Author of 'Breaking the Blue' Sean 'Sticks' Larkin joins 'Watters' World' to discuss the war on cops.
Retired Tulsa police Sgt. Sean Larkin voiced his concern over a more hostile anti-police environment Saturday on "Watters’ World," noting the fears law enforcement officials in America experience amid a rise in crime and a push to make police the "bad guys."
"When I first started this job, I was told from the very beginning you are not going to be fearful of getting hurt at work, you are not going to be fearful of getting killed in the line of duty," Larkin said. "Is it a real threat? Of course. But you can’t work day-to-day thinking like that."
Larkin noted that the fears law enforcement have are no longer being hurt or killed in the line of duty, but rather being "smeared" for doing their job.
"What we are worried about, especially now, is having your name smeared through social media if there is something you didn’t do wrong," he noted. "It’s for being civilly sued for something you didn’t do wrong, for having your department investigate you cause of a bogus allegation that came and you are put on basically time-out on the department. Those are the things that we are worried about."
Following the death of George Floyd in May of 2020 and the push to cut funding for law enforcement, many major American cities have seen an uptick in violent crime, for which some Americans blame Democrat leadership.
Police retirements have also jumped during a year of protests as major U.S. cities such as New York, Minneapolis and Portland chose to cut their police budgets.
"When I first came on in 1997, when we testified in court, we weren’t the bad guys, now every time we take the stand, defense attorneys are coming after us. It’s no longer about the truth. It’s how can we make this cop look bad on the stand and get my client off" said Larkin.

Current daily infections are well below 10k and fatalities per day are fewer than 10.
About 60% of population is fully vaccinated (another 15% or so have had one dose) and probably another 10% are immune from having had a non symptom or minimal symptom infection.
Remember the Neil Ferguson (Imperial College of London) estimate that the UK would have 2M fatalities (official total covid deaths to date are about 130k). This guy is still employed by the College and probably still getting awards.

Chris, that's a fine question.
I think part of the answer is that our ruling elite is too stupid to imagine a solution other than what they've always done. You can see that here: The Democrat solution to any problem in 1965 was to tax more and spend more. The Democrat solution to any problem in 2021 is the same.
Another part of the answer is that the people making the decisions don't have skin in the game. In the UK a shutdown crushes small businesses, but the government officials who imposed the shutdown never miss a paycheck. So, instead of another UK lockdown, how about Parliament passes a law that no senior member of Her Majesty's Government gets paid a farthing until they solve the bloody problem? I bet you'd see some innovative solutions pretty quickly.

After the shooting it came out that Omar Mateen had been an habitué of the Pulse as well as other gay clubs for at least a decade, Lord Garth. He’d had several liaisons therein addition to having a wife and son at home, as I recall, which fits his Afghan heritage. But he had also boasted of having jihadi connections for nearly as long as his FBI-informant father had had a radio show praising the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
Given that he scouted potential killing sites that included Disney World, I agree it seems likely he chose the Pulse because he he knew it well and could easily bring in weapons, rather than objecting to the proclivities of the clientele.

[FOXNEWS] If you listened solely to Democratic talking points, including the so-called mainstream media, you would be convinced that America is a systemically racist nation and that Republicans are somehow hell bent on disenfranchising large swaths of voters. Both of these notions are patently false.
In fact, thanks to sustained long-term efforts, in 2021 it is easier to register and vote now than at any point in American history — no matter what color your skin is. This is a measure of progress of which we should all be proud.When the Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965, voter registration and voter turnout by minorities — specifically Black Americans — were the measure of whether voter suppression was taking place in a state. A moment’s consideration would lead an ordinary American to conclude those are sensible metrics to gauge minority voter suppression.
But, in spite of these facts, Democrats in Congress have manufactured a myth of widespread voter suppression in order to impose a federal takeover of elections.
The instrument of their proposed federal control over election law was introduced (and never passed) in the last Congress as H.R. 4, the "John Lewis Voting Rights bill." The biggest, but not the only, major change is that H.R. 4 would reinstitute the practice of requiring federal preclearance (i.e., federal permission) for any state election change, no matter how minor.
Preclearance was previously struck down as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court ...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations... in the Shelby County v. Holder case in 2013. Thus, H.R. 4 is an attempt by the Democrats to go around the court and once again subject state election reforms to a federal veto — no matter how trivial any proposed change might be.
Under H.R. 4, the federal government could veto and block any, and potentially all, state election reforms (plus redistricting) under the guise of fighting discrimination. However, a woman is only as old as she admits... there is no requirement to actually prove that anything a state was proposing would be discriminatory. If a state sought to fight the federal government’s decision, rather than requiring the federal government to prove that a new law would result in discrimination, the burden of proof would fall on the states.

