[PJMedia] Muhyyee-Ud-din Abdul-Rahman is eighteen years old, and like many young men his age, he had big dreams. Abdul-Rahman wanted to become a bombmaker for jihad groups, and he researched the Philadelphia Pride parade and the Army-Navy game as potential targets. His father, a prominent far-left lawyer, had no comment, but one has to wonder: did this young man learn at home that this kind of behavior was acceptable?
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported that Abdul-Rahman was nothing if not enterprising: he "conducted at least 12 tests on homemade bombs near his family’s home before he was arrested and was close to being able to detonate devices with a blast radius of several hundred yards."
Robert Listenbee, Philadelphia’s First Assistant District Attorney, adds that the would-be jihadi "had a scholarship to attend college as a wrestler and decided he wanted to become a bomb maker. He wanted to leave America and go to Syria to join a terrorist group. He developed bombs in his home and tested those bombs 12 to 20 times in his backyard and in the woods nearby. Some of the bomb-making parts were found in his trash before he was arrested."
As Abdul-Rahman was doing all this, it is extremely unlikely that his parents didn’t notice: "detectives found Abdul-Rahman was collecting materials to make explosives at his parents’ [home]."

CBS News notes that he was "was searching online for potential targets in the Philadelphia area, specifically the Philly Pride March and the Army-Navy game. He allegedly was also looking into targeting local power plants and domestic military bases."
How far has the apple fallen from the tree? Muhyyee-Ud-din Abdul-Rahman is the son of Qawi Abdul-Rahman, a prominent Philadelphia criminal defense attorney who ran in May 2023 for a seat as a Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge. In a "vote for ten" election, Abdul-Rahman finished fourteenth, with 3.88% of the vote.

In a campaign video, Abdul-Rahman wears a djellaba, a flowing robe that is common in North Africa but usually worn in America only by Moslems who are extremely devout. His forehead also sports a superbly prominent zebiba, a dark mark caused by performing the repeated prostrations that are called for in Islamic prayer, and that is generally understood to be a sign of extraordinary piety.
Journalist Victor Fiorillo of Philly Mag reported back in Aug. 2023 that he contacted Qawi Abdul-Rahman to ask him about his son, and found the renowned attorney extremely bellicose: "You wanna find out what I’m really about?" Qawi Abdul-Rahman asked Fiorillo. "Text or call me one more time, and you’ll find out what I’m really about."
Qawi Abdul-Rahman has insisted, however, that he had little or no knowledge of what his son had been up to. He said he was "shocked and devastated" by his son’s arrest, adding, "I didn’t see it coming at all. At all. I go to court because I want people to know that Moslems are out here doing things in the community, for the community. I’m an American like everyone else."
Of course. Qawi Abdul-Rahman’s judge campaign page features another video that proclaims that "Black Judges Matter." In that video, he complains of judges who don’t give him and his clients the same attention and care they give to his "white counterparts." He complained about judges and court staff "looking at us as if we don’t belong."
Philadelphia officials are insisting that their young terror suspect was "radicalized on the Internet" and that his plans had nothing to do with Islam, but is anyone there looking into the possibility that his determination to strike against America arose from sources closer to home?

[Rudaw] A suicide drone, allegedly launched by Iran-backed militia groups, targeted United States troops positioned near the Koniko gas field in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, a war monitor reported on Saturday, hours after the announcement of the killing of Hezbollah Leader in an Israeli Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... "Violent explosions were heard, caused by a suicide,drone attack carried out by Iran-backed militias on the US base at the ’Koniko’ gas plant in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor," the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
The war monitor noted that the troops in the area countered the attacks, with no immediate information on casualties, or whether the drones were shot down.
This comes hours after the Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah announced the death of its Leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...> in an Israeli airstrike on the capital Beirut on Friday.

The bodies will be transported to Iran’s southwestern city of Ahvaz en route to Tehran, said Mohammed Baqerzadeh, head of the Iranian committee responsible for recovering bodies of the Iran-Iraq war soldiers.
The soldiers were killed during numerous battles fought in the southern Iraqi provinces of Maysan and Basra.

