-Short Attention Span Theater-
Team USA (Basketball) Loses Another Exhibition Game
Gonna go out on a limb - we won't medal in Tokyo.
[ESPN] - Team USA might indeed win its fourth consecutive Olympic gold next month in Tokyo.

But if the Americans do, it will be a story of overcoming adversity.

They lost their second consecutive exhibition Monday, this time bested by Australia 91-83 in Las Vegas. Dating to the 2019 World Cup, where they finished seventh, Team USA has lost four of its past five games. It also has lost two in a row now to Australia, a team expected to contend for the gold in Japan.

It was a better showing than the loss to Nigeria on Saturday, but just reading those words is a little mind-boggling considering the pedigree of this roster and coaching staff. Their chemistry and execution, particularly in late-game situations, is holding the Americans back in their early stages of defending their title.

"I thought we got better tonight," said Team USA coach Gregg Popovich, continuing his stance of emphasizing process over results. "After a short time together, there's a lot of things that have to be covered."

Are the Good Times Over for Biden?
[TownHall] - Are the Democrats headed for their Little Bighorn, with President Joe Biden as Col. Custer? The wish, you suggest, is father to the thought. Yet, consider.

On taking office, Biden held a winning hand.

Three vaccines, with excellent efficacy rates, had been created and were being administered at a rate of a million shots a day. The pandemic was at its peak but looking certain to turn down, and it did.

This welcome news lifted national spirits, and the economy with it.

And the new president was taking office in a brief era of good feelings produced by the departure of the party and president who had given us the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Thus did Biden begin his administration with his approval at a level his predecessor never reached in any year of his presidency.

Happy days were here again.

But now the storm clouds are gathering and rumbling.

By last week, Biden's disapproval rating had risen into the 40s, and half the country believed America was "on the wrong track."

Yet it is not what has happened but what impends that appears ominous for Biden's and his party's prospects.

With not quite 70% of U.S. adults having received a vaccination, a new and more contagious delta variant of the disease is spreading worldwide, and an uptick in new U.S. infections has been reported.

In the economy, with markets at an all-time high, an old demon has reappeared. Writes today's Wall Street Journal:
"Americans should brace themselves for several years of higher inflation than they've seen in decades, according to economists who expect the robust post-pandemic economic recovery to fuel brisk price increases ... If the economists prove correct, Federal Reserve officials might have to raise (interest) rates sooner or more than they expect to keep inflation under control."

Inflation and rising interest rates to combat it is usually a near-fatal cocktail for a party in control of the White House and Congress in the year they face the electorate.

In addition to warning lights flashing in the economy, Biden has presided over a sudden crisis along the southern border, where 170,000 illegal migrants are being apprehended every month.

"Getaways" — border-crossers who sneak in and evade contact with the Border Patrol — now number 30,000 a month.

Who these people are and whence they came, we know not.

Former President Donald Trump's policies secured the border, and this new invasion is traceable to Biden's trashing of Trump's policy.

Indeed, Biden's designation of Vice President Kamala Harris as point person on the border crisis, and her reflexive recoil from the duties of that assignment, testify that this latest invasion could be a killer issue for Democrats in 2022.

Afghanistan
Taliban warn Turkey against extending troop presence in Afghanistan amid US pullout
[France24] The Taliban on Tuesday warned Turkey against extending its troop presence in Afghanistan when US-led forces leave the country, insisting the decision was "reprehensible".

"The decision... is ill-advised, a violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity and against our national interests," the group said in a statement, days after Ankara agreed with Washington to provide security for Kabul airport when foreign forces leave next month.

"We consider stay of foreign forces in our homeland by any country under whatever pretext as occupation," the Taliban said.

As foreign forces wind up their withdrawal -- due to be completed by August 31 -- the situation on the ground is changing rapidly.

The insurgents have swept through much of northern Afghanistan in recent weeks, and the government now holds little more than a constellation of provincial capitals that must largely be reinforced and resupplied by air.

On Tuesday, the head of a Taliban commission that oversees government forces who surrender to the insurgents urged the residents of cities to reach out to them.

"Now that the fighting from mountains and deserts has reached the doors of the cities, Mujahiddin don’t want fighting inside the city," Amir Khan Muttaqi said in a message tweeted by a Taliban spokesman, using another term for the group.

"It is better... to use any possible channel to get in touch with our invitation and guidance commission," he said, adding this would "prevent their cities from getting damaged".

The strategy is one well-worn by the Taliban, particularly during their first rise to power in the 1990s, cutting off towns and district centres and getting elders to negotiate a surrender.

Haiti is 'tinderbox' foreign policy challenge for Biden
[The Hill] The Biden administration is confronting a new and complicated foreign policy crisis as political turmoil grips Haiti following the assassination of its president.

The assassination remains shrouded in mystery, and it’s unclear who carried out or financed the killing.

Regional experts are raising alarm that the president’s murder, while extraordinary, is only one part of Haiti’s ongoing hardships that threaten a broader humanitarian crisis and possible flood of refugees into neighboring countries, including the United States.

Haiti is also contending with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Atlantic hurricane season and a plague of gang violence, all of which have been made worse by the country’s dysfunctional political system.

"It is a tinderbox really ready to explode," said Jenna Ben-Yehuda, president and CEO of the Truman National Security Project.

Haitian authorities announced the arrest late Sunday night of Florida-based Haitian doctor Christian Emmanuel Sanon, 63, who they have determined is a chief suspect.
Haiti's Gulen?
More than a dozen Colombian nationals with military experience and two Haitian Americans were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting attack on Haitian President Jovenel Moïse that occurred in his home outside Port-au-Prince in the early hours of July 7.

The Haitian government has requested U.S. military support to secure the country’s critical infrastructure as well as security assistance from the United Nations (U.N.). A U.S. delegation comprised of officials from various departments met with Haitian authorities and the country’s political leaders on Sunday to assess how the United States can assist.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Monday that the request for U.S. troops is still under review by the Biden administration and has not yet been ruled out.

"This is just the beginning of our conversations," Psaki said. "We will remain in close touch with law enforcement, with individuals in Haiti, with a range of leaders in Haiti about how we can assist and provide assistance moving forward."

The White House has also urged the political leaders in Haiti to work together to find a path forward for a united leadership at a time when two prime ministers are claiming power.

