[FoxNews] U.S. Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine became the first openly transgender four-star officer in the uniformed services on Tuesday after she was sworn in as the first female four-star admiral of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
The Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that Levine was ceremonially sworn in as a four-star admiral, making her the highest ranking official in the commissioned corps and leading 6,000 Public Health Service officers.
The former Pennsylvania health secretary became the nation's highest-ranking openly transgender official in March after being nominated by President Biden.
[Business Insider] Americans are buying everything they can get their hands on, and they'd be buying even more if it weren't for those pesky supply-chain snarls, the National Retail Federation said.

[Jpost] Canada, the US, France, the UK and other Western countries have helped train far-right extremists in Ukraine, a report by the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at George Washington University revealed last month.
The report found that members of Centuria, a far-right organization intent on reshaping Ukraine's military to align with its ideology, received training from Western countries while at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy (NAA).
Centuria describes itself as a military order of "European traditionalist" military officers who aim to "defend" the "cultural and ethnic identity" of European peoples against "Brussels’ politicos and bureaucrats," according to the report. The group is led by people with ties to Ukraine's far-right Azov movement. Members have been photographed giving Nazi salutes and have made extremist statements online.
One of the leaders of Centuria wrote on VK in 2016 that Jews were "the destruction of humanity" and shared a post saying that Jews had tried to "exclude Ukraine from world history and the map of the world.” Ukraine's current president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is Jewish.
The group has claimed that its members have taken part in joint military exercises with France, the UK, Canada, the US, Germany, and Poland. One apparent member of the group, then NAA cadet Kyrylo Dubrovskyi, took part in an 11-month officer training course at the UK's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2020.
The NAA receives and has access to funding and training from a number of Western countries.
Canadian Defence Attaché in Ukraine, Colonel Robert Foster, told IERES that Canada trusted Ukraine to screen recipients of Canadian training and that Canada would not entertain training extremists.
“I think we are at a point where, in the event that we did find a Ukrainian that was expressing or showing signs of that type of attitude, then they would be ejected from any training that the Canadians would provide,” said Foster.
One NAA cadet was apparently involved as a firearms instructor with an Azov-linked far-right group that the United Jewish Community of Ukraine accused of spreading antisemitic propoganda in 2021. Cadets at the academy have also been photographed giving the Nazi salute, despite NAA's insistence that it has no tolerance for extremism.
The NNA denied to the IERES that Centuria was operating within the academy and said a probe into the group's alleged activities had turned up no evidence of such activities. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry told IERES that it does not screen military recruits or cadets for extremist views and ties, while several Western governments training and arming Ukrainian troops said Ukraine was responsible for vetting the soldiers.
About 20 people are involved with Centuria, according to the report. Videos and photos collected by IERES show NAA cadets posing with Centuria banners and wearing Centuria patches and members of the organization at political events.
A Centuria member told the KP.ua Ukrainian media outlet in 2020 that NAA and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were both "aware of the Order’s existence and have not voiced any opposition to efforts to form an elite core of officers." The member added that Centuria worked with a number of other military education institutions and armed forces units.
Centuria members have also apparently held events on the premises of the Academy, including a lecture in 2018 which featured the recitation of a nationalistic text from before WWII.
Centuria has called for its members to transfer to specific units where the group's members serve and attracts new members through its Telegram channel, which has over 1,200 followers. The organization has become more secretive since IERES began tracking its online presence in early 2019, switching through multiple Telegram channels and deactivating Facebook, Instagram and VK accounts.
The US Congress has banned the use of US funding to "provide arms, training, or other assistance to the Azov Battalion," meaning that Centuria, which has apparent ties to the Azov Movement, likely should not have received the training it claims it has received from the US.

