Senator Kyrsten Sinema Agrees to Senate Green New Deal Spending and Tax Proposal
[THECONSERVATIVETREEHOUSE] Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema has announced her support for the senate climate change spending and tax proposal after some modifications to the new taxation.

To support the hedge fund donors, Senator Sinema insisted the carried interest loophole tax provision be removed and instead replaced with a corporate tax on stock buybacks. Any time a corporation wants to buy back their own shares of stock, they will now pay the U.S. government a tax for doing so; at least that’s the ¹intent.

DeSantis Sends Cops To Physically Remove Suspended 'Soros-Backed' State Attorney
[ZEROHEDGE] Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren for 'picking and choosing which laws to enforce based on his personal agenda,' and has appointed Susan Lopez as his replacement during the suspension.

Warren, who had served the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, has most recently refused to follow state policy criminalizing child sacrifice abortion in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade - and repeatedly refused to enforce laws cracking down on child sex-change surgeries, according to DeSantis.

The liberal state attorney also declined to prosecute 67 protesters arrested in George Floyd demonstrations, and said in 2017 that he would only pursue the death penalty
"in the very worst cases," and not where "mental illness played a role."

"We are suspending Soros-backed 13th circuit state attorney Andrew Warren for neglecting his duties as he pledges not to uphold the laws of the state," DeSantis' office said in a statement, per Fox News.

Update: DeSantis sent state police to physically remove Warren from his office, "with access only to retrieve his personal belongings, and (ii) to ensure that no files, papers, documents, notes, records, computers, or removable storage media are removed from the Office of the State Attorney..."

DeSantis made the announcement at a Thursday presser surrounded by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and others.

"The constitution of Florida has vested the veto power in the governor, not in individual state attorneys," DeSantis said. "so, when you flagrantly violate your oath of office .. when you make yourself above the law, you have violated your duty and you have neglected your duty, and you are displaying a lack of competence to be able to perform those duties," he continued.

"And so today we are suspending state attorney Andrew Warren, effective immediately," DeSantis concluded to applause.

Army Working on Critical Infrastructure
[ArmyTimes] The Army Tactical Brassiere is a product undergoing testing at the Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center.

In the fall, the Soldier Center’s Design Pattern Prototype Team is expected to present an initial evaluation to the Army Uniform Board, which would establish the Army Tactical Brassiere as an official program of record.

“If the AUB makes it a program of record, we would want to promote that as a [Soldier Center] accomplishment and win for female Soldiers across the Army,” wrote Jeff Sisto, a public affairs officer with Soldier Center, in an email to Army Times.

The bra’s development began with a survey given to female soldiers on what type of functionality and preferences should be considered during initial design. It has been labeled a “tactical rather than sportswear item,” according to Soldier Touchpoints.

It’s meant to integrate into existing body armor and give an added level of protection to female soldiers.

“This means that designers are evaluating options such as the inclusion of flame-retardant fabrics and expertly layered compression, structural and protective materials while also taking into account the importance of accurate sizing, reliable comfort, moisture management and breathability,” Touchpoints noted.

“The overall goal is to produce garments that not only protect the user, but reduce the cognitive burden on the female Soldier caused by discomfort and ill fit,” said Ashley Cushon, clothing designer and project lead for the ATB at the DEVCOM Soldier Center. “Achieving this will improve the Soldier’s overall readiness and performance levels, allowing them to focus on their mission,” she explained.

This effort is part of an ongoing campaign to tailor military uniform options to diverse body types. And there are currently four prototype models. Concepts A and B are pullover sports bras with padding and structured seams and a shelf style, respectively. Concept C is a compression bra with cross-back straps. Concept D has a zippered front closure with contoured seams and adjustable cross back straps.

#4  Well meaning idiots — they seek the Holy Grail. They won’t find it, sadly, and if they come out with their own product instead of sending female soldiers to the nearest Nordstrom with $200 and orders to be properly fitted before they purchase anything — around two thirds of women do not realize they are wearing the wrong size bra, which is why they’re so often so uncomfortable — I guarantee that about 90% of the women will end up in something actively painful because it neither fits nor meets their needs.

Only small busted women (A to B cup) can or should wear a pull-over shelf bra. Anything bigger than that — for physically active women — needs an encapsulation bra, with or without underwires, that is individually fitted to take into account not just cup size and chest diameter, but half a dozen factors altogether. Ignoring any of those factors will result in something that is not only uncomfortable to wear but can cause painful sores. Different bra designers orient their products to this or that combination of factors, such that, for instance, none of the five females that passed through the wife household were comfortable in the same size/brand of bra, and their sizes changed with weight gain/loss and muscularity gain/loss, though I drew the line at purchasing several sizes at once to accommodate time of the month. It was frustrating to discover how often we needed to go back to be properly fitted for the stupid things.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel launches new Gaza operation, kills top Islamic Jihad commander UPDATE: PIJ confirms kill
[Jpost] Israel takes initiative and launches widescale attack on northern Gaza in Operation Breaking Dawn. Iron Dome batteries deployed throughout Israel.

The IDF struck targets in the northern Gaza Strip on Friday saying it has begun Operation. Breaking Dawn against the Islamic Jihad.

Several targets in the northern Gaza Strip were hit, with reports of casualties including the head of the group’s northern command Taysir al-Jabari who replaced Baha abu al-Ata who was killed in an IAF strike in 2019. Jabari, who was also responsible for coordination between the group and Hamas, was killed at 4.16 PM in Shuja'iyya.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported eight dead including a five-year-old girl and 44 injured.

According to the IDF, he commanded over the launching of hundreds of rockets during Operation Guardian of the Walls last year, including anti-tank-guided missile attacks.

The IDF said that they had received a specific warning that he was planning an attack against Israeli targets before the arrest of Bassem Saadi earlier in the week in an arrest raid in the West Bank.

In addition, IAF jets and drones targeted two cells that were on the way to carry out anti-tank missile attacks, killing at least 12 PIJ operatives.

Following the targeted killings, which was done by jets and armed drones, the IDF warned that the group would likely respond with rocket fire toward the Israeli homefront. The military has therefore placed Iron Dome batteries in the area of Jerusalem, Beersheba and others in order to intercept any projectile fired by the group.

Additional reservists have been called up, including ground troops and armored corp.

The IDF said it hopes Hamas will stay out of the fighting. Earlier on Friday afternoon, it allowed fuel into Gaza to prevent a total shutdown of the sole power plant in the Strip, which already operates on a limited capacity. Without the plant, Gaza would be dependent on external power largely from Israel which provides 120 megawatts daily.

Residents of the Gaza envelope were asked to remain close to shelters should there be any rocket fire. The IDF has also alerted residents up to 80km from the Gaza Strip, including Tel Aviv, that there could be a risk of rocket fire.

Prime Minister Yair Lapid said that Israel 'won't allow terrorist organizations to set the agenda in the Gaza Strip and threaten the citizens of the State of Israel. Anyone who wants to harm Israel must know that we will get to them. Security forces will act against the Islamic Jihad terrorists to remove the threat from the citizens of Israel."

Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz plan to hold a security assessment at the Kirya in Tel Aviv at 6:30.

Israel closed the Erez crossing on Tuesday, blocking 14,000 Gazans who have permits to enter Israel to work.

“Those who harm the ability of 14,000 workers to make a living, who cause produce to sit and spoil at crossing points, and who lead to electricity and food shortages - hurt the people of Gaza first and foremost, and will have to take responsibility [for this suffering],”he said.

The leader of Islamic Jihad, Ziad Nahalka who is based in the Syrian capital of Damascus, was in Tehran on Thursday and met with Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi. Tehran funds and equips the Gaza-based terror group.

Gantz said that security forces are preparing for all scenarios, on all fronts including in the north and the center of the country and that the IDF will continue its operational activity in all sectors as needed.

Jabari Tango Uniform

[LegalInsurrection] The Israeli military has eliminated a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist group. The high-ranking PIJ operative, Taysir Jabari, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza after days of standoff between Israel and Gaza-based terrorist groups.

The PIJ also confirmed the killing of its “the great jihadist commander” in an IDF strike. “The Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine and its military wing the Al-Quds Brigade mourn the great jihadist commander Tayseer al-Jabari ‘Abu Mahmud’, who was killed in a Zionist assassination in Gaza City,” the jihadi group said in a statement.

Several other terrorists were also taken out in the IDF strike. “The Israel Defense Forces estimates that between 10-20 Palestinian terrorists have been killed in the Gaza Strip amid the opening wave of airstrikes against the Islamic Jihad,” The Times of Israel reported. “According to the military, six sites were hit by fighter jets and armed drones,” the news website added.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Shocking ‘execution style' double homicide in home chills rural Florida community
[PEHAL News] It has been so a few years since Florida’s Baker County had a homicide that Sheriff Scotty Rhoden says he can’t keep in mind the final one.

He now has two, nevertheless, and the surprising particulars are terrifying folks in this sparsely populated county of about 30,000.

Two males had been found shot to death Monday, Aug. 1, at a rural home outdoors of Macclenny and the crime scene was grisly, Rhoden stated at a news conference. Macclenny is about 30 miles west of Jacksonville.

"Autopsies were performed. ... We can say that these two victims were brutally murdered and may have been targeted," Rhoden stated.

"Let’s make no mistake about it: This was an execution-style murder."

Much in regards to the case stays a thriller, with no recognized suspects and no recognized motive.

The victims have been recognized as David "Daniel" Sigers, 54, and James Michael "Bo" Thomas, 49, in accordance with a information launch.

Investigators believed they had been shot over the weekend.

The killings had been found at 11:25 a.m. Monday, when the Baker County Sheriff’s Office bought a report of our bodies in a home on Sawtooth Road, not removed from the Georgia state line.

