[ChannelNewsAsia] HONG KONG: Cash-strapped Kaisa Group Holdings Ltd
*shrug* They don’t appear to be in the Rantburg archives...
has joined a growing list of Chinese property developers unable to publish 2021 audited earnings by Mar 31 as required by listing rules, deepening market concern about the sector's financial health.
Kaisa late on Tuesday said a virus lockdown in Shenzhen left audit work incomplete so it cannot publish financial results on time. In a filing, it said trading of its shares in Hong Kong will therefore be suspended from Apr 1 as per bourse rules.
Bigger peer China Evergrande Group, the world's most-indebted property developer, also on Tuesday said it would not be able to publish results on time due to a large number of additional audit procedures resulting from "drastic changes" in operations since the second half of 2021.
Trading of shares in Evergrande and two Hong Kong-listed subsidiaries has been suspended since Monday.
Other major developers including Sunac China Holdings Ltd and Shimao Group Holdings Ltd also this week said they will delay reporting audited results due to disruption caused by COVID-19, but that they will produce unaudited results on March 31 to keep their shares trading.
[Bus Insider] Putin was frequently visited by a vast team of doctors, Russian investigative news outlet Proekt said. There has been much speculation about the Russian president's health. Putin bathes in blood extracts from severed deer antlers as a form of alternative medicine, the report says.

/\ In Chinese medicine, deer velvet has been used to treat impotence, female disorders, urinary problems, skin ailments, word salad, and knee weakness. It also is employed as a tonic in children with learning disabilities.....
#7
Come on. How is Putin sure that the blood is legitimately deer antler blood? How much blood can an antler hold? How many deer would you have to kill for their antler blood to fill a bathtub? What if it is some kind of scam blood from a cow that was stirred with a deer antler? Does that fit the criteria? Is their 3rd party labeling on deer antler blood to ensure that it is legitimate?

I hear Putin kills the deer himself, with his own hands and teeth. You really don't want to know how he drains the blood and grinds the antlers believe me.

Lightning flashes in the sky above Moscow. A murder of crows flaps overhead. In the streets men pull their trench coats desperately about themselves and shiver, while women clutch their children in fear. Spring rain falls in frozen sheets, turning everything grey - though, oddly, this is also what Moscow is like in Summer as well.
Deep, deep in the bowels of the Kremlin, below the chambers where Comrade Koba used his wives for target practice and Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria used other men's wives for other things, in a stone room lies a rectangular bathing pool filled with deer antler blood. The Lazarus Pit.
Aleksandr Dugin enters, wearing a long, hooded black robe with the symbol of the fourth ideology emblazoned upon its chest in red, the grey of his Rasputin beard clashing with its stoner metal color scheme. He is quickly intersected by a teenage gymnast with a shaved head, also wearing a robe.
"The Czar is not done with his treatment yet," she whispers pleadingly.
"Wake him." orders Dugin dismissively with a wave of his hand. The gymnast retreats with a bow. There is a clanking of metal as ancient chains begin to turn, raising the naked body of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin from the depths of his artiodactylian bath. Oddly, his is somehow still riding a horse. Which is also naked.
Dugin raises his hands into the air and in a desiccated, necromancer voice commands-

[Free Beacon via Bongino] The Biden administration's new nuclear accord with Iran is likely to include a loophole that will "allow Iranian nationals linked to terrorism to enter and stay in the United States," according to a new Republican-authored policy analysis circulating on Capitol Hill and reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.
With negotiations over a revamped nuclear deal inching closer to completion, the Biden administration is considering a concession that will remove Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) from the U.S.-designated terrorist list.

[FoxNews] House Republicans have called on Hunter Biden to testify before Congress later this week, according to a letter from a senior House Republican.
"House Committee on Oversight and Reform Republicans request the attendance and testimony of Hunter Biden," Ranking Member James Comer said in a letter to House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney.
The committee hearing, titled "It’s Electric: Developing the Postal Service Fleet of the Future," is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5.
Comer went on to cite Biden’s supposed expertise in cobalt mining, which secured him a negotiating position with Chinese officials, he suggested.

I think they are more interested in showing how ignorant Hunter Biden is on cobalt mining or EV batteries. Basically to show he is totally unqualified for the positions he's taken - and by extension his 'pay' was simply a bribe to his father.

[Express.co via Gateway] GERMANY has been left in shambles as Vladimir Putin reportedly has cut off the crucial Gazprom gas supply amid the ongoing crisis with Ukraine, a new report has claimed.
Germany depends on Russian gas for about 40 percent of its needs, but has joined Western sanctions against Moscow over Ukraine, including by halting the Nord Stream 2 Baltic gas pipeline designed to double the flow of Russian gas direct to Germany. The Russian gas supplier said it had terminated its participation in Gazprom Germania GMBH and all of its assets, including Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd.
However, it provided no further details or explanation.
Katja Yafimava, senior research fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies told Reuters: "I think this means Gazprom is drawing a curtain on being an active participant in the European gas market. Essentially it is going home because it no longer feels welcome.
"I think Gazprom understands it is going to face a hostile political and regulatory environment in Europe and therefore wants to consolidate and conduct all of its business in one place — St Petersburg, most likely with the political support of the Russian government."

Biden last week: "The ruble almost is immediately reduced to rubble."
He's so full of shit. The ruble has gained about 70% since the sanctions were imposed. It's where it was before the war. The reality is the exact opposite of what this fool says.

I read somewhere there would be delays of the cutoff until May. Is the gas cut off or not? I have not seen any other media report it is off. If so we should probably pay closer attention to the nuc stories.
[JustTheNews] The Biden administration has allowed a more than eleven-fold increase in the number of illegal immigrant offenders let out of Texas prisons and into the general U.S. population, despite federal immigration law requiring ICE to take convicts into custody after serving their time, usually in advance of deportation.
The disclosure emerges from state-initiated litigation that is beginning to shed light on what critics call the administration's secretive and lenient handling of immigrants beginning last year – treatment that is imperiling public safety, alarmed state authorities say.
Soon after President Joe Biden assumed office a year ago January, agents of federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement began dropping their usually automatic requests to take custody from Texas authorities of immigrant convicts set to be released from the state's prisons and jails, so they could be deported.