IOC's Bach slips up and refers to Japanese as 'Chinese'
[10 News] Oops
IOC President Thomas Bach has appeared in public for the first time since arriving in Tokyo last week and with the pandemic-postponed Olympics opening in just 10 days.

His first stop was the headquarters of the organizing committee to deliver a pep talk with the beleaguered games set to go ahead without fans in almost all venues.

Bach slipped up in his presentation and referred to his Japanese hosts as "Chinese."

He quickly corrected himself.

Bach's visit coincided with the official opening of the Olympic Village on Tokyo Bay.

Bach is scheduled to visit the Japanese city of Hiroshima on Friday in an effort to tie the Olympics to the city's effort to promote world peace.

#4  Meanwhile, Colombia’s national police chief, Gen. Jorge Luis Vargas, said that a Florida-based enterprise, CTU Security, used its company credit card to buy 19 plane tickets from Bogota to Santo Domingo for Colombian suspects. Most arrived in the Dominican Republic in June and moved into Haiti within weeks, Vargas said.

Thank you Gen. Vargas for staying on top of this. How soon do we discover that the DOM REP Servicio de Inteligencia Militar (SIM) and/or the Cuban Dirección General de Inteligencia (DGI) also provided repeated indications and warnings ?

Very slick websites, but did you notice the lack of corporate officers and bio's? Past corporate performance ?

This extraordinary event could turn into a shi* sammich for the fledgling Biden administration.

Afghanistan
MPs: Govt Policy on Public Forces 'Suddenly Changed'
[ToloNews] Lawmakers and members of political parties said that the government’s policy toward public uprising forces has suddenly changed as it does not want to provide financial and military support to those who have taken up arms against the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
The public forces were formed in various provinces, mostly in the north, after the fall of territory to the Taliban. The public forces said the government should provide them with military equipment and financial support.

"The people of Afghanistan have fought for 40 years and have weapons, too. Now, they have picked up guns to protect their dignity and life. They have even purchased weapons," said former mujahedeen commander Mohammad Ismail Khan.
...one of the Northern Alliance/Jamiat-e Islami warlords, the Herat Tajik was an Afghan National Army captain under the Communists, mujahideen commander against the Soviets, twice governor of Herat province — first for the mujahideen, then after the Taliban were defeated — and finally Hamid Karzai’s Minister of Energy and Water. He no doubt expected that at 75 he would be sitting back and enjoying less active maneuvers as an elder statesman...
"There is morale in the districts where there are a large number of public forces, but they lack military equipment," said Fatima Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
i, an MP from Ghor.

Two analysts said that the government has stopped support for public uprising forces even as the Taliban threat remains.

"The government called the loss of districts a tactical retreat, but these districts were handed over one after another to keep the public uprising forces at a level that cannot fight the Talibs," said Rahmatullah Bezhanpoor, a university lecturer.

"The government has lost useful opportunities for peace and I think that it has not sent equipment and weapons to them," an MP from Badakhshan
...Badakhshan plays host to the Al Qaeda-linked colony of Uighur jihadis who call themselves the Turkistan Islamic Party. TIP is listed under Tehrik-e-Taliban in the Al Qaeda organization table...
Waqif Hakimi said.

However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
the government has made statements about its support for the public uprising forces without giving details.

"The public uprising forces have been provided the required support. Don’t ask for information from me. Some issues are not appropriate to talk about," said senior presidential adviser Waheed Omer at a press briefing on Monday.

"The National Security Council, Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as the NDS, are working together to organize the forces, do the biometric registration and address all problems in this respect," said the head of the government’s media and information center Dawa Khan Minapal.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria from July 5 to 11, 2021
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin outlines the attacks on US forces in Syria.

[ColonelCassad] A large-scale approach can be noted - the attacks took place throughout the region and affected both the American bases in Syria and Iraq, and the American embassy in Baghdad, as well as American logistics convoys.

Iranian proxies make it clear to the United States quite straightforwardly that strikes in Iraq and Syria will have a price and that American facilities in the region have been transferred to the status of a legitimate military target, the strikes against which have entered the regime of routinization.

The United States is still pondering - either to strike again and wait for responses, or to pretend that the episode is played out and since there are no direct losses in people, then nothing significant happens while negotiations on a nuclear deal are underway.
That’s because President Joe Biden is at best a venal fool.
The pro-Iranian Shiite group Asahb al-Kahf claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on American convoys with roadside bombs yesterday, boasting an increase in the number of these attacks and threatening to continue attacks until American invaders are removed from Iraq, as required by current Iraqi law.

Earlier it was noted that the attacks are carried out by groups created in 2020-2021, so as not to expose the most valuable groups like Kataib Hezbollah, Harakat al-Nudjba and Asaib Ahl al-Haq, which continue the legal activity, while combat groups are withdrawn into a separate state of new groups and are waging a semi-guerrilla war against the United States.

At the same time, when the United States tries to use the PTT apparatus and other security structures of Iraq, including arresting members of Shiite groups for shelling the US Embassy and the Green Zone in Baghdad, legal groups provide forceful pressure on the government and threaten with mass protests or even forceful actions. are forcing the government to make concessions and release the detainees.

Adds TASS:
Militant attacks on the facilities of the US-led coalition in eastern Syria are becoming more and more frequent, Vadim Kulit, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria, said on Monday.

"The coalition’s facilities on the eastern bank of the Euphrates came under shelling four times last week alone," he said, adding that increased activities of radical groups is observed on Syria’s territories controlled by the US-led coalition

"On July 11, militant shelled coalition facilities near oil and gas fields in Conoco and Al-Omar with the use of improvised multiple missile launcher systems," he said.

The US Department of Defense said on Saturday that the US military had come under fire in eastern Syria. According to a Pentagon spokesman, "there was an indirect fire attack in Conoco." It was reported on Wednesday that the Ain al-Asad air base in western Iraq, which is used by the US-led anti-terrorist coalition, had come under missile fire. Apart from that, Erbil’s international airport in Iraqi Kurdistan was attacked by a drone bomb on Tuesday.

Afghanistan
Interview with Taliban’s Zabihullah Mujahid: Full Transcript
[ToloNews] In this interview, Mujahid discusses the grinding of the peace processor, conflicts and other current topics.

