Hezbollah names deputy head Naim Qassem as successor to Nasrallah
The countdown has begun.
[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah names deputy head Naim Qassem as successor to slain chief Hassan Nasrallah.

Qassem, a longtime deputy to Nasrallah, has served as the terror group’s acting leader since Israel killed Nasrallah in a strike in Beirut last month.

More from the Times of Israel at 8:50 p.m. ET:
Qassem was born in 1953 in southern Lebanon. He served as a Shiite cleric and educator until the late 1970s, when he joined the Amal terror group and political party during the Lebanese civil war.

When a number of Amal members split from the party to found Hezbollah in 1982, Qassem followed and was appointed deputy leader in 1991 under founding leader Abbas al-Musawi, who was killed by an Israeli helicopter attack the following year.

Qassem remained in his role when Nasrallah became leader in 1992, and served as his deputy until Nasrallah’s death.

Qassem has long been one of Hezbollah’s leading spokesmen, but he is considered by many in Lebanon to lack the charisma and gravitas of Nasrallah.

Since Nasrallah’s killing, Qassem has given three televised addresses, including one on September 30, days after Nasrallah was killed, where he appeared to be sweating profusely while reading prepared remarks.

“Despite the losses of its commanders, the attacks against civilians throughout Lebanon, and great sacrifices, we will not budge from our position,” Qassem said in that speech from an undisclosed location in Beirut. “We will continue to support Gaza and to defend Lebanon.”

According to a report by UAE-based Erem News, after the deaths of Nasrallah and Safieddine, Qassem fled Lebanon on an Iranian plane in early October and is currently residing in Tehran.

2. What did Qassem do to them to deserve a death sentence?

Iraq submits UN complaint over Israeli violation of airspace to attack Iran
Impotent whining by the impotent.
[Rudaw] The Iraqi government on Monday announced it has submitted a letter of protest to the UN Security Council over Israel's "flagrant violation" of Iraq's illusory sovereignty by using its airspace to attack Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. "The Iraqi government affirms its firm commitment to Iraq’s illusory sovereignty, independence, and sanctity of its lands, and is working at various levels to confront these aggressions, and stressed that it will not allow the use of Iraqi airspace or lands to attack other countries, especially neighboring ones that have respect and common interests with Iraq," government spokesperson Basem al-Awadi said in a statement.

Iraqi Shiite militia groups and politicians are voicing anger after Tehran accused Washington of allowing Israel to use Iraqi airspace to attack the country. On Saturday, the Iranian army said that Israel used US-provided airspace in Iraq to attack Iran.

Iraq has in turn submitted a protest letter to the UN "which included condemnation of the flagrant violation committed by the Zionist entity by its aggressor aircraft violating Iraqi airspace and illusory sovereignty," according to Awadi.

i has also directed the foreign ministry to present Iraq’s stance to Washington, Awadi added.

Four Iranian soldiers were killed in the attack which Israel said was in response to Tehran’s attacks on Israel.

Iran has directly attacked Israel twice. The first time was in April when Iran fired hundreds of missiles and drones in retaliation for a deadly strike on its embassy that Tehran blamed on Israel. On Sunday, prominent Iraqi Shiite politician Hadi al-Amiri said the US will be held "fully responsible" for violating Iraq’s airspace, accusing Washington of "giving Israel everything it needs to carry out attacks in the region."

"The need has become more urgent than ever to end the American military presence in Iraq in all its forms," Amiri stressed.

Last month, the US and Iraq announced that they had struck a deal to end the military mission of the anti-ISIS global coalition within a year. American troops will continue to maintain a military presence in Iraq until 2026 to support the coalition mission in Syria, which will end in two years.

On Sunday, pro-Tehran Iraqi militia group Kataib Hezbollah said that the US must face consequences for misusing Iraqi airspace.

Nearly 500 PKK targets hit in Iraq, Syria after Ankara attack: Erdogan

Following a cabinet meeting, the Ottoman Turkish leader said that the Kurdish gang wanted to send the Ottoman Turkish government a message through Wednesday’s attack on Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI)

which killed five people and injured 22 others.

Hours after the attack, Turkey responded in time-honored fashion, by bombing border areas in the Kurdistan Region and alleged PKK positions in northeast Syria (Rojava).

Erdogan claimed that the Ottoman Turkish army "neutralized" 213 PKK fighters during their retaliatory strikes against the group’s alleged bases in the Kurdistan Region and Rojava, adding that 470 targets belonging to the group were hit. Ankara uses the phrase to denote adversaries captured, maimed, or killed.

"As the Republic of Turkey, we have discarded the messages intended to be given through this vile attack," he said.

PKK grabbed credit for the attack, saying it was carried out by "an autonomous team" which belongs to one of its offshoots, noting that it often conducts "self-sacrificing actions that are warnings and messages against the genocidal practices, massacres and isolation practices of the Ottoman Turkish state power."

The Kurdish group has accused Ankara of oppressing its significant Kurdish population. Founded in 1978, the PKK initially called for the establishment of an independent Kurdistan but now calls for autonomy. The group is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey and Western allies.

The 40-year long conflict between PKK and the Ottoman Turkish state has claimed an estimated 40,000 lives.

PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan on the same day of the TAI attack and the shocking remarks of a Ottoman Turkish nationalist leader, who extended an olive branch to Ocalan, have given a glimpse of hope to those who have been struggling to end decades of war.

Erdogan claimed last week that the two PKK members who attacked TAI headquarters had entered the country from Syria.

(ISIS). Ankara considers the SDF to be an offshoot of the PKK.

SDF commander Mazloum Abdi denied the "activists" entered Turkey from their areas.

"Our forces have nothing to do with these attacks and the attackers did not pass through Syrian territory," he said in a video message on Saturday.

Abdi said the Ottoman Turkish strikes had killed 15 civilians and two of their members.

Britain
Founder of far-right English Defence League jailed for 18 months for contempt of court
[IsraelTimes] A judge sentences the founder of the far-right English Defence League to a year and a half in prison for contempt of court for violating an order barring him from repeating libelous allegations against a Syrian refugee.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, better known as Tommy Robinson, admits in Woolwich Crown Court that he violated a 2021 court injunction on several occasions while giving interviews broadcast on YouTube, and in a documentary he presented during a rally in London’s Trafalgar Square in July that was also posted on his X account.

Robinson had been ordered not to repeat false allegations that a former schoolboy, Jamal Hijazi, had bullied and threatened other students. Hijazi had successfully sued him for libel and was awarded 100,000 British pounds ($130,000) in damages.

The Solicitor General finds Robinson violated the injunction on 10 occasions since 2023, including by airing a documentary, titled "Silenced," he made on the case that has been viewed more than 44 million times.

In recent months, Jewish community leaders have asked Robinson to stay away from demonstrations against antisemitism in London.

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it hit over 150 terror targets in Lebanon and Gaza over the past day.

It says dozens of gunmen were killed by security forces in both theaters of operations, and large amounts of weaponry were destroyed.

Lebanon says number killed in Israel-Hezbollah conflict surpasses 2,700 in a year
[IsraelTimes] Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported Monday that 38 people were killed and 124 wounded over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll from a year of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel to 2,710 killed.

The figures do not differentiate between civilians and combatants, but say that of the dead, 532 are women and and 157 are children.

The IDF estimates that more than 2,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in the conflict. Around 100 members of other terror groups have also been reported killed in Lebanon.

Hezbollah has named 516 members who have been killed by Israel during the fighting, mostly in Lebanon, but some also in Syria. These numbers have not been consistently updated since Israel began a new offensive against Hezbollah in September.

South Africa files its ‘evidence’ of alleged Israeli genocide in Gaza at UN court
[IsraelTimes] South Africa filed with the International Court of Justice its full submission, or Memorial, on Monday, alleging that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza during its ongoing military operation against terror group Hamas, and claiming that Israel has failed to abide by numerous clauses of the genocide convention and its international obligations.

Although Pretoria has already filed several motions requesting interim measures against Israel with the ICJ — the UN’s top court, which adjudicates disputes between nations — it was obligated to file its comprehensive arguments for a final ruling.

Israel rejects allegations of genocide in the war that began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas led a devastating cross-border assault, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages.

The South African Department of International Relations & Cooperation said that the 750-page document it filed, together with 4,000 pages of “exhibits and annexes,” provides “evidence” that Israel has violated the genocide convention by “promoting the destruction of Palestinians living in Gaza,” killing them, depriving them of access to humanitarian assistance, and “causing conditions of life which are aimed at their physical destruction.”

It also alleged that Israel has had genocidal intent in its actions in Gaza, a key component of a genocide charge, has failed to prevent incitement to genocide, and has failed to punish those who have allegedly incited to genocide and committed alleged acts of genocide.

Iran executes Iranian-German prisoner Jamshid Sharmahd over terror conviction
[IsraelTimes] Judiciary announces killing of California resident abducted from Dubai whose family dispute charges against him, and whose trial Amnesty called ‘grossly unfair’

Iranian-German prisoner Jamshid Sharmahd, who was kidnapped in Dubai in 2020 by Iranian security forces, has been executed in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
after being convicted on terror charges disputed by his family, the country’s judiciary reported Monday.

The judiciary’s Mizan news agency reported that his execution took place Monday morning.

Iran accused Sharmahd, who lived in Glendora, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, of planning a 2008 attack on a mosque that killed 14 people and maimed over 200 others, as well as plotting other assaults through the little-known Kingdom Assembly of Iran and its Tondar turban wing.

Iran also accused Sharmahd of "disclosing classified information" on missile sites of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard during a television program in 2017.

"Without a doubt, the divine promise regarding the supporters of terrorism will be fulfilled, and this is a definite promise," the judiciary said in announcing his execution.

His family disputed the allegations and worked for years to see him freed. They could not be immediately reached for comment. The German government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Amnesty International said the proceedings against Sharmahd were a "grossly unfair trial" because he was denied access to an independent lawyer and "the right to defend himself."

"The government-appointed lawyer said that, without payment of $250,000 from the family, he would not defend Jamshid Sharmahd in court and would only ’sit there,'" Amnesty said, in one report on his case.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
the organization noted that Sharmahd ran a website for the Kingdom Assembly of Iran and its Tondar turban wing that included "claims of responsibility for explosions inside Iran," even as he repeatedly denied being involved in the attacks.

Sharmahd had been in Dubai in 2020, trying to travel to India for a business deal involving his software company. He was hoping to get a connecting flight, despite the ongoing coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)

...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic disrupting global travel at the time.

Sharmahd’s family received the last message from him on July 28, 2020. It is unclear how the abduction happened, but tracking data showed that Sharmahd’s mobile phone traveled south from Dubai to the city of Al Ain on July 29, crossing the border into Oman. On July 30, tracking data showed that the mobile phone traveled to the Omani port city of Sohar, where the signal stopped.

Two days later, Iran announced it had captured Sharmahd in a "complex operation." The Intelligence Ministry published a photograph of him blindfolded.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
How 'La Barbie' and her Venezuelan thugs could swing the US election: The brutal Tren de Aragua gang couldn't establish a toehold in the US... then Biden opened the floodgates
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] … - and it might seal the deal for Trump.

At first glance, the shabby Gateway Hotel, which advertises that it lets rooms by the hour, doesn't seem a place on which the fate of the world might turn.

Yet this now infamous establishment in the downtown heart of the Texas city of El Paso has earned itself an eleventh-hour role in the US presidential election – as part of a border security scandal that may help return Donald Trump to the White House.

Recent events at the crime-plagued hostelry, its windows now plastered with 'Closed' and 'No Trespassing' signs, have exposed yet again the disastrous failings of the Biden-Harris immigration policy – and allowed Trump to show Americans heading to the polls why he takes such a hard line on migrants.

The rundown hotel was allegedly the base for a brutal sex-trafficking ring run by an international Venezuelan crime gang, whose base is only a half-hour walk away across the Mexican border in Ciudad Juarez – one of the world's most dangerous cities.

Notorious for burying its victims alive or dismembering them, the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang – which means Aragua Train, Aragua being a state in Venezuela and the train a reference to the gang's reported links to a rail union – has a reputation for ruthlessness that's terrifying even by the depraved standards of Latin American criminals.

And, thanks to a Democrat government that rashly relaxed Trump's border controls, they've been able to spread their tentacles across the United States.

The gang, whose myriad activities across Latin America include drug and people trafficking, contract killings and illegally mining gold, was founded in around 2000 inside a Venezuelan prison – a prison that it was able to control to such an extent that it installed a bar, restaurant, disco and zoo.

But before the advent of the Biden administration – which has allowed more than 700,000 Venezuelans to settle in the US after many more fled poverty and the oppressive rule of socialist president Nicolas Maduro – the gang had never been able to establish a toehold in the States.

One of the favourite money-spinners of an operation that's been dubbed 'the epitome of evil' is to offer to smuggle migrant women into the country – often via El Paso – and then force them into prostitution as payment. The gangsters invariably twist the terms of the arrangement so the debt can never be paid off.

The Democrats' decision to give special treatment to Venezuelans due to the privations they were suffering under Maduro has created a nightmare scenario for American law enforcers.

As Washington has imposed sanctions on Maduro's regime, which range from blocking oil and gas sales to banning access to the US financial system, Venezuela is now one of a handful of countries that refuses to tell US officials if migrants have a criminal history.

While the vast majority of the arrivals are law-abiding, the thugs that hide among them are now being referred to by some police forces as 'ghost criminals', since there is little to identify them except their gang tattoos. (Tren de Aragua tattoos typically include five-point crowns, stars, clocks, trains and roses.)

In the final days of the election campaign, Trump is focusing on immigration and, particularly, the threat from criminals slipping over the border.

Last week, he told a rally that the US was now 'like a garbage can for the rest of the world'. He specifically flagged up the Tren de Aragua gang, claiming that the Colorado town of Aurora (over 600 miles to the north of El Paso) was being taken over by the Venezuelans, turning it into a 'war zone'.

His claims came after a video showing heavily armed gang members patrolling an apartment building in Aurora went viral.

However, even Aurora's Republican governor accused him of exaggerating the problem – something of a Trump habit – prompting Democrats and much of the US media to dismiss it as another lie – like his claim that Haitian migrants had been eating people's pets in Springfield, Ohio.

Yet it should be plain to even the most starry-eyed Harris supporter that, even if it isn't about to destroy America, Tren de Aragua is a growing menace.

The Department of Homeland Security has identified more than 600 migrants in the US who may have connections to TdA and has established it is operating in 15 states, and possibly eight others. Since 2021, there have been more than 100 arrests of suspected gang members.

Last month, Michael Shifter, a senior fellow at Inter-American Dialogue, a Washington think-tank, warned: 'I think the Tren de Aragua in the US could help elect Donald Trump.'

Other experts have agreed, noting how voters, who identify immigration as a key concern, need no reminding of how Biden and his border tsar, Kamala Harris, presided over a dramatic increase in the number of migrants illegally crossing the southern border – an average of 2 million per year from 2021 to 2023.

The Democrats' critics already have – in 36-year-old Estefania Primera, the alleged leader of the gang that operated out of the Gateway Hotel – their poster child for the evils of TdA and the failings of Washington.

Primera, whose street name is La Barbie, is a heavily-tattooed and pierced illegal migrant who, until she was locked up last month on charges of people smuggling and prostitution, liked to post on social media photos showing off her body decorations.

It is claimed that Primera trafficked women across the Mexican border to work as prostitutes and even used her five young children as drug mules to move narcotics.

El Paso police say that until a judge temporarily closed it, pending a hearing in December, they'd received a jaw-dropping 693 calls in two years about criminal activities at the anarchic Gateway Hotel, including assaults and suspected prostitution.

According to court papers, a migrant woman living there alleges that, to force her to work as a prostitute, La Barbie drugged her with the potentially lethal synthetic opioid fentanyl and brought men into the hotel to rape her repeatedly while she passed in and out of unconsciousness. When she woke and tried to flee, Primera, she says, dragged her back inside.

The conservative New York Post recently hailed Primera as 'the face of Biden-Harris immigration policies', detailing how she illegally crossed the border in August 2023. She was apprehended but, under the Biden government's controversial 'catch-and-release' policy, was allowed to stay in the US with the sole proviso that she wore an ankle monitor (which she immediately ditched).