What we are now seeing is the results of the political component of MAD (mutually assured destruction) breaking down. Our enemies perceive that the USA will not respond to a nuclear attack on our territory with an overwhelming response. If they attack during a GOPe administration, they can count on the deps to tie the government up in knots and if they attack during a dem administration, they can count on a total surrender between the time the attacking missile launch is detected and the impact of the warhead(s). As of August, the population of the PRC is estimated to be 1,445,690,926. The current population of the US is 333,410,743. They could kill every single one of us (not quite doable during the actual attack, but within the realm of practicality afterwards)and we could take out one Chinese citizen for every one of ours lost...and they would still have more than a billion souls left.
I know perfectly well that there's more to it than that, but to the megalomaniacs who seem to be making Chinese policy these days the math is quite clear: they win.

The US' response to a mass fatality war crime attack on the CONUS was an expensive therapeutic intervention (coupled with political and cultural appeasement) that ended in the US' and NATO's humiliating and shameful defeat.
Any rational adversary will take this precedent strongly into account when evaluating a potential response by the US; just as any such adversary decades earlier would have taken into account the response to Pearl Harbor.
The lesson of the 9/11 war is that a war crime attack on the US killing thousands of civilians is a winning move militarily, politically and culturally.
If there's no perceived political will to retaliate, there's no deterrence. War head gaps and missile gaps become irrelevant.

OK, get it in perspective. They have supersonic missiles. Our delivery systems are super sonic as well. This is just hype. Once the missile gets into space, it goes super sonic. They cant shoot down what we already have for retaliation. China also has nuclear mines in space, and I assume others do as well. And we have our subs. This is one race we can still dominate and not get all worked up about.
But at the end of the day China could hand carry it here and our bumbling president and congress will argue over which political party is to blame and never stop it or retaliate.

IIRC, 85% of Chinese population is concentrated on less than 20% of their land area in the coastal plains along the rivers and in the major coastal cities. The US has enough nuclear weapons to turn that area into one large radioactive firestorm -- though the very thought of that action is repugnant. The "peasant in their rice fields" China that could outlast the invading Mongols and Japanese is not the urbanized China of today.
Unfortunately, as Mike said, the Chinese could very well start World War III in the same manner the Imperial Japan started their corner of WW2.

The Chinese put a gliding reentry vehicle on a big honking booster rocket. That makes attacks going over the south pole (or pretty much any angle) possible. That avoids the antimissile defenses in Alaska and California, but not necessarily, shipboard antimissile defenses. The glide vehicle, by maneuvering, can theoretically outrun antimissile defenses by presenting an unpredictable flight path and causing the antimissile to dissipate its energy. But the Chinese will have to do better than a 28km miss. Even nukes are wasted at that distance.

[FOX] Planeloads of underage migrants are being flown secretly into suburban New York in an effort by President Biden’s administration to quietly resettle them across the region, The Post has learned. Across Blue State regions of course. The migration to Red States has created a census and political district representation problem.
The charter flights originate in Texas, where the ongoing border crisis has overwhelmed local immigration officials, and have been underway since at least August, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Last week, The Post saw two planes land at the Westchester County Airport, where most of the passengers who got off appeared to be children and teens, with a small portion appearing to be men in their 20s.
Westchester County cops stood by as the passengers — whose flights arrived at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday and 9:52 p.m. Friday — got off and piled into buses.
Some of them were later seen meeting up with relatives or sponsors in New Jersey, or being dropped off at a residential facility on Long Island.
A Post analysis of online flight-tracking data suggests that around 2,000 migrants nabbed after sneaking into the US from Mexico have arrived at the airport outside White Plains on 21 flights since Aug. 8.
Records show some of the planes touched down between midnight and 6:30 a.m. — when a voluntary curfew is in effect — with two arriving from Houston at 2:13 a.m. and 4:29 a.m. on Aug. 20.
The clandestine nature of the operation raises questions about how the White House is dealing with a surge in unaccompanied minors.
The most recent figures from US Customs and Border Protection show that just during July and August, 37,805 unaccompanied minors were caught entering the US from Mexico — sometimes after being abandoned by professional smugglers known as "coyotes."