The Afghan peace talks have been faced with a deadlock over the last few months. Violence has remained high in the country in the last two months following the start of the withdrawal of US and coalition forces from Afghanistan. In this interview, TOLOnews' Yaser Abrar speaks to Zabihullah Mujahid, a front man for the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
, about a wide range of issues from ongoing conflicts, to the grinding of the peace processor and other current topics.

FULL TRANSCRIPT:

TOLOnews: At least 129 districts have fallen to the Taliban in the last two months and of these 15 have been retaken by the government in recent days. The Taliban call it a victory, but the US said it calls into question the Taliban’s sincerity about wanting peace.

What does the Taliban want? Do they want a political agreement, a surrender, or power through force? What is the ongoing war for and what justification does it have? Is there any hope for peace?

All will be discussed in this interview with Mr. Zabihullah Mujahid, front man for the Taliban.

Mr. Mujahid, hello and welcome to the program.

Mujahid: Hello to you and to your listeners and readers and watchers. Thank you for the opportunity.

TOLOnews: You captured the centers of 114 districts in two months. The Pentagon says that it questions your sincerity in the grinding of the peace processor. What is your response?

Mujahid: In the name of Allah... I should say that 125 districts have been captured in two months and are under our control. This progress has not been by force or through war. You are aware that most of them were through the leaving of Kabul administration soldiers’ who moved to quit fighting and join us and we came closer to each other. We can say that in one or one-and-a-half months we had the least casualties, same was for the Kabul administration soldiers because there wasn’t a need for war and all areas were captured automatically and they joined us. This does not mean that it will call into question our will because you are aware that it is 16 months that we had reduced our operations for political matters and we had reduced our operations to 25%, which means that they were reduced by 75%. But despite that, the peace and negotiations process was moving forward slowly and it is slow right now, too; therefore, we could not sit with the other side.

Iraq
ISIS regroups in the heart of Iraq: British Guardian
[NPASYRIA] On Monday, the Guardian newspaper described the movements of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in Iraq as the most escalating and organized since the battle of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, as its sleeper cells attack Iraqi military and security checkpoints, assassinate local leaders, and attack electricity transmission grids and oil installations.

This came in an article published by The Guardian, which shed light on the Iraqi army’s operations to confront ISIS, which has escalated its attacks and move in a number of Iraqi cities since its defeat in Mosul in 2017.

Ghaith Abdul Ahad, a writer for the newspaper, cited Iraqi intelligence reports as saying that ISIS fighters are stationed in mountainous areas east of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
"where the valleys leading to water, dry water channels and the mountains in that area have become a hideout for large numbers of krazed killer organization fighters who are trying to reorganize."

Deprived of local support in cities and towns and unable to hold territory in the face of much superior government forces, ISIS bandidos holy warriors have resorted to a quasi-nomadic existence. They seek shelter in the mountains and gorges, and constantly move until enough resources and men are mustered to organise an attack.

One tribal leader whose men had fought against ISIS in this region said that although the krazed killers’ numbers are small at the moment, they are working to recreate the conditions that allowed them to control the area. If they were left unchecked, they would soon manage to organise and regroup.

"ISIS now is in the same situation as al-Qaeda after its defeat in 2009," the tribal leader said. "They went underground to regroup and reorganise; it took them less than three years to come back stronger."

He added that the same conditions that had allowed ISIS to manipulate local anger and garner support persists. "There is little or no trust in the government, and local communities are collectively punished and treated as members of ISIS until they are proven innocent," the tribal leader said.

As Iraqi army and security forces wander among remote villages in search of ISIS sleeper cells, most of the population denies knowledge of the identity of the people who returned to the leadership of the organization. Some reports state that those who call themselves "emirs of ISIS" are trying to re-recruit the men and impose their ideology.

The newspaper describes the process of searching for ISIS sleeper cells as searching for a needle in a haystack, where the organization’s cells hide among demolished houses, burned-out car skeletons, and electricity poles and facades riddled with bullets.

Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system...
the Times magazine revealed that it had obtained information about the British krazed killer in ISIS, Alexanda Kotey, (who beheaded people), stating that he had recruited more than 25 fighters from an area west of London.

In 2018, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested Kotey, who is one of those responsible for the killing of western hostages in Syria.

According to the British magazine, Alexanda Kotey had recruited young British men who disappeared and the British police did not know their fate, which raises fears that they may return to Britannia after fighting with ISIS.

Dozens Die in Terror Attack at Niger-Mali Border
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Five civilians, four soldiers and 40 armed attackers were killed on Sunday in a clash in Niger's southwest region near the border with Mali, according to a statement from the authorities in Niger's capital, Niamey.

An estimated 100 heavily armed "terrorists" riding motorcycles attacked the Tchoma Bangou village on Sunday afternoon, Niger's Ministry of Defence said in a statement read on public television.

The "prompt and vigorous reaction" by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), "made it possible to repel the attack and inflict heavy losses on the enemy", the ministry said, adding that its soldiers had seized motorcycles and a cache of weapons, including AK47s and machine guns, from the assailants.

Tchoma Bangou is located in the Tillaberi region, bordering Mali and Burkina Faso, an area known as "the three borders" that has been regularly targeted by jihadist groups.

Tillaberi has been under a state of emergency since 2017. The authorities have banned motorbike traffic night and day for a year and ordered the closure of certain markets suspected of supplying "terrorists".

ISLAMIST INSURGENTS, BOKO HARAM THREAT
Niger has for years battled jihadist insurgencies on its southwestern flank with Mali, as well as Boko Haram on its southeastern border with Nigeria. The repeated attacks have claimed hundreds of lives and forced thousands to flee their homes.

In January, 70 civilians were killed by gunmen in Tchoma Bangou and 30 in the neighbouring village of Zaroumadareye.

Last month, 19 people were killed in villages in the same commune, according to officials.

According to United Nations estimates, there are more than 300,000 internally displaced people in Niger, many of whom fled terrorist violence that has escalated since 2015.

Last week, Friday, French President Emmanuel Macron held a summit with his counterparts from Mauritania, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger - the G5 Sahel - with a view to discussing the security implications of the imminent reduction of numbers and eventual departure of French troops from the troubled region.

DOJ Says Lego Model NOT FInished
[Epoch Times] The Department of Justice has retracted its claim that it seized a "fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set" from an accused Jan. 6 Capitol breacher.

In an memorandum asking a court to order Robert Morss be held pending trial, prosecutors claimed that law enforcement officials "recover[ed] a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set" while arresting the defendant.

