Background Info: Wikipedia Entry on The Hue Massacre
If you want to see "what were they thinking" and "what did they expect to happen" re: the civilian massacres in Ukraine, here's a historical backgrounder. Pay close attention to all the half truths and modified limited hangouts and whatabouts in the second half of the article. It's what you'll see about the current event, especially if Putin manages to eventually win. I'll put up the introduction here, but you really want to follow the link and read the whole thing.
The Huế massacre (Vietnamese: Thảm sát tại Huế Tết Mậu Thân, or Thảm sát Tết Mậu Thân ở Huế, lit. translation: "Tết Offensive massacre in Huế") was the summary executions and mass murder perpetrated by the Viet Cong (VC) and People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) during their capture, military occupation and later withdrawal from the city of Huế during the Tet Offensive, considered one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.

The Battle of Huế began on 31 January 1968, and lasted a total of 26 days. During the months and years that followed, dozens of mass graves were discovered in and around Huế. Victims included women, men, children, and infants.[2] The estimated death toll was between 2,800 and 6,000 civilians and prisoners of war,[1][3] or 5—10% of the total population of Huế.[4] The Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) released a list of 4,062 victims identified as having been either murdered or abducted.[5][6] Victims were found bound, tortured, and sometimes buried alive. Many victims were also clubbed to death.[7][8][9]

A number of U.S. and South Vietnamese authorities as well as a number of journalists who investigated the events took the discoveries, along with other evidence, as proof that a large-scale atrocity had been carried out in and around Huế during its four-week occupation. The killings were perceived as part of a large-scale purge of a whole social stratum, including anyone friendly to American forces in the region. The massacre at Huế came under increasing press scrutiny later, when press reports alleged that South Vietnamese "revenge squads" had also been at work in the aftermath of the battle, searching out and executing citizens that had supported the communist occupation.[10][11] In 2017, Ben Kiernan described the massacre as "possibly the largest atrocity of the war."[12]

China-Japan-Koreas
What Is China Learning from the Ukraine War?
[defenseone.com] From battlefield concepts to geopolitics, Beijing is sure to be watching with avid interest—and some chagrin.

Operation Desert Storm was a turning point in modern Chinese military history. As military planners with the People’s Liberation Army watched U.S. and allied forces make short work of the world’s fourth-largest military (on paper), equipped with many of the same systems as the PLA, it became obvious that China’s quantitatively superior but qualitatively lacking massed infantry would stand no chance against the combination of modern weaponry, C4ISR, and joint operations seen in Iraq. The result was new military concepts and over two decades of often-difficult reforms, which produced the modern, far more capable, "informationized" PLA of today.

Today, the PLA is no doubt closely observing its Russian contemporaries in Ukraine as they under-perform in multiple areas, from failing to take key targets or claim air supremacy to running low on fuel and supplies and possibly experiencing morale collapse, and surely taking away lessons that will shape its own future. Of note, Russia’s experience appears to have confirmed many of China’s recent assumptions behind its investments, such as the utility of unmanned aerial systems in high-intensity conflict, as well as the necessity for the PLA’s 2015 reforms, which aim to fix many of the issues driving Russian failure that the PLA recognizes in itself.

#10  We had people within the CCP since the beginning of the millenium. By 2010 nearly all were re-converted or deep sixed. Today, the effort is merely to make the leadership see the light.

An establishment that does not believe in a lengthy due process or equality or inalienable rights is not something one can take lightly. They kill kill kill moles there, and traitors. Anybody who inconveniences their long game, just disappears.

Besides, there is a huge racial problem with the Chinese. Americans think they know racism? For example, Chinese absolutely detest Americans naivety for giving the black people any rights at all. These people are quintessentially in awe of only the strong, the supremacist, a lot like the Japs although they won't admit it. Demonstrate overwhelming strength and they find a way to fall in line. The problem is, there's a shortage of testicles in the world today. As for who you can buy, the random ideologue the activist, the uighur sasquatch leader, the disgruntled businessman... maybe.

Twitter appoints Elon Musk to board

[WWW-FOXBUSINESS-COM.CDN.AMPPROJECT.ORG] Twitter announced Tuesday it’s appointing Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk to its board, expanding the billionaire’s influence during the ongoing debate over lack of free speech on the platform.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted the announcement Tuesday, writing that "Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board."

"He’s both a passionate believer and intense critic of the service which is exactly what we need on @Twitter, and in the boardroom, to make us stronger in the long-term. Welcome Elon!" he added.

Biden pushes for US mines to ramp up production of EV battery components
[PopSci] On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced that he was issuing a directive to use the Defense Production Act to boost the production and processing of critical minerals and other materials such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and manganese. These are substances needed to make batteries, which can in turn power electric vehicles and store renewable energy. This will also allow for other industries to advance corresponding tools and technologies that will decrease the country's reliance on fossil fuels, the president said in an address to the public.

To accomplish this, Biden directed the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, to fund feasibility studies for new projects, decrease waste at existing sites, and modernize domestic mines so they can amp up production of critical minerals, The New York Times reported.

The president can use the Defense Production Act of 1950 to speedily expand the supply of essential materials and services for domestic industries to promote national defense. Civil transportation and energy are only two of the areas that are covered under this act. The act was originally passed in response to the Korean War by the Truman administration, and was later used during the Cold War. Last year, Biden also used the DPA to bolster the health supply chain for COVID vaccines, testing, and protective equipment.

"Through the DPA, the President can, among other activities, prioritize government contracts for goods and services over competing customers, and offer incentives within the domestic market to enhance the production and supply of critical materials and technologies when necessary for national defense," according to a report from the Congressional Research Service. "The DPA has been amended and reauthorized numerous times since its original enactment."
The Greens have been fighting this for years. What oh what will they do now? Popcorn please.

14 said arrested in Jerusalem over past 3 days for alleged attack plans, incitement
[IsraelTimes] Clashes continue at flashpoint Damascus Gate for third night, eight Paleostinians arrested as Ramadan tensions persist

Security forces arrested 14 East Jerusalem residents in the past three days on suspicion of planning attacks or inciting others to carry out attacks, Channel 12 news reported Monday.

The raids come following a spate of terror attacks in recent weeks. Those arrested all confessed to either planning attacks or inciting others to carry out attacks, Channel 12 said.

The report also said that police believe that they can contain festivities at the Damascus Gate entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City if they continue at the scale of the past two nights.

Despite that, festivities were reported for the third night. Police said eight Paleostinians have been detained during festivities at Damascus Gate as Paleostinians gather to celebrate Ramadan.

Police said the suspects hurled stones and other items at officers. They added that some of the rioters were also involved in unrest on Sunday night too.

"Whoever chooses to disturb the order, riot, and engage in violence of any kind, harms first and foremost the large public of worshipers, merchants, and visitors, the vast majority of whom wished to celebrate Ramadan in peace and security, while maintaining freedom of worship," police said in a statement.

"We will not allow those inciting and violent mostly peaceful margins [of society] to disrupt order. We call on the public to mark the month of Ramadan legally, obey police instructions, and avoid violence and disturbances of any kind," the statement added.

Separately, Channel 12 reported that Paleostinian Authority the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
told senior members of his Fatah movement to help prevent any escalation in tensions.

At least 10 terror attacks foiled in past two weeks, IDF chief says

[IsraelTimes] Military chief Aviv Kohavi said Monday that the Israel Defense Forces had foiled nearly a dozen terror attacks in the past two weeks, amid heightened tensions following several deadly attacks, as well as gunbattles with terror group members in the West Bank.

"At least 10 terror attacks have been prevented in the past two weeks, thanks to intelligence and operations. Even at this moment, we are focused on thwarting further attacks," Kohavi said at an Air Force ceremony.

"This is the IDF’s main mission at the moment. We will act wherever, as required, and using all methods to stop terrorism," he added.

There were no details about the thwarted attacks. Israeli security forces often keep operations under wraps for months, only occasionally publicizing details when suspects are charged.

More than 150 still missing after Nigeria train attack
[AlAhram] One week after button men attacked a train with explosives in northwestern Nigeria, the whereabouts of 168 passengers are still unknown, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has said.

At least eight people were killed and others missing on March 28 when button men detonated a bomb on the track and opened fire on the train linking the capital Abuja with the northwestern city of Kaduna.

President Muhammadu Buhari had said some passengers had been kidnapped and survivors said button men had snatched a number of passengers, but it is not clear how many.

It was the latest deadly assault blamed on heavily armed criminal gangs known locally as bandidos in the region.

In a statement late Sunday, the NRC said of the 362 passengers on board the train when it was attacked, 186 had been confirmed safe.

"Of the 362 validated passengers on board the attacked AK9 train service on March 28, 186 persons on the manifest are confirmed to be safe and at their various homes," it said.

The NRC said of the remaining 176 passengers, eight have been confirmed dead, leaving the whereabouts of 168 still unknown.

It said efforts were still underway to rescue the missing passengers.

The corporation said damaged track and coaches were being repaired while services on the Abuja-Kaduna route had been "temporarily suspended".