[JustTheNews] TSA announced changes on International Transgender Day of Visibility
The Transportation Security Administration on Thursday morning announced new standards for screening transgender, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming airline passengers at airport checkpoints.
The agency said the changes are to "improve the screening experience for all passengers" and announced them on International Transgender Day of Visibility.
TSA also said the new standards will go into effect after the implementation of new technology that will in part replace the current, gender-based system, which will be more accurate and "advance civil rights and improve the customer experience of travelers who previously have been required to undergo additional screening due to alarms in sensitive areas."
If the testing of the new technology proves successful, the agency will begin deploying the other updates to airports later this year including:
Reducing the number of pat-down screenings
Streamlining identity validation
Making TSA PreCheck more inclusive to include an "X" gender marker option on its application
Updating its Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming Passengers web page to provide information to the traveling public on all gender-related updates
[JustTheNews] With midterms elections in North Carolina starting in about six weeks, more than 60,000 registered voters in the state are dead, registered in another state or registered twice under variations of their name, according to a new watchdog report.
The report released Tuesday by the Public Interest Legal Foundation, a nonprofit law firm focused on election integrity, in one example found 7,933 North Carolinians are still registered to vote after having died in 2020.
"North Carolina officials need to use the time they still have to prepare voter rolls for the midterm elections," foundation President J. Christian Adams said. "Time is running out. Silly, obvious errors in the voter roll can create opportunities for voter fraud and chaos in a close election. Correcting deceased and duplicate records now will help to preemptively address those risks."
Primary balloting in the state begins May 17.
The foundation's audit began in late 2019 with the tracking of a sample of registered voters that matched the Social Security Death Index – to see how long it usually took the state's Board of Elections to remove them from the voter roll after they were listed as deceased.
About 12,940 deceased registrants were found in spring 2020. And according to the index, 95% of them died before 2020. The 7,933 deceased voters still on the roll show that some of the registrants, but not all, have been removed.
The foundation found two instances in which registered voters were dead for about 20 years but not removed from the voter roll until 2021.
A total of 42,984 registered voters in North Carolina left the state and established or renewed their out-of-state voter registration before the 2020 Election.
The foundation used the U.S. Postal Service's National Change of Address system and the organization's national voter database to track voters who moved from North Carolina to another state and determine if they registered there before November 2020.
In North Carolina, a residents loses residential status if they take steps to vote in another state. Thus, while it isn't illegal under state or federal law to be registered to vote in two different places, North Carolina considers "a subsequent registration a disqualifying action," according to the foundation.
To be sure, the names of dead people not being purged from voter rolls and people being registered in two states has always been a challenge for election officials. But numerous statewide audits after the 2020 elections have shed new light on challenges related to voter roll integrity.
About 87% of "interstate duplicate residents cast ballots outside of North Carolina in 2020," whereas just 8% cast ballots in North Carolina, and the rest didn't vote in 2020, the foundation also found.
While election officials are in charge of tracking residents who fail to fix their registration status, North Carolina is not part of any state-sharing agreements or interstate compacts to "track voters" who move to or die in other states, the report states.
There are also 13,525 North Carolina voters who were registered twice at the same address but sometimes with different variations of their names.
In 60% of these cases, age, residence and name were exactly the same.
Eighteen percent of the time, both age and residence matched, but the one name just had the middle initial, whereas the other registration spelled out the middle name. In 15% of cases, the age and residence were the same, but the confusion of maiden and married last names allowed for two different registrations.
Other duplicate registrations with the same age and address included spelling or punctuation errors.
The foundation learned from county officials that the faulty copies can occur when a person registers to vote through different avenues, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles vs. a third-party voter drive "and omits personal identifying information," like the optional last four digits of their Social Security number.

...You would think that a voter roll accurate to about 95-98% (it's doable) would be a point of pride with a state.

Insisting on picture ID, like a local driver's license would also cut down on fraud. It should cut down on dead people voting in most cases.

Simple.
Make it a CRIME punishable by X years of mandatory jail time and a $$,$$$ fine. When found to have multiple registrations to vote in 1 or more locations during a State or Federal election.
What was I thinking??? Many states already have such laws they just don't use or enforce them.
‘[T]he total number of inactive registrations reported by North Carolina dropped from about 1.2 million in 2019, to about 765,000 in 2021 (a 36% drop).’
In June 2019, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) released data showing that voter registration rates in a significant proportion of North Carolina’s 100 counties were close to, at or above 100% of their age-eligible citizenry – statistics considered by the courts to be a strong indication that a jurisdiction is not taking the steps required by law to remove ineligible registrants. Judicial Watch’s analysis also showed that at the time of the EAC report the entire State of North Carolina had a registration rate close to 100% of its age-eligible citizenry.
In the settlement, Judicial Watch told the court:
[T]he total number of inactive registrations reported by North Carolina dropped from about 1.2 million in 2019, to about 765,000 in 2021 (a 36% drop). The statewide percentage of inactive registrations dropped from 17% in 2019, which the complaint alleged to be a national outlier, to 10% in 2021, which is close to the median state inactive rate. The number of registrations removed for failure to respond to an address confirmation notice and vote in two consecutive elections has increased, from about 220,000 for the period reported in 2019, to about 590,000 for the period reported in 2021 (a 168% increase).
With respect to the two North Carolina counties, Judicial told the court:
Data for Mecklenburg County and Guilford County also showed improvement. From 2019 to 2021, the percentage of inactive registrations reported in Mecklenburg County dropped from 15.5% to 13%, and in Guilford County from 19% to 11%. The number of registrations removed for failure to respond to an address confirmation notice and vote in two elections increased during that same period, from roughly 21,000 to 51,000 in Mecklenburg County, and from 7,000 to 33,000 in Guilford County (a 142% and 372% increase, respectively).
(In 2020, Judicial Watch also sued Pennsylvania, and Colorado for failing to clean their voter rolls.)
“This is a win for the voters of North Carolina – because clean voter rolls help pave the way to cleaner elections,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “North Carolina follows Judicial Watch voter roll clean-up successes in California, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. And we are right now prepping lawsuits against other states to force them to clean up their rolls.”
In November 2021, Judicial Watch sent letters to election officials in 14 counties and five states—Arkansas, California, Illinois, New York, and Oregon—notifying them of evident violations of the NVRA.
[JustTheNews] Back before the 2020 election, when Democrats and their allies in the corporate media were still claiming the Hunter Biden story was a conspiracy theory or Russian disinformation, GOP Sen. Ron Johnson released an open letter to America posing questions to then-candidate Joe Biden.
Like most Biden scandals at the time, it mostly got ignored or ridiculed. But the questions were rooted in facts and evidence gathered over two years by investigators on Johnson’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Now nearly two years later, a funny thing has happened. The giants of the corporate media – the New York Times, Washington Post and CNN among them – have abruptly reversed course and acknowledged Hunter Biden’s foreign business pursuits raise legal issues and that content on his laptop left behind in a Delaware repair shop in 2019 was authentic all along.
And now Johnson’s unanswered questions posed in August 2020 loom larger than ever as a federal grand jury in Delaware investigates Hunter Biden for his Ukraine and China business deals, taxes, foreign lobbying and other issues, and some Democrats reportedly brace for a possible indictment.
Here are Johnson’s questions to now-President Biden, Hunter's father, from his August 2020 letter, with a few updates driven by Just the News own original reporting the past two years:
Why did you meet with Devon Archer, your son’s now-convicted business partner, at the White House on April 16, 2014? What was discussed? Did you discuss anything related to Ukraine, Hunter Biden or Burisma?
Were you aware that Devon Archer joined the board of Burisma six days later?
In April 2014, you gave a speech in Kiev calling for Ukraine to expand its natural gas production, Burisma’s core business. In private emails, Hunter Biden and Archer took credit for the language in the speech. Why did you make the request and did your son or his business partner have anything to do with it? (NEW)
Were you aware that Burisma’s owner, Mykoloa Zlochevsky, was generally viewed as a corrupt oligarch and that his London bank account containing $23 million had been seized by British officials only15 days before Hunter Biden joined the board of a company he owned?
Was Hunter Biden aware that British officials had seized Zlochevsky’s bank account?
When did you first become aware of Zlochevsky and Burisma’s reputations for corruption?
Do you believe Zlochevsky and Burisma are corrupt?
Were you aware in April 2014 that Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma? When did you first become aware that Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma? When did you become aware of how much Hunter Biden was being compensated by Burisma?
Why do you believe Burisma recruited and paid Archer and your son to be on its board?
What skills or knowledge do you believe Hunter Biden possesses that qualified him to be on Burisma’s board and receive $50,000 to $166,000 per month for his and his partner’s services?
When did you learn your son had not paid taxes on some of his overseas work, including on monies received from Burisma?
When did you first learn your son was facing a federal investigation?
State Department officials have testified your son’s work for Burisma while you oversaw [as vice president] Ukraine policy created the appearance of a conflict of interest and they further wrote in a classified email in 2016 that the conflict had undercut U.S. anticorruption efforts in Ukraine. How do you respond to those criticisms? (NEW)
What exactly had Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin done that caused you to threaten to withhold $1 billion in desperately needed aid from Ukraine if President Poroshenko didn’t fire him?
What do you know about Hunter Biden’s business dealings in China?
A 2017 series of memos referred to a Chinese business deal your son was involved in that reserved 10% equity for the “big guy.” What did you know about it and were you that “big guy?” (NEW)
What if anything do you know about your son's dealings with Russian oligarch Elena Baturina?
Did you ever meet with any of Hunter Biden's foreign business partners from China, Russia or Ukraine, including but not limited to Burisma's Vadym Pozharskyi or Baturina or her Moscow mayor husband?
What do you know about financial benefits your brothers and sister-in-law have obtained because of their relationship to you?
Emails on your son’s laptop now in the hands of the FBI refer to shared accounts or bills between you and him. Did your son ever give your any money, gift or financial benefit from his business dealings? (NEW)

