Belgian festival cancels screening of film on trans Gazan after Israel ‘pinkwashing’ claims
[IsraelTimes] A Belgian film festival has canceled the screening of a documentary film that touches on LGBTQ intolerance in Gaza after pressure from pro-Palestinian activists.

The film, “The Belle from Gaza,” by French director Yolande Zauberman, is not Israeli. It tells of a transgender woman who flees the Strip and relocates to Tel Aviv, and of her life in the community there.

In a statement, Cinemamed organizers said that the film was “accused by various activist groups of ‘contributing to the pinkwashing of Israel and the genocidal colonial narrative,’ a point of view that we do not share.”

However, they say that after “lengthy reflection” they decided to cancel the screening to maintain “the quality of the reception and the conviviality of the festival.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Police bar weekly Tel Aviv protest from Kaplan-Begin junction, citing recent low turnout
The endless anti-democratic, anti-Bibi protest plans to rant against several subjects instead of the usual just one. The reason is the temper tantrum is the hope of returning the Socialists to power as they used to be for the first forty years or so, not whatever they happen to be shouting about that week. So ld-fashioned and boring.
[IsraelTimes] Organizers of anti-government rally vow to fight move, say numbers were down due to Home Front Command rules, with Saturday set to host first major demos since limitations lifted

Police have informed anti-government protesters they will not be allowed to hold their regular Saturday night protest on the intersection of Kaplan Street and Begin Road in Tel Aviv, Hebrew media outlets reported on Thursday.

The spot was meant to host, this coming Saturday, its first rally since the Israel Defense Forces lifted limitations on gatherings in central Israel in light of the ceasefire in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
. Activists plan to focus on new bills being advanced by the government that they say represent a return of efforts for "a regime coup."

However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
police asserted that recent rallies have been too small to justify blocking the key intersection, and are demanding that the protest be relocated a short distance away from the junction, near IDF Headquarters’ Begin Gate.

"We note that a request was submitted to hold a protest with the participation of 50,000 protesters. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
the experience of the past weeks shows that in reality, a significantly smaller amount arrived than what the organizers had presented," police said in a statement in response to the reports, as quoted by Hebrew media outlets.

Police said it made the decision to balance the right to protest with the need to limit the impact on routine life. They said they will reassess the matter if there is a large number of participants at the protest.

Organizers have said the reason for the smaller turnout was the Home Front Command limitations, and have vowed to fight the decision.

"The police have not learned a thing — when it tries to harm the right to protest of the Israeli public, it only justifies our struggle. Israel won’t be a dictatorship, and the police will not be a political militia for the minister," organizers wrote on X, referencing National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

It said the protest would be held at Kaplan at 6:30 p.m.

Ben Gvir has been accused by critics of illegitimately interfering in police operations regarding anti-government protests, closely involving himself in policing the demonstrations in an attempt to repress them and pressuring police to use tougher methods of crowd dispersal.

…all true in America. But the Israeli version is just the renamed labour socialists giving a nod to their American political sponsors…
party also said that the police was acting under the orders of Ben Gvir to oppress the protest movement.

"Instead of doing their work to fight serious crime on the streets, they are busy persecuting protesters to please nefarious political interests. It won’t work for them — the protest will only get stronger," she said.

MK Gilad Kariv, also from the Democrats, said the police’s reasoning was just an excuse, as protesters were simply respecting IDF Home Front Command rules by not showing up in the masses.

"Next Saturday, the public will show the police and the minister in charge of it that it is not a handful, but the masses," he said.

, including the bodies of at least 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.

The focus of protests on new bills advanced by the government comes as members of Netanyahu’s coalition increasingly call for the sacking of the attorney general and to resume the government’s judicial overhaul program aimed at curbing the power of the High Court of Justice.

The overhaul legislation sparked mass, weekly protests throughout 2023, up until Hamas’s October 7 massacre.

Furthermore, opposition activists and politicians have criticized recent legislative initiatives to grant the government oversight over television ratings data and privatize the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation and Army Radio, saying that they are aimed at eroding press freedoms.

Critics, including the Foreign Press Association and the Union of Journalists in Israel, have accused the government of undermining democracy, while the bills’ backers argue that their legislation would liberalize the media market and increase competition.

Melbourne synagogue sustains severe damage in predawn attack by masked arsonists
[IsraelTimes] No serious injuries reported among Adass Israel congregants, some of whom were already there praying; synagogue board member says ‘inside completely gutted,’ holy books destroyed

Arsonists extensively damaged a Melbourne synagogue on Friday in what Australia’s prime minister condemned as an antisemitic attack.

A witness who had come to Adass Israel Synagogue to pray saw two masked people spreading an accelerant inside the building at 4:10 a.m., Victoria Police Detective Inspector Chris Murray said.

About 60 firefighters with 17 fire trucks responded to the blaze, which Murray said caused extensive damage.

No serious injuries were reported in the blaze, in the southeast Melbourne suburb of Ripponlea.

A witness entering the synagogue for morning prayers saw "two individuals wearing masks," Detective Inspector Chris Murray of the Victorian police arson and explosive squad told news hounds at the scene.

The synagogue was "engulfed in flames," he added.

Australian police said Friday they were looking for two people suspected of starting the fire. Police will increase patrols and do their utmost to catch the arsonists, who were wearing dark clothing, Murray said, adding that detectives would be looking at CCTV footage and interviewing any witnesses.

A board member of the synagogue, Benjamin Klein, said a few congregants were sitting and praying inside when the fire started, and "they heard loud banging."

Liquid was poured inside the synagogue and set alight, he said, adding, "If this had happened an hour later, there would have been hundreds of people inside."

Klein said the synagogue had increased security over the past 12 months amid safety concerns, without giving further details.

In 1995, the synagogue was damaged by a deliberately lit fire, with walls and Torah scrolls burned. Klein, who was a child at the time, said he remembered standing inside the damaged synagogue with his grandfather, a Holocaust survivor.

Opposition Leader Petter Dutton, meanwhile, said the attack was predictable, amid a rise in antisemitism that he said Albanese had failed to stand up against since the Hamas

Antisemitic incidents in Australia have quadrupled since the Hamas attack, amid a global surge. Physical assaults on Jews in Australia spiked from 11 the previous year to 65.

"Why have we allowed, since October 7 of last year, months and months of violent mostly peaceful protest to take place, the vilification of people of Jewish faith, the defacing of cars, and now the bombing of a synagogue?" Dutton said.

"It’s unacceptable, totally unacceptable in our country, and the prime minister needs to step up for our values, and he needs to do that not just here at home, but also in the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
and elsewhere around the world," he said, appealing to Albanese to be a more straightforward ally of Israel in international forums.

Israel’s Ambassador to Australia Amir Maimon on Friday noted that dozens of anti-Israel activists had staged a three-hour protest outside The Great Synagogue in downtown Sydney on Wednesday, demanding sanctions against Israel. Worshippers were prevented from leaving the synagogue during the demonstration.

Victoria State Premier Jacinta Allan noted in a statement that the synagogue was "built by Holocaust survivors." Many of the synagogue’s original worshippers were post-World War II immigrants colonists from Hungary.

Allan offered 100,000 Australian dollars ($64,300) to help repair the synagogue and said there would be an increased police presence in the area.

"Every available resource will be deployed to find these criminals who tried to tear a community apart," Allan said.

"We stand against antisemitism now and forever," she added.

IDF says top commander in Hamas internal security forces killed in south Gaza airstrike

operatives, including a top commander in the terror group’s internal security forces, the military said on Thursday.

Paleostinian media reported that some 20 people were killed in the strike in the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in the Khan Younis area, along with at least 19 others in other strikes across the Strip.

The IDF said it took numerous steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike, including by using a precision munition, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

The military said that the Hamas commander, Osama Ghanim, was involved in "activity to suppress the citizens of Gaza and was responsible for detecting threats against Hamas from within the Strip.

"Ghanim held a key role in implementing Hamas’s brutal methods, which included conducting harsh civilian interrogations while violating human rights

, suppressing residents suspected of opposing Hamas, and persecuting civilians from the LGBTQ+ community," the IDF said.

Following the strike, the IDF said it had identified secondary blasts, indicating the presence of weapons in the area. Paleostinian media published footage purportedly showing the strike.

Gaza medics said the 20 killed in the strike included women and kiddies, though these accounts could not be independently verified.

Paleostinians said the strike set several large tents ablaze and exploding cooking gas canisters and burning furniture fueled the fire. The area was strewn with charred clothing, mattresses, and other belongings among the twisted frames of burnt-out shelters, according to the accounts.

Some 2 million Paleostinians of the 2.3 million Gazook population are residing in the Israeli-designated "humanitarian zone," according to IDF assessments. The zone is located in the al-Mawasi area on the southern Strip’s coast, western neighborhoods of Khan Younis, and central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah.

Also Thursday, Army Radio reported that some 18,000 Paleostinian civilians have been evacuated from Beit Lahiya in the past day. Before entering the town last month, the IDF estimated that only a few thousand Paleostinians were residing there.

During the population’s evacuation from several shelters in the combat zone, troops detained around 100 suspected terror operatives who were taken to Israel for questioning, according to the report.

The military has previously denied it is seeking to forcibly displace Paleostinians in Gaza, saying that "the IDF’s warnings to members of the civilian population to temporarily distance themselves from areas expected to be exposed to intense warfare are made in accordance with the obligation under international law to take feasible precautions to mitigate civilian harm by providing advance warnings prior to attacks. The IDF only operates in areas in which there is known to be a military presence, and is still at this time working to dismantle Hamas’s military infrastructure in various parts throughout the Gaza Strip."

Troops killed some 20 terror operatives during fighting in Beit Lahiya in the past day, Army Radio reported, a relatively low figure compared to recent weeks, as the fighting in the area has become less intense.

The incidents came amid a renewed push to secure a hostage-ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas after US President-elect Donald Trump
...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried....
threatened this week to punish those responsible if abductees kidnapped by the Paleostinian terror group for over a year aren’t released before his inauguration.

An Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Thursday that a recent Egyptian hostage deal proposal passed on to Hamas offered an extended ceasefire during which hostages in the "humanitarian" category would be released.

Hamas has until now repeatedly refused agreements that do not include a full withdrawal of Israeli troops and a permanent end to the war, which was sparked when some 3,000 gunnies burst across the border into Israel on October 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 251 hostages, mostly civilians, many amid acts of brutality and sexual assault.

It also came as Amnesty International accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza during its war with Hamas in a new report, saying it has sought to deliberately destroy Paleostinians by mounting deadly attacks, demolishing vital infrastructure and preventing the delivery of food, medicine and other aid. The report was swiftly denounced by Israel as based on falsehoods. It was also rejected by Amnesty Israel, the local branch of the Amnesty International organization, with some members accusing the authors of reaching a "predetermined conclusion."

Meanwhile on Thursday, Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya in the north of the enclave, said a 16-year-old boy who used a wheelchair was killed and several people, including medics, were maimed by Israeli drone fire against the medical facility.

There was no comment from the IDF on Abu Safiya’s account. The health ministry said the three hospitals that are barely operational in northern Gaza have come under repeated attack since the IDF launched an offensive against Hamas in the Strip’s far northern towns of Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoun in early September.

So far, the military estimates that it has killed at least 1,750 operatives during the operation, while another 1,300 have been detained, and around 90,000 civilians evacuated from the area.

Thirty-one IDF soldiers have been killed so far in the operation.

Elsewhere in Gaza, medics in Gaza City said an Israeli attack destroyed a house where an extended family had taken shelter and damaged two nearby homes, killing at least three people.

In Rafah, near the border with Egypt, medics said an Israeli strike killed three Paleostinians on Thursday, and three others in a separate Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Shejaia, in eastern Gaza City.

There was no immediate IDF comment on those strikes.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli official: Egypt has proposed hostage deal with extended truce, not end to war
[IsraelTimes] Official says Israel open to discussing outline that has been handed to Hamas, in which ‘humanitarian’ category of hostages would be released, reportedly over 60 days

A recent Egyptian hostage deal proposal passed on to Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
offered an extended ceasefire during which hostages in the "humanitarian" category would be released, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Thursday, as mediators launched a flurry of activity to reach an agreement to end the 14-month war.

The updated hostage deal proposal given to Hamas by Egypt was not an Israeli offer as previously reported by the Axios news site, the official said, but was instead a proposal made by Cairo that Israel is fully open to discussing.

The official noted that the proposal is not for an end to the war, but an extended ceasefire that will allow the elderly, children, women, ill and badly maimed hostages to be released. The number of living hostages in these groups is today understood to be fewer than the 33 that was previously discussed in talks over past months.

Hamas still has not indicated whether it is willing to discuss the proposal, but if it is, Israel will send a delegation to Cairo to negotiate, the official said.

Hamas has until now repeatedly refused agreements that do not include a permanent end to the war and a full withdrawal of Israeli troops. Hebrew media reports said Thursday that Hamas may be willing to show flexibility on these demands, though it has given no publication indication of this.

Israel is interested in Egypt remaining at the center of the talks, said the official, adding that Qatar

remains updated behind the scenes and will want to take full part in mediation if there is progress. "The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has no role," the official said, contradicting earlier reports.

