New study identifies 150+ 'militant' anti-Israel groups on US campuses
[CampusReform]
  • Many of the organizations in the study are also involved in political movements outside of the Israel-Hamas conflict, including Queers for Palestine and BLM.

  • The study also found that many organizations explicitly support committing crime as a political tool.

The Capital Research Center (CRC) recently published a study entitled “Marching Towards Violence” that investigates the rise of militant left-wing anti-Semitism on the campuses of US colleges and universities, identifying more than 150 campus groups which explicitly support terrorism.

The authors listed twelve of the study’s conclusions, each of which emphasize the violent rhetoric maintained by many anti-Israel groups. In particular, the study notes that the majority of activist groups support crime as a method for achieving political goals.

“Some major groups and coalitions in the movement, including ‘mainstream’ civil society groups, directly encourage and assist criminal ‘direct actions’ such as seizing and damaging buildings,” the study concluded. “They also provide guides on how to avoid being identified and prosecuted by law enforcement.”

The study notes that these groups can broadly be separated into two categories, one composed of “Islamists, communists/Marxists, and anarchists” and the other primarily motivated by “white supremacist/nationalist ideologies.”

Study author Ryan Mauro told Campus Reform that although these two groups don’t tend to interact much, this trend may change in the near future.

”The trend is strongly in favor of consolidation between these factions,” Mauro said. “There is a realistic scenario where the U.S. is eventually faced with widespread instability or even a single uprising that composes of all the factions temporarily putting aside their differences.”

The CRC study also established that “significant militant elements within the movement are pushing the movement toward a wider and more severe campaign focused on property destruction and violence that can be credibly described as domestic terrorism.”

According to the study, most groups no longer even support a two-state solution to the Israel-Hamas conflict, instead calling for a complete and absolute obliteration of the Jewish state.

“The majority of the protesting groups seek the destruction of Israel, which fits the international legal definition of ‘genocide’—the very atrocity they purport to be trying to stop,” the study reads. “Only a tiny minority have proclaimed the goal of achieving a permanent two-state solution in which an independent Palestine and an independent Jewish state of Israel live peacefully.”

Many organizations on the list of 159 groups the study identifies as “pro-terrorism” are also involved in political advocacy that extends beyond the Israel-Hamas conflict, such as “Queers for Palestine,” “Queers Undermining Israeli Terror” (QUIT), and multiple regional arms of Black Lives Matter, including those in Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, and Phoenix.

Among these organizations, the study names Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) as the chief perpetrator of anti-Israel political rhetoric and action. In particular, the study notes that SJP, unlike other anti-Israel groups, claims to go beyond merely “supporting” the movement against Israel.

“That context is important for accurately understanding the text in SJP’s toolkit that declares, ‘We as Palestinian students in exile are PART of this movement, not in solidarity with this movement’ (original emphasis). The significance of this declaration cannot be overstated. SJP said it is Hamas,” the study reads. “It also refers to ‘our resistance’ when boasting about the success of Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel.”

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iranian 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' Allowed Israel to Take Out Key Nuke Research Site
[HotAir] Remember when Israel agreed to US terms to avoid nuclear sites while retaliating for Iran's massive ballistic missile attack? It turns out that the Iranians' attempts to play cute with the IAEA gave Israel an opening to destroy a key research facility -- and leave the Iranians unable to complain about it.

When the Iranians first began pursuing nuclear weapons, much of that work took place at a facility in Parchin. After their program got exposed, the Iranians shuttered Parchin and moved that work into more defensible locations. The Iranians have insisted ever since that Parchin no longer played an active role in nuclear research, but that turned out to be a lie, Axios reports. And both the US and Israel knew it:

  • Israeli and U.S. intelligence began detecting research activity at Parchin earlier this year, including Iranian scientists conducting computer modeling, metallurgy and explosive research that could be used for nuclear weapons.

Flashback: Last June, the White House officials privately warned the Iranians in direct conversations about the suspicious research activities, Axios reported.

  • The U.S. hoped the warning would make the Iranians stop their nuclear activity, but they continued, the officials said.

The concern over the Taleghan 2 facility at Parchin hit levels so high in US intelligence that they stopped reporting that they had no evidence of Iranian nuclear-weapons development. So when it came time to craft the response to the October 1 missile attacks, the Israelis had a golden opportunity to end that threat, or at least severely curtail it, without violating the agreement with the US. In any other administration, this would have had the blessing of the US, and perhaps it did:

  • President Biden asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to attack the Iranian nuclear facilities in order not to trigger a war with Iran, U.S. officials said.

  • But Taleghan 2 was not part of Iran's declared nuclear program so the Iranians wouldn't be able to acknowledge the significance of the attack without admitting they violated the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Now the Iranians can't complain about this target, not unless it wants to admit to pursuing nuclear weapons. The realization of this loss could explain why the Iranians went from shrugging off the Israeli retaliation to threats of a counter-retaliation strike almost immediately. Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
still insists that it will counter-retaliate at some point, in fact, although the outcome of the election in the US might have them thinking twice about it.

There's another reason for second thoughts, though:

  • "The strike was a not so subtle message that the Israelis have significant insight into the Iranian system even when it comes to things that were kept top secret and known to a very small group of people in the Iranian government," a U.S. official said.

That might have the Iranians thinking veeeerrrrrry carefully about escalation, too. Not only will the incoming US administration be much less likely to hold Israel back on target selection, they have to wonder what other targets Israel has in mind. They have already sussed out the activity at Parchin, which can't have been too big of a surprise after the American warning about it earlier in the year. The Israelis also penetrated the IRGC's security in successfully assassinating Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
in Tehran this summer. Without American pressure to avoid truly escalatory blows, Israel might just start hitting places where Iranian leadership hides out, as well as IRGC command and control functions.

At least this answers questions that arose after the retaliatory attack, when some of us scratched our heads over targeting selection. The real threats to Israel in Iran are the nuclear weapons and the leadership, so it didn't make sense to leave both untouched with this opportunity. The Iranians know the Israelis did attack and damage the former, and now have to decide whether to provoke Israeli into seriously attacking the latter.

US slaps sanctions on Syrian conglomerate for funding Quds Force and Houthis
[IsraelTimes] The US Treasury Department imposes sanctions on companies, individuals and vessels associated with a Syrian conglomerate that Washington says is funding Iran’s Quds Force and Yemen’s Houthis.

The Syrian conglomerate, the Al-Qatirji Company, is responsible for generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the Quds Force and the Houthis through the sale of Iranian oil to Syria and China, the department says in a statement.

“Iran is increasingly relying on key business partners like the Al-Qatirji Company to fund its destabilizing activities and web of terrorist proxies across the region,” says department official Bradley Smith.

The Al-Qatirji Company had already been under sanctions for its role in facilitating the sale of fuel between the Syrian regime and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the department says. Some 26 companies, individuals and vessels associated with the company were targeted in today’s action, it adds.

Number of daily rockets fired by Hezbollah has dropped over past week, says IDF
From 3 days ago.
[IsraelTimes] The IDF has seen a decrease in the number of rockets fired by Hezbollah at Israel in the past week, down to under 100 a day on average, compared with 150-200 a day last month and in the months before that.

Today, Hezbollah has fired at least 25 rockets at the north. Yesterday, the terror group launched 50, and the day before that it launched 55.

The major exception was on Monday, when Hezbollah launched 190 rockets at Israel, as the terror group commemorated its martyrs’ day.

The military assesses that Hezbollah is struggling to carry out major barrages, as most of its rocket stockpiles have been targeted and dozens of its commanders have been killed. Before the war, the IDF had assessed that Hezbollah would fire thousands of rockets per day in an escalation.

After desalination plant hooked up to Israeli power grid, Gazans line up for drinking water

...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. to fill up containers of clean drinking water — a resource they have barely had any access to during the war.
Unaware that Juice juice will make their pee-pees fall off?
The plant previously operated for just three to four hours a day. The Israeli military said they connected the UN-built plant in the western part of Deir al-Balah to Israel’s power grid to increase the amount of drinking water in Gaza.

News Agency that Dare Not be Named video shows people lining up at the Southern Gaza Desalination Plant, with children filling jerry cans and containers with water.

The plant, which was built by UNICEF in 2017, can desalinate 20,000 cubic meters of water per day and will provide drinking water to Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah and the Muwasi humanitarian area. The electricity provided by Israel will go only to the desalination plant.

"The amount of water will increase... it will remain available for 24 hours and life will become easier," says Muhammad Shehab, who was displaced from Gaza City.

Ethiopia Insists To Continue War On Al-Shabaab Despite AU Mission Exclusion
[ShabelleMedia] In a resolute declaration, Æthiopia has affirmed its commitment to combat al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
, stating that its efforts to "weaken the group will continue in any way possible" to safeguard national security, according to Ambassador Nebiat Getachew during a weekly briefing on November 14, 2024.

The Æthiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson underscored the ongoing threat posed by the Death Eater group, saying, "Al-Shabaab remains a concern for our national security, and efforts to counter it will continue in all circumstances to prevent it from becoming a threat or allowing any footholds to resurface."

This statement comes in the wake of Somalia’s announcement that Æthiopia would be excluded from the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), set to begin in January 2025. Somalia’s Defense Minister, Abdulkadir Mohammed Nur, cited Æthiopia’s recent maritime agreement with Somaliland
...Republic of Somaliland is an unrecognised sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, recognised internationally as a de jure part of Somalia. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which united from 1960 to 1991 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic. Under the Siad Barre regime, Somaliadestroyed ninety percent of Hargeisa Per international law, once you're in, you gotta stay in, no matter how bad it smells....
as a violation of Somalia’s illusory sovereignty.

The AU’s peacekeeping mission, initially launched as AMISOM in 2007 to assist Somalia against al-Shabaab, transitioned into ATMIS before its scheduled conclusion in December. The new mission, AUSSOM, is designed to support Somalia until 2028 with a force of around 12,000 troops.

The tension between Æthiopia and Somalia has escalated following an agreement on January 1, 2024, between Æthiopia and the breakaway region of Somaliland, where Æthiopia seeks sea access in return for potentially recognizing Somaliland’s independence. This has led to Somalia’s firm stance against Æthiopian inclusion in the forthcoming AU mission, highlighting the complex interplay of regional politics, security, and illusory sovereignty.

Æthiopia’s Foreign Ministry insists on a strategy that not only focuses on security but also on fostering long-term regional integration, viewing its relationship with Somalia as "inseparable" despite the current diplomatic frictions.

Somali Security Forces Arrest Two Al-Shabaab Operatives in Coordinated Raids
[ShabelleMedia] The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has successfully apprehended two operatives linked to the al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
in separate operations, the agency confirmed today.

Keyse Farah Hassan, identified as a medical doctor, was captured in the Jilib district where he allegedly provided treatment to al-Shabaab fighters. In a parallel operation in Mogadishu, Kooshin Mohamud Ahmed was arrested. Ahmed is accused of managing the care for maimed and sick al-Shabaab members within the capital’s hospitals.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab publicly executes suspected 'spies'
[Garowe] The al-Qaeda-linked group in Somalia; al-Shabaab
... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
, has resolved to punish civilians suspected of collaborating with the Somali National Army (SNA), following a series of setbacks in central and southern regions of the country for the last two years.

On Friday, the bully boyz carried out the public execution of two men accused of collaborating with Somali forces in a village near Janale, approximately 90 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu, witnesses said.

The killings took place in Busley Daoud, a locale firmly under al-Shabaab's influence, where Mohammed Abdulkhadir Ali, 21, and Mohamud Hassan Ali, 20, were rubbed out, witnesses added, noting the notorious conduct of the group.

Abdulkhadir Ali was accused by al-Shabaab of aiding forces in Marka, in the Lower Shabelle region, and Hassan Ali was said to have assisted government troops in Aden Yabaal, Middle Shabelle, a district recently liberated by the Somalia military, residents said.

It is not the first time the al-Shabaab group has executed those accused of collaborating with 'enemies' and the common allegations would be — that they work with foreign soldiers or government troops in various parts of the country.

The al-Shabaab bully boyz lost strategic towns across Somalia for the last two years after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declared total war against them. The Somali National Army in collaboration with the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) have jointly made the gains.

Besides military operations, the government of Somalia has immensely invested in tracking illegal checkpoints and blocking the group’s sources of finances, including illegal taxation — not excluding revocation of business permits of traders supporting them and closing bank accounts and mobile money transfer firms associated with the group.