Watching the middle east implode this summer and fall is going to be interesting to say the least.
I’m not sure how much imploding we’ll see. The unstable places are already in full blown war of all against all, and the rest are pondering the benefits of joining the Abraham Accords to get Israel on their side against Iran as it approaches nuclear capability. Sure there will be hunger, and the drought has already started, but suffering is something they’re accustomed to over there.
TULLAHASSEE, Okla. — If you really concentrate, you can imagine the town that this community’s elders describe. There was the grocery store on the highway, and the gas station. There were the shops where children walked to buy lunch for 50 cents on school days. There was Ms. Sadie’s chicken shack and Dr. Minn’s office. All of that’s gone now. In their place, either vacant lots or dilapidated buildings.
Today, you’re more likely to see loose dogs than people on Lincoln Street, the town’s main drag. There are a couple of horses in a yard just across from the town hall, which used to be the center of a bustling commercial district. Now, Lincoln Street has a handful of homes, the low-slung cinder-block town hall, two churches and just one storefront, Bates Barbecue.
The once-thriving all-Black town of Tullahassee was ravaged by government policies that divested it and other Black communities, said Mayor Keisha Currin. And she says the city is owed reparations to get back on its feet. Owed reparations? FOADIAF

From the article:
Last year, Currin joined Mayors Organized for Reparations and Equity (MORE), a group founded by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. It counts more than a dozen mayors across the country as members, and its goal is to become a laboratory for new reparations programs that address slavery and the decades of explicitly anti-Black government policies that followed.
Its vision of reparations involves finding resources to rebuild the town and, by doing so, creating a blueprint for the hundreds of all-Black communities that once dotted the United States and drew African Americans fleeing racial violence.
This looks like they’re trying for government-funded Black separatism. Better than the Moorish Sovereign Citizen/Indigenous Moors idiots called the Not F*cking Around Coalition who announced Black self rule within an eleven mile border through the center of Austin — along the lines of Antifa’s CHAZ in Seattle. But not as good as that luxury community being self-financed for upper middle class Blacks in Pennsylvania or somewhere, whose success was still up in the air.
[Guardian] Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney has addressed the vexing question of how the US copes with its ageing population, suggesting that retirement benefits may have to be cut for younger Americans.
In comments to the Senate budget committee on Wednesday, the Republican senator from Utah said that the spiraling costs of retirement programs had to be tackled to bring national debt under control. Romney raised the politically controversial idea of cutting benefits, but only for younger generations before they reach retirement age.
"For younger people coming along, we got to be able to find a way to balance these programs or we’re gonna find ourselves in a heap of trouble," he said. He added that he was not in favour of raising taxes as a way of balancing the books, but was open to adjusting "long-term benefits not for current retirees".
Romney’s remarks, first reported by Business Insider, open a can of worms often avoided by members of Congress given its intense political sensitivities. The programs in question include two of the most popular benefits in the country — social security and Medicare, which make up more than 40% of government spending.
The backdrop to the issue is America’s ageing population. By 2034 projections suggest there will be 77 million Americans aged 65 and older — more than the projected 76.5 million under 18s.
That means that for the first time in US history older people will outnumber children.
That same year, 2034, the trust fund for social security is expected to run out, leaving the US government struggling to make full benefit payments. That looming deadline is a reflection of the intense and rising pressure on social security and Medicare given long-term funding shortfalls.
Conservatives have consistently tried to chip away at the programs. Most recently, House Republicans proposed raising the eligibility age for Medicare from 65 to 69 and social security from 67 to 69.
But in his Build Back Better plan, Joe Biden sought to protect and even extend the programs, adding hearing coverage to Medicare. The bill passed the House but was stalled in the US Senate.
Quoting part of the informative article. " Congressional members are eligible for their own unique pension plans under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), though there are other retirement benefits available, ranging from Social Security and the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS). Currently, members of Congress are eligible for a pension dependent on the member's age at retirement, length of service, and salary. The pension value can be up to 80% of the member's final salary. Since 2009 Congressional pay has been $174,000 per year, which, at an 80% rate, equates to a lifelong pension benefit of $139,200. All benefits are taxpayer-funded.
...
Because members of Congress earn far more than the average American citizen, their initial Social Security benefits average just under $26,000 per year compared to $17,652 for the average retired worker in 2019."

[DW] Federal prosecutors have charged a former Bundeswehr reserve officer with passing on information to Russian intelligence agents, including documents related to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline between Russia and Germany.
Germany's federal prosecutor's office has charged a former military reservist on suspicion of spying for Russian intelligence.
The indictment named the man as Ralph G., in line with Germany's privacy laws, and said he had been in contact with Russian agents from October 2014 until March 2020.
"The accused is sufficiently suspected of having worked for a foreign intelligence service against the Federal Republic of Germany and against a NATO state party," it said.

[France24] France's military intelligence chief is leaving his post after Paris failed to accurately predict in contrast to other Western allies that Russia would launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, several sources with knowledge of his exit said.
General Eric Vidaud, who has led the Direction of Military Intelligence (DRM) since only last summer, is to immediately step down from his post, a military source, who asked not to be named, told AFP.
The source confirmed a report on the l'Opinion website citing an internal defence ministry investigation that criticised "insufficient briefings" and "failure to master the issues."
Another source told AFP that there had been rumours within the army concerning the departure of the general in recent days, with it possible that another post could have been offered to him, though in the end this was not the case.
In the months before the invasion of Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, France's assessments had contrasted with the gloomy predictions by allies including the US and Britain who warned a major military assault was imminent.
Senior figures from President Emmanuel Macron's government insisted there was no suggestion of a full-scale invasion and Macron kept diplomacy going to the last minute, meeting Putin in person in the Kremlin and trying to set up a summit with US President Joe Biden.

