Palestinians strike in East Jerusalem, West Bank, demanding end to war in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Shuttered storefronts line empty streets in East Jerusalem and the West Bank as Paleostinians hold a general strike demanding an end to the Israel-Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
"I walked through the city today and couldn’t find a single place that was open," Fadi Saadi, a shopkeeper in Bethlehem, tells AFP.

Shops, schools, and most public administrative offices are closed across the West Bank.

A coalition of Paleostinian political movements — including rivals Fatah and Hamas — called the strike to protest what they described as "the genocide and the ongoing massacre of our people."

It called for the strike "in all the occupied Paleostinian territories, in the refugee camps... and among those who support our cause."

"We close today because of our families in Gaza, our children in Gaza," Imad Salman, 68, who owns a souvenir shop in Jerusalem’s Old City, says.

"In Jerusalem, in the West Bank, we can’t do anything more than we’re doing here now," he tells AFP.

In East Jerusalem, the usually bustling commercial Salaheddin Street is empty.

"This strike is in solidarity with Gaza and what is happening there, and the war being waged against the Paleostinian people, whether by (US President Donald) Trump, (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu, the Israeli government, or the American government," Ahmed, who did not give his surname, says.

"This war must stop, the killing and destruction must stop, and only peace should prevail — peace, and nothing but peace."

“Eeewwwww! Joooos are icky! I don’t want to catch his Joooo cooties!”
The Foreign Ministry condemns Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Youssouf from Djibouti, saying, "It is outrageous that at an event commemorating the victims of the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda, to which the Israeli ambassador in Addis Ababa was invited, [Youssouf] chose to introduce anti-Israel political elements."

"This unacceptable conduct first and foremost dishonors the memory of the victims, and reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the histories of both the Rwandan and Jewish peoples," continues the Foreign Ministry.

Neguise, a former Likud politician, has served as ambassador to Æthiopia since August 2024. He attended the annual conference, entitled "Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda," at the Nelson Mandela Hall at the African Union Headquarters in the country’s capital.

Europe
Dutch tighten controls on military and dual use exports to Israel
[IsraelTimes] The Dutch government says it had tightened export controls for all military and “dual use” goods destined for Israel.

All direct exports and the transit of these goods to Israel will be checked to see if they comply with European regulations, and will no longer be covered by general export licenses, the government says in a letter to parliament.

“This is desirable considering the security situation in Israel, the Palestinian territories and the wider region,” foreign minister Caspar Veldkamp and trade minister Reinette Klever write.

“Exporters will still be able to request permits, that will then be checked against European regulations.”

The government says no military goods for Israel had been exported from the Netherlands under a general permit since the start of the war in Gaza that began after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught.

It said that the general license for the export of “low risk information security goods,” such as routers for network security, was frequently used for export to Israel.

It estimated that between 50 and 100 permits for the export of those goods would now have to be requested on an individual basis.

A Dutch court last year ordered the government to block all exports of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel over concerns they were being used to violate international law during the war in Gaza. Israel denies violating international law.

Thousands protest in Tel Aviv for hostage deal, against government
[IsraelTimes] Thousands of people are protesting in Hostages Square in Tel Aviv as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

The demonstrators are calling on the government to reach a deal to bring home all the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

“How can you sleep at night when you are abandoning them?” asks former hostage Ilana Gritzewsky.

“The State of Israel has to put forward an initiative on the table to return all the hostages in one go, not in stages, not in groups,” she says. “We want everybody now.”

Protesters are also demonstrating against Netanyahu and his government.

Now, Hamas and Iran see political pressure being applied by the Israeli voting citizens. Thereby placing the Israeli officials in a weaken dealing position.

The protesters may have actually screwed up the whole process and allowing Hamas to demand GREATER Prisoner releases ratios, thus strengthening the Terrorist depleted numbers with new revenge seeking recruits.

Israel said worried as Abraham Accords partner Sudan grows closer to Iran
[IsraelTimes] Source close to military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan say he wanted weapons from Israel to beat rival in civil war, but when they weren’t offered, turned to Tehran instead

Israel is concerned that Abraham Accords partner Sudan

It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. is growing close to Iran, as it looks for assistance amid the civil war that has roiled the country since 2023, the Kan public broadcaster reported Sunday.

Sudan’s military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan renewed diplomatic ties with Iran

in July 2024, after they were severed in 2016. Since then, Kan reported, al-Burhan has received military assistance from Tehran as his army battles the Rapid Support Forces.

The report asserted that al-Burhan turned to Iran after growing disappointed in Israel’s failure to come to his aid with military support as he had envisioned.

While al-Burhan wasn’t looking specifically for assistance from Tehran, a source close to the Sudanese ruler told Kan that "Sudan is forced to cooperate with any party interested in supplying it with weapons.

"There is currently a great opportunity for anyone who wants to help Sudan, publicly and secretly," the source said, adding that the north African country would have expected to receive such assistance from Israel, as it could have led to "a real breakthrough in relations."

But when the help from Jerusalem never materialized, the source said Sudan "was left without assistance and turned to Iran, which seized the opportunity after Sudan’s friends abandoned it."

"For the sake of Sudan’s interests, we would even make a deal with the devil," the source added.

In December last year, Bloomberg reported that Iran was supplying al-Burhan’s forces with drones. Iran has also supplied drones to Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine.

At the end of March, al-Burhan was able to capture the capital, Khartoum.

Sudan’s cooperation with Iran, which is avowed to Israel’s destruction, has worried Jerusalem, Kan reported without citing sources.

, then in his first term, announced in October 2020 that Sudan had agreed to normalize ties with Israel, the third Arab state to join the US-brokered deals begun in August of that year.

Economically crippled Sudan is believed to have agreed to normalization chiefly to enable it to be removed from the US list of state sponsors of terror and receive financial aid, and the country’s economic well-being is seen as critical to the deal’s success.

Iran at the time condemned the development, accusing Sudan of "paying a ransom" to get off the terror list.

The deal with Sudan was also to include aid and investment from Israel, particularly in technology and agriculture, along with further debt relief. At the time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would send $5 million worth of wheat to Sudan.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
ties did not develop much, and by 2023 Sudan descended into civil war.

The conflict stems from a long-standing power struggle over military control and integration. Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces began in the capital, Khartoum, and quickly spread across the country. International efforts to broker peace since then have largely failed.

The fighting has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian emergencies. Various foreign players — Chad, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Qatar

The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...

i’s foreign affairs adviser, told Rooters in response to queries about disarmament talks that the Iraqi prime minister was committed to ensuring all weapons in Iraq were under state control through "constructive dialogue with various national actors."

The two Iraqi security officials said Sudani was pressing for disarmament from all the militias of the Islamic Resistance® in Iraq, which declare their allegiance to Iran’s IRGC or Quds Force rather than to Baghdad.

Some groups have already largely evacuated their headquarters and reduced their presence in major cities including djinn-infested Mosul

and Anbar since mid-January for fear of being hit by air attacks, according to officials and commanders.

Many commanders have also stepped up their security measures in that time, changing their mobile phones, vehicles, and abodes more frequently, they said.

The US State Department said it continued to urge Baghdad to rein in the militias. "These forces must respond to Iraq’s commander-in-chief and not to Iran," it added.

An American official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, cautioned that there had been instances in the past when the militias had ceased their attacks because of US pressure, and was skeptical that any disarmament would be long-term.

The IRGC declined to comment on this article, while the Iranian and Israeli foreign ministries didn’t respond to queries.

SHAKEN: IRAN’S AXIS OF RESISTANCE
Shahbndar, the Shiite politician, said the Iraqi government had not yet finalized a deal with bully boy leaders, with a disarmament mechanism still under discussion.

Options being considered include turning the groups into political parties and integrating them into the Iraqi armed forces, he added.

While the fate of any disarmament process remains uncertain, the discussions nonetheless mark the first time the militias have been prepared to give ground to longstanding Western pressure to demilitarize.

The shift comes at a precarious time for Tehran’s regional "Axis of Resistance®," which it has established at great cost over decades to oppose Israel and US influence, but has seen severely weakened since Paleostinian terror group Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, tipped the Middle East into conflict.

in its dealings with the militias on its soil. The groups sprang up across the country with Iranian financial and military support in the chaotic wake of the 2003 US invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein, and have become formidable forces that can rival the national army in firepower.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told Prime Minister Sudani in a phone call on March 16, shortly after the American strikes on the Houthis began, to prevent the militias from carrying out Dire Revenge attacks on Israel and US bases in the region in support of their allies, according to two government officials and two security sources briefed on the exchange.

The Iraqi-based militias had launched dozens of drone and rocket attacks against Israel in solidarity with Hamas since the Gaza war began and killed three US soldiers in a drone operation in Jordan near the Syrian border last year, and two IDF soldiers were killed and 24 maimed in a separate drone attack on a base in Israel.

Ibrahim al-Sumaidaie, a former political adviser to Sudani, told Iraqi state TV that the United States had long pressed Iraq’s leadership to dismantle Shi’ite militias, but this time Washington might not take no for an answer.