But even with the gains, squabbles among the elites in the country have tremendously affected the spirit — including trigging the group’s resurgence due to much focus on political feuds.

Former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed voiced grave concerns about Somalia's situation during a presser in Mogadishu on Saturday, suggesting that the country is at risk of not even being able to conduct an indirect election, let alone a democratic one.

Opposition leaders, including Ahmed, have questioned "whether there will even be a handover of power," highlighting the deepening crisis in governance as the nation struggles with ongoing security issues and political discord.

But earlier, Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi accused opposition leaders of being swayed by foreign entities in response to claims that government officials have been auctioning off public land in Mogadishu.

Fiqi also issued a stern warning to those critiquing President Hassan Sheikh's administration, stating, "If they don't stop tarnishing the image of this country, we will take action." Analysts believe these internal rifts could significantly deal a blow to the war against al-Shabaab.

Over 1500 Nigerians Killed In October Alone In 861 Incidents Of Kidnapping, Attacks – Report
[SaharaReporters] At least 1545 persons have been killed and 971 others kidnapped across the country in October 2024, as reported by a security organization, the Beacon Security and Intelligence Limited (BSIL).

According to the security report from BSIL, this comes amid the rise of the new terror group, "Lakurawa" in the northwest region.

The October 2024 Nigeria Security Report of the organization highlights deteriorating security conditions, with a 51% rise in fatalities and 24.42% increase in abductions.

"We just published our October report. What it says is that the situation has really deteriorated," said Dr Kabir Adamu, BSIL’s CEO. "If it continues at this rate, perhaps we are likely to get more fatality in Nigeria."

Throughout October, 861 incidents were recorded, with 64.92% linked to security threats and 67.70% of fatalities being civilian deaths.

The North-East and North-West saw the most incidents, while the South-East experienced the fewest.

Dr Adamu stressed that poor socio-economic conditions, political instability, and climate change fuel insecurity.

"We have a very weak and ineffective security management system that has not been able to address the root causes and manifestation of insecurities in the country," he explained.

The report also noted Nigeria’s failure to implement its three main counter-terrorism laws effectively.

Dr Adamu emphasised the importance of these measures, which include securing borders and forming partnerships with neighbouring countries, stating, "Most Nigerians are not even aware of the existence of these documents."

Millions Of Dollars Meant For Boko Haram Fight Invested In U.S. Luxury Real Estate Tied To Ex-Nigerian Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, Allies
[SaharaReporters] A new report released by the Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF) has revealed that the former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, invested millions of dollars in American luxury real estate.

Dasuki was previously charged with diverting billions of Naira meant for the fight against Boko Haram

The PPLAAF report stated that tens of millions allegedly misappropriated by Dasuki ended up funding luxury properties in Los Angeles, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, and McLean, Virginia, a wealthy suburb of Washington, DC.

PPLAAF stated that it examined thousands of pages of property deeds, corporate filings, bank records, and court documents from both Nigeria and the U.S., tracing funds to high-end properties purchased by Dasuki’s close associates, Robert and Mimie Oshodin.

The report stated that records indicate that the Oshodins received at least $27 million from Dasuki’s office and invested similar sums in U.S. real estate.

"Our investigation shows how the fight for accountability in Nigeria is undermined when nations like the U.S. ignore corruption. It’s a grave issue when those entrusted to protect citizens siphon public money for personal luxury," stated Jimmy Kande, PPLAAF’s West Africa Director.

"The U.S. can and should do more, both morally and legally," Kande added.

Recall that in 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian authorities alerted the U.S. Department of Justice about the allegations involving Dasuki and the Oshodins, urging them to track the money trail. Despite this, the Oshodins continued to acquire and sell properties.

A new report released by the Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF) has revealed that the former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, Sambo Dasuki, invested millions of dollars in American luxury real estate.

Dasuki was previously charged with diverting billions of Naira meant for the fight against Boko Haram holy warriors during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The PPLAAF report stated that tens of millions allegedly misappropriated by Dasuki ended up funding luxury properties in Los Angeles, California, and McLean, Virginia, a wealthy suburb of Washington, DC.

PPLAAF stated that it examined thousands of pages of property deeds, corporate filings, bank records, and court documents from both Nigeria and the U.S., tracing funds to high-end properties purchased by Dasuki’s close associates, Robert and Mimie Oshodin.

"The U.S. can and should do more, both morally and legally," Kande added.

Recall that in 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian authorities alerted the U.S. Department of Justice about the allegations involving Dasuki and the Oshodins, urging them to track the money trail. Despite this, the Oshodins continued to acquire and sell properties.

Dasuki, appointed National Security Adviser in 2012 under then-president Goodluck Jonathan, was tasked with coordinating the response to Boko Haram’s insurgency, which caused widespread violence and displacement in Nigeria and neighboring countries.

Nigerian authorities allege that through fake procurement deals and dubious contracts, Dasuki embezzled over $2 billion intended for the anti-terrorism campaign.

After Muhammadu Buhari took office in 2015, Dasuki was dismissed and later arrested in connection with the scandal, often called "Dasukigate."

As part of its investigation, PPLAAF said it identified multiple assets linked to the Dasukigate scandal.

Soon after Dasuki’s 2012 appointment, he began transferring large sums to the Oshodins, who were acting as legal guardians to two of his children in the U.S. During this period, the couple invested around $24 million in U.S. real estate, often coinciding with transfers from Dasuki’s office.

The largest transaction was the purchase of a $9.5 million Los Angeles mansion on the same day Dasuki’s office transferred $12 million to the Oshodins’ furniture business in Nigeria.

Court filings obtained by PPLAAF indicate that the Oshodins stored tens of millions in jewelry, including a ring valued at over $3 million, along with expensive furnishings and antiquities, in their Los Angeles mansion.

Although the Nigerian authorities informed the U.S. of the allegations in 2018, the Oshodins continued their real estate dealings and still own properties valued at $20 million in Los Angeles and McLean.

Nigeria’s investigation into the Oshodins suggests serious gaps in U.S. oversight of illicit financial flows in real estate.

Recently, the U.S. has strengthened measures to curb such flows, requiring investment advisers and real estate professionals to report all cash purchases by companies and trusts.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
Nigeria continues to face challenges in recovering assets and prosecuting cases tied to Dasukigate, with persistent coordination and judicial delays. The Dasukigate scandal remains a critical test of Nigeria’s commitment to combat corruption.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
a stately mansion worth $2.8 million in McLean, Virginia, has become the subject of intrigue after reports connected its owner to a sprawling corruption scandal involving Nigeria’s former national security adviser.

The luxurious property, nestled at the end of a private drive and featuring amenities like a climate-controlled wine cellar, sauna, and four fireplaces, seemed to blend seamlessly with the wealth of the Washington, D.C., suburbs — until questions arose about its elusive owner.

Neighbors recall that the man, who introduced himself briefly upon purchasing the home, quickly vanished, leaving the grand, nine-foot carved-wood doors tightly shut, The Washington Post reports following the report of a fresh investigation shared with it by the Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF).

Within this upscale McLean neighborhood, called The Ridings, properties are typically owned by successful professionals, including a plastic surgeon, a corporate lawyer, and the CEO of a defense consulting firm, according to local property records.

Yet the man’s sudden disappearance left some neighbors wondering what was happening within the grand residence.

According to Nigerian court filings, the mansion’s owner, a family friend of Nigeria’s former national security adviser, is alleged to have been involved in laundering funds misappropriated from the Nigerian government.

The country’s authorities accuse the former security adviser of siphoning off over $2 billion, a portion of which was allegedly routed to the mansion’s owner.

U.S. properties — like the McLean mansion and other high-end residences — are suspected to be among the assets purchased to launder the misappropriated funds.

Further deepening the intrigue, the owner of the McLean property was also linked to a separate incident involving an insurance claim for jewelry theft from another luxurious property near Beverly Hills, California.

The combined allegations have painted a complex portrait of wealth and scandal, connecting the quiet Virginia neighborhood to an international web of alleged financial crime.

The Washington Post reports that the allegations against him highlight a growing global concern: the U.S. real estate market has become a refuge for corrupt officials and criminals worldwide to hide illicit funds through opaque shell companies.

Next year, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the U.S. Treasury Department will implement a new rule that mandates title companies and other parties to gather information on specific real estate sales, focusing on transactions where the buyer is a trust or another legal entity that pays in cash.

"With many American neighborhoods facing affordable housing crises, stopping dirty money from entering the residential real estate market is more crucial than ever," said Bradley T. Smith, the Treasury Department’s acting undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, in a statement to The Washington Post.

In reporting this story, The Washington Post received court documents, property records, and analyses from the Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa, a Gay Paree-based anticorruption group.

The Premium Times, a Nigerian news organization, was also involved in a broader investigation into real estate money laundering. The Post verified and supplemented the information independently.

To a visitor, the quiet McLean cul-de-sac would appear ordinary, with its private drive, manicured lawns, and neatly trimmed rosebushes. But behind its doors, Nigerian law enforcement officials allege, lies a story of embezzlement, corruption, and global money laundering.

In 2014, in the northeastern town of Chibok in Nigeria, forces of Evil known as Boko Haram stormed a boarding school and kidnapped 276 schoolgirls.

The incident sparked the global #BringBackOurGirls movement, supported by Reese Witherspoon, Michelle Obama, and Pope Francis

...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. .

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
the kidnapping drew international attention to Boko Haram, an insurgency using violent mostly peaceful tactics to impose strict Islamic law across Nigerian society.

Bob Oshodin, an 83-year-old entrepreneur, developed his carpentry skills at a young age in Nigeria, as stated in his bio on the archived website of his furniture manufacturing company, Bob Oshodin Organization Limited.

Interestingly, Oshodin formed a lasting bond with Sambo Dasuki, and their friendship spans decades. According to Oshodin's wife, Mimie, the two became close friends after meeting while living in the United States for extended periods.

The families were close enough that the Oshodins agreed to look after two of Dasuki’s children, then teenagers, who were attending school in the United States while Dasuki served as Nigeria’s national security adviser.

It was also during this time, Nigerian officials alleged, that Dasuki illegally transferred tens of millions of dollars’ worth of Nigerian and U.S. currency from state funds to the Oshodins’ furniture company.

China patrols at disputed shoal; Manila summons Beijing’s envoy
[BenarNews] The combat readiness patrols took place days after Beijing delimited its territorial sea around the shoal.

China on Wednesday conducted combat readiness patrols at the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea to reinforce its claim while Manila summoned China’s envoy to protest against its marking of a baseline around the disputed reef, media reported.

The People’s Liberation Army Southern Theater Command said in a statement that it "organized naval and air forces to conduct combat readiness patrols in the territorial waters and airspace of China’s Huangyan Island and surrounding areas." The command referred to the reef by its Chinese name.

The patrols were carried out "in accordance with the law," the command added.

On Sunday, the Chinese unilaterally delimited and announced baselines around Scarborough Shoal, a triangular chain of reefs about 125 nautical miles (232 kilometers) from Luzon, the main Philippine island. The shoal, known in the Philippines as Bajo de Masinloc, is claimed by China, the Philippines and Taiwan, but has been under Beijing’s de facto control since 2012.

By delimiting the baselines, China claims the 12-nautical-mile territorial sea and airspace around the shoal that lies within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone. Beijing requires foreign vessels to report their presence to the China Maritime Administration when entering its territorial seas.

Manila has yet to react to the news of the patrols, but the Philippine Presidential Office for Maritime Concerns on Tuesday protested against the Chinese baselines announcement, calling it a violation of "the Philippines’ long-established illusory sovereignty over the shoal."

On Wednesday, the Philippines summoned China’s ambassador to reinforce its protest.

"The said baselines infringe upon Philippine illusory sovereignty and contravene international law," media cited the ministry saying in a statement.

’VICTIM OF CHINESE AGGRESSION’
On Tuesday, Philippine Defense Minister Gilberto Teodoro said that China was stepping up pressure on his country to concede its sovereign rights in the South China Sea, adding that the Philippines was a "victim of Chinese aggression."

A Chinese front man blamed Manila.

"Every escalation of maritime disputes between China and the Philippines was triggered by the infringement activities and provocations of the Philippines," said a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian.

