Public health experts opine that the SARS-CoV-2 virus (that causes Covid-19) and its multiple variants are becoming endemic. That means SARS-CoV-2 and its infinite number of variants will not be eliminated, but become a manageable part of the human-viral ecosystem.
Sadly, our government is not responding in accordance with the scientific facts. Instead, federal and some local governments are mandating more vaccines, culminating in proof of vaccination to engage in society and continue living as a normal human being. This is not science. This is nascent totalitarianism.

A Pearl Harbor fact that's always fascinated me is that the battleships sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor were raised and repaired, expcept for the Arizona and the Oklahoma. At the battle of the Surigao Straights in October 1944 they "crossed the Japanese T" and rained heavy caliber naval artillery down on the Japanese fleet. Or, in the immortal words of Randy Quaid, "I'm back, boys!".

...They could - it's a perfectly reasonable tactic.
On the other hand, that either makes those ships either auxiliary warships (and therefore legitimate targets) or privateers, in which case I would refer them to Paris Declaration Respecting Maritime Law (1856), which outlaws that sort of thing. The US never signed it, but has made repeated statements that it shall abide by its provisions. Either way, every Chinese merchant ship will be a legitimate target.
The Chinese want to get cute? No problems. Even a crippled USN would be able wipe the PRC's merchant fleet from the seas, and without merchant ships anything they thought they were going to get from a war would vanish once their economy collapses.

Legislation expanding the Selective Service System received bipartisan support in both chambers of Congress earlier this year.
Women have been allowed to serve in combat since 2015, prompting calls to include women in the draft.
The final version of the defense act will be introduced Monday, a source told Politico. The expanded draft was removed so that Republicans would accept military justice system reforms.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) tweeted on Monday evening, "If the massive expansion of the draft to include women is not removed, I will continue to insist on a vote on the Senate floor to strike the provision."

Why do we even bother having people register for the draft? The US has had an all-volunteer force since 1973. The military does not want conscripts - they don't want to be there, and often perform worse than volunteers.

In a large WWIII across 3 continents type of war, we will need a draft. Which is why we still have selective service. I am all for women getting drafted. You wanted equal rights, you got it. [DW] Another three of 17 kidnapped members of a US missionary group have been freed in Haiti. The gang, who kidnapped the group in October, is still holding another 12 people for ransom.
A Haitian gang has released another three people who were kidnapped in October when they were visiting an orphanage in the country.
The three were released on Sunday according to the US religious group that paid for their trip.
Another 12 people are still being held by the so-called "400 Mawozo" gang.
"We are thankful to God that three more hostages were released last night. Those who were released are safe and seem to be in good spirits," Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries said in a statement on Monday.
Two other ministry group members were released in November.
RANSOM DEMANDS
After the abduction, the leader of the 400 Mawozo gang threatened to kill the hostage unless their demands were met. According to authorities that included a $1 million (roughly €900,000) per person ransom demand.
Christian Aid Ministries did not give the names of those released, why they were freed or other information.
A Haitian gang has released 5 of 17 kidnapped members of a US missionary group. It has previously demanded $1 million per person ransom to release them.
"We long for all the hostages to be reunited with their loved ones," it said.
Sixteen US citizens were among those kidnapped in October, along with a Canadian. The group includes 5 men, 7 women and 5 children.
They were taken while on a trip to visit an orphanage east of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince.
TURMOIL IN HAITI
The release comes amid an ongoing spike in kidnappings in Haiti. The US State Department warns travelers to avoid visiting the country; "kidnapping is widespread and victims regularly include US citizens."
Haiti is still reeling from the political fallout after the July 7 presidential liquidation, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck in mid-August and a severe fuel shortage.
Gang violence also continues to plague parts of the country. On Sunday, a gang leader known as "Ti Lapli" posted a YouTube video warning people to avoid the Martissant district of the capital city. It has been the site of violent mostly peacefulfestivities between warring gangs.
"The next few days will be difficult. We will not remain with our arms crossed in face of those who try to destroy us," he said.

REMAINS SENT OFF TO COLOMBO
The remains of the factory manager were sent off to Colombo earlier today. Sri Lankan embassy officials arrived at the hospital to escort Kumara's body to the airport and laid flowers over it.
Priyantha's last rites will be performed upon the arrival of his body in Sri Lanka.
Twenty-six suspects arrested in connection with the lynching of the Sri Lankan factory manager have been remanded into police custody.
The police presented the suspects before an anti-terrorism court earlier in the day and requested their remand for interrogation.
During the hearing, the names of the suspects were called out to mark their presence. All the suspects responded to their names except for one, named Shoaib alias Gonga (speech impaired).
The investigation officer informed the court that Shoaib is speech impaired.
The police requested the court to grant 15-day remand of the suspects for interrogation which the court accepted and ordered the investigation officer to present them on December 12.
So far, a total of 131 suspects have been arrested in connection with the Sialkot lynching case.
THE INCIDENT
Priyantha, working as a manager at a private factory in Sialkot, was lynched on Friday by a mob after being accused of blasphemy.
The gruesome incident was dubbed by PM Imran Khan as "a day of shame for Pakistain".
Workers of a garment industry, located on Sialkot’s Wazirabad Road, had alleged that the foreigner had committed blasphemy. He was subsequently lynched and his body set on fire.
The mob had also vandalised the factory and blocked traffic, according to the police.
The brutal murder drew widespread condemnation from senior government functionaries, including the prime minister and president, as well as the military's top leadership, who promised to bring all those involved to the book.