"If we do not voluntarily comply, it may be forced upon us from the outside, and by force."

The discussions in Iraq come after a report by the Qatar

Iraq’s national security adviser said that authorities were actively searching for Tsurkov, a doctoral student at Princeton University and fellow at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy who is believed to have been held by Islamist Death Eaters since March 2023.

Israeli authorities have blamed the Iran-backed Iraqi terror group Kataeb Hezbollah, though no group has grabbed credit for her disappearance.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah rocket commander killed in south Lebanon drone strike, IDF says
[IsraelTimes] Israel says Muhammad Adnan Mansour was responsible for ‘numerous’ attacks on Upper Galilee; Lebanese president says terror group must be part of disarmament talks

An Israeli strike in southern Leb
...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
killed a Hezbollah commander responsible for several rocket attacks on northern Israel, the military said Monday.

The strike was the latest Israel Defense Forces raid on figures alleged by Jerusalem to be operatives or commanders in the Iran-backed terror group, as both Israel and Hezbollah accuse each other of violating a fragile truce in place since last year.

Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed that one person was killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Taybeh, which sits some 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the border.

The IDF said it targeted Muhammad Adnan Mansour in a dronezap, publishing footage from the air of a large explosion at the entrance to what appeared to be a two-story industrial building.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency said the strike hit "in front of a cycle of violence repair shop" in the town, in the Marjayoun district.

According to Israel, Mansour headed Hezbollah’s rocket unit in the Taybeh area.

"During the war, Muhammad directed and carried out numerous projectile attacks toward the Upper Galilee area," the IDF said.

On Sunday, hundreds of Hezbollah supporters gathered in Taybeh for a mass funeral for over a dozen of the group’s fighters killed in the war with Israel.

Also Sunday, the IDF said it carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah operatives who were trying to rebuild "terror infrastructure."

Lebanon’s health ministry confirmed that two people operating a bulldozer were killed in the strike on the town of Zibqin in the country’s south.

"We are continuing the campaign to strengthen the defenses, while showing initiative and offensive action," IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said at an assessment Sunday on the Lebanon border.

NNA also reported Israeli strikes on prefabricated homes in southern Lebanon’s Naqoura area on Sunday.

The truce deal agreed to in late November is based on a UN Security Council resolution that says Lebanese troops and UN peacekeepers should be the only forces in southern Lebanon, and calls for the disarmament of all non-state groups, chiefly Hezbollah, which has used the area as a base to launch attacks against Israel under Iran’s sponsorship.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Monday that the issue needed to be resolved "through communication and dialogue because in the end, Hezbollah is a Lebanese component."

He urged Washington to pressure Israel to withdraw from the five border points, saying the ongoing troop presence "complicates the situation."

Lebanon state media says two killed in Israeli strike on south

[IsraelTimes] Lebanese state media says an Israeli strike in Lebanon’s south killed two people, hours after the Israeli military said it killed a Hezbollah leader in an earlier strike.

“Two Syrians were killed on a motorcycle and one citizen was injured in an enemy strike on the Dardara road,” in Lebanon’s southern Marjayoun district, the official National News Agency says.

, Israel said Monday, accusing the man of being a member of the terror group operating under journalistic cover.

Hassan Eslaiah was maimed in the strike outside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, according to Alam24, the Paleostinian news agency he heads. Another journalist, Paleostine Today news hound Helmy al-Faqawi, was killed in the strike, according to the hospital, and at least five others were reported injured.

According to the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet security service, Eslaiah was a member of Hamas’s Khan Younis Brigade and was operating "under the guise of a journalist and owner of a press company."

Eslaiah, whose freelance photography was distributed around the world for the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, entered Israel during the October 7, 2023, massacre, photographing Gazooks, some of them armed, as they stormed Kibbutz Nir Oz, where a quarter of the population was slaughtered or kidnapped, including the elderly and children as young as nine months old.

He also took a picture of Gazooks atop a burning tank next to the destroyed Gaza border fence. A video from the scene posted to social media but since deleted showed him next to the tank, though no press credentials could be seen on him.

"During the massacre, he documented and uploaded footage of looting, arson, and murder to social media," the IDF said in a statement announcing the strike Monday.

Both the AP and CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
said in November 2023 that they had severed their relationship with Eslaiah after a pro-Israel watchdog raised questions about their work with the photographer and other journalists who entered Israel during the massacre.

His pictures from that day were removed from the News Agency that Dare Not be Named’s distribution feed, though others remain.

The agency has denied that Eslaiah and other Gazook journalists it worked with who entered Israel during the attack had any advance knowledge of the attack.

The report by the Honest Reporting monitoring group had also raised questions about Eslaiah’s relationship with Hamas, reproducing a since-deleted photo posted by him in 2020 showing the terror group’s chief, Yahya Sinwar, embracing him and kissing his cheek.

According to Paleostinian reports, the tent that was struck by Israel in the early morning strike was used by Gazook journalists as a makeshift press center.

In the hours following our expose, new material is still coming to light concerning Gazook freelance journalist Hassan Eslaiah whom both AP & CNN used on Oct. 7.

Footage showed people trying to douse flames in the tent following strike.

Rooters was able to verify the video from the position, layout and design of nearby buildings and tents. The date could be verified by media reports and corroborating videos.

One widely shared but unverified video appeared to show a journalist in flames as others tried to rescue him.

The military said it took steps to mitigate harm to civilians in the strike.

The Paleostinian Journalists Syndicate claimed that Faqawi was the 210th journalist killed by Israel since it began attacking Hamas in Gaza following the October 7 attack, in which Hamas-led murderous Moslems invaded southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 more; 59 hostages remain in Gaza, over half of whom are believed to have been killed.

Israel has repeatedly alleged that journalists killed in strikes were actually terror operatives who posed as news hounds; it maintains that Hamas uses hospitals, schools, shelters and aid infrastructure as cover for terror activities.

The Paleostinian Authority condemned Faqawi’s death as an act of "extra-judicial killing" aimed at scaring off news hounds and stopping media coverage.

Hamas-controlled health authorities in the Strip claimed at least 20 Gazooks were killed in Israeli strikes since Sunday night. The figure could not be confirmed.

In central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported that eight people were killed in strikes Monday.

There was no Israeli comment on the attacks, which came after the IDF warned civilians in the area to flee following the launch of 10 rockets from there into southern Israel, in the largest such barrage since fighting resumed last month following a two-month ceasefire that saw 33 hostages released.

A 30-year-old man was lightly injured by shrapnel in the attack, which also caused property damage in the southern city of Ashkelon.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had ordered the IDF to expand its renewed offensive against Hamas following the attack.

The IDF has stepped up its offensive in Gaza in recent days, saying it is ratcheting up pressure on Hamas to release the hostages and cede power.

The enclave’s Hamas-run health ministry, which does not differentiate between civilians and combatants in its unverified figures, has said that more than 1,000 Paleostinians have been killed since Israel resumed its offensive on March 18.

Palestinians say IDF building positions in newly captured areas of Gaza

[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops could be seen clearing ground and building watch towers in parts of Gaza they have seized in recent days in a renewed offensive that the United Nations says has already captured or depopulated two-thirds of the enclave.

The army has issued repeated evacuation warnings to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in southern, central and northern areas since it resumed operations in Gaza on March 18, forcing them into a diminishing space limited by the sea.

Zakia Sami, 60, a mother of six from Gaza City, says she could see tanks occupying the high ground as she fled her home after the army ordered the family out of the eastern suburb of Shejaiya.

Israel announced plans last week to seize a “security zone” around the edges of the Gaza Strip, a month after a ceasefire expired. It has not said what its long-term plan is for the recaptured territory.

Residents said there were increasing signs the military was digging in for an extended stay, building watchtowers in Shejaiya in the north and around the former Israeli settlement of Morag, between the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah in the south.

Footage circulating on social media showed a large crane protected by machine guns and security cameras near Morag as well as earthmoving equipment at work near Shejaiya.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel was establishing a corridor bisecting Gaza in the Morag area.

, the UAV force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting an Israeli military target in the occupied area of Jaffa (Tel Aviv) using a "Yaffa" drone, according to a statement announced by the military front man General Yahya Sare’e.

"In response to the ongoing US aggression against our country and the crimes against our people, our armed forces continue to target enemy warships in the Red Sea carrying out the aggression against our country," Sare’e’s statement added.

The naval forces and the air force carried out a joint military operation, targeting two US destroyers with several cruise missiles and drones.

"The crimes committed against our people and the targeting of civilian objects in several governorates confirm the enemy’s failure to achieve its goals," he maintained.

The Israeli view:
Israel intercepts Yemen drone

[IsraelTimes] A drone launched at Israel “from the east” was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force Monday evening, the military said.

According to the IDF, the drone was shot down before crossing into Israel, and therefore no sirens sounded, “according to protocol.”

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen quickly took responsibility for the attack, saying they launched a drone at Israel, claiming to have had their sights on a “military target” in the Tel Aviv area

The Houthis also claimed to have targeted two US destroyers in the Red Sea with several missiles and drones.