"It was the Philippines who took infringement activities first and China had to take necessary measures in accordance with law to safeguard our lawful rights and interests," the spokesperson added. "If the Philippines stops infringement activities and provocations, there will be no trouble at sea."

There has been no reported Philippine drills at Scarborough Shoal but the Chinese military regularly holds patrols here, the last time in September.

Government Corruption
The 'Wokeness' Purge Has Already Begun
The headline is a tad overexcited: the work necessary to purge the woke has begun. Purges will follow after the information is collected.
[RedState] President-elect Donald Trump
...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania...
has not even taken office yet, but Republicans have reportedly already started the effort to purge wokeness from the federal government.

Several conservative groups are currently in a campaign to identify federal employees who are partisan or possibly resistant to enacting Trump’s agenda, according to a CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
report. These groups include the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project and the American Accountability Foundation.

The organizations have flooded federal agencies with tens of thousands of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests demanding access to emails, personnel records, and other communications between babus government employees. The effort is part of a comprehensive strategy to lay the groundwork for mass firings of civil servants under Trump’s Schedule F executive order issued in 2020, which was later revoked under President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
The measure would reclassify certain federal positions that are involved in policy-making, policy determining, or policy-advocating roles in a way that would exempt them from typical civil service protections. This would make it easier for the president to fire these individuals.

Mike Howell, executive director of the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project, told CNN that his organization "has submitted around 65,000 requests to federal agencies under the Freedom of Information Act."

The report continued:

The Department of Transportation, for example, has received about 1,600 FOIA requests through the first nine months of 2024, and about 1,075 came from three people all tied to the Heritage Foundation Oversight Project, according to a CNN review of the agency’s FOIA logs.

Howell has sent requests to these agencies to unearth “conspiracies to subvert the president-elect’s expected purging by asking for emails that include ‘Trump’ and ‘reduction in force.’”

The American Accountability Foundation recently published the names of 60 individuals in the Homeland Security Department (DHS) who they believe might try to hamper the president-elect’s agenda, CNN reported:

The list includes senior-level employees who donated to Democratic candidates or causes, previously worked for groups that advocate for more liberal immigration policies or posted on social media about their efforts to assist immigrants who arrived in the US seeking legal status.

The initiative also targets diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and those involved in promoting them in the federal government.

Predictably, this effort has frightened members of the bureaucracy in several federal agencies, who characterized it as “the potential weaponization of internal agency emails.” Some have even taken action to conceal their political leanings:

The efforts have alarmed agency officials and unions representing federal workers. One source for a union representing Environmental Protection Agency workers characterized the effort as the potential weaponization of internal agency emails. In response, the source said that EPA employees are “putting as little as possible in any written form.”

The union for EPA employees has submitted its own requests for information to get names of EPA employees who may be at risk, but it has not received a response because the agency’s FOIA office has been inundated with requests from Trump allies.

This initiative suggests that conservatives are learning their lesson from Trump’s first term in office, which dealt with bureaucrats and officials working to impede his agenda. The move will likely cause quite a stir on the airwaves and interwebs, especially if and when the mass firings begin after Trump takes office.

Trump Is Suing the Mainstream Media-- and They Ought to Be Afraid
[Townhall] President-elect Donald Trump
...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried....
filed a lawsuit on Friday, vowing to bring justice to his name after years of attacks from the mainstream media.

The incoming 47th president announced he is suing several media outlets, including the New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, CBS News, Penguin Random House, and the Daily Beast, alleging widespread bias and defamation. Trump’s lawyer, Edward Andrew Paltzik, demands $10 billion in damages for publishing defamatory material.

In the lawsuit, Trump accused the mainstream media of "defaming and disparaging" him during coverage of the election and making "false and defamatory statements."

The NYT was at the center of the lawsuit. In the 19-page filing, Trump’s lawyers wrote that the newspaper has been "a full-throated mouthpiece of the Democratic party" that engages in "industrial-scale libel against political opponents." They also accused the publication of having "every intention of defaming and disparaging the world-renowned Trump brand that consumers have long associated with excellence, luxury, and success in entertainment, hospitality, and real estate, among many other industries, as well as falsely and maliciously defaming and disparaging him as a candidate for the highest office in the United States."

The lawsuit specifically mentions the work written by journalists Peter Baker, Michael S. Schmidt, Susanne Craig, and Russ Buettner, including a book titled Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success. Another headline was "As Election Nears, Kelly Warns Trump Would Rule Like a Dictator."

The New York Times denied the claims, insisting its reporting has been accurate and evidence-based. CBS News also brushed off the allegations, dismissing the lawsuit as "completely without merit." The Washington Post called the claims "improper" and "baseless." Penguin Random House also stood by their reporting.

Critics claim the lawsuits incite attacks on press freedom, raising concerns about the future of the media.
The process IS the punishment as Libs used to like to say

From Dinner With Donald Trump: We have not forgotten you. Hold on. Justice is coming
[X]

… The first song Trump played gave the entire club chills…

Trump played “Justice For All” a patriotic song he recorded with the J6 Prison Choir, a group of 20 men imprisoned after the riot at the United States Capitol. The profits from the song are dedicated to the legal aid for political prisoners incarcerated by the Biden regime.

The entire club stood in reverent silence as the haunting song rung out across the cavernous halls.

This was a defiant message from President-Elect Trump to January 6th political prisoners: ‘We have not forgotten you. Hold on. Justice is coming…’⚡️

Harris campaign struggling to pay senior staffers amid post-election financial straits
[Wash Examiner] Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign is struggling to meet its financial promises to personnel amid continued hardships following the presidential election, according to reports.

The granular details of the Harris campaign’s current finances are not known, but a steady stream of leaks by disgruntled insiders close to the organization paint the picture of a tense cash crunch that’s left a bad taste in the mouth of many employees.
Really? They went there?
The campaign made the decision to freeze payments to its senior staffers this week — despite previous promises to keep those employed on the pay rolls through December, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Trump's Victory, the "Educated," and the "Un-Educated"
[News With Views] A recent article in the U.K’s left wing newspaper The Guardian caught my eye when its author, Peter Hyman, put his finger on something important.

Many American conservatives, he said, didn’t vote for Trump because they thought he was a savior. They voted for Trump [because] they despise his most visible enemy: the organized left. They see leftists as both dishonest and power-hungry, and think you’d have to be blind to miss it.

Another article on the same site actually put it that way, calling it a "simple, inescapable message" that many people despise the left.

I probably have to count myself in that category, however uncomfortable I am saying so.

I don’t despise leftists as individuals. If they talk respectfully to me, I’ll talk respectfully to them. But as a group?

A major reason we despise leftists as a group: their air of moral superiority (epistemic superiority as well) wrapped in arrogance and virtue-signaling, all alongside an almost-unbelievable lack of self-awareness.

The resounding Trump victory has motivated at least some self-awareness, and may shatter other delusions, given time. Hence Hyman’s article. And Harris’s. We’re seeing more than a few leftists groping towards something like an examination of their assumptions.

Hyman quoted Tucker Carlson who provided a clear statement of what probably motivated a lot of Trump voters:

"They tell you, the people who can actually change a tire, who pay your taxes and work 40 hours a week, that you are somehow immoral. We have a message for them: you are not better than us, you are not smarter than us."

Despite using the smug word "swagger" to describe Carlson’s demeanor, what Hyman says next is worthy of comment:

"To dismiss this as the politics of grievance is to dismiss what it feels like to be disrespected, to feel ’a stranger in your own land.’ To feel as though the college-educated are looking down at the non-college-educated."

Hyman thus puts his finger on the meat of what I want to discuss here: this presumption that only "the non-college-educated" support Trump. Only the deluded, those confused by "misinformation" and "conspiracy theories" (two of leftists’ favorite words).

I have three advanced degrees, and I voted for Trump.

I know many other exceptions to the simple-minded dichotomy between the credentialed who fancy themselves "too smart," versus the non-credentialed who are presumed too stupid to direct their own lives.

I got a degree in Chemistry, Class of 1981, Harvard, married then with three kids (missed physics and chemistry by one credit. Still hurts. But still learning.) That after 10 years in the Airborne Infantry (E6, 11B4P 3/503rd 173rd Abn (Sep) RVN and 1st Bde 2/508th 82nd Abn Div). Still alive, though TBH diminished. Still a pain in the ass.

Russia's Gazprom Shuts Off Natural Gas Shipments to Austria
[Breitbart] Russia’s state-owned natural gas company Gazprom stopped supplies to Austria early Saturday, according to the Vienna-based utility OMV after it said it would stop payments for the gas following an arbitration award.

The official cutoff of supplies before dawn Saturday came after Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Friday held a hastily called news conference to emphasize his country has a secure supply of alternative fuel for this winter.

OMV said it would stop paying for Gazprom gas to its Austrian arm to offset a 230 million-euro ($242 million) arbitration award it won from the International Chamber of Commerce over an earlier cutoff of gas to its German subsidiary.

The Austrian utility said in an email that no gas delivery was made from 6 a.m. on Saturday.

OMV said Wednesday it has sufficient stocks to provide gas to its customers in case of a potential disruption by Gazprom, and said storage in Austria was at more than 90%.
Perhaps Austria can make a deal with American suppliers.

Migrant Who Had AR-15 During Alleged Assault on Officers is Back on Street
[Breitbart] A migrant of unknown legal status is back on the streets after allegedly assaulting NYPD officers in the course of resisting arrest on November 5, 2024.

The migrant had an AR-15 rifle in his backpack at the time of the incident.

FOX News identified the migrant as 2o-year-old Abraham Sosa, noting that a second migrant, Christopher Mayren, allegedly interfered when officers tried to arrest Sosa.

The AR-15 fell out of Sosa’s backpack during the altercation with officers.

Sosa and Mayren were both eventually arrested and taken into custody, at which time Sosa was found to allegedly be in possession of one of the officer’s phones.

The New York Post noted that both the migrants are back on the streets after Sosa [posted] a $25,000 bond and Mayren [was] released without bail.”

Tattoos on Mayren’s arms suggested he is linked to a Mexican cartel.

A Bronx detective told the Post, “This is crazy. You have a member of a Mexican cartel running around. That tattoo is a billboard for ‘I am a criminal. I don’t care about your laws.’”

Kamala Harris's Campaign Spent $12 Million on Private Jets
[Breitbart] Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign spent a whopping $2.6 million on private jets alone in just two weeks towards the end of her failing campaign, bringing its total private air travel costs to at least $12 million.

Finance records viewed by the New York Post revealed that the Harris campaign shelled out nearly $2.2 million to Florida company Private Jet Services Group and another $430,000 to Virginia company Advanced Aviation Team between October 1 and October 17.

The money spent on private jets as Election Day neared brought the campaign’s bill for the mode of transportation to a “staggering” $12 million, the outlet reported.

The total amount of money spent on private jets may be even higher after the last couple weeks of Harris’s campaign filings are published by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

She is now facing backlash for her “hypocrisy” by using such an un-environmentally-friendly method of travel.

Other things the campaign splurged on includes $12,097 on Uber Eats and DoorDash food and at least $12,081 on ice cream, the Post reported.

The Harris campaign fell $20 million in debt during the final week of her campaign, Breitbart News reported.

Trump transition team compiling list of current and former U.S. military officers for possible courts-martial
[NBCnews] All of the officers were involved in the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, which independent reviews have blamed on both the Trump and Biden administrations.

The Trump transition team is compiling a list of senior current and former U.S. military officers who were directly involved in the withdrawal from Afghanistan and exploring whether they could be court-martialed for their involvement, according to a U.S. official and a person familiar with the plan.

Officials working on the transition are considering creating a commission to investigate the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, including gathering information about who was directly involved in the decision-making for the military, how it was carried out, and whether the military leaders could be eligible for charges as serious as treason, the U.S. official and person with knowledge of the plan said.

“They’re taking it very seriously,” the person with knowledge of the plan said.

The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Matt Flynn, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense for counternarcotics and global threats, is helping lead the effort, the sources said. It is being framed as a review of how the U.S. first got into the war in Afghanistan and how the U.S. ultimately withdrew.

It is not clear, though, what would legally justify “treason” charges since the military officers were following the orders of President Joe Biden to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

A 2022 independent review by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction blamed both the Trump and Biden administrations for the chaotic U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

Trump first reached an agreement with the Taliban in 2020 to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan, roughly 13,000 troops, and release 5,000 Taliban fighters from prison. The Biden administration then completed the withdrawal and badly overestimated the ability of Afghan government forces to fight the Taliban on their own.