[Dawn] The United States has ’clearly distanced’ itself from Pakistain, former US military chief Mike Mullen said as the White House and the State Department publicly reject claims of their involvement in Pakistain’s domestic politics.
"It is difficult, difficult to say," said Admiral Mullen when asked to describe Washington’s relations with Pakistain, which was once a close US ally in the war against terror and during the cold war.
"I think we have clearly distanced ourselves from Pakistain over the last decade and Pakistain has more and more fallen under the umbrella of China," he told VOA Urdu Service in Washington this week.
He recalled that as the US army chief he had told a congressional hearing that Pak intelligence agencies were active in Afghanistan "and I still believe ... that connectivity is there. It sort of cuts both ways."
Admiral Mullen, who was chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff from October 2007 to September 2011, was also named in the so-called Memogate controversy, which revolved around a memorandum, ostensibly seeking US support for preventing a feared military takeover in Pakistain that never happened.
He noted that China was not only Pakistain’s neighbour but it "has been supportive of Pakistain" as well.
This closeness, he said, "suits China’s global ambition" because Beijing would prefer to have a neighbor "closer to them and not close to the US".
For these reasons, the US-Pakistain relationship "is going to... be tense for quite some time," he added.
Asked if he believed Pakistain helped the Taliban ...Arabic for students... take over Kabul in August last year, Admiral Mullen said: "They did not do much to stop it for sure."
He recalled that as the US army chief he had told a congressional hearing that Pak intelligence agencies were active in Afghanistan "and I still believe ... that connectivity is there. It sort of cuts both ways."
The former US military chief reiterated a complaint that’s often heard in Washington that Pakistain "played on both sides (the US and the Taliban)" in Afghanistan.
On Thursday afternoon, the White House and the US State Department publicly addressed Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer... ’s claim that foreign powers were supporting the attempt to unseat him.
During a regular press briefing, White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield, however, rejected this claim as incorrect.
"Absolutely no truth to that allegation," she said, responding to a question.
At the State Department, spokesperson Ned Price also responded to a question about the alleged US involvement in Pakistain’s domestic politics.
"We are closely following developments in Pakistain, we respect and support Pakistain’s constitutional process and rule of law," Mr Price said. "However, a hangover is the wrath of grapes... when it comes to that allegation, there is no truth to it."
[DW] A group of children was playing in a field in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... when two bombs went off. In a separate incident in southern Afghanistan, at least five children were killed when they found an unwent kaboom! shell.
Several children were killed in Afghanistan on Friday in two separate incidents in the city of Herat and in the southern Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province.
While the earth-shattering kaboom in Helmand appeared to have been an accident, Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... officials in Herat said they believed bombs that went off at a playing field had been recently planted.
WHAT HAPPENED IN HERAT?
In the western city of Herat, a group of children and young men who came to a field to play were hit when two bombs went off in quick succession.
Five people were killed in the blast and at least 20 others were maimed, according to Taliban-appointed provincial officials.
The field is used for traditional Afghan games including mud wrestling and a horse-mounted game called Buzkashi.
The playing area was deemed safe after it had recently been demined to remove unwent kaboom! ordinance, Sabit Harwi, the Taliban-appointed front man for the intelligence office in Herat told the AFP news agency.
The bombs that went off appear to have been planted in the area shortly before the group came to play, he said. Local police defused two other bombs found in the area after Friday's deadly blasts.
No group immediately grabbed credit for the kabooms in Herat.
WHAT HAPPENED IN HELMAND?
In a separate incident earlier on Friday, a group of children was killed in the southern province of Helmand when they came across an unwent kaboom! mortar shell that suddenly detonated.
The children, who were aged between 3- and 12-years-old, discovered the shell in the district of Marja and were playing with it when it went off, a Taliban media officer told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.
Two other children were maimed in the blast and are being treated in a local hospital.
A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR CHILDREN
The two incidents highlighted the dangerous situation facing children in Afghanistan.
Since seizing control of Afghanistan in August last year, the hardline Islamist Taliban have been facing attacks by the regional chapter of the bad boy "Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... " (IS) group.
While Afghan society facing a rising economic crisis since the Taliban takeover, many children try to gather scrap metal to sell and support their families.
Due to the decades of conflict that have plagued Afghanistan, children can sometimes come across unwent kaboom! ordnance — which results in severe injury or death.

[ZERO] An ominous sign about today's high inflation environment, and quite clearly the Federal Reserve is behind the hiking curve, is a contact close with the Fed complaining about out-of-control golf membership prices.
Yes, you heard that correctly. Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia President Patrick Harker's speech cited "one of our contacts," presumably a Wall Street banker or corporate elite, complained about the "whopping membership fee increases at his golf club."
Harker said the contact even "suggested it may be a good time to play at your local muni instead" of a private course.
As Matt Taibbi of TK News notes,
"I know I’m a little out of practice, because just as I was about to begin speaking, I made sure my mute button wasn’t on," he cracked. "In all seriousness..."
Shifting to a graver theme, he mentioned the old saw about being cursed to live in "interesting times." The novel coronavirus, he said, "has tragically killed at least 6 million people globally and around 1 million here in the United States," adding, "That’s the equivalent of a city larger than San Francisco or Seattle." Russia has also invaded Ukraine, he said, "fomenting death and destruction and spurring a humanitarian crisis in the heart of Europe."
Next in this parade of calamities: the scourge of inflation, a problem so serious that it touched him and his colleagues personally.
"One of our contacts, for instance, mentioned whopping membership fee increases at his golf club," Harker said, "suggesting this summer may be a good time to play at your local muni instead."
[PJ] During her confirmation hearings, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s despicable record on sentencing child porn offenders became a key issue. Republicans pointed out that she had a pattern of giving these perverts lenient sentences, while Democrats made excuses for her and kept gushing over her status as a black woman.
Although, since they’re not biologists, I’m not sure how they know she is, in fact, a woman.
We knew her record was terrible during the hearings, but her record is even worse than we thought.
"Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has a record of handing down dramatically lower sentences in criminal cases, but especially lower sentences in cases involving child pornography," explains Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who released a comprehensive analysis of her record. According to that analysis, Jackson gave sentences nearly 60% shorter than the national average for possession of child porn and nearly 50% shorter for distributors of child porn.
Cruz’s analysis found that in every child pornography case that Judge Jackson heard, she sentenced the defendant below the sentencing guidelines and at or below the recommendation from the prosecutor.

[Washington Examiner] The newest Democratic selection for the Afghanistan War Commission is an MSNBC pundit who was among dozens of former intelligence officials who signed a letter in October 2020 claiming without evidence that the Hunter Biden laptop story was part of a Russian operation.
The Democratic chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Washington Rep. Adam Smith, announced he had picked Jeremy Bash for the Afghanistan investigation Friday, with the biography for Bash noting he served as chief of staff at the Pentagon and chief of staff at the CIA during the Obama administration. Former CIA Director Leon Panetta, for whom Bash worked, also signed the letter.
Bash’s LinkedIn lists himself as the founder of Beacon Global Strategies and as a national security analyst at NBC News and MSNBC.
Despite offering no proof, Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, along with many in the media, dismissed the laptop story as being a Russian disinformation operation. After the New York Post published emails belonging to his son, Joe Biden called the story "garbage" and part of a "Russian plan" during an October 2020 debate with then-President Donald Trump.
Joe Biden was referring to a Politico report about the letter in an article titled "Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say." The title was misleading because the letter never directly called it Russian "disinformation."
Bash himself strongly suggested it was "disinformation" on TV, however.

[Breitbart] Appearing Thursday on NBC News, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) called for the United States government to create a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which some longtime crypto proponents warn could be used to surveil citizens.
A transcript is as follows:
CHUCK TODD: Are you there [on creating a Central Bank Digital Currency]?
SEN. ELIZABETH WARREN: Oh, for a Central Bank Digital Currency? Yes. I think it’s time for us to move in that direction.
TODD: Whenever you look at every piece of paper currency we issue, not with coins, but paper, has its own identity. So essentially, we’re prepared for the blockchain now. Should that be how we build this?
SEN. WARREN: I think of it was what’s the problem we’re trying to solve and if the problem you’re trying to solve is fast, almost frictionless ability to send money across country and the world, a Central Bank Digital Currency does that. You don’t need a stablecoin for that.

Gold, which was selling for about $1,928.00 per troy oz at COB yesterday.
If the USA went back to a Gold Standard?
The US dollar would be backed by only about $504.1 +/- Billion in Gold Reserves.
Notes:
DC has a purposed Federal budget of about 10 times that for 2023.
DC has run up a national debt of about 60 times our Gold worth and 5 times the annual collected tax revenues.