"Deputies entered the residence and found two adult males in different parts of the house deceased from what appear to be gunshot wounds," the sheriff’s workplace stated.

A $5,000 reward is being supplied for suggestions resulting in an arrest of the suspects, however the sheriff’s workplace has been tight-lipped about particulars.

Among the main points not revealed: what number of instances the boys had been shot, why investigators consider they had been focused, and why the crime scene is described as "brutal."

What Rhoden did say is that there is no such thing as a proof the killings are drug associated.

Sigers had no prison historical past and Thomas solely had "some minor misdemeanor offenses" on his report, officers say.

Investigators are asking neighbors to report in the event that they noticed any unusual or uncommon exercise over the weekend. "There’s nothing that’s too small," Rhoden says.

An obituary reviews it occurred at Sigers’ home, the place he maintained "a quiet, private life." He "was a lifelong resident of Baker County," who performed nostril guard for the Baker High Wildcats soccer staff and served in the U.S. Army, the obituary says.

Troopers: Drunk woman arrested after driving golf cart on I-95
[News4 Jax] BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A woman with an open bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in a bag was arrested for driving a golf cart on Florida’s busiest interstate while drunk, according to an arrest report.

The 58-year-old woman was arrested Saturday night on the shoulder of Interstate 95. She is now facing misdemeanor charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place and resisting an officer without violence.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, a semi-truck driver spotted the woman driving in the golf cart in the center lane of Interstate 95 in Brevard County, which is the heart of Florida’s Space Coast. The truck driver "advised she observed the driver of the golf cart passing out while driving," the report said.

The truck driver used her semi to steer the golf cart to the shoulder of the interstate, troopers said.

More dividends from the recent Pelosi - Taiwan junket
BEIJING (AP) — China says it is canceling or suspending dialogue with the U.S. on issues from climate change to military relations and anti-drug efforts in retaliation for a visit this week to Taiwan by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The measures announced Friday are the latest in a promised series of steps intended to punish Washington for allowing the visit to the island it claims as its own territory to be annexed by force if necessary. China is holding threatening military exercises in six zones off Taiwan’s coasts.

Missiles were also fired over Taiwan, defense officials told state media. China opposes the self-governing island having its own engagements with foreign governments.

The Foreign Ministry said dialogue between area commanders and defense department heads would be canceled, along with talks on military maritime safety. Cooperation on returning illegal immigrants, criminal investigations, transnational crime, illegal drugs and climate change would be suspended, the ministry said.

[Mil News] An apparent internal FBI document that leaked Tuesday lists the Betsy Ross American flag, the Gadsden "Don’t Tread on Me" flag, symbols of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, and other imagery as symbols of "Militia Violent Extremists" or MVEs.

The purported FBI documents were published by the undercover journalism organization Project Veritas, which said it obtained the document from a whistleblower in the FBI.

The document is labeled "Unclassified/Law Enforcement Sensitive" and contains the "FBI Internal Use Only" disclaimer. The document states "the following symbols are used by Anti-Government or Anti-Authority Violent Extremists, specifically Militia Violent Extremists."

The document then lists the symbols:

#9  “The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people’s door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy… but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone.”

Science & Technology
Scientists Create The First Synthetic Embryos
[Daily Wire] Researchers in Israel have created the world’s first "synthetic embryos" in a landmark study, without using sperm or egg cells.

Scientists at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel, were able to make stem cells taken from mice form early embryo-like structures, including a gastrointestinal tract, a beating heart, and the early stages of a brain. The embryos are considered "synthetic" because they were not derived from a fertilized egg — but preliminary results suggest that "synthetic embryos" are fairly similar to natural embryos.

"Remarkably, we show that embryonic stem cells generate whole synthetic embryos, meaning this includes the placenta and yolk sac surrounding the embryo," said Dr. Jacob Hanna, who headed the study. "We are truly excited about this work and its implications."

Researchers believe that this breakthrough could offer alternatives to animal experimentation and pave the way for new stem cell growth for human transplants. Skin cells could be potentially transformed into bone marrow stem cells, for example, to help treat patients suffering from leukemia. The demand for donated organs often outstrips the supply, and the immune system naturally attacks foreign cells, requiring already weakened patients to take immunosuppressant drugs after a transplant. Being able to grow tissues from a patient’s DNA could bypass many of the compatibility issues current transplants face and greatly increase the availability of the treatment.

The synthetic embryos are not thought to have the potential to develop into fully-formed animals, and only 0.5% of the observed stem cells combined to grow distinctive tissue, although those tissues seemed fully functional and "95%" similar to natural tissues in basic structure.

Synthetic embryos failed to develop further when they were implanted into female mice. Human experimentation is purely hypothetical at this stage, although Hanna is optimistic about prospects for future research.

"In Israel and many other countries, such as the US and the UK, it is legal and we have ethical approval to do this with human-induced pluripotent stem cells. This is providing an ethical and technical alternative to the use of embryos," Hanna said.

Other researchers are more uncertain about the practical and ethical prospects of future experimentation.

"Synthetic human embryos are not an immediate prospect. We know less about human embryos than mouse embryos and the inefficiency of the mouse synthetic embryos suggests that translating the findings to human requires further development," Dr. James Briscoe, a researcher at London’s Francis Crick Institute, said to The Guardian. "Now is a good time to consider the best legal and ethical framework to regulate research and use of human synthetic embryos and to update the current regulations."

TV Series Based On Michelle Obama Gets Cancelled After Just One Season
[Gateway] A series on the Showtime network called ’The First Lady’ that was based on Michelle Obama has been cancelled after just one season.

This is somewhat surprising, when you consider the way Ms. Obama is covered by the media. According to them, she is one of the most beloved and popular figures in the country.

If that’s true, why didn’t the show last? Weren’t people watching it?

#1  ...Because the only people watching it were the ones telling us how beloved and popular she is.

True story - when Barack was running the first time, Michelle came to Georgetown SC (where we lived at the time) to visit an aunt and do a bit of handshaking. Now, Georgetown is like a lot of places on the SC coast - large African American populations who live on land given to them in 1865 by a certain William T. Sherman during his stroll up the coast from Savannah that year.

These people are fiercely proud of their history and their heritage, and rightfully so. In '08, Michelle was one of their own, coming back to show how far they had come. The media was out in force, as to be expected.

And they outnumbered - by some considerable distance - the people who were there to see her. Should have been a clue then.

Dirtbag Chris Wray Corfirms that Same FBI Supervisor Behind Failed Whitmer Entrapment Scheme Is Leading Jan. 6 Investigation in Washington DC
[Gateway] Earlier today dirtbag FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that the supervisor who headed the agency’s Detroit Field Office when FBI operatives allegedly entrapped people into planning to kidnap Michigan’s governor is currently in charge of the D.C. Field Office.

Director Wray told Senator Ted Cruz, "[Steven M.] D’Antuono was the special agent in charge of the ... Detroit field office and is now the assistant director in charge of the Washington field office."

Steven D’Antuono was leading the Michigan Whitmer entrapment scheme that was concocted by the FBI to damage Donald Trump, make wretched Governor Whitmer look sympathetic, and to ruin the lives of several poor Michigan men in order to prop up the Democrat Party.

US Air Force charges airman over ‘deliberate’ explosion on base in Syria in April
[IsraelTimes] Service member facing slew of criminal charges for blast that injured 4; Pentagon says explosives were placed in airbase’s ammunition area and shower facility

The US Air Force has filed criminal charges against an airman in connection with an April explosion that injured US troops at a base in eastern Syria.

Tech. Sgt. David D. Dezwaan Jr. is facing several charges, including dereliction of duty, destroying military property, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault, in the blast that injured four service members. He has been held in confinement by the Air Force since June.

The US military initially reported that the injuries were caused by artillery or another form of indirect fire. But the Pentagon later said the April 7 attack was carried out by the "deliberate placement of explosive charges" by one or more individuals at an ammunition holding area and shower facility on the base, known as Green Village.

The Air Force, in a statement Thursday, said a preliminary hearing date has been set for August 23 at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

Dezwaan, an explosive ordnance disposal specialist, also was charged with accessing a government computer with an unauthorized purpose and obtaining classified information.

The blasts hit two support buildings. Four service members were evaluated for minor injuries and possible traumatic brain injuries.

Officials have provided no insight into any motivation for the attack.
The April 7 bombing that took place at the base known as Green Village, which is east of the Euphrates River in Syria and adjacent to major oil fields.

Several hundred U.S. and coalition forces are stationed at Green Village as they train local forces to fight remnants of the Islamic State terrorist group, according to the Pentagon.

Operation Inherent Resolve is a U.S.-led international coalition under U.S. Central Command that targets ISIS, primarily in Iraq and Syria.

Dezwaan joined the Air Force in October 2007 and is attached to the 775th Civil Engineer Squadron at Hill AFB. He has been awarded the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal, according to Stefanek.

Europe
Swedish Migration Minister Wants to Limit Non-Nordic Population in Troubled Areas
[Summit] Swedish Migration Minister Anders Ygeman has suggested that Sweden should follow the example of Denmark in seeking to place a limit on the population of non-Nordic migrants living in troubled areas.

In an interview with Dagens Nyheter (DN) newspaper, Ygeman acknowledged that ghettos where migrants have congregated with seemingly little desire to integrate
...this mostly means Moslem colonists, plus a few of the rowdier Eastern Europeans...
have caused huge problems.

His solution is to implement a similar policy to Denmark, which has started demolishing parts of migrant ghettos and moving people elsewhere in a bid to put a stop to ’parallel societies’ that breed crime and social dislocation.

Under the proposed new policy, a minimum of 50 per cent of residents of any area would have to be Swedish or from Denmark, Iceland, Finland, or Norway.

"I think it is bad to have areas where the majority are of non-Nordic descent," Ygeman told DN.