Though she is now behind bars, La Barbie will remain a problem for the US since Venezuela refuses to take back almost all its citizens – a fact that has long appalled critics of the Biden-Harris policy of allowing hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans into America.

It is certainly quiet around the Gateway Hotel without La Barbie. Despite being just across the bridge from the drug-violence plagued Ciudad Juarez, and being a major crossing point for illegal migrants, El Paso has enjoyed a reputation for being one of America's safest cities.

Resident Joshua Harris, an athletics trainer, was sceptical that the gangsters of Tren de Aragua posed much of a threat to El Paso. 'This is Texas – you've got to assume everyone has a gun, and there's also a s***load of military and veterans here,' he told me.

Some of his fellow Texans aren't nearly so bullish. Last month, the state's Republican governor, Greg Abbott, designated Tren de Aragua a 'terrorist organisation' and called El Paso 'ground zero' for the gang in the US.

'Tren de Aragua has spread terror and carnage in every country they've been in, and Texas will not allow them to gain a foothold in our state,' Mr Abbott said in a statement.

The gang relies on staying ahead of police. Its members often live in migrant shelters, where other residents provide both their victims and their new recruits.

For the past year, the majority of migrant arrivals to cities like New York, Chicago and Denver have been Venezuelans, prompting concern from local mayors that they were being swamped by incomers they knew nothing about.

'They're reckless, and as ruthless a crew as we've seen,' said Jason Savino, one of New York's most senior detectives.

In the New York borough of Queens, where the gang is accused of operating a street-front prostitution racket known as the 'Market of Sweethearts', two NYPD officers were shot by a 19-year-old suspected TdA member, though the officers survived.

Like La Barbie, the alleged gunman had been caught crossing into Texas illegally, only to be released into the US to await an asylum hearing (which can take years to come up).

In Denver, in June, a leaked federal memo revealed that officials had received intelligence that members of TdA had been given the 'green light' by their bosses to attack and open fire on local police.

Meanwhile, it is a recurring theme that TdA members arrested for crimes in the US didn't slip into the country undetected but were intercepted by the Border Patrol and then allowed to stay.

The TdA has provided Trump not only with a cudgel with which to bludgeon the Democrats but with the perfect opportunity to boast that a second Trump term will be tougher than the first.

'They're a savage gang, one of the worst in the world, and they're getting bigger all the time because of our stupidity,' he has said.

At rallies across the country, he's been talking of his 'Operation Aurora' (named after the town he said was a TdA 'war zone'), a federal plan to 'immediately' invoke the 1798 Alien Enemies Act if he is re-elected.

The law – controversially used to intern Japanese-Americans in World War II – gives the president the power to arrest and deport any non-American man older than 14 if they come from a country at war with the US.

Trump said he'd use it to deport all undocumented gang members. He said he'll also demand the death penalty for any migrant who 'kills an American citizen'.

Many Americans will be voting with their wallets on November 5. For others, this new bogeyman from the border may just seal the deal for Trump.

MS-13 gang member arrested, charged with murdering 'happy' couple: police
[FoxNews] Virginia sheriff blasted the 'casual treatment' of migrant criminals

An MS-13 gang member who entered the U.S. illegally has been arrested by Virginia authorities for allegedly committing a double homicide.

The Loudon County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of suspect Marlyn Medrano-Ortiz, 18, on Friday. The teenager, who was arrested in Alexandria earlier last week, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Authorities say that Medrano-Ortiz killed Mijal Conejero-Romera and Diego Alexander Woollett in Sterling, Virginia, on Aug. 28. Both victims were 22 years old.

"They found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, and both individuals were transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased," investigators said at the time.

In a recent press release, Loudon County Sheriff Mike Chapman said that the pair were "were shot and killed following an apparent altercation," at around 4:33 a.m on Aug. 28.

One of Conejero-Romera's close friends told WUSA that the two victims were dating.

"They seemed so happy," Tinayia Henderson said to the local outlet. "Her family told me he treated her like a princess."

In Friday's statement, Chapman said that the investigation took a massive amount of manpower.

"This investigation included numerous patrol units who canvassed over 320 residential units and 30 businesses, along with more than a dozen detectives and members of our Dive, K-9, Drone, and Search and Rescue Units," the official said.

"It also included the use of 39 search warrants and the work of our Crime Analysts, and Digital Forensic Examiners who reviewed over 950 hours of video, multiple cell phones and laptops, along with tower dumps, license plate readers, and other analysis."

Chapman also denounced MS-13 and blasted the "casual treatment" of criminals who are in the country illegally.

"I am on record strongly opposing the presence of MS-13 and other violent gangs in our nation and local communities," the sheriff said. "MS-13 is an El Salvador-based gang that uses intimidation, crime, and violence as tools of the trade, and there should be no safe place for them here."

"I am also on record opposing the casual treatment of persons in this country illegally who commit crimes against U.S. citizens and others."

"Today’s arrest is not an isolated matter," Chapman added. "MS-13 operates throughout the northern Virginia region, and just this summer Loudoun experienced one of the most horrific crimes in memory."

Sanctuary city sending thousands of migrants back to Texas by plane, bus
Going to America is not nearly as rewarding as anticipated.
[FoxNews] NYC has struggled with influx of migrants, which has put strain on social services.

New York City is buying tickets for thousands of migrants to travel to Texas via bus or plane, from where many of them originally traveled to the sanctuary city in the first place, amid an ongoing battle between officials over how to handle the migrant crisis.

New York City, which has been overwhelmed by more than 200,000 migrant arrivals since 2022, has been providing settlement options to migrants since that time. Last year, it opened a reticketing center to offer one-way plane tickets to migrants.

Fox News confirms that 4,500 migrants have been sent to Texas using bus or plane tickets bought by the city. The figure was first reported by Bloomberg News.
Golly — that’s 2 1/4% of them returned to sender. Do you suppose Texas will notice the increase, dear Reader?
According to Mayor Eric Adams
…who is suddenly climbing a very steep learning curve…
office, the top five destinations for migrants leaving the Big Apple are Texas, Illinois, Florida, New York State and Colorado.

In total, they have issued more than 4,700 tickets and the majority, roughly 4,500, have gone to Texas. It was not clear how many of those migrants had come from buses sent to NYC from Texas.

Between February and July there were 2,297 tickets purchased to Texas, with the top three cities being Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Fox is told that spending through to July 2024 on reticketing has been $13.8 million.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott began bussing migrants to New York City and other sanctuary cities in 2022 in what he said was an effort to relieve pressure on the overwhelmed border communities. He chose sanctuary cities – cities that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement – because he said they encouraged the crisis. An NYC spokesperson told Fox that the influx was exacerbated by Abbott and that resources have been exhausted in part due to his efforts.

When asked how the program works, the mayor’s office said, "Whenever they have a desire where they want to go back to somewhere else, we buy their tickets. It is mostly planes, but we also buy bus tickets."

Abbott’s office slammed the handling of the crisis by the Biden administration and accused Adams of hypocrisy.

"Border Czar Kamala Harris and the federal government continues to refuse to enforce federal immigration laws already on the books and do their jobs to secure the border, allowing record-high levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and weapons to surge into our state and country," spokesperson Andrew Mahaleris told Fox News in a statement.

"Hypocritical Mayor Adams said busing migrants is ‘morally bankrupt,’ while Harris called transporting migrants ‘political theater’ and they’re doing the same thing themselves. Until Border Czar Harris steps up and does her job to secure the border, Texas will continue utilizing every tool and strategy to respond to the Biden-Harris border crisis," he said.

New York City has struggled with the influx of migrants, which has put a strain on social services and led to scenes of migrants lining up outside the Roosevelt Hotel.

Pro-Putin party wins contested election as Georgia drifts further from US, Europe
[FoxNews] Georgian Dream, the Russian-backed party, claimed victory shortly after polls closed on Saturday, with around 54% of the vote. The united opposition garnered only 38%. The ruling party even had an assist from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who sent congratulations to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Georgian Dream party before the election results were even released. Orban visited Tbilisi and provided further legitimacy to the government’s disputed victory.

Many opposition figures reject the victory claimed by Georgian Dream and call the election stolen and rigged.

The Georgian president and many Western observers confirmed that the election results were marred by irregularities, including fraud and ballot stuffing.

The election was "marked by a tense environment and several incidents of physical altercations and widespread intimidation of voters," the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), noted in a statement. European Council President Charles Michel is calling for an investigation into the alleged irregularities.

Some Georgians, outraged by the results, have already taken to the streets to voice opposition and planned protests are taking place outside the parliament. If mass protests break out as the president and others have called for, and are met with violence from security forces, tensions could spiral even more.

Many Georgians have strong aspirations to join the EU, with polls showing up to 83% of them supporting such a move. The Georgian Dream Party has stalled Georgia’s efforts of joining the EU since it became a candidate member in 2023. The EU subsequently put Georgia’s process on hold after a controversial "foreign agent" law that required citizens, non-governmental organizations, media outlets and other civil society organizations that receive over 20% in funding from abroad to register as a foreign agent with the Justice Ministry.

Following the passage of the pro-Kremlin foreign agent law, the U.S. imposed sanctions and travel bans on Georgian officials who voted for the law and security agencies responsible for cracking down on dissent. The State Department also paused $95 million in assistance to the government.

Norway's Storebrand divests from Palantir over use of its software by Israeli forces
[IsraelTimes] Norwegian investor Storebrand Asset Management has divested its holding in Palantir Technologies, citing concern that the AI data firm’s involvement in providing services to the Israeli military and security forces would violate international humanitarian law and human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
In an update last week, Storebrand, which manages 1.2 trillion crowns ($109 billion) in assets, said that it had divested its investment in Palantir "due [to] its sales of products and services to Israel for use in occupied Paleostinian territories." The asset manager had previously held about 262 million crowns ($24 million) in Palantir, a spokesperson told Rooters.

The US data-analysis giant develops software using artificial intelligence to analyze vast amounts of facts and figures, which is deployed by government civil administration, military and intelligence agencies. The AI data software platforms are used by intelligence agencies to assist in profiling information to identify targets such as gunnies as well as in operational decision-making for battle plans.

Its AI tools assist Sherlocks in uncovering human trafficking rings, finding exploited children, and in the business realm in flagging complex financial crimes and insider trading.

The Denver-based data-mining firm with a market value of $100 billion has been active in Israel for the past decade and has an office in Tel Aviv run by many former Israeli government officials. In January, Palantir co-founder and CEO Alex Karp hosted the firm’s first board meeting of the year in Tel Aviv to show solidarity with Israel during the war against the Hamas

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Putin Answers Questions On ‘Secret Meetings’ With Trump And North Korean Troops
[ZeroHedge] Today's journalists, much like trial lawyers, have a habit of cross-examining their subjects with the intent to find weaknesses rather than find the actual truth of a matter. They also often ask questions already knowing what kind of answer they're going to get. It's not about getting the answer, it's about planting seeds.

For example, every time the media presents a "question" regarding alleged collusion between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin the goal is not to get an honest answer, but to repeat the conspiracy theory as often as possible so that the accusation remains embedded in the collective consciousness.

This was once again the case at the recent BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Russia. Asking tough questions is one thing - but presenting accusations without any evidence to back them is another.

The far-left media have been debunked at every turn when it comes to the Russiagate narrative. Both Trump and Putin have denied any relationship and all the "evidence" that supposedly ties Trump to Putin has been exposed as fabricated. After nearly a decade of intense scrutiny if there was any legitimate collusion between Trump and Russia it would have been found by now.

Putin quickly pointed out that inquiries by US officials have found no collusion involving Trump and that the claims are nonsense. That should be the end of it, but again, the western media is not interested in facts, they're interested in narratives.

The establishment has also aimed its crosshairs at Elon Musk this week, with the Associated Press claiming an "anonymous source" confirmed to them that Musk has had regular phone calls with Vladimir Putin since 2022. Again, none of this is supported by concrete evidence and the goal of the media is simply to plant the idea out there in the minds of the public as if it means something nefarious is afoot.

Musk is a private citizen, not a government official, and he has the right to talk to whoever he pleases. It's not surprising for an international businessman to have contact with world leaders for any number of reasons. Not to mention, the US is not at war with Russia (officially), but the media is acting as if this is the case.

Putin talked extensively on the reasons for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, arguing that it was NATO involvement in sparking the Maidan Revolution in 2014 that led to Russia's decision to go to war. He also asserted that foreign military elements from NATO countries are heavily involved in Ukraine's defensive efforts on the ground, stating that "we are aware" what's really going on.

The Russian leader seems to be suggesting here that if Ukraine can invite foreign assets into the war, then so can Russia.

As for the presence of North Korean troops in Russia, Putin doesn't deny it. Satellite images and some leaked video seem to show North Korean soldiers in training areas near the eastern coast of Russia, but this is thousands of miles away from the Ukrainian front. There is no evidence that North Koreans are currently fighting in Ukraine. If this ends up being the intent, then yes, it would be considered an escalation by NATO, but not necessarily a rationale for NATO troops to enter the war.

Such a move would immediately trigger a world war; an outcome which the Ukrainians are certainly desperate for as their defensive lines collapse, but not an outcome which the majority of Americans and Europeans are willing to accept.

Europe
Volkswagen planning mass layoffs
[RT] The carmaker also plans to shut down at least three factories in Germany in a bid to lower costs, according to its Works Council head

Volkswagen is looking to significantly reduce its workforce in Germany and shut down several factories in the country, amid a major overhaul aimed at lowering costs and increasing return on sales, the head of the carmaker’s Works Council has announced.

Daniela Cavallo explained to employees in Wolfsburg on Monday that Volkswagen management is “absolutely serious” about the plans and that the move is “not saber-rattling in the collective bargaining round,” Reuters reported.

Throughout its almost 90-year history, the carmaker has never closed a plant in its home country. The last time it shut down any of its facilities was in 1988 in the US.

“It is a firm intention to let the locations’ regions bleed dry and the clear intention to send tens of thousands of Volkswagen employees into mass unemployment,” Cavallo said.

Her comments come as the automotive giant has been negotiating for several weeks with unions over plans to overhaul its business in order to remain competitive in light of weaker demand from China and Europe.

She did not specify which of the ten Volkswagen plants operating in Germany would be shut down or exactly how many of its roughly 300,000 workers in the country would be laid off, but noted that all remaining facilities would be affected by the changes and that “none of them are safe.” Cavallo also stated that Volkswagen management is demanding a 10% pay cut and no pay raises for the next two years.

Cavallo stressed, however, that the German government must urgently come up with a plan to ensure that the country’s economy does not “go down the drain.” She noted that Volkswagen and other European companies are in agreement as to the nature of the problems they are facing, such as slower-than-expected electric transition as well as fierce competition from Chinese automotive brands entering Europe.

“We are not far apart when it comes to analyzing the problems. But we are miles apart on the answers to them,” Cavallo said.

Earlier this month, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported that the German economy is expected to contract for a second year in a row as it struggles to keep up with soaring energy costs after cutting itself off from Russian gas. Over the past year, the German government has noted a 5.3% drop in the country’s industrial output as orders for domestic-made goods have also plummeted.

Experts at the Berlin-based Forum for a New Economy have warned that Germany’s failures are expected to turn the 2020s into a “lost decade” for the country as it suffers “the worst economic downturn since World War II.”

[RT] Thousands of Ukrainians refused entry to Germany
[RT] Illegal migrants from Ukraine have become the most frequently denied applicants, followed by Syrians and Afghans, Bild am Sonntag reports

German authorities have turned away 5,935 Ukrainians who were trying to illegally cross the country’s borders from January through September 2024, Bild am Sonntag reported on Sunday citing data tracked by the Federal Police.

Ukrainians were ranked as the most frequently denied applicants at Germany’s land borders alone, followed by Syrians and Afghans, the number of rejection to whom totalled 4,709 and 2,396 respectively.

A crossing attempt is seen as illegal, when a migrant tries to enter without a valid residence permit, according to the police as cited by the newspaper. Rejections are also possible especially if entrants are not registered as asylum seekers or if they are temporarily banned from re-entering the country.

In total, the German Federal Police detected 53,410 illegal entry attempts into the country in the first nine months of 2024. Most of the rejections occurred at Germany’s border with Switzerland (9,113 people), Bild noted. They were followed by the control points on the borders with Poland, where the police turned away 7,862 people, Austria and France, that recorded 5,468 and 2,350 illegal entry attempts respectively.