Two days earlier, button men killed a perimeter security guard in an attack at Kaduna airport before armed forces intervened.

Gunmen also attacked the same railway line with explosives in October.

Bandit gangs in the northwest and central Nigerian states have long terrorised communities, conducting mass kidnappings for ransom, raiding villages and stealing cattle.

But their violence has intensified. Gunmen often arrive in their scores by cycle of violence, sometimes striking several villages, killing and abducting residents.

Gunmen have also targeted highways for kidnappings between the capital and cities such as Kaduna and the northwestern commercial hub Kano.

Nigeria's military has been carrying out operations and air strikes to clear bandidos out of their camps hidden in forests across several states in the northwest. But the violence has continued.

Security forces are also battling Nigeria's 12-year jihadist insurgency in the northeast that has killed 40,000 people and displaced more than two million more.

Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are victims of the Chinese debt trap
In America we call that predatory lending, and toss the lenders in jail for it.
[OneInida] Both Pakistain and Sri Lanka have plunged into a crisis and the blame lies entirely on the Chinese debt.

The situation in these two countries has now forced nations like Maldives, Bangladesh and Nepal to think again on the Chinese infrastructure and also being part of the BRI initiative.

In Sri Lanka the blame clearly lies on Rajapaksa who began leaning towards the Chinese heavily much to the displeasure of India. The nation brought upon itself immense economic stress by taking high interest loans from China in the name of developing infrastructure.

Pakistain on the other hand has more than 10 per cent of its debt owed to China. Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
has been blamed squarely for the economic mess the country is in today. Due to this high value debts the country has not only fallen economically, buy has also plunged into political crisis. Khan is making matters worse by whipping up public sentiments and blaming the situation on a foreign conspiracy against him and his government.

Both Pakistain and Sri Lanka face complex situations as the US has a great amount of control on the global financial institutions. This would make it harder for the two nations as they have shifted their loyalties to China.

[OneIndia] Terrorists carried out three attacks in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. They said the duo were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Great News! Elon Musk Becomes Twitter's Largest Shareholder After Conducting a Poll
[PJ] Following Twitter’s suspension of the Babylon Bee, Elon Musk appeared to get a little irritated. In late March, Musk asked his more than 80 million followers what to do about Twitter’s failure to adhere to free speech principles:

With the plethora of new platforms emerging, many followers and commentators suggested that the Tesla and SpaceX CEO just buy Twitter. Musk once again proved that his timeline is one to watch because he’s willing to spend a gobsmacking amount of money in response to a Twitter poll. Musk just bought a 9.2% passive stake in the company. Talk about sending a message. According to CNBC:

FOX News Tucker Carlson video 'Sensorship' and the Musk Twitter stock purchase.

While Elon Musk now controls 9.2% of Twitter. Twitter's top five shareholders as of Q3 2021 all together still control 31.02%.
They are:
Morgan Stanley,
Vanguard,
BlackRock,
State Street Corp.,
and Lone Pine Capital.
Collectively, the top five Twitter shareholders own just around 30.02% of the company.

So, IF say Morgan Stanley and Vanguard Group teamed up, or one of them and 2 others teamed up then they outvote Musk.

Plus there is the issue of who all owns the other 59.7%

QUESTION: Looking at the bigger picture.
It is interesting to note these Elite companies own a Media company associated with the Massive Censorship of free speech and supported/promoted Anti-Trump narratives in 2020.

Iraq
ISIS members overseeing Baghdad suicide bombing handed death sentence
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces on Sunday said a death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
has been handed to two Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) members who oversaw the fatal double suicide kaboom that shook Baghdad last year.

The two members, who were arrested earlier, were handed a death sentence by the judge, state media quoted the investigative department of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) as saying.

The two ISIS members held "sensitive and important" positions in the holy warrior group, the department added, noting that one was the assistant to the so-called leader of southern Iraq in ISIS, Abu Hassan al-Gharibawi, and the other was in charge of the group’s hostels.

At least 32 people were killed and 100 others were maimed when two jacket wallahs attacked Baghdad’s Tayaran square on January 21 last year.

The death sentence comes over a year after two ISIS members were killed, including Gharibawi, for being allegedly involved in the attack.

ISIS seized control of swaths of land in Iraq in 2014. The group was declared territorially defeated in 2017 but has continued to carry out bombings, hit-and-run attacks, and kidnappings across several provinces.

Two ISIS suspects, plotting to carry out a suicide kaboom during the month of Ramadan, were arrested in Kirkuk last month.

In its propaganda magazine on Thursday, ISIS claimed to have conducted six attacks in Iraq from March 24 to March 30, killing and injuring 10 people.

US considers vaccinating chickens to protect from devastating bird flu outbreak that has caused 22 million poultry deaths in America
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] These things happen, from time to time. Nobody ever bothered with a vaccine before, they just culled the infected flocks.
  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture is considering rolling out a bird flu vaccine for poultry in the country

  • A current outbreak of the avian flue has caused the death of around 22 million birds

  • The outbreak has caused turmoil in the poultry industry over the past few months

  • Humans are relatively safe from the outbreak, with bird-to-human transmission rare and human-to-human transmission likely not possible

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Bucha: The banality of staged atrocities
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] 1. It is obvious that the story with Bucha simply one in one copies a similar methodology of staged accusations that everyone could observe in Syria (regardless of whether the participants in the staged picture are alive or dead) since 2012, when only "bloody Assad" did anything in Syria.

2. It is obvious that such stories will continue, as they have continued in Syria for many years. Moreover, in the next episodes of the series, we will surely see the series "The sinister attack of the Russians using chemical weapons."

In Syria, this was done by "fighters for the freedom of Syria." In Ukraine, "fighters for the freedom of Ukraine" are doing this. The template is the same, because the owner of all this action is the same. The performers shoot a picture for the media, which is used by diplomats to encourage further action. Moreover, at all levels, the process is controlled from one center.

3. Russia's arguments in the mainstream media and at the diplomatic level will not be accepted, because this is not a discussion, but a war of annihilation. Therefore, the facts provided by the Russian Federation will be swept aside according to the principle "if the facts contradict faith, then so much the worse for the facts." What kind of faith they want to impose is not difficult to assess from the rhetoric of the US-controlled neoliberal media.

4. Nevertheless, it is important for Russia to explain the mechanism of such provocations inside the country for its own citizens, as well as to work with those groups in Western society that also did not buy into the "stories about the atrocities of the Assad regime" - on the one hand, there are anti-imperialist leftists, and on the other hand, the alt-right. So, you can't go all out on this job.

5. Of course, such provocations will be used to impose new sanctions against the Russian Federation and intensify the supply of weapons, as well as to demonize the Russian Federation and dehumanize its population.

6. It is important to remember from the Syrian experience - despite a whole bunch of such provocations, they did not help the United States and its satellites achieve victory in the Syrian war. Neither Eastern Ghouta nor Khan Sheikhoun prevented Assad's victory.

Accordingly, realizing the meaning and consequences of such provocations, as well as taking the necessary measures to stop them, it is necessary to continue operations in Ukraine until the goals are achieved, which, in fact, they are trying to prevent with such provocations.

If you have already declared to fight the "Empire of Lies", be prepared for its usual tools of warfare. And then, just another provocation, and some have already hung their noses. Don't worry, there will be more. More cynical and bloody.
Learn to take a hit.

PS. In the title photo, an attempt by Ukrainian propaganda to break through a new bottom, passing off the body of a girl killed in Mariupol (filmed by Patrick Lancaster) as a "victim of Russian troops in Gostomel." This is again to the question of what the authors of fakes about the "genocide in Bucha" feed the audience with.

#6  I've had the misfortune of seeing someone's brains knocked out of their head with my own eyes. I don't say this to be macho; it's not something I ever wanted to see. I'm not a soldier or anything like that, and I had hoped to live a nice, long life without ever seeing anything like that.

But, since I have seen it, I had a good long look at the Bucha pictures; especially the one of the man in the blue jacket face down on the street with a spray of viscera below his face. It didn't look quite right to me - until those satellite images came out. Then it made sense. He'd been lying like that for weeks in the cold of Winter, so everything had frozen, changing color and consistency. Then the picture made sense.

God help us all, the Russians are practicing the Russian way of war straight out of the old Stalin playbook. Mass executions, gang rape, and even genocide are unfortunately part of that way, designed to break the spirit of the population and make them more docile. It worked pretty well in East Germany; but it isn't working on the Ukrainians. Whether they were or weren't a nation before, they certainly are one now.

I say this as large "L" Libertarian who is extremely suspicious of the Western media; a media prone to beat the war drums one moment (Ukraine) and to go completely quiet another moment (Somalia, Ethiopia) when it suits them. And I have been critical of much of the propaganda on both sides during this war - like Putin bathing in deer antler blood. (Please!) But as much as a Libertarian has any power at all, you can have the power to not lie to people. Or yourself.

The Russians are clearly doing many of the things they are being accused of. They are clearly guilty and need to be stopped. The trolls they are sending to this website are also clearly lying. The Russians also have a lot of nuclear weapons and a willingness to use them. So an extremely unsatisfying tightrope must be walked at all times, less the killing of thousands turn into the death of millions.