During US President Donald Trump’s Oval Office meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu Monday, Trump said the United States military campaign against the Houthis in Yemen has been “very successful militarily.”

“We’ve really damaged them,” he said, adding that “it’s every night, night after night, and we’ve gotten many of their leaders and their experts.”

“It’s been a bad three weeks for the Houthis,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth added, “and it’s about to get worse.”

He said the US has destroyed underground facilities, weapons manufacturing sites, bunkers, troops, and air defense assets.

“We are not going to relent,” said Hegseth, “and it’s only going to be more unrelenting until the Houthis declare they will stop shooting at our ships.”

He added that the US has been “very clear” to the Iranians that they must stop providing support for the Houthis.

Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis in Yemen have launched at least 10 ballistic missiles at Israel, resuming a campaign of bombardment they began in support of Gaza.

The missiles have all been intercepted by the air defenses, but they set off sirens that send millions of Israelis scrambling to shelters at all hours of the day and night. On Friday night, the IDF intercepted a drone that the Houthis later said was aimed at the Tel Aviv region.

At least four non-combatants were killed, and 25 others have been injured, including women and kiddies, in a preliminary toll of the US aggression targeting a house in the Shaab al-Hafa area in the Shu’ub district, northeast of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, the Health Ministry reported on Sunday.

In a statement, the ministry reiterated its condemnation of the continued targeting of civilians and civilian objects by the US enemy, calling it "a full-fledged war crime that violates all international norms and laws."

It held the United States, the international community, and international organizations responsible for the deliberate targeting of civilian facilities and citizens.

Report claims Houthi intelligence chief killed in US strike

[IsraelTimes] Saudi-based news site al-Hadath reports that US airstrikes in Yemen have killed Houthi intelligence chief Abdul Nasser Al-Kamali.

On Telegram, a spokesperson for the Iran-backed rebel group says US warplanes carried out eleven strikes in the rebel-held capital of Sa’ana and its surrounding areas overnight.

Nine more airstrikes are reported in the neighboring region of Mar’ib, deeper inside the Yemeni interior.

There is no confirmation of the report on Kamali’s killing.

There is also no comment on the reports from the US Central Command, which has offered few details about its operations against the Houthis since they were launched on March 15.

On Monday, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the military was set to step up its campaign against the group, speaking during a White House meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.

“We are not going to relent, and it’s only going to be more unrelenting until the Houthis declare they will stop shooting at our ships,” ” Hegseth said.

Fifth Column
2 Microsoft workers say they were fired for protest over provision of services to IDF
They mistakenly believed the equality they experienced on the internet translated to the workplace. Now they know better.
[IsraelTimes] Microsoft tells first employee who interrupted 50th anniversary celebration her actions were designed to ‘gain notoriety’; second protester, who already resigned, sacked right away

Microsoft has fired two employees who interrupted the company’s 50th-anniversary celebration to protest its work supplying artificial intelligence technology to the Israeli military, according to a group representing the workers.

Microsoft accused one of the workers in a termination letter Monday of misconduct "designed to gain notoriety and cause maximum disruption to this highly anticipated event." Microsoft says the other worker had already announced her resignation, but on Monday it ordered her to leave five days early.

The protests began Friday when Microsoft software engineer Ibtihal Aboussad walked up toward a stage where an executive was announcing new product features and a long-term vision for Microsoft’s AI ambitions.

"You claim that you care about using AI for good but Microsoft sells AI weapons to the Israeli military," Aboussad shouted at Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman. "Fifty-thousand people have died and Microsoft powers this genocide in our region," she said, referencing the corpse count in Gazoo

-run health ministry since the war began on October 7, 2023, which cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

The war erupted when Hamas-led bandidos turbans rampaged through southern Israel, murdering some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages to Gaza.

The protest forced Suleyman to pause his talk while it was being live-streamed from Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, Washington. Among the participants at the 50th anniversary of Microsoft’s founding were co-founder Bill Gates and former CEO Steve Ballmer.

Microsoft said Suleyman calmly tried to de-escalate the situation. "Thank you for your protest, I hear you," he said. Aboussad continued, shouting that Suleyman and "all of Microsoft" had blood on their hands. She also threw onto the stage a keffiyeh scarf, which has become a symbol of support for Paleostinian people, before being escorted out of the event.

A second protester, Microsoft employee Vaniya Agrawal, interrupted a later part of the event.

Aboussad, based at Microsoft’s Canadian headquarters in Toronto, was invited on Monday to a call with a human resources representative at which she was told she was being fired immediately, according to the advocacy group No Azure for Apartheid, which has protested the sale of Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform to Israel.

An investigation by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named claimed earlier this year that AI models from Microsoft and OpenAI had been used as part of an Israeli military program to select bombing targets during the wars against terror groups in Gaza and Leb
...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
In its termination letter, Microsoft told Aboussad she could have raised her concerns confidentially to a manager. Instead, it said she made "hostile, unprovoked, and highly inappropriate accusations" against Suleyman and the company and that her "conduct was so aggressive and disruptive that you had to be escorted out of the room by security."

Agrawal had already given her two weeks notice and was preparing to leave the company on April 11, but on Monday a manager emailed that Microsoft "has decided to make your resignation immediately effective today."

It was the most public but not the first protest over Microsoft’s work with Israel. In February, five Microsoft employees were ejected from a meeting with CEO Satya Nadella for protesting the contracts.

"We provide many avenues for all voices to be heard," said a statement from the company Friday. "Importantly, we ask that this be done in a way that does not cause a business disruption. If that happens, we ask participants to relocate. We are committed to ensuring our business practices uphold the highest standards."

Microsoft had declined to say Friday whether it was taking further action, but Aboussad and Agrawal expected it was coming after both lost access to their work accounts shortly after the protest.

Dozens of Google workers were fired last year after internal protests over a contract it also has with the Israeli government. Employee sit-ins at Google offices in New York and Sunnyvale, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, targeted a $1.2 billion deal known as Project Nimbus providing AI technology to the Israeli government.

The Google workers later filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board in an attempt to get their jobs back.

Ukraine captures Chinese combatants [X]
Ukrainian forces have captured two Chinese citizens serving in the Russian military in the eastern Donetsk region, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday.

“Our soldiers captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting as part of the Russian army,” Zelensky said in a statement shared by the Office of the President. “This happened on Ukrainian territory — in Donetsk region. We have their documents, bank cards, and personal information.”

Zelensky said intelligence services are now working to determine how many other Chinese nationals may be operating within Russian military units.

“We believe there are more,” he said. “Our intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine, and relevant Armed Forces units are verifying all the facts.”

The two Chinese fighters were reportedly captured by Ukraine’s elite 81st Airmobile Brigade during a clash near the villages of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka. According to a post by the brigade on Facebook, a total of six Chinese nationals took part in the firefight. The remaining four have not been publicly accounted for.

The Office of the President noted that the captured individuals were found with weapons in hand, actively participating in combat operations as part of a Russian military formation. President Zelensky said he had instructed Ukraine’s foreign minister to urgently contact Beijing for an official explanation.

“This is another country militarily supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” Zelensky said. “We’ve already seen this with Iran and North Korea. But there’s a key difference — the Chinese were captured fighting on Ukrainian soil.”

Zelensky added that the development demands an international response. “This is a clear signal that [Vladimir] Putin intends to prolong this war at any cost. It requires a reaction — from the United States, from Europe, and from everyone in the world who wants peace.”

The Chinese government has not yet responded publicly to Ukraine’s statements.

Mysterious underwater 'pyramid' believed to be 12,000 years old reshapes history
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A sunken 'pyramid' near Taiwan may rewrite everything we thought we knew about the ancient world.

Sitting just 82 feet below sea level near the Ryukyu Islands of Japan, a mysterious object called the Yonaguni monument continues to stump and astonish researchers since its discovery in 1986.

This giant structure with sharp-angled steps stands roughly 90 feet tall and appears to be made entirely of stone, leading many to believe it was man-made.

However, tests of the stone show it to be over 10,000 years old, meaning that if a civilization built this pyramid by hand, it would have taken place before this region sank under water - more than 12,000 years ago.

That would place it further back in history than most other ancient structures by several thousand years, including the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge.

Currently, scientists believe that the ability for ancient humans to construct large structures like temples and pyramids evolved alongside the development of agriculture 12,000 years ago.

If an advanced society was already building giant step pyramids long before this time, however, it could change the history books forever and reveal another lost tribe of humans - just like the myths of Atlantis.

In fact, Yonaguni monument is often called 'Japan's Atlantis,' but skeptics continue to poke holes in the theory that this structure was actually built by human hands.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Florida biker caught on video in highway drive-by shooting
[FoxNews] A man driving on a Florida interstate early Sunday morning was subjected to gunfire as he recorded several motorcyclists driving erratically, according to police.

"A 34-year-old St. Petersburg man, driving a Honda CR-V westbound on Interstate 4, observed several motorcyclists who were operating erratically with another unidentified vehicle west of Interstate 275," Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.

"The driver began to film the motorcyclists with a cell phone when one of the motorcyclists, now traveling adjacent to the victim, discharged several rounds from a handgun," the statement said. "Multiple rounds impacted the Honda, but no injuries were suffered by the victim."