The German authorities reportedly identified 1,482 deported migrants, who attempted to re-enter the country despite the previously issued ban. Moreover, the police arrested 1,195 smugglers and uncovered 1,088 smuggling operations. The total number of arrests from January to September reportedly amounted to 7,783.

Germany has become the the prime destinations for Ukrainian refugees in the EU since the conflict between Moscow and Kiev escalated in February 2022. The bloc’s economic powerhouse has accepted almost 1.1 million Ukrainian migrants as of June 2024. Poland has accepted 960,000, according to Statista. Russia welcomed over 5.3 million Ukrainians, official data from early 2023 demonstrates.

In addition, Germany has continued to accept migrants from other countries amid ongoing crises in the Middle East and Africa, with total refugee arrivals reaching 2.67 million and 1.93 million in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

In September, the federal government tightened border controls for at least six months, emphasising that the measure could be further extended. The authorities launched a series of random checks at border crossings with Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France, thus expanding the system already in place at its other borders to the entirety of the country’s frontier.

Border crossings with Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland have been brought under control since mid-October last year. Controls were also introduced at the German-Austrian land border in autumn 2015

Great White North
Trudeau will never talk about the real foreign meddling in Canadian politics
Scathing.
[RT] The prime minister sees interference from abroad everywhere, except right under his own nose – or rather, at his back

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
sees foreign interference everywhere, even where Canadian officials say it doesn’t exist. But he can’t for the life of him find the systemic foreign meddling that’s right under his nose, and of personal and political benefit.

During seemingly endless Canadian parliamentary foreign interference inquiries that started in September 2023, Trudeau has just testified (in French) that Russia is everywhere, accusing Moscow of “amplifying” Canada’s problems, like when a bunch of honking Freedom Convoy truckers descended on Ottawa to demand equal treatment for all Canadians regardless of Covid jab status.

Like it was Russia that blocked protesters’ bank accounts at the behest of Team Trudeau, in a move that went globally viral because it confirmed people’s worst fears about a dystopian slide into authoritarianism and social credit-style mass control. Go against the establishment and just try to even survive without access to your own money.

Trudeau was specifically shown and asked about RT headlines criticizing his government’s actions around the Convoy, generally shrugging them off as propaganda and disinformation, even though it turns out that they were really just prescient. Because in January 2024, even the Canadian Federal Court ruled that Team Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act, which is normally reserved for incidents like war and terrorism, and the extraordinary measures taken under it, banking and otherwise, violated the constitutional rights of Canadians. So, is Canadian Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley a Kremlin agent, too?

As for any evidence that the Freedom Convoy was foreign funded? Nonsense, said Canada’s intelligence services at a formal inquiry in 2022.

Trudeau then suggested that RT sowed Covid jab “antivax” disinformation, which is really just another way of saying that the outlet didn’t participate in the kind of overt censorship and narrative control that prevented an open and democratic discussion and debate in the spirit of scientific inquiry related to a novel vaccine and virus, the impact and effects of which were constantly shifting along with government mandates and directives.

I personally contributed a piece to RT during the Covid fiasco in August 2021 about how, as an unjabbed Canadian citizen arriving in Canada from Paris with a French lab blood test certificate quantifying natural antibodies and immunity from Covid as a result of infection, border officials offered me the choice of either spending days locked in a federal facility for the unjabbed returning to Canada, or else getting straight back on a plane to France.

I chose the latter. And now it’s widely accepted that natural immunity ultimately is what has reduced Covid to an epiphenomenon around the world. Finally, the rest of the world, including Trudeau’s own health authorities, have caught up to getting on board with the kind of “disinformation” that RT was leading the way in platforming, all while Western governments were demanding censorship of debate across social media platforms. The Canadian military was also caught deploying military-grade information warfare during Covid, using techniques honed on the battlefield in Afghanistan, in support of the government’s narrative, as the Ottawa Citizen reported in September 2021.

“Immunity acquired from a Covid infection provides strong, lasting protection against the most severe outcomes of the illness,” NBC News reported in 2023, citing research published in The Lancet. Oh no, looks like the prestigious Lancet medical journal and NBC News have both fallen to Russia now, too.

Trudeau claimed at the foreign interference hearing that RT was financing “very well-known names” on the right, “like Jordan Peterson or Tucker Carlson, to amply messages that destabilize democracy.” Because literally everyone who disagrees with Western propaganda is a Russian agent now, apparently. Got any actual receipts for your claims against former Fox News host Carlson and globally renowned Canadian clinical psychologist Peterson, champ? Because I smell a potential lawsuit or two.

Trudeau has been playing similarly fast and loose with the “evidence” of Indian “foreign interference” lately, too. He explicitly accused Indian diplomats, including the Indian high commissioner in Canada, of being involved in homicide and extortion of “Canadians” and violating Canadian sovereignty. More like Justin violated Canada’s sovereignty by importing every global conflict imaginable into Canada by turning it into a flophouse. And now that fights are breaking out between all these “Canadians,” it’s time to find a scapegoat.

No actual names were given of the targeted “Canadians” or suspects during a police press conference this week, but Hardeep Singh Nijjar was gunned down near Vancouver last year. That particular “Canadian” had come into Canada fraudulently and eventually scored refugee status by whining about being persecuted in India, which literally considered him a terrorist looking to carve up India to create a state just for Kalastani Sikhs. Yet the Canadian government went, “Poor guy, come on in, bud! And please bring all your issues with you. Because diversity is our strength!”

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed that the targets are Kalistani “Canadians.” Sikh separatists are considered a terrorist group in India, although who’s to say that non-Khalistanis can’t get caught in the crossfire, as seems to be the case with the increasing amount of gangland-style gun play taking place.

These “Canadians” have been routinely rallied by an American Khalistani group to hold referendums in favor of an independent Khalistani state from Canada. We’re talking about the same kind of separatism that Trudeau explicitly denounces when practiced by francophone separatists in Quebec. His father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, even declared martial law amid separatist violence, kidnapping and murder in Quebec back in 1970.

So just imagine if New Delhi had given Quebec separatists refuge and allowed them to hold referendums from India on carving up Canada like Team Trudeau is doing now with Khalistanis while blaming Indian officials for the fact that they’re being picked off rather than blaming himself and his predecessors for the fact that they’re even in Canada in the first place.

Canadian police claim to have cases of Indian diplomats hiring criminals to shoot these Khalistani “Canadians,” but can’t actually cite any actual names or specifics.

Much more glaring, however, is Trudeau sitting there at a foreign interference inquiry while the guy literally propping up his minority government, left-wing New Democratic Party leader, Jagmeet Singh, is a vocal pro-Khalistani advocate himself, who just announced that he wants to put forward “severe sanctions” on Indian diplomats, adding that Narendra Modi’s government “has to be held to account.” Big mystery where the foreign interference is when Trudeau’s political career is done the moment this guy pulls his support.

Meanwhile, a Sikh separatist activist from a group in the US helping to organize the Kalistani independence referendums in Canada, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, has told Canadian state media about his access to Trudeau’s office, saying that he told them who to go after in Canada on India’s side. And now he’s tweeting that his US-based group, Sikhs for Justice, is offering a “budget” – which is a nice way of saying “bounty” – of $500,000 to track down the expelled Indian high commissioner. He also said they want Canada to investigate a Canadian MP, Chandra Arya, who was born in India, and whom he calls Modi’s mouthpeace, probably because he’s routinely condemning Khalistani extremism. The guys with whom Trudeau is overtly siding against the Indian government are literally offering bounties, yet Trudeau needs a whole endless dog-and-pony show to find the foreign interference in Canada.

Canadian politicians pandering to ethnic blocs for votes and their own political self-interest isn’t the kind of foreign meddling they’re looking for, I guess. Kind of like what they all do with the influential Ukrainian expat lobby in Canada – the point of greenlighting their suggestion that a World War II-era Nazi, Yaroslav Hunka, be celebrated in the Canadian parliament during Zelensky’s visit.

Team Trudeau had to backtrack upon realizing that smoking Russians back in the day put this guy on the same side as Hitler. But the policies pandering to the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada for votes and damaging Russia-Canada relations remain. And now it looks like Team Trudeau’s pandering to Indian separatists for personal and political gain is tanking Canada’s relations with India, too.

But by all means, Justin, please show us, with your whopping 30% popularity, exactly where on the map Jordan Peterson, Tucker Carlson, India, Russia, Freedom Convoy truckers, anti-vaxxers, and RT touched Canada.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli Parliament Passes Law To Ban UN Relief Agency, UNRWA
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The Israeli parliament has taken a significant step by passing a law to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating within the country's borders.

This decision, it was reported, aims to prohibit UNRWA's activities and instructs the Israeli police to enforce the ban.

The reasoning, behind the move, stems from allegations that UNRWA has been involved in harmful activities, including murder, rape, and kidnapping of Israelis, as well as facilitating the conveyance of weapons.

Critics argue that instead of providing a solution to the Palestinian refugee crisis, UNRWA has perpetuated the issue since its establishment in 1949.

It's essential to note that this law has passed the preliminary reading, and its implications will likely be far-reaching.

The ban underscores the complex and sensitive nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the role of international organisations within it.

and this seen:
Israel 🇮🇱 Parliament overwhelming voted in favor of the law declaring @UNRWA

All UNRWA activities and presence in Israel will cease immediately.
Despite widespread international opposition, politicians voted overwhelming on Monday evening to approve two bills essentially barring the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees and their descendants from operating in Israel, and severely curtailing its activities in Gazoo

and the West Bank.

During the opening plenum session of the Knesset’s winter legislative session, MKs voted 92 to 10 to approve a law barring UNRWA from operating in Israeli territory, and 87-9 in favor of another measure curtailing UNRWA’s activities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank by banning state authorities from having any contact with the agency.

Without coordination with Israel, it will be almost impossible for UNRWA to work in Gaza or the West Bank, since Jerusalem would no longer be issuing entrance permits to those territories or allowing coordination with the IDF. Israel also currently controls access to Gaza from Egypt, with Israeli forces deployed along the border between them.

UNRWA — short for the United Nations

and Syria.

According to the Ynet news site, the Foreign Ministry had warned of the dangers of passing the UNRWA legislation, stating that Israel could be found in violation of the UN charter and be expelled.

In a seeming response to the international criticism, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel was prepared to work with international partners, both in the 90 days before the legislation takes effect and afterward, to ensure that humanitarian aid would still reach Gazook civilians.

"UNRWA workers involved in terrorist activities against Israel must be held accountable. Since avoiding a humanitarian crisis is also essential, sustained humanitarian aid must remain available in Gaza now and in the future," the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement issued in English.

"In the 90 days before this legislation takes effect — and after — we stand ready to work with our international partners to ensure Israel continues to facilitate humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza in a way that does not threaten Israel’s security," Netanyahu’s office said.

While Israel has worked to gradually limit UNRWA’s role in the delivery of humanitarian aid, in favor of the World Food Program, UNICEF and other agencies, UNRWA is still heavily involved in the Strip’s humanitarian operation, running shelters, clinics and warehouses.

The Knesset’s approval of the two bills in their second and third (final) readings came only days after UNRWA confirmed that a Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
Nukbha commander killed in an Israeli strike, who led the killing and kidnapping of Israelis from a roadside kaboom shelter near Kibbutz Re’im on October 7 last year, had been employed by the agency since July 2022.

Israel alleges that more than 10 percent of UNRWA’s staff in Gaza have ties to terrorist factions, and that educational facilities under the organization’s auspices consistently incite hatred of Israel and glorify terror.

In February, the IDF revealed the existence of a subterranean Hamas data center directly beneath UNRWA’s Gaza Strip headquarters. The IDF has also repeatedly targeted Hamas command centers and button men hiding out in UNRWA schools.

Israel had been extremely critical of UNRWA long before the Hamas invasion and slaughter in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, saying that its near uniqueness in the world — granting refugee status not just to the first generation of refugees but to their descendants — perpetuated the conflict and a culture of dependence among Paleostinians.

German media reports government transferred extremists in evacuation from Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] A German media outlet has reported that several dangerous Islamist bully boyz from Afghanistan have been brought to Germany as part of the country’s evacuation program.

Following the collapse of the Afghan government and the Taliban
...the once and current oppressors of Afghanistan...
’s return to power, the German government had pledged to accept 45,000 at-risk individuals from Afghanistan. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
contrary to its initial commitment, a smaller number have been transferred to Germany.

The Welt newspaper reported that investigations revealed some radical Islamists, considered threats to Germany’s security, had entered the country legally.

After the threats were uncovered, the German government halted the evacuation process. Currently, thousands of individuals in neighboring countries are waiting for German visas.

These individuals were previously included in the evacuation list, but the German government has effectively suspended the process without providing them with any response.

The suspension came after an Afghan citizen in Mannheim, Germany, stabbed a police officer to death and injured several civilians. The attack sparked widespread reactions.

On Saturday, Business Insider also reported that the evacuation process was non-transparent, with people who faced no real threats being brought to Germany instead of eligible individuals.

Recently, Germany has started deporting "criminal refugees" from Afghanistan.

The situation of Afghan refugees remains dire, with many facing an uncertain future. The halt in Germany’s evacuation program has left thousands stranded in neighboring countries, with no clear path forward.

This delay adds to the existing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, where severe poverty and lack of basic services continue to devastate lives.

Moreover, the ongoing expulsion of Afghan refugees only deepens their plight, forcing them back into a country gripped by instability and economic collapse. Urgent international intervention and transparent refugee policies are crucial to addressing this escalating crisis.

Government Corruption
King Biden & Queen Harris Overrule Supreme Court On Student Debt Forgiveness
[ZeroHedge] The Wall Street Journal reports Biden Snubs the Courts Again on Student Loan Forgiveness.

’That didn’t stop me," President Biden declared after the Supreme Court blocked his $430 billion student loan write-off in 2023. It sure didn’t. After striking out in court with three debt forgiveness schemes, the Administration on Friday unveiled another. Take that, judges.

The Education Department says its proposed rule would authorize forgiveness for some eight million borrowers experiencing "hardship." Under the rule, the department can discharge debt if it calculates a borrower has an 80% likelihood of defaulting on payments within the subsequent two years based on 17 factors such as income, debt balances and assets.

The rule would effectively let the department forgive debt of any borrower any time it wants. The administration says high child-care costs could qualify as a hardship. How about high auto loan or credit-card payments? Did someone say moral hazard?

In April the department released a plan that cancels accrued interest for 25 million borrowers and forgives debt of those who entered repayment over 20 years ago or who "enrolled in low-financial-value programs"—meaning, forprofit colleges. The plan also promised to waive debt for borrowers with a "hardship."

A federal court last month blocked that plan, but the department says its new rule "would operate separately and distinctly." Courts are playing whack-a-mole with the Administration’s debt write-offs that end-run Congress, which never authorized such broad-based debt forgiveness.

Such lawlessness is one reason so many Americans discount the left’s assertions that Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
endangers democracy. Mr. Biden acts like he’s king, and Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
and media voices cheering him on have no standing to object if Mr. Trump follows the Biden precedent.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Victor Davis Hanson: The Ordeal and Triumph of Mr. Netanyahu
[AmericanGreatness] After the October 7 massacres, the obituaries of the long political career of Benjamin Netanyahu, published both in Israel and in the West, became orthodox. He was considered as politically inert as Donald Trump once was after January 6, 2021.

The conventional wisdom speculated not if, but only when he would be forced out of office.

Western leaders and the Israeli left, and indeed even the Israeli non-left, as well as American and European pundits, claimed that the laxity of the Netanyahu government was entirely to blame for the grotesque massacre of October 7.
Actually, it was 70 years of trying to make peace with Allanbeasts. Not to mention the tendency of a large part of Israeli society to see Western "Elites" as our moral superiors - instead of as nihilistic degenerates, sociopaths gleefully engaged in genocide against their own People.
Indeed, last fall, there arose almost a competition of critics to assert all the ways in which Netanyahu was played by Hamas.

Accordingly, Netanyahu’s sweeping Supreme Court reforms had supposedly needlessly split the country, demoralizing the military and eroding Israeli deterrence in the eyes of Palestinian terrorists. Or his purported strategy of playing off the more lethal and toxic Hamas against the Palestinian Authority was supposedly proof of his reckless naivete.