So let us all pray whomever in Washington is running the show behind the scenes is a lot smarter and more capable than the human marionettes they're currently hiding behind.

Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz appears in court as jury selection begins for trial to decide whether he will get the death penalty or life in prison
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • A jury will decide whether Nikolas Cruz,
...diagnoses of autism, anxiety, depression and significant psychological problems, described as a troubled kid obsessed with guns — the police came to the family home frequently to deal with him. Mr. Cruz was adopted at birth, then his adoptive father died when he was young, followed into the grave by his adoptive mother a few months before he ran amok. So really he was a classic school shooter. Interestingly, his biological sister Danielle Woodard, a decade older, also has a long rap sheet and is classified as a habitual violent offender...
23, will be put to death for murdering 17

  • It is expected to be a two-month process to pick 12 panelists, eight alternates

  • In October, Cruz pleaded guilty and jurors will only decide on his sentence

  • The jurors chosen will decide on a death sentence or life without parole

I can think of a few such crimes in our area where the death sentence was the only appropriate sentence. There was no doubt about who did them; they were just vicious horrible crimes. However, endless appeals have dragged out the justice process for 20 years or so. These criminals end up destroying victim and their families' lives forever.

Caribbean-Latin America
High Seas: US and Netherlands authorities intercept 8,500 pounds of cocaine worth $245m and arrest 13 drug smugglers during 45-day sting operation in the Caribbean Sea
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] More than four tons of cocaine has been intercepted on ships smuggling narcotics in the Caribbean during a 45-day sting operation led by the US Coast Guard, officials said.

At least 13 suspected drug smugglers from Colombia and the Dominican Republic were arrested in 11 incidents involving the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Dauntless and the HNLMS Friedland of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

The Coast Guard was unable to say where the cocaine was being smuggled to and from after it offloaded the drugs at a Miami port.

The arrests come six weeks after the Coast Guard cutter James dropped off 30 tons of cocaine and marijuana worth over $1 billion at Port Everglades in Florida.

The 54,500 pounds of cocaine and 15,800 pounds of marijuana offloaded February 17 followed months of interdictions of drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Coca cultivation in Colombia in 2020 soared to 245,000 hectares (945 square miles), enough to produce 1,010 tons of cocaine, according to the White House’s latest report on harvesting trends in the Andean region.

As recently as 2014, potential production was less than half that amount. Production in Peru and Bolivia has also steadily risen.

Bloomberg columnist explains why gun control research is worthless
For information.
[BearingArms] It’s a wonderful stroke of irony that a guy whose byline appears on the eponymously-named news site of the gun control lobby’s biggest sugar daddy has delivered one of the most devastating blows against the idea that Science has proven the effectiveness and need for more gun control laws. In a new video from Reason’s Justin Monticello risk analyst, statistician, and Bloomberg columnist Aaron Brown lays to waste the tired tropes of politicians who claim that "evidence shows" the urgent adoption of gun or magazine bans, or that "studies show" gun homicides dropped by 20, 30, or 40% after the passage of a "common sense gun safety" measure. How? By taking a look at the studies themselves.

He’s not the first to do so. Brown begins by using a recent RAND analysis of gun research, which the corporation used to try to determine what the science actually says about the effectiveness of various gun control laws. What RAND found is that out of 27,900 pieces of research, just 123 of them displayed enough academic and scientific rigor to be taken seriously. Brown says that the problem is actually even worse, and that virtually none of the 123 projects that RAND deemed worthy of examining can be trusted to tell us anything of note.. and not just statistical noise.

We took a look at the significance of the 123 rigorous empirical studies and what they actually say about the efficacy of gun control laws.

Turkey Targets Vehicle of Syriac Military Council in Hasakah

A Ottoman Turkish drone targeted a vehicle belonging to the Syriac Military Council while accompanying a Russian patrol to Tel Tamr power station northwest of Hasakah, northeast Syria, on Sunday evening.
The Syriac Military Council is an Assyrian/Syriac military organisation in Syria, part of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
"The Ottoman Turkish occupation targeted with a drone the vehicle of Orom Marogi, a member of the General Command of the Syriac Military Council, while escorting the Russian side to the Tel Tamr this evening," SDF Media Center reported.

"Marogi and the translator were maimed due to this attack," SDF media center added.
Rudaw adds:
A Christian commander of the Kurdish-led forces and another person were maimed in a suspected Ottoman Turkish drone attack in northeast Syria (Rojava), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and media outlets said.

The drone hit a car carrying a member of the general command of the Syriac Military Council, Orom Maroge, and his translator in Tel Tamir as they were heading to the town’s power station, SDF media head Farhad Shami said in a tweet.

The attack came hours after an alleged Ottoman Turkish bombardment hit Tal Tamir and Zirgan district in Hasaka province, according to a conflict monitor, without causing civilian casualties.

Ankara often targets Rojava, especially Hasaka province, killing and injuring civilians as well as security forces.

Over 700 civilians were kidnapped and 134 others were maimed in Ottoman Turkish attacks in 2021, the SDF said in January.

The region also saw 47 Ottoman Turkish ground attacks and incursion attempts as well as 89 drone offensives last year.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
has conducted three military operations in northern Syria since 2016, two of them against Kurdish fighters who Ankara considers a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and a threat to its national security. It has been threatening a new offensive against Kurdish forces in Rojava in recent months.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Black Lives Matter secretly used $6 million in donations to buy luxurious 6,500-square foot mansion with seven bedrooms and parking for 20 cars in Southern California in 2020 where leaders have filmed YouTube videos
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Black Lives Matter brass secretly used $6 million in donation money to buy a 6,500-square foot mansion in Southern California, it has been revealed

  • Emails show the firm wanted to keep the purchase secret, despite filming a video on the home's patio in May

  • The news comes as the foundation faces federal scrutiny for alleged misuse of donated funds - and comes on heels of criticism of co-founder Patrisse Cullors

  • Cullors, 38, came under fire last year for a slew of high-profile property purchases. She resigned after facing backlash from critics and supporters
They could have paid for a lot of troublemaking with that money, but instead they bought a nice house — a small win for civilization.

'Wicked man': McMuffin denounces Trump endorsement of Utah GOP Sen. Mike Lee
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Former President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
offered his endorsement to Utah Sen. Mike Lee on Friday, prompting the immediate backlash of the incumbent’s top challenger, Evan McMullin.
Nominal Mormon, CIA 10 year man, Republican policy wonk, professional NeverTrumper. He fronted a failed NeverTrump presidential campaign in 2016, since then has earnt his daily caviar and champagne as a policy wonk for “Conservative” organizations funded by sympathetic far left billionaires like George Soros and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. It looks like he’s now sucking up dollars for another failure in practical politics...
In a tweet Friday, McMullin released a new attack ad questioning the Utah senator’s involvement in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. In the video, McMullin calls on Lee to "come clean" about the extent of his involvement on Jan. 6 and to cooperate with the House committee investigating the riot at the Capitol.

"Sen. Mike Lee, once a constitutional conservative, now has the endorsement of a wicked man who tried to dismantle our republic and stay in power against the people’s will," McMullin said. "Lee sacrificed his honor and values to serve him at the expense of Utah and our nation. I will not."
That, dear Reader, is because Mr. McMullin had no honour or values left by 2016, so he has nothing now to sacrifice.
However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
it’s not entirely clear whether Trump’s endorsement will offer much standing among Utah voters. Although it’s a reliably red state, Republicans there remain hesitant to back the former president, which may complicate Lee’s reelection bid because he is seen as one of Trump’s strong allies.

From the Russian Perspective: More on Bucha Incident
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

After the departure of the Russian Armed Forces from Bucha, no one saw the corpses for four days - Nebenzya
[REGNUM] There were no reports that the Russian military fired on civilians in Bucha for more than three days after they left this settlement, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said on April 4 at a press conference on the provocation in Bucha.

"For four days since the Russian military left Bucha, there was not a single sign of atrocities, not a single mention of them," the Russian diplomat said.

"To sum up, there are no reports of atrocities that are attributed to the Russian military in Bucha," he added.

“The videos that I presented, especially those of Bucha, do not give any reason to doubt that this was a production. We will present new evidence for this , ”Nebenzya emphasized.

In addition, the Russian permanent representative said that those who call for an "independent investigation" of the events in Bucha should remember the numerous "investigations" that had previously taken place with the strongest political motivation.

"The question is who will conduct the so-called independent investigation. We saw a lot of “independent investigations” that were not independent at all, because they were politically motivated," said Vasyl Nebenzya.

OSCE to hold special meeting on Ukrainian Bucha on April 5
[REGNUM] The Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will hold a special meeting on April 5 to discuss the consequences of the Russian military operation in the Kiev region of Ukraine. The Permanent Representative of Poland to the OSCE , Adam Halachinsky , announced this on April 4 on his page on the social network Twitter.

"The next special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council was convened for 5 April."

The special meeting, the main issue on the agenda of which is the situation in the Ukrainian Bucha, will not end with the adoption of specific decisions that require the consensus of the OSCE participating countries. It will only state and discuss the positions of the parties on the situation.