[ToloNews] Tolak district in the central province of Ghor has fallen to the Taliban ...Arabic for students... following heavy festivities against security forces on Friday night, two sources from the province said on Saturday.
Salman Yusufi, the district governor for Tolak, said that at least 20 security force members were killed and 20 more were maimed in the festivities in the district.
He said that at least 10 security force members have been captured by the Taliban.
Yusufi did not confirm the fall of the district to the Taliban but criticized the lack of attention by relevant officials to supply equipment to the forces on the ground.
Local officials have not commented on the report.
This comes as the Defense Ministry said that civilian and military institutions in Zare district in the northern province of Balkh were shifted to another place on Saturday due to limited access to the district for supplying equipment to security forces.
Taliban has claimed to have captured the Zare district on Saturday morning.
In addition to the mentioned districts, so far, sources and officials have confirmed that the centers of at least 17 districts have fallen to Lions of Islam over the last two months. According to two MPs, the centers of Ishkamish district in Takhar and Sozma Qala district in Sar-e-Pul ...a city and eponymous province in northern Afghanistan, population about 500,000. Demographically it is majority Tadjik and Uzbek. There are small Pashtun, Arab, and Hazara communities, of which the Hazaras mostly don't bother anyone... fell to the Taliban on Thursday.

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Three city councilors in Worcester, Massachusetts, were requested by the family of fallen police officer Emmanuel "Manny" Familia not to attend the dear departed's funeral service, according to MassLive.
38-year-old Familia died last week after attempting to save a 14-year-old teen from the water at Green Hill Park. The teen also drowned.
Councilors Sean Rose, Khrystian King, and Sarai Rivera received calls from Worchester's city manager Edward Agustus Jr. who relayed the family's requests.
"We have a true hero and a tragedy and a very well-liked Latin man in our community," Rose said. "This is the family's wish. I didn't really get into details why with a grieving family." On Facebook, Rose stated that "I pray the family of Officer Familia, the family of Troy Love and the Worcester Police Department find comfort and peace during this difficult time."
While Rivera did not comment on the incident directly, a news hound for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette tweeted that Rivera confirmed that the family requested she not attend.
On Facebook, King wrote that he met Familia at around 14-years-old while playing in a summer basketball league: "Manny Familia lost his life in the midst of an act of valor while trying to save another. We should only be considering the ultimate sacrifice that Manny and his loved ones have made while honoring and planning for his continual legacy." King wrote that out of the "utmost respect for Manny, his family, his friends, his loved ones, the officers that co-responded and entered the water with him, his Law Enforcement colleagues, Worcester's Dominican and Latino Community, Worcester's Basketball community, and the entire City of Worcester," he declines any further comment. "I continue to have the utmost respect and love for Manny. May he rest in peace," King added.
Many have speculated that requests for those city councilors not to attend stemmed from their alleged anti-police stances.
Both King and Rivera signed a petition last year to discuss the reallocation of a portion of the police department's funding. According to MassLive, councilor-at-large Gary Rosen signed that same petition, but was in attendance at the funeral.
Other attendees, like Congressman Jim McGovern, have urged for reduced funding or police reform as well. McGovern urged in the wake of George Floyd's death for the passing of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Worcester Police Sargent and president of the IBO Local 504 police union Rick Cipro told MassLive that he was not aware of the family's request, but in his eyes as the head of the union, those three councilors have gone after police in the last year.

[NYPOST] A gunman opened fire early Saturday in a "pre-pandemic" sized crowd in the entertainment district in downtown Austin, Texas, wounding at least 13 people before slipping away from the scene undetected.There were no fatalities, but at least two victims were fighting for their lives, police said.
It was unclear what sparked the shooting. The shooter, believed to be a Black man with dreadlocks, appears to have fired randomly into the crowd at the 400 block of East Sixth Street, a popular entertainment district lined with bars and restaurants. The shots sent thousands scrambling for their lives. He manage to leave amid the confusion.
Police quickly began combing through video shot by bystanders and security cameras in the area, searching for more details about the shooter, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
One suspect is in jug and a second remains on the lam after a mass shooting that left 14 people injured in Austin's downtown entertainment district early Saturday.
After the gunfire was reported at 1:24 a.m. local time, "a large crowd" dispersed, police said.
The shooting appeared to be an isolated incident between two parties, Chacon said at a news conference, adding that most victims were "innocent bystanders.”

Fonte is the third high-profile Dalton staffer to leave the school this year as the school struggles with a simmering conflict between the faculty and parents over its progressive agenda. Domonic Rollins, the school’s director of DEI, ("Diversity, Equity and Inclusion") left in February to "pursue other opportunities," the school said at the time.
Best, Dalton’s headmaster for 16 years, announced in April he was resigning to pursue "other exciting and inspiring opportunities."