One round penetrated the rear gate of SUV and entered into the left rear quarter panel.

Police said that the suspected shooter is a White male with a medium build who was wearing a jacket with an "Outlaws MC" logo.
From their website:
…an international outlaw motorcycle club. Founded in McCook, Illinois in 1935, the Outlaws MC is the oldest outlaw biker club in the world. With 441 chapters located in 43 countries, and a membership of over 3,000, the club is also the third-largest in the world, behind the Hells Angels and the Bandidos. Outlaws members typically ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
They are asking for the public's help in identifying the shooter.

Fox News Digital obtained photos of the victim's vehicle from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Outlaws MC is well known in the southwest Florida region, according to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The organization apparently thrived in the 1980s and 1990s.

The court has a page dedicated to Outlaws MC members who have been convicted of crimes.

"Between 1981 and 2003, five significant criminal trials involving the Outlaws Motorcycle Club were conducted in the Tampa Courthouse," the page says. "All of the indictments alleged violations of the federal racketeering laws and the trial evidence included testimony about prostitution, drugs, guns, extortion, and murder."

During that time, Harry Bowman was the international leader of the gang and was responsible for killings, bombings and intimidation. He was placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list in 1998 and was captured in Michigan in 1999. He was convicted of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder and for crimes involving drugs, guns, extortion, assault and arson, and is now serving a life sentence.

DOGE cuts $51M from US African Development Foundation, including $229K to market shea butter
[FoxNews] The money went toward mango drying facilities and marketing for pineapple juice and shea butter

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced $51 million in cuts from the U.S. African Development Foundation, which included hundreds of thousands of dollars for marketing shea butter and pineapple juice, as well as mango drying facilities.

DOGE made the announcement on X, highlighting several initiatives the money was put toward.

For instance, $229,296 was used to market 100% organic shea butter in Burkina Faso; $246,217 was spent on mango drying facilities in the Ivory Coast; and $239,738 was spent on marketing pineapple juice in Benin.

The department also said $99,566 was spent to increase yogurt production in Uganda; $84,059 was spent on a business incubator for spa and wellness entrepreneurs in Nigeria; $50,000 was spent to train farmers how to grow dragon fruit in Senegal; and $48,406 was spent on a WhatsApp marketing chatbot in Kenya.

Late last month, DOGE shared that it had terminated 113 contracts valued at $4.7 billion, including a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) consulting contract valued at $145,000 for Peru climate change activities.

The funding that was canceled also included $10 million for "gender equity in the Mexican workplace," $12.2 million for "worker empowerment in South America" and $6.25 million for "improving respect for workers' rights in agricultural supply chains" in the countries of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

The department has canceled numerous diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at federal agencies, consulting contracts, leases for underused federal buildings and duplicate agencies and programs.

As of Monday, DOGE claims on its site that it has saved Americans $140 billion, or about $870 per taxpayer.

Starliner's flight to the space station was far wilder than most of us thought
From April 1st.
[ArsTechnica] As it flew up toward the International Space Station last summer, the Starliner spacecraft lost four thrusters. A NASA astronaut, Butch Wilmore, had to take manual control of the vehicle. But as Starliner's thrusters failed, Wilmore lost the ability to move the spacecraft in the direction he wanted to go.

He and his fellow astronaut, Suni Williams, knew where they wanted to go. Starliner had flown to within a stone's throw of the space station, a safe harbor, if only they could reach it. But already, the failure of so many thrusters violated the mission's flight rules. In such an instance, they were supposed to turn around and come back to Earth. Approaching the station was deemed too risky for Wilmore and Williams, aboard Starliner, as well as for the astronauts on the $100 billion space station.

But what if it was not safe to come home, either?

"I don't know that we can come back to Earth at that point," Wilmore said in an interview. "I don't know if we can. And matter of fact, I'm thinking we probably can't."

STARLINER ASTRONAUTS MEET WITH THE MEDIA
On Monday, for the first time since they returned to Earth on a Crew Dragon vehicle two weeks ago, Wilmore and Williams participated in a news conference at Johnson Space Center in Houston. Afterward, they spent hours conducting short, 10-minute interviews with reporters from around the world, describing their mission. I spoke with both of them.

Economy
Tariff Tantrums: While Boomers Rage and Millennials Panic, Gen X Knows We've Got a Country to Save
While by some measures I am considered a tail-end Baby Boomer, by others I am a Gen X. Perhaps because I am the eldest child of my family, or because my parents arrived in this country as adults, or because I grew up without a television, which disconnected me from many of the touchstones of an American childhood of the period, I am certainly by experience a Gen X-er, and this is the song of my people.
[RedState] I'm not sure if any of you caught the goofy "Hands Off" ragefests that took place this past weekend, but I took a gander to see what the left was fussing about this time. Other than their tiresome "orange man bad" refrain. Sure enough, it was more of the same, with a dash of DOGE and a twist of Musk Derangement Syndrome thrown in for dramatic effect.

What struck me, though, was how very Boomer the crowds looked (see the accompanying photo captured this past weekend by our own Jennifer Oliver O'Connell). It's as if every retired librarian who identifies as a coastal elite, which seems to be most of them, had dragged their Birkenstock-clad spouses out to the spectacle and shoved a silly sign in their hands. In short, the protestors were very old and very white.
The stereotypical Boomer, anyway. The generational cohort was actually two — the quiet, uncelebrated other half being mostly as sensible and lovely as one could want.
Like many Gen-Xers, and especially those of us who were born right on the heels of the Boomers, I've always held a healthy amount of disdain for the group that came before us. As a group, they come off as incredibly self-righteous, smug, and completely un-self-aware, and despite having enjoyed the best years of America, they're still mad and are now complaining about those of us who have to clean up their messes.

Then, after logging onto X to see the latest "discourse" around the tariffs, I see this:

A good friend of mine who is conservative / right-wing / Republican just sent me this.

You start messing around with people’s investments and 401(k)s and you’re going to lose support — fast. pic.twitter.com/GEBcYxMGcx

— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 7, 2025
Reading the Twitter thread, the conclusion appears to be that the good friend is imaginary because the tweet he shared is manufactured, not real. Which makes the whole thing a metaphor of a whole bunch of things…
I don't even have to know the person involved to know they are a Millennial. This sentiment oozes, "I like my fat 401(k) and cheap consumer goods and I'll give up all of my freedoms to have them!" Hey, we all like those things, but you're kidding yourself if you think there's not a steep price to pay for them. Did "new math" make an entire generation financially illiterate?

While our generational bookends are engaged in their tariff and Trump tantrums, we Gen Xers are over here wondering how so many of our fellow citizens thought the gravy train was going to go on for forever. The signs have sure been there for a long time that we'd eventually pay the price for things like printing money and selling our farmland to China. And here we are.

Generation X has always known there'd be a day of reckoning for the United States. We've been told for decades we'd best save our pennies because there sure as heck wasn't going to be any Social Security left for us when we hit retirement age. When I was handed my college diploma in the early 90s, it came with a message of: "Congratulations, sure hope you can find a job in this economy. Oh, and you'll never have it as good as your parents."

Not a great note on which to start adulthood, but it's okay to live in reality and not on tired slogans and scaredy-cat doomsday scenarios. My generation has learned some hard lessons along the way, having experienced the Cold War, stagflation, Black Monday 1987, high mortgage rates in the 90s, the tech stock bubble burst of the early 2000s, two terror attacks on the World Trade Center, the war on terrorism, the financial crisis of 2008 and, of course, COVID. We've weathered these things, having grown up in an America that valued freedom, was proud of the "Made in America" label, and celebrated patriotism.

For goodness sake, we were forced to listen to the bloviating of Boomers like Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, and Billy Joel as they lamented the loss of middle America and our manufacturing base. And now that generation is ticked off that Donald Trump wants to return our country to some of its past glory? Spare me.

Now, it's too easy to blame all of today's problems on Boomers, and the truth of it is that it's been generations of both Republicans and Democrats who have used the American taxpayer as a limitless credit card and doing their best to suck freedom dry. But, the truth is also that Generation X is staring down retirement while wrestling with a Boomer generation that is hanging for dear life onto a lot of our country's resources and Millennials who don't seem to have the backbone to deal with an economic downturn that history has proven will be temporary.

The funny thing about all of this is that the object of these two generations' ire, Donald Trump, may turn out to be the most Gen X president this country ever gets. Our tiny group may never get one of our own into the White House, but Trump, who's on the older side of the Boomer cohort, seems to have begun the fight we always knew was headed our way.

Gird your loins and saddle up, my fellow Gen Xers. We've got a country to save.

#3  Mrs. TW: I too am on the cusp. From my point of view, much of the bitching in today's politics is a continuation of the Vietnam War.

Maybe Trump will get Hanoi Jane for treason. That'd let the "quiet, uncelebrated" vets have the final say. Yea!

The one good thing about the Boomers is that when they are gone, there will be a surplus of assisted living facilities and memory units, which might make them affordable for those in their wake.