Recall that on the news feed of the Italian state television and radio company RAI on April 4, the news about the response of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the situation in Bucha appeared, and then disappeared. The news was published with the headline "Lavrov: there was a fake 'attack' and staging by the West and Kyiv in Bucha" and was deleted after a few minutes.

From Andrey Chervonets a brief chronology:
They worked extremely synchronously - early on Sunday morning, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, the BBC Russian Service and other news aggregators issued notes about Bucha, from which Russian troops left on March 30th. At the same time, sheets of pages on this topic were rolled up on Wikipedia in different languages. In the photo and video - a dozen and a half bodies that were found on the streets of the city.

And now we are carefully watching the full picture, which, of course, will not be shown in the West. Let's go in order.

1) March 30th. Russian units are leaving Bucha in an organized and complete manner, the day after the in-person round of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey, where the chief Russian negotiator Medinsky, as a gesture of goodwill, announced the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kyiv.

2) March 31st. The mayor of Buchi joyfully reported on the liberation of the settlement (despite the fact that the Russian troops left from there themselves). He does not talk about any corpses on the roads and terrible destruction in the video. At the same time, the deputy Jean Beleniuk was there. In the photo he is smiling, in his social networks there is no information about the bodies.

3) On the night of April 1-2, the Azov Nazis enter Bucha. Among others was the grouping of Sergei Korotkikh (Boatswain). In his video, empty streets with destroyed equipment.

4) Two days later , photos and videos of people lying on the streets appear. Why these photos and statements began to appear only two days after the entry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the city is obvious.

Ted Cruz endorses Josh Mandel in Ohio Senate race
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz;
...US Senator from Texas. Republican contender for president in 2016, his stiff and abrasive manner earned him the title most hated man in the Senate. After a close win over Beto O'Rourke, who tried to out-Latino him, he grew a beard and let his biting wit shine through. Cruz's comments have been known to leave life-threatening wounds at better than forty feet...
endorsed Josh Mandel in the highly competitive Ohio Senate Republican primary on Monday.

Cruz hailed Mandel as a "proven fighter" against the Democrats and a champion of conservative causes, issuing a highly coveted endorsement in a primary that has often been dominated by forceful appeals to the Republican base.

"As our nation faces crisis after crisis under Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. S I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
, our country needs conservative fighters to stand up to the radical Democrats who want to exploit these problems to deliver socialism to America. That's why I am supporting Josh Mandel for U.S. Senate," Cruz said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

The endorsement comes at a time when polls have tightened between Mandel, a former state treasurer who was once the clear front-runner, and Mike Gibbons, a businessman. A RealClearPolitics polling aggregate of the race has Gibbons up by 1.3 percentage points over Mandel. The primary is currently slated to take place on May 3.

"Having Senator Cruz's support shows that he believes I am the only candidate in this U.S. Senate race who will have the backbone and courage to stand up alongside him in Washington and take on the party bosses, left-wing media, and powerful lobbyists," Mandel said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. "When I get to the Senate, I look forward to serving as a reinforcement for Senator Cruz as we stand up to Joe Biden and work to defeat the far-left's radical agenda."

Nets Refuse to Cover Secret Service Spending Thousands with Hunter in Malibu
[MRC] Along with CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America decided it wouldn’t do its job on Monday of covering the latest layer of the Hunter Biden saga as a new report said the Secret Service is spending "more than $30,000 a month to rent out a swanky Malibu, California, mansion" to protect the First Son.

The outlet that reported this in a 1,433-word story, posted at 4:54 a.m. Eastern? ABCNews.com!

So, yes, ABC made the decision to ignore the work from three of its own reporters (Josh Margolin, John Santucci, and Soo Rin Kim) in favor of stories such recapping The Grammy’s from the night before, which they combined with CBS and NBC for 19 minutes and 48 seconds of coverage.

The trio began their piece "Secret Service paying over $30K per month for Malibu mansion to protect Hunter Biden" by explaining the hefty monthly bill has been shelled out "for nearly a year" to house Secret Service agents in order to keep "the president's controversial son" safe.

The ABC reporters continued (click "expand"):

I Had No Idea Biden Was Doing This
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden bent down on one knee for a photo with Navy sailors after commissioning the USS Delaware submarine.

The president and his wife First Lady Jill Biden appeared at the commissioning ceremony in Delaware on Saturday.

"It’s always a good day when I get to celebrate Delaware or spend time with service members and their families or introduce Jill," Biden cracked after taking the stage during his remarks, introducing himself as "Jill Biden’s husband."

But during the class photo, the president bent down on one knee next to the First Lady who remained standing.
"Kamala told me dropping to your knees made a great impression"
All of the sailors also stood during the photo.

It is unclear why Biden keeps taking a knee during formal photos.

The president took a knee during a photo with the Seattle Storms team as he welcomed them to the White House to celebrate their WNBA championship.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki indicated afterward that Biden taking a knee was not part of a protest, but something he had done in the past with other sports teams.

In July, Biden also took a knee while taking a photo with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House after celebrating their World Series victory.

Donald Trump endorses Sarah Palin in Alaska's special congressional race
[NYPOST] Former President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
has endorsed former Alaska Gov. Sarah Mama Grizzly Palin
... the babe libs love to hate ...
in her bid for Alaska’s congressional seat just days after she announced her candidacy.

"Sarah Palin is tough and smart and will never back down, and I am proud to give her my Complete and Total Endorsement," Trump said in a Sunday night statement, Fox News reported.

Trump also encouraged "all Republicans to unite behind this wonderful person and her campaign to put America First."

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, is looking to make a political comeback after more than a decade out of office.

She will run in a crowded special election for Alaska’s only seat in the US House of Representatives, left vacant when longtime Rep. Don Young died two in March after representing the state in Washington for 49 years.

"I’m in this race to win it and join the fight for freedom alongside other patriots willing to sacrifice all to save our country," Palin said in announcing her candidacy on Friday.

Sen. Blunt says he's a no vote on Ketanji Brown Jackson for Supreme Court, Mittens and Lisa Murkowski pledge yes
[NYPOST] Sen. Roy Blunt
...A Missouri political oligarch. As a member of Congress he was reelected six times without significant opposition. He married Roseann Ray in May 1967 and had three children with her: Matt (the former Governor of Missouri), Amy Blunt Mosby and Andrew Blunt, both lawyers and lobbyists. Blunt and Ray divorced after 35 years of marriage. Afterward, he married Abigail Perlman, a lobbyist for Kraft Foods. In April 2006, he and his wife adopted an 18-month old boy from Russia, whom they renamed Alexander Charles Charlie Blunt. He will be either a politician or a lobbyist or both when he grows up.

on Sunday became the latest Republican to come out in opposition to Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court, saying he disagrees with her judicial stance.

"My sense is that the president certainly had every good intention and every, every right in the campaign to talk about putting the first black woman on the court. I think it’s time for that to happen," the Missouri Republican said on ABC’s "This Week." "I was hoping that I could be a part of that."

But he said he found in conversations he had with Jackson on Capitol Hill last week that while the DC federal circuit court judge was "certainly qualified" and has a "great personality," her judicial views gave him pause.

"The judicial philosophy seems to be not the philosophy of looking at what the law says and the Constitution says and applying that, but going through some method that allows you to try to look at the Constitution as a more flexible document and even the law, and there are cases that show that that’sher view," Blunt said.

Zelensky wants mothers of Russian soldiers to see their sons' atrocities in Ukraine
[NYPOST] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the mothers of Russian soldiers in an emotional Sunday night speech — saying he wants them to see the carnage their sons have caused after hundreds of executed civilians were discovered in a mass grave in a Kyiv suburb.

"I want every mother of every Russian soldier to see the bodies of the killed people in Bucha, in Irpin, in Hostomel. What did they do? Why were they killed?" Zelensky asked in his nightly address on Sunday.

"What did the man who was riding his bicycle down the street do? Why were ordinary civilians in an ordinary peaceful city tortured to death? Why were women strangled after their earrings were ripped out of their ears? ... How did all this become possible?" an enraged Zelensky said.

On Sunday, images surfaced of bodies littered in the streets of Bucha, a small city about 30 miles northwest of Kyiv. A mass grave of nearly 300 corpses was also uncovered, leading Zelensky to claim that the atrocity amounts to "genocide."

The bodies were discovered after Russian troops pulled out of the city. Among the slain were children and women, who were reportedly raped and set burned alive, Ukrainian officials said.

Men were also tortured executed, shot in the head with their hands bound behind their backs, the officials said.

Ukrainian mayor found tortured and executed beside family in shallow grave

[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The corpses of a missing Ukrainian mayor, her husband, and her child were recovered in a shallow grave, according to recently released images and Ukrainian officials.

Olga Sukhenko, mayor of the suburb of Motyzhyn outside of Kyiv, was initially kidnapped by Russian forces alongside her husband and son on March 23, Ukrainian officials said.

The Russians "tortured and murdered the whole family of the village head," said Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian interior ministry.