Qatar announced last month it was suspending its role until the two parties show "willingness and seriousness" to resume talks. Steve Witkoff, US President-elect Donald Trump

’s incoming Middle East envoy, traveled to Qatar and Israel this week in order to kickstart efforts, while a source familiar with the matter confirmed to The Times of Israel that Doha had quietly resumed its role as a mediator.

A US official said Biden’s aides were aware of Witkoff’s meetings and understood that Witkoff supports a Gazoo

deal along the lines the administration has been pursuing, but did not see a need to coordinate with him.

The Israeli official who spoke to The Times of Israel noted that Trump’s threat this week to punish those responsible if the hostages aren’t released before his inauguration should have a positive effect on attempts to reach a deal: "Hamas takes it seriously, especially now that they are isolated in the campaign."

Israel is speaking to both the Biden administration and the Trump team about the hostages, said the official, but won’t say whether Trump’s Truth Social post was coordinated with Israel. "They hear our claims, and we see eye to eye with them on the need to apply pressure on Hamas," was all the official would offer.

Israel has begun applying more military pressure on Hamas in Gaza in recent days, the official said.

War was sparked on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led Death Eaters swarmed into southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people and abducting 251.

The recent proposal handed to Hamas is similar to the phased plan under discussion in August but now is focused primarily on getting the first phase done. Hamas has also shown a new openness to a partial deal, two Israeli officials told Axios Wednesday.

In the updated proposal, Israel is now willing to entertain the option of a ceasefire that would last up to 60 days, whereas previously the first stage was only 42 days. During the ceasefire, Axios reported, living female hostages, all living men over 50, and those with serious medical conditions would be released. Israel had been demanding 33 living hostages from these groups, but believes there are not that many alive in those categories anymore.

Israel is still willing to release hundreds of Paleostinian security prisoners, including some serving life sentences for deadly terror attacks.

According to the report, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several senior ministers and security chiefs approved the proposal on Sunday and then passed it to the Egyptians, who presented it to Hamas in Cairo on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile,

Massad Boulos — selected as Donald Trump’s Middle East adviser — told the French Le Point outlet Tuesday that "both sides have agreed on the broad outlines of an agreement."

"The war is practically over," he said. "There is practically no more significant military activity. The only issue that remains is the hostages, and the parties have already agreed on several occasions on an exchange between hostages and Paleostinian prisoners."

"The main lines of the agreement have already been established and there are only very small details to be settled on a few names," Boulos said, "the number of people released [on the Paleostinian side] and the period over which the exchanges should take place."

Iran causing trouble: Israel raises travel warnings for Maldives, Armenia, lowers warning for Brazil
[IsrelTimes] The National Security Council adjusts the travel warning for three countries following an updated security assessment.

The travel warning level is raised in both the Maldives and in Armenia but lowered in Brazil.

The travel warning for Armenia is upped from Level 1 to Level 2, “in light of the worsening threat to Israelis/Jews in Armenia from terrorist elements,” the NSC says.

Level 2 recommends travelers “take increased precautionary measures,” but is not seen as a call to avoid or leave the country altogether.

In the Maldives, the warning is upped from Level 2 to Level 3, “in light of the presence of terrorist supporters on the island alongside increasing hostility toward Israelis and Jews.”

Under a Level 3 warning, Israelis are recommended to avoid all nonessential travel to the location.

Lastly, the NSC says it has lowered the travel warning for Brazil back down to Level 1, with the exception of the Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay tri-border area, where a Level 2 warning will remain in place.

Fifth Column
Trump gears up to deliver on promise to curb anti-Israel campus protests
[IsraelTimes] The incoming president has promised to defeat the ‘radical revolution,’ throw activists who aren’t US citizens out of the country, and slash funding for campuses that allow them

Jewish parents in Maryland’s Montgomery County have no clue how their school district’s antisemitism investigation is proceeding.

It’s been more than nine months since the US Department of Education opened its Title VI civil rights probe into reports of antisemitic bullying, including at pro-Paleostinian student protests, in the suburban Maryland district. The case was one of more than 100 investigations the department’s Office of Civil Rights has opened at colleges and K-12 districts — part of the Biden administration’s highly publicized efforts to combat rising campus antisemitism and Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...

’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7 last year in which it murdered some 1,200 people, and took 251 hostages.

Yet currently, according to department records, the vast majority of those cases have yet to be resolved, including one relating to Montgomery County Public Schools. And the parent activists who initially sounded the alarm in the district say they haven’t heard anything.

"If there is an investigation, it certainly doesn’t seem to be causing much concern," Margery Smelkinson, one of the Jewish parents, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency last week. "The process is completely opaque, and it’s hard not to conclude that nothing is actually being done."

Smelkinson’s group, the Maryland Jewish Alliance, tried submitting its own Title VI complaint, in partnership with the right-wing Zionist Organization of America. The initial complaint was filed by a conservative activist with no connection to the district and without the group’s knowledge, based on an op-ed Smelkinson and another parent had written. By contrast, the complaint from the parents who actually lived there, she felt, was "far more detailed."

Yet the office wouldn’t open theirs, because the less detailed one had beaten them to the punch — a sign, she believes, that the department is only doing "the bare minimum."

HOW IS TRUMP PLANNING TO CURB CAMPUS PROTESTS?
Critics of the OCR’s handling of antisemitism complaints are hoping that will change during a second term for incoming US president Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th and 47th President of the United States...
, who has proposed a radical overhaul of United States education policy, including shuttering the DOE altogether. He also wants to use the long arm of the law against pro-Paleostinian, non-citizen campus protesters, having threatened to deport them.

If Trump were to follow through on closing the Department of Education, the Department of Justice would be a likely new home for campus civil rights issues including Title VI. Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Pam Bondi, has taken a hardline approach against campus pro-Paleostinian protesters.

Other campaign promises, including threats to hold university endowments and accreditations hostage unless they curb what Trump calls "Marxist maniacs and lunatics," have set off alarm bells among many education insiders and proponents of academic freedom. They worry about his nominee for education secretary, Linda McMahon, who has very little education experience, and note that Trump-friendly states like Texas and Oklahoma are more openly embracing a push to get Bible-tinged curriculum into public schools.

But some Jewish parents, if they’re not exactly welcoming all of these changes, see an opportunity in Trump’s education agenda. It was under his first administration, they point out, that the department expanded some Title VI protections for Jews, as outlined in a 2019 executive order on antisemitism.

"One can only assume this issue will be taken more seriously under his administration," Smelkinson said.

Through a spokesperson, the Department of Education declined to comment for this story. But its brass hats, including current Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Catherine Lhamon, who oversees the Office of Civil Rights, have in the past year told JTA they place a high priority on fighting campus antisemitism in their department through Title VI.
One sees the results of their priority over the past four years, which is the whole point of the article. The rest of the article reports on the usefulness of Title VI, a Trump 45 initiative, and that addressing it through the Justice Department would be considerably more effective, as citizen-initiated lawsuits have been accumulating with little resolution from the [Harris-]Biden administration despite their claims to care so dreadfully. (Yes, dear Reader, they do care most dreadfully — I saw that, too.)

How the Trump administration and congressional Republicans may crack down on pro-Palestinian protesters
[NBCnews] Trump allies and other Republicans have been giving a preview of what could happen to protests, protesters and aligned groups once the new administration begins.

Congressional Republicans and former Trump appointees have spent the last year building out their response to the movement protesting Israel’s war in Gaza, and now that Donald Trump is returning to the White House they warn that protest leaders, activists and those who help them raise money could face an onslaught of federal investigations and possible indictments.

An NBC News review of congressional hearings and letters, along with lawsuits filed by organizations led by former Trump officials, provides a preview of which federal laws a second Trump administration could use when pursuing investigations and potential prosecutions.

Judging from what has been pushed thus far, there are several legal measures most likely to be used once Trump returns to Washington. One would be deporting foreign college students in the U.S. on a visa after they’re found to have openly advocated for Hamas or another U.S.-designated terror group, or after they participated in an unauthorized campus protest and were suspended, expelled or jailed.

Another measure would be to pursue federal prosecutions of demonstrators who block synagogue entrances or disrupt Jewish speakers at events. A third approach is to charge protest leaders and nonprofits that aid in fundraising for protest groups with failing to register with the U.S. Justice Department as an “agent of a foreign principal.” And a fourth avenue is to open investigations into protest leaders who are in direct contact with U.S.-designated terror groups while advocating on their behalf.

The multifaceted law enforcement approach is a marked departure from the Biden administration’s response to the protest movement. Some of the nation’s leading civil rights groups told NBC News that they are gearing up for a flood of legal battles to protect the protesters.

“Trying to predict what Trump will do is a fool’s errand. We have to be prepared for the most extreme version of what he’s threatened,” said Ben Wizner, the director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project. “We have to take him both literally and seriously.”

‘A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN’
Biden administration officials have told NBC News that prosecuting speech-related crimes related to the anti-war protests is not a high priority for the current Justice Department, nor is seeking out student protesters on foreign visas a top concern for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“President Trump will enforce the law,” said Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, in an email to NBC News. Ernst recently asked the FBI to open an investigation into a pro-Hamas student group at Columbia University called Columbia University Apartheid Divest. A member had threatened “Zionists” on social media, which the organization had initially distanced itself from after a strong public outcry but later supported in an Instagram post. CUAD also has handed out pro-Hamas flyers that circulated around campus featuring masked men holding weapons.

“There is a new sheriff in town,” Ernst said. The FBI has yet to respond to Ernst’s request, her office said. An FBI spokesperson did not immediately respond to request for comment. A Columbia University spokesperson said CUAD is not a recognized organization by the school and the flyers were under investigation. Members of CUAD declined to comment.

Reed Rubinstein, who held high-ranking positions in both the Justice Department and the U.S. Education Department in the first Trump administration, is now a senior vice president at America First Legal, a public policy law firm in Washington, D.C., founded by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller. (Miller is expected to return to the White House as a deputy chief of staff for policy.)

Under Rubinstein, America First Legal has in the past year filed four lawsuits that provide a glimpse into how the Trump administration could differ from its predecessor. America First Legal alleges in the suits that the State Department, the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Education have protected pro-Hamas extremists.

In court papers and in letters to several federal oversight officials, America First Legal has also said it believes the Justice Department should have forced several leaders of pro-Palestinian groups to report themselves under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, known as FARA, which requires individuals acting as “an agent of a foreign principal” to register themselves with the Justice Department.

It has also accused the Department of Education of not following Title VI regulations, which prohibits schools that accept federal funding from allowing on-campus discrimination based on race, shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics including being Jewish.

“There’s a difference between lawful speech and unlawful conduct,” Rubinstein told NBC News. “Law enforcement has an obligation to act.”

Although the lawsuits haven’t progressed in court, they provide a possible road map for how Trump-minded prosecutors could respond to the protest movement.

So far, only the Education Department has responded to the allegations, court papers show, and said the agency doesn’t have sufficient evidence to respond to the claims that policies aren’t being enforced. The Justice Department didn’t respond to a request for comment. Spokespeople at the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Education all said they can’t comment on pending litigation.

Rubinstein in an interview brought up an additional law he expects a second Trump administration could enforce. Known as the FACE Act, the law prohibits people from using force, threats or intimidation while blocking entrances of places of worship. Earlier this month, protesters with SJP Chicago gathered at the Chicago Loop Synagogue to demonstrate against an Arab Israeli speaker who had served in the Israeli military. Videos posted to social media showed demonstrators blocking the synagogue’s entrance, banging on the windows and getting inside.

“You do not have the right to deny somebody the ability to congregate in a church or synagogue,” Rubinstein said. “We would like to see the Department of Justice do its job.”

A spokesman for the FBI’s Chicago office said its policy is not to confirm or deny the existence of an investigation. The Chicago Police Department said it arrested two protesters and charged them with trespassing and one with property damage, both misdemeanor charges.

SJP Chicago did not respond to a request for comment. But in an Instagram post, it said protesters were not being anti-Jewish. “Zionist have scrambled to throw together a narrative that these acts were anti-semetic and fueled by hate (what’s new).”

AN EXPECTED FLOOD OF LEGAL BATTLES
Some of the nation’s leading free speech and civil rights groups say they are gearing up to fight a new Trump administration and any attempts to go after protesters or their funders. Since 9/11, organizations including the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), along with the ACLU, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Knight First Amendment Institute have represented Muslim Americans and pro-Palestinian activists in cases involving free speech, surveillance or abuse.

Edward Ahmed Mitchell, CAIR’s deputy executive director, argued that the Biden administration failed to enforce FARA against leaders of pro-Israel groups. Mitchell said both Trump and President Joe Biden single out pro-Palestinian activists with either a lack of enforcement or with too much enforcement.

“Just as Americans who peacefully marched, protested and lobbied against segregation, the Vietnam War and South African apartheid were not deterred when government agencies spied upon, smeared, arrested and brutalized them,” Mitchell said, “the college students, human rights activists and everyday Americans peacefully opposing the Gaza genocide have not been deterred by such government abuses and, God willing, will not be deterred by such abuses in the future.”