Still, other opponents argued that his 16 years as Israel’s longest-serving prime minister and his age of 75 made him a Joe Biden-like relic of the past, simply too old and too familiar to be any longer effective. He was told it was well past time to step down and let a new generation break out of the old toxic Middle East mindsets.

And indeed, after October 7, Netanyahu faced a bleak regional and global landscape—analogous to what a 65-year-old Churchill faced in June 1940 when all of Western Europe was in the hands of the Nazis and a lonely Britain was without a single wartime ally—with a sympathetic America still hesitant to commit to ensuring its existence.

Massive immigration from the Middle East into Europe and the United States—spiked by hundreds of thousands of oil-subsidized foreign students in Western universities, coupled with the post-George Floyd woke/DEI hysterias—had made European and American political parties unapologetically not just anti-Israel but now increasingly anti-Semitic as well.

Western governments at times seemed far more terrified of their own Muslim citizens, foreign residents, radicalized students, and left-wing activists of their political parties than they were of any terrorist threats emanating from Iran and its surrogates.

So, a shared sense of resignation, if not despair, had swept the West and, in part, Israel too. Armchair strategists and retired generals opined nonstop how it would be virtually impossible to root out Hamas from its vast subterranean labyrinths—given its armories and headquarters were buried deep below Gazan hospitals, schools, and mosques.

The West all but accepted Hamas propaganda that it was more immoral to root out Hamas murderers hiding beneath hospitals than it was for them to murder and then flee beneath them.

Hamas’s own leaders were in no mood to negotiate a return of the hostages. They felt the more collateral damage their own fellow Gazans suffered, the more CNN-fed propaganda about Israeli "atrocities" and "genocide" would neuter the Netanyahu government. Hamas sensed Palestinians were to be the media’s new Ukrainians—fellow underdogs deserving Western support.

The old friendship days of Donald Trump—the Abraham Accords, the move of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, the institutionalization of an Israeli Golan Heights, the withdrawal from the Iran Deal, the crippling oil sanctions on Tehran, and the terrorist designation of the Houthis—were long gone.

In their place emerged the most anti-Israeli American government in memory. Biden-Harris soon put arms holds on Israel, hectored it to be proportionate in responding to some 500 projectiles launched by Iran against the Jewish homeland, and all but resonated the slurs of the left that Israel had become "genocidal."

By spring 2024, we were further told that Israel could not finally defeat Hamas or remove its leadership from their tunnels. Moreover, Israel also faced 100,000, 125,000, or perhaps even 150,000 Hezbollah ballistic missiles and rockets—along with the full arsenal of Iranian rockets, missiles, and drones—that were ready at last to swarm and destroy Israeli defenses.

So, Israel was hopelessly trapped, we were told, in a brilliantly devilish Iranian "ring of fire." Accordingly, Iranian appendages in the West Bank and Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon would wage an on-off again war of attrition against Israel.

Meanwhile, Iran would finalize the production of five or six nuclear bombs. Israel’s civilian and military manpower would be worn down and worn out on multiple fronts and its tourist trade would be destroyed.

The economy would be bled out, as its citizens were ostracized abroad and at home called up to military service. And its only patron, the once reliable U.S., now under the Biden-Harris administration, considered the Jewish state a near embarrassing election-year liability.

Such were the burdens that would supposedly crush Netanyahu as he was forced from office. These challenges would soon lead to a more "realistic" and compliant Israeli government that would stop the ground wars, not retaliate disproportionally against Hezbollah or Iran ("You got a win. Take the win" in the words of Joe Biden), and use the Biden administration as a neutral interlocutor to legitimize Hamas and thereby perhaps ransom the hostages for billions of dollars.

The more Israel knocked down incoming missiles, the more Biden urged them not to respond proportionally, as if to punish Israel for its competence and reward Iran for its ineptitude.

Indeed, not since the infamous days of the 1950s, when the CIA overthrew Latin American regimes, had America so brazenly interfered in the internal politics of a foreign nation as it now overtly sought to replace or undermine the Netanyahu government—by strategic leaks of shared classified information, slow-walking and suspending arms, threats of holding back financial aid, opening back-channel relations with its political opponents, and by nonstop loud jawboning.

TRIUMPH
Yet here we are in autumn 2024, a year after October 7, with Hamas’s leadership virtually liquidated. Its terrorist brigades are decimated and increasingly scattered, and its own battered constituencies now angry that they are suffering the consequences of a self-interested—and, worst of all, losing—Hamas elite.

Hezbollah has launched some 9,000 rockets since October 7. It has made the Lebanese-Israeli border a no-man’s land. Some 80,000 Israelis were forced from their homes. Hezbollah violated all the UN peace accords and used UN deployments as virtual shields. Middle East experts assumed that Hamas were amateur killers compared to Nasrallah’s dreaded Hezbollah—the SS of Middle Eastern terrorist brigades.

Supposedly, its hardened killers, some 100,000 strong, could at any time trump the wickedness and medieval savagery of Hamas by sending at will far deadlier hit teams into northern Israel to repeat the massacres of October 7.

And what of Iran itself, the hub to the spokes of such terrorism?

We were told that it would soon become nuclear and might strike against the proverbial "one-bomb" state. In the mullahs’ eyes, poor Israel was a divine gift to the theocracy of assembling half the world’s Jewry into one easy target.

Did not Iran export deadly drones and missiles to new staunch allies like Russia and China and develop missiles nearly comparable to any in the West?

And yet somehow an embattled Netanyahu, shunned by the Biden administration, demonized by the European Union, and smeared and slandered by the UN, saw opportunity where all others saw only doom.

He understood that the sheer depravity of October 7 gave Israel, at least for a brief window, the moral authority to wage all-out war on its enemies, terrorists whose reputations he sensed were exaggerated, and their leaders’ bloodcurdling threats thus mostly empty.

So, Israel systematically neutered Hamas, eliminating its leadership, destroying its tunnels, and warning civilians this time around to vacate buildings that served as armories, storehouses, and safe houses and thus would be leveled. And so they were.

As if out of some science fiction novel, years ago Israel booby trapped thousands of Hezbollah pagers and walkie-talkies. And when they now finally exploded, they wounded or killed in a few seconds many of its ruling echelon while identifying the terrorists among the Lebanese population and revealing their strategic locations at the moments of their demise.

Netanyahu was told that reentering the Lebanese border was to revisit the graveyard of past failed Israeli incursions. And yet he did just that, though in measure, and thus half of the Hezbollah missile force is now reportedly gone. And with that, he pivoted to Iran.

Iran had sent 500 rockets, drones, and missiles into Israel, Israel heretofore launching a mere handful of missiles in response—until last week when the Israelis had apparently taken out much of the Iranian missile inventory and launch sites, as well as its anti-aircraft batteries.

So Israel without loss
…with relatively little loss, anyway — beyond the 1200 or so viciously murdered during the first few days of the Hamas 10/7 incursion, Israel has only lost a few hundred soldiers and a few dozen civilian, plus however many of the kidnapped will have been murdered before Hamas is forced to give them up…
has finally retaliated against Iran in force, but in a geostrategically brilliant fashion that for now has taken few lives, avoided a regional war, and again put Iran in a nearly impossible strategic position—and all without further alienating an often hostile Biden administration.

If Iran does not match its murderous eliminationist rhetoric with a third strike, it will continue to lose face abroad and perhaps eventually even its governance at home. And yet Tehran realizes such humiliating quietude is the better of two bad choices, since Israel also gave it a way out, by killing few Iranians and sparing its oil and nuclear facilities.

On the other hand, if Iran foolishly chooses to send more ballistic missiles into Israel, there is a good chance that again few—if any—will get through. And such a third strike will both justify and indeed this time ensure that an unbound (and unstoppable) Israeli retaliation will destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities and its oil infrastructure, rendering it destitute, defenseless, and humiliated—to the delight of the Arab world, the U.S. and even Europe, and the indifference of its supposed allies China and Russia.

Moreover, Netanyahu struck before the election. That sent a message that even if Harris were to be elected, neither she nor Biden in the next few months will veto Israeli strategic options. (And the strike also reminded American voters that the current administration turned a calm Middle East into an inferno). All that said, Israel responded again with restraint, which the Biden-Harris will eagerly claim was due to their own humanitarian pressure.

In sum, Netanyahu has changed the very image of his multifarious enemies—and indeed of the Middle East terrorist himself. The myth of a deadly and inviolate Iran is now shattered, replaced by a neurotic theocracy, its terrorist limbs amputated, its homeland defenseless, and its ultimate fate in the hands of a righteously angry Israel—with the specter of a possible President Donald Trump on the horizon who would end the dangerous American strategic nonsense of promoting a theocratic, anti-Western, Persian/Shiite/underdog as a foil to the moderate Arabs and Israel.

Likewise, exploding pagers and walkie-talkies not only decimated Hezbollah, but it also humiliated it—and made it the butt of macabre global jest.

Targeted assassinations changed the image of the fiery terrorist Iranian, Hezbollah, or Hamas leader, shaking his fist and shouting death to Israel and the West to assembled thousands, into a caricature of a craven and quivering bully—screaming from a reinforced bunker about the unfairness of being on the receiving end of what it has so boastfully for decades dished out.

Western media weekly posts wanted poster-like charts of Iranian, Hezbollah, and Hamas leadership, with x’s over the faces of the deceased. Now no sooner does a Hamas, Hezbollah, or Iranian terrorist implode than there are hushed assumptions that no one wishes to publicly identify as his replacement—and thus join him in eternity

The surreal aspect of the Netanyahu retaliatory tour is that he has done more to neutralize European and American enemies—with decades of Western blood on their hands—than NATO, the CIA, the FBI, and Interpol combined, and yet more often received rebuke rather than gratitude.
If the dear Western Elites think Bibi's bad, wait until they've to deal with the quartet: Bennett, Liberman, Smotrich, and Ben Gvir.

What's in a Name? Nashville Predators Host Gay Pride
[TennesseeConservativeNews] The Nashville Predators hosted a Pride Music Heritage Night on Saturday at Bridgestone Arena.
Finally sunk in after the third read: a hockey team...
Presented by Amazon, the “theme night” was one of a four-part series meant to showcase entertainment from “diverse communities in Nashville.”

A pregame Plaza Party featured a toast from Nashville Predators CEO Sean Henry commemorating the Preds celebration of Pride Night for a decade, Drag Queens, a glitter bar and hair tinsel, and sponsorship from Tennessee whiskey maker Jack Daniels, Regions Bank, and Margaritaville.
Sunk in with the very first read: pedos.
A custom logo, reminiscent of a disco ball, was designed for the Pride Music Heritage Night. The logo artists collaborated with the Nashville Predators and the final design was featured on player-signed jerseys, t-shirts and around the arena the night of the game. The design was also featured on 10,000 mini vinyl record coasters given out to the first fans to arrive.
Faaaaabulous!
LGBTQ organizations involved with the event during the game included official “towel waver” the Tennessee Pride Chamber, Middle Tennessee Transgender Alliance, Nashville Pride, LGBT Outdoors, and Found Sound Media.

An auction where Preds fans placed bids on jerseys, hats and other merch with the Pride logo benefited GUIDER, a Preds initiative whose goal is the diminishing of “the prevalence of social injustice in any form.” GUIDER is an acronym for Growth, Understanding, Inclusion, Diversity, Equality, and Representation.

Two more Music Heritage Nights are planned for later in the hockey league’s season, in early 2025. These are API (Asian and Pacific Islander) Music Heritage Night on January 29th, and Black Music Heritage Night on February 8th.
I assume Black heritage music is supposed to be blues and jazz, but not bluegrass and Americana, which for some reason are assumed to to be “white heritage” music. And then there is gay heritage music, which is expected to be musicals, which goes to show.
The Pride Music Heritage Night is one of two annual Pride events hosted by the Predators. A separate Pride Night was held in April at the arena.

After controversy following some NHL players outside of Nashville choosing not to wear a Pride themed jersey during warmups in 2023, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said that themed warmup jerseys of any kind would no longer be allowed in the league.

Pride Nights are part of NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” initiative. As part of their effort to be inclusive, the league works to make the sport a positive environment for people of “every race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and for those with disabilities.”

He goes before the judge today for deliberately shooting a harmless Jewish resident of the Jewish neighbourhood of West Rogers Park on Chicago’s North Side, followed by a shootout with police, so this is a place to corral new information about the miscreant.

Food Banks in Key Swing States Reporting 'Increase in Demand'
[Breitbart] Food banks in key swing states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin are reporting an “increase in demand” from people waiting in lines for food.

Several officials from food banks and organizations that work to bring an end to hunger explained to NBC News that they have seen an increase in the number of people who are in need of food. Officials at the food banks noted that the need has become “significantly higher” than it was during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joe Arthur, the Executive Director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, explained to the outlet that his organization has “seen a more than” 50 percent “increase in demand since 2021.

“It’s a hunger crisis,” Arthur explained to the outlet. “The need that we’re seeing in our localities is actually as high as it was at the peak of the pandemic, yet there are less resources for those families today.”

The outlet noted that food banks “from rural Michigan to midsize towns in Pennsylvania and affluent suburbs in Wisconsin” were reporting the increase in demand from people “over the past several years”:

From rural Michigan to midsize towns in Pennsylvania and affluent suburbs in Wisconsin, food banks are reporting record levels of need that have been steadily increasing over the past several years. Despite rising wages and low unemployment rates, many households continue to struggle with escalating costs that have depleted their savings and increased credit card debt, leaving little money left over at the end of the month to put food on the table, food bank directors said.

“We have never seen this level in the 43 years we have been serving this community,” Ken Estelle, who serves as the president of Feeding America West Michigan. “It is significantly higher than during Covid and has pressed us beyond our capacity.”

[ZeroHedge] Reid Hoffman, billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn and independent director on Microsoft's board, appears to have donated a substantial amount of money to the "Progress Action Fund" — a PAC led by a far-left activist and former Obama administration alumnus. PAF pushed out one of the cringiest pro-pornographic political ads to drum up support from chronic masturbators for Kamala Harris.
Creepy commercial and discussion around it can be seen at the link, should you really want to waste your time, dear Reader. No doubt the advertising team thought they were making edgy humour. They were wrong.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: October 28, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:39 Norway will provide a new aid package to Ukraine worth 500 million euros, the country's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced. He specified that 350 million of this amount is military aid.

21:04 Croatia will transfer 60 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine under an agreement with Germany, the country's Defense Ministry reported. According to the memorandum, Croatia expressed its readiness to supply 30 M-84 tanks and 30 M-80 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as spare parts and ammunition for them in exchange for financial resources for the purchase of up to 50 Leopard 2A8 tanks.

20:25 North Korean troops are "very likely" moving toward Kursk, said Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh. She stressed that there would be no new restrictions on Ukraine's use of American weapons against North Korean troops if they were drawn into the war.

"We estimate that approximately 10,000 are moving to eastern Russia to study and strengthen Russian forces. We are increasingly concerned about Russia's intention to use these soldiers in combat or to support combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Russia's Kursk region, close to the border with Ukraine," Singh said.

In turn, Biden said that the participation of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine is "very dangerous."

18:33 Syrsky reported that he worked in units and divisions participating in the defense operation in the Zaporizhia region, met with brigade commanders. According to the commander-in-chief, there are military actions of varying intensity in this direction, the main task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to strengthen the defense in the most difficult sections of the front and ensure maximum stability of the defense line.

18:16 The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to strengthen military registration and monitoring of violations of the law. As reported by the Ministry of Defense, now the TCC, the SBU, intelligence agencies and the National Police will exchange data through an electronic system - this will allow law enforcement officers to quickly and effectively receive information about violators and deliver them to the TCC or the relevant agencies.

18:09 Syrsky ordered to strengthen medical services providing medical care to wounded soldiers in the combat zone with professional medical personnel, in particular, stabilization points of military units and subdivisions. For this, medical personnel from healthcare institutions (hospital link) of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be involved, the General Staff reported. The department emphasized that military doctors are not "transferred to the infantry" - they will continue to work in their immediate specialty.

17:37 Swiss President Viola Amherd supported lifting the ban on re-export of weapons to Ukraine. According to her, the embargo harms Switzerland's industry and security.