The Afghan online news service, Khaama Press, reports that the United States has reassumed control of Bagram Air Base (Real?)

@sentdefender
The Afghan online news service, Khaama Press, reports that the United States has re-assumed control of Bagram Air Base in eastern Afghanistan, to the north of Kabul, at the request of the Taliban Government;
Seriously? I have no information, but that makes no sense…
with several C-17s arriving last week at the base, carrying military vehicles, equipment and senior intelligence officials, including the Deputy Director of the CIA, Michael Ellis.

The redeployment of American service members to Afghanistan following their withdrawal in 2021 has yet to be confirmed by U.S. or Taliban officials, though flight trackers did manage to confirm the arrival of several U.S. Air Force C-17 military transport aircraft last week at Bagram. Though this move likely makes no sense to some, Bagram Air Base and Afghanistan as a whole remains an extremely strategic location for staging future military operations in a war against both Iran and China. According to some reports, an official announcement of the U.S. military re-assuming control of Bagram is expected to come in April, possibly as early as this week.

US Conference Of Catholic Bishops Ends Refugee Program After USAID Funding Cut
[ZeroHedge] The days of the Catholic Church receiving billions from U.S. taxpayers appear to be over. Earlier this year, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) cut funding to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). On Monday, the non-governmental organization (NGO)—which has been highly sympathetic to nation-killing policies promoted by the rudderless Democratic Party, including open borders on both the southern and northern fronts—announced that its partnerships with the federal government to provide refugee support services have ended.

AP News reported that the USCCB's move to end its 50 years of partnerships with the federal government to serve refugees comes after USAID slashed funding for refugee resettlement programs.

"As a national effort, we simply cannot sustain the work on our own at current levels or in current form," stated USCCB President Archbishop Timothy Broglio, adding, "We will work to identify alternative means of support for the people the federal government has already admitted to these programs. We ask your prayers for the many staff and refugees impacted."

USCCB does not plan to revive existing federal government agreements for refugee resettlement programs.

The NGO sued the Trump administration earlier this year, claiming the president's order that suspended refugee grants was illegal and asked for millions in what it claimed was owed to Catholic charities. However, a federal judge denied USCCB's request.

In late January, Vice President JD Vance told Margaret Brennan of CBS's Face Nation, "I believe the US Conference of Catholic Bishops — if they're worried about the humanitarian costs of immigration enforcement, let them talk about the children who have been sex trafficked because of the wide open border."

Catholic charities received taxpayer monies through grants from USAID, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies, totaling billions.

Honduran Illegal Alien Charged With Stealing 40 Firearms From Tennessee Gun Store
[ZeroHedge] The White House announced that a Honduran national in the U.S. illegally has been indicted for allegedly stealing over 40 firearms from a Tennessee gun store, according to Breitbart and a DOJ press release. The guns, still bearing price tags, were found in his car.

“Under President Trump, criminals like this are being hunted down and taken off our streets,” the White House said on X.

The DOJ wrote in a press release: "Carlos Alberto Diaz-Chavez, 21, a citizen of Honduras without legal status in the United States, has been charged by criminal complaint with being an Alien in possession of a firearm, possession of a machinegun, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, announced Acting United States Attorney Robert E. McGuire for the Middle District of Tennessee."

Acting U.S. Attorney Robert E. McGuire added: “We will not hesitate to keep our community safe from those who would illegally possess dangerous firearms, deal deadly narcotics, and who put our first responders at risk by their actions.”

According to the press release, on February 17, 2025, a Williamson County deputy attempted to stop a silver Toyota Camry on I-65 for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The car fled, prompting a chase that ended when deputies deployed spike strips and the vehicle crashed into a guardrail near Spring Hill.

Three individuals fled on foot. One, Diaz-Chavez, was caught carrying a backpack containing a machine gun, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Two more guns were found in the car. He later admitted to being in the U.S. illegally since 2019 and said he used the firearms to protect himself while dealing narcotics in Nashville.

Diaz-Chavez faces multiple federal charges carrying up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $1 million.

The case, led by the ATF and local law enforcement, is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ effort to combat illegal immigration, cartels, and violent crime.

Second US Carrier Steams Through Indian Ocean To Join Yemen War
[ZeroHedge] New satellite imagery captured over the weekend shows the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier entering the Indian Ocean, signaling Washington's escalating military build-up in the region as part of its war on Yemen and ahead of a possible attack on Iran.

The USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier named in honor of US Congressman Carl Vinson of Georgia, was originally deployed in the western Pacific. It is now the second US aircraft carrier in West Asia, joining the USS Harry S. Truman.

Last week, the US also deployed a fleet of B-2 Bombers to its base in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Together, the US carriers and bombers greatly expand the US military's ability to launch air and missile strikes on Iran and Yemen.

The satellite imagery and maritime data showed that the USS Carl Vinson and its strike group transited through the Malacca Straits to reach the Indian Ocean.

The US military has been bombing Yemen since March 15, after the country's Ansarallah-led government announced its intention to resume attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red and Arabian Seas in response to Israel's blockade on Gaza.

The US military's bombing campaign in Yemen has cost nearly $1 billion in under three weeks, according to sources speaking with CNN, who said the campaign had caused a limited impact on the Ansarallah-led Yemeni Armed Forces' (YAF) capabilities.

Yemen, a close ally of Iran, first began attacking Israeli-linked ships and targets in Israel in November 2023 in response to Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

The US military build-up in West Asia intensified after US President Donald Trump threatened Iran on 30 March with bombing and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not come to an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program. “If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing,” Trump said in a telephone interview. “It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.”

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has also issued warnings to Iran. “Secretary Hegseth continues to make clear that, should Iran or its proxies threaten American personnel and interests in the region, the United States will take decisive action to defend our people,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement issued Monday.

Iran has made clear it is not willing to enter direct talks over its nuclear program while US officials threaten military action against it.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated Tehran is open to indirect talks via intermediaries in Oman. Araghchi wrote in a post on X, “Diplomatic engagement worked in the past and can still work. But, it should be clear to all that there is – by definition – no such thing as a ‘military option,’ let alone a ‘military solution.’”

Following Trump's threat, Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), directly threatened US bases in West Asia.

“The Americans have around 10 military bases in the region – at least near Iran – and 50,000 troops,” Hajizadeh told Iranian state TV on Monday. “It's like they're sitting in a glass house. And when you're in a glass house, you don't throw stones at others.”

GOP senators file bill to create Education Savings Accounts for military families
[JustTheNews] The bill also “supports military readiness by helping attract and retain top talent, ensuring service members don’t have to sacrifice their children’s education,” Banks said.

Republican U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Jim Banks, R-Ind. introduced a bill to create Education Savings Accounts for the children of active-duty service members.

The bill would amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to allow parents of eligible military-dependent children to establish Military Education Savings Accounts.

“School choice is the civil rights issue of the 21st century, and parents should never have to choose between serving their country and ensuring that their children have access to a quality education,” Cruz said, adding that the bill “will ensure that military families are empowered to choose and secure the right education for their children.”

The bill also “supports military readiness by helping attract and retain top talent, ensuring service members don’t have to sacrifice their children’s education,” Banks said.

It would direct the secretaries of the departments of Education and Defense to carry out the program ‘‘at the request of a parent of an eligible military dependent child, establish an account on behalf of such child … into which the Secretary shall deposit funds” and “establish a procedure under which the parent of the child may use funds in the account to pay for the educational expenses of the child in accordance” with the law, according to the bill language.

It would create ESAs for up to $6,000 to apply to reading, writing, language, mathematics, science and social studies instruction. The amount would increase over time in accordance with inflation, apply for one academic year and can be renewed, according to the bill language.

The bill also would create a lottery system if the appropriated funds are insufficient to fully fund the program. It prioritizes siblings of children already benefitting from the ESA program, children of enlisted members, warrant officers and then commissioned officers.

ESAs provide taxpayer subsidies for families to use for educational purposes. The bill would prohibit ESA funds from being used for public school education. Applicants are prohibited from enrolling their child “in a public elementary school or a public secondary school, on a full-time basis while participating in the program,” the bill states.

ESA funds are permitted to be used for private elementary or secondary school tuition; educational co-op, micro-school, learning pod, or hybrid school tuition, including religious schools; private online learning programs; private tutoring; individual classes, extracurricular activities, athletic programs, and educational trips; summer camps and academic camps; materials prescribed by educational therapists or medical professionals; textbooks, curriculum programs, or other instructional materials; computer hardware, software or other technological devices for educational purposes; private school uniforms; fees for nationally standardized tests, advanced placement exams, college or university admission exams; education transportation costs; apprenticeship or vocational training program costs; contributions to a college savings account, among others.

Unused funds would roll over from year to year; funds left over after students graduate high school could be used to finance higher education tuition or costs associated with an alternative professional training, according to the bill language.

The bill also includes stipulations for the Education Secretary to administer the program, includes fraud prevention and reporting requirements, and prohibits religion-based discrimination. It doesn’t apply to National Guard members’ children, excludes postsecondary education, and limits the program to students once they turn 22 or 26, if disabled.