Last week OneIndia had reported that the ISI backed gunnies had prepared a list of non-Moslems in J&K. A hit list of 150 non-Moslems and non-locals in Jammu and Kashmir and been prepared, sources said.
There are multiple agencies now on the ground tracking down these faceless gunnies who have unleashed a reign of terror in the Valley. The NIA too has conducted multiple raids to track down these elements who are out on the loose.
The ISI had held a meeting to discuss this new wave of killings. A list had been prepared of random people who had to be targeted the report further added. The list comprised media personnel who write pro-India articles, police personnel and Kashmiri Pandits.
The NIA has over the past week conducted several raids in Jammu and Kashmir. Scores of terror sympathisers have been detained. The raids that were conducted at Chattabal, Chanapora and Solina are aimed at cracking down on the Overground Workers of terror groups. While The Resistance® Front has grabbed credit for the killings, the NIA is also looking into the roles of the operatives part of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Hizbul Mujahideen ...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. It is clear that they want to create panic and want every non-local out of Jammu and Kashmir. [OneIndia] Three locals have been held for questioning ass the encounter in Poonch entered its 7th day. A 45 year old woman was among the three to be held for questioning.
The agencies are questioning the locals after it was suspected that they had provided logistic support to the forces of Evil involved in the encounter. The woman and her son have been identified as Zarina Akther and Shafait.
Estimates suggest that there are around 8 forces of Evil who are heavily armed. They have been engaging the security forces in a shootout since last Monday. The encounter continued through Saturday night as well.

The battle has been on for 8 days and looking at the manner in which the events have turned out, officials suspect that some soldiers from the Pakistain Army could have infiltrated the jungles and are aiding the forces of Evil in their fight.
Sources tell OneIndia that the battle has been so intense and has lasted a week because of the training these forces of Evil have been imparted with. The role of the Pakistain Army in this operation cannot be ruled out, the source also said. The manner in which the battle is being fought clearly indicates that there are professionals involved in it and hence the role of the Pakistain Army cannot be ruled out an official also pointed out.
The battle continues despite a massive combing operation, intense shelling and a heavy cordon along the 9 kilometre stretch of the forests. On October 10, when the battle began, five soldiers including a JCO died in the Dera Wali Gali area of Poonch close to the Line of Control.

The herbicide used was most likely paraquat. On a sunny day the weeds wilt pretty much right after spraying and turn black soon after. There is no antidote for human poisoning so in the Caribbean it has the nick name of East Indian divorce. Plants dying from it have a paraquat smell to them as they die. It is also rain fast in under a minute.
In the USA it is a restricted use pesticide so somebody using it in the yard is breaking federal law.
I would pay good money to watch people attack a field of onions with bayonets. Even withered corn would put up a good fight. Manioc, Cassava, is a root crop.

[IsraelTimes] Border Police officers arrested a Paleostinian woman armed with a knife as she approached an Israeli settlement outside Jerusalem on Monday, police said.
The suspect, whom Paleostinian media identified as Samah Bakrawi, 37, from the village of Bayt Surik, was spotted by Israeli soldiers monitoring security cameras as she walked up to a locked gate into the Har Adar settlement.
Border Police officers were quickly sent to the scene and called for the woman to halt, according to police.
"The officers made the arrest without the use of gunfire as the suspect threw away the knife from her hand," police said.
She was taken into custody for further questioning, according to a police statement.