Only two of the defendants are described as South Georgia business owners - most are contractors and recruiters.
There were essentially three aspects to the alleged human trafficking operation: misusing the H-2A visa program to bring in workers from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras under the pretext of being agricultural workers; abusing and exploiting the workers to make money; and laundering the proceeds through big cash purchases, cashier's checks and a casino.
Investigators have dubbed the gang the 'Patricio TCO' (a transnational criminal organization) after Maria Patricio, a 70-year-old resident of Nicholls, Georgia.
She is accused of filing fraudulent petitions to bring workers into the United States via the country's H-2A work visa program. Patricio has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her, VICE reports.
Under H-2A, a worker's legal status is contingent on remaining under the employment of the party that sponsored their visa. This means they are tied to that sponsor and cannot simply pick up sticks and work for someone else.
Starting in at least 2015, the criminals starting to haul in thousands of workers, allegedly promising them they would be paid under the terms of a contract - typically $10 to $12 per hour and would be provided with transportation, housing and food.
The criminal enterprise would then send dozens of false petitions to the government seeking more than 71,000 laborers for an 'agricultural employer.'
The US then issued 'thousands' of these visas to foreign nationals.
Georgia is second only to Florida for most H-2A workers in the nation.
Once the more than 100 victims were brought into southern Georgia under the program and were kept in cramped, unsanitary quarters in camps with little or no food, limited plumbing and without safe water, according to the indictment.
Migrant workers were also allegedly charged unlawful fees they could not afford, and some were illegally forced to do lawn care, construction, and restaurant work.
Others were threatened with violence or deportation, the indictment states, and they would coerce the workers and witnesses to provide the federal government with 'materially false information' to hide their illegal activities.
Federal officials say the slavery ring extended across southern Georgia where farmers paid the conspirators to provide contract laborers.
Often, they were sold to other members of the crime ring in the southern Georgia counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Coffee, Tattnall, Toombs and Ware. But the illegal activities extended within the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Georgia; the Middle District of Florida; the Southern District of Texas.
The defendants then allegedly laundered the cash by siphoning millions into a casino and through the purchases of land, homes, vehicles, and businesses.

ISIS attacked a Peshmerga checkpoint near the village of Qara Salim close to the town of Pirde on Sunday, as the nearby village of Liheban, located near Mount Qarachogh in Makhmour, was also taken over by ISIS after villagers attempted to fight back their attackers.

[POLITICO] As Democrats seek to reach out to Latino voters in a more gender-neutral way, they’ve increasingly begun using the word Latinx, a term that first began to get traction among academics and activists on the left.But that very effort could be counterproductive in courting those of Latin American descent, according to a new nationwide poll of Hispanic voters.
Only 2 percent of those polled refer to themselves as Latinx, while 68 percent call themselves "Hispanic" and 21 percent favored "Latino" or "Latina" to describe their ethnic background, according to the survey from Bendixen & Amandi International, a top Democratic firm specializing in Latino outreach.
More problematic for Democrats: 40 percent said Latinx bothers or offends them to some degree and 30 percent said they would be less likely to support a politician or organization that uses the term.
At a time when Republicans appear to be making inroads among Latino voters, the survey results raise questions about how effectively the party is communicating with them, according to pollster Fernand Amandi and other Democrats and Latino vote experts.
"The numbers suggest that using Latinx is a violation of the political Hippocratic Oath, which is to first do no electoral harm," said Amandi, whose firm advised Barack Obama If you like your coverage you can keep it... ’s successful Hispanic outreach nationwide in his two presidential campaigns. Hispanic has always been a geographic reference to "Hispaniola", making it distinct from Latin America. LatinX is the Dems attempt to blur/destroy those lines.

Doro said the incident happened at Madaci and Iyo communities but that officials were still awaiting the report of what led to the deadly clash.
A resident, Idris, told Premium Times that the clash began on Wednesday following an encroachment into farmlands by herders which led to destruction of crops.
He said the encroachment provoked the farming communities to come out enmasse to protect their crops which are already ripe for harvest.
Idris said two people were murdered in Madaci, naming the victims as Abba Ali and Umar Sani.
He also identified one other person he said was killed at Iyo community as Aliso. He said the victim was a labourer from Kazaure local government area working as a farm hand in Kirikasamma.
The source said the herders used arrows and machetes to kill the three people.
He added that the injured victims were taken to neighbouring Kano and Yobe States for treatment.
He said the injured victims were taken to Nguru in Yobe and the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano, while some others were in Hadejia responding to treatment.
“The hospital in Kano is requesting N300,000 to remove the arrow from the body of a victim and we are now contributing money but we are yet to meet the amount,” Idris said.
The police spokesperson in Jigawa, Lawan Adam, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