Trump’s choice for secretary of defense, Fox News personality Pete Hegseth, has criticized the withdrawal, saying the U.S. lost the war and wasted billions of dollars.

In his book “The War on Warriors,” Hegseth wrote, “The next president of the United States needs to radically overhaul Pentagon senior leadership to make us ready to defend our nation and defeat our enemies. Lots of people need to be fired. The debacle in Afghanistan, of course, is the most glaring example.”

Hegseth calls the withdrawal a “humiliating retreat” and says leaders at the Pentagon were not held accountable for the deadly attack at Abbey Gate, which killed 13 U.S. service members and roughly 170 Afghan civilians. Nor were they held accountable for a subsequent U.S. airstrike in Kabul that officials thought would kill the Islamic State group leader behind the suicide attack but instead killed 10 innocent Afghans, including seven children, he wrote.

“These generals lied. They mismanaged. They violated their oath. They failed. They disgraced our troops, and our nation. They got people killed, unnecessarily,” he wrote. “And, to this moment, they keep their jobs. Worse, they continue to actively erode our military and its values — by capitulating to civilians with radical agendas. They are an embarrassment, with stars still on their shoulders.”

The transition team is looking at the possibility of recalling several commanders to active duty for possible charges, the U.S. official said.

It’s not clear the Trump administration would pursue treason charges, and instead could focus on lesser charges that highlight the officer’s involvement. “They want to set an example,” said the person with knowledge of the plan.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Though ham-handed, report on Gazan anger at Hamas appears to reflect waning support
[IsraelTimes] Individuals in Strip say Palestinians no longer cheer rocket fire and some express happiness with defeat of terror organization, but
say it’s time for Israel to end the war as well

For the first time since war broke out over a year ago, Israel’s military permitted a journalist in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
to speak to Paleostinian civilians there last week. The result, aired by Channel 12 news on Sunday, offered a significantly filtered peek into the mindset of displaced Gazook women and kiddies from Jabalia in northern Gaza.

Against a backdrop of debris, dust and armed Israeli soldiers, some residents speaking to the channel’s Paleostinian affairs news hound Ohad Hemo vented their frustration at Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
, shouting and cursing the terror group ruling Gaza for the devastation it wreaked on their lives.

"I swear I was happy when you killed [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar, who caused destruction and killed our children," one woman was filmed shouting. "God willing you’ll destroy them."

For over a year, Israeli and foreign journalists have only been able to enter Gaza from Israel under IDF oversight and were taken solely to areas devoid of civilians to document the military’s activities. CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s Clarissa Ward appears to have been the sole Western journalist who independently crossed into Gaza, speaking to Paleostinians inside a field hospital in December.

Hamas also strictly controls reporting out of Gaza and has threatened journalists who report on the group’s terror activities. For the past year, the only major outlet allowed by Hamas to operate inside the Gaza Strip has been Al Jazeera, which is known to have close ties with the terror group, portraying it as a "resistance movement."

To some observers, Hemo’s report appeared to be a piece of clumsy propaganda, portraying a sanitized view of Gazooks supposedly welcoming the Israelis as liberators rather than capturing a balanced view of Gazook sentiment. Many of the comments dovetailed neatly with claims the army has made of evacuating Gazook civilians expressing anger at Hamas.

Given the famine and devastation many Gazooks have gone through, some have concluded that respondents were speaking under pressure, and might have directed their rage toward Israel as well for bombing their homes had they not been speaking to an Israeli journalist in front of Israeli soldiers as they traversed an Israeli-administered evacuation zone to escape Israeli fire.

"In vain I waited for the frame to open up a bit and for Hemo to show Israelis the incomprehensible scope of destruction, which would perhaps explain why a line of desperate, tired, thirsty and hungry refugees were standing in front of his cameras, willing to say exactly what the soldiers standing outside the frame wish to hear," wrote Haaretz’s Shany Littman.

Even those on the far-right were unimpressed, complaining that the comments did not reflect their view of all Gazooks as Hamas supporters undeserving of sympathy. "Tonight in reality: the abhorrence of the propagandist media and the understanding of the Israeli public that there is not a single person [in Gaza] who is innocent," tweeted one prominent settler krazed killer in response to a promo for the report.

Yet the comments captured by Hemo did accurately reflect the view of at least some inside Gaza, according to three individuals who recently spoke with The Times of Israel. (Their names have been changed for safety.)

Polls by the Paleostinian Center for Policy and Survey Research also point to waning support for Hamas among Gazooks, with only 39 percent in the Strip reporting a positive view of the group in September, down from 64% in June.

Mark, a European aid worker managing logistics for a large humanitarian organization in Deir al-Balah, reported that when Hamas fires rockets, a rare occurrence these days, only teenagers seem to cheer on the street.

"Adults then invariably tell them there is nothing to cheer about. Every rocket that is fired causes trouble," he said. "It will elicit an Israeli reaction and bombings for the following week."

"People have come to see Hamas as a problem. I have yet to come across any adult who openly supports Hamas or claims it can bring a solution," Mark added.

Khaled, a 30-year-old Paleostinian man living in a crowded encampment for displaced Gazooks in the south of the Strip, depicted general frustration with the terror group. His conversation with The Times of Israel was facilitated by the US-based Center for Peace Communications, which has sought to broadcast the sentiments of anti-Hamas Gazooks to the world. (In January 2023, The Times of Israel published a series of shorts produced by the center.)

"People hate Hamas more and more," said Khaled, who was an opponent of the group before October 7 and has been tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
by Hamas in the past. "What they need now is peace."

Khaled’s sentiments were echoed by Rashid, an anti-Hamas activist from Deir al-Balah who was previously tossed in the calaboose
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
by the group for his participation in the 2019 "We want to live" protest movement.

"Most people in Gaza are against Hamas; they want a future without it," he said. "One good thing about the war is that they can now curse it openly on the streets without fear of retaliation."

"There was some optimism after Sinwar’s killing, with people hopeful that a ceasefire was near and normality would return — even among some Hamas supporters," Rashid noted.

Despite the decapitation of the Hamas leadership, a ceasefire still seems elusive, extending the hardship of Gaza’s civilians. "Without an Israeli decision to end the conflict, no one can put an end to the insane situation in the Gaza Strip. Following the collapse of Hamas governance, Gaza’s future rests in Israel’s hands," Rashid said.

POWER VACUUM
While Hamas still attempts occasional attacks on IDF troops to create "victory images," as one senior IDF officer recently told The Times of Israel, conversations with Gaza civilians indicate that the group is focused solely on survival, lacking the means to control the Strip.

"They’ve lost the people entirely, along with their authority over minds and words," Rashid observed.

"Hamas has completely collapsed," Khaled concurred. "That doesn’t mean it isn’t trying to regroup. It will keep trying indefinitely."

According to Mark, Hamas’s remaining authority in the Strip consists of members of the Hamas-run Civil Defense agency in balaclavas managing traffic at some intersections with rifles.

The breakdown of its governance has forced the group underground, with the IDF reporting nearly 19,000 fighters killed. Local families and clans have since filled the power vacuum, some exerting control over entire areas through force.

Large family clans are a traditional feature of Gazook society. With the displacement of hundreds of thousands from the Strip’s north to the south, many of the clans also relocated, and tried to assert their authority over new areas or take control of certain trades, entering into pie fights with existing clans.

Gunfights between clans are not rare, Mark said, and sometimes result in casualties and deteriorate into bloody retaliatory feuds.

The chaotic situation has significantly hampered the work of aid organizations that need to deal with the clans, forcing them to negotiate with multiple chieftains, he added.

Rashid said that Hamas had allied with gangs connected to the clans, who act as its "mafia" within Gaza. These clans dominate the informal markets, where they enrich themselves by selling food and essential goods to civilians at inflated prices due to scarcity. Some clans also extort organizations and traders for payoffs in exchange for safe passage through areas they control.

Channel 12 reported in September that Hamas had raised $500 million by reselling stolen humanitarian aid, and that the money was partly used to recruit new button men.

Rashid confirmed that the terror group is attempting to recruit, but said that very few people were responding.

OVER AND OUT?
In September, then-defense minister Yoav Gallant said that Hamas was finished as a military organization, and was only engaged in guerrilla warfare.

Two months on, the situation appears largely the same.

"In central Gaza, where I live, we don’t even feel like we’re at war anymore. There’s a sense of clinical death," Rashid said. "Israel’s operations such as the ongoing one in Jabalia are merely an excuse to prolong the conflict. After all, Israel’s goal was to dismantle Hamas as a governing force, not eliminate every single Hamas member."

While predicting that Hamas would attempt to declare victory the moment the IDF leaves Gaza, Rashid believes that "the center and the south of the Strip are ready for the ’day after."

Khaled agreed that Israel had nobody left to fight, calling for the IDF to ease up on suffering Gazook civilians.

"There is no justification to prolong the war. Israel has defeated Hamas and can end the conflict now, conducting targeted operations if necessary. There is no need to maintain the pressure on the civilian population. On the contrary, Israel needs to show goodwill toward civilians by establishing safe zones," he said.

Khaled has advocated for "safe zones" within Gaza through discussions with unnamed Israeli "institutions." These zones would allow "peace-minded" civilians to administer themselves away from Hamas and clan control. "What is needed now is political will from Israel. Unfortunately, there has been no response from Israeli authorities," Khaled said.

On October 28, the Knesset passed two laws essentially barring the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees from operating in Israel, and severely curtailing its activities in Gaza and the West Bank, despite widespread international opposition.

UNRWA — short for the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Relief and Works Agency for Paleostine Refugees in the Near East — provides education, healthcare and food aid to millions of Paleostinians across Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and Syria.

Mark, the aid worker in central Gaza, warned that the shutdown of UNRWA will severely disrupt relief work.

"Many assume another UN organization can just replace UNRWA, but it’s not that simple," he said. "UNRWA was massive, running schools, clinics and food distribution. Without it, these responsibilities now theoretically fall to Israel, as the occupying power."

In contrast, Khaled, who grew up in a refugee camp and attended UNRWA schools, expressed little concern over losing the agency’s aid.

"Since the start of the war, UNRWA was supposed to distribute food, but all I have ever received was one bag of flour — and I have to feed a family of ten," he said.

"We don’t want to live off aid forever," he added. "We want to live like people in the Gulf, Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
or America. We want to develop a private economy, to work and be able to buy things. We don’t want to depend on UNRWA forever for a bag of flour or rice."

Hundreds rally in Tel Aviv to demand release of captives, highlight plight of child hostages
[IsraelTimes] Hundreds gather on Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square and a block away on Begin Road to demand the return of the hostages from Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
The Hostages Square rally is dedicated to the children in captivity, ahead of International Children’s Day on Wednesday. There are currently two child hostages: Ariel Bibas, 5, and Kfir Bibas, 1. Their aunt, Ofri Bibas, is among this evening’s speakers.

On Begin Road, in front of the IDF headquarters, protesters call for an end to the war with Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
as part of a hostage deal. They set off smoke stacks and beat on drums, chanting: "They [the hostages] are running out of time — a deal is on the table!"
The deal is that the IDF lays down its arms and withdraws, getting nothing including the hostages, and giving Hamas all it has ever dreamed of, including the ability to rebuild for the promised next 10/7. What is wrong with you people?!
The rally on Begin Road is unaffiliated with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum and is frequented by families of captives who are more openly critical of the government.
Antifa by another name, funded by the usual Progressive billionaires intent on remaking Israel to their own specifications.
Before the rally, these families made a statement, pleading with US President-elect Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th and 47th President of the United States...
to help bring their loved ones.

Toward the end of the statement, a man wearing a shirt reading "Lions of the Right" played music from a loudspeaker and got in a shoving match with Natalie Zangauker, sister of hostage Matan Zangauker, according to footage shared by a Haaretz news hound. It was unclear if the man was apprehended.
Rallies were also held across the country in Rehovot, Haifa, Ra’anana, Jerusalem and elsewhere, demanding a deal.

Also on Saturday evening, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, one of the most vocal opponents of a hostage deal in government, told Channel 12 that the war in Gaza would not end until Hamas is “wiped out” and “no longer in existence,” but denied that this would prevent the hostages from ever returning home.