But in a supplemental motion, authorities said that they erred in conveying that claim.

"Please note that after a review of the photographs from the search, there appears to have been a miscommunication and that statement appears to be inaccurate. The Lego set was in a box and not fully constructed at the time of the search, as pictured below," they wrote.
The photograph shows a box with a picture of the Capitol on the front. Some prosecutor's first day on the job?
Should be their last
Morss and other breachers ultimately entered the Capitol through a broken window, footage showed.

Prosecutors allege that he would pose a danger to the community and present a flight risk if released.
Is he going to use his Lego airplane?
A hearing on whether to allow Morss's release is scheduled for July 13.

Afghanistan
Taliban Intensifies Attacks on Ghazni City, Kandahar City
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has intensified attacks on Ghazni city and Kandahar city, both scenic provincial capitals, in the last 10 days, raising concerns among some MPs and residents who warn that the provincial centers will fall to the Taliban if the government does not focus efforts to push back the attacks.

Multiple sources on Monday said that Kahmard district in Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
and Garmsir district in Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
have fallen to the Taliban in the last 24 hours. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
the Defense Ministry said that 271 Taliban fighters were killed in Afghan forces operations in the same period. The Taliban has rejected these figures.

Special forces units started an operation in Dand district and have pledged to retake the areas that have fallen to the Taliban.

"There isn’t any specific issue here. The enemy is very far from here," said Mujahir Mohammad, a special forces member.

"The highway and the areas and districts that have been captured for propaganda reasons will be taken back soon," said a special forces member.

According to officials and other sources, festivities are underway in districts 5, 6, 7, 13 and 15 in the city of Kandahar.

"The Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar is full of deaders and the maimed," Kandahar resident Sediqullah said.

"The situation is very bad. People have been displaced from their homes," said Kandahar resident Samiullah.

A politician from Kandahar accused the government of not paying attention to the situation in the province.

"The fall of Kandahar means the fall of all Afghanistan. Favoritism in appointments in Kandahar has led to the fall of districts and now the fight has reached the city," said Khalil Ahmad Mujahid, an MP from Kandahar.

Information from local sources indicates that festivities are underway between government forces and the Taliban in districts 2, 3 and 5 in the city of Ghazni.

"The recent rise in insecurity is restricting the government’s control every day," Ghazni resident Sabir said.

"The festivities have reached the city of Ghazni and we have lost almost 50 percent of the city," said the head of Ghazni’s provincial council Nasir Ahmad Faqiri.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
the government pledged that the Taliban attacks will be pushed back.

"If you think that you will continue this war for another 20 years--if you do this, another foreign force will come to the country," presidential adviser Ibrahim Alokozai said.

Surprised to see San Diego ahead of LA. Makes me suspect the study.

Railroad sign stolen by US embassy employee, charges Russian Foreign Ministry
Direct translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] An unidentified employee of the United States embassy stole a pointer from the Ostashkovo railway station in the Tver region, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on July 12.

According to her, in the spring in the Tver region, a road sign disappeared at the junction of a railway station.

The police found out from CCTV cameras that an unknown man had stolen the sign and put it in the trunk of a car, the license plates of which were red (they are issued by to diplomatic cars).

Later, traffic police officers stopped an employee of the American embassy for violating traffic rules, who "in all respects fit the description."

"If the loss had not been found in time, a tragedy could have happened," Zakharova wrote in her telegram channel. As a result, an employee of the American embassy was sent back to the United States.

As reported by IA REGNUM , earlier Zakharova said that the United States authorities independently undermined their consular work in Russia.

"For several years, they did not just work disgracefully in the consular sphere, they undermined all their consular work," Zakharova said.

According to her, Russia did not force the United States to reduce the number of consular employees, it was Washington's decision.

Serbs in Gracanica fear for their safety
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] The head of the Serbian municipality of Gracanica in Kosovo and Metohija Srdjan Popovic asked the Commander of the Force for Kosovo (KFOR) Franco Federici to strengthen the protection of the Serbian population and their property in the territory of this municipality due to frequent incidents organized by the Albanians.

“KFOR should strengthen its patrols in the territory of Gracanica municipality. They understand the situation and know that there is tension in our municipality, ” the RTS TV channel quoted Popovich as saying after a meeting with KFOR representatives.

According to Popovich, many residents of Gracanica perceive the recent incidents as a threat.

Let us remind you that after June 28, unknown persons tore off the Serbian flag from the main gate at the entrance to the Serbian medieval monastery of Gracanica. Later, the inscriptions "Albania - AOK" ("Kosovo Liberation Army" - IA REGNUM ) appeared on the walls of the houses , and more recently on the table before entering Gracanica the name of the settlement in Serbian was smeared with paint.

Background
The Republic of Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008. By this time, the share of Serbs in the population of Kosovo had dropped to 10%. About 250,000 Serbs fled Kosovo during the 1998-1999 war.

In 2004, there was a pogrom of the Serbian population of the region, vandals desecrated some Serbian shrines.

In conditions when the leadership of the new republic was taken over by the natives of the UChK (the Albanian Liberation Army of Kosovo), who have stained themselves with crimes against the peaceful Serbian population, the Kosovo Serbs still do not feel safe.

The Kosovo Dechansky Monastery has been recognized as one of the seven most endangered cultural heritage sites in Europe.

The question arises of how to ensure the protection of the rights of the Serb population in Kosovo. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has repeatedly hinted at his readiness to use the army to protect the Serbian population of the region; at the moment, the emphasis from protecting the population is often shifted to protecting the Orthodox Serbian shrines in Kosovo. The Serbian Orthodox Church opposes the recognition of Kosovo's independence and constantly emphasizes its confrontation with the Kosovar Albanians.

At the insistence of the West, there are legal mechanisms in place for the protection of national minorities and Serbs in Kosovo, and provisions have been made to the Kosovo Constitution, according to which representatives of national minorities must be present in parliament and government. According to the national quota, 10 seats in the Kosovo parliament have been allocated for the Serbs. Serbs in each government are at least two ministers and deputy ministers.

According to the 2013 Brussels Agreements, an Association of Serbian Municipalities with executive powers should be created in Kosovo, but the Kosovo Constitutional Court has banned the implementation of this clause of the agreement.