"If you want to learn Swedish, you have to practice. If you live in an area where you can get by with the language of your native country, it becomes enormously more difficult to learn and develop the language," he added.

"If, in addition, you have a job where you can get by in the language of your native country, where will you practice Swedish? In that context, I think having that kind of goal can say something important," explained Ygeman.

The government in Denmark is currently implementing a policy that mandates areas have a population that is comprised of no more than 30 per cent of people of non-western origin.

Sweden has notoriously faced massive problems with integrating the huge number of migrants it has allowed to enter the country over the past three decades.

As we previously reported, having been one of the safest countries in Europe 20 years ago before mass uncontrolled immigration, Sweden is now the continent’s second most dangerous in terms of gun crime behind only Croatia.

Iran holds mass funeral for Revolutionary Guard officers killed in Syria years ago
[IsraelTimes] ’Headless general’ Abdollah Eskandari, known for his capture and beheading by Syrian rebels in 2014, among bodies of five fighters recently recovered from Syria

Mourners poured out onto the streets of Tehran on Thursday to pay their respects to several Iranian officers killed in Syria, a testament to the human cost of Iran’s involvement in the civil war and a public display of nationalist fervor as nuclear talks resume in Vienna.

The remains of the paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard members were recently recovered in Khan Tuman, a village 9 miles (about 15 kilometers) south of Aleppo, Syria’s largest city that was for years the war’s most important front line.

The Guard identified the five deceased fighters, providing few details about their deaths with the exception of General Abdollah Eskandari — a decorated commander who became known as the "headless general" after his capture and beheading by Syrian rebels in May 2014. Their bodies were repatriated after a lengthy process of recovery and DNA analysis.

group and other gunnies in Syria.

Funeral marches snaked through cities across the country this week, beginning Monday in the northeastern city of Mashhad before moving south, returning each officer’s body to his birthplace for burial.

The thousands that gathered in Tehran’s streets on Thursday evening waved red flags to mark Ashura, a commemoration of the 7th-century death of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Hussein, a revered figure in Shiite Islam. Chants of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" rang out from the crowds.

In a speech, Guard commander General Hossein Salami hailed the return of the fighters’ remains and the survival of Assad’s government.

"We wanted the [Assad] system to remain but the US, Europe, and the Arab world did not want it. Now see who remains in the country," Salami declared.

Iran arrests 10 Islamic State members, blames Israel for sending them
[IsraelTimes] Tehran claims Mossad despatched ’10 ISIS terrorists’ in plot to attack worshipers on the Shiite holy day of Ashura

Iran’s intelligence ministry said Thursday it had arrested 10 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group suspects who were planning attacks targeting religious commemorations, days ahead of the major Shiite mourning ritual of Ashura.

The ministry said that "10 ISIS terrorists," using another name for the Islamic State group, had been arrested, adding that they had been "sent to carry out several terror operations among the mourners."

Two intelligence agents were maimed in a shootout during the arrests, it added.

Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
also accused arch-foe Israel of using the jihadists as attackers, claiming the men were sent following "last week’s big failure in the earth-shattering kaboom of a sensitive center" that it blamed on "separatist terrorists." Following that failed attack, Iran’s intelligence ministry on July 27 said it had arrested agents linked to Israel’s Mossad spy agency, who were also members of an outlawed Kurdish rebel group.

"The Zionist criminal regime... this time around, tried to carry out its terrorist operations through takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
IS teams," the statement added, referring to Israel.

Iran is currently commemorating the first 10 days of the Islamic holy month of Muharram, culminating in Ashura on Monday, when worshipers throng mosques and take part in processions. Ashura marks the death of the revered Shiite Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Mohammed.

The intelligence ministry said the men had entered from neighboring Iraq and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, and were arrested in operations over the past three days in western and southern Iran.

A report on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
showed equipment reportedly confiscated from the suspects, including a sniper rifle, knives, phones and laptop computers. It also showed one of the arrested men, who was blindfolded.

The ministry called the men "takfiris," a term usually used in Iran and other countries to refer to Sunni holy warriors. Iran has been involved in the fight against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria through military "advisers."

In June 2017, the Islamic State claimed a twin attack targeting the Iranian parliament complex and the mausoleum of the founder of the first supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, killing 17 people.

Last June, Iran hanged a Sunni holy warrior who was sentenced to death for killing two Shiite holy mans and wounding another in April, with officials blaming "takfiri elements" for the attack.

Afghanistan
Fighting in Karta-e-Sakhi Between Islamic Emirate Forces and Daesh
[ToloNews] At least four members of the ISIS group were killed and one person was detained in operations conducted earlier this week by the Islamic Emirate forces in Karta-e- Sakhi area of Kabul city, Kabul security department said.

The festivities between the Islamic Emirate forces and ISIS members lasted for many hours.

"Those who were trying to target civilians, four of them were killed and one of them was detained. In this operation, one member of the Islamic Emirate force was killed and another one was maimed. Also, a policewoman was killed," said Khalid Zadran, a front man for the Kabul security department.

Islamic Emirate front man Zabiullah Mujahid said on Twitter that four ISIS members were killed and one was arrested in an operation by Islamic Emirate forces in the Karta-e- Sakhi area of Kabul.

Mujahid said the ISIS members were intending to attack Shia citizens gathering in the Kart-e-Sakhi Ziarat during the days of Mahram. Zabiullah Mujahid also tweeted that ISIS was going to attack during the Muharram ceremony.

"ISIS had a plan to attack Shia citizens that gather in Karta-e-Sakhi on the Muharram days," he said.

The residents said that the festivities continued many hours with the two sides using heavy and light weapons.

"It was around noon that the gunfire was heard, and it happened in this house. The sound of the blast was also heard," said Sayeed Rafi, residents of Kabul.

ISIS has taken responsibility for a number of deadly attacks, most of which targeted civilians, in the past several months in Afghanistan.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian military chief pleads for return of artillery to Donbass -- Updated
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny demanded from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to urgently return to the eastern front the artillery that was being prepared for the counteroffensive in Kherson. This was reported by the TG-channel "Resident" with reference to a source in Zelensky's office.

Our source in the OP said that Zaluzhny is asking Zelensky to urgently return artillery to the eastern front, which was being prepared for the counteroffensive. Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being leveled to the ground in Pesky/Avdievka/Bakhmut/Soledar Seversk, and no one is conducting counterbattery work, because of the requirement The President's Office to disrupt the referendum in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Zaluzhny insists on curtailing preparations for the counteroffensive and switching to defense, so as not to lose the Donetsk region now," the channel writes, citing a source.

In turn, Alexander Kazakov, adviser to the head of the Just Russia For Truth faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had indeed transferred a significant part of the artillery and MLRS to the Kherson direction, removing them from the Donbass front.

"They themselves believed in their propaganda that Russia does not have the resources for an offensive in the Donbass. As a result, we were able to break through the front in Peski, Avdievka, Artyomovsk and Soledar," Kazakov said.

Earlier, Zaluzhny had already reported to President Zelensky about the difficult situation in the fortified areas in the Donetsk region, and asked to cancel the promised attack on Kherson. In the event of an offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Kherson, the Russian army will be able to use the territories around the city as bait to destroy the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the steppes. Also, the data of the Ukrainian General Staff on the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was leaked to the network.

It turned out that the losses of the Ukrainian military exceed 191,000 killed and wounded, and no one counts the missing in action. Information about the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeared in Ukrainian channels with reference to the data of the General Staff. It follows from the documents that the military-political leadership of Ukraine hides the plight of the Ukrainian military.

From Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets:
Alexander Khodakovsky, founder and organizer of the Vostok battalion, reports a decrease in the intensity of the work of the combined arms artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass.

The activity of electronic warfare systems has also noticeably decreased - UAVs fly more freely than just a week ago. Aerial reconnaissance shows fresh traces of equipment that appeared after the rains, but we do not find the equipment itself. One of the assumptions is the transfer of resources to another (other) directions.

This is indirectly confirmed by Ukrainian sources.

In their opinion, the retreat of the Ukrainan military in the fortified areas created for eight years in Pesky and Avdievka is largely due to the acute shortage of artillery in this direction in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Armed forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being transferred to the Kherson direction, where by August 24, Ukrainian independence day, Zelensky demands an attempt to "counterattack".

Obviously, the Armed Forces of Ukraine still have cannon fodder, they regularly bring it up, albeit of an increasingly lower quality, but artillery systems are already lacking.

What does this say? The fact that without the help of the collective West and NATO, which are actively supplying (but already fizzling out) to Kiev tanks, aircraft, artillery systems, Ukraine would have collapsed long ago as a project into the singularity of the

RF Armed Forces are conducting a special operation not only against the Ukrainian regime, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation oppose the war machine of the entire collective West.\

ISIS kills five Iraqi soldiers in Diyala, says local official
[Rudaw] A suspected Islamic State

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) attack in Diyala province late Tuesday killed five soldiers of the Iraqi army, a local official told Rudaw amid a recent uptick in attacks by the terror group.

The five soldiers of the Iraqi army were killed by an ISIS sniper attack near Kashkul village nearby Hamrin dam, local security head Shamal Abdulrahman told Rudaw’s Hunar Hamid.

The attack coincides with a visit by a Peshmerga ministry delegation headed by Minister Shorsh Ismail to the US to discuss "the continuing threat of ISIS," claiming the terror group remains "a serious threat to regional security and stability."

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani last week warned of the recent increase of ISIS attacks after a spate of assaults killed nine people across four provinces overnight.

Another ISIS attack in Diyala left five civilians dead and three others maimed, with the victims all being from the same family.

ISIS controlled vast lands in Iraq in 2014, but the terror group became fully devoid of territorial control in 2017. While the group lacks any territory, it still continues to pose security risks through abductions, hit-and-run attacks, and bombings.