Asked why the government would not agree to a deal that would end the war in return for the release of all the hostages, Smotrich told Channel 12 that doing so “would mean [Hamas] retains control in Gaza.”

Smotrich, the head of the far-right Religious Zionism party, denied that this would mean the hostages would never return home, and stressed that the two goals of the war — to destroy Hamas and to bring home the hostages — must be accomplished. Only by accomplishing these goals, he explained, would Israel be able to ensure that there can be no repeat of October 7 and prove to its enemies that it has won.

Canadian police raid director of banned pro-Palestinian group’s home, detain her for questioning
[IsraelTimes] Police have raided the Vancouver home of pro-Paleostinian activist Charlotte Kates, Canadian media outlets say, after she was released from custody.

The Vancouver Sun quotes police as saying Kates was arrested as part of an "ongoing hate crime investigation," after she led protesters at an April rally in a chant of "Long live October 7" and called the brutal Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
massacre "heroic and brave."

A local resident quoted by the National Post says a flash-bang grenade was used during the raid and that windows of the home were broken.

Kates is one of three directors for Samidoun, a pro-Paleostinian activist group that was banned from Germany in November for supporting terrorism, has been sanctioned by financial companies and, according to Israel, is linked to the terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine.

The US State Department describes the group as "a sham charity that serves as an international fundraiser for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP) terrorist organization."

Kates and her husband, Paleostinian writer Khaled Barakat, are also banned from entering the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...

We Can All Thank Don, Jr.
[AmericanThinker] This November 28th, when America counts its blessings, the top of my list will be Donald J. Trump, Jr. He is really the guy who made the success of 2024 possible.

If you think back to 2016, the whole Trump effort, it was not just unlikely, it was ridiculous. The campaign consisted mostly of Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s stream-of-consciousness Tweets and phone calls to various talk shows. Volunteers from around the country organized their own events for him because there was no real traditional campaign organization. Some went very well. Others, not so much, like the March 2016 rally at the University of Illinois, reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
. Smack in the middle of one of America’s premier left-wing neighborhoods, it turned into an ANTIFA-style riot.

When he got to the White House, President Trump was immediately handicapped by poor organization and some awful hires. Most Trump people came in one of three flavors -- loyal but incompetent, like Mike Flynn. The just plain incompetent, like Coats and Sessions. And worst of all, the incompetent and outright perfidious, like Generals Kelly, Mattis, and McMaster.

Most of that last category seems to be people Ivanka and Jared wanted.

Unsurprisingly, this team of scrubs was no match for the D.C. Swamp. Much of the anger and frustration of Trump and his supporters on Jan 6, 2021, was fueled by the realization of just how badly they were served by people who were supposed to be on their side.

If you are somebody like Rudy Giuliani, tirelessly working with President Trump to save the country, and you see him get impeached for properly trying to investigate the Biden bribery scandals or have the Deep State run a game to falsely impugn the Hunter Biden laptop, or worst of all, see the Deep State’s outrageous Russiagate scandal, which was cooked up by Crooked Hillary Clinton
...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do...
's people. Then yes, you may even start to think the voting machines in Georgia could be rigged.

After the disappointing 2022 midterms, most people (including me) gave Donald Trump no chance. DeSantis even passed by him in the betting odds.

Behind the scenes, however, it was Don who started to bring some order to the chaos of Trump world. Until then, he had been the second banana in the family behind Ivanka and Jared. But they were bored with the whole political scene after 2020 and moved on. Especially after Jared got Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
to bail him out of his high-rise real estate disaster.

Don (and his brother Eric) had spent most of the first Trump term in New York, ably running the Trump business, even as they had to meet a make-or-break deadline to refinance their holdings. Then, it was finally Don’s turn to help assist his father’s political operation and did he ever.

Don began by hiring Susie Wiles to run the national campaign. Wiles got her start with Jack Kemp, then worked for Ronald Reagan all eight years. She has a marvelous record of running campaigns. When she became available after a falling out with Ron DeSantis, she was welcomed into the 2020 campaign and then tapped to run the whole 2024 effort. This was a great move. She has a whole ecosystem of competent people around her, and she got Trump organized and focused on the issues.

The unprecedented lawfare attack by the Biden administration in 2023 was met calmly and became a rallying point for people who had seen enough of the Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
’ dirty tricks.

Don was also the talent scout, bringing in fresh new faces who could make a difference. He was the one who got Ronna McDaniel ousted from the RNC and brought in Charlie Kirk to implement more modern election tactics. Whereas in 2020, President Trump decried early voting; in 2024, Don was convinced those were now the rules and we had to outdo the Democrats.

It was Don who befriended JD Vance, seeing he was a budding star and had his father endorse him in a crowded Senate primary. Don also lobbied for him as VP pick, which proved an inspired choice, as he connected with younger voters.

Remember, it was Jared and Ivanka who kept attaching President Trump to ridiculous celebrities like Kanye West and the Kardashians. While it was Don who built a network of serious people to help the country, like Peter Theil.

The first days of the Trump transition are now going like the last days of the Trump campaign -- focused, efficient, and smooth. I suspect that’s in large measure due again to Don and he is likely the one recommending all the solid cabinet picks.

Thanks to Donald J. Trump, Jr., I think Trump 47 is going to be a far more successful experience than Trump 45.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
As calls to deradicalize Palestinian textbooks get louder, some urge a broader focus
[IsraelTimes] Since October 7, international pressure has mounted on the PA to remove indoctrination from its curriculum, but expert says true societal shift must go beyond classrooms

During a recent visit to Ramallah, Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel confronted UN officials over the glorification of terrorism contained in school curricula administered by the agency for Paleostinian refugees.

In a video, Bettel is seen holding a textbook and challenging an official: "UNRWA is not neutral on education if they teach this. It’s in the book... If I want to defend you, help me to defend you."

Bettel’s remarks underscored longstanding concerns about the Paleostinian education system, which has been criticized for years for promoting indoctrination, antisemitism, and violence. These criticisms have resurfaced in the wake of the October 7 massacre, along with renewed concerns over the neutrality of the UN Relief and Works Agency, which provides education for nearly 550,000 Paleostinians registered as refugees, including some 300,000 children in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Analysts and foreign officials assert that the curriculum plays a role in radicalizing Paleostinian youth, with some pointing to the October 7 massacre as a particularly severe example of the effects of such an education.

"When we saw what happened on October 7 and those appalling acts of rape and murder and beheading and abducting of babies and the elderly, we were not surprised," said Marcus Sheff, CEO of the London and Tel-Aviv-based Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education, better known as IMPACT-se. "These horrific acts of murder and desecration of bodies require some serious indoctrination."

According to Sheff, the solution, like the problem, must also come via the classroom. Experiences from the Arab world suggest that changes in educational content can make a meaningful impact, he argued, pointing to the reliance on top-down textbook-based teaching found throughout the Mideast.

"Textbooks are uniquely authoritative in this region — critical thinking is not encouraged," Sheff said. "A whole subject is connected to a textbook. The children learn what is in their books, what is on their desks, and that is what teachers teach."

IMPACT-se has monitored school curricula globally since the late 1990s, with a particular focus on anti-Israel content in the Arab world.

The organization’s annual reports have consistently highlighted problematic content within Paleostinian school materials. This includes the systematic erasure of Israel, denial of Jewish ties to the land, and glorification of violent mostly peaceful jihad and martyrdom, or as Sheff put it, "this overriding idea that it is every young person’s job to sacrifice themselves."

Paleostinian schools in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, including ones run by UNRWA, use textbooks and curricula drafted by the Paleostinian Authority.

But despite condemnations by the European Parliament every year for the past five years, and by lawmaking assemblies and governments across the world, the PA has resisted amending its textbooks to address these issues.

In East Jerusalem, where most non-Israeli schools follow the Paleostinian curriculum, the Jerusalem Municipality has for years attempted to censor inflammatory content by covering certain sections of textbooks with blank stickers. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
Sheff noted, the stickers only piqued students’ curiosity. Students reportedly kept two sets of textbooks: a "censored" one for inspections and an "uncensored" one used in class.

The municipality subsequently opted to print its own version of the books with the offending content omitted, requiring they be used in Paleostinian schools in the city in lieu of those provided by the PA.

According to Haaretz, at the start of the current school year police occasionally searched the bags of Paleostinian students, and in some instances confiscated books that were deemed to contain inflammatory material.

The police did not immediately respond to a request for comment by The Times of Israel.

The European Parliament has conditioned future funding to the Paleostinian Authority on the removal of antisemitic material in its curriculum. But Sheff expressed concerns the PA could get aid flowing again with only a few cosmetic changes.

"We’re talking about probably close to a thousand changes in this curriculum which really need to be made," he said.

IS CHANGING TEXTBOOKS ENOUGH TO CHANGE A SOCIETY?
Some experts are skeptical that revising textbooks alone can counter deeply ingrained radicalization. Michael Milshtein, head of the Paleostinian Studies Forum at the Moshe Dayan Center at Tel Aviv University, argues that genuine change will require a more comprehensive societal shift.

"In order to promote dramatic change, you need soul searching. You need that the other side, the Paleostinians, will also have the basic desire to change things. I don’t see any of that," Milshtein told The Times of Israel.

Despite over 80 percent of Gaza schools being destroyed or converted into refugee shelters according to UN data, informal schooling is reportedly continuing, largely taking place in tents. There, teachers previously employed by Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
or UNRWA may continue teaching the same messages as before with little oversight, including "the legacy of Hamas and the importance of jihad and martyrdom," Milshtein explained.

"It’s not like Germany after 1945, where the whole society promoted soul-searching," Milshtein said.

"In Gaza at the moment, there is no statehood or organized regime. And society will reject any attempt at deradicalization. Bringing new teachers and changing the textbooks is very important, but it’s not enough," he said.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
some Arab countries with reform-minded regimes have begun adjusting their curricula to reduce radicalism. The UAE stands out for including Holocaust education in its curriculum since last year, while other Western-aligned Arab countries such as Morocco, Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
and Egypt have made strides to remove antisemitic content and de-emphasize hateful and violent mostly peaceful passages of the Koran and the hadiths from Islamic studies, according to IMPACT-se.

On the other hand, other countries in the region that foster Islamist groups, such as Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, still lag behind, as highlighted by a recent report by the US State Department based on an IMPACT-se study.

"Countries change their curricula because they understand it’s for the good of their society, because they understand that radicalizing generation after generation is not necessarily good for them," Sheff said.

"All countries can be helped, one can be in dialogue with them. But ultimately, they make their own choices. It’s about their educational systems and their societies in the future."

RUMINT: Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei In Coma After 'Serious Illness'? Dead?? Fact-Checking Claim UPDATE: Iran says alive, publishes photo
48 Hour Rule. The clock started ticking at midnight Eastern Time ;-)
Social media posts on Saturday claimed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 85, is in a coma, following an earlier New York Times report stating he's "seriously ill."
Some tweets say he is dead
However, no official confirmation has been provided regarding his health deterioration. Ali Khamenei was last seen in public on November 7.

Can't catch a break, the Iranians.

Other reports say not so fast:

Pro-Israel social media users falsely claim Iran’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei is dead

[TurkiyeToday] Reports are circulating on social media, primarily from pro-Israel accounts, alleging the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

However, these claims remain unconfirmed by Iranian authorities or credible sources. The photos shared on social media allegedly showing Ali Khamenei lying on a hospital bed are from 2014.

Some users have referenced a previous New York Times report that suggested Khamenei is suffering from a terminal illness.

However, New York Times published a correction after its first report noting that there has been no credible reports on Khamenei’s health in the last two years.

Supreme Leader meets Iranian ambassador injured in Lebanon pager explosions
Nov 17, 2024, 9:53 PM
[IRNA] Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has met with Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani.

The meeting took place in Tehran on Sunday.

Amani, who was injured in pager explosions in Lebanon in September, briefed the Supreme Leader on his health conditions.

The Israeli regime carried out the explosions on September 17 when pagers used by Hezbollah members went off in different regions of Lebanon, leaving dozens of people dead including civilians.

One of the blasts happened near the Iranian ambassador, causing injuries to him, including to his left eye.

Amani was soon transferred to Tehran to receive medical treatment.