Why does this site keep linking to a shitty UK tabloid rag known for telling lies?
"Why are you linking to X?" is a common complaint with new 'visitors'. Don't think of a source as news, think of it as data. Data needs to be filtered and cleaned and processed before it is usable. A compass that points 90 degrees to the left is still useful as long as you are aware of the skew. Sometimes, just knowing the Message of the Day is information.

Your colleague is correct, although we also pay attention to interesting local situations like the current excitements in the Ukraine. Please pass along our thanks for the recommendation.
The Daily Mail is as reputable as the National Inquirer or Alex Jones.
On some subjects, yes, much like the New York Times, et al. But if you check the curated Daily Mail articles posted here, you’ll notice that in almost all cases the DM links to one or more published articles from sources local to the events being reported, so with a few minutes’ work you can decide for yourself the trustworthiness of the information they present.
Did the site get a new owner?
No.
Why is it linking to tabloid garbage?
To the educated mind, even bad data is useful if it reveals something about the actors or the situation. Good data, of course, is even better for this, and it must be remembered that the site owner is a professional military intelligence analyst, fully aware of the sources and methods pertaining to the information we present here.

Hey - the National Enquirer (of Batboy) fame) broke the 'John Edwards' story the other media refused to report.
"Consider the Source"
As for the Daily Mail - as long as you know its slanted you can use its information - just adjust your bullshit filters accordingly - and change them more often.
I also read gab - which is very open. Some of the things posted there are pretty wacky - again adjust your BS filter to match. I like gab because it is open and I can see everything - yes even the messy, disgusting, and wierdo stuff. *I* choose what I believe or not - not some executive or fact finder.

Even the most reputable U.K. publications are crawling with MI6 agents (usually masquerading as the papers' foreign correspondents).
The tabloids however are a complete joke. Both MI5 and MI6 routinely use them to spin, plant stories, demonise opponents and do character assassination, whip up support for wars.

Probably not prudent to discount Open Source or Info Ops, or those who follow such publications. Yes, this new class of troll here is quite amusing. Their posts come across like Rantburg secretly controls the government and can make them do what we want. It's also clear they don't wander off their assigned topics much to realize how MUCH there is to learn here from the articles and the comments. "Public service is a calling, and I would be honored to represent the men and women of Alaska in Congress, just as Rep. Young did for 49 years. I realize that I have very big shoes to fill, and I plan to honor Rep. Young’s legacy by offering myself up in the name of service to the state he loved and fought for because I share that passion for Alaska and the United States of America."
Palin, 58, joined the race for a planned special House election just before the filing deadline closed. There are 40 other applicants in the race.
Goodness — an enthusiastic crowd.
Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy has set the special election’s primary for June 11 and the general election for Aug. 16.
In the statement, she said, "America is at a tipping point. As I’ve watched the far Left destroy the country, I knew I had to step up and join the fight. The people of the great state of Alaska, like others all over the country, are struggling with out-of-control inflation, empty shelves, and gas prices that are among the highest in the world. We need energy security for this country, and Alaska can help provide that — but only if the federal government gets out of the way and lets the free market do what it does best.”

The left's visceral hatred of poor whites overflowed like a broken sewer when John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate in 2008. It would be impossible, and disturbing, to attempt to identify the single most offensive comment that leftists lobbed at Palin. One can report that attacks on Palin were so egregious that leftists themselves publicly begged that they cease; after all, they gave the left a bad name. The Reclusive Leftist blogged in 2009 that it was a "major shock" to discover "the extent to which so many self-described liberals actually despise working people." The Reclusive Leftist focuses on Vanity Fair journalist Henry Rollins. Rollins recommends that leftists "hate-fuck conservative women" and denounces Palin as a "small town hickoid" who can be bought off with a coupon to a meal at a chain restaurant.
>This past weekend, I went to Lollapalooza in Chicago. I wore my new shirt, which in big letters, states "Sarah Palin is A Cunt." I knew in this extremely liberal city, the hometown of Barack Obama, that I would not get lynched, but I wasn't expecting so many compliments. Literally over 100 people complimented me on my shirt, from "I love your shirt" to "I love your shirt."
[Foxnews] Border agents found several migrants with criminal histories in a span of several days
Several migrants attempting to enter the United States illegally through Texas this week were found to have long criminal histories, including one wanted for a homicide in his home country and another with a conviction for raping a child, authorities said Friday.
The most recent encounter between migrants and agents with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Rio Grande Valley Sector occurred Friday when two groups were apprehended near the border city of McAllen. Among one group was a gang member from Mexico with a criminal history of child cruelty for which he was sentenced to two years in prison. A Honduran citizen in the other group has an arrest for a homicide in his country, a CBP statement said.
The agents made multiple arrests beginning on March 28 when a Mexican citizen was taken into custody while trying to allegedly smuggle marijuana. While doing a background check, agents learned he was previously arrested in 2019 by the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office for an alleged murder attempt.
He was convicted and sentenced to two years of confinement and deported.
Later that afternoon, agents with the Kingsville Border Patrol Station apprehended 67 migrants being smuggled in a tractor-trailer at a border checkpoint. A Salvadoran citizen among the group admitted to being an MS-13 gang member who was previously deported from the United States in 2018.
The next day, another group of 35 migrants was taken into custody. A 24-year-old Salvadoran man revealed he was wanted for a murder in El Salvador, authorities said.
On Wednesday, a Mexican citizen identified as Edward Gonzalez was among a group of ten migrants apprehended. He received an 11-year prison sentence in Indiana for rape and was deported.
Several encounters between border agents and migrants occurred on Thursday as well.
They encountered a Honduran gang member with a conviction for assault causing bodily harm to a family member in Fort Worth, Texas in 2008. He was also sentenced to one year after being in the U.S. following multiple deportations.
Later that morning, a Mexican national was found among a group of 16 migrants. He was sentenced in 2014 to 14 months confinement for the rape of a child and 36 months in 2012 for viewing depictions of a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct, authorities said.
Border agents nabbed MS-13 gang members and others with long criminal histories in Texas' Rio Grande Valley within a span of several days, this week, authorities said Friday.
That same day, agents processing migrants discovered one was a gang member in El Salvador.
The arrests come as immigration hawks presser the Biden administration to address the surge of migrants at the southern border. On Friday, the administration announced it will terminate end Title 42, a Trump-era health order that allows for the expulsion of migrants at the border that was implemented due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Just saying...
Wouldn't opening the borders to anyone including MURDERS, DRUG CARTELS and RAPISTS be a logical preliminary step in selling the voters on a FEDERALIZED POLICE FORCE. Which naturally would be controlled in Washington DC.
You know, something reminiscent of another National Socialist Police Force ( Gestapo )

I thought, from the current lenient on pervs SCROTUS nominee to the entertainment industry elites screeching about Florida's anti-grooming law that the message is that future (if the sick left gets its way) belongs to the rapists and so on.