The military ESAs are also tax exempt.

Cruz previously introduced the Education Savings Accounts for Military Families Act in 2023, which went nowhere in a Democratic-controlled Senate during the Biden administration.

Noem presents buyout offers for DHS employees ahead of workforce reduction
[JustTheNews] DHS employees considering leaving the department early can choose among three buyout options: A cash incentive to retire early or quit, or a deferred resignation with a brief period of paid administrative leave.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Monday night offered buyout options to department employees, as the Trump administration continues to drastically reduce the size and scope of the federal workforce.

The internal memo, which was reviewed by Politico, does not indicate how wide the workforce reduction would be, but it could include employees at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

DHS employees considering leaving the department early can choose among three buyout options: A cash incentive to retire early or quit, or a deferred resignation with a brief period of paid administrative leave.

"[The buyout options] reflect our commitment to aligning our workforce with the evolving mission needs while supporting the personal and professional goals of our dedicated employees," Noem wrote in the memo.

The offer comes after Noem stated at a Cabinet meeting last month that she was looking to eliminate FEMA, which has been accused of improperly spending money to house illegal migrants, instead of using it to respond to natural disasters.

Employees have until April 14 to opt into the buyout option.

Belarus Customs intercepted over 500 kg of explosives hidden in a vehicle attempting to cross into Russia
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Belarusian customs authorities have announced the seizure of over 500 kilograms of explosives bound for Russia and the arrest of a suspect.

In an official statement, Belarusian customs confirmed that their officers successfully intercepted 580 kilograms of powerful explosives intended for Russia. The materials were hidden in a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old man who was attempting to cross from Poland into Belarus.

The authorities revealed that the suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was attempting to transport the explosives via land routes into Russia. During routine border checks, customs officers became suspicious of the cargo and, after inspection, discovered a significant amount of industrial-grade explosives of foreign manufacture.

The suspect was arrested and handed over to judicial authorities. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the explosives and the intended destination of the shipment.

With rising security tensions in Eastern Europe, border surveillance, especially along routes between Belarus, Poland, and Russia, has intensified. In recent years, Belarus and Russia have enhanced their security cooperation to combat weapons, drug trafficking, and military equipment smuggling.

This incident could heighten security concerns regarding suspicious activities along Eastern European borders, particularly in the context of ongoing geopolitical crises in the region.

Supreme Court says Trump admin does not have to comply with judge's order to return Maryland MS-13 member from El Salvador
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The US Supreme Court has paused a lower court judge's ruling that ordered the Trump administration to return by the end of the day Monday a man who had been deported to El Salvador.

Chief Justice John Roberts paused the order from US District Judge Paula Xinis requiring that Kilmar Abrego Garcia be returned to the US. Xinis' order came in response to a lawsuit filed by the man and his family.

"IT IS ORDERED that the April 4, 2025 order of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, case No. 8:25-cv-951, is hereby stayed pending further order of the undersigned or of the Court. It is further ordered that a response to the application be filed on or before Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, by 5 p.m. (EDT)," the order stated.

Xinis ordered that Abrego Garcia be returned to the US by 11:59 pm on Monday after he was deported on March 15 aboard deportation flights to El Salvador. In a filing to the Supreme Court, the DOJ said he was removed to El Salvador through "administrative error," though his removal from the US "was not an error," per Rooters.

Abrego Garcia had received a deportation protection order in 2019. The DOJ said that he was a member of the violent mostly peaceful MS-13 gang and was no longer eligible for such protections. Abrego Garcia's lawyers have denied the allegation that he is a gang member.

Xinis found that the 2019 order was still in place, and wrote in her Sunday decision, "there were no legal grounds whatsoever for his arrest, detention or removal." She said the removal of Abrego Garcia was "wholly lawless."

In a filing to the Supreme Court, the Department of Justice said, "The United States cannot guarantee success in sensitive international negotiations in advance, least of all when a court imposes an absurdly compressed, mandatory deadline that vastly complicates the give-and-take of foreign-relations negotiations."

"The United States does not control the sovereign nation of El Salvador, nor can it compel El Salvador to follow a federal judge's bidding."

Netanyahu Announces Israel Will Eliminate Trade Deficit with U.S.
[Breitbart] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday he would end tariffs on U.S. goods as President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs are set to take effect on Wednesday.

Netanyahu announced during an Oval Office press conference alongside Trump that Israel will end the “trade deficit with the United States” rapidly.

“I can tell you that I said to the President a very simple thing: We will eliminate the trade deficit with the United States. We intend to do it very quickly,” Netanyahu told reporters.

“We think it’s the right thing to do, and we’re going to also eliminate trade barriers, a variety of trade barriers that have been put up unnecessarily. And I think Israel can serve as a model for many countries who ought to do the same,” he added.

Netanyahu also expressed empathy for Trump’s stance on trade imbalances:

I recognize the position of the United States. It says, ‘You know, we are allowing other countries to put tariffs on us, but we don’t put tariffs on them.’ And, you know, I’m a free trade champion, and free trade has to be fair trade. And I think that’s basically the position that you have put forward, Mr. President.

Netanyahu also noted that he spoke with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Sunday about effecting this change in tariff policy quickly.

Islamic Institute in Dagestan Deprived of License
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Rosobrnadzor has terminated the license of the Imam Shamil Islamic Institute,
…named for the leader of the North Caucasian anti-Russian resistance in the 1800s, the third Imam of the Caucasian Imamate, and Sufi sheikh…
which has been operating in Dagestan since 1994.

The department announced the termination of the institute’s license today.

The license for educational activities issued to the UHPE (DOU) RO "Imam Shamil Islamic Institute" has been terminated in accordance with the law "On licensing certain types of activities", according to a message on the Rosobrnadzor website.

The agency does not provide specific reasons for which it was decided to terminate the license of this educational institution. The aforementioned law provides for a number of grounds for terminating a license, including violations of licensing requirements and the absence of an application for periodic confirmation of the license. Rosobrnadzor has not previously reported warnings to the Imam Shamil Islamic Institute.

The Imam Shamil Islamic Institute is located in Kizilyurt and was established in 1994 on the basis of the Moscow Higher Spiritual Islamic College, founded that same year under the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European Part of Russia, according to information on the institution's website. The institute had a perpetual license from Rosobrnadzor since 2014 and trained bachelors in the field of "Theology".

The rector of the Imam Shamil Islamic Institute in Kizilyurt, Abdurakhman Shamsudinov, died in May 2020, RIA Dagestan reported. According to the Rusprofile counterparty verification service, since August 2020, the rector has been listed as Shamsudinov Sadam-Khusen Abdurakhmanovich.

There is no information about the institute's current activities in public sources: the class schedule posted on the website has not been updated since 2020, and the last publications on the university's Facebook* and Instagram* pages were published in January and February 2022, respectively.

On the topic of closing the Cheka-OGPU
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

[ColonelCassad] 1. There has been no "freedom of speech" or "freedom of opinion" on the Internet for quite some time now. As the recent closure of USAID has shown, most "fighters for freedom of opinion" turned out to be fighters for dead American presidents from the American budget. Also, expressing opinions on the Internet is regulated in one way or another by the red flags of the current legislation.

2. As part of the reformatting of the world order and the ongoing war, states will strive to establish control over their segments of the network (if you do not do this, another state will establish control over your segment of the network) and information-significant infrastructure.
Where necessary, states will maintain the appearance of pluralism.

3. The well-known experience of Chinese censorship in recent years has been vividly supplemented by globalist censorship (especially gifted bloggers were perfectly explained everything using the example of the mass deletion of "incorrect" YouTube channels and the equally remarkable moderation on Facebook and Twitter (before the sale to Musk). Russia has only relatively recently embarked on this path, since most of today's foreign agents and collaborators, until relatively recently, felt quite at ease in the Russian information space.

4. Therefore, one should not be surprised by the blocking of the "VChK-OGPU". This was an enemy channel, even despite the fact that it was paid money by Russian officials for publishing leaks and compromising information. It is worth noting that along with it, a whole set of obvious information dumps created by the SBU and the GUR MOU, which mimicked Russian resources, were deleted.

5. Within the logic of war, this was part of the enemy's information infrastructure and it was "affected" by available means, including in the same style in which pro-Russian channels were deleted on YouTube or websites of domestic collaborators were blocked. And this logic will certainly apply not only to the "VChK-OGPU" and not only to Telegram.

6. State control over information and narrative flows on the network will increase. And here, and in Europe, and in the USA, and in China. This is the inevitable future. The screws will gradually begin to be unscrewed after the completion of the upcoming cycle of wars and the stage of transformation of the world order, when it will already be possible to be liberal again. But for now, just as the existing world order is being fragmented politically and economically, it will also continue to fragment informationally, where states/blocs of states will, on the one hand, strive to establish complete control over their segment of the network, and on the other hand, use various methods to get into the opponent's segment with their narratives. Therefore, in the West they will continue to cleanse the Russian/pro-Russian information infrastructure, and in our country they will also cleanse the Western/Ukrainian/collaborationist one.