16:55 Japan will provide Ukraine with $3 billion as part of a G7 loan totaling up to $50 billion, which will be repaid using revenue from frozen Russian assets, Nikkei reports. Japan will monitor the use of these funds to avoid spending them on military purposes.

16:12 North Korea has supplied Russia with weapons worth $5.5 billion, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom reports. For comparison, the DPRK's entire production volume is estimated at $23.7 billion - that is, the country has made a significant profit from the war in Ukraine. Experts predict that this income could increase by hundreds of millions of dollars if North Korean troops take direct part in the war. At the same time, trade in other goods between the countries has also increased significantly: up to $52.9 million in the first half of 2024, compared to $34.4 million last year.

15:31 Zelensky said that he arrived in Iceland for the first time on a working visit, during which he will take part in the fourth Ukraine-Northern Europe summit and hold bilateral talks with its participants: the prime ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden. It is planned to discuss the "victory plan", financing of Ukrainian production of weapons and long-range vehicles, maritime security, defense support, training and equipping of Ukrainian soldiers, etc.

15:14 Partisans together with the GUR blew up a bridge in occupied Berdyansk, Ukrainian media write, citing sources. The destruction of the bridge completely paralyzed the railway communication with Berdyansk and, as a result, made it impossible to deliver fuel and lubricants, weapons and ammunition to the occupation forces.

14:26 If elected US President, Trump intends to "move at breakneck speed" to stop the war in Ukraine along the front lines, but he will leave the provision of security guarantees for Kiev to Europe, the Financial Times writes, citing sources. According to them, Trump will not invite Ukraine to NATO in the short term, but will instead propose concluding agreements like Minsk-3 with "enforcement mechanisms and consequences for violating the agreement." At the same time, European troops, not NATO forces or UN peacekeepers, will have to monitor the implementation of the agreements.

"America will insist on two things. We will have no men or women in the enforcement mechanism. We are not paying for this. Europe is paying for this," the newspaper's source said. Trump's allies say that "Ukraine is losing the war, and therefore seeking a settlement is morally right." According to the FT, Trump is influenced by three groups, two of which "are united in wanting to leave Ukraine to Europe." The third wants "the projection of American power around the world."

13:42 North Korean troops have already been deployed for combat operations in the Kursk region, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said. According to him, on the morning of October 28, the South Korean delegation informed NATO, as well as Japan, Australia and New Zealand, that its intelligence services were aware of the presence of North Korean troops in Russia and their involvement in the war in Ukraine.

"Today I can confirm that North Korean troops have been sent to Russia and that North Korean units have been sent to the Kursk region. This deployment of North Korean troops, firstly, signifies a significant escalation in the involvement of the DPRK in Russia's criminal war. Secondly, it is another violation of the UN Security Council resolution. Thirdly, it is a dangerous expansion of the Russian war," Rutte said. He called on Moscow and Pyongyang to immediately stop these actions, which threaten both Pacific and Euro-Atlantic security.

"But at the same time, the involvement of North Korean troops in the Kursk region is a sign of Putin's growing desperation... He cannot support an offensive against Ukraine without support from abroad. NATO allies will continue to support a free and independent Ukraine, because Ukraine's security is our security," the Secretary General assured.

13:10 The Wall Street Journal writes that the North Korean troops that will be sent to the front lines of Russia and Ukraine are not elite representatives of Kim Jong-un's army. Intelligence and video footage indicate that the soldiers include many teenagers and young men who are likely just starting their service. They look short and thin, which indicates a problem with malnutrition in the DPRK.

Moreover, these soldiers were trained in the mountains of South Korea, focusing on special forces tasks, which is not quite suitable for warfare in the flatlands of Ukraine. Their equipment is outdated, and the soldiers themselves may never have left the country. South Korean Defense Minister Kim En Hyun called them "mercenaries with cannon fodder."

12:03 The Russian army struck Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region with a kamikaze drone, wounding two children aged 12 and 13, reported the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.

11:39 Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada bills on extending mobilization and martial law for another 90 days - until February 7, 2025.

11:34 Due to the consequences of the night enemy attacks, emergency shutdowns have been introduced in certain areas of the Sumy and Poltava regions, Ukrenergo reported.

11:30 Air defense destroyed 66 out of 100 enemy UAVs (Shahed type and unspecified type) in Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy regions at night. Most of the enemy drones were shot down in Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Khmelnytskyi regions, the Air Force reported. In addition, 24 drones were lost in location, four flew away in the direction of the Russian Federation and Belarus. Several UAV hits on civilian infrastructure were recorded.

11:21 Zaporizhia Oblast must become a fortress, said the head of the OVA Ivan Fedorov. According to him, the efforts of the military and local authorities are currently aimed at creating the second and third lines of defense, and defense structures are regularly improved to respond to new threats. In particular, anti-drone nets are installed for this purpose.

"The second line is already 99.9% complete, the third line will be completed in the coming weeks. Next, the defense of the cities is being built, and it will be completed within the timeframe set by the General Staff," noted the head of the Zaporizhzhya OVA.

11:08 Zelensky said in an interview with The Times of India that the third point of the "victory plan" on containing Russia does not involve the use of missiles. According to him, it is about a package of long-range weapons that Ukraine will not use if Russia stops its aggression. "This package should be in Ukraine. This is a preventive weapon, that is, a warning to Russia: stop killing people! And this point is addressed to the countries that have these weapons," the president explained.

The "victory plan" itself, according to Zelensky, is not the topic of negotiations with Moscow: "This is a plan to strengthen Ukraine now and today. Strengthening before we have diplomatic negotiating formats. That is why we are addressing this plan to countries that are ready to strengthen Ukraine. This is a very specific request."

The head of state also stressed that the first point of the plan is not NATO membership, but an invitation to the Alliance, so that in the future no one can change their position and everything is legally approved. Zelensky recalled that Ukraine cannot become a NATO member during the war and does not want to involve other countries in the war.

10:54 Zelensky said in an interview with The Times of India that India could become a place for peace talks. He also believes that India is capable of influencing the end of the war: "This is the great value of India, a population of one and a half billion, which has real influence. Blocking the Russian economy, blocking cheap energy resources, blocking the military-industrial complex from the Russian Federation will give a shorter term to their war against us."

The president also noted that the G20 countries could quickly stop the war: "The entire war always depends on food for war - and this is economics, this is exclusively money. Therefore, 20 large economies can easily put Putin in his place."

As for the BRICS summit, Zelensky believes that it failed: "We did not see many of the leaders that Russia was counting on. This suggests that there is no union in BRICS. Putin himself is dividing BRICS with his war policy. I believe that he really wants to polarize the world and divide it into the "so-called West" and "BRICS+."

The President added that those who were at the BRICS summit and "spoke about their neutrality, spoke about wanting to help resolve this conflict, look more pro-Russian." According to him, neutrality in this war is support for the Russian side, since it helps Moscow exclusively. "There can be no neutrality between the aggressor and the victim," Zelensky emphasized.

10:22 The Russians are trying to increase the pace of their offensive in the Liman area of Donetsk Oblast and have transferred additional assault units of the 283rd and 488th motorized rifle regiments of the Russian Armed Forces there, Ukrainian military intelligence reported. The defense forces have inflicted serious losses on the newly introduced Russian troops, and individual assault groups have lost their combat capability.

09:14 At night and the previous evening, the enemy shelled Kharkiv with KABs, 13 people were injured, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov. One of the shells hit a nine-story residential building, partially destroying the walls on the ninth floor. 21 private houses were also damaged. In addition, at night, the Russians shelled Chuguev, eight people were injured, including five children.

08:51 In Donetsk region on October 27, as a result of Russian shelling, one person was wounded in Uspenovka, reported the head of the OVA Vadim Filashkin.

08:13 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of October 28:

  • personnel - about 690,720 (+1680) people,

  • tanks - 9120 (+7),

  • combat armored vehicles - 18,395 (+40),

  • artillery systems - 19,872 (+51),

  • automotive equipment and tank trucks - 27,660 (+100),

07:57 On the evening of October 27, Russian troops fired artillery at residential buildings in the Central District of Kherson - two people were killed and two more were wounded, reported the head of the OVA Oleksandr Prokudin. In total, over the previous day, five people were killed in the region as a result of Russian shelling, 13 were wounded, including one child.

07:28 Russians have used drones to strike critical energy infrastructure facilities in the Konotop district of Sumy Oblast, the OVA reported. One person was wounded in the Seredino-Buda community as a result of enemy shelling.

01:46 Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState reports that the Russian army has occupied Gornyak in the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region, and has also advanced into Selydove, Bogoyavlenka, Novoukrainka, near Shakhtarskoye in Donetsk region and Novoalekseevka in Kherson region.

‘Extremist influencer' Candace Owens' Australian visa cancelled by immigration minister
[SydneyMorningHerald] Extremist US provocateur Candace Owens
…Ms Owens — Mrs. George Farmer since her marriage in 2019 to the conservative head of Parler and Turning Point UK, son of businessman, Conservative politician, philosemite, and life peer Baron Michael Farmer — has expressed opinions all over the map on many subjects. Whether it is fair to say that her opinions change to please or shock her listeners at the moment, I couldn’t say.
Australian visa has been cancelled, as the Labor government warns that her attacks on Jewish, Muslim and trans people have the capacity to incite discord.

Immigration Minister Tony Burke confirmed that the Donald Trump-aligned influencer – who has claimed that Israel was founded by a “cult” and that “secret Jewish gangs” operate in Hollywood – would not be allowed in Australia as federal Labor attempts to lower the temperature on domestic protests about the war in the Middle East.

“From downplaying the impact of the Holocaust with comments about [German SS officer Josef] Mengele through to claims that Muslims started slavery, Candace Owens has the capacity to incite discord in almost every direction,” he said.

“Australia’s national interest is best served when Candace Owens is somewhere else.”

Owens rose to fame for her conservative activism. She was a communications director for Turning Point USA from 2017 to 2019 and in 2021 joined conservative media company The Daily Wire to host her own political talk show. However, in March this year she was dismissed following a series of antisemitic comments.

She now hosts her own YouTube channel and has 18 million online followers. Owens’ comments have included describing Mengele’s experiments on Auschwitz prisoners as “bizarre propaganda”.

Jewish groups called for Owens’ visa to be cancelled in August as Burke indicated he would block it, telling this masthead: “Tickets to these events are selling for $100. I hope she has a good refunds policy.”

Coalition immigration spokesman Dan Tehan also said in August that Labor should block Owens’ visa to avoid the spread of “hateful messages”.

Owens vowed to push on with her Australian tour in defiance of the calls to reject her visa. Speaking on Sydney radio station 2GB in August, the far-right influencer – who thinks Trump has become too moderate –
Her husband must love her very, very much. One wonders if she really believes the silly things she says, or if it’s just to generate clicks from her 18 million followers.
said she was excited about travelling to Australia for her November tour.

“It’s kind of incredible to think people could be so fearful of just speech and conversation,” she told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

“I was quite surprised to see that: they were like ‘Don’t give her a visa, she’s a bad person’. But I promise you it is not going to harm you to hear different ideas.”

The event website describes Owens’ tour as a delivery of “raw and unfiltered commentary on politics, culture and everyday life” as ticket costs range from $95 to $1500.

Shows are scheduled in November in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Entertainment company Rocksman is listed as the host for Owens’ tour, which describes itself as an organisation that specialises in “helping businesses and individuals develop strong personal and corporate brands”.

Democrats ignored Hunter Biden's foreign lobbying, but now want probe of Trump son-in-law
That'd be the guy who negotiated the Abraham Accords.
[JustTheNews] Just eleven days before the election, senior congressional Democrats called on the Justice Department to investigate Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, for possible violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), citing standards they waived aside in the Biden impeachment investigation.

The letter sent to the Department of Justice on Friday came from House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden.

“The scale of these undisclosed foreign payments to Mr. Kushner coupled with the national security implications of his apparent ongoing efforts to sell political influence to the highest foreign bidder are unprecedented and demand action from DOJ,” Raskin and Wyden wrote.

"UNPRECEDENTED"?
If the allegations sound familiar, that’s because they are almost exactly what House Republicans accused Hunter Biden of doing.

Cloud of hot plasma from solar flare reaches Earth
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On Monday, a cloud of solar plasma reached the Earth, a magnetic storm did not occur, although its occurrence cannot be ruled out. This was announced on October 28 by the Laboratory of X-ray Astronomy of the Sun of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The second 'promised' plasma cloud reached Earth in the morning. The ejection front was quite sharp, and for this reason the moment of arrival was measured quite accurately - around 07:15 Moscow time," the publication says.

Scientists added that the probability of a magnetic storm is high, since the impact from the plasma cloud is strong.

"There is no storm yet (the Earth's magnetic field is holding up), although the impact is generally strong, despite the fact that the impact is coming from the edge. However, it is unlikely that this "strength" will last the entire day, so we will most likely announce a storm in a while," the laboratory reported.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Earth's magnetosphere may be rocked by the solar wind. The Phobos weather center announced on October 15 that the Earth will pass through a stream of fast solar wind, as a result of which weak disturbances in the geomagnetic field are expected.

American drone bombs car in Hadhramaut
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] An American drone targeted at dawn on Monday a civilian car in the Ghayl bin Yamin district in Hadhramaut province in eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, which led to destroying the car and charring the bodies of those on board.

The incident occurred after a meeting of the leaders of the Hadhramaut Tribal Confederacy in the area.

The drone was reported to have been following the car, which was carrying an element of the al-Qaeda organization, according to local sources.

Activists from Hadhramaut considered the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
a clear threat to limit the legitimate demands of the Hadhramaut Tribal Confederacy, which had been announced in July and the American embassy expressed dissatisfaction with.

The strike occurred before the arrival of Hadhramaut Governor, Mabkhout bin Madi, loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, arrived to hold a meeting with the coalition leadership

Mezhiev condemns the ban on hijabs in schools in the Vladimir region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The Mufti of Chechnya, Salah Mezhiev, called the ban on wearing hijabs in educational institutions in the Vladimir region unconstitutional, and the Coordination Center for Muslims of the North Caucasus, which he heads, called for a legislative ban on regions adopting such decrees.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus (CCMNC) spoke out against the ban on wearing religious clothing in schools. However, it had previously approved the ban on wearing the niqab. The Coordination Center reminded that it is necessary to separate the hijab and the niqab. On July 13, the center appealed to the President of Russia and the State Duma with a request not to adopt the bill of its vice-speaker Vladislav Davankov on the ban on religious clothing. The muftis of the North Caucasus stated that this decision violates the rights of believers. The government  rejected the bill.

The order to ban hijabs in educational institutions of the Vladimir region violates the Constitution, said today the mufti of Chechnya, head of the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus Salakh Mezhiyev. He recalled that Russia is a multinational and multi-confessional country, and the ban "specifically and only Islamic religious clothing" is puzzling.

"Islam prescribes that Muslim women wear clothing that covers parts of the body except for the face, hands and feet. We emphasize once again that the legislation of the Russian Federation does not restrict the wearing of the hijab, moreover, it allows photographing in the hijab to obtain a passport. In this regard, there can be no talk of a ban on the hijab, and therefore no violation of the Constitution of the Russian Federation," Mezhiev emphasized.

"Calls to ban the wearing of hijabs in educational institutions are not aimed at ensuring national security. Such calls are illegal," says Mezhiyev's statement, published on October 28 on the Telegram channel of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya.

A similar statement was published on October 28 by the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus, headed by Mezhiev. Its authors called on "fighters against girls' headscarves" to direct their efforts toward the formation of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values in educational institutions of the Russian Federation, rather than engaging in "populist illegal bans on religious clothing."

The KCMSC called for "a legal assessment" of the ban on wearing hijabs and "the adoption of legislative acts at the state level that provide for the impossibility of the adoption by the authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation or other bodies of regulations regarding the possibility of banning the wearing of mandatory religious clothing in the Russian Federation," the center's Telegram channel says.

The Ministry of Education and Youth Policy of the Vladimir Region has supplemented the standard requirements for students' clothing with a clause banning hijabs, niqabs and other elements demonstrating the religious affiliation of students. The order of the Ministry of Education and Youth Policy of the Vladimir Region dated October 22 was published on the legal information portal, RIA Novosti reported on October 28.