"The occupiers suspected they were collaborating with our military, giving us locations of where to target our artillery," Herashchenko said. "These scum tortured, slaughtered, and killed the whole family."

The bodies of Sukhenko, her husband, Ihor Sukhenko, and her son, Oleksandr, were uncovered by a news hound on a farm outside of Motyzhyn, according to a report.

One body had its head taped, the report noted, and a fourth body was found tied up.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk verified Sukhenko's murder and said at least 11 community officials are being held captive by the Russians across the nation.

Satellite images of mass graves, including a 45-foot trench seen Monday, have been released to the public throughout the past month, leading to strong condemnation by foreign leaders.

I sure as hell hope the Russians have done a bit better.

Iraq
Scores of ISIS militants killed in armed clashes with Iraqi army in Nineveh

Two ISIS turbans were killed in armed confrontations with a force from the Iraqi army in the southwest of Nineveh, the Security Media Cell (SMC) reported on Monday.

SMC said that a force from the 75th brigade of the Iraqi army's 16th division discovered a network of tunnels during a combing campaign near mount Nowayqit.

The force clashed with a group of faceless myrmidons sheltering inside, SMC said, and a jacket wallah was rubbed out in the fire exchange.

"Another suicide bomber blew himself inside a tunnel, injuring two officers and two troops," SMC added, "the Iraqi airforce carried out two Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, killing the faceless myrmidons hiding inside the tunnels."
Rudaw adds:
In its propaganda magazine on Thursday, ISIS claimed to have conducted six attacks in Iraq from March 24 to March 30, killing and injuring 10 people.

Indonesian court sentences teacher to death for raping 13 students
[NYPOST] An Indonesian court handed down a death sentence on Monday to a teacher for raping 13 girls at an Islamic school, upholding an appeal by prosecutors for the death penalty after he had initially received a sentence of life in prison.

The case of teacher Herry Wirawan has shocked Indonesia and shone a spotlight on the need to protect children from sexual violence in the country’s religious boarding schools.

After he was sentenced to life in jail by a court in the city of Bandung in February, prosecutors who had called for the death penalty filed an appeal.

“(We) hereby punish the defendant with the death penalty,” the judge said in a statement on Monday posted on the Bandung High Court’s website.

Ira Mambo, Herry’s lawyer, declined to comment on whether there would be an appeal, citing a need to see the full ruling from the court.

India-Pakistan
Imran Khan accuses US diplomat of trying to overthrow government
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The prime minister of Pakistain accused a United States diplomat on Sunday of playing a role in a conspiracy to overthrow his government.

Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
claimed Donald Lu,
Who?
assistant secretary of state for south and central Asian affairs,
...that doesn’t really clarify, sorry. He’s not interesting enough to be found in the Rantburg archives...
had told him through Pakistain's ambassador to the U.S., Asad Majeed, that there would be implications if Khan survived the no-confidence vote, according to the Hindustan Times.

Khan added that he had reports that objectors to his Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
party had frequented the U.S. Embassy.

"What were the reasons that the people, who have left us, met people of the embassy frequently in the last few days?" he said in a televised statement.

The no-confidence vote was blocked in Parliament on Sunday, with Khan calling on Pakistain to prepare for an early election. He also requested Pak President Arif Alvi to dissolve Parliament, CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
reported.

The State Department did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment on Lu.

#1  It's not hysteria. The 'Stain is the only 'ace' the US deepState has in this region. The CIA channels into Islamabad run deep and smell of curry and piss. They're dogs ove there. Dangle enough carrots before them [hell, some can be bought for a blówjob] and they'll sell out their affiliations, topple their governments gladly. And the military junta is pro-dollar more than pro-yuan, always. Give it a chance, and they'll even jail their PMs.

For Imran worshiping before Putin, to counter the possibility of increasing India-China economic interdependence under threats of sanctions, to punish the subcontinent basically... what better way than to do incentivize the junta to take over. That would plunge the region likely into war.

I'm all for war, but Imran was good for slow negation of the 'Stain influence in Asia. The corruption was phenomenal, the crime and chaos and utter sasquatchery was beautiful. He set back whatever Nawaz and Mush tried to build by a decade, and leeched both dollar and yuan out in truckloads.

This is not hysteria. The US wishes for a stable, productive, supportive Islamic Republic of Paxstan strong enough to push Washington's will in the region. We won't let that happen inshallah or outshallah. Because Washington is insane, we are not.

#3  No, not always, unvaxxed. And I don't blame the US. For me, you are the US. Your rulers have not been representative of you for a longer time than you'd like to imagine. If you'd still like to defend their actions out of a sense of loyalty or hubris, I understand that too. It just is what it is.

Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of thinking apart from the government, nor can I divorce myself from America. In whatever form, we all battle an existential threat from Islamists, commies, homegrowns, whatever. They all derive their strength from international conventions of 'inalienable rights' and 'due process' and such. So, a clash between East and West will exist until the west accepts the fallibility of these notions, or at least learns to apply them selectively. Everyone from the UN to the mandarins in DC would shit a brick if we nuked 'slamabad tonight, wouldn't they. The same people mumbling 'oh the humanity!' over dead bodies in Ukraine would tear up and whine to kingdom come over dead children and women littering the Khyber pakhtunkhwa. You will appreciate we are indignant at not being able to 'solve' Pakistain.

If India blames Washington for empowering the 'Stain and endangering everyone including Americans, it is a justifiable criticism. Of not only callousness but suicidal stupidity. If the moslems in Pakistain do it they're just being moslem ingrates.

Obama, Biden, the next one... as far we are concerned, all are to be feared. Only DJT was worth the trust and respect because he couldn't be taken for a ride by moslems. He understood who the enemies were and how to get ahead together without obstructing non-hostile societies. India suffered a greater setback in the dem putsch than any other Asian country in fact. If India works to undermine the west's ability to sanction us for ridding the world of pests, that too you cannot begrudge us. Trump gave only India the waiver on Iran and understood he couldn't trust the 'allies' his advisors pointed to. He trusted us instead.

To blame is to live in the past. To be wary of something you know has the Murphy's Touch is not paranoia or hatred but just plain prudence. And the US government has been pathetically underperforming on meeting the ideals the real America stands for.

Well said. Americans consistently fail to understand how much damage is done by their blunt sanctions weapon. Trump was a breath of fresh air. Biden brought back all the foul stench and patronizing stupidity of liberal western imperialism. "Shaky." Tsk tsk.

#9  Not all Americans, SC. Most of them are like you and me. All they want is service for their tax dollar. And most of that service is domestic. The few who were sold that schtick about 'protecting our freedoms' by fighting in Asia were also made to pay dearly by the deepState administrations when they asked for some of that freedom on Capitol Hill.

So we are all in this together. The American Right and India are not so opposed to each other's interests. We are not for blind and blatant Chinese expansionism for one. We are both victims and enemies of islamo-marxist and Globalist conspirators that seek to hijack our democracies.

Conservative Americans aren't naive. They are deeply patriotic and have yet to come to terms with the fact that this is not the America they have grown up serving. Imagine India taken over by the Congress, the SPs and Kejriwals. Having to witness the piecemeal dismantling of every edifice your brothers have died protecting. By scoundrels. This shit about Ukraine and Vlad... it's another hook into the hubris with which both RINO and libDem establishments have led the conservatives.

I read the arguments here. 'You are just wrong!' 'America is done!' 'No, Russia is!' 'Nazis! There's no such thing!' 'oooh the dead bodies!'

And I think of the engineers of chaos. And how they're consistently winning while we all predictably quibble.

#40  I want to remember the Rantburg readers if they wanted to put the dots together, that March 7th of this year , foreign office of Pakistan received diplomatic correspondence from their ambassador in Washington DC. It detailed an official meeting he had with Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu. Mr Donald Lu told Pakistani ambassador that their current tilt toward china and Russia is not acceptable by Biden administration. And things will get more difficult if Pakistan does not correct its path.
All Pakistan had to do was to make sure upcoming no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan does not fail.
That motion was filed next day March 8th. Imran Khan government kept quiet about this letter but asked intelligence agencies under his control to start documenting movements of 3 foreign ambassadors , 24/7.
I think its normal practice for any foreign ambassadors to meet different political leaders but it was highly unusual for them to meet members of national assembly from Imran Khan’s own party , 22 of these defected against Imran Khan.
This matter is fluid and complex , there is a lot at stake here. Barring any under handed surprises , Imran Khan will sweep next elections, local media estimating 80% support for him right now .
Basically what we are seeing is another cia color revolution or management change failure developing under our eyes.

We could have stopped opium production from restarting after the invasion. Remember, the Taliban banned it back in the 1990s, too. But it's just too profitable. Plus, the opioids that are destroying small town America come from Afghanistan, so there's that's another point in its favor.

#12  Just remembered the Chinese developed many high yield poppy seeds specifically for the Afghans to cultivate for them. This was in 2015-2017. Maybe it's about quality control now?

#13  The US military was in complete control of Afghanistan for 20 years. If they had wanted to stop opium production from restarting, they would have done it.

But no. They allowed it to restart. Then they defended fields full of poppies from the Taliban, knowing full well those would be made into opioids and flood in to America.