In its propaganda magazine on Thursday, ISIS claimed to have conducted 13 attacks in Iraq from July 21 to July 27, killing and injuring 30 people.

Ethiopian army generals in Somalia after cross-border Al-Shabaab attacks
[Garowe] A fortnight after a series of al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
unprecedented attacks within the territory of Æthiopia, Addis Ababa has dispatched a high-level military delegation to Somalia, paying a visit to border states, including HirShabelle, Jubaland, Somaliland, and Southwest states.

The delegation is led by Major General Tesfaye Ayalew, the Chief of Defense Forces of Æthiopia National Defense Forces [ENDF] arrived at Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of Southwest. Also present was the Somali region's Temporary Security Command Post commander.

At Baidoa, the team was received by Sector III Commander within African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] Brigadier General Zewdu Setargie. The delegation briefed the Chief Commander about the current peace and security situation in the region and the general activities of al-Shabaab bad boys.

Further, the army chiefs discussed a number of issues regarding cooperation on security and peace, with the defeat of al-Shabaab forces of Evil being on the major agenda. al-Shabaab has been making inroads within Æthiopia, with major attacks taking place two weeks ago.

At Jubaland, the delegation met with Vice President Mohamud Sayid Aden, where they condemned al-Shabaab continued destruction of the economic and social progress of the country. The teams also discussed special cooperation between Jubaland and Æthiopia.

Brigadier General Lucas Kuto, on his part, said that decisive actions must be taken to prevent the terrorist al-Shabaab from seizing and using various explosives and detonators, as well as from the chaos it was spreading using social media, Addis Ababa Standard reports.

Lieutenant colonel Sintayehu Leta commented that the bad boy group was deceiving the fathers, mothers, and community elders in the region and "taking their children and training them for their nefarious purposes".

He emphasized that the bad boy group must be prevented from using especially the border areas of Dolo and Moyale to make incursions into Æthiopia.

Æthiopia said last week it had killed over 100 al-Shabaab bad boys, but some reports indicated that over 200 forces of Evil may have crossed over the border. This was the first time the forces of Evil were raiding the Horn of Africa nation, which is struggling with instability.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
despite their trip to Somalia, it's not clear whether Addis Ababa consulted Mogadishu before deploying the military delegation to Somalia. Æthiopia has been a major security stakeholder in Somalia, having contributed over 3,500 soldiers to the country.

Æthiopia had previously tried to use the breakaway region of Somaliland to create a buffer zone in the fight against al-Shabaab forces of Evil in the country. Last week, the Æthiopian troops crossed into Somalia where they created a buffer zone last week.

Southeast Asia
Deep South rebels seek immunity during public consultations in peace process
[BenarNews] Negotiators for the main rebel group in Thailand’s Deep South are asking for diplomatic immunity so they can consult the public in the border region about the grinding of the peace processor without being arrested, they told news hounds Wednesday.

Barisan Revolusi Nasional chief peace negotiator Anas Abdulrahman said his side made the request to Thailand’s government during two days of meetings with their Thai counterparts in Malaysia this week, and that BRN was considering the main proposal from the other side — a second pause in violence, but one that would last at least three months.

"We discussed about the mechanism ... for the public consultations on the ground ... that our representatives involved in the peace talks and the public consultations be given diplomatic immunity," Anas said during a post-meetings presser at a hotel in Petaling Jaya, near Kuala Lumpur.

He said the two sides also discussed the Ramadan Peace Initiative, a successful 40-day truce that they had observed in April and May after agreeing to a pause in hostilities following their previous round of in-person talks brokered by Malaysia.

Technical teams from both sides will meet soon to discuss these matters in detail before the next round of official talks — the fourth this year — that will likely take place in October, Anas told BenarNews.

When BenarNews asked him about it on Wednesday, Lt. Gen. Thira Daehwa, the secretary for the Thai peace talks panel, said the Thai side was open to discussing the immunity issue more with BRN.

In response to questions about the Thai side’s new proposal for a 108-day truce — which would go from Aug. 15 to Nov. 30 and cover much of the Buddhist Lent — Anas, who is also known as Hipni Mareh, said BRN needed time to consider the matter.

BRN is the largest of armed separatist groups in Thailand’s far south. Many of its leaders, members and officials are believed to be living across the border in neighboring Malaysia, and are the targets of arrest warrants in the heavily militarized Deep South.

Such immunity for wanted BRN members was necessary to let its representatives participate in bilateral monitoring of peace-related measures in the conflict zone and to enable them to consult with communities in the Deep South without fear of being stopped or arrested, a retired former member of Thai delegations in past peace talks with southern rebel groups had explained to BenarNews.

Under past agreements, the government waived all criminal charges against wanted BRN officials to let them take part in consultations with the public, and even allowed them to stay at Thai military premises for the duration, Thai Army Maj. Gen. Nakrob Boonbuathong had said.

BRN and other separatist groups have been waging a decades-long insurgency against Buddhist-majority Thailand in the Deep South, a predominantly Moslem and Malay-speaking region that encompasses Pattani, Narathiwat, Yala provinces, and four districts of Songkhla province.

Since the insurgency flared up again in January 2004, more than 7,000 people have been killed and 13,500 others injured in violence across the region, according to Deep South Watch, a local think-tank.

U.S. Gives AU troops in Somalia Armored Vehicles to Fight Al-Shabaab
[Garowe] To boost its obligations to degrade al-Shabaab

...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has taken delivery of 24 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), donated by the United States government.

The specialized vehicles will be used by the Djiboutian contingent in joint military operations with the Somali National Army (SNA) in and around Beletweyne and other areas in the Hiraan region.

Handing over the APCs at ATMIS Headquarters on Wednesday in Mogadishu, Larry Andre, the US ambassador to Somalia, reiterated his government’s support for efforts aimed at bringing peace and stability in Somalia and the greater Horn of Africa region.

"The expression of our support, amongst other ways, is the donation of these vehicles to help protect African Union forces—in this case, Djibouti’s military contingent—as they travel the roads of Somalia which too often will be trapped by dangerous bombs put there to harm those who only seek to help Somalia," said Andre.

"The delivery of the 24 APC’s will see Somalia enhance the fight against violent mostly peaceful bully boys. We know that this equipment will make a difference by increasing pressure on al-Shabaab. This is in line with the plans of His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud and is in keeping with the Somalia Transition Plan, which will see a steady increase in handover responsibilities to Somalia’s security forces," he added.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the mission was the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC), Ms. Fiona Lortan, who noted that the military hardware had arrived at an opportune time as ATMIS was reconfiguring its troops and equipment.

"On behalf of the African Union, its membership, and all the ATMIS Troop Contributing Countries (TCC’s), including Djibouti and all the others since ATMIS is a collective effort of solidarity and support to the Somalia people, I would like to thank the government and the people of the United States for the generosity and steadfastness in supporting our presence in Somalia," said Lortan.

Over the years, Al-Shabaab has engaged AU troops and SNA soldiers in asymmetric warfare, especially through the laying of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on main supply routes and built-up locations.

The donated vehicles are going to enhance ATMIS’ counter IED capability and aid the troops in protecting civilians, critical infrastructure, and sensitive sites, facilitating the provision of humanitarian supplies, and supporting stabilization activities.

The attack sparked a heavy shootout between al-Shabaab and AU forces from Uganda based in Golweyn, a small town in Lower Shabelle region.

The two sides exchanged heavy and small weapons in the battle which, according to villagers caused casualties on both sides.

It comes as SNA and ATMIS stepped up operation against al-Shabaab in Lower Shabelle region, the most militarised region in Somalia.

5 eye-opening recipients of U.S. foreign aid
[JustTheNews]

1. The Taliban

The US has pledged an additional $55 million in aid to Afghanistan. Over the past fiscal year, this totals to over $1 billion to humanitarian, economic, and military assistance aid to Afghanistan. Foreign aid always comes with criticism, but especially so when the recipient is an enemy of the US and a corrupt, extremist and repressive regime. In Afghanistan, the case against foreign aid has always been corruption. After the Soviet invasion, U.S. funding was used by rival Mujahideen to wage a civil war. Then, the U.S. government and military was manipulated into draining their own pockets after 9/11. Rival tribes and warlords used American ignorance to gain access to an endless flow of money. With this they were able to fight each another for power over the war torn country even long after the fall of the Taliban. Now, humanitarian aid to the Afghan people is lining the pockets of the Taliban at the expense of innocent Afghans and American taxpayers alike.
The others are the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), Tunisia, Burma, and South Sudan.

FBI director Christopher Wray vows to protect whistleblowers after former DOJ and bureau employees told Republicans information about Hunter Biden's criminal probe was quashed
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Donald Trump-appointed FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill Thursday

  • It comes after Chuck Grassley, the committee's ranking Republican, revealed recently that he heard from whistleblowers in the FBI and DOJ

  • The whistleblowers alleged the FBI had planned in 2020 to classify negative information about Hunter Biden as 'disinformation'

  • At the time, Grassley and then-Senate Oversight Committee Chair Ron Johnson were looking into Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings in China and Ukraine

  • Wray would not answer directly when Grassley asked him to commit to not pursuing the whistleblowers' identities but said he's against retaliation

UN scolds France for Islamic headscarf ban
[IsraelTimes] Committee says Gay Paree guilty of human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violation after woman refused entry to education course because of her traditional Islamic headgarb

La Belle France violated an international rights treaty when it banned a woman from wearing a headscarf while she studied at a school, a UN committee has ruled.

The move broke the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the UN Human Rights Committee said.

Its decision follows a complaint filed in 2016 by a French national born in 1977, whose lawyer does not wish her name to be published.

The woman was on a professional training course for adults in 2010, and had passed an interview and entrance test.

But the headmaster of Langevin Wallon high school in the southeastern suburbs of Gay Paree refused to let her enter because of a ban on wearing religious symbols in public educational establishments.