Australia's peak civil rights body votes against free speech at annual general meeting
[LettersFromAustralia] Australia’s peak “civil liberties defender” voted to reject freedom of speech as an important civil liberty at its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

The NSW Council for Civil Liberties meeting began with a speech by NSW Surveillance Devices Commissioner Don McKenzie on the procedural technicalities of how police get warrants to spy on you.

The meeting then proceeded until the opportunity arose for motions without notice.

I requested the following motion:

“That the NSW Council for Civil Liberties recognises freedom of speech as one of the most important civil liberties we have, and that it’s under attack right now - the worst attack we’ve seen in a generation - and that the NSW Council for Civil Liberties will do its best to try to support freedom of speech.”

Censorship laws now before the Parliament directly threaten everything you can hear, see, share or say on the internet, especially independent media such as Letters From Australia on Substack.

Take a minute now, before you go to crazy town, to watch the most entertaining defense of free speech ever made, below.
Twenty-minute video from 2006 of the wonderful Christopher Hitchens on free speech can be watched at the link.
You would not think this motion was controversial at a Council for Civil Liberties - but you would be wrong.

Eyes widened, heads wobbled, the elderly awoke: it was on like Donkey Kong.

A group of Council members, led in opposition by Treasurer Stephen Blanks and his former intern Josh Pallas (a former Council President), voted it down, 18 to 12.

It’s ironic that Stephen Blanks was the most vocal opponent to free speech, speaking the longest against it, because his executive bio on the Council’s website says it is his special interest, having once defended a publisher bullied by a NSW Government agency.

The agency was writing to major booksellers, telling them not to sell the publisher’s book, his bio says.

Here is a Bill that seeks to censor the entire internet - the largest book fair the world has ever seen - through social media platforms (akin to his booksellers), and now he loves it.

Stephen Blanks said he is favour of censoring the internet as long as that power is shared by ACMA with the courts, based on a European model. Individuals could claim to be harmed by “misinformation” (being wrong) and apply to the courts for even more censorship than is now on the table. He calls this “democratisation” of the censorship.

Note that “democratisation” here means “sharing power with other institutions” not “giving power to the public as expressed by vote”. It would mean rich people, institutions and political gangs would game the court system to erase your dissent.

Here he is on October 17 telling the Senate Committee how important it is to censor “misinformation” (being wrong) on a European model.

His former protégé Josh Pallas is a University of Wollongong law graduate studying a PhD in “preventive detention and supervision laws” at the University of Sydney. He was put in the Council by the University of Wollongong Law School as an intern under Stephen Blanks, his bio says.

Josh Pallas opposed free speech, on the grounds that the Council are “unashamedly not free speech absolutists” and have had a “carefully considered approach since 1963” which is “nuanced”.

Translated for normal people, that means: “we’re the experts, shut up.”

A spirited defence was mounted by long-time council member Billy Field who said free speech is the only protection against despots and tyrants, and that the very purpose of the council’s existance is to stand up for these important rights.

Journalist David Southwell spoke powerfully, reminding the room that governments lie regularly and that to submit to any arbiter of truth is to abandon free speech and its defence.

What follows is an unofficial transcript of the entire episode. At bottom are links to the Council’s new submission on the censorship bill so you can read for yourself how they support expanding this new 2024 assault on free speech, and how they reference a weak and bogus academic study riddled with errors.

As this censorship bill legally formalises what the government was already doing during covid, I have also uploaded a copy of vaccine-injured support group Coverse’s submission at bottom so you can read precisely how it will devastate medical science and punch down on those already injured by the mandated gene-vaccines.

Read on for how a simple support for free speech was obfuscated, dismantled, and defeated by Australia’s peak “civil rights” body.
The rest of the post is the transcript.

#1  The Political Theology That Maintains State Power

Lee Smith Exposes Obama's ‘Destructive' Shadow Network, Says Kamala Harris's Presidency Would Be ‘Another Four-Year Term'
[Breitbart] Author and journalist Lee Smith discussed his new book, Disappearing the President: Trump, Truth Social, and the Fight for the Republic, during an exclusive interview on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Saturday, in which he revealed former President Barack Obama’s “shadow network” and the role it has played during the last eight years in trying to destroy the America First movement and prolong his influence.

In fact, Smith said, Obama placed Harris in the vice presidency — against President Joe Biden’s wishes — and her candidacy is “another four-year term on the line” for him.

Smith told host Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle about this shadow network:

There are powerful political interests and corporate interests, and there are donors and there are lawyers who are part of this shadow network. And at the top of this pyramid of the shadow network is Donald Trump’s predecessor, the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama. A lot of people have recognized this. Unfortunately, though, we have not turned our attention to this sufficiently, right? People will sort of mention on social media or the word of that, yeah, it’s all about Obama. Well, what I’ve done here is I’ve put together all of the documentation. I’ve shown how all these different strands of the anti-Trump campaign, whether it’s surveillance, censorship, political violence, interfering elections, the origin point for all of these campaigns is all at the same place. It’s Barack Obama.

Smith explained that referring to this network as the “deep state” makes the fight against it “unwinnable”:

The thing to do is to pick the leadership and to go after the leadership. This is what prosecutors do, and they’re going after organized crime. And of course, this is what Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has done with the America First movement…when they targeted Michael Flynn, when they targeted Roger Stone, when they targeted other Trump aides and Trump supporters. The idea was they wanted it to lead to destroying Donald Trump. Then they went after Donald Trump himself.

“My case is to understand what’s happened the last eight years. We must understand the political powers and the rationale for this, why Donald Trump was targeted, and who did the targeting?” Smith said.

Smith said a Trump win would be the “end to Barack Obama’s immensely destructive influence and campaign against not only our political system, but also against American society and our culture as well our culture, traditions and history and after the election.”

“The important thing is how we go after this and how we dismantle it again. It’s not about an amorphous entity like the deep state. It’s about a select group of people, at the top of which is Barack Obama, lawyers, donors. The names are all well known, but what I’ve done is I put them all together in the same room so that everyone sees how this actual operation has been going since 2016,” he said.

Smith said Obama has even gone public with his shadow network after Democrats moved out Biden and emplaced Harris.

“Obama aides were regularly leaking, talking about this openly. ‘Well, Obama wants this. Well, Barack says that.’ If they’re doing it, and Barack Obama continually is raising his hand, waving his hand, saying, ‘Hey, it’s me,’ it’s okay for the opposition to say, ‘You know, it’s Barack Obama who’s running the show,'” Smith said.

“If they keep saying it, it makes no sense for us, at least, to acknowledge what’s really happening,” he said, adding:

That’s who’s running the Kamala Harris campaign. That’s who chose Kamala Harris, right. That’s who chose Kamala Harris for the vice president slot in 2020. Remember how furious Joe Biden was that Harris, Harris wound up in the number two slot after she had called Joe Biden a racist, right? Obama had picked Kamala Harris to be his top candidate for 2020. He was directing money. He was directing the media all toward Kamala Harris and she bombed. What did he do? Then he moved her into place as the number two pick behind Biden. What we’re seeing now was always going to happen. He was always going to push Harris into the number one slot, and that’s where we are right now. It’s another four-year term on the line for Barack Obama’s shadow presidency.

Smith said he also discusses how Obama “absorbed big tech,” and orchestrated the censorship of Trump supporters.

“Barack Obama pulls aside Mark Zuckerberg at a conference in Lima, Peru, 10 days after the 2016 election, and reams him out. Why? Because Donald Trump was given an opportunity to use what these people have been promoting as free speech platforms, and that’s when the censorship campaign kicks in,” he said.

“That’s when Obama starts going around threatening, threatening Big Tech people saying, ‘you have to keep Trump, and you have to keep these MAGA people, the America First people, off of the internet.’ So it actually starts with Barack Obama,” he said.

“The COVID piece is very important, because that’s when it became really, really obvious, right? When they were throwing people off, they were throwing people off the social media, and they were worried not just about COVID, when they were complaining, not just about the COVID regulations or mandates, but also when people were criticizing the COVID related new voting procedures designed to facilitate ballot fraud, right? So they were throwing people off, and that was a crucial moment, because that really showed everyone how insidious the censorship campaign was,” he added.

“But it really begins again, and this is what the book does, repeatedly, tying things back, showing how this all starts with different Obama initiatives. It starts in 2016 when he’s talking to Mark Zuckerberg, and he reams him out for letting Trump get his message across on Facebook,” he said. “That’s a really important part of the book.”

Afghanistan
CHR - New Intel: Sources Report Terrorists in Afghanistan Taking A Page From October 7 Playbook
[CatherineHerridgeReports] "The system is blinking red," a former special operator said. "No one wants to be in the room when the Afghanistan grenade goes off."

The new reporting underscores concern that terrorist groups, including Al Qaeda, are strengthening their foothold in Afghanistan.

DEEP DIVE
Vice President and now Presidential candidate Kamala Harris once boasted that when President Biden made the final call to pull US troops from Afghanistan she was the last person in the room.

Three years later, a recent UN report left no doubt Al Qaeda is building out its infrastructure in Afghanistan.

The UN monitoring team found, "Al-Qaida cells are operating in multiple Afghan provinces, mainly in the south-east of the country." And "While the Taliban have done much to constrain the activities of Al-Qaida and their affiliates...its reorganization and training activities, as well as new travel into Afghanistan, indicate that the group still uses Afghanistan as a permissive haven under the Taliban, raising questions about Al-Qaida’s intent."

Credible sources now describe footage that suggests small terrorist cells, primarily Al Qaeda, training with ultralights and paragliders in Afghanistan. The sources describe the terrorists as "taking a page from the October 7 playbook" by mirroring the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) of the 2023 Hamas attack which killed more than 1200 people in Israel.

The raw intelligence and reports also describe operatives trained to build light aircraft and drones from "off the shelf" materials available in large home improvement stores. As described, the idea is not to export equipment from Afghanistan, but to build it once an operative is inserted near the target. These small cells apparently have cooperation from the Taliban who, in some cases, monitor training sessions.

The reporting comes through credible sources and I draw no conclusions about potential contact between al Qaeda and Hamas. As described, the most innocuous analysis is the footage was designed to boost morale among fighters and for fundraising.

Another intelligence stream details that in recent months an Al Qaeda operative traveled from Afghanistan to Saudi Arabia for financing, tasked with developing a weaponized drone capability for use against the US or its interests overseas.

That said, I understand the reporting has been shared at senior levels of the Defense Department, Homeland Security and likely CIA. They have the ability to investigate, to assess the credibility of the reports, and most importantly, they have a duty to warn.

My contacts say there is a sense of urgency among field agents and officers who are aware of the raw intelligence, but there is a "head in the sand" attitude at more senior levels. Multiple sources explained, "No one wants to turn over the Afghanistan rock."

The presence of these camps, and the threats they pose are amplified by the American military hardware that the Biden administration abandoned in Afghanistan. In 2021, reporters were told and the public was reassured that the equipment would fall into disrepair.

This has proven false. Images shared with our team from multiple sectors in Afghanistan suggest every level of the armed forces from police to military are leveraging our ballistic helmets, gloves, boots, optics, body armor and weapons.

By summer, as I pulled the threads on the Afghanistan story, the warnings became more alarming. NGOs and other groups who work with the US-based Afghan community voiced some of the deepest concerns. They were, understandably, reluctant to go on the record, fearing retaliation from the administration.

Intelligence is like a mosaic. Slowly the pieces fall into place. It is a partial picture at best, but it suggests a landscape that is beginning to mirror pre-9/11 Afghanistan. Twenty-three years ago, the safe haven in Afghanistan afforded al Qaeda the freedom to train, to recruit and to raise money for the 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.

On Saturday, seeking comment, our team emailed the media contact for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which has oversight for the US intelligence community. When there was no response, and with the Sunday afternoon deadline approaching, we re-upped our questions adding the Defense Department, Homeland Security and CIA.

The DoD duty officer and a CIA spokesperson responded. Both said they could look into our query Monday. Our questions focus on intelligence community efforts to determine credibility of the intel, risk to national security and briefings to congressional committees with oversight, including armed services and intelligence.

One of the most famous chapters in the 9/11 Commission Report is called, "The System was Blinking Red." It contains the painful chronology and missed opportunities to disrupt the 9/11 hijackers in the summer of 2001.

"As (CIA Director) Tenet told us, ’The system was blinking red in the Summer of 2001.’ Officials were alerted across the world. Many were doing everything they possibly could to respond to the threats. Yet no one working on these late leads in the Summer of 2001 connected the case in his or her in-box to the threat reports agitating senior officials and being briefed to the President.."

Twenty-three years later, the warnings are there. Political sensitivities should not hinder efforts to acknowledge and disrupt emerging threats in Afghanistan.

The article below, published in 8am (Hasht-e Subh Daily), has been sitting, half-edited, for a while because I’ve been too busy with life to finish the job — and at roughly 3000 words it was easy to push off to later. But it relates to Joe of the Jungle’s submission so it’s time to share under his headline, even without doing all the work I intended. The acquisition was triggered by a Media Line piece linked by Grom the Reflective in September in comments:

Hamza bin Laden’s return: Al-Qaida’s revival in Afghanistan sparks global terror fears: Terror group leader's survival and resurgence could signify al-Qaida’s most significant revival since the Iraq War, leading to worry across the world.

Herewith the opening of the piece — the rest can be read at the link.
The Taliban Host Terrorist Groups: Four New Settlements Built for Al-Qaeda and TTP
30.June 2024
The Hasht-e Subh Daily has obtained information indicating that the Taliban are constructing a well-equipped base with residential houses for the al-Qaeda network in the Malekuddin area of Nawa district, Ghazni province. Additionally, they are building three settlements for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in the Dasht-e Bagh-e Attar area of Qarabagh district, Dasht-e Kabuli area of Waghaz district, and Kotal-e Rouza on the outskirts of Ghazni city. These settlements, in addition to residential houses, also include large religious schools and equipped dormitories, with some nearing completion.

Simultaneously, TTP members have chosen specific areas in Ghazni for relocating their families, with plans to move there soon. One of the TTP factions relocating to Ghazni is led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, a TTP commander who has carried out extensive attacks against the Pakistani military. Furthermore, the findings of this report indicate that Haji Furqan (Uighur), a commander of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) and a senior member of al-Qaeda, is residing in a guesthouse of Sirajuddin Haqqani in the Sherpur area of Kabul.

The findings from the Hasht-e Subh Daily in Ghazni province show that the Taliban are engaged in constructing four residential settlements with large religious schools and other security measures for the relocation of al-Qaeda and TTP members. According to the report, the construction of some of these settlements and religious schools in Ghazni is nearing completion. Information suggests that a settlement with a Madrasa in the Nawa district of Ghazni is being built for al-Qaeda, while the other three settlements are exclusively for TTP members and will soon be operational. The report also indicates that alongside the residential settlements, the Taliban have constructed large religious school buildings with all amenities, funded by the Haqqani network.

Bay Area Transit Workers Fired for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine Now to Get Paid
[Epoch Times] On Oct. 23, a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California sided with six former San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) workers who had refused to get the vaccine for religious purposes. BART was ordered to pay the group more than $7.8 million, with each individual receiving between $1.2 million and $1.5 million, the Pacific Justice Institute, which represented the transit workers in the trial, said in a statement on Oct. 24.

According to the law firm, the jury also agreed with the figures that the plaintiffs had provided for lost wages that they had suffered after losing their jobs. The jury then added $1 million each to those figures.

"The rail employees chose to lose their livelihood rather than deny their faith. That in itself shows the sincerity and depth of their convictions," lead trial attorney, said. "After nearly three years of struggle, these essential workers feel they were heard and understood by the jury and are overjoyed and relieved by the verdict."

McDonald's Quarter Pounder is Back
[Epoch Times] McDonald’s announced Sunday that Quarter Pounders will again be on its menu at hundreds of its restaurants after testing ruled out beef patties as the source of the outbreak of E. coli poisoning tied to the popular burgers that killed one person and sickened at least 75 others across 13 states.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration continues to believe that slivered onions from a single supplier are the likely source of contamination, McDonald’s said in a statement. It said it will resume selling the Quarter Pounder at affected restaurants—without slivered onions—in the coming week.

McDonald’s has confirmed that Taylor Farms, a California-based produce company, was the supplier of the fresh onions used in the restaurants involved in the outbreak, and that they had come from a facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Interesting, to note it seems almost timed to happened along with the Trump McDonald's political event.