The national police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) backed by police commandos, marines, and intelligence agents, arrested Adzrimar Sali Ammat on Friday after raiding his safehouse in Zamboanga City, officials said. The house was located within two kilometers of a military base.
Ammat, 30, who is also known as Abu Omar or Guru Adin, was involved in the 2015 kidnappings of Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, as well as Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Marites Flor, police said. The latter two were freed after a year in captivity.
"Ammat alias Abu Omar was tagged as the negotiator of the Abu Sayyaf group that seized the four captives, including three foreigners and a Filipina in 2015," AKG chief Brig. Gen. Rudolph Dimas said in a statement.
He did not say why it took police three days to publicize the suspect’s arrest.
On Monday, officials at the Canadian Embassy in Manila did not immediately respond to a BenarNews request for comment.
The Abu Sayyaf, or "Bearers of the Sword," a Death Eater group based in the southern Philippines, is blamed for the country’s worst terrorist attacks, including bombings of military camps. Founded by an Afghan-trained Death Eater in the 1990s, the group later branched out to raising funds through kidnapping when its leader was killed.
Police said that two other kidnap victims, who were not named by them, positively identified Ammat as a negotiator. It was not clear whether they were held together with the two Canadians.
The regional police office in Zamboanga said Ammat had two standing warrants of arrests, one issued by a Davao Court for two counts of kidnapping with homicide on Sept. 29, 2016, and kidnapping with ransom issued by another court on Sept. 2, 2019.
The two Canadians, the Norwegian and the Filipina were kidnapped in September 2015 from the Holiday Oceanview Resort on the island of Samal in Davao del Norte, and were later taken to the jungles of Jolo Island — the stronghold of Abu Sayyaf in the far south — police said.
Ridsdel was beheaded in April 2016 and Hall was beheaded two months later. In June 2016, Flor, Hall’s girlfriend, was also freed and recounted the cruelty of Abu Sayyaf Death Eaters.
"We were treated like dogs. If we made mistakes, we were beaten," Flor told news hounds then, shortly after the turbans freed her. President Rodrigo Duterte had ordered negotiators to get her and the remaining hostage alive.
Flor was freed three months earlier than Sekkingstad, the Norwegian. The national police then said that a ransom of 30 million pesos (about $600,000) was paid for his release, although they never revealed who was the source of that money.

Come on, man! We do regular backups. Everyone knows it is good IT practice. However, we never actually ran the drill of restoring a backup because who has time for that stuff? There's work to be done! So we never realized the dailies were corrupt and totally unusable until suddenly we needed them.

[Garowe] Britannia’s leading Moslem organization is to issue new guidance to help British Somalis and other individuals and mosques deal with any incidents of hatred emerging in the aftermath of Sir David Amess’s death.
Zara Mohammed, the secretary-general of the Moslem Council of Britannia, said that mosques in and around Southend were devastated by the killing of the local MP, and "they had regarded him as a member of their family".
"This is a heinous crime and we utterly condemn it," Mohammed said. "Nobody in the local Moslem community could believe how anybody could brutally murder anyone, never mind Sir David, who was so engaged with them."
But she added there was "definitely an apprehension for Moslem communities at this time" after it emerged that Ali Harbi Ali, the 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing, came from a British Somali family.
Details about Ali’s motivations remain scarce, although the investigation into Amess’s death at his constituency surgery on Friday lunchtime is being treated by police as terror-related following initial questioning of the suspect.
There has been anecdotal evidence of threats against some British Somalis since the tragic incident, Mohammed said, particularly towards "visibly Moslem Somali women" — and against some Somali organizations.
"Our own social media has been rife with hatred," Mohammed added, after the MCB released statements over the weekend in support of the late Conservative MP and his family, and condemning the killing as "an attack on democracy".
As a result, the MCB was working on producing updated guidance on "reporting hate crime", which would be also translated into Somali and would be partly shared via WhatsApp, a popular means of communication among the community in the UK.
Fresh guidance will also be sent out to all mosques, Mohammed added, "reminding them of simple things like making a risk assessment, ensuring CCTV is fully functional and working with local communities and friends".
It would also include a particular emphasis on the safety of Friday congregations. Four years ago worshippers at two Finsbury Park mosques were rammed by a van driver in a violent mostly peaceful incident that left one dead and nine injured.

Along with traditional routes through Greece, Italia and Spain, Belarus has become a major migration route in the last few months.Germany remains the top destination for people seeking protection in Europe, with the number of asylum applications filed in the country already exceeding the 100,000 mark in 2021.
Germany's Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) said that by the end of September it had received 100,278 initial applications from asylum-seekers.
This is 35.2% more than in the same period last year.
Most of the asylum-seekers who applied for protection for the first time came from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. Of those, 40,472 initial applications came from people from Syria (up 57.1%), and 8,531 from people seeking protection from Iraq (up 22.2%).
The number of applicants from Afghanistan witnessed a sharp rise, with BAMF registering a total of 15,045 initial applications (up 138%) by the end of September.
CONCERNS RISE OVER BELARUS ROUTE

NEW COALITION MAY REFORM ASYLUM POLICY
The rise of the Belarus migrant route comes as Germany remains in limbo after last month's election.