He is still in Tehran and will soon return to Lebanon to resume his diplomatic mission.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
For Gaza’s ‘day after,’ look to private security companies
[IsraelTimes] A US-backed private Trust may be the least bad option for protecting operations essential to post-war relief and recovery

Could private security companies — known as PSCs — play a role in defeating Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
and kick-starting the transition to a better "day after" in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
? Despite PSCs having a checkered history, reports suggest that several key stakeholders, including Israel and the United Arab Emirates, are considering using them to help protect operations essential to Gaza’s relief and recovery — and to breaking Hamas’s grip on power. While perhaps no one’s first choice for securing a new administration in Gaza, PSCs may end up being the most realistic option for finally getting the "day after" started.

That was the conclusion of a bipartisan task force that I chaired earlier this year, supported by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America and The Vandenberg Coalition. Before reaching it, the task force closely examined the most frequently discussed options for securing a post-Hamas transition and found them all wanting.

Israel’s Defense Forces, the IDF, have their hands full crushing Hamas militarily — not to mention dealing with threats from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and Iran. The IDF doesn’t have the resources, manpower, or legitimacy to also secure key civilian missions like delivering aid, clearing rubble, restoring essential services, and recruiting new Paleostinian leaders.

US forces, though capable, are also a non-starter. There’s no political appetite in Washington for committing US troops to nation-building in Gaza.

For many reasons, a UN force also seems out of the question. Most importantly, given the abject failure of UN peacekeepers since 2006 to keep Hezbollah at bay in Lebanon, it’s hard to imagine Israelis relying on them to help secure Gaza.

As for the Paleostinian Authority (PA), Israel’s right-wing government has rejected allowing it to play any role in Gaza. But even if Israel was willing, the reality is that the PA can’t secure its West Bank stronghold. It’s fanciful to believe that 17 years after being thrown out of Gaza by Hamas, PA police could now return with greater success.

By far, the most popular proposal for securing the "day after" involves deploying troops from Arab states. But there’s no indication they would sign on while the IDF is still active inside Gaza fighting Hamas remnants. Even harder to fathom: Arab troops killing Paleostinians, fellow Moslems, who violent mostly peacefully resist efforts to undermine Hamas’s control.

After dismissing the most frequently proposed security models, our task force offered the practical, but controversial option of hiring PSCs to help protect any new civilian administration in Gaza — whether it be led by the PA, some inter-Arab stabilization authority, or (as our task force recommended) a private multinational Trust backed by Washington and its regional partners.

Many PSCs have long records supporting the operations of the US military during the war on terror. Their ranks are filled with well-trained professionals who served at elite levels in their nation’s military. They have ample experience conducting the kinds of missions that would be critical in Gaza’s war-torn landscape, including protecting humanitarian convoys, guarding critical infrastructure, and securing VIPS. PSCs are also well acquainted with the imperative of coordinating their activities with a national army in control of the overall battlespace — in Gaza’s case, the IDF.

Without question, high-profile cases of abuse have tarnished PSCs in many eyes. Most notoriously, in Iraq in 2007, employees of the US company Blackwater protecting a convoy killed 17 civilians in the Nisour Square Massacre.

Less well-known is that after Nisour Square, the US military imposed a comprehensive oversight regime for PSCs, including strict rules of engagement, monitoring, and accountability. The US commanders responsible told our task force that it worked extremely well. They believed that with a similar regime in Gaza, PSCs could also make important contributions there.

Of course, concerns about abuse aren’t unique to PSCs. Absent good leadership and real accountability, even the best militaries in the world, including the US military, are susceptible to misbehavior. As for UN peacekeepers, their missions over the years have been repeatedly plagued by corruption, mismanagement, and sex crimes.

In fact, there’s a strong argument that when things do go wrong, as they inevitably will in a place like Gaza where the enemy observes no laws of armed conflict, PSC wrongdoing will be easier to manage than that of a national military. The latter invariably implicates diplomatic sensitivities surrounding national honor and saving face. If a PSC misbehaves, in contrast, its personnel can be quickly disciplined and expelled from the battlespace with far less political blowback.

The transition to a better "day after" in Gaza will never get off the ground unless it can be secured. As Winston Churchill famously underscored about democracies versus other systems of government, PSCs may be the worst option for establishing a post-Hamas administration except for all the other options proposed.

Trump said planning to revive ‘maximum pressure’ strategy to ‘bankrupt’ Iran as soon as he takes office
[IsraelTimes] US President-elect Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
is reportedly planning on reviving his "maximum pressure strategy to bankrupt Iran" as soon as he takes office, according to a report citing a national security expert familiar with the Trump transition.

The Financial Times says that Trump’s transition team is preparing executive orders targeting Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
that could be issued on his first day in office, including sanctions on Iranian oil exports.

In his first term, Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear accord between Iran and Western powers and later re-imposed sanctions on Tehran. He also ordered the killing of Iranian commander, Qasem Soleimani, who led the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps’ foreign operations arm, the Quds Force.

Trump said throughout his 2024 presidential election campaign that US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
’s policy of not rigorously enforcing oil-export sanctions has weakened Washington and emboldened Tehran.

According to the Financial Times report, the maximum pressure campaign is designed to stop Iran from being able to build up its military and continue to fund its network of proxy groups in the region, including Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...

But the ultimate goal, the report stresses, will be to push Iran to negotiate a new nuclear deal.

So the $34+ Trillion in debt USA is going to try and bankrupt another country?

Why not start taking out the real problem and the driving force...
The Islamic Radical Leadership? It costs less $$$$, less lives and is quicker.

Just funnel in a few $$ Million to fund the various internal opposition groups.
Like the groups that rose up during the Bush, Clinton, Obama, and Biden.

But this time, this WH Admin won't turn it's back on them for various agenda reasons.

The problem there is that since WWII and beyond, we have never ever picked the right group to back. It's been an unending string of disasters, and I wouldn't trust even a Trump Administration State Department to pick the right one.

The smartest thing would do would be The Night Of The Teheran Vespers - whack the entire upper tier of the Iranian theocracy and the Revolutionary Guard.

Then announce we'll work with (not necessarily support) whoever can keep the oil flowing. They'll be on their asses for decades.

Science & Technology
Scientists discover what caused the Roman Empire to collapse 1,500 years ago
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Scientists have uncovered an unlikely event that led to the eastern Roman Empire's collapse 1,500 years ago.

They discovered that the Romans miscalculated their Persian opponents which caused their downward spiral, leaving them weak and allowing Islam to rise in a manner that essentially wiped out the once-powerful civilization.

The two groups were at war from 54 BC to 628 for control of territories, but the Persians and Sassanians took over Roman trade routes that were critical to their victory.

Without access to trade, the economy quickly collapsed and forced people in the Roman Empire to flee to other regions like Constantinople, the researchers said.

The team analyzed shipwrecks throughout the Mediterranean from multiple sites, such as Marseille, Naples, Carthage, eastern Spain and Alexandria, to better understand what caused the fall.

They identified a timeline for when Roman ships, which lined the shores by the hundreds at their peak, began to disappear and dwindled down to just dozens by the second half of the 7th century.

Roman goods were also analyzed from tens of thousands of sites between numerous regions: Israel, Tunisia, Jordan, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, and Greece.

Researchers said that rather than a decline, there was an increase in prosperity and demography in the second half of the 6th century CE.

The information 'led us to conclude that the eastern Roman Empire started to decline... after a [disruption in trade] and military failures,' authors Lev Cosijns from the University of Oxford and Haggai Olshanetsky told DailyMail.com.

Previous research had suggested that a plague decimated the Roman Empire in 543 AD or a climate shift that peaked in the mid-6th century.

But the new study found the civilization was at the height of its power, economic output and population.

'So, it seems that 536 CE was not the worst year to be alive,' said Cosijns. 'At least, not for most people who lived during that time.

'It was a terrible period for people living in Scandinavia, but for people who lived in the eastern Roman Empire, there were limited effects, and so life went on as usual.'

The researchers began their investigation by dating pottery uncovered at archaeology sites.

They discovered more than 16,000 pieces of pottery uncovered in Nessana - a city located in the southwest Negev desert in Israel, close to the Egyptian border.

The pottery was traded by the Roman Empire during the late 6th and early 7th centuries, confirming the civilization was still thriving.

The team found a 'stark increase' in the total number of pottery shards dating to after 550 AD, which they believed indicated 'increase in the industrial capacity and prosperity of the region.'

This is especially noticeable in Nessana, which was dated to 550 to 700 AD, where a total of 16,148 sherds were found, a larger number than all the other areas and contexts from all the sites combined,' they shared in the study.

The team then pulled from the shipwreck database of Harvard University and and the Oxford Roman Economy Project (OXREP) database to identify a timeline for when Romans ships flourished in the Mediterranean.

These databases aggregated data on shipwrecks from antiquity, including their dates, site/shipwreck name, GPS location, and cargo.

'The use of this type of data implements a method that has recently been applied in different studies,' researcher wrote in the study published in the academic journal Klio.

'This method assumes that the number of shipwrecks has statistical significance, and greater amounts of maritime traffic are reflected in higher numbers of shipwrecks in certain periods.'

The researchers said during the 2nd century AD, the number of Roman shipwrecks stayed consistent with between 200 and 300 occurring every 50 years.

'Then, at the very end of the 5th century, there is a sharp decline of almost fifty percent in shipwreck numbers,' the team shared.

'The reason for such a severe reduction was most probably due to the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the late 5th century.

'The fall of the west also symbolized the decline of the city of Rome and other western trade cities and their hinterlands, and their subsequent reduction in population.'

The data also showed the number of vessels dropped to just 67 by the second half of the 7th century, signifying that their trade routes were cut off.

'This decline was most probably an outcome of the Persian war, and the Islamic conquest shortly after, which deprived Constantinople of most of the territories that were previously under the rule of the Eastern Roman Empire,' said the researchers.

The Roman and Persian Empires fought to control territories to expand their influence throughout Armenia, Mesopotamia and northern Syria.

These territories were strategically important because they offered more border protection and access to vital trade routes.

The Roman Empire won the war under the leadership of Emperor Heraclius who launched a counterattack deep into Persian territory, catching the army off guard and forcing them into a decisive battle near the ruins of Nineveh.

But the disrupted trade route slowly weakened the Roman Empire, leading to their demise.

The researchers said their findings go against other people who minimize the current climate crisis today by linking the mini ice age that occurred in the 6th century to the fall of the Roman Empire, claiming that it has always occurred and therefore is nothing to be concerned about.

'We think that looking for climate change and plague as the cause for every significant change in history is problematic,' Olshanetsky and Cosijns said.

'This approach can especially harm the current climate change debate when claiming that past climate change caused catastrophic disruptions in society, in cases when there were none or limited effects,' they continued.

'Such claims may inadvertently support arguments that state since climate change has always occurred, the current man-made one is not a serious issue.'

Iranian FM denies reported meeting between UN ambassador and Elon Musk
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi strongly has denied a reported meeting between Tehran’s United Nations envoy and billionaire Elon Musk, state TV reports.

“This was a fabricated story by American media, and the motives behind this can also be speculated,” Araqchi says.

What His Excellency is talking about:
Iran sought covert Musk meeting to calm tensions with Trump — US official

[IsraelTimes] Iran successfully sought a meeting with Elon Musk, a US official says, in one of a series of steps apparently aimed at easing tensions with President-elect Donald Trump.

Briefed on the meeting by a foreign colleague, the US official says Iran’s UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani met with Musk — a Trump ally named this week to advise his administration on ways to cut the federal government — on Monday in New York.

The official adds that the discussion covered a variety of topics, most notably Iran’s nuclear program, its support for anti-Israel groups throughout the Middle East and prospects for improved relations with the United States.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a non-US governmental meeting, says no immediate decisions were taken by either side. The official adds that the Iranians sought the meeting with Musk and that it did not take place at the Iranian mission to the UN.

The Trump transition team neither confirms nor denies the meeting, which was first reported by The New York Times, and Iran’s UN mission declines to comment.

Intelligence officials have said Iran opposed Trump’s second term, seeing him as more likely to increase tension between Washington and Tehran.

Europe
Ukrainian troops train for trench warfare near France's WWI battlefields
[FoxNews] Ukraine needs '15 new highly trained, battle-ready brigades,' according to French officials

The scene could be 1,860 miles away in Ukraine's Donbas region, but instead some 2,000 Ukrainian conscripts and veterans are training in the muddy fields of France's eastern Marne region, where French and German armies once hammered each other during World War I.