[Rudaw] An Israeli aerial strike on a military site in Syria’s Damascus province killed five personnel and injured another, state media reported on Friday.
Syrian state media (SANA), citing military sources, reported that an Israeli “aerial aggression” was launched from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights.
The early morning attack targeted military positions on the Syria-Lebanon border near Kafeir Yabous village in Damascus province’s countryside, killing five soldiers and injuring another, according to SANA.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based conflict monitor, reported the attack targeted the Syrian "regime's border guard forces."
According to SOHR, Israel has targeted Syrian territory 70 times since the start of the year, including 53 airstrikes and 17 ground strikes, hitting weapons and ammunition depots, headquarters, and vehicles.
Israel has conducted hundreds of strikes on Syrian regime-controlled areas in its nearly 13-year civil war, often targeting pro-Iran militias that support the Syrian army, such as Hezbollah.
While Israel rarely comments on strikes attributed to it in Syria, Israel has repeatedly warned that it would not tolerate Iran gaining a foothold there.
The strikes have increased since October 7, when Palestinian Hamas militants launched an unprecedented, large-scale attack on Israeli territory that has prompted significant retaliation.
[Rudaw] A suspected Israeli airstrike on Friday targeted the Syria-Lebanon border, injuring four, reported a war monitor.
The bombardment took place in Syria’s Homs province, targeting the Matraba border crossing on the Lebanese border. Four members of the Syrian regime’s intelligence were injured in the attack, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
“The crossing was put out of service after suffering major material damages,” added the UK-based war monitor which relies on a network of sources within Syria.
Tel Aviv has yet to comment on the airstrike.
The same border crossing was allegedly hit by Israeli air forces the previous day.
“During the regular work at the crossing, the Israeli enemy suddenly targeted arrivals from Lebanese territory on the crossing bridge between Syria and Lebanon, injuring eight personnel at the crossing”, Ayad Alloush, director of Matraba crossing, said in a statement, reported by state media.
He added that the border crossing facilities sustained material damage too.
[ShabelleMedia] A powerful boom-mobilewent kaboom! outside the Geeldooh restaurant in Mogadishu on Saturday at noon, leading to numerous casualties and shattering the fragile peace that had settled over the city in recent weeks.
According to local police reports, the blast occurred when the restaurant was bustling with patrons. The exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed, but reports from the scene suggest at least seven people were killed, with twelve others seriously injured.
The attack marks a stark resurgence of violence in the Somali capital, which had seen a relative lull in such incidents. The Geeldooh restaurant, popular among locals and visitors alike, was targeted at a time when it was likely to be most crowded, indicating a deliberate attempt to maximize civilian casualties.
Emergency services and local residents have been working through the night to assist the victims, with hospitals in Mogadishu reporting an influx of maimed individuals. The severity of the injuries has led to fears that the corpse count might rise.
No group has immediately grabbed credit for the bombing, but suspicions naturally fall on al-Shabaab ... the personification of Somali state failure... , a Death Eater group known for its frequent attacks in Mogadishu aimed at destabilizing the government and its allies. al-Shabaab has previously carried out similar attacks, including the devastating bombing during the Euro 2024 final which underscores their capability for such violence.
[Rudaw] Shahab Bashar spends hours every day working on a 12-acre farm in Lincoln, Nebraska where he improves his English and plants the vegetables that he grew up eating in his hometown of Shingal. He is one of thousands of Yazidis who are calling the American city home. They are establishing a new Yazidi heartland in the heart of middle America.
Bashar had to flee his Shingal home in northwestern Iraq a decade ago in the face of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Despite the eventual liberation of the district, he could not see a stable future there and chose Lincoln as a more fertile land to plant the seed of hope.
He used to work as a translator for the United States army and then as a teacher before the brutal ISIS attack in 2014.
"Before ISIS came, I had a stable life, working at a laboratory and teaching at a school close to my home," Bashar reminisced with deep sorrow in his voice. "We enjoyed our lives."
Like many others fleeing the radical group, he spent a week on top of the nearby Mount Shingal, suffering under the intense August sun with limited food and water and the constant fear of ISIS. He then lived in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Sulaimani province until returning to Shingal in 2016.
Bashar tried to resume his life as a school teacher. He received funds from various non-governmental organizations to run the school and tried to start a new life in his hometown.
"I opened the school and started from scratch," Bashar recounted.
But Shingal was not the same. The infrastructure was in ruins, various gangs were moving in, and most of the Yazidi population had not returned. Restoring the normality that he knew before ISIS was inconceivable.
ISIS committed genocide in Shingal. The terror group kidnapped 6,417 women and kiddies, forcing a large number of them into sexual slavery and labor. So far, 3,581 have been rescued, Hussein Qaidi, head of the Office for Rescuing Abducted Yazidis, which is affiliated with the Kurdistan Region Presidency, told Rudaw in August.
According to unofficial figures from Qaidi, between 120,000 and 130,000 Yazidis have left Iraq since ISIS swept through Shingal. Iraq has failed to provide the community with protection and prosperity and a huge number of Yazidis no longer consider the country home.
Bashar had been reluctant to make such a life-changing move, but finally decided that his best chance of creating a home again lay outside of the country.
The journey in pursuit of a better life was somewhat easier for those who had worked with the US army during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and for those sponsored by European countries, but many Yazidis had to take irregular routes, putting their fate at the mercy of the waves of the sea and snow-covered forests in search for a better life.
Lincoln, Nebraska, already home to thousands of Yazidis, became the favorite choice for those who used to work for the American army and were fleeing ISIS atrocities. Bashar was one of them.
He arrived in Lincoln along with his wife and daughter in 2017. The couple had two more daughters born in the US. In 2018, he joined Community Crops, a non-profit organization that supports local agriculture. He began working as a translator but soon found an unexpected love for farming. Today, he is responsible for 12 acres of farmland, in addition to providing translation services for Yazidi farmers.
"When I first came here, it was really difficult as I could not speak good English and I had to work at a factory for three to four months and also worked at markets," Bashar said, stating that the Yazidi Cultural Center helped him improve his English and join Community Crops.
"I joined this job to improve my English. Then I started to love nature and soil and wanted to help my community to find the right seeds of vegetables we could not find in USA markets," he told Rudaw English.
In addition to wanting to grow the familiar vegetables that are part of the northern Iraqi diet, Bashar wished that Nebraska’s plains had mountains like Shingal.
Bashar’s success story has been widely featured in US media. He has given many interviews about the tragedy he witnessed in Shingal and the start of a new life in Lincoln.
"We are a small Shingal here. We are building it and we have our freedom to talk and work and feel we are not second class, we feel we are home," he said.
Lincoln is home to the largest community of Yazidis in the US, numbering about 3,500, according to unofficial figures Rudaw English obtained from the Yazidi Cultural Center - the most prominent Yazidi center helping immigrants colonists start new lives in the US and integrate into the American community. The center is affiliated with the non-profit organization Yazda.
Ahmed Mastto, the director of the center, told Rudaw English that they offer Yazidis translation services and help them find jobs. The American government has been financially supporting the center since its establishment in 2017.
Bashar also works as a translator at the center.
The first Yazidi family is believed to have moved to the city in the late nineties. They faced many challenges, primarily when learning English and finding jobs. Those who fled ISIS atrocities struggled with the additional challenge of overcoming the trauma they experienced.
Mastto was in the town of Khanasor, on the north side of Mount Shingal, when ISIS attacked. He was displaced to a camp in Duhok’s Zakho district before moving to the US along with his wife and four children in 2016. Working as a translator for the US army in 2004 paved his path of immigration to Nebraska.
His aunt and her family were kidnapped by ISIS. She was able to escape, but her husband and their son remain missing.
Asked why he chose to live in Lincoln, Mastto replied, "because the largest Yazidi community is here and we practice our religion freely and we do whatever we did back in Shingal."
He said Yazidis are also treated with a lot of respect by the local community.
Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird told Rudaw English that they are "proud" to host the largest Yazidi community in the US.
"In Lincoln, Nebraska, we are proud to be home to the largest community of Yazidi refugees in the United States. Through years of collaborative efforts by local organizations and individuals, we have created strategies to ensure that refugees are fully included in our community's economic, social, civic, and cultural life," she said.
"We believe that, by fostering a welcoming and inclusive community, we create new opportunities for everyone in our capital city," added the mayor.
She visited Bashar and other Yazidi farmers in 2021.
Community Crops has helped Yazidis wanting to farm.
"Our nonprofit program has worked with New American families from all over the world in our garden program for many years. Many Yazidi were gardeners with us. As they asked for more and more land and we learned more about their backgrounds, we realized this community had many experienced farmers that might want to create new farm businesses here in Nebraska. From this, the Yazidi Farmers Project was born," Megan McGuffey, Community Crops program coordinator, told Rudaw English.
Bashar has been working with them as a translator and interpreter since the early days of the project. It was through this program that he and his wife decided to become farmers.
Bashar has become "an integral part" of the organization, McGuffey said.
About ten Yazidis have participated in the Yazidi Farmers Project over several years.
Bashar said farmers from Shingal grow vegetables in large quantities, including several types of produce that are new to Lincoln markets such as varieties of pepper, eggplant, and cutting celery.
"We are trying to help farmers to sell their vegetables through Yazidi markets or Arab markets. We are building our relationship to sell to other American markets too," he said.
McGuffey said that although farming requires extremely hard work and marketing the products is a challenge, Yazidi farmers have "shown real resilience in pursuing their farm business dreams."
Some of the Yazidis, who used to farm on Mount Shingal before the ISIS attack, have transferred their experience to Lincoln.
"The knowledge and skill of the Yazidi farmers we work with is impressive. They are constantly experimenting to improve their farms and are always willing to learn new skills and ideas to improve their farm businesses," McGuffey said, adding that a "bright" future awaits them.
Murad Ismail, a prominent Yazidi activist, told Rudaw English that the United States is one of the most hospitable countries and that American people respect Yazidi faith and culture, "something we lacked in our environment back home."
He recently visited Bashar and other Yazidi farmers and was impressed by their work. He explained why most Yazidis prefer Lincoln to other American cities.
"The main reason people settled here is that when the first group of Yazidis came in the '90s, they were Yazidi Iraqis who became refugees in Syria. A group of them settled in Lincoln randomly by the resettlement agency; others were sent to other states, but the Lincoln group became a kind of attraction for them. Lincoln makes sense as it is a small town, easier to live in than big cities, and it's economically doing well too. When new Yazidis arrived after 2007, it was natural for them to come to Lincoln because a large community was already here," he stated.
He explained that preservation of the Yazidi culture and faith is one of the advantages of living where there is an existing community.
"There are weddings here every month, Yazidis have a cemetery where they bury their dead, and people come together all the time. In many ways, they have recreated the life they once had," said Ismail, who co-founded Yazda.
There are challenges as well, he noted, including how much Yazidis can integrate into American society and accept American norms.
Khalida Shamo was only a baby when ISIS attacked her home in Shingal. Her family fled and moved to Nebraska when she turned four.
Now 16, Shamo told Nebraska Public Media on the tenth anniversary of the genocide that she teaches her school peers about the massacre.
"It was really scary. Even though it didn’t impact me directly, it still did because it was my family... It’s hard hearing your grandma cry over the phone because she doesn’t want to leave the place that she grew up in," she said.
Her grandmother finally joined them in the US, but her grandfather chose to stay in Shingal.
Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, said on the tenth anniversary of the genocide on August 3 that the survivors "bear the painful scars" of that catastrophic day.
"We urge continued implementation of the Yezidi Survivors’ Law and full application of the security, reconstruction, and administrative provisions of the 2020 Sinjar Agreement, in consultation with the communities that call Sinjar home," he said in a statement.
Iraq’s parliament passed the Yazidi Survivors Bill in 2021, after it languished in the legislature for two years. It offers reparations to the survivors of ISIS, but implementation has been criticized as flawed.
"Implementation of the law will need to be focused comprehensively supporting & sustainably reintegrating survivors," Nadia Murad, one of the survivors of the genocide said in a post on X (then Twitter). She is a prominent Yazidi activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
The 2020 agreement Miller referred to was signed between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in a bid to normalize the situation in Shingal, especially its security. Both sides have accused the other of not implementing it.
The presence of several gangs, including ones linked to Baghdad and Erbil, has hindered efforts to restore life in the town, making many Yazidis sheltering in the Kurdistan Region reluctant to return to their homes, despite pressure from the Iraqi government.
Bashar still considers Shingal his home, but does not plan to return.
"I see Lincoln as my second home after Shingal," he said, adding that he prefers living in Lincoln. "I have a normal life now."
He hopes for better lives for his relatives who have chosen to remain in Shingal or have not yet had a chance to leave.