In Kosovo, there are many parties of national minorities, competing among themselves for quota-issued parliamentary seats. The largest political organization of the Kosovo Serbs, the Serbian List, is clearly controlled from Belgrade. It is reported that representatives of "List" seek the loyalty of the local population through intimidation.

The leader of another political organization of the Kosovo Serbs - the civil initiative "Freedom, Democracy, Justice" - Oliver Ivanovic was killed in 2018, and both Albanians and Serbian special services are suspected of his murder.

Cyber
The foreigners in China's disinformation drive
[BBC] Foreign video bloggers denouncing what they say is negative coverage of China on highly controversial subjects such as Xinjiang are attracting large numbers of subscribers on platforms like YouTube.

In recent years, the "vloggers" have been increasingly presenting themselves as China-lovers, spreading Communist Party disinformation.

YouTube labels Chinese state media like broadcaster CGTN as government-funded. But there is little policing when it comes to individuals promoting similar narratives.

Some vloggers are suspected of co-operating with state-owned outlets to spread China's rhetoric to the world. But it's far from clear what really motivates them, or how effective this strategy is.

WHO ARE THE VLOGGERS?
Co-ordinated videos have recently been appearing on foreign vloggers' channels to counter investigative reports from independent media on the treatment of China's Uyghur community in its north-west Xinjiang region.

There are well-documented allegations of systematic human rights abuses on a huge scale in the region.

The vloggers include British expatriates Barrie Jones, Jason Lightfoot and father-and-son team Lee and Oli Barrett, who use their platforms to comment on the West's alleged "lies" and China's government policies.

They have subsequently gone on to appear in videos for Chinese state broadcaster CGTN.

Earlier videos on their personal channels focus on navigating daily life within China. More recent videos, however, have become overtly political; they staunchly defend China's rhetoric on topics ranging from Covid-19, to Hong Kong and Xinjiang.

Many of these YouTubers have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and their videos are fiercely promoted and commented on by nationalist users.

'NEVER BEEN PAID TO GO ON A TRIP'
Vlogging is popular in China, but Chinese video platforms have strict terms and conditions, restricting what users can post. Thousands of internet moderators also screen content.

Consequently, many Chinese vloggers end up posting material filmed from within their homes.

China's 1982 constitution guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. However, Chinese vloggers and citizen journalists are often detained or arrested for making videos deemed to be unfavourable by the authorities. In December 2020, citizen journalist Zhang Zhan was jailed for four years after making a number of vlogs during Wuhan's coronavirus outbreak.

Expat vloggers like the Barretts and Jason Lightfoot, however, appear to be in a comparatively privileged position with significant access, and in some cases facilitated by local officials or state media in China.

That Troubling Expansion of Capitol Police Gets Even Worse With Tech They Plan to Use
[red state] We previously reported on the troubling expansion of satellite offices of the Capitol Police being planned across the country.

Unlike other federal government-related police which are subject to FOIA and part of the executive branch, the Capitol Police are under the control of Congress and not subject to FOIA. So, basically you have a police force controlled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spreading out across the country.

I’m not a conspiracy fan, but you don’t have to be to find that problematic.

Now, there’s more that is setting off the alarm bells in my head.

Not only will they be setting up across the country, starting first with offices in California and Florida, but they will have military surveillance equipment as they become "an intelligence based protective agency," according to the Washington Times. Defense Secretary Loyd (sic) Austin recently approved the Capitol Police’s request for eight Persistent Surveillance Systems Ground — Medium (PSSG-M) units. The system provides high-definition surveillance video and is enabled with night vision. The system does not include facial recognition capabilities, according to the Pentagon.

"This technology will be integrated with existing USCP camera infrastructure, providing greater high definition surveillance capacity to meet steady-state mission requirements and help identify emerging threats," the Pentagon said.

The technology, originally used by the U.S. troops during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, allows the user to monitor large areas 24/7 through extremely high-resolution cameras.

Oh, no problem there either.

More?In a wartime application, the persistent surveillance units were mounted on tethered blimps. The data could be stored, combined with sensor data from other platforms, and later referenced or rewound to track individuals or groups.

It could be used by the military to develop a "pattern of life" analysis on suspected enemy combatants or intelligence targets in war zones.

The Army is going to teach the Capitol Police how to use the technology.

It just looks tailor-made to spy on large groups of people, particularly events like protests. I’m betting they wouldn’t be aiming for leftist protests either. But, really, it can involve spying over a large area. What’s the justification for that, all of the sudden? All of this because of a three-hour riot? Why does this not sound like it’s just to deal with present threats against members of Congress? And can we talk about the problems of using such things to spy on Americans — and all the constitutional questions that might raise?

The Washington Times notes that a federal appeals court ruled against the use of persistent surveillance technology similar to "Gorgon Stare technology," which they found to be unconstitutional because of the wide area of coverage allowing the tracking of hundreds at a time.

So, what’s going on here? And why is there so little coverage of this? Because whether you’re on the right or the left, this should concern both sides of the aisle.

#6  Frightening but not surprising. I assume the republican in congress are being silent because they believe they will be in control of this beast next year. This is extremely dangerous equipment. It could identify a small arty, or rocket, being fired and have fire data and direct return fire at a point where the truck with a rocket on it could not get out of the space fast enough to escape return fire. IE the return fire would be in the air before the enemy rocket hits its target. This thing tracks and data transfers at a star wars pace. For her to deploy something like it in America settles any comments of their intent for America becoming a police state or not.

Egypt now has right to sack civil servants with suspect links to terrorism
[Jpost] Egypt's parliament on Monday approved legal amendments expanding the government's ability to sack civil servants with suspected links to terrorist groups without prior disciplinary action, parliamentary sources said.

The move was described by state media as a major step in a campaign to "purify" government bodies of members of the Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt classifies as a terrorist group.

The legal amendments seen by Reuters allow the government to immediately fire any employee whose name appears on its terrorism list. This includes suspects still under investigation or on trial as well as those convicted in terrorism cases.
The list includes some liberal and leftist activists.

Individuals added to the terrorism list by court orders are generally subjected to an asset freeze and a travel ban and have 60 days to appeal the decision. Public prosecutors submit requests in court to put people or groups on the list, and the court decides on the matter.

Since 1972, the Dismissal Without Disciplinary Action Act has allowed the government to dismiss any public employee considered a threat to state security.