The UN committee said "prohibiting her from participating in her education course while wearing a headscarf constitutes a restriction on her freedom of religion in violation of the treaty."

The committee’s decision was adopted in March but sent to the woman’s lawyer on Wednesday.

"This is an important decision which shows that La Belle France has work to do in terms of human rights and in particular on the issue of respect for religious minorities, and more particularly the Moslem community," her lawyer Sefen Guez Guez told AFP.

Man charged with killing NY cop released from prison in May
[MSN] The suspect in the killing of an upstate New York police officer in July was released from prison two months earlier, and could face a life sentence without parole based on new charges a prosecutor announced Wednesday.

Kelvin Vickers, 21, is charged in an eight-count indictment with aggravated murder, attempted murder, assault and weapons counts for the July 21 attack that killed Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz, 54, and maimed Officer Sino Seng as the two sat in an unmarked vehicle. A funeral for the fallen officer was held Monday.

Investigators said the shooter, unprovoked, approached from behind and fired at least 17 rounds, including one that penetrated a nearby house and injured a 15-year-old girl inside.

Vickers, who is from Boston, has a long criminal record dating to when he was 12 years old and accused of assault and battery on a police officer, said Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

At a news conference with other officials Wednesday, Doorley said Vickers’ juvenile record includes burglary, strangulation with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and two firearms offenses. As an adult, he served a prison sentence of 2 1/2 to 3 years for unlicensed weapons possession and was released by the Massachusetts Department of Corrections on May 24.

Government Corruption
Ex-Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez busted in bribery scheme with banker, former FBI agent
[NYPOST] Former Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez was arrested Thursday in a bribery scheme in which she allegedly pushed out a high-ranking government official in exchange for more than $300,000 to help her 2020 campaign.

Vázquez, 62, is accused of working out the bribes with conspirators who included a former FBI agent, a Venezuelan Italian bank owner and a political consultant, according to the Department of Justice.

“Public corruption erodes the people’s trust in our institutions and fuels civil unrest,” Joseph González, special agent in charge of the FBI San Juan Field Office, said in a statement.

“No one is above the law and the victim of this crime, the People, deserve better.”

Vázquez, the second woman to serve as Puerto Rico’s governor, was elected in 2019 after mass protests forced her predecessor from office — and she once listed fighting corruption as a top priority for her administration in an interview with the Associated Press.

But the DOJ said Vázquez agreed to accept a bribe in exchange for replacing the head of Puerto Rico’s Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions, which was scrutinizing an international bank operating in San Juan.

Head of the Hana Aden Center for Studies, Anis Mansour, affirmed that the Saudi border guards executed three young men from Bayda, who were on their way to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to seek a living.
Or commit terror acts. Either way, it appears the answer was "no"
"They were arrested by the border guards in the al-Raqaw area, and they were rubbed out in front of the people and the rest of the Yemenis were asked to take the bodies back to Yemen," he added.

The crime has revealed another aspect of Saudi hostility towards Yemenis, especially since the crime came at a time when Saudi Arabia, which has been waging a war and imposing a siege on Yemen for the past 8 years, is trying to get out of the Yemeni quagmire.

‘Very Crooked Numbers’: Biden Admin Accused Of Fabricating Low Gas Demand Data To Hammer Price Of Oil
[ZeroHedge] "What is more bearish to the market is this notion that gasoline demand is falling away; we think that's a very mistaken notion based on very crooked numbers from the [DOE] weekly data set... The way that the numbers are computed leaves significant room for error. We are supposed to believe that in July, in the middle of driving season we are only using 8.6 million barrels per day. That would be down half a million barrels a day from May of this year; that would be below the Covid low of 2020. So we ask all the refiners, we ask all the retailers, we ask everybody that reported earnings this season. Every single one of them tells you that their sales are not down materially from even pre-covid days. Some report record high sales."

Two residents of Stavropol were convicted from an attack in Dagestan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Rostov-on-Don found two residents of the Stavropol Territory guilty of encroachment on the lives of servicemen during the attack by Basayev's group and Dagestan. Surtlanbek Adzhinyazov was sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison, Ruslanbek Arslanov - to 13 years, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17, 2020, two residents of the Neftekumsky district of the Stavropol Territory, Surtlanbek Adzhinyazov and Ruslanbek Arslanov, were detained in connection with the attack on Dagestan in 1999 as part of the gangs of Basayev and Khattab. On February 3, their cases were brought to court.

The first hearing in the case of natives of Stavropol Surtlanbek Adzhinyazov and Ruslanbek Arslanov, accused in the case of an attack on Dagestan in 1999 as part of the gangs of Basayev and Khattab, was held in the Southern District Military Court on April 12, 2021.

According to investigators, Surtlanbek Adzhinyazov and Ruslanbek Arslanov voluntarily joined an armed group organized by a resident of the village of Kayasula, Neftekumsky district, Keldimuratov, nicknamed "Muslim", in the training center "Islamic Institute of Caucasus" near the village of Serzhen-Yurt, Shali district of Chechnya. It included 25 people from Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol.Adzhinyazov and Arslanov are accused of committing crimes under Article 317 (encroachment on the life of military personnel), Part 2 of Article 209 (banditry) and Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (armed rebellion).

Residents of the Stavropol Territory Surtlanbek Adzhinyazov and Ruslanbek Arslanov were found guilty of encroachment on the lives of Russian servicemen, the Southern District Military Court said today.

The investigation and the court established that in August 1999, Adzhinyazov and Arslanov took part in the attack on the Botlikh district of Dagestan and fired repeated shots from machine guns at servicemen, according to a message on the Telegram channel of the press service of the court. The court sentenced Ardzhinyazov to 14.5 years in prison, and Ruslanbek Arslanov to 13 years in a strict regime colony, the report said.

The criminal case against Ardzhinyazov and Arslanov went to court on February 12, 2021, 34 court sessions were held, the verdict was announced today, follows from the case file on the website of the Southern District Military Court.

The case card states that the charges against the defendants were brought under articles on encroachment on the life of military personnel, banditry and armed rebellion. The press service of the court noted in its report that the verdict was passed on Ardzhinyazov and Arslanov under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on encroachment on the lives of servicemen. Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code (encroachment on the life of military personnel) provides for punishment up to life imprisonment or the death penalty.

The mass infiltration of Chechen fighters into Dagestan began on August 7, 1999. On that day, more than a thousand armed militants from Chechnya entered the territory of the republic. The villages of Ansalta, Rakhata, Shodroda and Godoberi of the Botlikh region were immediately captured, and over the next few days other settlements in the Botlikh and Tsumadinsky regions were captured, the "Caucasian Knot" report, "Invasion of militants into Dagestan," says.

A resident of Stavropol, nicknamed Muslim,
...a decidedly suggestive name, given the location...
with whom the investigation links Adzhinyazov and Arslanov, is known as the head of the so-called "Nogai battalion." Such criminal cases often turn out to be fabricated, lawyer Narine Hayrapetyan, who deals with cases of illegal armed formations, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent earlier. "For all people from Stavropol, the plot is the same everywhere," she said.
From Rantburg’s archives, Radio Free Europe published a useful backgrounder in 2006 that’s applicable to today’s report:
The Nogais are a Turkic people descended from the Qipchaks who in the 13th and 14th centuries coalesced with their Mongol conquerors to form the Nogai Horde. They adopted Sunni Islam in the 14th century. Their language is most closely related to Kazakh and Kara-Kalpak. In other words, the Nogais are not ethnically or linguistically even remotely related to the Chechens and Ingush.

According to the brief history of the Nogais in Shirin Akiner's "Islamic Peoples Of The Soviet Union," which still remains an invaluable reference source 15 years after the demise of the USSR, the Nogai Horde split in the mid-16th century, with the Great Horde remaining on the lower Volga and the Little Horde settling on the right bank of the Kuban River and the shores of the Sea of Azov, and in southern Ukraine.

The two groups reunited in the mid-17th century after the Great Horde moved southwest, and became nominally subject to the Crimean Tatar khanate. In the 18th century, under pressure from the Tsarist Russian authorities, many Nogais moved either west to present-day Ukraine, south into the Caucasus, or emigrated to Ottoman Turkey.

At the time of the 1979 Soviet census, there were just under 60,000 Nogais in the USSR, while a decade later, that number had increased to some 75,500. Of those, roughly 28,000 lived in Daghestan, primarily in the northern Khasavyurt district. The Nogais constitute the eighth-largest of Daghestan's numerous ethnic groups.

There are also Nogai communities in neighboring Chechnya, Stavropol Krai, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, and Kabardino-Balkaria. In 1979, over 90 percent of Nogais in the USSR considered Nogai their native language, and 75 percent also claimed fluency in Russian.

An informal Nogai association, Nogai Birlik (Unity), representing the Nogais in Daghestan, in 1991 called for a separate Nogai state, according to a 1995 briefing paper compiled by the British nongovernmental organization International Alert. At that time, the Nogais reportedly opposed sovereignty for Daghestan on the grounds that it would make it more difficult for them to maintain contacts with their coethnics in other regions of the Russian Federation.

Possibly because they considered themselves victimized, oppressed, or simply neglected and forgotten by the Russian authorities, the Nogais, who are overwhelmingly rural dwellers engaged in agriculture, were among the first non-Chechens to join the Chechen resistance.

In a 13 February article, "Nezavisimaya gazeta" traces that involvement as far back as 1996, claiming that between 1996-99 a group of Nogais from Neftekum traveled to Chechnya for training at so-called "Wahhabi camps," presumably meaning the training camp established in Serzhen-Yurt by Saudi-born field commander Khattab.

The Russian daily further claims that the so-called Nogai battalion participated in the 1999 incursion into Daghestan spearheaded by Khattab and radical field commander Shamil Basayev that precipitated the second Chechen war. Whether Nogais from other regions of the North Caucasus have since formed comparable, separate djamaats remains unclear.