[Rudaw] Suspected Ottoman Turkish drone targeted a van in Hasaka province, northeast Syria (Rojava) on Friday, killing one and injuring two others, according to Kurdish forces which later confirmed that the vehicle belonged to them.
"Ottoman Turkish drone targeted a civilian car on Tirbespiye city road, which injured two people and martyred another. The crimes by Ottoman Turkish drones in northeast Syria [are committed] before the eyes of the global coalition and in Russian presence," Siyamend Ali, head of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) media office, said in a tweet.
Tirbespiye (al-Qahtaniyah) is located in Hasaka province.
Internal Security Forces (Asayish) confirmed the news and casualties, saying the incident took place in Hasuda village near Tirbespiye.
Farhad Shami, Head of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) media center, said the vehicle belonged to "Self-Defense Forces" which are affiliated to the SDF.
"As a result of this attack, our comrade Dirar Juma Hamza was martyred and two of our comrades were maimed, including the well-known poet Ferhad Merdê," he added.
Relatives had confirmed Merde's injury to Rudaw earlier in the day.
The Ottoman Turkish defence ministry said in a tweet that their forces "neutralised" two YPG fighters in Rojava, claiming that they were making preparations to attack Ottoman Turkish forces "with support vehicles." However, there's more than one way to skin a cat... the ministry did not elaborate where exactly the incident took place. Ottoman Turkish officials use the term "neutralise" to imply surrenders, killings or capturing.
It is not clear if the ministry refers to the same drone attack reported by the YPG or not.
Rojava Information Center (RIC), local monitor group, said on Friday that Ottoman Turkish drones have hit six vehicles in Rojava in 2022. "At least 3 people, including 2 children, were killed. Overall, 22 dronezaps were conducted on NES."
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... regularly bombards Kurdish forces in Rojava for their alleged link with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) - Kurdish gang which has fought the Ottoman Turkish army for decades.
[AnNahar] Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...In 2020 Hezbollah blew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial... 's electricity company is charging $16 million to supply power on the day of the May 15 parliamentary polls, a sum that exceeds the overall election budget by nearly 30 percent, the interior minister said.
Holding credible elections is one of the main steps Lebanon's major donors are insisting on to deliver more assistance to the country, which is mired in a deep financial crisis fuelled by endemic corruption.
The state-owned Electricite du Liban (EDL) presented a quote of $16 million to the government, which is trying to provide just half a day's worth of power to polling stations for the critical vote.
"I held several meetings with EDL, which apparently couldn't provide electricity except at a very high cost," Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi said.
"The entire elections, at home and abroad, don't cost this much," Mawlawi said, saying his total budget for the vote was capped at $12.5 million.
Mawlawi was adamant the government was working for the polls to go ahead as scheduled, despite persistent rumors they could be called off.
Lebanon, grappling with an unprecedented economic crisis since 2019, and which defaulted on its debt in March 2020, has suffered from severe power shortages for nearly a year -- largely because the government can't afford fuel for power stations.
Power cuts last up to 22 hours a day in most regions, forcing many to rely on expensive generator subscriptions to keep the lights on.
The international community has long demanded a complete overhaul of Lebanon's loss-making electricity sector -- which has cost the government more than $40 billion since the end of the 1975-1990 civil war -- as one of the basic conditions to disburse billions of dollars in desperately needed financial support.
EDL had asked for its payment in cash, Mawlawi said.
- 'CAN'T RELY ON THE STATE' -
Mawlawi said the government may turn to private generators to power voting centers, which will need electricity to light the room at night when the votes are counted immediately after polls close.
"I can't rely on the state because despite the high cost demanded, EDL can't guarantee solid results... which may lead to a sudden blackout," the interior minister said.
"The issue of electricity is the biggest problem facing Lebanon... but we will be able to solve it for the day of elections," he added.
Lebanon's energy crisis is just one of its many economic woes, with the currency having lost more than 90 percent of its value.
Most of Lebanon's population lives below the poverty line.
Power outages mean streets are dark at night and surveillance cameras are effectively obsolete, leading to a spike in certain types of crime, Mawlawi said, who cited deepening poverty as another driving force.
Interior ministry figures show armed robberies surged by 135 percent in 2021 compared with the previous year, and car theft increased by nearly a quarter over the same period.
At the same time, Lebanon's security forces have been weakened because officers have quit to look for other work, since their salary barely covers enough to buy basic food for a family.
At least 478 security officers working for Internal Security Forces or the General Security Agency have quit ranks since the start of the country's crisis, documents provided by the ministry showed.
"There is a problem," Mawlawi told AFP.
But "the number of those defecting is not large. We should not exaggerate the problem," he added.

Well, it's all part of the plan. Rolling blackouts will let them decide which voting districts get to vote and will allow undesirable voting results to be "lost" when power goes out "unexpectedly."

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.
A map is at the link
[ColonelCassad] There were shots with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Borodianka. Apparently, the withdrawal of troops from Kyiv is indeed carried out in the direction of the border with Belarus, from where troops are being transferred near Kharkov and Izyum before the upcoming operation against the main grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass.
What can be said about this withdrawal of troops from Kyiv.
If the upcoming operation on the Left Bank ends with the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then everyone will talk about the well-thought-out plan of the General Staff.
Indeed, according to official statements, a throw near Kyiv was needed to tie down forces at the first stage, and the assault on Kyiv was not planned. Now they have announced that the goal of the 2nd stage (according to Shoigu) is to defeat the main forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass.
Well, if they are now defeated (that is, those red arrows to the Donetsk-Pavlograd highway that I showed back in the first half of March are filled with content), then everything will really look like a clear adherence to the plan.
But if the task of defeating the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Left Bank fails to be solved, then it will hardly be possible to say that everything is going according to plan.
So it remains to wait for the start of the operation and look at the implementation of the goals that the General Staff has outlined. I believe we will get answers to all questions in the next month.

I've heard that Putin and his top yes men are hiding in the bunkers. Could he be planning a tactical nuke on Kiev (Yes...this is how I spell and pronounce it) and is just moving his troops out of harm's way?

Or the Russians are on Plan (C). Plan (A) was cross the border, shout "Nazi!" three times and take over when the Ukrainian Oligarchs fled the country; Plan(B) was(is?) encircle Kiev and starve it into surrendering; and Plan (C) is reinforce the other columns and carve Ukraine into chunks leaving Kiev to 'wither on the vine'?
[NYPOST] Ukraine was accused of bombing a huge oil depot in Russia on Friday, the first reported Dire RevengeArclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on enemy soil after suffering almost constant bombardment during 37 days of war.
Videos showed a flurry of rockets piercing the night sky in Belgorod at around 6 a.m. — and then a huge fire raging at the storage depot in the Russian city about 21 miles from Ukraine’s border.
"The fire at the oil depot occurred as a result of an airstrike from two helicopters of the armed forces of Ukraine, which entered the territory of Russia at a low altitude," Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram.
Ukraine did not immediately acknowledge the accusation — which the Kremlin warned could hamper peace talks between the nations, which were due to continue Friday.
"Of course, this is not something that can be perceived as creating comfortable conditions for the continuation of negotiations," Kremlin front man Dmitry Peskov told news hounds, according to Agence La Belle France-Presse.
Gov. Gladkov initially said two employees had been hurt, but in an update said that "there are no victims." Russian energy giant Rosneft, which owns the facility, also said there had been no injuries.
All workers were quickly evacuated and at least 170 emergency workers were tackling the blaze, the company and local officials said.
Locals in Belgorod quickly rushed to gas stations, forming huge lines, the regional governor said, while insisting that "there are no problems with fuel in the region and never will be."
Russia has reported shelling from Ukraine before, including an incident last week that killed a military chaplain, but not an incursion of its airspace.
Ukrainian authorities did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The strike came after Ukraine’s defense ministry posted a social media video pretending to announce Oscars-style awards for its military successes.
Best picture was given to video of Russia’s blown-up warship the Orsk as it brought military supplies to battle, while best cinematography was for "a kiss from Stinger," with footage of a Russian helicopter being downed.
The alleged airstrike Friday also came as Ukraine claimed that Russian troops had been forced to leave the heavily contaminated Chernobyl nuclear site.
Ukraine’s state power company, Energoatom, said the pullout at Chernobyl came after soldiers received "significant doses" of radiation from digging trenches in the forest in the exclusion zone around the closed plant. The ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency said it could not independently confirm the exposure claim.
Ukrainian forces also retook Sloboda and Lukashivka, two villages along a main supply route between the besieged northern city of Chernihiv and capital Kyiv, according to Britannia’s Defense Ministry.