Both CCR and the ACLU told NBC News that their concerns go beyond what the administration could do to crack down on just the protests. They pointed to the possibility that a Republican-led Congress could pass a bill currently under consideration that would strip away the tax-exempt status of nonprofits that a Trump appointed treasury secretary designates as providing material support to “terrorist supporting organizations.” CCR also said it worries a second Trump administration could wrongly level accusations of failing to register as foreign agents against protest leaders and nonprofits that aid protest groups with collecting donations. CCR is also watching whether a Trump Justice Department will charge certain activists accused of supporting Hamas and other U.S.-designated terror organizations with violating a U.S. anti-terror law that prohibits advocating for terror groups while in coordination with them.

“We are prepared for the Trump administration coming in and changing the game, particularly around the question, ‘Where does speech fit into this?’” said Vince Warren, CCR’s executive director. “To the extent that the Biden administration drew a line between speech and actionable conduct, we don’t think that the Trump administration will do that at all.”

CCR is also concerned about the plans laid out in Project Esther, an initiative backed by the Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank that published Project 2025. Project Esther urges law enforcement to use a plethora of federal and state laws to dismantle what it terms the “global Hamas Support Network” using racketeering laws — used to break up the mafia — along with anti-terrorism and anti-hate speech laws.

“They will throw any type of spaghetti up against the wall,” Warren said.

The Knight Institute said although it expects the new Trump administration to aggressively police speech, it is prepared to fight back. Earlier this month, Knight successfully rebuffed the Biden Treasury Department, which had blocked a New York based nonprofit from organizing an overseas conference with Hezbollah members, arguing it can’t work with people sanctioned for ties to terrorism groups. The agency reversed course and settled the case earlier this month after Knight argued that an academic exchange of ideas could not violate anti-terror laws.

“If there’s one thing the First Amendment protects, it’s the right of Americans to criticize their own government’s policies,” said Jameel Jaffer, the Knight Institute’s executive director.

The ACLU’s Wizner struck a similar note, saying: “The courts have made clear that the First Amendment protects all manner of controversial advocacy, including advocacy of violence, so long as the speaker isn’t actively inciting imminent harm,” Wizner said.

IMPACT ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES
Kenneth Marcus, who ran the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights during the Trump and George W. Bush administrations, now leads the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, one of the leading civil rights organizations focused on Jewish students. Over the past year, the center has sued a growing list of universities arguing officials failed to stop what it sees as widespread antisemitism on campus.

Marcus said he has met with Department of Education officials requesting an expansion of civil rights enforcement to protect Jewish students on campuses. The Department of Education didn’t respond to questions regarding Marcus’ concerns.

“We know that President Trump has repeatedly expressed concern about the campus situation,” Marcus said.

During the presidential campaign, one of the 20 promises in the preamble to the Republican Party platform was to “deport pro-Hamas radicals and make our college campuses safe and patriotic again.”

NBC News reported in August that the Biden administration said it was not targeting visa revocations for foreign students who may have engaged in speech-related offenses or participated in unauthorized campus protests and had not terminated any university or college student visas due to protest activity related to the Israel-Hamas war.

Trump’s return to Washington could lead to possible attempts to revoke student visas for foreign students who openly support Hamas or other U.S.-designated terror organizations, Marcus said. Marcus also anticipates more intervention from the Justice Department when Jewish students say they are being targeted on campus.

At a campaign stop in September, Trump said that at the start of his second presidency, he would inform universities that if they allow violence and threats against Jewish students, they “will be held accountable for violations of the civil rights law.”

“My administration will move swiftly to restore safety for Jewish students and Jewish people on American streets,” Trump said.

Palestinian security forces battle gunmen in Jenin after PA vehicles stolen
[IsraelTimes] Palestinian Authority deploys troops around camp in northern West Bank, vows to recover the vehicles that armed men waving Islamic Jihad flags paraded through the streets

Firefights erupted in Jenin in the northern West Bank on Thursday between button men and Paleostinian security forces following the theft of vehicles belonging to the Paleostinian Authority, according to AFP journalists in the city.

The intense exchanges of fire began around 9:30 p.m. and followed the deployment of members of the security forces around the Jenin refugee camp, which is adjacent to the city and a stronghold for terror groups in the West Bank, according to the journalist.

Witnesses reported that the Paleostinian security forces set up roadblocks on routes leaving the camp.

Tensions were running high in Jenin earlier in the day after a group of gunnies seized two vehicles belonging to the PA and paraded through the streets waving Islamic Jihad

In a statement, General Anwar Rajab, front man for the security forces, said "a group of outlaws opened fire on the headquarters of the security services" and stole two vehicles.

He said the security forces would "recover the vehicles and hold accountable anyone who committed this act."

Tensions between the PA and terror groups appear to have been exacerbated by recent arrests by the security forces.

At a presser inside Jenin camp, Mahmud Abu Talal, front man for a collective of local armed factions, said the PA had "abandoned its people in the most difficult circumstances."

He rejected the label of outlaws and accused the PA of "carrying out a continuous operation to undermine those who protect their people."

Jenin has long been a bastion of Paleostinian terrorist organizations and was the focus of a major Israeli raid launched at the end of August.

Government Corruption
Capitol Police union boss decries special treatment for officer who killed unarmed J6 protester
[JustTheNews] The union's statements come after reports that the officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt received special financial support from police leadership under pressure from Democrats.

The U.S. Capitol Police union leader is calling out the department for providing special financial and other benefits to Capt. Michael Byrd, the officer who fatally shot Jan. 6 protestor Ashli Babbitt, that were not given to fellow officers.

“What a slap in the face to the rank and file officers of the USCP, especially all who were on duty on J6,” U.S. Capitol Police union Chairman Gus Papathanasiou said in a statement Thursday to Just the News.

Just the News reported Wednesday that House Democratic leadership pressured the Capitol Police to provide financial and other assistance to then-Lt. Michael Byrd after the shooting that included a $37,000 retention bonus, help with $160,000 in private fundraising, housing, and a promotion to captain.

This assistance far surpassed the support given to other officers who were serving on the Capitol grounds that day.

Papathanasiou demanded that Byrd be forced to repay the amounts he was given that exceeded bonuses for other officers who served on Jan. 6, 2021, or that the department provide the same benefits to all.

"Not sure what makes Mike Byrd so special that he thinks he needed to be 'taken care of' by the Department. USCP should give every officer a $37k bonus or have Mike Byrd pay it all back," the union boss said.

A lawyer for Byrd and a spokesman for Capitol Police did not return messages seeking comment.

Internal communications reviewed by Just the News show that Byrd was unsatisfied with the generous assistance and worked with at least one Democratic representative to secure even more benefits, specifically from a memorial fund dedicated to providing help to wounded officers.

"We play the game as you request and then once we’re in compliance You guys change the rules on us,” Byrd wrote to U.S. Capitol Police General Counsel Thomas DiBiase in November 2021 after being informed he wouldn't be able to immediately access charitable funds from the memorial fund.

Byrd, who was promoted to captain in 2023, has also stirred controversy because of his lengthy disciplinary record including gun incidents like firing on a stolen vehicle in a residential neighborhood while off duty and a suspension for leaving his weapon unattended in a public restroom.

Union head: "what else is the USCP covering up?"
According to Chairman Barry Loudermilk of the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee, whose committee has led the charge in investigating the Capitol Police and the many security failures on January 6, said that there are at least three further referrals to the Office of Professional Responsibility, but that the records are missing.

Loudermilk called the political influence on the Capitol Police to treat Byrd favorably “highly inappropriate” in an interview on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. He said the thing that bothers him the most about the Byrd saga is the “lack of transparency and the political meddling that that was going on.”

China-Japan-Koreas
South Korean Police Open Treason Case Against President over Martial Law
[Breitbart] Police in South Korea formally began an investigation into President Yoon Suk-yeol after receiving two complaints accusing him of treason.

Yoon imposed a brief state of martial law on Tuesday night that shocked an alarmed the country, stating in a nationally televised address that military rule was necessary to combat the nefarious influence of North Korean communist sympathizers. At press time, Yoon has not named any of those alleged sympathizers or offered the public specifics on the threats that he claimed required the imposition of martial law.

The state of martial law only briefly stood, as members of the National Assembly flooded the legislative floor and voted unanimously to overturn it, exercising their constitutional power. To get to the voting floor, however, they had to barrel through a wave of soldiers deployed to enforce the ban on political activity that martial law requires, meeting minimal resistance from the heavily armed fighters. No reports of major injuries or death were reported during the martial law phase.

By the early morning hours of Wednesday, Yoon had announced that the martial law order was rescinded. He has since held a meeting with senior members of his People Power Party (PPP), who loudly protested the martial law order along with the rest of the nation’s major minority parties, but has not addressed the South Korean people.

The Democratic Party, the largest opposition party, began an impeachment process against Yoon on Wednesday. Yoon is also facing criminal proceedings however on the grounds that he may have committed insurrection or treason against his own government. The National Assembly is expected to vote on Yoon’s impeachment on Saturday.

The South Korean newswire agency Yonhap reported that the opposition Rebuilding Korea Party and a coalition of dozens of activists filed two separate complaints against Yoon for the martial law declaration, which opens a formal criminal process.

“The complaints accused not only Yoon but also former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Park An-su and Interior Minister Lee Sang-min of treason,” Yonhap reported, “and other related charges for their roles in the declaration and subsequent lifting of martial law on Tuesday.”

The head of the Rebuilding Korea Party, Hwang Un-ha, was among the first to publicly accuse Yoon of treason.

“The president committed an act tantamount to treason by mobilizing the military,” Hwang said on Wednesday. “It is clear that he cannot remain in office even for a moment longer. Therefore, we must urgently pass an impeachment motion.”

Multiple reports in South Korean outlets have identified Kim, the defense minister prior to Wednesday, as the only cabinet member who knew and supported the martial law decree. The Korea JoongAng Daily, citing anonymous sources, described Yoon as telling only Kim about the plan before about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, hours before he went on television and imposed martial law. Kim and Yoon went to the same high school.

“Most ministers who attended the meeting reportedly learned about the agenda only upon arriving at the venue. The process was carried out in secrecy,” JoongAng detailed. “Prime Minister Han Duck-soo arrived at the presidential office and expressed objections to the declaration, arguing that it could negatively impact the economy.”

“In addition to Han, Deputy Prime Minister Choi and Foreign Minister Cho reportedly strongly opposed the declaration, citing its potential impact on the economy and foreign relations,” the report continued.

The chief of staff of the army, Gen. Park An-su, told the Korean National Assembly on Thursday that he found out about the martial law decree from Yoon’s televised address – and only found out he would be the commander of the operation after Yoon published the decree itself following the national announcement.

Yoon appeared on television and painted a dire portrait of the country as vulnerable to falling into the hands of North Korean influence.

“I declare martial law to protect the Republic of Korea from the threats of North Korean communist forces, to immediately eradicate the unscrupulous pro-Pyongyang anti-state forces that pillage the freedom and happiness of our people and to protect free constitutional order,” Yoon alleged. He did not specify the nature of the threat and did not appear to convince much of the country that martial law was necessary.

The National Assembly voted against martial law shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday after a dramatic scene in which lawmakers had to fight soldiers to get to their chambers. Yoon rapidly withdrew and has yet to offer any public defense of his decision.

The PPP, Yoon’s party, publicly opposed the martial law declaration immediately after Yoon delivered his speech. Party chief Han Dong-hoon issued remarks stating that the decree was “wrong” and his party would fight Yoon “alongside the people.”

“As the ruling party, we feel deeply apologetic to the public for today’s disastrous situation,” Han said at a press conference on Wednesday. “President Yoon should directly explain the disastrous situation and hold those responsible strictly accountable, including the immediate dismissal of the defense minister who proposed the martial law.”

Han said on Thursday that he had demanded in talks with Yoon that he resign from party membership and the PPP was “not trying to defend the president’s unconstitutional martial law.”

The PPP, the nation’s largest conservative party, rose from the ashes of the Liberty Korea Party, which dramatically reconfigured after its last president, Park Geun-hye, was convicted and sentenced to 24 years in prison for corruption and abuse of power related to her inappropriate relationship with members of the leadership of a cult. Leftist President Moon Jae-in pardoned Park in 2021 and she attended Yoon’s inauguration. Yoon was part of the prosecution team that processed her case.

Biden Laments America's ‘Original Sin' of Slavery in Angola
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden toured the National Museum of Slavery in Angola’s capital of Luanda on Tuesday, delivering a speech in which he described slavery as America’s “original sin” and claiming it still taints American public discourse.

“The United States is founded on an idea, one embedded in our Declaration of Independence, that all men and women are created equal. It is abundantly clear today we have not lived up to that idea, but we have not fully walked away from it either,” Biden said.

Biden said slavery was “cruel, brutal, dehumanizing,” an “original sin” that “haunted America and cast a long shadow ever since.”

NBC News noted that Biden gave his speech in the “shadow” of the former chapel at a onetime slavery annex, “where Africans were forced into Christian baptism before they were loaded onto ships to become part of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.”
What should be astoundingly ignorantly offensive posturing, but is sadly not astounding. There would have been no Atlantic slave trade had Africans not captured one another and put them up for sale for the last 2200 years, going back to the Classical Roman empire — most of the trade before, during, and even today going to the Ummah rather than the West. Which makes slavery the original sin that has always haunted humanity, America being part of that special case of Western, Christian societies that actually gave it up.