Raised Questions:

Why only the "McDonald's" 1/4 pounder, doesn't the Onion grower sell onions to other places?

Does McDonald's have 2 sets of Onions?
1 for the 1/4 pounders, and another for other meal items?

Yes, the 1/4 Lb's use raw onions. The others are cooked, killing E. Coli

'Shut it down': Red state [TX] makes massive land buy to ramp up border wall efforts amid migrant surge
[FoxNews] The state of Texas has taken another major step in its efforts to build a wall at its border with Mexico, acquiring a 1,400 acre ranch along the Rio Grande in a key area that officials say has seen human trafficking, as well as weapons and drug smuggling.

The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has acquired the ranch in Starr County, in Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Sector, which saw some of the highest levels of migrant traffic. The state will now use that land to build additional border wall.

Iron Beam bolstered: Israel expands laser defense with NIS two billion deal
[Jpost] The Defense Ministry announced on Monday that it signed an agreement with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems valued at around NIS two billion ($534 million) to significantly expand its acquisition of Iron Beam laser interception systems.

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems are Israeli defense technology companies.

The agreement was signed the day after the Defense Ministry’s Director-General Eyal Zamir signed an order to broaden the laser system’s production, the ministry said.

"Since the outbreak of the war, the Defense Ministry has signed hundreds of orders worth tens of billions of shekels" to strengthen the country’s independence by manufacturing products in Israel and "to build up the IDF’s capabilities," Zamir said. "Our primary goal is to reduce reliance on external sources and to bolster the Israeli industry," he further added.
A wise approach, given how many countries suddenly decided that virtue signalling to their Moslem colonists is more important than fulfilling arms contracts with Israel.
On its website, Rafael described the Iron Beam as a "100kW class, high energy laser weapon system" that is anticipated to be the first such system in its class.

#2  The pricing of successful shootdowns shows a beam costs about $3.50 a successful shot, followed by CRAM at about $8250.00 then it jumps to the multi-hundred thousand then mid-10s of millions then tops out around 99 million per shot so this is a good choice

true the marginal cost of each shot is pretty low

however I think there will need to be a pretty dense network of beam stations along the border and/or protecting interior assets so the capital cost may end up pretty high, surely far above the 2B NIS

sometime in the future, a beam device mounted on a UAV could make the entire missile capacity of Iran uselss

It was a long tunnel with a mirror on one end and the other a 45 degree beam splitter. A nuclear bomb in the middle. The 45 degree aimed up with a tower with an aiming mirror. The idea was that it would make a laser beam that could be made when the bomb exploded and have about %0.1 of the bombs power in the beam...

22 Palestinians killed in Gaza from Israeli raids, 100,000 still trapped in north Gaza; Israel withdraws from Jabalia hospital raid, taking dozens of Hamasniks for questioning
[GEO.TV] Israeli raids in Gaza have killed 22 people since this morning, 13 of them in the north of the Strip, medical sources told Al Jazeera.

Moreover, the Israeli Army Radio reported arrest of over 600 Palestinians from the Jabalia refugee camp and northern Gaza.

At least three killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza’s Shujayea
[GEO.TV] Israeli attack on a group of people in the Shujayea neighbourhood in Gaza City has killed at least three people, reported Al Jazeera.

100,000 residents trapped in Israel's north Gaza assault
[GEO.TV] Israeli tanks thrust deeper on Monday into two north Gaza towns and a historic refugee camp, trapping around 100,000 civilians, the Palestinian emergency service said, in what the military said were operations to root out regrouping Hamas militants.

The Gaza Strip's health ministry said at least 19 people were killed by Israeli airstrikes and bombardment on Monday, 13 of them in the north of the shattered coastal territory.

The view from Israel:
IDF ends raid against Hamas at north Gaza hospital, says dozens of suspects detained
Among arrested Palestinians are terrorists who participated in Oct. 7 onslaught; detainee says Hamas uses ambulances meant for civilians to transport terror operatives

Israeli troops have withdrawn from the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday, having wrapped up a raid launched Friday against Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
operatives it said were using the Jabalia hospital as a command and control base. The hospital raid did not bring the IDF’s activities in northern Gaza to a close, however, with the military saying that according to its assessments, hundreds more Hamas operatives remain in the Jabalia area. Thus, it said, the operation launched there three weeks ago would continue.

In the weeks before the hospital raid, the military said it enabled the evacuation of patients and staff from the compound while ensuring that the medical center’s emergency systems continued to function, including by activating an additional generator for patients on life support. Hundreds of civilians using the hospital as a shelter were also evacuated from the area, the IDF said.

Kamal Adwan is the last functioning hospital in Gaza’s north. The facility said that the shortages it has struggled with since the start of the war last year have been increasingly aggravated by the latest Israeli offensive in the north of the Strip.

The IDF said that some 40 terror operatives were detained during the evacuations from the hospital, and the Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit detained dozens more during the subsequent raid, including some who had participated in the October 7 terror onslaught in southern Israel. The detained operatives were taken to Israel for further questioning.

The IDF released footage from the interrogation of a detained individual, who identified himself as a driver and paramedic for Kamal Adwan Hospital and al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City. He alleged in the footage that Hamas was using ambulances at the hospital to move operatives around.

"Hamas military operatives are present. They are in the courtyards, at the gates of the buildings, in the offices," he said when asked about the terror group’s operations around Kamal Adwan Hospital.

"They operate ambulances to transport their maimed military operatives and to transport them for their missions," he went on. "This is instead of using the ambulances for the benefit of civilians."

"We, the public in the northern Gaza Strip, are sick of this situation," he said when asked if he had anything more to add. "We have had enough; they [Hamas] are stationed in the hospitals, stationed in the schools."

The military said that troops operating inside the hospital and in the surrounding area located weapons, cash and documents belonging to Hamas. Some 20 button men were killed during fighting in the area surrounding the hospital, the IDF said.

Footage circulated by the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry claimed to show damage to several buildings after Israeli forces withdrew. The footage could not be independently verified.

Throughout its wider, ongoing operation in Jabalia and the surrounding area, the IDF said it has detained and killed hundreds of terror operatives. At the same time, it said that some 50,000 Paleostinians have been evacuated from the area.

The raid on Jabalia began with the 162nd Division’s 401st and 460th armored brigades encircling the area’s refugee camp (historically named, with no relation to the current war), following intelligence that Hamas’s remaining forces in the northern Gaza Strip were largely concentrated there and working to regroup. The IDF’s Givati Brigade later joined in the operation, and on Sunday, the 460th Brigade withdrew from the area. The operation, however, is still ongoing.

After encircling the camp, the army worked to clear civilians out and detain members of Hamas and other terror groups hiding among them. The goal was to prevent Hamas operatives from fleeing the area, and to force them to surrender or fight, IDF sources said. Within 24 hours of the operation’s launch, the civilian population began to slowly evacuate, the sources said.

Hamas was surprised by the military’s quick push into the area, the IDF sources said, and hundreds of its members — including top commanders — were trapped.

Still, the evacuation of the civilian population took longer than the army initially expected, the sources said, as Hamas was allegedly holding them back. According to the sources, Hamas was physically preventing civilians from leaving shelters, including by shooting at the legs of some trying to flee. Eventually, troops reached the shelters and called upon those inside to come out, which the sources said "broke the fear barrier" that the Paleostinian civilians had.

Over 50,000 Paleostinians passed through the army’s checkpoints, with those suspected of being terror operatives — mainly fighting-age males — being detained for questioning. In all, the IDF said that some 600 Paleostinians it identified as terror operatives were arrested at its checkpoints during the evacuation of the civilian population from Jabalia.

Some claimed that IDF soldiers have targeted those trying to flee — a charge that the army denies.

The evacuated civilians have headed south, mostly to Gaza City — not south of the Netzarim Corridor where the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone is located.

Several hundred thousand civilians who are either unable or unwilling to evacuate are still believed to be in northern Gaza, despite repeated calls for them to relocate to designated safe zones elsewhere in the Strip.

Ten Israeli soldiers, including the commander of the 401st Brigade, have been killed during the operation.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 43,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 17,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,000 gunnies inside Israel on October 7.

Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

India-Pakistan
FinMin Aurangzeb laments lack of trade with neighbours
[GEO.TV] As the incumbent government strives to bring economic stability to the country, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has expressed displeasure over the lack of trade with neighbouring countries, The News reported on Monday.
Pakistan’s nearest neighbours are Afghanistan — which is harbouring the TTP, the Pakistani Taliban — so there is a semi-war there; India, which it has been trying to conquer since before independence was declared; China, which doesn’t really need anything Pakistan has to trade, except postpubescent females; and Iran, which is Shiite, so they despise each other.
"Not trading with your neighbours does not make sense," Aurangzeb told the publication while acknowledging that any "political connotations" or "geopolitical discussions" involved were beyond his domain.

"We recently had a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference, we are very keen to join BRICS organization, that is because we want to join trade organizations or corridors and I think that's the right thing to do," remarked the finance czar as he noted that all intergovernmental organizations are essentially "regional corridors".

Separately, speaking at a press briefing at the conclusion of his week-long visit, attending the annual International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Fall meetings, the minister said that everyone that he met during his time in Washington acknowledged Pakistain's efforts to implement the reform agenda but had also been told to now "stay the course".

Aurangzeb further said that Islamabad opened up discussions with the IMF and World Bank on climate resilience financing as well but if it's "quantum is less than a billion dollars, it would not be meaningful".
“We’re broke. Give us more money [or our jihadis will burst out and attack the world again].”

and in support of the resistance in the two countries.

The armed forces front man, Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, confirmed in a televised statement on Monday evening that the three military operations were part of the continuation of imposing a naval blockade on the Israeli enemy.

He explained that the first operation targeted the ship ''SC MONTREAL'' southern Arabian Sea with two drones and the hit was accurate.

''The second operation targeted the ship (MAERSK KOWLOON) in the Arabian Sea. The operation was carried out with a cruise missile, achieving a direct hit.''

Sare'e added that the third operation was carried out by the naval forces and the missile force, targeting the ship (MOTARO) in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab with a number of ballistic missiles, and the strikes were accurate and direct.

''The three ships were targeted because the companies they belong to violated the ban on sailing to Israeli ports,'' he elaborated.

''The Yemeni Armed Forces, while saluting the victories of the Islamic Resistance® in Lebanon, confirm their continuation in imposing a naval blockade on the Israeli enemy and targeting all ships linked to it, as well as targeting the Israeli enemy with missiles and drones,'' the statement read.

The statement stressed that ''the operations will continue until the aggression is stopped, the blockade on the Gazoo

The Times of Israel adds:
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea says in a televised address that the vessels were targeted for attempting to approach ports bound for Israel.

According to the latest data from LSEG, all three targeted vessels were Liberia-registered.

One of the vessels, identified by the Houthis as Motaro, was last seen off Yemen’s western coast in the Red Sea, en route from Egypt’s Suez Canal to Shanghai, according to LSEG data.

Another vessel, the SC Montreal, was reportedly targeted in the Arabian Sea while travelling from Seychelles’ Port Victoria to Salalah, Oman.

The third vessel, the Maersk Kowloon, was tracked by LSEG in the western Indian Ocean, also en route from Salalah.
In other words, once again the Houthis demonstrate a complete lack of geographic understanding.
Earlier today, British maritime security firm Ambrey reported two explosions near a merchant vessel travelling 14 nautical miles southwest of Yemen’s Al Dhubab.

Ambrey’s report followed initial statements from the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency, which received information about three explosions related to an incident 25 nautical miles south of Yemen’s port of Mokha, but confirmed that the ship and crew were safe and had continued to their next port of call.
It sounds like the Houthis once again swung and missed.

The USS Liberty, which for some reason was sent there to collect signals intelligence, inserted itself between two belligerents in the middle of a shooting war without identifying itself instead of standing off at a safe distance, which is just plain dumb. It is tragic that American sailors died as the result of their military and civilian commanders’ refusal to exercise due diligence, but the American side owns at least half of the responsibility.

The Ministry of Health also noted that Israeli occupation forces have killed 168 paramedics and injured 275 since the onset of the aggression.

It pointed out that the Israeli air strike on a health emergency center in the town of Ain Ba'al killed seven citizens, including paramedics and a nurse, with 24 others injured in an updated count.

Fourteen citizens were martyred and 39 others injured in two Israeli airstrikes on the towns of Harat Sidon and al-Burj al-Shamali on Sunday. Five deaders fell due to an Israeli strike on the village of al-Burj al-Shamali.

Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s hit the southern Lebanese city of Tyre on Monday after the IDF called for residents in large swaths of the ancient coastal city to evacuate, while Hezbollah rockets continued to rain down across northern Israel.

The IDF said following the strikes that the Hezbollah targets in Tyre included weapons depots, buildings used by the terror group, and observation posts belonging to various of its units.

"The Hezbollah terror organization advanced terror activities against Israeli citizens and IDF troops from these compounds," the military said. It said Tyre is a major Hezbollah stronghold, especially for the terror group’s Aziz regional unit, from which it plans attacks on Israel.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported "a series of strikes" on the coastal city, beginning with a raid on a residential apartment. An AFP video journalist reported thick clouds of smoke covering parts of Tyre, including rising from a building along the seafront.

The IDF had earlier told residents in parts of central Tyre to leave immediately, warning it would attack Hezbollah targets there. In a warning published on social media, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man Col. Avichay Adraee warned residents that "Hezbollah’s activity forces the IDF to act in the area you are in," and stressed that "the IDF does not want to harm you."

He published a map of the targeted areas, and instructed residents within the relevant areas to "immediately move away from the area marked in red, and head north to the Awali River."

"Anyone who is near Hezbollah personnel, facilities and weapons of Hezbollah is putting their life in danger," Adraee added.

The union of Tyre municipalities received a phone call in Arabic, apparently from the Israeli military, urging residents to evacuate several streets in the area, a municipal source told AFP. The NNA said the union instructed the civil defense and emergency personnel to use loudspeakers to urge residents to leave, "which created a state of panic."

The strikes on Monday afternoon followed an air raid in the early hours of Monday morning in the center of the city that the Lebanese health ministry said killed seven people and maimed 17 others. The toll did not differentiate between combatants and civilians.

rockets and drones continued to target swaths of northern Israel throughout Monday with around 115 missiles fired as of mid-afternoon, after 90 rockets were launched on Sunday, according to the IDF. No injuries were reported Monday.

On Monday afternoon, five rockets were fired toward Haifa, setting off sirens across the city and several of its suburbs. The IDF said some of the rockets were intercepted while others struck open areas.

Hezbollah claimed on Monday that its button men had "ambushed... the Israeli enemy’s vehicles and soldiers as they advanced toward" the outskirts of the border village of Kfar Kila ahead of deadly festivities. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army.

The IDF said early Monday morning that its troops had continued to strike infrastructure and confiscate weapons belonging to Hezbollah in south Lebanon. The military said dozens of airstrikes hit terror cells and infrastructure, including a launcher used to fire rockets at Israel, and that dozens of Hezbollah operatives were killed in fighting over the past 24 hours.

Lebanon’s government claims that at least 1.2 million people have been displaced by Israel’s strikes and more than 2,600 have been killed over the last year — the vast majority in the last month. An AFP tally based on official figures puts the number at 1,634, but acknowledges gaps in the data. The IDF estimates that more than 2,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in the conflict.

Some 60,000 Israelis were evacuated from northern towns near the Lebanon border shortly after Hamas

The attacks on northern Israel since October 2023 have resulted in the deaths of 31 civilians. In addition, 60 IDF soldiers and reservists have been killed in cross-border skirmishes, including 34 of those killed during the ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September.

Lebanon health ministry reports at least 60 killed in Israeli strikes on Bekaa Valley
[IsraelTimes] Lebanon’s health ministry says at least 60 people were killed on Monday in Israeli raids on several areas in the eastern Bekaa Valley, most of them in the Baalbek region.

The health ministry says the tolls cover 12 areas in the Bekaa Valley where terrorist group Hezbollah holds sway. At least two children are among the dead, it says.

At least 58 others were wounded, the health ministry adds, noting that the toll is preliminary as rescue efforts are still underway.