[IsraelTimes] A leading figure in Egypt’s 2011 revolution, blogger Alaa Abdel-Fattah, appears in court along with two other co-defendants at the start of a new trial, his defense team says.
Abdel-Fattah, his lawyer Mohammed al-Baqer and another blogger, Mohammed Ibrahim, face charges of "broadcasting false news" in their trial before the State Security Misdemeanours Court in Cairo.
Rulings in the exceptional courts are final and cannot be appealed.
The next hearing in the case was set for November 1, their lawyer Khaled Ali tells AFP.
Abdel-Fattah, a computer programmer and prominent figure in the uprising that toppled former autocrat Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... , has been in pre-trial detention since September 2019.
He was arrested in the wake of rare, nighttime protests prompted by an exiled construction contractor calling for the removal of President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi on claims of corruption.
His lawyer Baqer and Ibrahim, also known as "Oxygen," were also detained in a massive crackdown.
Abdel-Fattah has spent most of the past decade in jail.

Telegram "knows" he doesn’t have an account, Snowden tweeted on Sunday, complaining about an impostor account named ’Official_EdwardSnowden’ sharing "a swastika" to 80,000 followers.
"Great job, guys. Just super," he said.
Snowden added that Telegram knew "ages ago" about the "scam-ring running this account," having refused to respond to media coverage about it.
Durov, who is apparently not in the habit of using Twitter — his most recent post on the platform had been in January — responded to Snowden’s complaints on Monday, noting that the imposter channel "is about a week old and never had a ’verified’ mark."
"It's unlikely the team was even aware about this channel. All you had to do was to let [Telegram] know about it. It is now marked as ’fake’ and removed from search results, just like other similar channels," he tweeted at Snowden.

Appearing on Stelter’s ’Reliable Sources’ show on Sunday, Weiss tried to explain how the "world has gone mad" with wokeness and cancel culture that lead to self-censorship both in the media and elsewhere.
Among the examples she quoted were the NY Times’ chief Covid-19 news hound calling it "racist" to investigate the lab leak theory; separating children by race in kindergarten and calling it progress; and not being allowed to condemn rioting, say there are differences between men and women, or say that the Hunter Biden ...son of President Joe: cashiered from the Navy, a crackhead, wheeler dealer, leg humper, horn dog, and general all around ne'er do well. We're supposed to feel sorry for him... laptop story is worth covering.
Stelter took exception to that, talking over Weiss to say he’d "heard about every story you mentioned" and that he could "find them everywhere," before concluding that "people are allowed to cover whatever they want to cover."
This got him a lot of flak on social media, with people who remembered CNN’s and his own conduct during the Hunter Biden laptop affair eager to remind him.
After that two-minute exchange, however, the conversation got a bit more civil. Podcast host Katie Herzog described it as "much more nuanced and interesting (and agreeable) than the clip going around."
The full interview, almost seven minutes long, was shared on the web on Monday, and served as inspiration for a bit of media navel-gazing. Mediaite, which posted the video, said Weiss "confronted" Stelter. The conservative-leaning Federalist used it to say that Weiss "embarrassed" Stelter on his own show.

Asayish forces launched a "major operation" in Deir ez-Zor with support of the international coalition, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a tweet, adding that in addition to detaining 22, weapons and equipment were also seized.
ISIS seized control of large swathes of Iraq and Syria in 2014. The last of its so-called caliphate was defeated in Syria in 2019, but cells of the group continue to pose a serious security threat in both Syria and Iraq, particularly in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor, which is controlled by both the SDF and regime forces.
A total of 34 operations were conducted against ISIS in the first half of this year, the SDF said in early July, with 245 suspects arrested and three killed.
Many of the SDF’s operations have been focused in the border areas, where in late May they arrested 24 ISIS suspects across 53 locations.