The initiative is part of a European Union-funded program that has already prepared 60,000 Ukrainians for the front lines since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

For this training, the French military has tried to recreate the conditions faced by the Ukrainian forces back home, while training them on the equipment that France is providing.

This includes 128 armored vehicles for troop movements and reconnaissance, Caesar howitzers, anti-tank missile units, surface-to-air missiles and battlefield radars.

The Anne of Kyiv brigade - named after a princess who married French King Henri I in 1051 in nearby Reims cathedral - has been training in France since September, and in the next 10 days will head to Poland before being dispatched to the front.

French officials say Ukraine needs as many as 15 new highly trained, battle-ready brigades, especially amid uncertainty over future Western military aid following the victory of Donald Trump - a strong critic of such aid - in the U.S. elections.

Most of the Ukrainians being trained here only joined the army a month before coming to France, while about 10% are veterans. Their average age is 38, but some are as old as 50.

French officials said the current trainees, despite many being civilians, were learning quickly and were showing how Ukraine's army can adapt despite shortages on the ground.

After nine weeks of training, the Ukrainians were now able, for example, to repel an attack on their trenches and to mount a counter-attack.
These are good things for soldiers to know….

Iraq
Iraqi strike kills four suspected ISIS members in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] An Iraqi Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
killed at least four suspected members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in Kirkuk province on Saturday, the army said.

"In coordination with and through intensive follow-up by the Targeting Cell of the Joint Operations Command, an operation spanning two consecutive days tracked a terrorist unit consisting of four members in the Zaghaitoun Valley within the Kirkuk Operations Command sector," read a statement from the military’s Joint Operations Command.

"Based on this precise information, at 18:50 today, Saturday, the brave Air Hawks launched an F-16 airstrike on the hideout where the terrorist unit was located. With a precise and successful strike, the hideout was reduced to rubble over the heads of the terrorists," it added.

The operation in territories disputed between federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government is the latest in an ongoing effort to rid the country of ISIS cells in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate.

Last week, in a similar operation, the Iraqi army announced it killed four suspected ISIS members in an airstrike in Kirkuk.

Over 100 ISIS members have been killed since the beginning of the year, the army said last month.

Soldier killed in Lebanon as IDF pounds Hezbollah; rocket hits Haifa synagogue among total of 80 shot off by Hezbollah
[IsraelTimes] 5 hurt running for shelter in city; in Lebanon, IDF chief vows to ‘hit Hezbollah very, very hard’; Israeli troops said to reach deepest point in Lebanon since ground op began

The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, the military announced on Saturday, as Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi vowed to continue battling Hezbollah until displaced residents from the north can return home, and troops reportedly reached their deepest point so far in Lebanon.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, a triangular dorsal fin appeared in the water. Then another...
Hezbollah continued to launch drones and rocket barrages at northern Israel, including heavy fire toward Haifa, where there were several impacts.

Sgt. Ori Nisanovich, 21, of the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, from Jerusalem, was killed fighting on Friday, the IDF said. According to an initial IDF probe, Nisanovich was killed during an exchange of fire with a Hezbollah gunman in a building in a southern Lebanon village. The operative was killed in the shootout. Nisanovich’s death brings the IDF’s toll in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and during operations on the border to 44.

Saturday saw multiple barrages of dozens of rockets fired at the Western Galilee and Haifa Bay areas.

On Saturday evening, a barrage of 10 rockets was fired at Haifa, with several intercepted but others impacted areas of the city, including one that caused heavy damage to a synagogue building. Five people were hurt while running for shelter throughout the city, said first responders.

Earlier in the day sirens wailed several times in the northern city of Nahariya, due to hostile drone infiltrations. The IDF said four drones were intercepted throughout the day, with shrapnel from one hitting an apartment in the city. Slight damage was caused, but there were no injuries.

Near the city of Tamra, a rocket struck a farm building, causing heavy damage and killing several animals inside, police said. No people were maimed in the attack.

Following a fresh assessment amid the ground operation in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on Saturday evening that it had imposed a new closed military zone on the Lebanon border, in the areas of Metula and Kfar Yuval. The order prohibits civilians from areas where the Israeli military is operating, including in Israel across the border from Lebanese villages where fighting may be taking place. It will remain in effect until Sunday night.

Lebanese state media reported that IDF troops reached the deepest point in Lebanon since the army started its incursion over the border six weeks ago, before ostensibly pulling back early Saturday after fierce battles with Hezbollah.

The state-run National News Agency reported that Israeli troops temporarily captured a strategic hill in the southern Lebanese village of Shama, about five kilometers (3 miles) from the border early Saturday, before later being pushed back. The outlet claimed soldiers detonated several buildings including a shrine before they withdrew.

None of the claims could be immediately verified.

The military said in a statement that its troops "continue their limited, localized, and targeted operational activity in southern Lebanon." The military did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the Lebanese media reports.

The push on the ground came as Israeli warplanes pounded Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as several other areas in southern Lebanon, including the port city of Tyre. The IDF said on Saturday evening that it had carried out four waves of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s throughout the day on Hezbollah targets in the terror group’s southern Beirut stronghold, including command centers.

In the past week, the IDF says it struck some 50 Hezbollah sites in Dahiyeh, Beirut’s southern suburbs. Before the strikes were carried out it issued evacuation warnings to civilians in the area.

The military also confirmed that it had carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in Tyre on Saturday.

According to the military, the sites hit by fighter jets included command centers, weapon depots, buildings used by Hezbollah, and numerous other assets belonging to the terror group. Many of the sites belonged to Hezbollah’s Aziz regional division, responsible for rocket fire on Israel from the western sector of southern Lebanon.

The military announced several waves of strikes on Saturday targeting Hezbollah assets, and at least nine individual airstrikes were reported by Rooters. After one of the strikes, a plume of smoke could be seen rising over the buildings in the area, in unverified footage posted to social media.

Lebanon’s NNA said "the enemy" carried out three air raids, including one near Haret Hreik.

"The first strike near Haret Hreik destroyed buildings and caused damage in the area," it said.

It later reported a separate raid by "enemy aircraft" in the neighborhood of Chiyah.

In southern Lebanon, Israel carried out several strikes on Friday night and early Saturday, according to NNA. The outlet said a strike in Tyre "targeted the ’ruins district,’ resulting in the destruction of two buildings and damage to other surrounding buildings."

Airstrikes killed a medic in the town of Borj Rahal in the Tyre District, and strikes on an emergency response team in the southern town of Kfar Tebnit killed one medic and injured four others while two medics were missing, the Lebanese health ministry said.

On Friday, the UN observer force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, said a 155mm live artillery shell hit its headquarters in Shama.

"The shell did not detonate and Italian bomb disposal experts swiftly secured the area, removed the ordnance and conducted a controlled detonation," UNIFIL said, adding that no one was injured and only minor damages were incurred to the base’s gym.

UNIFIL personnel were in shelters during the strike.

"We strongly remind all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and properties. Deliberate attacks on peacekeepers are a grave violation of international humanitarian laws and of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701," UNIFIL added.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani spoke with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa’ar and protested the attacks against its personnel and UNIFIL infrastructure, an Italian statement said, while adding that Israel will investigate the incident.

CEASEFIRE PROPOSAL
Amid optimism for a ceasefire deal to end the conflict in Lebanon, the Saudi-owned Asharq al-Awsat reported Saturday that a written proposal from the US received by Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri

...perennial Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
does not include freedom of movement for IDF troops in Lebanon.
No freedom of movement for the IDF? It seems the US State Department does not want a ceasefire accepted by both parties before President Trump is sworn into office. Now we know whom to blame for more dead Hezbullies, Syrians, and Iranians — and the human shields forced to surround them.
Lebanon will reply to the US offer “very soon” with its reservations, according to the report from the London-based paper.

Berri, a Hezbollah ally who often serves as a conduit for diplomacy, was quoted as stressing, “There can be no undermining of our sovereignty.”

He reportedly met with US Ambassador Lisa Johnson last week to receive Washington’s first written proposal in at least several weeks.

The Axios news site reported Friday that Israel is demanding a side letter from the US that includes guarantees from Washington that Israel will be allowed to take military action in Lebanon against Hezbollah if the terror group tries to re-establish its military presence along the border.

According to Asharq, Berri also voiced opposition to the idea of forming a committee to implement UN Resolution 1701, which ended the last round of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, claiming that UNIFIL can do the job.
Except that UNIFIL has demonstrated that, for whatever reason, they won’t do the job, which answers the question of whether they should be trusted to do the job.
The UN agency failed to enforce the resolution since 2006, allowing Hezbollah to build up a heavy armed presence along the border.

Israel has portrayed its offensive in southern Lebanon as essentially stepping in and doing UNIFIL’s job for it.

IDF tally shows Hezbollah fired some 80 rockets into Israel on Saturday

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah fired some 80 rockets from Lebanon that crossed into Israel today, according to an IDF tally. In the past week, the IDF has seen a decrease in the number of rockets fired by Hezbollah.

Fifth Column
Left-Wing Donors Wary As They Fear Funding Won't Buy the 'Resistance' It Used to in a New Era of Trump
[RedState] Besides having people on his own staff working against him in his first term, Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
also contended with those who deemed themselves the "resistance." Various left-wing groups and organizations intent on thwarting his agenda. But this is not 2016, and Trump has had a hardcore education in how the Swamp works. In 2024, those groups are still around, but they may have a much rougher time mounting the new "resistance" they would like. The reason is that potential donors do not think they will get the resistance bang for the buck they once did and are, therefore, not ponying up.

The usual suspects from 2016, like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), and the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), are getting less than enthusiastic responses from liberal donors after Trump and the Republican's crushing landslide in the November 5 election. Trump has yet to be sworn in, but already, many of these groups are ready to file lawsuits on day one of the new Trump administration. Because the donations are drying up, the heads of these groups are starting to sweat.

Vincent Warren is the Executive Director of the CCR. He said of their donation rate, "The response from donors has been shock, anger and depression, sprinkled in with a few checks. It’s not been a flood." CCR was instrumental in a lawsuit during the first Trump administration over the immigration ban from some Moslem-majority countries and could also be a participant in fighting any new Trump-era immigration policy.

Another group that plans on opposing the Trump agenda is the Center for Biological Diversity. Executive Director Kieran Suckling wants to hire 12 new attorneys to be ready to start the avalanche of lawsuits on January 21, Trump's first full day in office. Right now, however, he does not have the money to hire those attorneys, saying, "We can’t wait for the money to come in. We have to be prepared immediately." The organization filed roughly 266 lawsuits during Trump's first term, primarily to block the building of the border wall for environmental reasons. NILC Executive Director Kica Matos has also seen a drop in donations. She said, "Thus far, we have not seen the same levels of giving we experienced as compared to this time in 2016." She added that they did see an increase in donations after Trump took office in 2017.

So, what do all these groups need donations for exactly? Well, for starters, the ACLU plans to challenge mass deportation plans by the Trump administration on constitutional grounds. They plan to work with members of Congress to block funding and urge restrictions on where Customs and Border Protection officials can operate. The NILC is amassing volunteers to go across the nation to document immigration raids and intervene if they believe any illegalities are occurring.

All of these groups have had help from grants from George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
' Open Society Foundation, but they also need the grassroots left-wing activists to keep things humming. Another problem facing Red Guards liberal groups that plan on fighting the Trump administration is the fact that the Kamala Harris
once a marijuana-busting Caliphornia DA
campaign continues to ask for donations as well. My colleague Sister Toldjah reported that after racking up a $1 billion price tag on a four-month-long campaign in which Kamala Harris lost badly, the campaign now finds itself a whopping $20 million in debt. This was the woman who was going to "fix" the economy.

Help could be on the way for all of these leftists. A group called the Democracy Alliance, a group of liberal donors, will meet next week in Washington to strategize the next anti-Trump resistance movement. Not only is the left still in the grips of post-election depression, but they also have to deal with the fact that the Biden-Harris economy has even affected the high cost of "resistance."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli Justice Minister calls for resuming judicial overhaul as response to launching of flares at PM’s house
[IsraelTimes] The firing of flares at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea constitutes only the latest "link in a chain of violent mostly peaceful and anarchistic actions, the purpose of which is to bring about the liquidation of the prime minister and the overthrow of the elected government by means of a violent mostly peaceful coup," claims Justice Minister Yariv Levin.

The Likud deputy premier charges such behavior has gone on for two years "under the auspices of the law enforcement authorities’ selective enforcement," which he accuses the High Court of Justice of having sanctioned.