About the situation in the area of Chasov Yar
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of project_nd

[ColonelCassad] The enemy has increased the number of FPV applications in the Soledar-Bakhmut sector. What should we expect next?

Over the past month, the air situation in the Soledar-Bakhmut sector of the front has changed significantly - the Ukrainian Armed Forces have brought in fresh forces to the sector and are filling the skies with attack UAVs. In general, the situation is extremely unpleasant, given the incoming information about a possible offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the territory of the DPR. Let's figure out what filling the "small skies" means.

It is no secret that the enemy is extremely inventive in the use of "small aviation" and has virtually no problems equipping them with drones and equipment, which allows them to regularly experiment with frequencies, configuration and ammunition - these are the "experiments" they are conducting in the skies over the Soledar-Bakhmut sector now. It was possible to establish that drones that can freely change frequencies in flight are far from uncommon, but rather commonplace. When entering the EW zone, such a drone can literally switch frequencies in a couple of seconds in order to subsequently carry out an attack without hindrance (if this frequency is not suppressed by EW, of course). Also, according to my comrade-in-arms, who happened to be an accidental witness (I did not see it myself, so I cannot vouch for it 100%), the enemy used Baba Yaga hexacopters controlled by fiber optics.

So, as of today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have increased the number of FPV applications at least threefold, and at different distances. The enemy has deployed a large number of UAV specialists to a number of areas in the direction, in particular, some time ago, UAV specialists were replenished to the 30th Separate Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Soledar section of the front, after which the number of FPV attacks taking place in the Dubovo-Vasilyevka-Soledar area has increased significantly. It has been established that the enemy from the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade uses the very same drones capable of operating at various frequencies and, as practice has shown, at fairly long distances for FPV - usually 17-20 km, and this indicates that the brigade has also received enhanced equipment to ensure stable communication between the operator and the drone.

The 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (the one whose area of responsibility is Chasov Yar and the surrounding area) is not lagging behind its colleagues. The brigade has also been replenished with reserves and equipment (I assume that this happened as a result of the secondment of other enemy fighters from units that fled from the Kursk direction). In particular, the number of FPV applications in Chasov Yar has increased approximately 3 times compared to the summer-autumn campaign (and I, as a direct participant, will say that at that time there were more than enough drones, 4 to 5 could fly in 15 minutes, and this was stable).

What does all this mean? The thing is that it doesn't really look like a classic active defense - In my opinion, the enemy is now "zeroing in", looking for convenient corridors for FPV and analyzing its actions for a subsequent decision: most likely, we should expect a local offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area with the massive use of drones, which I already wrote about in the channel a few days ago. At the same time, I will not say that the Soledar-Bakhmut area is of particular strategic importance for the enemy, that certain forces can be thrown at it.

Of the more or less suitable ones, I can only highlight the idea of the Ukrainian Armed Forces about revenge in Chasov Yar, but still, I am more inclined to the idea of massive UAV strikes in order to "stretch" the units of the Russian Armed Forces and then break through the front in a certain area inside the Soledar-Bakhmut direction. It has been established that the UAV operators, who have accumulated en masse in the direction, are in close proximity to the LBS, occupying positions mainly in dugouts and trenches. Of course, we have our own "tricks" prepared for the enemy and have something to meet him with and, of course, to knock out the enemy, who is accumulating in the rear areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the form of Druzhkovka, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk (these are the main logistics hubs of the enemy group today).

We continue to work in this direction.

Zelensky announces large-scale plans to purchase and produce drones

The head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that the authorities are aiming to maximize the purchase and production of drones, including those using fiber optics.

We are talking about the production of both compact quadcopters for reconnaissance purposes and long-range drones.

"I made a bet. I listened to reports on drone production in Ukraine, we are increasing it as much as possible. And across the entire line: from Mavics to long-range drones, and we are also increasing our Ukrainian capabilities for the production of ground robotic systems," Zelensky said in his evening address on the Telegram channel.

He added that Kyiv is working on a fiber-optic UAV. Zelensky claims that since the beginning of this year, "more than 20 new certified models of drones with a fiber-optic control system" have appeared. Eleven enterprises will be involved in the production of such drones.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, over the past week, more than 200 terrorist attacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces drones on civilians and civilian infrastructure were thwarted in the Donetsk People's Republic.

Three aircraft-type drones were intercepted in the Kuibyshevsky and Kirovsky districts of Donetsk. The Ukrainian drones were conducting reconnaissance of the area near civilian fuel and lubricant storage facilities.

On April 7, Russian air defense systems intercepted 19 Ukrainian UAVs. 13 UAVs were destroyed over the Azov Sea, four UAVs over Krasnodar Krai, and one each over Bryansk Oblast and Crimea.

Israeli Defense Minister Katz Accuses Iran of Directly Financing Hamas
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused the Iranian authorities of directly financing the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. This was reported on April 6 by the press service of the Defense Ministry.

Katz said that on April 6 he visited the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) "intelligence unit" created after the conflict escalated on October 7, 2023.

"I was presented with a secret document found in the tunnels of Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip. It proves direct links between Iran and Hamas leaders, as well as Iran's support for Hamas' plan to destroy Israel and the October 7 attack," Katz said.

According to the Israeli Defense Minister, in the document that was found, Hamas demands $500 million from the elite Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite unit of the Iranian Armed Forces) to finance the destruction of Israel. In addition, Katz claims that the head of the Palestinian branch of the IRGC, Saeed Izadi, responded to the request and assured that Iran would continue to invest in Hamas, despite its difficult economic situation. The minister specified that Hamas received the requested funds.

According to Katz, this episode proves that “Iran is the head of the snake.” The head of the Israeli Defense Ministry assured that the country will do everything to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and will continue to strike its “terrorist satellites” until “the Iranian axis of evil collapses.”

Earlier, Regnum reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Defense Minister Katz to give a tough response to the rocket fire from Gaza. In turn, the head of the Defense Ministry ordered the continuation and expansion of the military operation against Hamas in Gaza.

On April 4, the IDF launched a ground military operation in the Ash-Shujaiya area in the eastern Gaza City in the northern part of the eponymous sector. It was specified that such a decision was made to "expand the security zone."

Earlier, on March 31, the UN accused the Israeli army of killing 15 medical workers and rescuers in the Gaza Strip. They were then buried in a mass grave in southern Gaza, and their ambulances and a UN mission vehicle were covered with sand using a bulldozer. The body of one of the doctors was found with his hands tied.

On April 4, Dmitry Polyansky, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, said that he was shocked by the news of the discovery of mass graves of humanitarian workers in the Gaza Strip. The Russian diplomat emphasized that at least 408 humanitarian workers have died in the Palestinian enclave since October 2023.

Russian Ministry of Defense reports the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting daily attacks on Russian energy facilities
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are conducting daily attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure; over the past 24 hours, Kiev has attacked energy facilities in five regions of the country six times. This was reported on April 7 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The Kiev regime, in violation of the Russian-American agreements to cease strikes on energy facilities for 30 days from March 18 of this year, continues daily unilateral attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked Russian energy facilities six times," the defense department said in a publication on its Telegram channel.

As a result of the Ukrainian drone attack on the power facility of the Rosseti PJSC branch — Rostov PMES, the high-voltage line was disconnected. The Kiev regime also struck with a UAV at the power facility of the Rosseti South PJSC branch — Rostovenergo, the high-voltage line was disconnected, and about 1,000 consumers in the Myasnikovsky district were left without power supply.

In the Voronezh region, as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian drone on an energy facility of the branch of PJSC Rosseti Centre — Voronezhenergo, consumers in the village of Kalinino in the Borisoglebsky district were left without power supply. In the Kherson region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Vinogradovo electrical substation of the branch of PJSC Rosseti — Tavricheskoye PMES.

In the Donetsk People's Republic, as a result of artillery shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the electrical substation of the State Unitary Enterprise of the DPR "REK", a transformer was disconnected and caught fire. The municipal enterprise "Company "Voda Donbassa" in Donetsk was left without power supply. In the Bryansk region on April 7, as a result of shelling by Ukrainian formations, a transformer substation of the branch of PJSC "Rosseti Center" - "Bryanskenergo" was disconnected.

The day before, on April 6, Ukrainian forces attacked energy infrastructure in four regions of Russia. In Crimea, a Ukrainian drone damaged a high-voltage line. In the Bryansk region, Ukrainian drones attacked three energy facilities, leaving subscribers in the Sevsky and Suzemsky districts without power supply.

In the Rostov region, a high-voltage line was disconnected due to an enemy UAV strike. In the Voronezh region, Ukrainian drones damaged an overground low-pressure steel gas pipeline twice.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 18, during telephone negotiations, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the initiative of his American counterpart Donald Trump on a 30-day mutual moratorium between Russia and Ukraine on attacks on energy infrastructure. Putin immediately gave the corresponding instructions to the Russian Armed Forces.

Despite the public statement by the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, about joining the agreement, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked an oil depot in the Krasnodar Territory with drones on the night of March 19, causing a large-scale fire. Subsequently, Ukrainian fighters continued systematic strikes on Russian energy facilities. On April 5, the Russian Defense Ministry noted a multiple increase in the number of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian energy facilities. Over the course of 24 hours, they carried out 14 such strikes in seven regions of Russia.