[An Nahar] Prime Minister Najib Miqati has noted that he does not intend to resign and that Cabinet will not convene before a solution is found for the dispute over Beirut port blast investigator Judge Tarek Bitar."The security situation is stable and there are no fears," Miqati said in an interview, referring to the deadly Tayyouneh festivities.

Asked about the meeting he held with the Justice Minister and the head of the Higher Judicial Council, Miqati said he was briefed by them on the course of the investigations into Thursday’s incidents while telling them that he "will not interfere in Bitar’s work."
Commenting on the Tayyouneh festivities, Miqati said: "What happened happened and it must be addressed and the solution is political. As long as I’m present, I will not allow injustice against any party and Leb ...In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial... is the country of balances which should be respected by everyone."
Asked whether he might step down as premier, Miqati said: "This is not on the table and the country can’t be abandoned in these circumstances. Vacuum should not engulf all authorities and we have essential and clear missions: devising an economic reform plan and holding the parliamentary elections, and I’m committed to these two missions."

"If we have identified the pressure points where the guardrails look most vulnerable, that's where we should be focusing so much of our efforts in terms of strengthening," Stewart responded.
"The encouraging thing," he added, "is watching on a grassroots level, people that are really viewing it as something that they want to protect and that they want to strengthen."

Saab's extradition to the US from Cape Verde, where he was arrested 16 months ago, has already ricocheted far and wide.

e) love Media Notoriety and run to the cameras every chance they get.
7. Do not use or trust how figures are arrived at by 3rd parties:
a) Establish how official figures will be collected from the start.
b) Establish who is responsible for the figures.
c) Establish a standardized and use a consistent publicly understandable way of presenting figures.
d) If presentation issues change, or issues arise then so state, explain and move on.
e) If any figures were deliberately falsified, then any person(s) involved should be criminally charged.
8. Regarding data figures.
a) Always show weekly Infected, cured and death rate together. Always Put things in proper prospective.
b) Remember Guesstimates only cause Panic.... Never use them.
c) Show which demographic groups are being more seriously affected and factually explain why?
d) Show what environments are causing the most seriously issues.
e) Never allow media, politicians or others to sell panic over Facts for revenue & attention.
f) Any Federal, State or media person spewing hype and panic over facts should be exposed and removed from public media access.
9. Media Updates
a) The Pandemic or its updates should NEVER be allowed to become a Political Circus.
b) Call out all public figures and violators that publish misleading facts.
c) Refuse to answer future questions from such violators and openly explain why.
d) All questions should be related to Current Known Data, no predictive data.
e) Explain how it is being addressed and what the next steps are in the plan..
f) Avoid politics and politically based agendas of those focused on Blame and not solutions.
g) If a reporter presents inaccurate misleading open ended data in a question, point it out BEFORE answering, or rephrase the question to properly answer it.
h) If a media person goes on a blame game agenda, call them out for it.
i) Do NOT feed those 2nd guessing actions for personal or political reasons with answers.
j) Do not tolerate a person or media outlet that is trying use a press briefing to become a celebrity or cause a news worthy political agenda spectacle. Warn them and openly remind them they are there to collect news, not become part of the news. If they continue, terminate the press briefing and post the facts to the official website along with an explanation why.
k) Develop and post a written set of Rules of Decorum expected of all media and persons present. Clearly state if not followed then what action will be taken and have all media sign the agreement.
10. When all is said and done. Hold a Closeout historical briefing of official findings, handling stumbles, issues encountered and mistakes made in handling the emergency. Post this on a publicly accessible website.

- Peer review has issues under normal circumstances. In a crisis it's too slow. Let information flow freely and the marketplace of ideas sort it out.
- Do not censor information.