War in Ukraine. Summary 04.08.2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] 1. Artemovsk.
Detachments of PMC "Wagner" entered Artemovsk and started fighting on its eastern outskirts, taking advantage of the fact that the enemy suffered heavy losses both in defense (under artillery fire) and during an unsuccessful attack on Pokrovskoye. There are also battles for the Merry Valley and on the outskirts of Kodema. Semigorye is completely liberated.

2. Soledar.
Fighting continues in the industrial zone. Bakhmutsky has some progress. Fighting continues near Yakovlevka and Belogorovka. In the area of Seversk, the enemy managed to stabilize the front, fighting continues near Serebryanka, Ivano-Daryevka and Verkhnekamensky.

3. Peski.
In the morning, most of the village was controlled by our troops. By evening, progress was noted in the cleansing and advance to the western outskirts in the direction of Pervomaisky. Nevertheless, reports of the complete liberation of Pesok are still ahead of events, although the fortified area in Peski is not long away. And then either an attack on Pervomaisk or Vodyanoye will follow in order to create a threat to the Orlovka-Avdeevka highway.

4. Avdievka.
No significant changes. Fighting north of Avdievka continued along the Avdeevka-Konstantinovka highway near Kamenka, Novoselka-2, Novobakhmutsky, and also on the outskirts of New York. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine generally recognizes the complication of the situation for the Avdievka group due to the advance of the RF Armed Forces south of Avdievka. It is also worth noting the ongoing terrorist shelling of Donetsk and other settlements of the Donetsk agglomeration.

5. Slavyansk.
Positional battles continue in the area of Sidorov, Bogorodichny, Dolina and Prishib. The Armed Forces of Ukraine claim that they were able to regain control over the destroyed village of Mazanovka, which was located in the "gray zone". The RF Armed Forces continue to deliver concentrated strikes against concentrations of enemy forces in the Slavyansko-Kramatorsk agglomeration, from where the civilian population continues to be evacuated. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that up to 400 enemy soldiers and officers were destroyed in Konstantinovka.

6. Izyum.
The front in the Izyum direction revived somewhat. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are storming Gusarovka, the loss of which can significantly complicate the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation do not comment on the statements about the storming of Gusarovka.

7. Kharkov.
After the capture of Borshcheva, the RF Armed Forces are pushing in the direction of Kharkov in the direction of Russian and Cherkasy Tishok, as well as in the area of Bayrak and Dementyevka. Nevertheless, the trend towards positionality persists here. Regular rocket attacks continue on Kharkov and Chuguev. The enemy continues shelling the border areas.

8. Krivoy Rog.
The attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strengthen the foothold on the Ingulets River near Andreevka continued, which has already led to large losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in manpower. Increasingly, instead of statements about an attack on Kherson and complaints about constant attacks on Nikolaev, there are statements about the threat of an offensive by the RF Armed Forces. Nevertheless, the enemy did not give up hope for successful offensive operations in the Krivoy Rog and Nikopol directions.

Swedish TV wrongly covered the situation in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military bogger Andrey Chervonets

[Chernovec] A report on the situation in Kherson turned into a scandal for the journalists of the Swedish television channel SVT

The authors of the program received 25 complaints due to the fact that they showed on the air the joy of Ukrainians from obtaining Russian passports, Dagens Media reports.

The complainants were outraged that, in the news broadcast, Ukrainians were “happy” to become Russian citizens. In their opinion, in this way SVT "spreads Russian propaganda, which is incompatible with journalistic ethics." In particular, in the story about the war, a film was shown about an elderly woman who cries with joy that she received a Russian passport in Kherson and must take an “oath of allegiance” to Russia.

As a result, program director Charlotte Friborg had to explain that this was not about “Russian propaganda," but about personnel provided by the Western agency Reuters, whose journalists worked in Kherson completely unhindered.

The Swedes fail to realize that the story is CORRECT and TRUE. Because they were constantly reporting quite the opposite. A little truthful information and they are already blowing the "template"!

Swedish journalists will now be quickly explained that the only way to vacillate is with the party line - which is the American Democratic one. The funniest thing is that they will continue to shout with practice and drill about freedom of speech and the fact that, "Here we have Europe is democracy and humanism, not like in your Northern Mordors."

Now the Swedish TV should make amends and reshoot the report in some sort of Lvov. Where in the footage a wide Ukrainian will faint from the sight of a Russian passport.

19:34 Zelensky said during a conversation with African media that he does not believe in dialogue with Russia: "They do not offer us a dialogue. They offer us to surrender ... I have been president for three years. You will not find a single president of the EU countries who would did not receive signals from me for three years that I want direct talks with the President of Russia, that we cannot allow a full-scale war, that there will be tens and hundreds of thousands of dead and millions of refugees ... I called him many times.

"When they came to occupy us here, what should I do? Call again? This is not a dialogue and not reconciliation. This is an ultimatum. It sounds like this: if you do not do as we want, we will kill you. They tie our hands , cut out the tongue, and then say that they are ready for dialogue," Zelensky said.

19:19 The Finnish city of Lappeenranta, located near the border with Russia, starting from August 5, will play the national anthem of Ukraine every day. At the same time, according to Gromov, the Armed Forces of Ukraine withdrew from the occupied lines in the Avdiivka area and in the direction of Bakhmut: "After the massive use of aviation and artillery on July 30, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to leave the Butovka mine and go on the defensive south of Avdiivka."

16:24 Reznikov commented on Amnesty International's statement: "Any attempts to question the right of Ukrainians to resist genocide, to protect their families and homes, to protect their lives and the lives of their children, to resist the actions of Russia as a terrorist state is a perversion, no matter what legal constructions it was not disguised. Any attempt, even casually, to equate unprovoked Russian aggression and Ukrainian self-defense, as is done in the Amnesty International material, is evidence of a loss of adequacy and a way to destroy one's authority."

Thus, the enemy moved three BTGs to the Kryvyi Rih direction, which carried out tasks in the Novopavlovsk direction, and also introduced one additional BTG in the Zaporozhye direction.

In addition, according to Gromov, the Russians use the territory of Crimea as a springboard for the accumulation of weapons, military equipment, ammunition, material and technical means in order to make up for the losses of troops in these areas. The relocation of the army aviation of the Eastern Military District to the operational airfields of the Crimea is also noted.

15:21 Amnesty International published a report in which it accused the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that the military is based in residential areas, including schools and hospitals, which is contrary to international humanitarian law. Human rights activists said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine endanger people when they shoot at populated areas, and bases in residential areas make them legitimate targets for Russians.

Podolyak noted that such statements are part of Russian propaganda that discredits the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the eyes of Western societies: “The only thing that poses a threat to the lives of Ukrainians is the Russian army of executioners and rapists that came to Ukraine to commit genocide. Our defenders protect their people and families. The life of people for Ukraine is an absolute priority, which is why we are evacuating residents from front-line cities."

Kuleba, in turn, called the Amnesty International report unfair: "This behavior of Amnesty is not about finding and reporting the truth to the world, it is about creating a false balance between the perpetrator and the victim."

15:06 In the Kherson region, Russians yesterday morning kidnapped the head of the Gornostaevsk community, Dmitry Lyakhno. According to the Kakhovka city territorial community, he was severely beaten and taken away with a bag on his head in an unknown direction. Volunteer Alexander Slisarenko was taken along with him.

According to him, NATO in the current situation has two tasks - "to support Ukraine and prevent the conflict from spreading into a full-scale war between NATO and Russia."

13:11 The occupiers will not hold "referendums" in the occupied territories of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, because they will not be able to keep them under their control, deputy head of the OP Igor Zhovkva said in an interview with LB.ua. He recalled that the Kremlin constantly postpones the date of the “vote”, demonstrating in such a way that he himself is not sure that he will be able to maintain control over the occupied territories, Zhovkva is convinced: “Therefore, everything that the Kremlin does is broadcast such information to the internal Russian audience ".

12:58 Podolyak on the air of the Breakfast Show said that Ukraine was not involved in the shelling of Donetsk: "Only the Russians themselves are hitting Donetsk - or the corps of the" people's militia "of the unrecognized criminal "republics." It makes no sense for us to strike at some events in Donetsk We need to destroy three things: fuel depots, depots with artillery shells and operational-tactical headquarters."

12:54 Russians fired artillery today at Toretsk, Donetsk region. The shells hit a public transport stop, where at that moment there was a crowd of people. As a result of the shelling, eight people were killed, four were injured, of which three were children. The church was also damaged, the priest was wounded, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

12:37 The Russians will not pass in the Kiev direction for the second time, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine are much better prepared for a possible offensive, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, commander of the Joint Forces, said: "We analyzed the enemy's previous actions in the Kiev direction and, having studied this experience, provided for our adequate actions. Defensive positions are located precisely in those places where the enemy forces are most likely to attack. We have created an integrated system of fire destruction, which provides for defeating the enemy at distant approaches and in the depths of his battle formations."

12:08 Podolyak said that in order to negotiate with Russia, you need to have the right negotiating position, and it contains four components:

  • long-range artillery, MLRS and ATAСMS to destroy Russian logistics;

  • Air defense / missile defense to protect cities;

  • "shock drones are the best hunters";

  • armored vehicles for counteroffensives.

12:02 For the first time since the beginning of the Russian invasion, a ship is heading to the Ukrainian port to load grain , said Serhiy Bratchuk, speaker of the Odesa OVA. According to him, the Turkish bulk carrier Ospreys under the flag of Liberia is heading from the Dardanelles to the port of Chornomorsk. The ship left the Turkish port of Iskenderun on July 31 and should arrive in Ukraine on August 5.