National Christmas Tree Lighting Interrupted by Joe Biden Being a Complete Weirdo
[RedState] It sure seems like Kamala Harris' loss in the 2024 election has been the best thing to ever happen to Joe Biden. The guy appears to be having the time of his life, personifying the idea that absolutely nothing matters as he throws caution to the wind. That includes falling asleep during a diplomatic meeting in Africa on Wednesday.

I'm not sure whether to laugh about this stuff or be deeply concerned. After all, this guy is still in charge of the nuclear codes. Well, at least ostensibly.

It certainly seems like his handlers have lost all control. I'd assume that if they had any sway left, they'd have Biden locked up in Delaware until Donald Trump's inauguration. That he continues to make high-profile public appearances, especially after embarrassing himself in Africa, is astonishing. I guess once a president burns their legacy to the ground by pardoning their criminal, degenerate son, the rest is gravy.

Fast-forward to Thursday, and Biden showed up for the National Christmas Tree Lighting. He could have just stood around and enjoyed the show, but the president is just way too weird for that. So he ripped his beanie off instead, leading to some hilarious pictures, and mumbled insults at the press.

That is a picture of a man who simply doesn't care anymore, and I'm kind of here for it. No one has ever been a lamer duck than Joe Biden, and he embodies that every moment of the day. If that means taking a nap while the entire world is watching, he's going to do it. If it means letting his hair plugs flap in the wind, making him look like a deranged lunatic, whatever. What does he care? Biden is a complete weirdo, and he's got no reason to even attempt to hide it anymore.

Meanwhile, Americans are forced to hold their breath, hoping that the nation's adversaries don't take further advantage of the invalid in the White House. That's what the Democratic Party has wrought, and it's a big reason they got shellacked in the election. For once, it feels like justice has prevailed on the political front.

Trump assassination attempt hearing devolves into screaming match
Methinks he doth protest too much.
[FoxNews] Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe shouted at Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, after the congressman lambasted the service

The acting director of the U.S. Secret Service and a Texas congressman got into a screaming match Thursday during a hearing on the agency's failures leading to two assassination attempts against President-elect Donald Trump.

Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe shouted at Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, after the GOP lawmaker lambasted the service for security lapses that made Trump a target of two failed shooting attempts.

The outburst happened after Fallon showed a picture of Presidents Biden and Trump at a 9/11 commemoration ceremony this year and suggested that as the Special Agent in Charge of that detail, Rowe should have been close enough to Biden to be in the picture. Rowe was not pictured.

"Who is usually at an event like this closest to the President of the United States?" Fallon asked, pointing at the photo. "Were you the special agent in charge of the detail that day?

Rowe said the security detail was present but out of view of the camera. As he spoke, he became enraged and accused Fallon of using 9/11 for political purposes.

"That is the day where we remember more than 3,000 people that have died on 9/11. I actually responded to Ground Zero," Rowe said. "I was there going through the ashes of the World Trade Center."

"I'm not asking that, I'm asking you, if you were… were you the special agent in charge!?" Fallon interrupted, shouting at Rowe.

Rowe raised his voice in response. "I was there to show respect for a Secret Service member that died on 9/11!" he yelled back.

"Do not invoke 9/11 for political purposes!" Rowe screamed at the lawmaker.

"I'm not," Fallon fired back, as the committee chairman demanded order and banged his gavel.

"You are, sir. You are out of line, congressman!" Rowe fumed. "Way out of line."

Fallon then accused Rowe of "playing politics" by refusing to answer his question.

"I am a public servant who has served this nation," Rowe retorted, saying he served on the nation's "darkest day."

"You will not politicize it!" Rowe thundered.
Nor is it his place to chastise the congressman who oversees his work. I’m not sure if it is insubordination, but it’s certainly impolitic. And rude..
Outside the hearing room, Fallon told Fox News' Chad Pergram that he had legitimate questions about why Rowe was there that day, suggesting that Rowe was auditioning for the job of full-time director by getting close to Biden and Trump that day.

"There's no reason for him to be there. There isn't. Try to find a place at a time in history where the Secret Service director was that close to the president at a function or event. I don't think you could find it. So, yeah, I think he was auditioning for the job, a job that I don't believe he's going to get come Jan. 20. I have not talked to the president about that, but I suspect that they're going to find much better people because we need to change the culture as well."

Britain
Niall Ferguson: The Rot In Britain‐and the Remedy
[Free Press] Something is rotten in the state of Britain. It was epitomized by a recent event at the Oxford Union, the 201-year-old debating society that is such a distinctive and admirable part of Oxford life. It was at the Union that, 40 years ago, I spoke as freely (and indeed as irresponsibly) as I ever have, discovering in the process that I was not cut out for politics. It was there that I saw great debaters of the past, present, and future.

But I never saw anything like the events of November 28.

The motion for debate was in itself a provocation:
Of course. And intentionally so. As probably was the one back in the day when Oxford men resolved not to fight for their country against the Nazis — university lads being dangerously sophomoric, self-righteous idiots…
"This House Believes Israel Is an Apartheid State Responsible for Genocide." But what was truly shocking was the conduct of the president of the Union, an Egyptian student named Ebrahim Osman-Mowafy, who appears to have abused his position by openly siding with those proposing the motion and treating the opposing speakers with contempt.

According to the broadcaster, Jonathan Sacerdoti, who was arguing for Israel’s side, Osman-Mowafy canceled the traditional pre-debate group photographs, but posed alone for private photos with the anti-Israel team. During the debate, the pro-Israel speakers were repeatedly heckled by the crowd. At one point, a young woman stood up and screamed at Sacerdoti: "Liar! Fuck you, the genocidal motherfucker!"
Unerzogen, say the Germans. Déclassé, the French. New money, sneer the English, as appropriate, or overbred. The Russians would say nekulturny, but nobody listens to them nowadays, even when they’re right.
Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of a senior Hamas leader who defected to Israel, who was arguing alongside Sacerdoti, was met with jeering derision and cries of "traitor" and "prostitute" (in Arabic). Yousef asked the audience to indicate by a show of hands how many of them would have reported prior knowledge of the October 7, 2023, atrocities to Israel. Not even a quarter of the crowd raised their hands.

For the other side, Miko Peled, an Israeli general’s son turned radical anti-Zionist, described the murders, rapes, and kidnappings of October 7 as "acts of heroism." The Palestinian poet Mohammed El-Kurd, who has equated Zionism with genocide, began his speech by announcing that there was "no room for debate" and ended it by walking out of the chamber. The motion passed by 278 in favor to 59 against.
Three cheers for the 59, though they may need eventually to find their careers in Donald Trump’s America or some other free country.
Reading reports of this shameful fiasco at my alma mater, I found myself wondering: Where are the Thought Police when you really need them? After all, the Oxford Union’s latest debate sounded a lot like one of those "noncrime hate incidents" that currently consume so much of the British police’s time.

'Muhammad' Now Most Popular Baby Name in England
[Newsmax] "Muhammad" became the most popular baby name for newborn males in England and Wales in 2023, according to a report from the United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics (ONS) released Thursday.

"Muhammad," the second most popular name in 2022, overtook "Noah" to become No. 1 a year later, followed by "Noah" and "Oliver." In 2023, 4,661 boys were named "Muhammad," an increase of 484 from 2022, according to the ONS.

The rising popularity of "Muhammad" is attributed to it religious significance, an ONS spokesperson told The National. Muhammad was the founder of Islam and is considered a central figure in the religion. The Muslim population in England and Wales more than doubled in 20 years, from 1.5 million in 2001 to 3.9 million in 2021, according to the ONS.

The original Hebrew is a variant on Joshua, as I recall, a very popular name here in America for the past two decades. Jesus is a common Spanish name, so there’s another precedent. And while the Jews don’t name their offspring God, Moses/Mo/Moshe has been on the list for boy babies for millennia — Maimonides is one of them. ;-)

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Gunman who killed UnitedHealthcare boss Brian Thompson a 'practised, seasoned, trained professional', says FBI expert
[SkyNews] The murder of a top healthcare boss has the hallmarks of a "practised, seasoned, trained professional killer", according to a former FBI special agent.

Terry Rankhorn told Kay Burley on Sky News Breakfast the footage of the shooting in New York City, which police are treating as a targeted hit, was "chilling".

UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson, 50, was ambushed at 6.45am local time on Wednesday as he walked to the company's annual investor conference at a Hilton in Midtown.

The attacker fired multiple times at Mr Thompson and continued despite the gun briefly jamming, according to police.

Shell casings, recovered from the scene, had the words "defend", "deny", and "depose" written on them according to Sky News' US partner, NBC News, which spoke to a senior New York City law enforcement official.

"What you can determine from his behaviour is this person is a practised, seasoned, trained professional killer," Mr Rankhorn said.

"He doesn't run up like an inexperienced, emotional but amateur killer... this person calmly walks out," he added.

"He paces his target. He draws his weapon. He takes careful aim and then fires at his target once. And then you can see the weapon malfunction.

"He calmly clears the malfunction, fires again, and advances on his target. This isn't some drug-addled murderer. This is a professional."

Security cameras also captured the gunman's escape on an e-bike into Central Park. Police used drones, helicopters and dogs in an intense search, but he has not been traced.

New York City Police Department (NYPD) commissioner Jessica Tisch said the shooting was no random act of violence, but a "premeditated, pre-planned, targeted attack", although the motive is unclear.

Police released images of the man, who wore a hooded jacket and a mask that concealed most of his face.

Mr Rankhorn shared his thoughts about the man's getaway: "He clearly had a preplanned escape route. This is someone who knows their craft. They're practised at it. And, it was an extremely effective and efficient assassination."

"The e-bike is actually a shockingly effective tool in New York City because of the traffic... they can weave in and out of traffic even if he was being pursued by a police-marked vehicle."

The murdered CEO had been receiving recent threats but hadn't been altering his travel routine, according to his wife Paulette Thompson.

The New York Post adds:
The NYPD is investigating the possible message — which appears to include the words “deny,” “depose” and “defend” — engraved on live rounds and shell casings left behind by the masked assassin after he shot Thompson, 50, several times at about 6:46 a.m. before fleeing, the sources said. The words are possible attacks on the health insurance industry, in which Thompson is one of the most powerful leaders — and strikingly similar to a 2010 book condemning the business.

“Delay, Deny, Defend” — two of the three words seemingly left — is sub-titled: “Why insurance companies don’t pay claims and what you can do about it.”

Police are looking at possible ties to the book, as well as more general references to the health industry, as a potential motive, sources told The Post.

The book’s author, Jay M. Feinman — a distinguished professor emeritus at Rutgers Law School — declined to comment Thursday morning.

The NYPD released a new photo of the hooded suspect standing in front of the counter at the Starbucks at West 56th Street and 6th Avenue, just minutes from the Hilton hotel where he gunned down Thompson, 50.

Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealth in April 2021. He joined the company in 2004. He was one of several senior executives at the company under investigation by the Department of Justice.

He then ran into an alleyway and hopped on an e-bike, which he rode north along Sixth Avenue into Central Park, where surveillance camera coverage is spotty, police said.

But the suspect may have made some major mistakes that could help investigators identify him.

He bought coffee, a water bottle and two PowerBars at a nearby Starbucks before the killing and tossed his bottle and coffee cup in a trash can — which cops dug out of the garbage and now have as evidence, according to sources.

And investigators also discovered a phone in an alleyway near the Hilton which they believe belongs to the killer, the sources said. Investigators have obtained a search warrant to comb through the contents of the phone.
The NY Post has also been liveblogging developments, and includes new photos of thr miscreant at the link:
The suspected killer who gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson came to New York City on an interstate Greyhound bus last month, police sources told The Post.

The suspect arrived at the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan back on Nov. 24 after it set off from Atlanta, Georgia, according to the sources. It wasn't immediately clear, though, where the cold-blooded gunman jumped on the bus. After setting foot in the Big Apple, he checked into the HI New York City Hostel on the Upper West Side before going to stake out the Hilton Hotel in Midtown where he ended up killing Thompson early Wednesday.

The gunman's whereabouts in the days leading up to the shooting are slowly being pieced together by cops as the citywide manhunt for the killer continued.

New footage emerged Thursday showing the suspect in the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson strolling out of a Manhattan subway station just 30 minutes before the fatal shooting. The suspected gunman -- accused of shooting the executive execution-style on a Midtown street -- was seen leaving what appears to be the 57th Street station around 6:15 a.m., in the newly-obtained surveillance video taken from a cigar store on Sixth Avenue.

The suspected gunman who shot and killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson had checked into an Upper West Side hostel using a fake New Jersey ID, law enforcement sources told The Post.

Minnesota police received a bomb threat at the home of slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson the same day he was shot and killed in the Big Apple, according to a new report. The Maple Grove City attorney received an email claiming there was a pipe bomb at Thompson’s home around 7 p.m. Wednesday, TMZ reports. Thompson was murdered in midtown Manhattan shortly before 7 a.m.
And from PJ Media:
The gunman's use of a Citibike was a telltale sign to investigators that he was not very sophisticated.