Once the vaccines were developed, politicians and bureaucrats should have stepped away from the pandemic and left it up to the actuaries. If the actuaries are right, their companies will profit. If they are wrong the insurance companies will bleed money. Can't have that. Then, if you want to get vaccinated, get vaccinated. If you don't then don't. Just don't come crying to me when your health insurance company jacks up your premiums or if your employer decides he can't afford to keep you on the group policy. That might work differently for different people depending on other risk factors...depending on the actuarial tables. That is my understanding of how America is supposed to work. I believe the market is smarter than #FJB and Fauxi combined. I believe #FJB and Fauxi understand that too. The arrest of Magomed Nurov, accused of involvement in terrorist attacks at the Lubyanka and Park Kultury stations of the Moscow metro in 2010, has been extended for six months.
"The court ruled the petition of the investigation to satisfy and extend the term of Nurov's detention until March 27, 2022," Kommersant quoted the judge as saying.
Nurov and his lawyers objected to the extension of his arrest. The defense noted that the accused is not going to hide from the court, and before the arrest he had a permanent job: he worked as a watchman at a children's sports school in the Moscow region, TASS reported today.
The Second Western District Military Court will begin hearing the case on October 25, the agency said.
The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that on November 22, 2020, the head of the police department of the Kizlyar district of Dagestan, Gazi Isaev, was detained. He was charged under articles on participation in a criminal community with the use of official position, on banditry and a terrorist act.
According to the investigation, Isaev joined the terrorist organization Imarat Kavkaz, banned in Russia by the court, and using his official position, provided the militants with information about the security forces.
In 2010, he helped the suicide bomber get to Moscow and set up an explosion in the metro there. A Moscow court arrested Isaev, then on October 14 the court extended Isaev's arrest for three months.
A rally demanding the release of Isaev was held in November 2020 by employees of the Kizlyar ROVD, Internet users and retired officers who questioned the court's sincerity.
In April, several deputies of the Kizlyar District Assembly asked the Russian president to take control of the Isayev case, calling him an honest and decent officer. Chairman of the District Assembly Nurudin Kakhirovcalled the appeal a private initiative of the deputies.
[NPASYRIA] On Monday, two ISIS turbans and three Iranian-backed militia members were killed as a result of armed clash between them, in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
ISIS members targeted a military vehicle carrying members of the Iranian-backed Liwa Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas with a guided missile, a military source from the government forces in the city of al-Bukamal on the Syrian-Iraqi border told North Press.
"The targeting took place while a car, which was carrying Liwa Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas members, was leaving a military post near al-Siyal area, west of al-Bukamal, killing three members, all of them were Syrians," the source, who preferred not to be named, added.
The targeting was followed by festivities between the two parties, which resulted in the killing of two ISIS members of Iraqi nationality, according to the same source.
The source pointed out that it is not the first time that this military point has been targeted, as unknown persons targeted it two days ago, without leaving any casualties.
The Iranian-backed militias have controlled the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, since the expulsion of ISIS, in early 2017.

[IsraelTimes] Hundreds attend funeral of Midhat as-Saleh, who was reportedly assisting Iran’s military presence on the Golan border when he was killed
Syrian intelligence agent allegedly killed by Israeli sniper fire was buried Monday in an official funeral attended by hundreds of people near Damascus.
Midhat as-Saleh, a well-known figure in Syria, was fatally shot Saturday in Ain Eltinah, a village along the Israeli border in the Golan Heights where he ran a Syrian government office. Syria said he was killed by Israeli sniper fire. The Israeli military and other officials declined to comment on the charge.
Hebrew media reports claimed as-Saleh had been assisting the Iranian military presence near the border. If the claims are confirmed, it would mark the first time that Israeli snipers are known to have killed someone identified as an Iranian-linked target across the border.
On Monday as-Saleh’s coffin, wrapped in a Syrian flag, was brought in an ambulance from the Mamdouh Abaza hospital in Qunetira to Jaramana, on the outskirts of Damascus, for burial at a Druze cemetery. Hundreds of people attended, among them bigwigs and Druze holy mans.
As-Saleh’s son, Golan, a 17-year-old student, said that his father had always told him that the Golan Heights would return to Syria.
"I am proud that my father was martyred," he said.

The verdict on October 18 was announced by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the "Luhansk region".