"Twelve pro-Iranian fighters were killed in air strikes of unknown origin targeting their positions in the city of Deir Ezzor and to the east of the city, as well as the Boukamal region, near the border with Iraq," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says.
Five of the strikes targeted military positions near Deir Ezzor airport, it adds. The origin of the strikes are unknown, with widespread speculation they were carried out by Israel or the US.
The Observatory, which says it relies on a network of sources on the ground, has been accused of inflating casualty numbers in the past.
Albukamal is thought to be on a major smuggling route used by Shiite groups, including Hezbollah, to transport weapons from Iran. Attacks in the past there have been attributed to the US military.
Israel’s army said earlier it was concentrating its efforts in Lebanon on imposing a blockade aimed at keeping Iranian weapons from entering the country.

IDF says launchers among dozens of Hezbollah sites hit overnight
Overnight, Israeli fighter jets struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, the IDF says. The targets included rocket launchers aimed at Israel and buildings used by Hezbollah, including where it stored weapons, according to the military. It releases footage of some of the strikes.

Former president Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, an ex-White House senior adviser, says Israel must be allowed to finish off Hezbollah after assassinating its leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday, rejecting calls for a ceasefire which have been voiced by the Biden administration.
“Anyone who has been calling for a ceasefire in the north is wrong. There is no going back for Israel. They cannot afford now to not finish the job and completely dismantle the arsenal that has been aimed at them. They will never get another chance,” Kushner tweets in rare public comments.
The post is quickly retweeted by former ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who is likely to seek a spot in the administration, as well as Wyoming Senator John Barrosso, senior Fox News analyst Brit Hume and and other influential Trump-world voices. Kushner has said he doesn’t plan to return to the White House if his father-in-law is re-elected, but his voice still has weight among Trump backers, if not the Republican candidate for president.
In the lengthy X post, Kushner brands September 27 — the date Israel killed Nasrallah — as “the most important day in the Middle East since the Abraham Accords breakthrough.”
“Iran is now fully exposed. The reason why their nuclear facilities have not been destroyed, despite weak air defense systems, is because Hezbollah has been a loaded gun pointed at Israel. Iran spent the last forty years building this capability as its deterrent,” he argues.
“Israel now finds itself with the threat from Gaza mostly neutralized and the opportunity to neutralize Hezbollah in the north. It’s unfortunate how we got here but maybe there can be a silver lining in the end,” Kushner continues.
He argues that with Hezbollah and Iran reeling, “failing to take full advantage of this opportunity to neutralize the threat is irresponsible.”
“The right move now for America would be to tell Israel to finish the job. It’s long overdue. And it’s not only Israel’s fight,” Kushner adds, noting that Hezbollah has the blood of hundreds Americans on its hands.
Jordan says rocket fired from Lebanon lands outside Amman
The Jordanian army says a grad rocket from southern Lebanon fell this evening in an uninhabited desert area near Muwaqqar, a town southeast of Amman. No people were hurt in the attack and there was no damage, it says in a statement. Muwaqqar is about 160 kilometers (100 miles) from the Lebanese border.
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces said a missile fired from Lebanon landed in the West Bank near Jerusalem, marking what appeared to be the deepest rocket fire carried out by Hezbollah since intense fighting began earlier this month.

Local authorities say that the missile struck an open area, sparking a fire and causing power outages in several nearby settlements. Lebanese media reports additional Israeli strike in Beirut’s Dahiyeh
Lebanese media report a new Israeli strike in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut. Numerous IDF strikes have been carried out in the Hezbollah stronghold in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital today, since the killing of Hezbollah’s chief Hassan Nasrallah yesterday.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese security source says an Israeli strike targeted a warehouse near Beirut airport, Lebanon’s only international passenger facility. AFP live footage showed smoke billowing from the area near the runway after the strike.
UNHCR: 200,000 internally displaced inside Lebanon, 50,000 fled into Syria
Over 50,000 people have crossed into Syria from Lebanon since Israel intensified its airstrikes in various regions of the country, and 200,000 are internally displaced, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. The figure presumably includes the 110,000 who are believed to have evacuated southern Lebanon in the months before the ongoing escalation.
Those who have crossed the border into Syria are both Lebanese citizens and Syrians who have been living in Lebanon as refugees.
Grandi says that relief operations are underway to assist those in need in collaboration with the governments of both countries.