The amendments classify presence on the terrorist list as "serious evidence" of such a threat, while also allowing dismissed employees to appeal before administrative courts.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has overseen a broad crackdown on Islamist and liberal political opponents since leading the overthrow of Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Mursi as army chief in 2013.

A parliamentary committee said in a report on the legal amendments that they aim to preserve Egypt's national security and combat corruption, and were in line with a constitutional commitment for the state to fight terrorism.

Many Egyptians welcomed the amendments on social media, while others expressed concerns that the state could target any employee who is not pro-government regardless of any affiliation to Islamist groups.

Former NFL Player Jake Bequette Announces Run For U.S. Senate In Arkansas
[Daily Wire/Bongino] Jake Bequette’s service to his country began when he left his life as a professional football player and joined the 101st Airborne Division. He served in the military for three and a half years, but his service to his country, he says, is just beginning.
Another vet, running for Senate, challenging a two-term Pub.
"I see this run as the continuation of the oath that I took to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," Bequette said. "Just seeing the violence in our streets, the suppression of our economy, everything that’s happening coming out of Washington that’s permeated into every institution in American life. We need bold, dynamic difference makers in Washington who are going to actually stand up and fight for the conservative values that Arkansans’ and millions of Americans truly care about. That’s why I’m running."

"I came back from Iraq and I saw street violence on a scale that was more reminiscent of a Middle Eastern country than our home," Bequette said. "That made me extremely angry. We saw small businesses — not just in Arkansas but nationwide — who were absolutely crushed through no fault of their own. They were told they could not conduct business. They were told they were non-essential. The government shut them down and suppressed them. I saw firsthand through my work with The Arkansas Fund — a nonprofit small business relief that I started — the economic devastation that was wrought and the consequences of that we’re still grappling with."
I like what I read in the interview. He didn't mention the T word, but I bet they'd see eye-to-eye.

'Major gang war' in Bronx leaving teens dead in the streets
[NYPOST] A "major gang war" between ruthless Bronx crews that are fearless of cops has left a 13-year-old boy and two other teens dead in just the past five days, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Monday."We can’t keep them in [jail], and they’re going after each other,’’ a high-ranking police source said, referring to juvenile suspects who end up back on the streets after being sent to family court instead of being prosecuted as adults.

A city prosecutor added, "They don’t go to jail, so they do robberies, get in fights and carry guns.

"Life on the streets in 2021."

The first teen to die in the bloody gang-fueled stretch of borough violence was 19-year-old Tyquill Daugherty, who was shot in the head in front of his home in Crotona just before midnight Wednesday, sources and cops said.
At least they’re thinning out the herd together. Hopefully the last ones standing will have learnt a bit of sense.

Dem Congressgirl from da Bronx in Noo Yawk and leader of the Mean Girl Caucus in Congress. One of the Great Minds of the 21st Century, she is known as much for her innaleck as for her dance moves. She is all in favor of socialism, even though she's fuzzy on the details. She was the inventor of the Green New Deal, though she doesn't talk about it much anymore...
went after 'good ol conservative values' in responding to a CPAC speech by Lauren Boebert on Saturday

  • Boebert hit back, making it personal by bringing AOC's family into the argument

  • 'Ask Abuela how that government reliance is going,' she said of the progressive lawmaker's Puerto Rican grandmother

  • Ocasio-Cortez said this sort of personal attack is proof that 'today's version of 'conservative role mode' is a person who mocks' others

  • Boebert finished the feud by lashing out at AOC posting pictures of her abuela's dilapidated house and not helping while owning two apartments and a Tesla

  • Boebert told a crowd in Dallas on Saturday that government needs to 'leave us the hell alone', and stop dolling out welfare and pushing vaccines on Americans

  • 'We don't want your benefits. We don't want your welfare. Don't come knocking on my door with your Fauci Ouchi,' Rep. Boebert said of federal government

Sun Valley Jammed with Private Jets for Climate Conference
[The Post Millennial] Friday's Sun Valley conference, held in Idaho saw a lot of billionaires supposedly concerned about the environment fly in on private jets.
You don't expect them to fly with the proles, do you?
In fact, aviation authorities in the US had to ban other air traffic originating on the US West Coast in order to give the billionaires clearance to take off in a timely fashion.

"Among those attending this year are the world's richest man Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook, CIA director Bill Burns, Disney chairman Bob Iger and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg", stated the Daily Mail. Gate's ex-wife Melinda was also present, despite their separation.
CIA Director? Rich man? Or Epstein's replacement?

Gates himself has vocally defended his use of private jets, claiming that his jets should be an exception to the rule because "he took steps to mitigate their damage."
Big steps, Really big steps.
"I am offsetting my carbon emissions by buying clean aviation fuel and funding carbon capture and funding low cost housing projects to use electricity instead of natural gas and so I have been able to eliminate it and it was amazing to me how expensive that was, that cost to be green using my private jet ... we've got to drive that down," expounded Gates on the issue.
Meanwhile, regular people worry about the cost of food and gasoline.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]

  • Serikawa is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute

  • Police have released few details about the arrests or the ongoing investigation. They have also not disclosed how, if at all, the four suspects knew each other

A reasonable supposition. The body armor kinda rules out a day at the range.

Rural Americans Burn Kamala Harris At The Stake For Witchcraft

[BabylonBee] Rural Americans Burn Kamala Harris At The Stake For Witchcraft After She Shows Them A Photocopier

PODUNK, KS—Vice President Kamala Harris caused quite a stir while trying to help rural Americans vote. She traveled to some of the most backwater areas of America — thousands of miles from civilization — and brought a photocopier to show them how to copy an ID card. The rural Americans had never seen such a device, though, and soon became angry at it.

"It’s stealing our documents’ souls!" exclaimed one simple rural American upon seeing his ID copied. He then pointed an accusing finger at Harris. "She must be a witch!"

"I am not a witch," Harris stated, though her statement was undercut by the way she kept cackling like one.

The angry rural folk then tied Harris to a stake to burn her as a witch.

"It was not my idea to impose advanced city technology on your simple rural brains!" Harris pleaded with them. "That is the fault of the Republicans! I wanted to spare you from this!"

The rural people ignored her and began lighting kindling around her feet.

"Science forgive them!" Harris called out. "They know not what they do! For they are too rural and simple! Their brains are filled with nothing but knowledge about corn!"