She thinks she's an oppressed class, but she's an elite who sneers at the rest of America. That's why she's freaking out - it's been pointed out to her, she doesn't like it, and suddenly she's pretending she's the part of Hollywood that works on sets and operates equipment. She couldn't be further from them.
Keep hitting these people with the "elite" label. It's working.

The Diplomad had a term for U.N. people who would swoop in at the end of a crisis, push everyone else aside, and start taking credit, skimming off the charity, (and abusing whatever the crisis was). I believe he called them the 'Vampire Vulture Elite' which pretty much matched them.
We need a similar label for Hollywood Elites like Whoopie. 'Fabulous Phoney Elite'?

Now, now. Even Disney wouldn't keep Whoopi's show on the air if it wasn't getting the ratings. The sad fact is that millions of soft headed, gullible women tune in to this poison every weekday morning. No, it can't be very hard work for her but, yes, she does the work. She'd fail miserably if she had to wait tables or clean hotel rooms. No way could she stay on her feet long enough to work as a clerk in a department store. She might be able to hack a gig in an HR department. But what she does best is to run her mouth and say the things that Disney wants her to say.

...Whoopi - may I call you Whoopi? Thank you so much.
Here's the thing: I actually understand that acting at your level can be a tough, mentally and physically demanding thing.
For a month or two. At most, and you spend a lot of that time in a makeup chair, or trailer, or standing around waiting for someone else to do something.
I'm 62 years old. I've already retired once, I have Type I Diabetes, I've had a heart attack, and my wife is 17 years younger than I am. Yet somehow, my backside gets up five days a week at 0415 and gets into work where I walk/run a mile or two a day until 1630. Unless of course, some utterly clueless customer/driver wanders in at 1629, in which case I get to hold their hand until they figure things out.
The point I'm trying to make here is that - frankly - you don't work that hard. It was great seeing you for about five minutes on ST:Picard, but that could not have possibly been more than a few hours work for you, and I no doubt assume you got a handsome paycheck for playing a beloved character for those few hours.
I work a minimum fifty hours a week, and will until I retire on February 16, 2027. Working past that is becoming increasingly unlikely as my physical condition gets more and more worn.
You on the other hand can work one day a week and make more than I do in ten years, much less anything else.
Keep that in mind, Ma'am.
Best Regards,
Mike

I really don't care what anyone from Hollywood says. They aren't any smarter than average. They are good at repeating words that someone else wrote, and faking emotions when told to. In some cases they are better looking than average (Whoopi is an exception.)

[FoxNews] Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed on Thursday the suggestion of repealing a 55-year-old state law that allows Disney to effectively govern itself on the grounds of Walt Disney World, following the company’s public opposition to a controversial parental rights law in Florida.
"What I would say as a matter of first principle is I don’t support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power," DeSantis said during a press conference in West Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday.
Disney has been engaged in a war of words with Republicans in Florida leading up to Monday’s signing of the controversial bill, which prohibits classroom instruction on "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" with children in third grade or younger "or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards."
DeSantis referenced a bill reining in big tech that Republicans were working through the legislature last year when Disney added a "carve out" at the "11th hour" for theme parks.
"I’m thinking to myself, ‘This is ridiculous,’" DeSantis said. "Honestly, it was embarrassing."
DeSantis continued, "I think what has happened is there’s a lot of these special privileges that are not justifiable, but because Disney had held so much sway, they were able to sustain a lot of special treatment over the years."
DeSantis said that Disney has "lost a lot of the pull that they used to have" over the company's reaction to the parental rights law and said he thinks that’s a "good thing for our state because the state should be governed by the best interest of the people."
"I would say any special privileges that are in law I would like to get rid of generally," DeSantis added. "I think in this particular case with Disney, I just don’t think you have very many people in the legislature anymore who are going to be able to defend a lot of what has been done over many years to really have them almost govern themselves in some of these things. That was probably never appropriate to start, but is certainly not appropriate now at this point." Disney

Just watched a Sportsball game.
One of the advertisers promote an adventure show which is in the Anime style. Vox Machina.
Sexual Fetishes, gay innuendo, a line about cumming in a dead person. That is the lead for joining 'a large forest' named place.
Disgusting. I found the show entertaining but what the hell?! Kids are watching this Sportsball.
President Biden said something similar to President Putin shortly before the current excitement over there....
[IsraelTimes] US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides says Israel won’t be faced with any US restrictions if it wishes to act against Iran, whether or not a nuclear deal is signed between Tehran and world powers.
“The president… will do whatever he can do to make sure that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon… It’s clear we’d like to do it through a diplomatic channel,” Nides tells Channel 12 news.
Regarding the progress of the negotiations on a deal, he says: “The Israelis know very clearly exactly what is going on. I’m not suggesting they necessarily like it always, but there are no secrets here.”
He dodges a direct question on whether Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will be delisted, as he also does in a Channel 13 interview.
Channel 12 asks Nides if the US expects Israel to “sit quietly and not do anything” if a deal is signed.
“Absolutely not. We’ve been very clear about this,” Nides says. “If we have a deal, the Israelis’ hands are not tied. If we don’t have a deal, the Israelis’ hands are certainly not tied.”
“Israel can do and take whatever actions they need to take to protect the state of Israel,” he adds.
Asked about Israel’s efforts to tackle terrorism, Nides says: “We’re not going to tell the government what to do.”
On Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s highlighting of settler violence and settlement expansion during his recent visit, as opposed to Palestinian terrorism, Nides says: “No one likes violence. Period. It doesn’t matter if it’s settler violence, you know, Palestinian violence…”
He says he made clear, in his own confirmation testimony, that the Palestinian Authority’s payments to terrorists and their families must be halted: “Martyr payments… must stop,” he says.
He stresses US support for the two-state solution:, noting: “We can’t lose the vision… (though) we can’t impose anything on anyone.”
Regarding Israel’s policies on Ukraine, Nides says, “We’re very comfortable with what the Israelis are doing vis a vis Ukraine. And as for any mediator role that they can play, we welcome that.”
Reminded that senior State Department official Victoria Nuland warned against Israel being the “last haven” for Vladimir Putin’s dirty money, Nides says: “When we have issues, we express them, as Israel expresses them to us…. I am very comfortable today on the relationship, with what they’re doing with Ukraine.”
[NYPOST] A 12-year-old student was shot and killed Thursday by another 12-year-old student inside their South Carolina middle school, authorities said. The shooter was found hiding under a deck at a home not far from Tanglewood Middle School in Greenville about an hour after the shooting and was still armed, Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis said.
The boy is charged with murder, possession of a firearm at a school and possession of a weapon by someone under 18. He was taken to a juvenile prison in Columbia, Lewis said.
"He was hiding. He’s a young man, probably didn’t understand the consequences of what had just happened," the sheriff said at a news conference. "I don’t think he knew what to do, honestly, except for to leave the school." Oh, I think he probably knew exactly the consequences. That's why he was hiding
The boys knew each other, but the sheriff said Sherlocks are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting in a front part of the school and how the boy got the gun.
No one else was injured in the shooting.
The family of the boy killed released a statement saying he was Jamari Cortez Bonaparte Jackson and asking people to respect their privacy as they grieve.
A school resource officer requested emergency backup just before 12:30 p.m., when deputies said a 12-year-old student was shot. Jamari Cortez Bonaparte Jackson was transported to the hospital.
It was sadly another BOB kid killing... Neither even Teenagers yet.
But IF this wasn't an "accidental" shooting, then the questions become:
Where did a 12 y/o shooter learn and acquire such a temperament?
Was it a Home/parent-related, social, environmental, TV/Movie taught, or was it a kid mentally programmed after playing too much shoot'em up Combat video games?