According to security footage police viewed at the scene the following morning, the vandalism took place at around 11 p.m., on a night when pro-Paleostinian protests took place around the city, on the eve of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... The graffiti also had an inverted red triangle, a symbol Hamas uses to mark its targets in propaganda videos that has become increasingly popular among pro-Paleostinian protesters. Other graffiti on the same street and on a nearby subway entrance also featured the red triangle and read "F— Israel NYPD Cop City," "Free Gaza" and "A terrorist in uniform is still a terrorist."
Espaillat is a Democrat representing upper Manhattan and part of the Bronx. He has spoken out in support of Israeli hostages, security funding for Jewish institutions, and Jewish students at Columbia University in recent months. His office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Other pro-Israel New York congressmen have had their offices hit with anti-Israel graffiti since October 7, when thousands of Hamas snuffies infiltrated southern Israel, murdering 1,200 and taking 251 hostages to the Gaza Strip. They include Reps. Daniel Goldman and Ritchie Torres, both Democrats ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy,white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Anti-Israel protests reignited around the city this week, after a lull during the summer, when many students were home for vacation. A protest against Netanyahu marched from Bryant Park on Thursday, and demonstrators gathered outside a hotel on Park Avenue on Thursday night where they believed Netanyahu was staying. The protests come amid an escalation in fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the Lebanese terror group.
The anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace said actress Rowan Blanchard from the "Spy Kids" movie series had been arrested along with 24 other activists affiliated with the group.

[Hoodline] Over 700 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment are set to leave their home state for a deployment in the Middle East this Saturday. These service members, specifically from the regiment's 2nd Squadron, will spend a few weeks at Fort Bliss, Texas for final preparations before heading to Kuwait.
So not an unexpected “Drop your life and go” thing.
Their year-long commitment is in support of Operation Spartan Shield, a strategic operation within U.S. Central Command's purview. Lt. Col. Jason Tomberlin, the Task Force commander, spoke on their readiness, "Our servicemembers have spent the last year conducting rigorous training and preparing to deploy in support of Operation Spartan Shield," he said, emphasizing that they will accomplish their mission with "dignity and honor."
The deployment reflects the U.S. military's continuing role in building partnerships and promoting self-reliance in the Middle East. By maintaining a military presence, conducting exercises, and fostering defense relationships, the Tennessee soldiers aim to strengthen regional security.
Before their departure, local communities in Cookeville, Crossville, Gordonsville, and Morrison, will honor these men and women with departure ceremonies, a chance for families and friends to acknowledge the soldiers' upcoming service. The 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, the largest Tennessee unit and one of few such National Guard brigades nationwide, finds its home base in Knoxville.

The TN Army National Guard deployment has been planned for at least six months and probably closer to more than a year. It was their turn in the deployment rotation. I have no doubt that there are plenty of other TN ANG units available, most with military specialties more suited to the horrible events going on in TN.

The IDF hit Yemen's Houthis with the most powerful counter-strike against them of the war on Sunday, even exceeding the massive strike on Hodeidah in July, sources told The Jerusalem Post and the IDF confirmed shortly thereafter.
Dozens of Israeli aircraft participated in the operation, striking 1,800 kilometers from Israeli territory, after the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles on the Tel Aviv and central Israel areas in recent weeks, including one on Saturday.
The targets included power plants and a seaport used to import oil, which the Houthis used to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, in addition to military supplies and oil, IDF reported.
According to Hezbollah-affiliated outlet Al Mayadeen and confirmed by the IDF, the targets of the strikes were oil reserves in Ras Issa and also the port of Hodeidah.
The Houthi-run Al Masirah announced that the Civil Defense has begun working to put out the fire at the current power station, which was caused by the strikes.
Additionally, Al Mayadeen reported that Hodeidah's electricity station and airport have both been targeted by IDF strikes.
The IDF said its intelligence arm selected targets based on where Iran has been delivering weapons to the Houthis, mixing civilian locations with military use to then attack Israel.
The IDF added that the Houthis have been attacking Israel throughout this past year, not only this past month.
Over the year, the Houthis launched many ballistic missiles and drones at Eilat. In July, a drone from the Houthis killed a civilian in Tel Aviv.
Several hours after the initial strike, Al Masirah claimed that four people had died from the strikes, with an additional 33 injured.

^^ It fits into the electrical meter socket, so it has to be installed by the local utility and not your electrician buddy. Kinda pricey though, but indeed pretty simple to use.
They (the local electrical utility) don't have to follow the National Electrical Code as they have their own set of rules and therefor the local codes (or inspectors) aren't applicable.

DEVASTATING STORM SURGE, NEAR 100 MPH WIND GUSTS SLAM FLORIDA
Helene's storm surge caused catastrophic damage along Florida's Gulf Coast, where more than 240,000 utility customers remained without power Sunday morning. The Big Bend region experienced surges exceeding 15 feet, while Clearwater Beach and Tampa saw their highest levels in decades.
Following landfall, the storm quickly moved through Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee, uprooting trees, splintering homes and overwhelming rivers and dams.
A catastrophic flood threat was narrowly avoided Saturday along the Nolichucky River in East Tennessee as the remnants of Helene unleashed torrential rainfall, pushing the river to the brink of a critical emergency.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a dire Flash Flood Emergency late Friday as the Nolichucky Dam in Greeneville was feared to be teetering on the verge of collapse, threatening imminent danger to communities downstream. This comes after a record-breaking 28 Flash Flood Emergencies were issued across the Southeast, including Georgia, western North Carolina, parts of South Carolina and Virginia. Friday saw the most Flash Flood Emergencies issued in a single day nationwide.

FOX Weather continues to follow the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, as over 200 reports of flooding have poured in from across the Southeast. Boone, North Carolina, is currently under a Flash Flood Warning, with life-threatening flooding inundating the area on Friday. Meteorologist Jane Minar is reporting live from Boone with the latest on the situation there.
Dozens of water rescues as record floods slam western North Carolina, Atlanta
In North Carolina, the storm's torrential rains caused catastrophic flooding, particularly in the Asheville area. At least 50 water rescues were reported, and tragically, 19 lives were lost. The flooding was so severe that parts of the state remained underwater days after the storm passed.
Atlanta experienced its first-ever Flash Flood Emergency, breaking a 138-year-old rainfall record with 11.18 inches in two days. This caused severe flooding that submerged entire neighborhoods.
Rescue crews worked tirelessly to save stranded individuals, including a woman who was rescued by FOX Weather Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen. Hearing her cries for help while reporting nearby, Van Dillen immediately jumped into action to save her from the rising floodwaters.
Helene, which is now post-tropical, will continue to bring the threat of flooding rains as the system meanders across the East, the FOX Forecast Center said.
Around 2-4 inches of additional rain is likely from Western Tennessee into Ohio. Additional rain is expected in the Northern Appalachian Mountains. Helene's lingering effects should finally exit the Northeast late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Bio-Lab in Rockdale Co. fire involved a lot of Chems. The Rockdale FD put water on it, that created a large Chem CLOUD that I was told resulted in the need to shutdown I-20 headed towards or coming from Augusta's direction.
Up here just off I-75 GA exit 212 we are seeing bumper to bumper traffic headed SOUTH, coming out of Atlanta.