New York Times:

Between the creation of a Citi Bike account, connecting it to a credit card, undocking it, riding it around the city and docking it at a new location, every user creates many “streams of digital breadcrumbs” that can help Lyft, the company that operates Citi Bike, track the user’s location, and possibly their identity, Mr. Shmoys said.

Combined with the user’s phone data and location shared with cell towers, “It is amazing how much information is conveyed,” Mr. Shmoys said.

Thompson was one of several senior executives at United Healthcare whom the Justice Department was investigating for insider trading. Thompson, along with UnitedHealth Group chairman Stephen Helmsley, Chief People Officer Erin McSweeney, and Chief Accounting Officer Tom Roos, sold a combined $101.5 million in shares before the Justice Department investigation became known last February.

#1  Soap Box Alert - this guy is not a practised, seasoned, trained professional killer. He may be well trained (so is Todd Jarrett and Jerry Miculek) but that doesn't make them "professional killers". This EfBeye guy is a clown.

Pros don't;
--Leave a burner behind
--Leave DNA so close to the scene
--Shoot the target in the calf from less than 15 feet
--Use a suppressed weapon that requires you to rack the slide each time (though he did appear to anticipate that)
--Stay in a shared dorm room style place w/2 unknowns the night before the job

Now the shooter did a bunch of things right;
--Taking the bus and using a fake ID to rent a room at a hostel
--Maybe used that ID (or another) to buy the bus ticket (if even asked)
--Likely took a few buses enroute to further mask his travel and possibly transport the weapon w/o scrutiny.
--Fix the target in place and time
--Stage the e-bike for good mobility in NYC traffic

If they catch the shooter (I think they will), I'd bet this will be a personal grievance vs. a contract hit. Outside of the cartels, you could fill 2 school buses with all the legit contract killers in the US and have seats left over. The act is the easy part. Getting away is difficult.

Off Soap Box...

Britain
More than 1,600 arrested in county lines crackdown across England and Wales in 'intensification week'
[SkyNews] More than £3m of drugs, £2m of cash, 557 weapons and four XL bully dogs were seized in the week-long crackdown in England and Wales.

More than 1,600 people have been arrested in a county lines crackdown.

The policing minister joined an early hours raid in southeast London as forces across England and Wales took part in the "intensification week".

It resulted in 1,660 arrests, with 80-90% expected to be charged, as well as the closure of 261 county lines and the seizure of more than £3m of drugs, 557 weapons and four XL bully dogs.

However, police chiefs were concerned by the number of children involved in what the policing minister branded as "heartless gangs".

There was also an "unwelcome emergence" of synthetic opioids in the UK illegal drug market.

The crackdown lasted from 25 November to 2 December.

According to the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) there are around 5,500 to 6,500 county lines - the term used to describe drug dealing where mobile phones are used to supply drugs, typically from large cities to towns and rural areas, and often using children as runners.

Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson called county lines "one of the most violent and exploitative models of drug supply".

She added: "We are determined to stop these heartless gangs from luring young people into a life of crime."

The NPCC said it had "safeguarded" 1,434 people over the week, almost half of which were children, by referring them to specialist support and arresting people for modern slavery offences.

Commander Paul Brogden, NPCC lead for county lines, asked parents to be more aware of what their children were doing and to report their worries to the local police if they're concerned.

He also said there had been a "welcome shift" in the ages of children being drawn into county lines, with them "gradually getting higher".

While the appearance of the "synthetic opioids" was "unwelcome", Mr Brogden said it had not yet become "embedded" in the UK illegal drug market.

However, gangs were said to be "adapting to police tactics" with lines becoming "more localised".

More than £3m of class A and B drugs, including 5.2kg of crack cocaine, 6.1kg of heroine, 33.5kg of cocaine and around 19,000 cannabis plants, were seized over the raids.

Police also seized nearly £2m in cash.

One organised crime unit arrested three people at an American sweet and vape shop - seizing a large amount of amphetamine and diazepam.

Most of the weapons found were knives and bladed weapons, but police also recovered 75 firearms and 105 other weapons including nunchucks and hammers.

Police visited over 850 addresses that had been taken over by drug gangs in a process known as cuckooing.

Mentally ill Calif. school shooter shot at kids as ''countermeasure'' for US involvement in ''genocide of Palestinians'': note
[NYPOST] The mentally ill gunman who shot and maimed two kindergarteners at a small Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, school Wednesday wrote that he was deploying a ''countermeasure involving child executions'' in response to ''America's involvement with genocide and oppression of Paleostinians,'' in a twisted note he left behind.

The shooter who turned the gun on himself after opening fire in the playground of the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists was identified Thursday as Glenn Litton, a 56-year-old homeless man who was sprung from jail just two days before the shooting, according to police.

Litton, who was pronounced dead at the Oroville school, had a long history of mental health issues, alarming criminal behavior, and past stints in prison, Butte County officials said at a presser Thursday.

Cops believe his deranged writings — in which he called himself a lieutenant of ''the international alliance'' — stemmed from his compromised mental state.

''Countermeasure involving child executions has now been imposed at the Seventh Day Adventist school in CA, U.S. by the international alliance,'' he wrote in the disturbing note recovered by Sherlocks.

''I, Lieutenant Glenn Litton of the alliance carried out countermeasure in necessitated response to America's involvement with genocide and oppression of Paleostinians along with attacks towards Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea characterized those writings as delusions coming from his mental illness, saying he ''pulled information from various sources, and it all came together in his mind to create a reality that is false.''

The Conspiracy to Manipulate the Coal Market Was Pure Collusion Dressed Up As Climate Change Virtue
[EnergySecurityFreedom] Yesterday, I published the news release issued by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton regarding that lawsuit against BlackRock, State Street Corporation, and Vanguard Group (“BSV”) by a coalition of states. The BSV Gang of Three, it was asserted, had conspired to artificially constrict the market for coal through anticompetitive trade practices wearing of a cloak of climate virtue signaling. Since then, I’ve had an opportunity to dig into the lawsuit itself. It is a stunning example of pure collusion and it lays open, for all to see, the corruption and rot at the heart of the entire climate con.

The background is this (emphasis added):

Among coal producers responsible for more than 5 million tons of coal in 2022, eight are publicly held: Peabody Energy; Arch Resources; NACCO Natural Resources; CONSOL Energy; Alpha Metallurgical Resources; Vistra; Hallador Energy Company; and Warrior Met Coal. These eight firms are responsible for approximately 46% of total domestic coal production and significant shares of the domestic production of thermal coal and, along with the Black Hills Corporation, of South Powder River Basin (“SPRB”) coal…Defendants are three of the largest investors in global coal production. As of February 15, 2022, BlackRock’s total investment in coal was $108.787 billion; Vanguard’s, $101.119 billion; and State Street’s, $35.736 billion.

Defendants, and their subsidiaries and affiliates, acting by and through the funds, trusts, and other investment vehicles that they manage and control, have acquired substantial shareholdings in, and have become the three largest shareholders of America’s publicly-held coal companies…

We all knew, well before the states filed their complaint, that the BSV Gang of Three was colluding to supposedly advance the energy transition to save the planet. Much of the press on the subject, especially from conservative news organs, focused on the political side of the story. It was that these three companies were trying to kill coal to make a market for the corporatist climate con while putting themselves at the top of the globalist food chain and power structure.

What we did not know was that they were also colluding to make huge money at the outset by cornering the coal market. That way they could unjustly profit off both sides of the climate debate; stealing from consumers of electricity at both ends. The extent to which they did this is absolutely staggering as the following excerpts from the complaint indicate:

IDF says it targeted Hezbollah rocket launcher in southern Lebanon with drone strike
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it carried out a drone strike against a Hezbollah rocket launcher that was spotted in southern Lebanon’s Majdal Zoun earlier today.

The launcher “posed a threat to the State of Israel while violating the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the military says.

Troops also demolished Hezbollah weapons found today in southern Lebanon’s Khiam, as-Sawana, and Aitaroun, the IDF says.

“The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon and acts against any threat that endangers the State of Israel,” the army adds.
More from the Times of Israel:
In recent days, Israel has tried to undercut Hezbollah’s ability to rebuild its military forces, striking several Hezbollah rocket launchers in Lebanon, bombing border crossings with Syria, and blocking an Iranian aircraft suspected of ferrying weapons for the group.

On Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said it had carried out a drone strike against a Hezbollah rocket launcher that was spotted in southern Lebanon’s Majdal Zoun.

The launcher “posed a threat to the State of Israel while violating the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the military said.

Troops also demolished Hezbollah weapons found Wednesday in southern Lebanon’s Khiam, as-Sawana and Aitaroun, the IDF said.

“The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon and acts against any threat that endangers the State of Israel,” the army added.
And this sweet little tidbit:
US Ambassador Lew cautions Israel against blowing issues out of proportion in trying to maintain the ceasefire with Hezbollah.

“Israel has made clear that it has to be able to defend itself, but they also have to act in a way that doesn’t take small things and turn them into big things,” Lew says.

Since the ceasefire came into effect last week, Israel has carried out a handful of strikes on southern Lebanon at what it has said were Hezbollah targets in violation of the deal’s terms. France and Lebanon have accused Israel of violating the ceasefire with these strikes.

Lebanon’s Hezbollah aims to rebuild longer term despite Israeli blows, US intel says
[IsraelTimes] Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel.
’s Hezbollah has been significantly degraded militarily by Israel, but the Iran-backed terror group will likely try to rebuild its stockpiles and forces and pose a long-term threat to the US and its regional allies, four sources briefed on updated US intelligence tell Rooters.

US intelligence agencies assessed in recent weeks that Hezbollah, even amid Israel’s military campaign, had begun to recruit new fighters and was trying to find ways to rearm through domestic production and by smuggling materials through Syria, says a senior US official, an Israeli official, and two US politicians briefed on the intelligence, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
It’s unclear to what extent those efforts have slowed since last week when Hezbollah and Israel reached a shaky ceasefire, two of the sources say. The deal specifically prohibits Hezbollah from procuring weapons or weapons parts.

US intelligence agencies assess that Hezbollah is operating with limited firepower. It has lost more than half its weapons stockpiles and thousands of fighters during the conflict with Israel, reducing Tehran’s overall military capacity to its lowest point in decades, according to the intelligence.

But Hezbollah has not been destroyed. It still maintains thousands of short-range rockets in Lebanon and will try to rebuild using weapons factories in neighboring countries with available transport routes, the sources say.

One of the politicians says Hezbollah has been "knocked back" in the short term and had its ability to conduct command and control reduced. But the politician adds: "This organization is designed to be disrupted."

US officials are concerned about Hezbollah’s access to Syria, where Syrian rebels recently launched an offensive to retake government strongholds in Aleppo and Hama. Hezbollah has long used Syria as a safe haven and transport hub, taking military equipment and weapons from Iraq, through Syria and into Lebanon through the rugged border crossings.

Washington is trying to pressure Syrian President Bashir al-Assad to limit Hezbollah’s operations, enlisting other countries in the region to help, a senior US official said. Rooters reported on Monday that the US and the United Arab Emirates have discussed possibly lifting sanctions on Assad if he peels himself away from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and cuts off weapons routes to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah officials have said the group will continue to function as a "resistance" against Israel, but its secretary general Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
has not brought up the group’s weapons in recent speeches, including after the ceasefire was reached. Sources in Lebanon say Hezbollah’s priority is rebuilding homes for its constituency after Israeli strikes destroyed swaths of Lebanon’s south and the southern suburbs of Beirut.

IDF said to warn dozens of soldiers against travel abroad over war crimes claims
[IsraelTimes] Military finds anti-Israel groups filed complaints against some 30 troops who served in Gaza Strip; officials concerned images posted to social media could be used as evidence

The Israel Defense Forces warned some 30 soldiers and officers who fought in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip to avoid traveling abroad after anti-Israel, pro-Paleostinian groups filed complaints against them for alleged war crimes, according to a Wednesday report.

In eight cases, soldiers who did travel abroad were immediately told to return over fears they would be arrested or questioned by the country they were visiting, the Ynet news site reported. The soldiers were visiting Cyprus, Slovenia, and the Netherlands.

The IDF does not bar soldiers from traveling abroad, but it does conduct a "risk assessment" for troops who served in Gaza before approving their request, the report said.

IDF reservists who fought in Gaza are being advised to first check with the Foreign Ministry regarding the level of danger in any country they wish to visit.

Officials are concerned that aside from local legal actions, some senior officers could face prosecution at the International Criminal Court, which last month issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes.

IDF sources told Ynet that there was a concern that individual processes against lower-ranking soldiers and officers traveling abroad could be based on the ruling of the Hague court and on evidence gathered from social media or media reports.

Soldiers have been identified from videos and images they posted online that were taken during their service in Gaza, even though from the start of the ground operation in the Strip the IDF instructed troops not to publish such images amid concerns the material could be used against them in war crimes proceedings.

Anti-Israel activists are carefully monitoring the social media accounts of soldiers who have posted such material in case they also publish images from trips abroad, at which point the activists plan to file local charges against them, Ynet reported.

Soldiers who are planning to travel abroad are being advised to not post any images that give away their location.

IDF legal experts have assessed that the ICC will not go after lower-ranking officers and soldiers who were carrying out the orders of the politicianship, the report said. In addition, the ICC is not likely to involve itself due to the principle of "complementarity," under which a democratic country such as Israel is trusted to prosecute criminal activity though its own judicial system.