After letting it go on for a few minutes, the Secret Service finally decided they should probably do something, so they put out the fire, untied Harris, and took her away on Broom One.

Fort Eustis Army colonel suffering from acute doinker disorder
[Daily Beast] Chelsea Curnutt didn’t plan to spend the day before her baby was due driving 16 hours to bang on the door of her fiancé’s parents’ house, but there she was.

Nineteen months earlier, she’d started Instagram messaging with Richard Kane Mansir, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army whom everyone called Kane. He was 10 years her senior, had two sons from a previous marriage, and lived 600 miles away, but she didn’t mind. He was smart and funny, and they talked easily. He liked shooting and skydiving; she loved the first and always wanted to try the latter. They met in person for the first time in December 2019, when she was driving home from vacation and offered to meet him at his post in Fort Bragg. They’d talked every day since. At the beginning of 2020, when he told her he was being relocated to Virginia, she volunteered to move with him. In October, she found out she was pregnant with their first child.

But now it was June 7, the day before their baby was due, and Curnutt hadn’t been able to reach Mansir in more than 48 hours. So she packed up her belongings, waddled out to the car, and set off to find him.

In retrospect, there were always things about the relationship that seemed off. According to Curnutt, she was watching Army leadership videos one night and stumbled across one of Mansir in which he talked about having a daughter. When she asked him why he’d never mentioned the third child, he told her she had died. Another time, she found the results from two local 10K races in which Mansir had finished right in front of the same female Army member. When she asked if he knew the woman, he brushed her off. His ex-wife had even called her once, in February of this year, and left a voicemail. But she says Mansir told her the woman was crazy and out for his money, so she ignored it.

The strangest incident happened in the spring of last year, when the couple decided to move to Virginia together. Curnutt says she volunteered to go early, so she could settle in and find work. Mansir was supposed to relocate in June. But then, in April, he told her he had been deployed—she doesn’t recall where exactly, but she remembers him calling her on WhatsApp from Kuwait. He didn’t know how long he’d be gone. At one point during the deployment, he told her he’d broken his foot and had to be evacuated to Germany. He even sent her an X-ray of the break.

In August, Curnutt was on a run near the Army base when she saw what looked like Mansir’s Jeep. It had Illinois plates and stickers for the Rangers, his former division. When she asked Mansir about it, he insisted it wasn’t his car. But a few days later, while filling up her gas tank on base, she saw him open the door and get in.

#4  Working together—poring over old phone records, credit-card charges, and travel itineraries—Curnutt and Jessica say they and Mansir’s wife have identified at least four other women with whom the soldier engaged in serious, long-term relationships over the last five years, while still married. Curnutt says she’s been contacted by several more since she started posting about his behavior on Instagram, but they’ve been too afraid to come forward.

In case you were wondering what the hell this story was about...

Technically convicted officers are not 'busted' till all normal reviews and appeal opportunities have been exhausted and then it requires the signature of the service Secretary. It will be enlightening to see if they allow him to resign in "the best interests of the Army' or hammer him considering all the other 'perversions' they now permit.

#13  Civil Affairs indeed; way to go Lt Col! But isn't this really between the Lt Col and his women? Was he a bad soldier in some way that has yet to be unearthed? Because if a man or something as yet undetermined can serve with gusto and celebration for their alternative life style, what is his crime...he likes girls, a lot?

General Patton slept with every and any Hollywood actress he could get near. It is even said by DC people that when teased about trapping women out on his boat Teddy Kennedy responded that it was a Patton strategy.

George Custer always campaigned with what was said to be a very beautiful teen aged girl. In Northern Virginia he had a 14-16 year old recently freed girl said to be particularly striking. In the West he raised his credit with the red man with a similarly aged Northern Cheyanne red head beauty who road beside him at the head of his column and was the envy of those who encountered her.

Point being the good Col didn't invent it and his women have abundant legal recourse. Other than attaching his pay this has what exactly to do with the Army, criminalizing heterosexuality?

Democrats Move to Take Over Your Credit Score and Go Full 'Woke' – Just Like Communist China
[PJ Media via InstaPundit] That was fast. Here come the Chinese-like social credit scores.

Leftist Democrats, but I repeat myself, are making no secret of their plans to become more like their comrades in China. They support vaccine passports for COVID mRNA shots in order for people to receive certain social rewards such as going to school or attending a Major League Baseball game, just like the social credit score system in the People’s Republic. Now, Democrats and Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, want your FICO score to go full "woke."

They’re not even trying to hide it.

USA Today reports that in testimony before Waters’s committee on June 29, the counsel for a group called the National Consumer Law Center, Chi Chi Wu, a product of Harvard and Johns Hopkins, gave away the game on how her law-fare grifting group and people like them want to change FICO credit scores. Wu and her fellow travelers got a warm reception at the three-hour-plus hearing.

Wu wants the government to take over the credit scoring "now," which in her magical utopia would include response "to public pressure" without putting "profit-making as their top priority."

While public agencies are not perfect, at least they would not have profit-making as their top priority. They would be responsive to public pressure and government oversight. They could also be charged with developing credit scoring models to reduce the yawning racial and economic inequality in this country.

The fact that these are private, profit-seeking companies explains why the credit bureaus are constantly expanding their products into uses, such as employment, insurance, and tenant screening, that ultimately harm Americans and contribute to the massive inequality in our nation.

Scammers impersonate government security in Syria's Hama
Whenever things are insecure, the conmen appear to take advantage of the situation.
[NPASYRIA] Nizar Haloum (a pseudonym), a resident of the Tishreen neighborhood in central Syria’s Hama, refused to be accused of naiveté after being defrauded by a person who claimed to be a security agent who would help him remove his name from the wanted lists of government security branches.

Haloum says that the caller’s tone was similar to that of government security personnel in Hama, and that he mentioned accurate personal and family information about him.

Residents of Hama are subjected to extortion from unidentified persons who contact them impersonating security officials in order to request the transfer of phone balances worth tens of thousands of Syrian pounds, after accusations or threats of arrest.

Belarus KGB busts terror cells
[TASS] Belarusian TV also informed that it will air a two-episode documentary of the terror cells’ investigation

All members of terror cells discovered in Belarus have been apprehended, all of them are making confessions, Belarusian TV reported Monday citing the State Security Committee (KGB).

"All members of foreign-controlled terror cells have been apprehended and they are making confessions, according to the KGB. Investigations on multiple episodes are underway," the televised news broadcast said.