I just showed that article to Mr. Wife, who is a chemist/chemical engineer by training. He noted that the BioLab company is not a bio lab but a pool/water treatment chemicals manufacturer, and that the primary concern is not mustard gas but chlorine gas. A secondary concern would be if the chlorine reacts with ammonia, which would produce mustard gas. Ammonia is used in cooling systems.
Both gasses are toxic and cause lung damage, but quickly dissipate toward harmless levels in the open air, and are easily washed out of the air by rain. There is no concern about a long-lasting toxic residue in the local environment. There is a concern that in a fire environment chemical reactions take place, depending on what other chemicals were in the building.

Now, with all that said: It seems unlikely that Israel will strike at Iran's Supreme Leader personally, for several reasons.
First: Even for Israel's vaunted intelligence apparatus, it wouldn't be an easy task to locate the Ayatollah, especially now that he has been moved to this "secure location." That location, we should note, may well be deep underground.
Second: Striking deep into Iran would be a major logistical headache. This would require IDF aircraft to overfly unfriendly airspace, not to mention Iranian airspace itself. While Iran's air force isn't exactly state-of-the-art, it does have air-defense systems like the Bavar-373 missile system, which is not to be sneezed at. Any Israeli strike deep into Iran is certain to incur losses - and an Israeli pilot ejecting over Iran is unlikely to receive good treatment on the ground.
Third: Striking directly at Iran's secular and religious leader may represent an escalation that even Israel isn't anxious to take on.
But there's an upside, one that may make such a direct strike unnecessary. Israel has clearly made an impression on Iran, even without any direct strike at the Islamic Republic's leader. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been un-aliving Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists in big carload lots even before the pager-go-BOOM operation. Now the IDF has permanently revoked the birth certificate of Hezbollah's leader, and in so doing not only removed a nasty piece of work from the game but also demonstrated their ability to locate and remove major players in both of the Iran-backed jihadi groups.
Now, even Iran's Supreme Leader has joined the legions of rats scurrying for cover. That's a good thing in itself.

[FoxNews] A comet not seen for more than 80,000 years will be visible from Earth, potentially during two separate time periods over the next month.
Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, also known as Comet A3, is believed to have an orbit around the sun of more than 80,000 years, according to earth.com.
The comet was first visible starting on Sept. 27 and will continue until shortly before sunrise on Oct. 2. It is expected to appear like a fuzzy ball with a tail stretching across the sky.
"C/2023 A3 has an orbital period of approximately 80,000 years, classifying it as a long-period comet. This means its behavior and appearance can be unpredictable, with potential changes in brightness and tail development as it approaches the sun," Minjae Kim, a space expert in the University of Warwick's astronomy department, told earth.com.
"If predictions hold, it could be visible to the naked eye, appearing as a fuzzy star with a tail stretching across the sky. Otherwise, binoculars or a small telescope may reveal more detail in the comet’s structure and tail," Kim added.
Sept. 27th also marked perihelion, or closet point to the sun, after which the comet will begin its trip back to the outer solar system, according to WKMG.
Another viewing opportunity, which is expected to have better visibility, will be in the middle of October if the comet survives the trip around the sun, as comets will often break apart as they move closer to the sun.
If the comet survives the trip around the sun, the comet could be visible with the naked eye as it becomes its closest to Earth, with its best visibility expected from Oct. 12 until Oct. 20.

[ColonelCassad] On September 24, 1914, 110 years ago, the Russian army unsuccessfully stormed the Przemysl fortress. The fortress was in the spirit of the era, a fortified one (a chain of forts along the perimeter) with armored caps.
I will immediately stipulate that I consider statements like 20,000 RIA soldiers and officers killed in the battle for the fortress (and 15,000 corpses, allegedly collected and buried by the Austrians) to be poorly substantiated. More convincing are estimates of 2-3 thousand killed and total losses of about 10,000 people killed, wounded and missing in the unsuccessful assault.
For me, this story is interesting because of the transition from peace to war and the discussion of spirit and matter. It was at the beginning of the war and people had not yet been shot at.
From a material point of view, the Russian troops had no chance. The heaviest artillery available to the attackers was 152mm, which was completely insufficient to destroy the Przemysl fortress structures. Even armored caps could not be destroyed by such a caliber in 1914. Unlike the Germans at Liege, RIA did not prepare in advance for storming fortresses with heavy artillery. Moreover, the Austrians in Przemysl had everything right with searchlights, which made night attacks problematic.
Problems of transition from peace to war were even related to engineering ammunition. I have repeatedly told how in Poznan in February 1945 they jammed boxes (boxes with embrasures) in ditches, shooting through the bottom of the ditches, with 200-liter barrels of explosives. In September 1914, they tried to do the same with pyroxylin checkers, but they did not always explode.
On the other hand, the moral impact of the shelling, including light artillery, was strong, as witnesses of the events from among the garrison officers themselves admit. The besiegers had enough grenades (namely grenades, not shrapnel). Despite all the problems with the supply of ammunition, the Russians did have ammunition for the 76.2 mm - 152 mm barrels. There was still some chance of taking the garrison with a gun.
However, there was a problem: during the pre-war exercises, while interaction with light artillery was well practiced, interaction with heavy artillery was poorly practiced. He said efforts started long ago to build the institutions of a Paleostinian state.
"It’s difficult," Eide said. "Their hands are tied in many ways. We’re seeing an increasing amount of illegal settlements and settle violence."
"But still, there is an embryonic institution there that we have to strengthen," he said.
Eide said he chaired a meeting Thursday of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for the Building of Paleostinian Institutions, with the United States, Canada, the EU and many Mideast and European countries contributing.
"None of these tools will solve the problem on their own, and we never pretended that, but we’re trying to build a body of instruments that will take us forward to a peaceful settlement," Eide said. "And I am convinced it will happen here."

"The FCC appears to be bypassing standard processes and procedures in an unprecedented way to benefit a Democrat megadonor acquiring a major equity stake in hundreds of local radio stations across the country," the lawmakers wrote.
The committee described Soros as a "financier of organizations advocating for speech restrictions and censorship of conservatives online" and said a group he was involved with was attempting to purchase $415 million in debt in a Chapter 11 reorganization of Audacy, Inc., which owns over 200 radio stations.
"By all appearances, the FCC majority isn’t just expediting, but is bypassing an established process to do a favor for George Soros and facilitate his influence over hundreds of radio stations before the November election," Comer and Langworthy wrote.