However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
officials are concerned that senior commanders such as the IDF’s northern and southern command chiefs, or IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, could be targeted by the ICC, the report said, though no such moves have yet been seen.

Israel will give full support via its local diplomatic offices to any soldier who is arrested or detained for questioning, or who feels threatened by activists while abroad, IDF sources said.

The threat of legal action against soldiers could increase as the fighting in Gaza dwindles and access to the Strip is granted to humanitarian groups and foreign media. With that in mind, an inter-ministerial team has been put together, led by the justice and foreign ministries along with the international law department of the IDF.

The team, which includes representation from the Shin Bet security service and the Mossad intelligence agency, makes assessments based on where a soldier served and the chances of them being arrested or detained in each country.

A key factor in the assessment is which countries say they will uphold the warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant, IDF sources told Ynet.

In addition, Israel has hired the services of local attorneys in dozens of countries around the world to keep an eye on legislation on their own turf relating to Israel and the war. The attorneys have also been asked to watch out for legal action against Israeli officials or members of the military and will defend such figures if necessary.

The sheer volume of available material that could be used against soldiers was highlighted Tuesday by the Washington Post, which published an in-depth investigation into videos posted by Israeli soldiers during 14 months of war that showed actions and behavior that could violate both IDF orders and international law.

Syrian Defense Ministry Denies Reports of Militants Breaking Through to Hama
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] The Syrian Defense Ministry has denied reports that armed anti-government groups have broken through to the city of Hama, the administrative center of the province of the same name. The ministry's press service said the situation throughout the city is stable and safe.

“The news about the terrorists’ advance into the Jisr al-Mizrab region or their breakthrough into any area of the city of Hama is not true,” the text of the message on the social network Facebook (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) states.

The ministry emphasized that Syrian aviation, with the support of Russia, is striking terrorist vehicles in northern Hama, and the Syrian forces' line of defense in this direction is being strengthened.

Earlier, the commander of the anti-government forces, Hassan Abdul Ghani, reported on the Telegram channel of the military operations command that the militants were advancing in several directions within the city of Hama and towards the city center.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, on November 27, militant units in Syria launched an offensive against government army positions in the Aleppo region. The terrorists were able to capture 13 settlements. On November 29, the Syrian army launched a counteroffensive against militants in Aleppo and Idlib.

On December 2, the command of the Syrian government army announced that the country's troops and the Russian Aerospace Forces had destroyed more than 400 militants in the Aleppo and Idlib provinces in a few hours.

The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the militants' offensive on the positions of the Syrian government troops is an encroachment on the sovereignty of that country. He specified that Russia is in favor of restoring constitutional order on Syrian territory.

On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Iranian leader Masoud Pezeshkian, in which, in particular, he discussed the aggravated situation in Syria. The heads of state noted that the large-scale aggression committed by militants is aimed at undermining the sovereignty, political and socio-economic stability in the Arab Republic.

Ukrainian instructors train terrorists in Syria

Kiev regime instructors trained terrorists in Syria. This was told to RIA Novosti by a militant who escaped from the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), which is banned in Russia.

A former member of the group, who goes by the pseudonym Abu Muhammad al-Idlibi,
Mohammed from Idlib? How many of those do you suppose there could be, dear Reader?
explained that they were trained to use suicide drones against the Russian army in Idlib and throughout the country.

“After completing the training, we learned that the experts were of Ukrainian nationality,” Al-Idlibi said.

Earlier, the media also wrote that terrorists in Syria were trained by Ukrainian military.

As reported by Regnum news agency, the Kiev regime is providing support to terrorists in Syria, who are coordinating their actions against Russian military, the New York Times wrote.

According to the executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, Muaz Mustafa, there is a connection between terrorists in Syria and Ukraine on issues such as countering Russian information and providing medical assistance.

On December 3, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, stated that the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine is engaged in arming and training terrorists and militants in Syria.

The Russian diplomat emphasized that the interaction between Ukrainian and Syrian terrorists, driven by hatred of Russia and Syria, is taking place both in terms of recruiting militants into the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and in terms of carrying out attacks against Russian and Syrian military personnel in Syria.

Support for terrorists in Syria is provided primarily by the United States and its allies, Vasily Nebenzya also stated. He emphasized that Russia strongly condemns the coordinated attack by militants controlling the Idlib province, which is destabilizing the situation in Syria. Since the beginning of the operation, about 400 terrorists have been eliminated, more than 600 have been wounded, the diplomat stated.

Ukrainian Armed Forces may be preparing for a counteroffensive in the Zaporizhia region - Rogov
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Ukrainian military began demining their own mines in the Orekhov direction in the Zaporizhia region. This was reported on the air of " Solovyov LIVE" said Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on issues of sovereignty, patriotic projects and support for veterans.

The activist suggested that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, having begun demining on their side, may be preparing for a counteroffensive.

“Maybe they’ll try to stick their nose in and dig in somewhere,” Rogov commented on the actions of the Ukrainians.

In his opinion, Ukrainian units on the Zaporizhzhya front, not near the first line of defense, are behaving “at least strangely.”

Previously, war correspondents assumed that the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Zaporizhia region could be an attempt to realize Kyiv’s main dream of cutting off the land corridor to Crimea.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, at the end of November, fighting began in the Zaporozhye village of Belogorye, where Russian Armed Forces fighters entered, Rogov reported.

On November 22, a shootout occurred at a checkpoint in the Zaporizhia region after an attempt by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group to penetrate. The saboteurs, who were posing as refugees, were stopped for inspection at the checkpoint.

Russian Armed Forces fighters used drones to strike a Ukrainian Armed Forces column in Kiev-controlled territory in Zaporizhia Oblast, likely disrupting the rotation, Mykolaiv resistance coordinator Sergei Lebedev reported on November 29.

US General Hodges Calls on Kyiv to Mobilize Women and Refugees

Former commander of the US Army in Europe, General Ben Hodges, said that the draft age in Ukraine is “too high” and recommended mobilizing young people, women, and refugees, reports the publication “Strana.ua”.

The general, who lives in Germany, said the Ukrainian Armed Forces could do more to recruit women and Ukrainians who have left the country. He said he sees Ukrainian refugees everywhere and thinks it is “wrong.” Only those who cannot help Ukraine on the battlefield should be in Europe, Hodges said.

"Frankly, when I first heard a few years ago that Ukraine was not mobilizing its youth to fight Russia, I was surprised. In my opinion, the draft age in Ukraine is too high. In most countries in the world, you can enlist in the military at 18 or 19. Ukraine could use that opportunity, too," Hodges added.

As reported by Regnum news agency, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called on Ukrainians not to allow the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to sacrifice their children "to save his own skin."

The head of the council of reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Tymochko previously stated that in Ukraine from January 1, 2025, all men aged 18-25 will be required to undergo military training. This measure will first affect students, he emphasized.

In May, the Kiev regime tightened its mobilization measures. The new law allowed military commissariat employees to hand out summonses 24 hours a day and anywhere, and also allowed the conscription of certain categories of citizens who had previously been considered unfit for military service. In addition, the draft age was lowered from 27 to 25.

Security forces detain Hamas operative involved in deadly shooting attack in Jordan Valley
[IsraelTimes] Members of police’s elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit and the Shin Bet security agency detained this evening a Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
terrorist who was part of a cell that carried out a deadly shooting attack in the Jordan Valley in the summer, Israeli defense authorities say.

Ayman Ghanem was arrested by Israeli special forces who raided a hospital in the West Bank city of Nablus this evening.

According to the Shin Bet, police, and IDF, Ghanem was the third member of a Hamas cell that carried out a shooting attack on August 11 at the Mehola Junction on Route 90, the main north-south artery in the Jordan Valley, killing Yonatan Deutsch, 23, and wounding Anas Jaramana, 32.

Since the deadly attack, Ghanem continued to advance attacks as the head of a terror cell, and he posed a threat, Israeli authorities say.

Ghanem had been maimed in an Israeli dronezap yesterday near the West Bank village of Aqabah. The strike killed three other Hamas button men who the military said were planning "imminent attacks."

[IsraelTimes] Two adult defendants get jail time, while third person, who was 16 at time of attack, sentenced to 14 months in a juvenile center

A Swedish court on Thursday enjugged

three men for planting explosives outside an Israeli military technology firm in Gothenburg in June, the ruling said.

Two insulated flasks packed with plastic explosives were found outside the offices of Elbit Systems, known for its unmanned aerial systems, in Sweden’s second-largest city on June 4. The national bomb squad removed the objects and no damage or injuries were reported.

Two men aged 24 and 17 were convicted of placing the bombs outside the building. The first defendant was enjugged

for seven years while the latter, who was 16 at the time, was ordered to spend one year and two months in juvenile care.

The pair "together and intentionally handled two bombs containing 3.3 kilos (7.3 pounds) of explosives, without permission. It occurred at the place and time the prosecutor claimed," the Gothenburg district court wrote in its ruling.

The third suspect, aged 29, was found guilty of storing and handling the explosives in his home, but not of transporting them to his two accomplices as the prosecutor had claimed. jHe was sentenced to four years and seven months behind bars.

All three defendants, who had received orders from unidentified individuals to carry out the attack, had denied the charges.

The Swedish intelligence agency Sapo in late May accused Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
of recruiting members of Swedish criminal gangs to commit "acts of violence" against Israeli and other interests in Sweden, a claim Iran has denied.

Elbit Systems was also targeted in a shooting incident by a 15-year-old on October 10, which resulted in no injuries and the teenager’s arrest, according to Swedish media.

Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
war in October 2023 when the Paleostinian terror group attacked Israel killing 1,200 people, there have been several incidents targeting Israeli interests in Sweden.

The Israeli embassy in Stockholm was targeted in a shooting on October 1. Sapo later said Iran may have been involved.

In February, police found a grenade on the grounds of the embassy compound, which the ambassador called an attempted attack.

And in May, gunshots were fired outside the embassy, prompting the country to bolster security measures around Israeli interests and Jewish community institutions.

Prosecutor Rasmus Oman told public broadcaster SR on Thursday that several investigations involving shootings near the Israeli embassy have been closed due to lack of evidence. He said prosecutors had evidence against two 14-year-olds, but they could not be prosecuted as they were under the age of 15.

There have been protests at other office of Elbit in Europa

since the war started.

'Cooperate for the Sake of the Universe': Lavrov Gave Interview to Tucker Carlson
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA] Sergey Lavrov gave an 80-minute interview to American journalist Tucker Carlson. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry assessed relations between Moscow and Washington, commented on the test of the Oreshnik missile, and also explained why Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine.

On relations with the USA:

  • Russia sees no reason why Moscow and Washington cannot cooperate for the sake of the Universe;

  • Russia does not think about war with the USA and does not want it; such a war could be nuclear in nature; the main thing for Moscow is to avoid it;

  • Russia and the United States are not officially at war, what is happening in Ukraine is a hybrid war;

  • There are several channels of communication between Russia and the United States, but they are mainly used for the exchange of people serving sentences in both countries;

  • Donald Trump is a strong man, he is very friendly, but this does not mean that he is pro-Russian.

"We see no reason why Russia and the United States cannot cooperate for the sake of the Universe," Lavrov said.

On the risk of nuclear war:

  • The West’s statements about Moscow’s lack of “red lines” and their shifting are a very serious mistake;

  • Talk of a limited nuclear exchange is an invitation to disaster that Russia does not want.

"If they (American officials - Ed.) follow the logic that some Westerners have been voicing recently, that, they say, don't believe that Russia has 'red lines', yes, they have declared them, but these 'red lines' are shifting again, then this is a very serious mistake," the head of the MFA warned.

About the "Oreshnik" strike:

  • Moscow will be ready to use any means to prevent the West from inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Russia;

  • Russia does not want to aggravate the situation and hopes that its signal to the US in the form of the Oreshnik test was taken seriously;

  • Russia, having tested the Oreshnik, wanted to convey to the West that it would do everything to protect its interests;

  • Russia is ready to send additional "messages" to the West if they do not draw the necessary conclusions in light of the launch of Oreshnik;

  • The US knew about the launch of Oreshnik in advance and did not see anything truly dangerous in the test launch.

"We do not want to aggravate the situation. But since ATACMS and other long-range weapons are used on Russian territory, we are sending signals. We hope that the latest (a couple of weeks ago) from the new Oreshnik system was taken seriously," the minister noted.

About the special operation in Ukraine:

  • Russia would not have started the SVO if the West and Kyiv had complied with the Minsk agreements;

  • Moscow does not intend to destroy Ukrainians, they are brothers and sisters for the Russian people;

  • You shouldn’t think that Russia and the United States are deciding the Ukrainian issue for everyone; this is not Moscow’s style;

  • Russia hears changes in statements from Zelensky and the West on the conflict in Ukraine;

  • Zelensky is inadequate if he wants to bring back Russian speakers after his words about “special individuals”;

  • The West is covering up the breakdown of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev in the spring of 2022 with a provocation in Bucha;

  • Some capitals are tired of the Ukrainian conflict, and there is talk that the US wants to leave it to Europe;

  • Russia has realized that it is better to rely not on the lifting of sanctions, but on itself.