According to the news anchor, the investigations include a case of attempted arson of logging equipment, and an attempted explosion at the Russian military base near Vileyka. One more episode is an attempted murder of journalist Grigory Azaryonok. According to the report, the "punisher’s list" included other journalists as well.

The TV also informed that it will air a two-episode documentary of the terror cells’ investigation.

On July 2, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko claimed that sleeping terror cells, the so-called self-defense squads, have been discovered in Belarus. They allegedly aim to carry out a forceful regime change and Germany, Ukraine, the US, Poland and Lithuania are allegedly involved in their operation.
That sounds like a non-jihad kind of terror, though they certainly seem to need rounding up.
According to Lukashenko, these forces sought to destroy a large amount of logging equipment in Belarus, and blow up a Russian Navy communication hub in Vileyka. He also disclosed an attempted murder of STV reporter Grigory Azaryonok.

Used to live in Connecticut. No matter how hot the day turns out to be, there's rarely any warning in the air at dawn and no particular urgency to drink water until it comes out your ears.

Afghanistan
Gen. McKenzie Takes Charge of Remaining US Forces in Afghanistan
[ToloNews] Marine Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie took charge of the remaining US forces in Afghanistan during a ceremony in Kabul on Monday.

The command of the forces was handed to him from Gen. Austin S. Miller who served in the post since 2018.

Addressing the ceremony, Gen. Miller said that achieving peace has become hard as the violence remains high. He called on the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
to immediately reduce violence so that there is progress in talks.

"The people of Afghanistan will be in my heart and on my mind for the rest of my life." He called the post "the highlight of my military career."

"Our job now is not to forget" those who sacrificed here, he said.

McKenzie takes the responsibility as the US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
’s military presence in the country will end within the next two months. The new mission is "US Forces Afghanistan Forward" involving those troops who will remain in the country to protect diplomats after the US military drawdown ends next month.

"The violence is taking place across the country, but we know that with that violence, it works very difficult to achieve as a political settlement," Miller said. "So again, what I tell the Taliban is they’re responsible too. The violence that’s going on is against the will of the Afghan people. And it needs to stop."

Gen. McKenzie meanwhile pledged the US’s continued support for Afghan forces.

"While drawdown continues and will be ended by the end of August ... United States commitment to support the Afghan government and its armed forces carries on," he said.

"Some gaps that have emerged after the withdrawal of foreign forces, these gaps are being filled and we are addressing the areas in need," National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib said.

Last week, US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect hacked up by the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
said that the United States military presence in Afghanistan will end on August 31.

On July 2 the US Defense Department’s press secretary John Kirby said that the new Kabul-based command will be led by Rear Adm. Peter Vasely, and those troops will help with security requirements at the Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai

International Airport there.

The force will also offer "continued advice and assistance to Afghan national defense and security forces" and support counterterrorism efforts, Kirby said.

"(McKenzie) will continue to exercise authority over the conduct of any and all counterterrorism operations needed to protect the homeland from threats emanating out of Afghanistan, and he will lead efforts to develop options for the logistical, financial and technical support to Afghan forces once our drawdown is complete," Kirby said.

Islamic terrorists lead religious services in a quarter of federal prisons: inspector general report
[Just the News] Audit found inmates affiliated with Islamic State, al-Qaeda, al-Shabaab allowed to lead services.

Inmates convicted on terrorism-related charges or with "known connections to terrorist organizations," including the Islamic State, al-Qaeda and al-Shabaab, were allowed to lead religious services at a third of the federal prisons audited by a federal watchdog, raising deep security concerns.

A recent audit by the Justice Department's inspector general of the Chaplaincy Services Program in the Federal Bureau of Prisons found four out of 12 facilities in which terrorist inmates were eligible to lead religious services.

At three of the facilities, the prisoners were affiliated with Islamic terrorist groups, with at least two leading services "on a regular basis" or a "frequent basis." One of them was chosen to lead services by other inmate coreligionists "due to his extensive faith knowledge and Arabic fluency."

This wasn't the first time the IG found terrorist inmates leading services, the report states, citing a March 2020 audit.

#2  I made the front page of the LA Times, above the fold, for the first time in my professional life, for asking, in a secure Law Enforcement only setting, a question about how we were going to develop policy about post 9/11 Islamic Religious services for California Department of Corrections Muslim inmates if we didn't know how many there were, and what would be the credentialing standards on clerics, and the version of the Koran permitted. We had been told that there were no formal credentials needed, merely the call to serve was adequate to become an Imam and gain access to the general prison population, which seemed fraught with potential terrorist recruitment risk without extensive background checks, which were deemed as Islamophobic. (...the Noble Koran for example, apparently has far more aggressive texts apparently regarding Jihad and permitted behaviors against non-believers) For asking those questions alone, I was pilloried by name as a bigot and anti-Muslim. It turned out the wife of one of the Senior Cal DOJ Agents present was a Press Secretary for a senior Democrat member of the Legislature and leaked my name and selectively edited questions and context.

South Africa Boils Over Imprisonment Of Zuma
[DAILYTRUST] There is an ongoing crisis in South Africa over the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma.

Zuma, 79, was placed in durance vile
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
for defying a court order to testify before a state-backed inquiry probing allegations of corruption against him during his term as president from 2009 to 2018.

But his supporters have been holding protests in different parts of the country.

In the violence that followed the protest, businesses, including those belonging to Nigerians, got burnt.

The Nigeria Union South Africa (NUSA), has urged Nigerians living in South Africa to be vigilant and adopt safety and security measures.

The President of the union, Mr Adetola Olubajo, gave the advice in a statement emailed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from Johannesburg on Monday.

He said five businesses belonging to Nigerians were among those destroyed on Sunday as the country grapple with the violence.

The protests that engulfed Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng Province has spread to other parts of the country leading to looting and damaging of property.

Zuma’s bid to be released from the Estcourt Correctional Centre was rejected by a regional court on Friday.

He is set to make another attempt with the Constitutional Court, the country’s highest court.

Contra our new troll Knuckles, I would agree to a point. I worked the 1994 World Cup venues at the old Foxborough Stadium. We were selling official World Cup soccer balls for the reasonable, affordable price of $200. I remember only three people buying those balls, and all three of them were Nigerians trying to buy them with fake $100 bills.