...one of the Soros stable of criminal-protecting DAs. Soros prosecutors refuse to enforce laws against shoplifting, drug trafficking, and entire categories of felonies and misdemeanors. LA DA Gascon even stopped enforcing laws against disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and making criminal threats, which eventually annoyed many of the law-abiding portion of the residents...
said they have gained momentum after collecting more than 200,000 signatures— with plenty of time to still hit their goal to get on the November ballot.
Campaign officials said they also have raised more than $4 million — already four times the money raised compared to last year’s recall efforts, which fizzled in September after failing to secure less than half of the approximately 500,000 signatures needed from LA County voters.
"We are continuing to deploy our resources, and we are definitely going in the right trajectory," recall spokesperson Tim Lineberger told The Post. "There is just a lot more support this time around since people are more aware that what’s been happening in Los Angeles County, especially crime increasing, is tied to George Gascón’s policies."
While last year’s campaign garnered just 200,000 votes by the October 2021 deadline, the campaign this year has already collected more votes with still three months left before the deadline.
To get on the ballot, a total of 566,857 signatures — 10 percent of total Los Angeles County registered voters
...yes, but how many of LA’s registered voters are living, legal, and unduplicated? There has been some clean up of California’s voter roles, but there’s also been plenty of time to sign up new duplicate imaginary-Americans.
— must be submitted to the LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office by July 6.

After midnight Thursday-Friday, the Ottoman Turkish police arrested a Syrian media activist near the Ottoman Turkish city of Gaziantep.
Media activist Hassan al-Mukhtar posted on his Facebook page "I am detained at a Ottoman Turkish police checkpoint near Gaziantep, despite having a travel and work permit."
"Now they are taking me to an unknown place under psychological pressure," he added.
This morning, al-Mukhtar posted another post on his page, in which he confirmed that he is still arrested in a place similar to the cop shoppe in Gaziantep.
The activist indicated that he is being treated in a very inhumane and bad manner, and that the reason for the arrest is the suspension of his temporary protection card (Kimlik).
He posted that he slept on the floor last night, and the coppers refused to give him any blankets, in addition to the officers pressuring him and insulting him with intimidating words.
Al-Mukhtar pointed out that the police were allowing him to use his mobile phone, which had almost run out of charge.
Recently, the General Directorate of Migration in the capital, Ankara, informed thousands of Syrians residing in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and who hold the Kimlik that their restrictions have been completely stopped and that their temporary protection has been canceled, fears of deportation to Syrian territory have increased.

You won the election, Mr. Mayor. Now you own all the problems.
[NYPOST] All too predictably, the Legal Aid Society is attacking the NYPD’s renewed "quality of life" policing.
The direly needed shift targets such violations as selling pot, dice games, public drinking and urination, criminal trespass, fare evasion and other acts that Commissioner Keechant Sewell all too rightly calls "precursors for violence."
Cue a Legal Aid Society study purporting to show that the effort will be racially discriminatory. It uses 2021 data indicating that the vast majority of those arrested for such offenses were black and Hispanic, and so provided fodder for the usual suspects on the City Council to assail top police brass.
Guess what word is missing from Legal Aid’s study? Victim.
Yet black New Yorkers, about 24% of the city population, make up the vast majority of serious crime victims: 65% of those murdered in 2020, and 74% of shooting victims.

Question: How much do they think will end up actually helping the Afghan people, after the Taliban leadership gets its hands on it?
[Rudaw] United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... experts said on Friday that the fate of 100 children detained in Hasaka prison in northeast Syria (Rojava) is unknown following a jail break by the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... in January.
ISIS attacked al-Sina’a prison in Hasaka on January 20 with explosive-laden vehicles and other weapons. This led to over a week of intense festivities between ISIS fighters and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Control of the prison was retaken by the SDF with the support of the global coalition against ISIS, with the recaptured prisoners transferred to another prison.
"We are extremely concerned that since the January 2022 attack, the fate and whereabouts of at least 100 of those boys remain unaccounted for which raises serious concerns relating to their right to life," the UN human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. experts said a statement. "Some of these cases might amount to enforced disappearance, and where children are concerned, States — and de facto authorities — must undertake special measures of protection that reflect their vulnerability."
International rights groups, including Save the Children and Human Rights Watch, have previously said 700 boys had been in the Kurdish-run jail in northeastern Hassakeh province before it was attacked by the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group.
Aged 12-18, the detainees included many who had adult relatives inside Ghwayran prison and were transferred from nearby displacement camps housing thousands of children of jihadist fighters.
The independent experts called on the de facto authorities to allow all humanitarian actors to have full and unimpeded access to children still held at Ghwayran.
"Harm to these children must be identified, and those responsible must be held accountable to prevent impunity," the UN experts said.
The IS prison break attempt from Ghwayran triggered a week of festivities inside and around the Kurdish-run facility, leaving hundreds dead, before Kurdish-led forces recaptured the jail.

I was, and remain a member of the US Government's Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine "Trial Program." Advance Directives really are recommended. I believe it was in the smaller print.
I may also soon be a member of the US Government's Capital Gains 401K seizure "Trial Program." Equitable quarterly tax payments for everyone really are the way ahead. If you have no greedy big business investment profits or selfish racist gains you have nothing to be concerned about.

Thing, this is just a trial run. Eventually they will extend it to everyone who "qualifies".

Universal Basic Income (UBI) has been tried in other places usually on a limited basis such as in L.A. Finland tried UBI on a limited basis in 2017 but stopped the program in 2018. A government that can give you everything can also take it away. Give-away programs may provide money for people at the cost of economic slavery for another group of working people.
It is likely the money's made available to taxpayers during COVID 19 got people to thinking about UNI again. One might note that California is not in very good economic shape. The government is too free with other people's money. The accrued debt will enslave future generations.

She's going to MSLSD's streaming property on Peacock network. You'd think the recent news that CNN+, where Chrithhy Wallathe went, is almost underwater already would be a warning sign. Of course, when any media property crashes and burns, the high priced talent gets paid while the drones get cut loose, so she either doesn't know or doesn't care.

[IsraelTimes] ’This is how a terrorist can get from Jenin to Bnei Brak in an hour,’ Englman says, urging Israeli politicians to ’come to their senses’ amid deadly terror wave
Israel’s state ombudsman on Thursday accused authorities of allowing the West Bank security barrier to fall into disrepair, saying that the defensive measure credited with helping staunch the Second Intifada over 15 years earlier was "no longer relevant."
State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman made the comments while visiting a broken section of the barrier near the town of Matan, northwest of Tel Aviv, days after a Paleostinian terrorist, who apparently drove into Israel via a hole in the fence, rubbed out five people in Bnei Brak.

Police responded to a call in a residential neighborhood in Lebanon just after 3:30 p.m. that devolved into a shootout about 50 minutes later, officials said at a presser.
An unnamed 34-year-old male suspect was killed in the shootout along with an officer, whose identity was being withheld until his extended family was notified, police said.
One officer was fighting for his life and another was in stable, pH balanced condition, according to Mayor Sherry Capello.
"Obviously the incident is still under investigation and details will be forthcoming as that investigation concludes," Capello said.
"At this time we are focused on the tragic loss of the officer and the well-being of the other members of our police department. This is an extremely difficult moment for everyone."