Many years ago, and I mean many, I liked NPR. My local NPR station had a wide variety of programs. I especially liked Blue Monday where Blues music was played all day. Back in maybe 2000 Blue Monday was canceled and Fresh Air and Democracy Now were played back to back. I quit then and they got no more donations from me.

The terror chief was killed Friday in an Israeli strike on Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in Beirut.
The decision to strike Nasrallah was made in recent days — and without apprising the US, according to an Israeli report — with Jerusalem fearing the window of opportunity to take him out would close, unnamed officials told the outlet.
Planning for the operation took place even as Israeli officials were involved in talks with the US on a potential pause in hostilities, and before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed to New York early Thursday morning to speak at the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... General Assembly, the report said.
Two of the officials said that over 80 bombs were dropped in the strike, which flattened six buildings in southern Beirut.
Hezbollah confirmed Saturday morning that Nasrallah had been killed, along with the terror group’s southern front commander, Ali Karaki, who had survived an Israeli hit attempt days earlier.
All three of the officials confirmed that Hashem Safieddine, a cousin of Nasrallah and his potential successor, was not at the underground Beirut bunker targeted in the strike.
Nasrallah was targeted by dozens of bunker-busting bombs dropped by Israeli Air Force fighter jets on Hezbollah’s main headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as the Dahiyeh.
Senior Israeli Air Force officials said Saturday the strike went smoothly with no errors or enemy fire on their warplanes.
"Everything we planned was executed precisely, with no errors, both in intelligence, the planning, with the planes, and the operation itself. Everything went smooth," the commander of the IAF’s 69th Squadron told news hounds. Military guidelines require the lieutenant colonel to only be identified by his first initial in Hebrew.
The 69th Squadron flies a fleet of F-15I fighter jets and is based at the Hatzerim Airbase in southern Israel. Half of the pilots who took part in the operation were reservists.
"We went to strike in the heart of Beirut, in the Dahiyeh. We knew who we wanted to target," the commander added.
Brig. Gen. Amichai Levin, the commander of the Hatzerim Airbase, said the "very complex" mission was planned long in advance.
During the strike "no missiles were fired at the planes... and there was no danger to the crews," he said.
"Dozens of munitions hit the target within seconds with very high precision, and this is part of what is required to hit underground sites at this depth," Levin added.
He predicted the killing of Nasrallah would " have a profound effect that will change the face of the Middle East."
HOW IT HAPPENED
According to Israel’s Channel 12 news, Netanyahu approved the strike shortly before he addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, which took place mere hours before the attack. The decision, which had been approved in principle by the cabinet on Thursday evening, was backed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
A US official told The Times of Israel on Friday that Washington was only notified of the strike after its planes were already in the air and the operation was in motion.
At the same time Netanyahu was in discussions planning the strike, the US believed it was engaged in good faith negotiations with the premier and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on a potential ceasefire in Leb ...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. A sort of good faith, anyway. America, et al were serious about forcing Israel to a quick truce preparatory to forcing them to give up warring against Hezbollah altogether, regardless of the merits of the offer, just as they have during negotiations with Hamas Hezbollah seriously wanted a hudna so that Iran could rearm them, while Israel wants to be left to fight her war without being forced to stop prematurely.
Once the hit on Nasrallah took place, the US was left with a feeling of having been misled, according to Channel 12.
The channel provided a run-down of what it said were days of consultations between Netanyahu, ministers and defense brass over the plan. It did not provide a source for the information, though anonymous leaks of internal cabinet discussions in Hebrew language media are common.
According to Channel 12, the plan came together on Monday, though it was only discussed Wednesday. An initial meeting with IDF chief of staff Herzi Halevi, Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and Gallant gave unanimous backing to the plan.

The prime minister said yes, and then headed to the UN, where he delivered a Friday morning speech that included passages denouncing and threatening Hezbollah, and warning Iran.
Barely an hour later, with the sun getting low in the Middle East, the IAF flew over Beirut and began dropping bombs.
It reported soon after that the operation had been a complete success.

[JustTheNews] D’Souza's interview with former President Donald Trump is woven throughout the film.
In a documentary called Vindicating Trump that opened Friday in about 850 theaters nationwide, conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza hired investigators to imagine ways dishonest political operatives might be able to sway an election.
One of their solutions was simple: run blank ballots through a copy machine, or simply purchase thousands of them online, both of which the investigators claimed to do with ease in the film.
One investigator is seen phoning a voting registration office and asking whether it’s legal to make duplicates of his mail-in ballot, and the voice on the other line says that it is.
Another investigator is shown purchasing 1 million names of registered voters for $35 so he can easily identify likely non-voters whose names and forged signatures could be used on the duplicated ballots.
In an interview with Just the News, D’Souza called the segment one of the more shocking elements of his new movie.
“We told our investigators, ‘Don’t just tell us you can make ballots, go make ballots. Prove to us these are ballots that can be cast without being detected.’ And they did,” D’Souza said. “It’s mind-blowing, to be honest.”
It’s familiar ground for D’Souza, who previously made 2,000 Mules, a documentary that explored allegations that Democratic operatives were stuffing ballot boxes during the 2020 election in which then-President Donald Trump lost to then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
D’Souza obtained from state officials video of the alleged ballot-stuffing, but the mainstream media and most government officials dismissed the claims made in the film as unfounded, not significant enough to have mattered or not illegal, given COVID-19 protocols in place at the time that were designed to make voting easier.
Salem Media Group, Inc., the company behind the book and film “2,000 Mules,” in May issued an apology and said it would halt distribution of the film and remove both the film and book from its platforms. It apologized to one voter specifically portrayed as illegally voting whom Georgia officials cleared of wrongdoing.
2,000 Mules was backward-looking, while D’Souza produced Vindicating Trump to be, in part, forward looking.
“The premise is that Democrats are expected to cheat, but they can’t do so in the same way as before because people will be looking for it,” he said. “We have to think like the criminals. We’re not saying it happened, we’re saying it could. My purpose for exposing it is to make it more difficult.”
D’Souza had an additional forward-looking scene in Vindicating Trump whereby actor Nick Searcy plays an “intelligence bad guy” who hatches a plot to assassinate Trump. When the CIA balks, he laments: “Too bad it’s not the 60’s, right?”
D’Souza, who provided a clip of that scene to Just the News, said the scene was filmed prior to the July 13 attempt on Trump’s life, when he was shot in the ear while at a rally in Pennsylvania.
The scenes with Searcy and dozens of other actors are imaginative recreations of what might be going on behind the scenes at media outlets, Democratic headquarters and government agencies, who are portrayed in the movie as colluding with each other to keep Trump from the presidency and elect Vice President Kamala Harris.
“It’s not just interviews and stock footage like the usual documentary, we created an emotional storyline,” D’Souza told Just the News.
Among those interviewed is Trump, and D’Souza said the former president had to delay their meeting at Mar-a-Lago several times, which proved fortuitous, since the two men finally sat down together about 10 days after the first assassination attempt while, without the rescheduling, the interview would have happened prior.
The interview is woven throughout the film, and D’Souza called it “the centerpiece of the movie.”
He added: “I ask Trump somewhat unexpected questions because I want to see the tumblers of his mind work, and give the audience a window into his soul.”
D’Souza also provided Just the News a clip of the Trump interview in which he discusses accusations leveled by his detractors that he represents a danger to democracy.
The film, viewed by Just the News, begins with several celebrities hobnobbing with Trump decades earlier, including Jay Leno, David Letterman and the cast of "Saturday Night Live."
“Politicians and superstars lined up to be photographed with the embodiment of the American Dream. All that changed in 2015 when he crossed the political Rubicon and decided to run for president as a Republican,” D’Souza says in the movie.
In another section of the movie, D’Souza says: “Democrats, including Obama, sought to frame him as a Russian spy, an asset of Putin, a traitor to the United States. Traitors are typically shot or hanged; so this was an attempted political assassination.”
The film also includes a news clip of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. saying on CNN, ”I can make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy” than Trump.
It also includes a clip of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg saying on television: “Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The methodologies discussed don’t seem viable to me. Ballots in my county have detachable serial numbers that are scanned against the voter record. The only realistic cheating strategy that I know of starts with corrupt folks on the inside.

Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... 's Panjgur district, police said on late Saturday.
Police detailed that the labourers, hailing from different areas of Punjab, were residing in a house in the district's Khuda-e-Abadan area, where the incident occurred and left seven people dead and one maimed.
The Panjgur deputy commissioner also confirmed the gruesome incident and said that the attackers barged into the house and shot up the residents.
Police officials told the media that the dear departed and injured persons were shifted to Panjgur District Hospital.

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... — Khorasan Province (ISKP) at the Daykundi-Ghor border. The victims included former military personnel and civilians, accused of various offenses. The Taliban detained individuals for spreading critical content, being affiliated with anti-Taliban fronts, shaving their beards, or having ties to ISKP or the "Hizbut Tahrir ...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate... " group. These figures, based on reports from the Hasht-e Subh Daily, suggest that due to widespread repression and censorship, the actual number of executions and imprisonments may be higher.

ISKP grabbed credit for the attack.
Last week, the Taliban shot six people in Takhar province and displayed their bodies in a market in the Baharak district center. Local sources reported that the Taliban left the bodies on public display in "Qayoom Bazaar" in Baharak district on Friday, September 20, for several hours. The group did not provide details about the victims’ identities, but sources claimed that the Taliban executed them on charges of theft.

In the past month alone, three individuals were killed in Ghor, a former military member in Babaji district, Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province, a former security officer in Faryab province, a man and a woman in Shahristan district, Daykundi province, a young man in Mandol district, Nuristan province, another young man in Faryab province, the head of the previous government’s Directorate of Transportation in Nangarhar province, a student in Khost province ... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name... , a teacher in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province, a man in Rashidan district, Ghazni province, a young man in Laghman province, and a driver in Kunduz. The Taliban attribute these attacks to unidentified gangs, but sources accuse the Taliban of being responsible for most of these killings.
ARRESTS OF FORMER MILITARY PERSONNEL AND CIVILIANS BY THE TALIBAN
The Taliban have arrested a former military officer in Baghlan province, two former security forces members in Kabul, and one other individual in Nangarhar province. While the group offers no explanation for these arrests, sources close to the detainees report that the Taliban frequently target former military personnel, often accusing them of being involved in anti-Taliban activities as part of their broader Dire Revenge against those who once opposed them.
In addition to former security forces, the Taliban have arrested civilians and former babus government employees on various charges. Over the past month, they have detained around 65 individuals for reasons ranging from alleged collaboration with the National Resistance® Front of Afghanistan to shaving their beards, clashing with nomads, publishing satirical content, and criticizing the Taliban. Many detainees were coerced into making confessions. The Taliban have also arrested some of their own members on charges of affiliation with Islamic State — Khorasan Province (ISKP), as well as members of the "Hizbut Tahrir" group.
Reports show these arrests took place in Kabul, Takhar, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... , Panjshir, and Baghlan, and the whereabouts of many detainees remain unknown. Sources confirm that the families of those arrested are unaware of their relatives’ locations, and the Taliban have provided no further information. It has been reported multiple times that the Taliban arrest individuals on various pretexts, demanding money or weapons for their release.
In recent weeks, the Taliban have detained three civilians in Baghlan, four in Takhar, 25 in Ghazni, 17 in Panjshir, 15 in Badghis, and three in Herat. Although the Taliban regime employed some of these individuals after being hired during the previous government, the group has given no reasons for the arrests, which appear arbitrary. Sources claim many detainees have been tortured and coerced into making confessions.
INTERNAL PURGES AND ALLEGATIONS OF ISKP AFFILIATION
The Taliban are grappling with severe internal divisions, leading to multiple festivities among their commanders and fighters across various provinces. These confrontations have escalated into the use of both light and heavy weapons. Amid rising tensions, the Taliban have arrested several of their fighters in some provinces, accusing them of belonging to the Islamic State — Khorasan Province (ISKP).
On Saturday, September 14, sources informed Hasht-e Subh Daily that the Taliban arrested seven of their members on charges of collaborating with ISKP. According to these sources, the arrests targeted individuals within the Taliban’s military ranks, reflecting the group’s ongoing concerns about ISKP infiltrators in their ranks.
Taliban intelligence forces also arrested Amirjan Fouladi, a former military officer, in Bamyan province and transferred him to an undisclosed location. Fouladi’s family has not been informed of his whereabouts. Sources indicate he had recently served as the "Plan and Operations Manager" for the Taliban police command.
For over three years, the Taliban have openly supported commanders and fighters accused of crimes. When a video leaked showing a Taliban commander in Takhar province committing sexual assault, the group arrested the person who filmed the incident, not the perpetrator.
In addition, members of "Hizbut Tahrir," who previously collaborated with the Taliban before their rise to power, have also faced arrests. On Thursday, August 22, Taliban intelligence in Takhar province detained several members of the group in Kalafgan district, rejecting mediation attempts by local elders. The ''samples'' were later identified as kefir cheese with evidence of goat and cow's milk in the dairy product.
The research team wrote, "These 3,500-year-old kefir cheese samples are among the few dairy remains preserved more than 3,000 years and were produced by the Bronze Age Xiaohe population - a population that possesses mixed lifestyles and techniques.''