"But the farmers needed that income" what a bullshit excuse. With all the money we spent on Afghanistan, we could have paid them all a subsidy not to grow crops. I hear USDA does the same thing and it works great.

Joe Biden 'confident' Hunter didn't break law in dealings with Ukraine, China: Klain
[NYPOST] President Biden believes his son Hunter did nothing illegal while involved in controversial and highly lucrative business dealings in Ukraine and China and is allowing the Justice Department to carry out its investigation unimpeded, the White House chief of staff said Sunday.

"Of course the president’s confident that his son didn’t break the law. But, most importantly, as I said, that’s a matter that’s going to be decided by the Justice Department, by the legal process," Ron Klain said on ABC News’ "This Week."

"It’s something that no one at the White House has involvement in."

But ABC’s George Stephanopoulos pressed Klain on a report in the Washington Post last week that said a Chinese energy conglomerate paid Hunter Biden and the president’s brother, James, $4.8 million over a 14-month period

Home Front: Politix
Greg Abbott eyes a third term
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Gregory Wayne Abbott is attempting what only one other governor in Texas has done: win a third term.

But the 64-year-old incumbent, previously the longest-serving attorney general in state history, must first convince voters that he deserves another shot. To do that, Abbott is painting his state as a bulwark against national Democrats' agenda on border enforcement and economic policy as well as school curricula and child sacrifice abortion restrictions. It's this approach he hopes will help him beat out Democratic contender Robert Francis "Beto" O’Rourke;
...Kennedyeque businessman, musician, skateboard artiste, and politician who represented Texas' 16th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019. Beto is a Latino nickname for people whose names end in "erto," like "Roberto" or "Alberto." He is seeking the Dem nomination for President in 2020 because he has nice hair and lots of teeth. He was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas and is a graduate of a prep school and Columbia University, which is not in Texas. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council. He was elected to Congress in 2012 after defeating eight-term incumbent Silvestre Reyes in the Democratic primary. He declined to seek re-election in 2018, instead running for the Senate against Republican Ted Cruz, running a campaign that drew national attention because of his skateboarding skills. A few months after he lost, he announced his campaign for President...
in November.

Speaking with the Washington Examiner at his office inside the Texas state Capitol in March, Abbott first emphasized the need to maintain Texas's economy, which would be the ninth-largest in the world by GDP if it were an independent country.

"There's obviously so many issues," Abbott said when asked about his priorities. "You address the issues that are before you at the time. And one thing that we want to focus on is Texas has pretty much the leading economy of any state in the United States. Goal No. 1 is to continue that process because that brings prosperity to everybody in this state."

The state's booming economy and the "Don’t Mess with Texas" individualism responsible for it are, in fact, drawing people from other states. The 2021 Texas Relocation Report, which tracked the arrival of new residents in 2019, found more than 500,000 people moved to Texas in each of the last seven years. That was before the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic, which led even greater numbers of West and East Coast residents to migrate down south. Texas was among the first states to ban vaccine requirements and oppose mask mandates. Texas was the second-most moved-to state in 2020, after Florida, according to Move.org. Despite being the second-most moved-to and moved-from state in 2021, it gained more people than it lost and is expected to surpass 30 million residents in 2022.

Woman cheated out of $108,000 to fraudster using Latvian official’s photos
[NYPost] A woman has told of her horror after scammers used photos of a “silver fox” European politician to trick her out of $108,000.

Brit Sharon Bulmer was swindled out of thousands after a fraudster sent her a Facebook message saying he was “lonely” in May 2020.

The con artist used a fake profile with a photo of Latvian defense minister Artis Pabriks to trick his mark.

After repeatedly telling Sharon he was a US soldier who needed money to leave Syria and visit her, she discovered that he was not a real person.

Authorities in Latvia say they are aware of more than 100 phony profiles using snaps of Pabriks to scam women.

The Latvian Defence Office said they have been “facing this situation for a long time” and have reported the profiles.

Sharon, from Manchester, is still coming to terms with being conned.

( ) The Ukrainians are Nazis, especially the Jewish ones.

( ) Ukraine was wearing a short skirt. And for that matter, Poland and the Baltics are looking pretty hot.

( ) We had to destroy Mariupol in order to save it.

( ) We are not targeting civilians. Our aim isn’t all that good, though.

( ) We’ve weakened NATO by showing just how valuable NATO membership is.

( ) NATO made us do it.

( ) America made us do it.

( ) The Chinese didn’t make us do it, but they approve. Sort of.

( ) Good news! India is willing to buy our oil at 20% below market. We’re like the watermelon salesman — we’ll make it up on volume.

( ) Our special operation in Ukraine will make the dollar cease to be the world’s reserve currency. Heck, we haven’t seen a dollar in weeks.

#7  Walter Russell Mead: Biden's Ugly Options in Ukraine
1. Escalate and threaten Russia with nuclear war (LOL)
2. "Force Ukraine to accept Russian demands"
3. "Freeze" the conflict

"The first option, helping Ukraine win, is the most emotionally appealing

[always the best course of action: follow your feelz!]

"and would certainly be the most morally justifiable and politically beneficial, but the risks and costs are high. Russia won’t accept defeat before trying every tactic, however brutal, and perhaps every weapon, however murderous. To force Russia to accept failure in Ukraine, the Biden administration would likely have to shift to a wartime mentality, perhaps including the kind of nuclear brinkmanship not seen since the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. With China and Iran both committed to weakening American power by any available means, a confrontation with the revisionist powers spearheaded by Russia may prove to be the most arduous challenge faced by an American administration since the height of the Cold War.

["Joe, you're no Jack Kennedy"]

"But the other two options are also bad. A Russian victory would inflict a massive blow to American prestige and the health of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, especially if the West were seen as forcing Ukraine to surrender to Russian demands.

"Freezing the conflict is also perilous, as this would presumably leave Russia holding even more Ukrainian territory than it did following the 2014 invasions of Crimea and the Donbas. It would be hard to spin this as anything but a partial victory for Russia—and Mr. Putin would remain free to renew hostilities at a time of his choosing."

This is what's likely to happen. And of course Psaki's successor and all of Bidens media shills (excluding honest Walter Mead) will "spin this as anything but a victory for Russia" -- as America gets invaded and plundered and becomes poorer and less free. For #Ukraine!

#13  Food rationing has already started in Spain. Every left-wing government will be doing this soon. American cities will follow Spain's example:

The socialist government of Spain has introduced new laws allowing for the supermarkets to ration food and other items as a part of its “Response Plan” to the economic fallout from the war in Ukraine.

Amid soaring inflation, which hit nearly 10 per cent in March, the Spanish government, controlled by the leftist Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has opened up a legal loophole for supermarkets to begin rationing to customers.

#15  #12 Putin can't afford to spend as he is right now in Ukraine for 20 years

How much is Russia spending? Do you know? The best analysis at the war's height was less than $500 million per day. A frozen conflict would require not more than $100m/day. Russia has a current account surplus that's already over $200 billion. Goldman Sachs now forecasts that Russia is on track to make $321 billion in oil revenues in 2022.

This doesn't even include the other revenues from exporting to Brazil, India, China and all the other big markets that are not telling the West to screw off. Russia can easily afford a frozen conflict for years to come.

Putin May Collect $321 Billion Windfall If Oil and Gas Keep Flowing
Goldman, IIF expect record current-account surplus for Russia

Bloomberg Economics expects Russia will earn nearly $321 billion from energy exports this year, an increase of more than a third from 2021. It’s also on track for a record current-account surplus that the Institute of International Finance says may reach as high as $240 billion.

#17  Every time I read a MSM story about "teachers who have to buy pencils and paper for their classroom from they own funds," I then think about our pro bassetbaw stars that make millions a year and say they are basically slaves. I don't think Russia has $500 million a day / week / year to waste on Ukraine. Just as iran can't afford its nuke program or NKor its missile program.

All of that spending is foul and wrong, but hey, we do it too, so I guess everyone else is just following the example, eh?

#21  Russians--or Putin anyway--excel at frozen conflicts. They haven't even bothered to use their navy or Air Force in this one. It's havoc on the cheap. Just do the math. A $250 billion current account surplus will fund a low intensity conflict that ensures Ukraine will be as poor as Gaza for, well, as long as Gaza has been poor.

Russia's current account situation is the opposite of ours: they're piling up savings, importing far less than they export, while we spend like drunken sailors, run up enormous deficits and pile up debts as far as the eye can see. Then we hope-pray-wish that other nations (mainly China) will keep lending us money, funding the spree and bailing us out.

A poster here pointed out that the US debt to GDP ratio is 125%, while Russia's is not even 1/7th ours. Their debt to GDP is the lowest in the industrialized world (17%).

He also noted that Russia has enough physical gold to almost totally (85% iirc) back up its money supply. The US has only 9% of its money supply backed by physical gold.

I don't think you understand. The oil exports are real. Commodities are real. The $321 billion that Goldman Sachs expects Russia to receive is real. Not funny paper cranked out by Jay Powell and Joe Biden's printing press.