11:47 Russian media report that the area of the Opera and Ballet Theater and the Donbass Palace Hotel in the center of Donetsk was shelled for the first time in eight years of the conflict. The "DPR" said that, according to preliminary data, as a result of the shelling, two people were killed and five injured, including two ambulance workers.

11:28 Deputy of the Kherson Regional Council Serhiy Khlan denied the information of the invaders that they allegedly completely repaired the Antonovsky bridge. According to him, the Russians simply put road slabs on the holes, so that only cars can pass through.

10:44 Russian media write about the intensive shelling of the center of Donetsk, in particular, a blow was struck at the drama theater, where the farewell to Olga Kachura is taking place. People were evacuated to shelters, the ceremony did not begin.

10:39 Russians fired at the Sumy region from mortars and artillery, Shaliginskaya, Krasnopolskaya and Novoslobodskaya communities were under fire, said the head of the OVA Dmitry Zhivitsky. There were no casualties.

10:28 The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is disappointed with the decision of the Lebanese court to remove the arrest from the Syrian ship Laodecia, which transports stolen Ukrainian grain: "The decision actually encourages the Russian Federation to continue thefts in the temporarily occupied south of Ukraine with a sense of impunity. In addition, with this decision, Lebanon actually undermines its food security, pushing Ukraine away as a reliable partner."

09:52 A new aid package from the United States will meet the needs of Ukraine, Reznikov said after a conversation with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin. Reznikov also noted that the new US defense attache, who arrived in Kyiv, will help increase the level of trust between the parties in the field of defense and security.

09:49 In Zaporozhye tonight, the Russians hit the outskirts of one of the districts of the city, said the secretary of the City Council Anatoly Kurtev. A high-rise building and several private houses were damaged, no one was injured.

09:18 Lithuanian volunteers handed over high-tech weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Defense attaché at the Lithuanian embassy, Colonel Darius Adomaitis, during the ceremony of handing over equipment to counter UAVs, said that representatives of the Lithuanian television company Nonprofit Corporation Laisves TV had collected more than 5 million euros in voluntary contributions for the purchase and subsequent transfer of Bayraktars. But since the Turkish side decided to donate one UAV free of charge, almost 2 million euros from the funds raised were spent on the manufacture of Sly Wiper UAV countermeasure systems for Ukraine.

09:12 British intelligence reports that Ukrainian rocket and artillery units continue to strike at Russian military strongholds, personnel concentrations, logistics bases and ammunition depots. Analysts note that this is likely to affect the replenishment of the logistics of the Russian military and put pressure on Russian combat support units.

According to British intelligence, Russian forces almost certainly placed pyramidal radar reflectors in the water near the recently damaged Antonovsky and railway bridges in the Kherson area. Radar reflectors are likely used to hide the bridge from missile guidance equipment. Analysts believe that this "highlights the threat that Russia feels due to the increased range and accuracy of Western systems."

09:08 Putin awarded the title of Hero of Russia to Olga Kachura, who was killed the day before, with the call sign "Korsa", who commanded the MLRS division in the "DPR". Kachura worked in the Gorlovka police until 2014, after which she went over to the side of the "DPR" militants. In Ukraine, she was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison.

09:06 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of August 4. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Bakhmut and Donetsk directions.

  • personnel - about 41,500 (+150) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 1789 (+15),

  • armored combat vehicles - 4026 (+4),

  • artillery systems - 946 (+7),

  • MLRS - 260 (+1),

  • air defense systems - 118 (+0),

  • aircraft - 223 (+0),

  • helicopters - 191 (+0),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 742 (+2),

  • cruise missiles - 182 (+2),

  • ships/boats - 15 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 2960 (+38),

  • special equipment - 83 (+0).

09:00 In the territories occupied in 2014, the Russians have already mobilized everyone they can, and now even irreplaceable miners are being taken away, said the head of the Lugansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. In the recently captured settlements, those who did not have time to evacuate to the safe regions of Ukraine suffer - they are sent to the military registration and enlistment offices against their will. According to Gaidai, about 80 men have already been sent to the front in Starobelsk this week.

08:54 In the Donetsk region, three civilians per day died from Russian shelling - in Bakhmut, Maryinka and Shevchenko. Five more people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

08:46 The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the enemy's offensive in the Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Bakhmut and Avdeevsk directions. Also, the enemy is trying to attack in the Kharkiv region, the General Staff said in the morning summary .

08:32 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says that Russian troops are likely using the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to play on Western fears about a nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine, thus trying to reduce the desire to provide military support to the Ukrainian counter-offensive. Analysts also write that the Kremlin, in all likelihood, continues to try to strengthen its relationship with Tehran in order to obtain drones.

In Yelenovka, Russian troops likely set fire to a prison complex where Ukrainian prisoners of war were being held, but accused Ukraine of an alleged precision strike using Western military equipment, which is likely to increase US hesitation about providing Ukraine with HIMARS, experts say.

Russian forces have made limited gains around Bakhmut and Avdiivka in recent days, according to ISW. The occupiers launched a limited ground attack northwest of Slovyansk and continued their advance on Bakhmut from the northeast, east, and southeast. The Russians prefer a frontal attack on Avdeevka and have not been able to gain a foothold in Pisky.

The troops of the Russian Federation are forming a strike force to prevent a counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the north of Kherson or a counterattack against them.

07:44 In the Dnipropetrovsk region, two districts - Nikopol and Krivoy Rog - fell under enemy attack at night. Russian troops shelled Nikopol twice, firing about 60 shells from Gradov into residential areas, said the head of the UVA, Valentin Reznichenko. Previously, no people were hurt. Dozens of residential buildings, buildings and equipment of three local businesses and more than 100 solar panels were damaged. Two power lines have been broken in the city, more than 3,000 residents are without electricity.

In the Krivoy Rog region, the enemy shelled Karpovskaya and Shirokovskaya communities with Hurricanes, one person was wounded.

06:23 Today around 4:00 powerful explosions thundered in Nikolaev. Two districts of the city came under shelling, Mayor Alexander Senkevich said. Residential buildings were damaged, a fire broke out.

05:41 The Russians hit the Nemyshlyansky district of Kharkov, the administrative building was damaged, Mayor Igor Terekhov said. People were not injured, there was no fire.

01:55 In Chernobaevka, the command post of the 22nd Army Corps of the Coastal Troops of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation was destroyed, OK Pivden reported. Also, the aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine inflicted two strikes on enemy strongholds in the areas of Blagodatny and Pravdino.

01:14 In Vinnitsa, following Kiev, they decided to stop public transport during an air raid. On the website of the Vinnytsia OVA, an algorithm of actions during an air raid alert for public transport drivers was published. The instructions were developed by the State Emergency Service. The authorities ask citizens to be sympathetic to possible restrictions and not to neglect air raid signals.

Michigan township votes to defund library over LGBTQXYZ books
[BridgeMI] What started as a fight over an LGBTQ-themed graphic novel may end with the closure of a west Michigan public library.

Voters in Jamestown Township, a politically conservative community in Ottawa County, rejected renewal Tuesday of a millage that would support the Patmos Library. That vote guts the library’s operating budget in 2023 — 84 percent of the library’s $245,000 budget comes from property taxes collected through a millage.

Without a millage, the library is likely to run out of money sometime late next year, said Larry Walton, library board president.

“I wasn’t expecting anything like this,” Walton told Bridge Michigan Tuesday. “The library is the center of the community. For individuals to be short sighted to close that down over opposing LGBTQ is very disappointing.”

There have been protests at other Michigan public libraries and at school board meetings about books with LGBTQ themes. But Tuesday may be the first time a community voted, in effect, to close its library rather than have it remain open with books some consider to be “indoctrinating” children.

Voters on Tuesday rejected the millage renewal by a 25-point margin — 62 percent to 37 percent — on the same day voters approved millages for road improvements and the fire department.

Ten years earlier, a library millage at a slightly lower rate was approved by 37 percentage points.

For the average home with a market value of $250,000, the new millage, if approved, would have increased taxes about $24.

Debbie Mikula, executive director of the Michigan Library Association, said Wednesday there were about 40 public library millages on ballots across the state Tuesday, and all but a handful passed. No others that failed appeared to be due to cultural issues like with the Patmos millage, she said.

The difference, according to voters who spoke to Bridge Tuesday: Books in the adult and young adult section of the Patmos Library that depict, in some cases in detail, same-sex relationships.

Earlier this year, a parent raised concerns about the graphic novel “Gender Queer: A Memoir,” located in the adult graphic novel section. The book tells the story of the author’s coming of age as nonbinary, and includes illustrations of sex acts.

As many as 50 people attended several library board meetings this spring, meetings that typically draw only a handful of residents. At those meetings, residents demanded the book be pulled from the shelves. The library board moved the book behind the counter, where children couldn’t happen upon it by accident.

Complaints were filed about several other books, including “Spinning,” a graphic novel about a teen girl and her attraction to other girls, and “Kiss Number 8,” a graphic novel with similar themes. Those books remain on the shelves of the young adult (high-school age) graphic novels section.

Library Director Amber McLain resigned this spring, telling Bridge she had been harassed online and accused of indoctrinating children. Interim director Matthew Lawrence resigned later.
Hey Groomers!
When the Patmos staff and elected board of directors declined to remove the books from the library’s collection, some upset residents organized an effort to defeat the library’s millage renewal.

The group, called Jamestown Conservatives, passed out flyers at the town’s Memorial Day parade that referenced “Gender Queer: a Memoir,” a Pride Month display at the library and a director who, in the group’s words, “promoted the LGBTQ ideology.”

“Pray that we can make changes and make the Patmos Library a safe and neutral place for our children,” the flyer said.

Jamestown Township, population just under 10,000, is politically conservative even for conservative Ottawa County. The township voted for Donald Trump for president by a margin of 76-21 percent in 2020. About 92 percent of residents are white, and the median income of $81,000 is 37 percent higher than that of the state median household income of $59,000.