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front line and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU, 104th, and 118th Territorial Defence brigades near Dobrovolye, Rovnopol, and Zolotaya Niva (Donetsk People's Republic).
Three counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the AFU 72nd Mechanised Brigade were repelled. The AFU losses amounted to up to 125 troops, five motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155mm M-777 howitzer, and one 152mm D-20 gun.
Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of the 35th Naval Infantry Brigade, 39th Coastal Defence Brigade, and 124th Territorial Defence Brigade near Kopani (Zaporozhye region), Antonovka (Kherson region), and Kherson.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 60 troops, 10 motor vehicles, and one 122mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system. One AFU field ammunition depot was destroyed.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged AFU manpower and hardware clusters in 131 areas during the day.
Air defence units shot down four U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles and 43 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 646 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 32,331 unmanned aerial vehicles, 579 anti-aircraft missile systems, 18,447 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,469 MLRS combat vehicles, 15,345 field artillery guns and mortars, and 26,655 units of support military vehicles have been neutralised.
Units of the Sever Group of Forces continued offensive operations and inflicted losses on formations of the 21st, 22nd, 115th Mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd, 95th Air Assault brigades, 1st National Guard Brigade, 36th Naval Infantry Brigade, and 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade of the AFU near Lyubimovka, Daryino, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino, and Plekhovo.
Over the past 24 hours, units of the Sever Group of Forces repelled one enemy attack in the direction of Lyubimovka and thwarted attempts of the enemy to launch counter-attacks toward Kremyanoye, Kamyshevka, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.
As a result, the AFU losses amounted to up to 40 troops killed and wounded.
With the support of Army Aviation and artillery fire, five AFU attempts to break through the border of the Russian Federation towards Novy Put and Medvezhye were foiled.
The AFU losses amounted to more than 60 troops killed and wounded; two armoured fighting vehicles and two motor vehicles were destroyed.

Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 370 troops, eight units of hardware, including one tank, two U.S.-made M-2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, five armoured fighting vehicles, two artillery guns, and eight motor vehicles.
Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 18,130 troops, 132 tanks, 64 infantry fighting vehicles, 97 armoured personnel carriers, 842 armoured fighting vehicles, 541 motor vehicles, 145 artillery guns, 31 MLRS launchers, including eight of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, eight SAM launchers, five transport-loading vehicles, 37 electronic warfare stations and nine counter-battery radars, two air defence radars, 18 engineering vehicles, including 11 counterobstacle vehicles and one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, as well as one armoured recovery vehicle.
The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.

[GEO.TV] Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Saturday that his country was facing the threat of danger, after an Israeli airstrike the previous day killed the head of powerful Lebanese armed group Hassan Nasrallah.
Mikati was speaking at an emergency cabinet meeting that he convened upon returning from the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Mikati also announced that all state-run institutions would be closed on Monday.

[HotAir] Could the collapse of Hezbollah touch off a domino effect in the Middle East? Iran's primary proxy and the world's most powerful non-state organization didn't just keep Lebanon under Tehran's thumb, after all. Hassan Nasrallah played a key role in propping up Iranian puppet Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
And now Syrians are beginning to cheer their "disarray," as the New York Times puts it:
Even as most of the Middle East is overtaken by outrage at weeks of destructive Israeli strikes against Hezbollah and its leaders, some communities are celebrating the disarray of the powerful militia that persecuted them.
Nowhere is that sentiment as strong as in parts of Syria, where Hezbollah has played a key role in helping President Bashar al-Assad wage a brutal crackdown on opponents of his family’s decades-long rule, and where news of Israeli strikes on Hezbollah neighborhoods prompted singing in the streets of rebel strongholds.
Hezbollah’s origin story is in fighting Israel’s occupation of southern Lebanon, which ended in 2000, and fighting Israel is the mission central to its followers’ identity. But one of its biggest military roles over the past decade had actually been in Syria, helping its patron, Iran, keep Mr. Assad in power.
Hezbollah forces played a part in some of the most brutal chapters of the Syrian civil war, including sieges that starved encircled communities for months, as well as operations that expelled many Sunni Muslims, who were the backbone of the anti-Assad revolt, from neighborhoods and towns.
Assad only barely managed to prevail in the long and bloody Syrian civil war, even with help from Hezbollah, Iran, and Russia. Russia now has another bloody war and quagmire in Ukraine, and probably can't help out if a Hezbollah collapse triggers another popular uprising. Iran might have to take the field directly, but that would risk triggering a direct conflict with Israel, as they would first need to secure their position in Lebanon by reconstituting Hezbollah as their proxy.
For Syria, though, Iran can re-engage more directly with its Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). That too could prompt clashes with Israel, but Syria is going to be a secondary consideration for Benjamin Netanyahu while Israel deals with the remaining threats from Lebanon. If Assad starts looking wobbly, Ali Khamenei can't afford to ignore that threat. If Syria slips away from Iran's orbit, they will have almost no way to project power in the region.
Of course, Assad has had some considerable time to rebuild his position, too, so this eruption of joy could be premature. Especially over the last year, Assad has assisted Hezbollah at least to a similar extent that Hezbollah assisted Assad. And even if Aassad begins to falter and a popular uprising can oust him, the West might not want to start singing hosannas either. The short-term result of a collapse would likely boost the still-extant ISIS threats in Syria, and could result in an even worse tyrant taking power with the help of Iran's mullahs. There may not be too many worse options than Assad, but that number isn't zero either.
The real opportunity is next door. Lebanon has a functioning government with its own armed forces, which until now have been vastly outgunned by Hezbollah. Israel tried allying with them in the early 1980s in order to get a Druze-centered friendly government in Beirut while fighting against the PLO, which had touched off a civil war there after getting kicked out of Syria. That war and occupation ended up boosting the fortunes of Hezbollah as Iran muscled into the fight. Israel has another opportunity to help liberate Lebanon, but the Lebanese will have to fight for their freedom to win it.

About a month ago, it was reported in the Daily Mail the restaurant chain kicked out all of the regular dining patrons so they could stage actors as a campaign event for Kamals Harris in the Pittsburgh area.
The Harris campaign bussed in the press pool and a group of campaign supporters, essentially actors, to stage a photo shoot meet and greet and manufacture the appearance of support for Kamals Harris.
The August event was presented as “ordinary diners,” but was in fact a group of Harris campaign workers. Essentially this was typical astroturf sold as organic or authentic campaigning; it wasn’t. Everything around Kamala Harris is fake, manufactured and astroturf performance.
Staff at the restaurant told patrons they would have to leave at 4:00pm due to a ‘private event’ which turned out to be a campaign stop for Kamala Harris.
♦ In a remarkable contrast, today the same restaurant chain blocked republican VP nominee JD Vance from entering the building and campaigning.
A video taken by a diner within Primanti Brothers was posted on Twitter and quickly went viral. Apparently, most of the people inside the establishment immediately cancelled their orders as soon as they realized what was happening,
The barred JD Vance was undeterred and remained outside the building to thank people as they left. The video shows JD Vance telling those who were outraged that he paid for cancelled meals, left a tip and reminded the operator of the restaurant of the “no tax on tips” pledge from the campaign.

[GEO.TV] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday condemned Israel's recent attacks in Lebanon as part of what he called an Israeli policy of "genocide, occupation, and invasion", urging the UN Security Council and other bodies to stop Israel.
The Hezbollah group said on Saturday its leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has been killed, confirming his death after the Israeli military said it had eliminated him in an airstrike in Beirut the day before.
The Friday attack on Hezbollah's south Beirut stronghold that killed the Iran-backed group's leader was a "shameful attack" and "a crime that shows the Zionist entity has crossed all the red lines", Sudani said in a statement, calling Nasrallah "a martyr on the path of the righteous".