"When Ukraine and its sponsors launched plan B, trying to seize this (Eastern. - Ed.) part of Donbas by force, that's when we launched a special military operation. If they had fulfilled the Minsk agreements, Ukraine would have been a single whole," Lavrov explained.

On the escalation of the situation in Syria:

  • The US, Britain and other countries, according to open information, support Islamist groups in Syria - it's a complicated game;

  • Russia wants to discuss with Turkey and Iran how to cut off the channels of financing and arming Islamist groups in Syria.

"We would like to discuss the need to return to strict implementation of the Idlib agreements, because the Idlib de-escalation zone became the place from which the terrorists moved to capture Aleppo," the minister said.

Trial in case of murder of war correspondent Russell Bentley begins in Donetsk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The trial of the murder of Sputnik agency war correspondent Russell Bentley, known by the call sign Texas, has begun in the Donetsk Garrison Military Court.

In April, the war correspondent disappeared in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and was put on the wanted list. It was later revealed that Tejas was killed by Russian fighters.

"The defendants, building their defense, point out that on April 8, as a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike, several of their comrades were killed. Therefore, having noticed an American at the scene of the emergency, they took him for a gunner working for the enemy," the Lenta.ru article states.

Bentley came to Donbass in 2014 and joined the militia, after which he fought as part of the Vostok battalion and took part in the battles for the Donetsk airport. Texas said that he was impressed by the courage and fortitude of the Donbass residents who resisted the Ukrainian militants. He was also actively involved in volunteer activities and was awarded DPR awards. In March 2022, the American announced that he had raised $100,000 to help the residents of Donbass who suffered from Kiev's aggression.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Dmitry Kiselev, CEO of the media group Russia Today, announced on May 6 that it was necessary to investigate the murder of Texas and punish those responsible. The Telegram channel Operation Z: War Correspondents of the Russian Spring later clarified that the suspects in the murder "wear shoulder straps," they have been detained and are giving confessions.

On September 20, the Investigative Committee completed the preliminary investigation into the criminal case of Bentley's murder. Head of the Department for Interaction with the Media Svetlana Petrenko clarified that the investigation was conducted against Russian servicemen Vitaly Vansyatsky, Vladislav Agaltsev, Vladimir Bazhin and Andrei Iordan. Depending on the role of each, they are accused of group abuse of power, use of violence and torture that resulted in the death of the victim, as well as concealment of a particularly serious crime by moving remains.

Science & Technology
US ERIS program

[ColonelCassad] How DARPA in the US is promoting a structure that accelerates the implementation of technological innovations and reduces administrative friction.

DARPA launches ERIS: a new front in the race for technological innovations

In the modern world, the speed of innovation is becoming a key factor in technological and economic development. Russia needs to reconsider its approaches to working with innovation projects, especially in strategically important areas. DARPA's experience shows that creating effective mechanisms for the rapid selection, evaluation and implementation of new technologies can significantly accelerate the process of innovative development. A good example of this approach is DARPA's new initiative, which demonstrates how to optimize the path from idea to implementation. Let's take a closer look at this program to understand what lessons Russia can learn to improve its own innovation ecosystem.

DARPA is launching a new initiative called Expedited Research Implementation Series (ERIS) - a long-term open competition for innovative technological solutions. This project is a digital platform where companies, universities and individual developers can present their technologies in the format of strictly regulated video presentations.

To participate in the program, you must prepare a video that meets the following technical requirements:

• Duration no more than 7 minutes.

• HD resolution 1920x1080.

• Maximum file size — 5 GB.

• Video format —.mp4.

Applications will be accepted monthly from December 2024 to May 2025. Submission is carried out through a specialized portal DARPAConnect, where participants must fill out a detailed form consisting of 15 required fields. This helps structure and simplify the process of submitting materials.

The project is aimed at solving three key tasks:

1. Accelerating technology assessment: creating a single platform for the rapid analysis and selection of promising solutions.

2. Reducing barriers to participation: attracting small businesses and non-traditional contractors, previously rarely involved in defense projects.

3. Ensuring a full development cycle: from the inception of an idea to research, prototyping and testing.

DARPA focused on the following priority areas:

• Detecting and tracking hidden objects in air, ground, and space.

• Developing innovative sensor systems.

• Creating advanced antenna technologies with improved characteristics.

Submitted projects are assessed by an independent panel of experts, including representatives from the public sector, industry and academia. The assessment is carried out using a special methodology, providing detailed feedback to participants. If a project does not pass the selection, developers can refine the solution and re-submit it.

ERIS offers a new approach to implementing innovations in the defense sector. Key benefits include:

• Transparency of the selection process.

• Rapid assessment - no more than 30 days per cycle.

• Flexibility of contract terms, including intellectual property rights.

• Openness to different types of organizations, including small businesses and non-traditional contractors.

Using such an approach, Russia could significantly speed up the innovation cycle, optimizing the entire process from the inception of an idea to the creation of a prototype and the implementation of technology. By focusing on specific strategic areas, it is possible to achieve a breakthrough in key areas, ensuring the targeted development of critical technologies.

The topic is relevant, especially if we remember that some technological solutions were only put into action after the start of the SVO, when life itself forced us to reduce bureaucracy and more actively implement new technologies, including projects from the national defense industry.

Europe
Majdanek and the New Normal
Direct Translation via Google Translate. edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of darkzotovland

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics..

[ColonelCassad] In the neighboring barracks there is a warehouse of half-rotted shoes of dead prisoners from many countries: fashionable women's shoes, children's boots, patent leather ankle boots of city dandies, winter boots. Visitors freeze in front of them, unable to utter a word, women often have hysterics. Now the exhibition has been reduced - in 2010, one of the barracks burned down for unknown reasons (including suspected arson), and 7,000 pairs of shoes were lost in the fire.

Even I, with my experience, feel uneasy in the barracks, where light bulbs glow, wrapped in balls of barbed wire, and a prayer is heard - people in all the languages of Europe ask for their lives to be spared. I wait for the prayer in Russian, listen to it, and go out - I need to catch my breath. After standing in the fresh air for a while, I continue along the path.

"They will say - this was a resort"

... Everywhere there are endless strings of barbed wire. In two rows, at one time it was electrified, and people threw themselves at the fence, wanting to end their suffering. SS guard towers made of wood blackened by time. And a crematorium, into whose ovens the ashes of the prisoners burned inside were eaten away. There are always fresh flowers at the memorial inside the crematorium, and it is there that mandatory school excursions are taken.

I have seen different reactions in various museums on the site of SS concentration camps - from laughter (yes, there was such a thing) to tears. Here - indifference. Children are not interested in why they were brought here, and what they are trying to show. At the Nuremberg Trials, they named figures - 1.5 million people passed through Majdanek, 360,000 of them died. Since 1991, such documents have been declared "Soviet propaganda", and the number of victims was first reduced to 200,000, then to 100,000.

In 2017, new data was announced - 80,000, and now - 78,000. These, they say, are prisoners whose names are listed in the archives of the Reich. Evidence that many prisoners were brought to Majdanek without passports and killed on the same day is no longer an argument for historians of a Poland free from socialism.

"Every year the number of victims is reduced," journalist Maciej Wisniewski is indignant. "It will come to the point that they will announce that Majdanek was a resort with mineral baths, people were treated here, not killed. It is shameful and monstrous to look at the outright lie, the distortion of history."

…After the liberation of Majdanek, the Red Army found boxes of human ashes in the concentration camp – the SS guards were preparing them for disposal. The ashes were buried in a huge mausoleum built next to the crematorium, where the ashes of thousands of people were placed.

The phrase “Our fate is a reminder to you” is inscribed on the mausoleum. On August 28, 1944, the American Life magazine published a report from Majdanek, where the reporter first told about the crematorium, gas chambers and mass extermination of people. He also noted the merit of the Red Army, whose soldiers sacrificed their lives to stop the crimes of the Nazis.

In 1947, by decision of the Polish government, a museum was officially opened on the territory of the concentration camp and a monument was built. 80 years later, Americans are glorified in this place, afraid to mention the role of Soviet soldiers who stopped the furnaces of Majdanek.

But a third of those killed in Majdanek were Poles. It's getting ridiculous - the persistent hushing up of the topic of Soviet liberators makes tourists conclude that the death camp was liberated by "unknown well-wishers." Such behavior is disgusting, cowardly, and unworthy of adults. But apparently, in modern Poland it has long been considered the norm.

© Zotov

This is the new European norm. There is no need to be embarrassed anymore. They have already rewritten history for themselves.

IDF says it returned bodies of 2 Jordanian terrorists who infiltrated near Dead Sea in October
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it has returned the bodies of two Jordanian terrorists who infiltrated Israel in October back to Jordan overnight.

The gunmen, members of the Moslem Brüderbund in Jordan, breached the border in an area south of the Dead Sea, close to the border community of Neot HaKikar. They then opened fire at IDF troops, wounding two, before being shot dead, having managed to cross no more than a few meters into Israeli territory.
These are the two idiots who were caught while cutting through the barbed wire along the border, wearing Jordanian army uniforms and carrying hand guns, maps, and a Hebrew-Arabic conversation book.
Their bodies were returned too Jordan “in accordance with the directive of the political echelon,” the military adds.

Hamas buried Deif in secret site so Israel wouldn’t find body, use it as leverage in hostage talks — report
[IsraelTimes] The Kan public broadcaster reports that Hamas managed to locate the body of its military chief Muhammad Deif after he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in July.

Deif was then buried in a secret location, Kan says, explaining that the terror group feared that Israel would try to retrieve his body and use it as leverage in the ongoing hostage negotiations.

Hamas has yet to confirm publicly Deif’s death.

Trump taps businessman and former Abraham Accords negotiator as hostage point-man, and more noms
[IsraelTimes] Adam Boehler, who also helped lead talks with the Taliban during Trump’s first term, previously suggested a US military operation to rescue American hostages held by Hamas

US President-elect Donald Trump said Wednesday he would appoint Adam Boehler, one of the lead negotiators of the Abraham Accords, as special presidential envoy for hostage affairs.

In a post on his social network Truth Social, Trump said Boehler “has negotiated with some of the toughest people in the World, including the Taliban, but Adam knows that NO ONE is tougher than the United States of America, at least when President Trump is its Leader,” adding, “Adam will work tirelessly to bring our Great American Citizens HOME.”

The announcement came two days after the president-elect warned there would be “all hell to pay” for those holding hostages if they weren’t released by the time he enters office on January 20, with Gaza terrorists continuing to hold 100 hostages, living and dead — including seven Americans, three of whom may be alive.

Boehler currently serves as CEO of the healthcare investment firm Rubicon Founders, and is a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

During Trump’s first term, he helped to lead US talks with the Taliban, as well as negotiations between Israel and several Muslim nations that resulted in the Abraham Accords normalization agreements.

He also served as CEO of the newly created US International Development Finance Corp, and was involved in the administration’s response to the Covid pandemic. In college, he was briefly roommates with Jared Kushner, the president-elect’s son-in-law, who also led negotiations on the Abraham Accords.

In recent months, Boehler has criticized the Biden administration for its approach to the ongoing hostage issue in Gaza, and has floated the idea of a US military operation to rescue the American citizens that Hamas still holds captive in the enclave.

Asked in a radio interview last week about the ongoing war, Boehler said that “the next step for Israel, and for the United States, is to make sure that we get the hostages back,” and called for the elimination of Iran’s nuclear facilities as well.
More nominations per the Populist Times:
Daniel Driscoll of North Carolina has been tapped by Trump to serve as the next Secretary of the Army. He is a venture capitalist and Army veteran. Mr. Driscoll served in the 10th Mountain Division and deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has also served as Senior Advisor to Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.

Returning to the Trump Administration is Peter Navarro, who will take his old position of Trade Advisor. Navarro recently served four months in federal prison for a misdemeanor contempt of Congress charge.

Rounding out this batch of nominations is Jared Isaacman, a billionaire philanthropist and an associate of Elon Musk. Trump has selected Isaacman to head the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). is a private astronaut and piloted the SpaceX Polaris mission, the first private-sector manned space flight.
And from Red State:
Trump continues to name appointments to his incoming administration at a record pace. On Wednesday afternoon, he named former Fox anchor, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs during Trump’s first term, and New York Times bestselling author Monica Crowley to the role of Assistant Secretary of State. According to a Trump-Vance transition team email, Crowley will oversee many important international events, including the Olympics:

Trump names former PayPal COO David Sacks as White House ‘AI and crypto czar’
[IsraelTimes] The wealthy tech entrepreneur will take on a newly created role advising the Trump administration on cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.

“David will guide policy for the Administration in Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency, two areas critical to the future of American competitiveness,” Trump says in a social media post.

“He will safeguard Free Speech online and steer us away from Big Tech bias and censorship.”

Sacks will also lead a presidential council of advisors on science and technology, according to Trump.

Government Corruption
Thomson Ga. Democrats and Power Elites lose, Mayor wins
Back in August 2024.

The NEW Mayor of Thomson, Ga. called for a Financial Audit.
That’s Benjamin Cary Cranford, 52, whose story is in the Rantburg archives.
While in a meeting regarding 2 police officers, well documented issues. The GBI came in and arrested him, halting the meeting and the audits.