Also, settlement is a trivial problem which the world's bankers can easily solve with non-SWIFT payment mechanisms. The ruble is going to backed by gold -- again, the ratio is a very healthy 85%, not pitiful 9% as is the case for the US fiat currency.

#44  It remains, though, that Putin is risking famines around the world for... what?

I'd guess there are 20 reasons related to Covid Protocols before getting sanctions preventing Russia exports, then getting to ripples in the Ukraine harvest.

I'm not quite sold on that part either, kind of depends on the strain of wheat. Out here it was planted months ago and the only thing to do is hope for the right moisture and keep an eye on weeds. If its a Spring wheat, then yes it is about planting time, and again dependent upon the grain and ground temperature and conditions.

Could be all those tractors are available because it is still idle time with the fields, and if the fronts become stabilized, those not near fighting could sow, if the appropriate resources are available such a fuel and parts for the implements.

The worldwide potential decrease in yields has a lot more to do with shutting down international (and intra-national) trade for a year and varying degrees of restrictions for an additional year.

Its these very same politicians who shut down our own energy and manufacturing capacities. Stories of fertilizer waiting to unload in California from China taking so long as to miss planting for Winter Wheat, that's California Government and people like Buttgig who slept their way to their position and are totally incapable of solving real problems, so they make money off of creating them. Whatever Putin is or is not, this is not on him.

PS - it also wouldn't be the first time Brandon hyped up a situation to scare people into The Narrative. Like, when all the unvaxed were supposed to die this last Winter so go get your shots and boosters.

#47  After 2020 and going into 21 The Ag Community was very vocal about what it needed, and certain key states and fed gov actually aggravated those needs, so whatever shortfalls in yields in the USA occur, and they are expected, is mostly government inflicted, and they would love it if you blamed Russia in the Ukraine instead of ridiculous dock yard policies which had shipments from Asia going to the Gulf or SE Coast to unload instead of West Coast to sit over the horizon for unknown weeks until their number came up or the check cleared.

Yup. Dividing and smashing the country to pieces is "winning." How many people does Ukraine even have left? Millions emigrated before the war, millions more have left since Feb. 24, and they've since lost millions more in Donbas, Mariupol etc.

I doubt Ukraine's healthy population even exceeds 20 million at this point. It would take decades and trillions in western aid to get the country back to anywhere close to where it was before February.

An “opportunity to complete the deindustrialization of Ukraine.” Putin isn’t defeated or baffled or confused. He’s turning the crank on the meatgrinder.

One doesn’t have to read too far into these lines to conclude that Putin hoped that Zelensky would cut a deal on his terms once Russia invaded, but when Zelensky refused to cut a deal, Putin moved to Option B, which is to erase most of Ukraine from the face of the earth.

That’s not as difficult as it sounds. Putin will keep the bits he wants in the Southeast (Donetsk and Luhansk), leave the West to factory farming, and pound the rest to rubble with artillery and air power.

Ukrainians are not as stupid as the Palestinians.

Brits are already planning to build nuclear plants. I believe the Germans will follow. Russian stranglehold on energy exports will diminish in time.

Nuclear weapons and rockets have a shelf life and high cost of maintenance. At some point Russia's Florida sized economy will have to chose between a conventional military or maintaining the nuclear weapons.

Russia can't hold Ukraine for more than decade, shorter if they smash Ukraine at some later point.

The non-western world opposes these sanctions and is with Russia.

One of China's top diplomats, Zhou Xiaoming, notes that of the 193 member nations in the UN, more than 150 "refused to join in the West's effort to hamper Russia." These nations represent more than half the world's wealth and about 80% of its people.

Despite the Biden Administration's bluster, begging, and pleading, over 150 nations have held firm it is false to say that the West's sanctions "represent the will of the international community....This claim is neither accurate nor factual."

Civilians of Bucha were shot by the Nazis
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Aleksandr Kots

[KP] There are no bodies scattered around the city in the video footage of the National Police of Ukraine

The morning covers of Western newspapers, as expected, exploded with the headlines "Nightmare in Bucha", "Genocide", "Mass murder of the innocent". The meaning of the publications is reduced to one "axiom": "Russia must answer for the execution of civilians in the suburbs of Kyiv." The terrible footage was published by the Ukrainian side the day before, the Russian military was indiscriminately accused of torture and extrajudicial executions.

The proof is only footage of the unfortunate on the streets, in basements, many have their hands tied behind their backs. Killer picture. And I’ll say right away that I have no doubt that in the photo and video there are really the bodies of the dead. There were enough of them in Bucha. But who shot the unarmed? Let's restore the chronology.

On March 30, Russian troops withdrew from Bucha as part of a regrouping. This is stated by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. I was these days in the suburbs of Kyiv. In fact, the withdrawal of our units began even earlier. It's just that by the 30th there was not a single soldier from Russia left in Bucha. The enemy did not immediately realize this. And he continued to inflict artillery strikes on our former concentration areas.

On March 31, Bucha was visited by the mayor of the city, who pathetically announced the "liberation" of the settlement. At the same time, without saying anything about the corpses on the roads. On the same day the deputy and wrestler Zhan Beleniuk visited here . In the photo, he is smiling, which would look out of place against the backdrop of dead bodies. The statement of the mayor, in fact, was premature - I really wanted to hurry things up. But Ukrainian forces have not yet taken control of the entire city. Artillery continued to work in separate areas.

On April 2, the National Police of Ukraine enters the city. A long video of their work to clean up the city has been preserved on the Web. There is everything to understand the atmosphere there - crumpled cars, destroyed buildings, joyful locals, one of whom says that they wanted to shoot him for Ukrainian symbols, but for some reason changed their minds. There are no only bodies scattered around the city.

On the same day, units of the Kiev Territorial Defense entered Bucha from another direction - to clean up. Among them is a detachment of a certain Boatswain. On the footage of their video chronicle, one of the militants asks the question: “There are boys without blue armbands, can they be shot at?” "And then!" - happily replies the other. And this is the key point.

"Boatswain" is a neo-Nazi Sergey Korotkikh , well-known in Russia by the nickname "Malyuta" . At one time, he was one of the leaders of the RNU and the closest associates of another far-right figure , Maxim "Tesak" Martsinkevich . Born in Togliatti, grew up in Belarus. Since 2014, he fought in the Azov battalion.

In Russia, such neo-fascists do not take root, but Ukraine welcomes them with open arms. It was he who gave the go-ahead to fire on people without identification marks. The blue bandages on the sleeves are the identification mark of "friend or foe" of the Ukrainian forces. In order not to open fire on their own from afar. During sweeps, people's nerves are strained to the limit and any little thing is enough to pull the trigger. For example, the lack of an identification mark. Or the presence of another - enemy.

And now let's take a closer look at the video and photo materials published by the Ukrainian side. Yes, it is quite obvious from the not dried blood and not yet stiffened bodies (the nationalists pull them and move them from place to place) that they were not killed on March 30th. But most importantly, most of those killed have white armbands on their sleeves. Who has a ribbon, who has a bandage, who has just a rag.

The white armband is the identification mark of the Russian forces. Nobody forced the locals to put them on, they did it themselves to designate themselves - "we are ours." One of the locals, blogger Vladimir Sklyarov , describes his experience with the Russian military: “They said: “Tell everyone that we will not hurt anyone. Let them hang white sheets on the windows so that we can see that peaceful people live here. Let them be calm. We only burn the Nazis and Bandera.”

This is so, a lyrical digression. What was going on in the city when the militants of the "Boatswain" and other Nazi leaders entered there? Natural cleaning.

They just killed people on the streets without knowing if they had weapons or not. And someone was captured and tortured. Footage from the basement, in which the Russians allegedly shot several people, confirms this. Among the dead are also people with white armbands. Most likely they were killed as "agents of the Russian troops" or "collaborators" who collaborated with the "occupation authorities."

Why didn't civilians take off their white armbands after the withdrawal of Russian troops? Because they didn't know about it. I repeat, for three more days after that, artillery strikes were carried out in the city, people sat in the basements, not sticking out. As soon as the cannonade subsided, they went upstairs and came under fire from their "zahisniks".

Frames with bodies appeared the next day - most likely, the Internet was given to the city, which disappeared during the fighting. At the suggestion of the Ukrainian authorities, the West began to disperse this great hoax of the “Buchan massacre”. As in the summer of 2014, when the Ukrainian front in Donbass was bursting at the seams and Kiev needed a breather, a passenger liner was shot down in the sky over the war zone. And Moscow was immediately blamed for the death of its passengers.

With the provocation in Bucha, it is quite possible that Ukraine, with the support of the West, which should put pressure on Russia, is trying to save its group in Mariupol, which is living out its last days.

Dead rapper's body propped up in club for ‘disrespectful' public viewing
Welcome to the nation's capitol.
[NYPost] It was like the hip-hop equivalent of "Weekend at Bernie’s."

Washington, DC’s Bliss nightclub has apologized over an appalling spectacle in which the body of slain rapper Goonew was reportedly displayed on their stage at his own funeral. The memorial service took place Sunday, weeks after the hip-hopper was shot dead at 24 years old.

"Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends and fans," the venue wrote in a statement, which was shared on Instagram Monday by the Shade Room. "Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration.

"Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire. We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended," the venue continued. "Please keep Goonew’s family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time."

The statement was posted amid trending Twitter footage that reportedly showed the slain rapper, whose real name is Markelle Morrow, apparently propped up onstage at Bliss nightclub while mourners raved around him like an Irish wake. The hip-hopper’s corpse was decked out in a hoodie, a blinged-out watch and a crown.

A source who attended the macabre public viewing, entitled "The Last Show," confirmed that there was a $40 cover charge to enter the venue, the Shade Room wrote in a prior post.

— Backend Pay (@itsopulencebaby) April 4, 2022
While initially unclear if the figure was Goonew’s actual corpse or a mannequin, the general consensus is that the body was, in fact, his.

"During the event, Goonew’s body was propped up on stage, wearing designer clothing and a crown," the Shade Room wrote on Instagram. Meanwhile, per XXLMag, Black Fortune — a rapper who performed at the event — wrote in an Instagram Story: "No this ain’t no wax figure my Brodie went out gansta."

Social media found the display obscene and disrespectful.

"No way goonew mama approved that s—t that’s so sad & disrespectful," wrote one aghast fan on Twitter. Another offered: "if y’all saw that video with Goonew’s body y’all can’t tell me this society ain’t already collapsed ... "

"This is madness," spluttered another gawker on the ’Gram. "WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?"

Even hip-hop icon 50 Cent weighed in on Twitter, writing: "oh s—t ! i just realized what this is."

Meanwhile, another tweeter — reportedly an employee at the bar, expressed shock upon arrival, claiming they were not clued in beforehand about what they witnessed.

"Imagine walking into work and it’s a deceased body on display. They didn’t warn us they didn’t tell us they didn’t even know," they wrote. "When i say I’ve officially been traumatized this year i mean it."

Morrow had reportedly been shot dead by an unknown assailant in District Heights, Maryland, on March 18, per an announcement by the Prince George’s County Police Department, Complex reported.

Once on scene, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound," according to the department. "The victim was taken to a hospital for life-threatening injuries. At approx. 7:30 p.m., the victim was pronounced dead."

Police are currently offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of a suspect in the shooting.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man linked to a series of brutal sexual assaults in the 1980s sentenced to 650 years in prison
[CBSNEWS] A man linked to a series of sexual assaults in central Indiana more than 30 years ago by his DNA on an envelope for a utility bill payment was sentenced Friday to 650 years in prison, prosecutors said.
Eligible for parole in 425 years.
Steven Ray Hessler, 59, of Greensburg, was convicted March 3 of 19 felony charges for crimes against 10 victims between 1982 and 1985.

The charges included two counts of rape, six counts of unlawful deviate conduct and three counts of criminal deviate conduct and one count of robbery.

Investigators said Hessler, masked and armed, would break into homes in the middle of the night and would rape, bind and sexually torture his victims. He eluded authorities by wiping down the scene of the crimes and stealing items he had touched.

Shelby County Prosecutor Brad Landwerlen said that Hessler also struck a male victim with a gun, sending the man into a coma for months. The victim "for years now has been confined to a wheelchair," Landwerlen said.

The prosecution was made more difficult, Landwerlen said, because a previous task force had arrested and charged another local man with the first few attacks in 1983. In an odd turn of events, that man turned out to be Hessler's cousin, he said.
Which is probably the reason he stopped.
The case received a break in 2020 when a detective asked prosecutors if they would pay for samples to be sent to a company that uses the same sort of DNA testing that resulted in the capture of the Golden State Killer. Testing narrowed down the case to Hessler, linked to a DNA sample left at one scene. DNA from the utility bill envelope matched it.
A very clever bit of police work. Well done, guys!
Authorities executed a search warrant at Hessler's home in the early morning hours on August 17, 2020, and "hit upon a gold mine," Landwerlen said. Investigators found photographs stolen from one victim, and computers which showed that he had been tracking down four other victims.

"Steven Ray Hessler is one of the most evil, dangerous, sadistic predators that I've had the pleasure of prosecuting in my 30+ year career," Landwerlen said. "He derived great pleasure from his unnecessarily brutal methods of terrorizing and sexually torturing his victims. I promised the victims early-on that my goal would be that he go to prison the rest of his life, and all involved are very happy that we have achieved that goal."
UNLESS, if he lives longer than 650 more years!

Enough of fake gestures and avoidance tactics. Enough! Sanctions do not work. Turn off the oxygen to the Russian genocide," he said. Morawiecki.

1:09 In Hungary, the election is won by the party of Orban, Putin's main friend in Europe, which prohibits the supply of weapons to Ukraine through its territory, refuses to impose sanctions against Russia and blocks Ukraine's entry into the EU.

Polish-Soviet contradictions, Belarus, Lithuania, the Baltic States at beginning of 1919
Direct Translation via Google Translate.
by Oleg Airapetov

[REGNUM] One of the most hostile neighbors of the Soviet republics, and then the USSR, was Poland. The end of the First World War gave her a chance for a revival. Already on November 10, 1918, under the influence of news from Berlin, where the revolution was going on, the German garrison began to be disarmed in Warsaw. The pockets of resistance could not change anything. Soldiers' Soviets were formed, the army wanted to return home.

#2  ...Sadly, the Poles weren't so much interested in peacefully rebuilding their nation after a few centuries as they were interested in Revenge(TM). Winston Churchill may have said it best about the land of my fathers: "There are few virtues that the Poles do not possess...and there are few mistakes they have ever avoided."

Why I post this.

The Russian civil war has never been told to this extent and detail in English (to my knowledge) until this guy and regnum.ru started with the series.

#3  Court documents show that Martin — also listed as Dandrae Martin in some public documents — has an extensive arrest record.

In 2014, records show, he was convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence upon a spouse or partner in Riverside County and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Two years later, he was convicted of attempting to commit aggravated assault in Maricopa County and served a stint in an Arizona prison.

Two years after that, he was convicted of criminal damage, but another charge — assault causing fear of physical injury — was dismissed.

#8  My comments initially are now consistent with opinion of contacts locally. The some of the RAP concert, down at the Mall, attendee's were on K Street, a wide city street for pedestrian and streetcar traffic only, and an encounter with patrons of an Hispanic-themed bar. Apparently some form of altercation ensued and some wakandan street respect was administered semi-randomly.

Government Corruption
Corporate News Outlets Again 'Confirm' the Same False Story, While Many Refuse to Correct it
Posted from a comment yesterday by our own Unavinter Ulaitch.
[Glenn Greenwald - May 3, 2021]
One of the primary plagues of corporate journalism, which I have documented more times than I can count, just reared its ugly head again to deceive millions of people with fake news. When one large news outlet publishes a false story based on whispers from anonymous security state agents with the CIA or FBI, other news outlets quickly purport that they have "independently confirmed" the false story, in order to bolster its credibility (oh, it must be true since other outlets have also confirmed it).

This is an obvious scam — they have not "independently confirmed" anything but rather merely acted as servants to the same lying security state agents who planted the original false story — but they do it over and over, creating the deceitful perception that a fake story has been "confirmed" by multiple outlets, thus bolstering its credibility in the public mind. It was the favored tactic for spreading debunked Russiagate frauds and is still used. One of the most vivid examples occurred in December, 2017, when CNN falsely reported what it hyped as "a major bombshell": that Donald Trump, Jr. had advance access to the WikiLeaks archive. Within an hour, NBC News’ Ken Dilanian and CBS News both claimed they had "independently confirmed" this fairy tale. When it turned out that it was a complete lie, all based on a false date on an email to Trump Jr., these outlets embarrassingly corrected it hours later and then simply moved on as if it never happened, never explaining how multiple outlets could possibly have all "independently confirmed" the same blatant falsehood.

On Thursday night, The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources (of course), claimed that the FBI gave a "defensive briefing" to Rudy Giuliani in 2019, before he traveled to Ukraine, that he was being targeted by a Russian disinformation campaign to hurt Joe Biden's candidacy, yet he ignored the FBI's warnings and went anyway. The Post also claimed that the right-wing news outlet OANN was similarly briefed. The claim about Giuliani not only predictably ricocheted all over social media and cable news — where, as usual, it was uncritically treated as Truth — but it was shortly thereafter "independently confirmed" by both NBC News’ de facto CIA spokesman Ken Dilanian along with The New York Times.

What was the problem with this story? It was totally false. The FBI never briefed Giuliani on any such thing. As a result, The Washington Post had to append this "correction" — meaning a retraction — to the top of its viral story:

#1  Ken Dilanian is a tool. Most of the "national security" reporting from D.C. consists of fables, spin, bullshit planted by anonymous "senior Pentagon officials" and "intelligence analysts."

#2  Uhhh.... the entire reason for a defensive briefing is so you CAN go. Go with a little warning of what you might face and how to...defend yourself from the threat. That and last time I checked, the USG cannot restrict the travel of private citizen barring a legal process/order.