"Since the establishment of the government, I have been fighting to fundamentally change things," including the composition of the Supreme Court, Levin continues, referring to the government’s since-halted judicial overhaul program, which he says must be revived.

"The time has come for all the members of the coalition, all the factions and all the members of the Knesset, to announce, as one man, their unequivocal support for the moves I led and were stopped, and for any other move necessary to change the situation," he says.

"The time has come to lend full support to rehabilitating the justice and law enforcement systems, and to put an end to anarchy, chaos, insubordination and attempts to harm the prime minister."

Shin Bet, police say 2 flares landed in yard of PM’s Caesarea home: ‘A dangerous escalation’
Remembering that flares are functionally small rockets, and can be used as offensive weapons, a fact that the Antifa types organizing the weekly protests against Bibi Netanyahu know very well — they’ve been trying to drive him out of Israel’s government for most of the past quarter century, more or less unsuccessfully.
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet and police say that a pair of flares fired at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea landed in the house’s yard.

No damage was caused and a joint statement from the security bodies stresses Netanyahu and his family weren’t home at the time.

Police and the Shin Bet also say they’ve opened an investigation and denounce “the grave incident, which marks a dangerous escalation.”
It’s long past time y’all arrested, tried, and imprisoned these people, who’ve been doing their best to violently overthrow the democratically elected government of which Bibi is the democratically elected head. Just because the Israeli deep state loathes him is no excuse to tolerate such behaviour.

Good. Now jail ‘em for it instead of the indulgence they expect.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the firing of flares at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea on Saturday night, the Israel Police say.

The investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Shin Bet and the Lahav 433 major crimes unit, the statement adds.
More:
The three people arrested after a pair of flares were fired in the vicinity of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea are anti-government protesters, Hebrew-language media reports.

According to reports, one of those detained serves as a senior officer in the military reserves.
I vote for a drumhead court martial, so it’s probably just as well I’m not in charge.
Lawyer Gonen Ben Itzhak says the three have been prevented from meeting with an attorney.

Video posted to social media by a reporter from the Kan public broadcaster apparently showed that the flares were fired into the air above the premier’s home, rather than toward it. One of the flares appeared to misfunction, and fell to the ground while still lit.
A senior military officer ought to know that weapons don’t always perform as intended, and ought to be clever enough to take precautions, whether engaged in treason or mere insubordination.

IDF strikes gunmen, command centers in northern Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Army says 10 gunmen killed in strike in Jabalia; medics say strike targeting Hamas kills at least 10 at school in Gaza City; IDF intercepts two rockets fired from Strip at Sderot

The Israeli military struck multiple targets throughout northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
on Saturday as it continued its offensive against terror groups in the area.

On Saturday evening the IDF said that a cell of around 10 button men were killed in a dronezap in Jabalia earlier in the day. The IDF said the terror operatives had been spotted by troops of the 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit, who called in the strike, adding that no soldiers were hurt in the incident.

Separately, Israeli fighter jets struck a group of Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
operatives at a former school in Gaza City’s Shati camp, the military announced.

According to health officials and media reports in Gaza, the strike on the Abu Assi School, which was serving as a shelter for displaced Paleostinians, killed at least 10 people and maimed around 20 others. The IDF said that the Hamas operatives had set up a command center within the former UN-run school, and were using it to plan "imminent" attacks against troops operating in Gaza. To mitigate civilian harm, the IDF said it used a precision munition, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

"The Hamas terror organization systematically violates international law, brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the population as human shields for terror activity," the IDF said, adding that it will continue to operate against terror operatives who use civilian sites.

Earlier on Saturday, in a relatively rare occurrence 13 months into the war against Hamas in Gaza, rocket sirens sounded in the southern town of Sderot and several other communities near the Gaza Strip. The military later said that two rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza and both were intercepted.

According to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry, at least 30 people were killed by Israeli strikes across the enclave on Saturday, bringing the total people killed in Gaza during the war to 43,799, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.

Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 bully boyz inside Israel on October 7.

Israel has consistently said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

As a result of the attack, serious damage was recorded to key airfield infrastructure facilities, equipment, and storage facilities.

There are losses among the Ukrainian Armed Forces aviation: the MiG-29 fighter, which was parked, was significantly damaged. Restoration is almost impossible. The Su-24 bomber, which was in the repair hangar, was completely destroyed.

A fuel and lubricants warehouse was also hit. The strike caused a local fire. Although the fire was extinguished, smoldering and smoke from the area were recorded until 11:00 a.m., indicating serious damage to the warehouse premises.

Government Corruption
Democratic senators in the United States should investigate the assassination of John Kennedy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Democratic senators in the United States should investigate the assassination of their fellow party member, President John Kennedy, rather than identifying the “ties” between businessman Elon Musk and Russia. This was stated on November 16 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"I would like to advise Democratic senators to investigate the murder of their fellow party member, President Kennedy, as well as members of his family, who were cut down to the roots. For half a century, the American officialdom has been pretending not to understand what we are talking about," Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

The diplomat added that, in parallel, senators could begin investigating the corruption of another of their fellow party members, current President Joe Biden, as well as his family and their criminal ties to the Kiev regime in sponsoring terrorism.

As reported by Regnum, Reuters reported that in the United States, Democratic senators have demanded that federal authorities conduct an investigation into allegations of Musk's contacts with Russia. Thus, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and Senator from New Hampshire, Jeanne Shaheen, and the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Senator from Rhode Island, Jack Reed, wrote a letter to the Pentagon Inspector General and the Attorney General. They demanded an investigation and an assessment of whether Musk's company SpaceX should be disqualified from receiving government contracts.

JFK was killed because DC wanted / needed a war (Nam) and JFK wanted a US peaceful withdrawal.

Which JFK indicated in WH tapes and in public speeches.

The DC and Elite names that got $$$ rich off the Nam war likely don't want a real honest investigation. Which is why the JFK Doc's were sealed for 40 years and then delayed, delayed, delayed and still being delayed from being completely released, now 60+ years later.

Germany transfers 200 more Afghans from Pakistan after months of delay
[KhaamaPress] German media reported that approximately 200 Afghan refugees were transferred from Islamabad, Pakistain, to Germany on Thursday.

Reports on Friday, November 15, revealed that these individuals had worked as translators or drivers for Germany during their mission in Afghanistan. Their relocation underscores Germany’s commitment to assisting those who supported their operations.

The refugees reportedly fled Afghanistan to escape the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
following NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
’s withdrawal and sought refuge in Pakistain. This group of refugees included women and arrived at Erfurt Airport in Germany on Thursday evening.

Upon their arrival, the Afghan refugees were warmly welcomed by staff from Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The initiative reflects the humanitarian efforts of the German government to provide safety for at-risk individuals.

After the collapse of the previous Afghan government, the German federal government pledged to relocate 1,000 at-risk Afghans monthly to Germany. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
the process has faced significant delays, leaving many vulnerable people in uncertainty.

Reports indicate that while Germany’s Foreign Ministry had initially accepted the applications of several at-risk Afghans, subsequent security incidents led to the rejection of many applications. Afghan refugees in Pakistain were informed of these rejections through official emails.

Currently, Germany’s Interior Ministry estimates that around 3,000 at-risk Afghans are awaiting acceptance in Pakistain. Despite Germany’s commitment, the delays and rejections have added to the frustrations of those seeking safety.

As previously reported by the Regnum news agency, the man who took hostages in a restaurant in the suburbs of Paris announced his intention to commit suicide. According to Le Figaro, the people were taken hostage by the son of the establishment's owner. A negotiator arrived at the scene.

On September 30, on the Boulevard Saint-Germain in the center of Paris, criminals robbed the boutique of the fashion house Louis Vuitton. The robbers rammed the entrance doors of the store with a car. There were four criminals. In less than four minutes, they took half of the contents of the boutique.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the V Kontakte page of Tatyana Vasilyeva

‼⚡⚡⚡It is reported that personnel changes have taken place in the Seversky direction due to false reports to the top.

And now there is really good news.

After covering the situation at Belogorovka (in the Seversky direction), namely: incorrect reports from the command, unclear assaults and more - there is a result.

The army commander, the General Staff of the 3rd Army, has been removed from his post, the brigade commander of the 7th Motorized Rifle Brigade has been arrested, the battalion commanders have been removed.

Checks are also being carried out in the 6th and 123rd Motorized Rifle brigades in the same direction.

The situation was reported by Callsign 《OSETIN》

Actually, this is on the heels of the story about the alleged complete capture of Verkhnekamenskoye, Serebryanka, etc. and the lack of real progress in this direction. Let's see if the announced
changes will contribute to the intensification of the advance on the Seversky salient.

Hero firefighter reveals how he rescued two-year-old boy from burning apartment building
[Daily Mail, where America gets it news] A heroic firefighter saved the life of a toddler from a massive blaze at an apartment in Texas in the middle of the night.

Firefighters from the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department and the North Hood Volunteer Fire Department in North Texas were called to the fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

When they arrived on scene they found the toddler's mother, Phylicia Keen, beside herself.

The devastated mom was grappling with reality, having only been able to rescue her four-year-old son, unable to reach her younger boy who was still trapped inside.

The volunteer firefighters put their own lives on the line as one of them waded into the burning building after hearing the desperate cries of the trapped toddler - those of little two-year-old Liam who was stuck in a bedroom on the second floor.

As thick, suffocating smoke poured from the windows, firefighters didn't hesitate.

Blinded by the smoke, firefighters had to rely on Liam's cries to help guide them to where he was lying.

With an axe in hand, North Hood County Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Jonathan Head shattered a second-story window and entered into the darkness of the home.

'I was just going by his voice,' Lt. Head explained. 'Whenever I broke into the window and I climbed in, there was a lot of questions, but you couldn't see anything.'

Blind and disoriented, Head followed Liam’s cries as he navigated through the deadly haze.

'Every time he cried, that's where I went. I brushed up against him and he let out a scream,' he explained, recounting his efforts.

'So I knew I was on him. I picked him up out of pure excitement—that he was actually moving around... obviously crying is a good sign.'

Head said that despite the danger of the situation he actually felt a degree of comfort at hearing Liam's cries with each one confirming he was still alive.

Liam's mother, Phylicia told of the agonizing decision she faced as she was forced to leave one of her children behind in the burning building.

'Unfortunately, I was only able to grab the closest one to me to get out, by the time I came back to get the baby [Liam] the whole living room hallway was engulfed in black smoke,' she told CBS News.

Liam was rushed to Cooks Children's Hospital in Fort Worth where after he was treated for carbon monoxide poisoning where he has managed to make a full recovery over the last week.

The family have set up a GoFundMe to help pay for medical expenses and their search for a new home.

#1  If there are funds left over, get a thermal imager for that department.

#2  Some 70% plus firefighters in the US are volunteers.

Its a tough gig, on call 24 hours, plus meeting life regulations of being in-shape and proper for such activities.

See, a cracking fireplace is romantic. A cracking structure is noisy of all comprehension - loss of sight and hearing, absolutely dangerous, interior attack nevermind rescue is, well, Wow. I had the opportunity to share an evening with some Afghan vets from 82nd and even they were like geebus Dude. Sheet man, they gave me coins, and didn't understand why.

OK, Thermals are fine, they have their place, but in my handbag they are good passive information, like finding an eject from a vehicle crash. There is a lot of background fuzz if the environment is hot. Sometimes, it is the Mark 1 eye and ears - And Training. It is Heinleinian; shit fails.

We train S&R by putting on all the kit, then lumber the head by putting on a cut lawn and leaf trash bag over the head, and run a dungeon crawl in a maze made of sideways tables and whatnot. It is 3D Braille.

Iran-backed group in Iraq takes responsibility for drone fired at Eilat that crashed before entering Israel
Every day, in every way, they’re just as hapless as ever. But by Allah they feel good about helping the cause.
[IsraelTimes] The Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq takes responsibility for launching a drone this morning at Israel’s southernmost city of Eilat.

Sirens sounded in Eilat at 6 a.m. after the IDF says it identified a drone “from the east” heading toward Israel. The drone crashed before crossing into Israeli territory, according to the military.

#1  Iran told them to get with it our they would get no money. They set the drown short of target so they would not be killed by the IDF.

#2  You’re a more complex thinker than I, Old Salty. Maybe someday I’ll catch up.