Of the 60 killed, at least 16 deaths were recorded in Al-Alaq, west of Baalbek city, according to the health ministry.

Coalition P-8 Poseidon comes dangerously close to Russian Aerospace Forces Su-35 over Mediterranean
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A Boeing P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft of the so-called international coalition led by the United States of America came dangerously close to a Su-35 fighter jet of the Russian Aerospace Forces over the Mediterranean Sea. This was reported on Monday, October 28, by Captain First Rank Oleg Ignasyuk, Deputy Head of the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides (CRPS) in Syria.

“A dangerous approach occurred over the waters of the eastern Mediterranean Sea between a Boeing P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft of the coalition and a Su-35 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which was carrying out a scheduled flight,” he said during a briefing.

Ignasyuk noted that the collision was avoided thanks to the timely actions taken by the Russian pilot, who demonstrated high professionalism.

According to the deputy head of the Center for Strategic and Intervention Studies, the “coalition” aviation continues to fly in violation of deconfliction protocols and create dangerous conditions for aviation accidents in the skies over the Syrian Arab Republic.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 17, the Center for Strategic and Interactive Communications reported a dangerous approach of the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle of the "coalition" to the Su-35 of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the skies over the southern part of the Syrian province of Homs. The Russian fighter was making a planned flight along the southern border of the Arab Republic. The collision was avoided thanks to the actions of the Russian pilot, who took the necessary measures in a timely manner. On September 26, another incident was reported involving the MQ-9 Reaper, which came dangerously close to the Russian Su-24 fighter in the province of Idlib.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Next up is Zaporizhia and Dnepr. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing their last stronghold of defense in Donbass
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] The Russian army is building on its success in Donbass, inflicting one defeat after another on the enemy. Last week, Ukrainian troops were forced to retreat from a number of settlements that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had previously planned to use as defensive points.

The most tense section of the front remains the Pokrovsk direction, where the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is on the verge of collapse. Russian troops have gained high tempo of the offensive, having driven the enemy out of a number of settlements. In particular, the village of Tsukurino has been liberated, which was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense.

The Russian Armed Forces have launched a new stage of the offensive against the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in the towns of Selidovo and Gornyak, the last two fortified areas on the approaches to Pokrovsk. On the eve, footage taken on the streets of the city appeared online, showing Russian soldiers freely moving around the western outskirts of Selidovo.

Later, the liberation of the settlement by the Russian army was confirmed by the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin.

Russian troops also continued their offensive to the west, driving the enemy out of the settlement of Vyshneve. Footage published online shows that the city's buildings were virtually undamaged. Apparently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces decided not to engage in protracted battles and retreated without offering serious resistance.

Earlier, the Russian Armed Forces managed to cut off the E50 highway connecting Selidovo and Kurakhovo, disrupting the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. After the city was threatened with encirclement, the Ukrainian troops retreated.

The withdrawal took place within the framework of the strategy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which has been used by Ukrainian troops over the past year, a source from the combat contact line told Regnum news agency.

"As we have always noticed before, they have been given a clear order: to slow down our advance as much as possible, to interfere in every way. And if there is a threat of defeat, to retreat. But we do not storm their fortifications head-on, we cut off communications and force them to retreat. We had a major success in liberating Selidovo: we did not allow them to use their methods again," the agency's source said.

Previously, Ukrainian sources have repeatedly admitted that the defense of Selidovo is extremely poorly organized. According to reports from Kyiv, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units stationed in the city allegedly repelled several assault attempts and only then retreated. However, according to information from frontline sources, the battles took place mainly to the east and north of the city, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not even try to counterattack.

The situation is extremely difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces south of Selydove, in the area of the village of Gornyak. According to information from the field, most of the settlement has come under the control of the Russian army. Fighting continues on the southern outskirts. The loss of control over the settlement was also confirmed by the Ukrainian analytical portal DeepState.

Locals in city chats write that Russian troops have already begun checking documents in the liberated areas. It is noteworthy that here too, Ukrainian troops prefer to retreat without putting up fierce resistance.

In the same area, Russian army units liberated the settlement of Alexandropol, as a result of which Ukrainian troops lost their last positions on the right bank of the Volchya River.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the village of Kurakhovka, the last large settlement on the approaches to the city of Kurakhovo, were under threat of encirclement.

The collapse of the Ukrainian front in the southern part of the DPR is partly acknowledged by Ukrainian sources and Western experts. According to the military analyst of the German publication Bild Julian Röpke, over the past week the Russian army has advanced 2-5 kilometers daily.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command in this area tried to organize a counterattack, using reserves and armored vehicles supplied by NATO countries. Swedish-made armored BvS 10 Viking all-terrain vehicles were thrown into the battle: two of them were blown up in a minefield, after which they were finished off by drones. The counterattack failed.

KURAKHOVO SURROUNDINGS
In the area of Ugledar, Russian troops are also building on their previous successes. Over the past week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to retreat from the settlement of Katerinovka. In turn, Russian troops are moving along the Sukhie Yaly River, developing an offensive in the direction of the settlement of Uspenovka from the south and southwest simultaneously.

Ukrainian troops are gradually rolling back and are unable to organize resistance because they have lost their commanding heights, Regnum news agency sources note.

"With the liberation of Ugledar, we took a key height, which for a long time provided the enemy with control over the entire region. Now we are using the advantage in artillery. Considering that the entire region up to the Kurakhovo reservoir is a flat plain, our drones are also working actively. So reaching Kurakhovo from the south is a matter of time," the source is sure.

He also confirmed the advance of Russian forces in the area of the settlements of Katerinovka, Elizavetovka, Bogoyavlenka, Novoukrainka and Shakhtyorske.

At the same time, the liberation of Selidovo and Tsukurino allows the Kurakhovo direction to be bypassed from the north and the city to be cut off from supplies. Previously, Western media covering the situation in this area reported that Ukrainian troops do not plan to hold the city and will be forced to retreat.

KYIV PREPARES DEFENSE OF ZAPORIZHIA REGION
For the Russian army, the advance in the Kurakhovo area creates the preconditions for a final offensive on Pokrovsk, and in the future, on the territory of the Zaporizhia region and the Dnepropetrovsk region controlled by Ukraine.

Kiev understands this and is preparing for a retreat. Ukrainian troops are finishing the construction of fortifications in the Zaporizhia region, said Ivan Fedorov, head of the region's military administration. According to him, the region will become a "fortress" since the military has completed 99.9% of the second line of defense, and the third will be ready in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the Russian army continues to increase pressure on this section of the front. According to the assessment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group "Tavria", Russian troops were able to penetrate the Ukrainian defense between the villages of Olgovskoye and Novodarovka.

Ukrainian sources suggest that heavy fighting will begin in this direction in the near future. At the same time, dissatisfaction with the tactics of the Ukrainian command, which is surrendering settlements one after another, is growing among the Ukrainian military.

After the imminent loss of Pokrovsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces should prepare to organize defense in the Dnipropetrovsk region, said Deputy Commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Maksym Zhorin.

“All of this needs to be planned and a strong line of defense needs to be built in advance, rather than waiting until the front line moves back to the next populated area,” Zhorin said.

According to the latest data, the distance from the village of Vishnevoe in the DPR, which came under the control of the Russian army, to the borders of the Dnepropetrovsk region is 29 kilometers. And from the front line in the Gulyaipole area to the borders of the region - only 11.

The resignation with which Ukrainian sources plan to defend Zaporizhia and Dnepropetrovsk suggests that the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not plan to hold the eastern regions of Donbas. But the decisive battles for this region are expected to unfold on the streets of Pokrovsk and adjacent settlements - the enemy's last stronghold in the region.

'The Cockroaches Scattered.' How Ukraine Got the '1991 Borders'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Denis Davydov

[REGNUM] The Day of Ukraine's Liberation from the Fascist Invaders was officially celebrated only in 2009, when President Viktor Yushchenko signed the corresponding decree. There was a campaign of general reconciliation, and the authorities called for both the Red Army soldiers and the UPA* veterans to be recognized as heroes, hanging posters in the streets with grandfathers in medals shaking hands.

Therefore, the new holiday, previously celebrated only once with a parade in Kiev on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the event, was marked with the following words of the presidential document: “ For the purpose of a nationwide celebration of the liberation of Ukraine from the fascist invaders, honoring the heroic feat and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in World War II.”

On the occasion of the first celebration, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the neighbors, expressing confidence that if the memory of common glorious victories is preserved, then the peoples of Russia and Ukraine, “having overcome all temporary obstacles and difficulties, will, like good neighbors, work hand in hand for the benefit of progress and prosperity of our states.”

However, this did not happen, because, firstly, Yushchenko took a course not on reconciliation, but on equalizing the status of the Red Army soldiers and Banderites, and, secondly, the opposing sides did not want any reconciliation. The then still existing communists accused the president of hypocrisy, since in the same year he posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to the UPA* commander Roman Shukhevych, and in 2007 supported the initiative to create a "Museum of Soviet Occupation".

On the other hand, ideological nationalists categorically refused to celebrate the Day of Liberation of Ukraine, who at that time carefully avoided admitting the fact of close cooperation between the OUN* and Nazi Germany since the 1930s. “On October 28, Ukraine was truly liberated from the fascists, but after that, the Bolsheviks finally enslaved Ukraine. What is there to celebrate? ” Roman Shukhevych’s son Yuri was indignant at the time. “Before October 28, the OUN-UPA fought against two occupiers – the fascists and the Bolsheviks, and after that date, against one – the Soviet government. There can be no talk of any reconciliation!”

So the format of the celebration never came together, and the memorable date simply remained on the calendar. Although for Ukraine it is one of the most significant, since at the end of October 1944, Soviet troops were on the territory of Czechoslovakia, which was reported directly and honestly by the main printed organ of the army, the newspaper "Red Star". The main news, placed in the header, thundered:

“As a result of a rapid offensive, the troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front captured the main city of Transcarpathian Ukraine, Uzhgorod, on the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic – a major communications hub and an important stronghold for the enemy’s defense.”

Moscow saluted them with twenty salvos from 224 guns. But on October 11, it was visited by a Hungarian delegation consisting of representatives of Regent Miklos Horthy and the Hungarian government, Colonel General Farago Gabor, Minister Plenipotentiary Szent-Ivan Domokos and Professor Count Geza Teleki. They signed preliminary conditions for an armistice, according to which Hungary must evacuate all its troops and officials "from the occupied territories of Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania to the borders of Hungary that existed on December 31, 1937."

In addition, Hungary was obliged to break with Germany and declare war on it, which, of course, the Germans did not allow, having seized control into their own hands: the Budapest operation began on October 29. However, in Subcarpathian Rus, as this territory was correctly called, other processes were underway. There, the autonomy of "Transcarpathian Ukraine" was proclaimed (not without the participation of the Soviet military administration).

A month later, its People's Assembly adopted a manifesto on unification with the Ukrainian SSR, and in June 1945, everything was formalized by an agreement with the Czechs, which contained piercing words about merging "with its original homeland - Ukraine." And the territory of Ukraine itself at that time was within the borders of 1940, when after the Polish campaign of the Red Army, the territory to the west was limited to the Lviv, Drohobych, Ternopil, Stanislav, Volyn and Rivne regions, and to the southwest by Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina.

And it was liberated back in August 1944, when it would have been logical to establish a holiday date. Its borders are clearly visible on the famous poster "Ukraine is free!"

As for Transcarpathia, it was historically a territory of the Hungarian Kingdom, populated by Rusyns. After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, the Hungarian government granted the mountainous part of the territory of four counties (districts) with a Rusyn population - Uzhgorod, Berehove, Vynohradiv and today's Romanian Sighetu Marmatiei - an autonomous status under the general name "Ruska Krajina".

When Transcarpathia became part of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1919 (also as an autonomous region), the region was called "Subcarpathian Rus". At the same time, the current coat of arms of Transcarpathia was created - on the right, a red bear on a silver field, on the left - alternating blue and gold stripes. And in 1938-1939, Hungary returned what it considered rightfully its own.

Therefore, the "liberation" happened as an intermediate result, since the decision to conduct the Carpathian-Uzhgorod offensive operation was quickly made due to the need to urgently help the Slovak national uprising. From September 9 to October 28, 1944, the troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front and the left wing of the 1st Ukrainian Front were to overcome the Eastern Carpathians and seize the Mukachevo-Uzhgorod-Chop region.

The Soviet troops were opposed by part of the 1st German Panzer Army and the 1st Hungarian Army, united in the Army Group "Heinrici". Front commander General Ivan Petrov managed to break through to the Tisza River valley and quickly advance to the east, taking Chop, now the westernmost city in Ukraine, by October 29. Moreover, they flew into the capital of Transcarpathia so quickly that the enemy did not have time to take out loaded trains, and even the personnel of the German military commandant's office remained in the city, offering resistance.

"On that side, ours were coming from Mukachevo, and this 5th tank brigade went along their rear, reached Uzhgorod and closed the ring. We entered the city, and we look, and there are loaded trains standing under steam. The first locomotive had just started moving, when our lead tank gave it a shot, steam started coming out of it and the Germans scattered like cockroaches. That is, we were the first to break into Uzhgorod, and from the rear, from where the Germans were not expecting us at all," recalled the events of the signalman Mikhail Novikov.

But the advance of the Soviet troops stopped there due to the extremely difficult conditions of military operations in the mountains and the defeat of the Slovak national uprising.

So instead of the main goal, a secondary one was achieved. Although in a global sense, the gathering of the lands of Rus was completed at the end of October 1944, and it is this event that should constitute the main meaning of the memorable date. But the fact that Ukraine received the notorious "borders of 1991" is also important, since this would not have happened without the will of the Soviet state and the efforts of the Red Army.

In the end, the Transcarpathian Rusyns also turned into Ukrainians solely due to this.

Government Corruption
Coast Guard suspends two top leaders at its base in San Diego
[UTSD] WTF is going on?
The agency did not specify why Capt. James Spitler and Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Dioquino were relieved of duty

With little explanation, the Coast Guard has suspended two of the highest-ranking officers at its base in San Diego, which is among the agency’s largest operations on the West Coast.

Capt. James Spitler and Master Chief Petty Officer Michael Dioquino were temporarily relieved of duty, Rear Adm. Joseph Buzzella said in a statement.

"The Coast Guard cannot accomplish our missions without the respect and trust of each member," Buzzella said. "A safe and professional environment for each member is crucial to the success of our service and we will not tolerate behavior that goes against our core values of honor, respect and devotion to duty."

The announcement was made Friday.

Spitler has been serving as commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector San Diego, and Dioquino has been the command’s senior enlisted officer.

The Coast Guard would typically relieve someone of duty if they were the subject of an investigation.

Sector San Diego is responsible for patrolling 120 miles of coastline and 750 miles of the Colorado River, as well as the U.S.-Mexico southwest maritime border, the agency says.

Each year, the agency says the sector saves about 150 lives, participates in roughly 250 search and rescue cases, apprehends about 1,200 people crossing the border illegally and performs safety inspections on more than 600 domestic vehicles.
Military.com adds:
The Coast Guard temporarily relieved the commander and top senior enlisted leader at Coast Guard Sector San Diego as it investigates allegations of a toxic work environment in the unit.

Lt. SondraKay Kneen, the district's public affairs officer, said Monday the service had received reports of unfair treatment by Spitler from personnel at the unit and of "actions against staff" that were "unfair and inappropriate" and "interfered with work performance or created an unwelcome work environment."

Dioquino is not being investigated, but he was relieved due to loss of confidence in his ability to fulfill his responsibilities as the command's senior enlisted leader, she said.

The reliefs are the fifth and sixth of high-profile Coast Guard leaders since April. In June, Cmdr. David Ruhlig, Coast Guard Station New York's commanding officer, was relieved for "loss of confidence" after leading the unit for three years.

In April, Navy Capt. Daniel Mode, chaplain of the Coast Guard, was relieved for failing to take action when he became aware of sexual misconduct by another chaplain that had taken place before the other chaplain joined the Navy and served in the Coast Guard.

In May, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Timothy Beard was relieved for inappropriate conduct.

And in late May, Navy Cmdr. Cristiano DeSousa, a Presbyterian chaplain, was relieved as chaplain of the 7th District for what a Coast Guard official described as "poor judgment and performance constituting a breach of trust with the workforce."