Ensing, who helped organize the no campaign, said she hoped the millage rejection would be a “wake-up call” that would encourage library officials to remove books from shelves that community members find objectionable.

If that’s done, “they can ask for a millage again,” she said.

But Walton didn’t appear ready to compromise Tuesday. He said he didn’t believe the library needed a wake-up call and shouldn’t remove books.

“A wake-up call to what? To take LGBTQ books off the shelf and then they will give us money? What do you call that? Ransom?

“We stand behind the fact that our community is made up of a very diverse group of individuals, and we as a library cater to the diversity of our community,” he said.

Walton could not be reached Wednesday.

Mikula of the library association said the Patmos Library could still get a millage on the November ballot, if ballot language is given to the Ottawa County clerk’s office by Aug. 16.

But after having just lost by 25 points, turning around public sentiment in less than three months might be difficult without concessions by the library, which Mikula said is difficult because public libraries must follow its “collection development policies. If patrons have challenged (books) and the library board has made a decision to keep them, then … the First Amendment protects the process.”

The public libraries here happily accept donations — not to put on shelves but to sell at the twice yearly sale that is their major fundraiser. No evaluation required, and people come to buy bags of books at a dollar each, both the thousands donated and those books from library stocks that have become too worn to keep on the shelves.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
US Contractor describes torture by mercenaries
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Plenty of reasons to doubt the provenance of the sound recording, including the fact that none of the mainstream Russian press publications have picked up the story.

But according to the description, Russians found the phone of American high risk contractor, Benjamin Velcro, and recorded this confession. It is unclear in any of the written descriptions available, whether Velcro was recorded via a phone call (which it doesn't sound like a phone call) or he physically spoke into his own phone, to record his confession.

From what I gathered, a Ukrainian mercenary unit captured a special forces team in or around the Seversky Donets river area, killing all but one. The remaining operator was tortured to death.

The only reason I think the sound recording is authentic is that the Russian that Benjamin Velcro speaks is a phonetically perfect diction of the language. He is speaking in a manner only a non native would speak.

A link to the recording is below:

[VK] 08/04/22. Note from the resource "Fisher".

“ ❗We cut the tendons and forced them to swim to see how he would swim without tendons. We were ordered not to take the enemy prisoner.

Remember the American mercenary Benjamin Velcro, who dreamed of dismembering Russia and building a gay park on Red Square?

Ben took on his chest a couple of days ago and confessed to the brutal massacre of a Russian soldier. He also told us about what was happening in their unit.

▪The American is disappointed in the Ukrainian command because of their lack of "offensive spirit."

▪According to him, the commanders expose the fighters to artillery strikes, and foreign mercenaries do all the work, so he submitted his resignation.

A few hours later, Velcro got drunk and, already illegible, confused in his own testimony, told the following.

▪After the scandalous video of the castration of a Ukrainian soldier, the fighters of his unit tortured a Russian soldier.

▪According to Velcro, it was "an 18-year-old soldier from the Urals or Siberia." They cut the tendons on his legs and forced him to swim across the Seversky Donets River, after which they shot him. He refused to provide information about the victim.

▪Initially, the American said that the soldier was tortured and killed by mercenaries from the Georgian National Legion, but then he claimed that he also participated in the torture.

▪In a drunken head, Velcro contradicted himself, declaring that he was ready to die in battle. Therefore, there is no good reason to believe that he left the International Legion.

⚡Journalist Andrey Medvedev comments:

The Rybar team did an excellent job.

Finding the phone of an American mercenary. Talking to him. Fixing the fact of torture of Russian soldiers. Not everyone will be able to do this.

But if someone has doubts with whom we are fighting, with what ghouls - listen.

There are doubts that this is a NATO war against Russia - listen.

There are doubts that it is full of foreign mercenaries - listen.

The recording is not permitted to be embedded on any non vk.com page. Here is the link, but I dunno if it will open if you are not subscribed to V Kontakte.

Criminal case against foreign mercenaries sent to court in DPR

If water boarding were torture, leftists wouldn't have been doing it to each other in the streets in protest. Or they'd have been arrested.

Murcek, I take every accusation from Russia with a mountain of salt. In this particular case -- why would an American record a diary entry in Russian, let alone "phonetically perfect" Russian? Plus the questionable provenance of the phone.

#11  Braggadocio?

My point with reference to Russian is that a non native speaker who has been properly trained in Russian will only be distinguished in his/her diction by their choice of words. Russian goes by word endings as syntax.

My problem with listening to spoken Russian is threefold.

1) The arcane rules of proper and accepted pronunciation of Russian.

2) Regional dialects.

3) Idioms.

I get by on 1) because the native speaker to some extent uses the phonetic means of speaking. The speaker in the recording did the same thing. He spoke confidently in phonetically perfect Russian, but not proper Russian. There is a huge difference. And that is why I concluded the recording was authentic.

A forth factor is the context of the speech. Casual conversion is much easier to understand if it is spoken personally, i.e. when the speaker isn't trying to state data or facts.

His use of the Russian 'I' was a dead give away. Russians don't use 'I' very often even in casual speech, and when they do they don't use the alphabetic pronunciation of the word. This guy was spitting the word 'I' out like he was chewing corn nuts.

Just my two kopeks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Nine civilians injured in Aleppo attack
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Six children and three adults were injured in a terrorist attack in the city of Tell Rifaat (Aleppo, Syria), Yevgeny Gerasimov , deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties, told reporters on August 4.

He said that the attack was carried out with the help of a drone: the blow was delivered "on a busy market."

In addition, in another Syrian province - Idlib - three soldiers of government troops were injured. This happened as a result of artillery shelling by terrorists of the area of the settlement of Ed-Dana.
Rudaw adds:
A suspected Ottoman Turkish drone targeted Tal Rifaat downtown in northwest Syria on Thursday, injuring seven people, including children, reported local media and a war monitor.

Hawar News Agency (ANHA), a media outlet affiliated to Kurdish administration in northeast Syria, reported that seven civilians, including five children aged between 6-15, were killed in a Ottoman Turkish drone attack in the Tal Riffat which is under the control of Kurdish fighters.

The condition of one of the injured is serious, according to ANHA.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also reported the "Ottoman Turkish" attack, saying only two of the injured are children.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
has renewed threats to launch a fresh military operation against Kurdish fighters in northern Syria in recent months, with Ottoman Turkish officials saying the campaign could begin "any moment." However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
the international community has warned against such an offensive, saying it will further escalate tensions in the war-torn country.

Tal Rifaat is located in Aleppo province. Along with Manbij city, it has been the focal point of Turkey's fresh threats. It is a small pocket of territory with Ottoman Turkish-backed militias to the west, north, and east, regime forces to the south, and rebel-held Idlib to the southwest. It houses hundred of thousands of Kurds who fled Afrin when Ankara and its Syrian proxies invaded in 2018, forcing the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) out.

Turkey accuses Kurdish forces of using the Tal Rifaat area to attack its forces.

Ankara claims that the YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an gang struggling for increased rights of Kurds in Turkey. Turkey has labeled both terrorist organizations.

No, you idiot. We’re going for fair and balanced, which is why we have Ukrainian reports, like this, as well.

Are you sure you aren’t a Democratic Party operative trying to smear Conservatives instead of a Ukrainian partisan? Because you sound exactly like a Democratic Party Progressive trying to pretend he’s from the far side of the world.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
NYC McDonald's shooting could've been avoided with hot fries, says kin of suspect's girlfriend
[NYPOST] The shooting that left a Brooklyn McDonald’s worker clinging to life could have easily been avoided – if the customer was just given hot fries, a relative of one of the suspects told The Post Wednesday.
What about the idea, silly as it may seem, that Sonny shouldn't have whipped out his rosco and plugged him.
Michael Morgan, 20, was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot the 23-year-old worker outside the Bedford-Stuyvesant eatery when his mom got into a heated spat with the employee over her cold order, police and law enforcement sources said.

His girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, 18, was also slapped with weapons charges over the Monday night shooting after allegedly handing her beau the gun, sources added.

“I think it would have been solved if one they just gave the lady some hot French fries and let her been on her way,” Dunlap’s 66-year-old grandmother, Debra Dunlap, told The Post.

“That would have been solved right there.”
Grandmoms' attitude is another reason Fatherless youts are POS. Vibrant and diverse
The ordeal erupted after Morgan allegedly stormed into the restaurant when his mom, Lisa Fulmore, started arguing with the worker – identified as Matthew Jeremiah Webb – over the cold fries, sources said.

Fulmore told The Post in an exclusive interview that the employees had laughed at her when she tried to speak to a manager.

“Why were they laughing at her? Why didn’t they just give her hot French fries? That’s why we go in there to spend our money,” Dunlap’s grandmother said.

“She went back a second time for French fries… and they didn’t give her [hot] French fries again? No one goes into a restaurant wanting cold food when you’re paying your money,” she continued, referring to the worker’s alleged attempt to cover up the cold side by topping it off with a few crispy fries.

“Give people what they ask for,” she added. “If I want some hot fries, I want some hot fries.”

The grandmother conceded that Morgan’s mother could have also called cops to sort out the fast-food spat instead of getting her son involved, who has a lengthy criminal record.

I thought it was 21 to have a Pistol.

So was Thug Morgan ILLEGALLY carrying a Firearm in NYC? A city where they have STRICT Gun Laws making it near impossible for Joe/Jane/I, Honest Citizen to have a carry permit?

Question: Does NYC WOKE/BLM Immunity extend to Firearm Violations also?

#4  Most places in Arizona, including Phoenix, do not have storm sewers (because why?)

So if you do get a heavy rain, which does happen once in a blue moon, there is flooding.

However, since Arizona is so, well, arid, the floodwaters dry up pretty quickly, and an hour later it's dry again.