[SHAFAQ] At least 16 people, including 11 civilians, were killed, on Saturday, in artillery shelling on the Kurdish-held city of Afrin, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
A doctor, three hospital employees, three women and a child, are among the dead.
According to the Observatory, the shelling on al-Shifaa Hospital was carried out from the north of Aleppo governorate, where the Syrian regime forces and Kurdish fighters are deployed.

Many others were not so naive. The first air raid sirens went off in Cairo at approximately 9:10AM. It could be said that by then the war was over. People in Cairo knew that the military airports at Cairo, Helwan, Alexandria, Mersa Matruh had already been bombed and by day's close it was obvious that the Egyptian air force had been destroyed on the ground. In essence, and in fact, the war was over.

There's an awful lot of history at this base, a proud history for the British people – the bravery and heroism of the Royal Air Force pilots fighting to defend their nation.
I'm sure everyone here knows the history, but just six hours after Britain and France declared war on Germany in 1939, three Wellington bombers took off from Mildenhall and bombed Nazi battleships.
And over the course of World War Two, out of this base, RAF bombers dropped nearly 28,000 tons of bombs on Nazi Germany, flying more than 8,000 sorties. This base has been a significant source of British air power. A proud, proud history of a proud nation. I skipped down thru a long speech, but it seems pretty solid, if folksy. A lot of facts and figures, not from memory, for sure! I wonder if he was still on D.C. time? I wonder what it was like, live.
That would have been the written text of the speech that he planned to give, not what he actually said. A very quick search did not reveal any videos of the thing, including on the White House website, which makes me wonder.

Work to remove the remains of the infamous Confederate general, slave trader, and early leader of the Ku Klux Klan began June 1 and was expected to take two to three weeks.
Workers discovered the remains on Monday, around 9:01 a.m., but no announcement was made until Friday, in order to allow time to confirm that the area had been properly searched for all artifacts, Taylor said. Taylor and Turner pointed out that the removal of the statue also took place at the timestamp for Memphis' area code, but in the evening, at 9:01 p.m. in December 2017.

The White House stated that Biden would work with Congress to increase overseas infrastructure financing and coordinate funding from other G7 nations and the private sector to help fund infrastructure for low- and middle-income countries.

One official noted that the G7 nations will also discuss the problems with China’s practice of forced labor in Xinjiang.

[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iran's ex-parliament speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday demanded an explanation of why he was barred from running in next week's presidential poll but was promptly rebuffed by the election watchdog.
The moderate conservative was disqualified by the powerful Guardian Council in a surprise move that leaves judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi, an ultraconservative, the clear favorite in the June 18 election.
Larijani called on Twitter on the Guardian Council to "officially and publicly disclose all the reasons" for his disqualification as reports on him and his family had been "proven to be false".
The council's front man in response said the law does not mandate the body to explain its reasoning in public.
The vetting process is carried out using "adequate and trustable documents", Abbas Ali Kadkhodaee said in a tweet reported by local agencies.
"The presidential election law has not specified anything regarding protesting disqualifications and public disclosure of their reasons," he said.
The conservative-dominated, unelected council has approved seven candidates, five of them ultraconservatives, to run in the election from a field of about 600 hopefuls.

[Epoch Times] An election assessment conducted in a Pennsylvania county months ago and quietly released to the public in recent weeks uncovered five errors, including three linked to Dominion Voting Systems, whose election management system is used in the county, the assessing firm said. Fulton County - As of the 2010 census, the population was 14,845, making it the fourth-least populous county in Pennsylvania
Fulton County, PA, which seems to have some of the same election management problem as Fulton County, GA.
Wake TSI said in its report summary that it found that the election "was well run, was conducted in a diligent and effective manner and followed the directions of Pennsylvania." No anomalies were reported during the election process and expectations were that the assessment would not show any indications of fraud, error, interference, or misconduct. That would be at the small-county level.
However, Wake TSI said it found five "issues of note," including that Dominion failed to meet the commonwealth’s certification standards; that the election management system had Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools installed, despite the software not being part of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s certified configuration; and that changes were made to the management system just three weeks prior to the election. The 'management system', I suppose, linked the well-run County results to the State level system.
Assessors said there is "no valid reason" for the software to be installed on the system and that the presence "allows any user with access to change and manipulate the EMS databases without logging [recording] to the Database, EMS, or [operating system] logfiles." Making it remarkably easy to cheat. But Dominion didn't, of course.
They also said that Dominion failed to fill out a document that attests that the installed software versions conformed with certified reasons, with Dominion apparently claiming filling out the form was "optional." Certifications are generally not "optional", except for cheaters.
Dominion Voting Systems disputed the report’s findings related to it. Sure, and they didn't help Hugo Chavez, either.