How did it start?
On October 13, 2021, the Ukrainian delegation to the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group announced the arrest of a fighter of the so-called “LPR”, a citizen of the Russian Federation Andrei Kosyak, in the Donbas.
The operational group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained him in the area of the Zolote checkpoint (Luhansk region) for "gross provocation." Who was detained?
The detainee turned out to be a citizen of the Russian Federation Andrey Valentinovich Kosyak, born in 1978. They confiscated a Makarov pistol with two magazines, as well as documents issued by the "LPR" and an ID of the JCCC.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies suspect him of committing a grave crime in 2010 (premeditated murder, article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to Novosti Donbass, he was born in Alchevsk, was a citizen of Ukraine, but subsequently received a Russian passport.
In the "LPR" and in Russia, Kosyak's detention was used as a pretext to accuse Ukraine of violating the Minsk agreements.
The SBU established that Kosyak fired at the positions of the Ukrainian military in Popasna and Zolote from a mortar, he was informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (creation of paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law).
The actions of the militants
On October 15, several dozen young people held a protest action in the center of occupied Donetsk near the Park Inn hotel, where representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission live. Young people came to the hotel with posters, the inscriptions on which contained calls for the release of Kosyak.

Reaction
The OSCE has already called for the removal of any obstacles to the freedom of movement of the mission's observers.
Serhiy Garmash, a representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group, said that the militants actually took the observers hostage.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Oleg Nikolenko called the actions of the Russian Federation inadmissible regarding obstruction of the OSCE mission in ORDLO.
"Blocking and pressure on observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Donetsk is an element of the ongoing efforts of the Russian Federation to destroy the Minsk agreements and stir up the armed conflict," Nikolenko stressed.
He also recalled that in September the Russian Federation closed the OSCE observer mission at the Russian checkpoints across the state border of Gukovo and Donetsk, "to make it impossible to observe and hide from the international community illegal supplies of weapons, ammunition and mercenaries from Russia to Ukraine."

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the moves after NATO expelled several members of Moscow's delegation to the alliance for alleged spying.
"Following certain measures taken by NATO, the basic conditions for common work no longer exist," Lavrov told news hounds in Moscow.
He said Moscow was suspending the work of its official mission to NATO in Brussels, including its military representative, from around November 1.
Russia was also shutting down the alliance's liaison mission in the Belgian embassy in Moscow, set up in 2002, and the NATO information office set up in 2001 to improve understanding between NATO and Russia.
"NATO has already greatly reduced its contacts with our mission," Lavrov said, saying the alliance is "not interested in dialogue and work as equals".
"We see no reason to pretend that any change is possible in the foreseeable future," he said.
Lavrov said that in case of urgent matters NATO could liaise via the Russian ambassador in Belgium.
The moves cut off years of efforts to improve ties between Moscow and NATO that followed the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.
They come after NATO earlier this month stripped eight members of Moscow's mission to the alliance of their accreditation, with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calling them "undeclared Russian intelligence officers".
'MALIGN ACTIVITIES'
"We have seen an increase in Russian malign activities, at least in Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and therefore we need to act," Stoltenberg said at the time, describing the relationship between NATO and Russia as "at its lowest point since the end of the Cold War".
Russia had an observer mission to NATO as part of a two-decade-old NATO-Russia Council meant to promote cooperation in common security areas.
The Russian mission has been downsized before, when seven of its members were ejected after the 2018 Novichok poisoning of a Russian former double agent, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter in Britannia.
Meetings of a NATO-Russia council have not been held since 2019 against the backdrop of the heightened tensions.
Russia's relationship with the West has been on a downward spiral since Moscow's 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine and support for pro-Russian separatists in the country's east.
Western nations have imposed a series of sanctions in recent years over Ukraine, alleged election interference, cyberattacks and the poisoning of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.
Moscow in turn has accused the West of interfering in its elections and of supporting anti-Kremlin forces in countries like Ukraine and Georgia that Russia considers part of its traditional sphere of influence.
Lavrov's announcements came after US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin landed in Tbilisi on the first leg of a visit to three allies on the Black Sea -- Georgia, Ukraine and Romania -- aiming to deliver a message of support against threats from Russia.
NATO defence ministers, including Austin, will be in Brussels on Thursday and Friday for a series of meetings.