It seems certain persons of the former forever in office mayor and the county legal system wanted him gone, to halt the probes and audits.

So they arranged for the new Mayor's political arrest using fabricated evidence. Evidence, that it seems the County DA office did not question to any normal degree.

Ga Gov. Kemp suspended the Mayor and the temp mayor seemed a better fit for the local power brokers.

A few months later, the case finally made it to court. The jury heard the case and the Mayor was quickly found innocent of all charges.

Jurors interviewed exiting the courthouse were abundantly clear.
Everything in the DA's case stunk to political high heaven.
Basic evidence was never collected, and only verbal stated.
Several guessed, because it was assumed to be a slam dunk due to those pushing the case.

The Question many jurors had with the case was:
Why was the GBI following the Mayor around to begin with?
The Thomson police chief called them in, according to comments in our archives.
Yahoo’s report concurs.

The Outlines of US Military Reform Under Trump
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of thehegemonist

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Hoffmann+ reported on the Trumpists' plans to reform the US intelligence community, as outlined in Project 2025. In this collection, the chapter on the Pentagon's new policy was written by Colonel Christopher Miller, Acting Secretary of Defense during Donald Trump's first presidency. Miller is a native of the US Army Special Forces, or "Green Berets."

His plan involves strengthening all branches of the US Armed Forces:

THE ARMY.
An increase in the number of 50 thousand people, 6 priority modernization programs:
long-range precision fire weapons,
next-generation combat vehicles NGCV (Next Generation Combat Vehicle),
advanced army helicopters FVL (Future Vertical Lift),
automated combat management system C3N (Command, Control, Communications, and Network),
air defense systems MS (Missiles and Space),
small arms and wearable devices SL (Soldier Lethality)

NAVY.
Increasing the fleet's list to more than 355 ships,
accelerating the procurement procedure for ammunition,
prioritizing the development of unmanned vehicles,
as well as intercontinental sea-based missiles

MARINE CORPS (MCM).
Implementation of the Marine Corps Force Design 2030 modernization plan,
procurement of additional M142 HIMARS,
UAVs, and counter-UAV systems,
decommissioning of the Air Force's M777 towed 155mm howitzers.

Increased production of F-35 fighters and B-21 bombers,
implementation of the Next-Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program,
modernization of military transport aviation and air refueling capabilities,
procurement of a large number of medium-range air weapons,
doubling the fleet of EA-37B electronic warfare aircraft

SPACE FORCE.
Strengthening offensive potential and control over space, including near-lunar space

In addition, Trump spoke in favor of a new missile defense system that will cover the United States, as well as modernizing and increasing the country's nuclear arsenal.

(c) A. Hoffmann

As you can see, all the desires are aimed at maintaining global military dominance, which the United States is not going to voluntarily give up, which will lead to an increase in the number of local wars and conflict in the short and medium term.

Cyber
FBI issues grave warning to all iPhone and Android users: stop sending [clear] texts
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The FBI has issued a warning to Americans about sending regular text messages between Androids and iPhones.

The agency revealed that exchanges between the two brands leave messages vulnerable to hackers.

Instead, users are advised to use secure, encrypted messaging and phone calls on apps like WhatsApp to prevent third parties from accessing conversations.
"Please use only FBI-approved apps (which we have already back-doored)"
The warning comes as Chinese hackers have reportedly hacked several US networks that are 'ongoing and likely larger in scale than previously understood.'

Dubbed Salt Typhoon, the cyberespionage campaign surfaced this year when hackers attacked networks of several telecommunications companies.

The hackers used their access to target the metadata of a large number of customers, including information on the dates, times and recipients of calls and texts.

They also succeeded in retrieving the actual audio files of calls and content from texts from a much smaller number of victims.

Despite months of investigation, the true scale of China's operation, including the total number of victims or whether the hackers still have some access to information, is currently unknown.

Jeff Greene, CISA's executive assistant director for cybersecurity, issued the stark warning Tuesday, urging Americans to be vigilant amid the hacking campaign.

He told Politico that people should 'use your encrypted communications where you have it,' adding that 'we definitely need to do that, kind of look at what it means long-term, how we secure our networks.'

Encrypted apps protect user's data by transforming their phone calls and text messages into an unreadable format to prevent dangerous parties from gaining unauthorized access.

'Our suggestion, what we have told folks internally, is not new here: encryption is your friend, whether it's on text messaging or if you have the capacity to use encrypted voice communication,' Greene told NBC News.

'Even if the adversary is able to intercept the data, if it is encrypted, it will make it impossible.'

Several recent high-profile hacking incidents have been linked to China and what officials say is Beijing's effort to steal technical and government secrets while also gaining access to critical infrastructure such as the electrical grid.

In September, the FBI announced that it had disrupted a vast Chinese hacking operation that involved the installation of malicious software on more than 200,000 consumer devices, including cameras, video recorders and home and office routers.

The devices were then used to create a massive network of infected computers, or botnet, that could then be used to carry out other cyber crimes.

In October, officials said hackers linked to China targeted the phones of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, along with people associated with Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.

China has rejected accusations from US officials that it engages in cyberespionage directed against Americans.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for China's embassy in Washington called the U.S. allegations 'disinformation.'

China's government 'firmly opposes and combats all kinds of cyber attacks,' spokesperson Liu Pengyu wrote in a statement emailed to The Associated Press. 'The US needs to stop its own cyberattacks against other countries and refrain from using cyber security to smear and slander China.'

Isolated Hamas faces collapsing negotiating stance after drastic Trump threat
[IsraelTimes] Terror group pinned hopes of salvation on the Iranian axis and world pressure on Israel, but now has just a few weeks until an unpredictable and angry US president returns

Earlier this week, two days after Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
released a propaganda video showing American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander pleading with Donald Trump
...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania...
to secure his release, the American president-elect typed out a message that was sure to make the terror group and its backers in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
take notice.

"Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violent mostly peacefully, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire world, in the Middle East — but it’s all talk and no action!" Trump wrote Monday on his Truth Social platform, without mentioning Israel or the Paleostinian terror group by name.

"Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity," he continued.

The message was posted by a famously voluble leader, but it should not be underestimated.

It comes at the worst possible time for Hamas, and could be what is needed to finally break the terror group’s unwillingness to recognize the weakness of its position in hostage talks.

SINWAR’S THREE BETS
For much of the duration of war that erupted on October 7, 2023, Hamas — under the guidance of the late Yahya Sinwar — believed its bargaining position was only improving with time. Once its leaders recognized they had withstood the height of Israel’s military offensive in early 2024, Hamas staked its hopes on three developments.

First, Sinwar and his senior aides hoped throughout that the expansion of the conflict with Hezbollah and Iran would force Israel to sue for a ceasefire in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
in order to avoid a multifront war that would exact too high a toll on its soldiers and home front.

Second, they also believed that international pressure — from the US and Western allies, the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
and bodies like the international courts in The Hague — would force Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a hostage deal that would leave Hamas standing in Gaza, and in a position to rebuild both its grip on the territory and its military force.

"We have the Israelis right where we want them," Sinwar told other Hamas leaders, according to a June report in The Wall Street Journal. The higher the civilian corpse count in Gaza, the more pressure would be put on Israel, he said.

Government hostage point-man Gal Hirsch argued in a recent speech that there was a "direct and immediate connection between pressure on Israel and Hamas’s appetite for negotiations."

"Hamas identifies every ’daylight,’ every sliver of light, and whenever it identifies ideas like ’we won’t give you ammunition,’ arms embargoes, removing reservations about the ICC [cases], this doesn’t help us to reach hostage deal," Hirsch said at Reichman University.

As for the third factor, Sinwar, a close observer of Israeli politics, had certainly noticed the growing domestic anger at Netanyahu as the months passed. Protests by hostages’ families and their allies merged with anti-Netanyahu demonstrations, and a growing number of Israelis were calling for an end to the war without Hamas routed — if it meant the hostages would come home.

Shortly before his death in mid-October, Sinwar told Hamas’s leadership that a long war against Israel was beneficial. "The longer it lasts, the closer we get to liberation," senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan recounted Sinwar saying.

Sinwar is now dead, but those making decisions in his place did not immediately seem willing to make any major concessions, either — at least not until recent developments knocked the pillars out from under Hamas’s position.

TABLES TURNING
When Hezbollah began assaulting Israel to support Hamas in October 2023, it vowed to continue to do so as long as the war in Gaza continued. This past September, Jerusalem reached the limit of its patience and launched a massive offensive against the group. After being hammered by Israel via air, ground, and pager, the maimed terror militia last week threw in the towel without a ceasefire in Gaza, abandoning its previous position and leaving Hamas in the lurch.

And though Iran’s willingness to strike Israel directly with ballistic missiles twice in the past year was sure to raise Hamas’s hopes of salvation, Tehran has so far not made good on its promise to strike a third time. And with the Bashir al-Assad regime in Syria under new military pressure from rebels, the Islamic Theocratic Republic appears to have its hands full trying to avoid losing another key member of its axis.

Following Trump’s victory in the US elections, international pressure on Israel is likely to wane, with Netanyahu expecting a more reliable veto in the United Nations Security Council, a quicker flow of key weapons and intense pressure on the International Criminal Court as it goes after the Israeli leadership.

Domestic opposition to Netanyahu isn’t going to push him to a deal either. Firing defense minister Yoav Gallant removed the chief internal advocate of an urgent deal, and bringing in Gideon Sa’ar’s New Hope party stabilized the coalition.

Perhaps, over time, the protest movement’s pressure on Netanyahu, with its carefully chosen slogan of "Bring them home now!" could have gained enough traction in the public.

But Hamas no longer has time on its side.

THE PRESSURE IS ON
In a little over six weeks, Trump’s deadline will arrive. His slogan, which puts the onus squarely on Hamas, seems to be "Release them now!"

It’s not clear what Trump might do to back up his threat, but his disdain for norms makes his ultimatum credible in the region. He could make Iran pay for Hamas’s intransigence through sanctions, strikes on oil and gas sites, or even attacks on Revolutionary Guards forces and Shia militias outside Iran.

Trump is unlikely to order strikes against Hamas itself in Gaza, where Israel is handling the fighting. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
he could see to it that Hamas leaders abroad have no comfortable home in the region, and could provide Israel with the means to target them as they flee The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
and other countries they’ve called home in recent years.

And, of course, he could give Israel the green light to carry out new, stepped-up raids in Gaza, with less concern for humanitarian aid reaching civilians.

Netanyahu on Tuesday unsurprisingly hailed Trump’s "very strong statement," noting that the US president-elect had made it clear "that there is one party responsible for this situation — and that is Hamas. Hamas must release the hostages." Trump, said an appreciative Netanyahu, "put the emphasis in the right place — on Hamas, and not on the Israeli government, as is customary in some places."

Apparent cracks in Hamas’s resolve have already been showing. Last week, The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported that the group was expressing increased flexibility in its demands.

Citing two people familiar with the terror group’s thinking, the report said leaders of the terror group have been discussing allowing Israel to maintain a temporary presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, the strategic border area between Egypt and Gaza where Netanyahu has insisted Israel must retain control.

According to the New York Times report, "reality started to sink in" for Hamas after Sinwar’s death in October, as it became clear that Iran was not looking to enter into direct conflict with Israel, and that Hezbollah was being hit hard by the IDF.

But even in Hamas’s new, perilous reality, the fundamental gulf separating Israel’s red lines from Hamas’s core demands remains. The terror group continues to insist that in any hostage-release deal, the IDF will end up fully withdrawing from Gaza, and Hamas leaders and operatives will remain in the Strip, poised to slowly rebuild themselves over time. Israel sees that outcome as a loss, letting the perpetrators of October 7 survive and threaten it once more.

Now, with Trump making his desires crystal clear, Hamas has a decision to make.

It could use the next few weeks to get the best deal it can, allowing Israel to retain a much-reduced troop presence in Gaza, which it hopes will disappear in time under domestic or international pressure, when other countries increasingly see IDF forces in Gaza as part of an occupation that stands in the way of the Strip’s reconstruction.

Or it can continue to hold on to the hostages and the hope that Netanyahu will eventually break, while it faces the unpredictable commander-in-chief of the world’s most powerful military — a man who famously doesn’t like being refused.

#1  Iran axis seems much weaker than a few months ago.

The IDF take down of Hezbollah and the Oct response to Iran have really changed things.

and, yes, also Trump

Syrian rebel leader appears in public for first time since launch of anti-regime offensive
[IsraelTimes] The leader of the Syrian jihadi rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) appears in public for the first time since the launch of the HTS-led offensive against the Syrian regime one week ago.

On Sunday, unverified reports in Arab media had claimed that Ahmed Hussein al-Shar’a, known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammad al-Julani, had been killed in a Russian airstrike.

Videos circulating today on Arab social media and news channels, including on Al Jazeera, show Al Julani making his way through a cheering crowd in Aleppo.

Al-Julani is wanted by the United States as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist, with a $10 million bounty on his head.

HTS, a former Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda once known as the Nusra Front, is designated a terrorist group by the US, Russia, Turkey and other states. The shock uprising led by the group has made rapid inroads in northwestern Syria, taking control of the Idlib province and Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city, and gradually approaching the city of Hama.