Strike on 'Houthi missile formation' creates new problems for US
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] The US leadership is looking for quick victories in Yemen – but instead it is running into new grounds for criticism. The dust around Signalgate has not yet settled, and Washington has already “distinguished itself” again in the Yemeni direction.

Only recently, a completely unrelated journalist got into a closed chat of high-ranking American officials, where strikes on the Houthis were discussed, among other things. The data from this chat, which was made public, provoked the first serious crisis in the Trump administration. And now, the other day, Washington tried to “sell” a strike on civilians, who were not connected to Ansar Allah, under the guise of a successful operation against the Houthis.

Such carelessness risks having a serious impact on the United States in the long run, significantly weakening its support among the local population when the Houthis have to be dealt with “on the ground.”

FORMATION OF THE MISSILEMEN
A new scandal has erupted at the instigation of US President Donald Trump.

The American leader posted a video on social media showing an airstrike on a group of people in the province of Hodeida. Citing data from the Central Command, the Republican stated that the target of the strike was a “missile formation” of the pro-Iranian movement Ansar Allah — the strike was carried out at a time when they were allegedly receiving instructions to attack the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

"Oops, no attack from those Houthis! Those Houthis won't be able to sink our ships anymore," Trump wrote with his usual sarcasm.

However, it quickly became clear that the picture was not as rosy as the American president presented it.

The first thing that caught my eye was the peculiar location chosen for the secret meeting. The Houthi "rocket men" preferred to gather not in an underground bunker, but in an open area. Moreover, the participants of the meeting did not react to the appearance of American aircraft in the sky, which is why the dropped munition landed right in the center of their meeting.

The formation itself looked strange - in the shape of an oval - while at military parades and other public events, footage of which is abundant on the Internet, the Houthi formations are no different from European ones.

Soon enough, Houthi officials intervened, explaining to the public that the target of the American raid was a routine tribal gathering to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Such open-air gatherings are quite common in Yemen, and it is not customary to bring weapons (except for the traditional jambiya belt dagger). Ansar Allah spokesmen were quick to take a jab at Washington, calling attempts to pass off the peaceful gathering as a military council “a lack of quality intelligence.”

The Houthis' statement could well have been taken as an attempt to hide losses, if the information they later voiced (albeit without much publicity) had not been confirmed to the Pentagon by Saudi and Emirati experts - who certainly cannot be accused of loyalty to pro-Iranian forces.

As a result, the US – perhaps without realizing it – gave Ansar Allah a powerful information trump card.

DEAD SOULS
It is worth saying that this is not the first time that the US has been passing off wishful thinking as reality in Yemen, presenting each subsequent raid as the “last hunt” for the top officials of Ansar Allah.

An example of this is the massive strikes on the provinces of Sanaa and Hodeida in mid-March 2025, which allegedly killed the Houthis' "chief missileman." The Pentagon never provided his name or any other identification data. And then they decided to hush up the topic without further comment. In a similar way, the White House reported in early April on the death of "several Houthi leaders" - this information was also not confirmed.

Moreover, for every “field commander” eliminated, there are usually several dozen civilians killed.

Washington ignores collateral damage, considering it inevitable (and, given the goals of the operation, even acceptable), but this approach does not benefit contacts with the local population.

First of all, because not all Yemeni clans living in the territories controlled by Ansar Allah are under their direct influence. The tribe, whose meeting the Americans tried to pass off as a "missile formation", maintained neutrality for a long time, but after the American raid, announced the conclusion of a military alliance with the Houthis and joining their banners.

Other sheikhs are now looking at Washington and its loyal forces with suspicion - no one can guarantee that their fellow tribesmen will not be the next target of American aviation.

Such seemingly insignificant shifts in US perceptions in Yemen could result in a large-scale guerrilla campaign against the anti-Houthi coalition, especially if Washington decides to conduct a ground campaign, which is inevitable, as more and more hawks in Trump’s circle insist.

ISSUE AN INVOICE
Amid the growing scandals, the voices of skeptics – especially from the Democratic wing – are becoming increasingly vocal. Not only in the Senate and Congress, but also in the Pentagon and even the White House, they are declaring that the “Yemen blitzkrieg” that Trump was counting on has failed.

The operation has been protracted and has so far demonstrated very modest results, damaging the image of the American leadership.

Moreover, the cost of the operation is growing by leaps and bounds – according to estimates published by American media, in less than a month the US has spent about $1 billion on the campaign against the Houthis, thereby exhausting its “internal credit” for pacifying Iranian proxies.

This, in turn, will force the Pentagon to ask Congress for additional funding, something the Republican's opponents will not fail to take advantage of.

Moreover, even the use of advanced strike weapons, be it Northrop B-2 Spirit strategic bombers, bunker busters, or other precision-guided munitions, cannot turn the tide in Washington’s favor.

The Houthis not only maintain high combat capability, continuing to threaten the American fleet in the Red Sea, but also manage to periodically “blind” aerial reconnaissance: the number of MQ-9 reconnaissance drones shot down by Ansar Allah is approaching two dozen.

The Trump administration, apparently, has not yet figured out how to break out of the impasse, and therefore continues to rain threats on Ansar Allah, promising to switch to a “round-the-clock” bombing regime and “raze to the ground” all Houthi fortifications.

However, given the lack of adequate intelligence, even with this approach the US will hardly be able to reach the movement’s leadership.

#1  "The US leadership is looking for quick victories in Yemen – but instead it is running into new grounds for criticism..." That is one way of looking at it. On the other hand if the US does nothing, OR any action at all, there is heckling from the peanut gallery.

#3  The problem does not have a quick solution. Besides nuking Iran, I mean. Iran will continue feeding war stuff to the Houthis who will fire it off as we continue to blow up said stuff & Houthis. It is a process.

Soviet submarine 'Malyutka' that sank in 1941 was found in Peter the Great Bay
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] In Peter the Great Bay, the Pacific Fleet (PF) military, with the support of veterans' organizations, discovered a Malyutka-class submarine that sank in 1941. This was reported on April 7 by the fleet's press service.

“As a result of a long search by the Pacific Fleet with the active support of veteran organizations of submariners, a Malyutka-type submarine that sank during the Great Patriotic War was discovered in Peter the Great Bay,” the statement said.

It is noted that the discovered submarine is, preliminarily, the submarine "M-49" of the Pacific Fleet, which sank on August 16, 1941. Then the entire crew perished - 22 people. In addition to the submarine "M-49", a submarine of the "M-63" type sank in Peter the Great Bay. The search for the boats began 20 years ago with the help of the research sailing vessel "Iskra", the hydrographic vessel "Vice-Admiral Vorontsov" and other vessels of the fleet.

The vessel Igor Belousov was able to determine the type of submarine; its sailors measured the shape and parameters of the submarine using underwater remotely controlled vehicles, coming to the conclusion that the discovered boat was the Malyutka.

The submarines sank in August 1941 while on a combat mission. They were named for their compact size, which allowed them to be transported by rail without being completely disassembled.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier in Germany, 47-year-old historian Mirko Kühn claimed to have discovered a secret aircraft hangar that was built by the Nazis using prisoner-of-war labor. It was noted that the length of the discovered hangar was 200 meters, the width was 25 meters, and the height was at least five meters. According to Kühn, the hangar could accommodate about 10 aircraft with bomb protection. The historian identified the entrances to the supposed hangar building using old aerial photographs. Kühn himself has been exploring the forests of Thuringia for more than 10 years.

In addition, in 2011, just a few hundred meters from the supposed hangar location, a mass grave containing the bodies of 66 Soviet prisoners of war was discovered. As Kuehn suggested, the Nazis used Soviet soldiers as forced laborers to build the underground hangar.

How Jeffrey Goldberg Got In the Signal Group Chat
[PJMEDIA] The White House explained that a number was mistakenly saved during a ''contact suggestion update'' on then-Rep. Michael Waltz's iPhone. This feature automatically adds a new number to an existing contact if the phone's algorithm detects a possible connection. The error went unnoticed until March, when Waltz tried to add a contact to a Signal group chat but accidentally included the number of Jeffrey Goldberg instead. This led to Goldberg being added to a sensitive message chain discussing U.S. plans for strikes against the Houthis.

President Trump chose not to fire Waltz partly because he didn't want The Atlantic and the broader media to take satisfaction in pushing out a top cabinet member so soon into his second term. Trump was also reassured by the findings of an internal investigation. ''Waltz also appears to have also engendered some sympathy from inside Trump's orbit over the group chat because the White House had authorized the use of Signal, largely because there is no alternative platform to text in real time across different agencies,'' the report explained.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser says Trump's military parade should be 'accompanied with many millions of dollars to repair the roads'
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has said that if the Trump administration plans to have a military parade in the nation's capital, that the parade should be "accompanied with millions and millions of dollars to repair the roads."

Reports have indicated President Donald Trump
...Never got invited to a P.Diddy party...
is planning on hosting a military parade in Washington, DC on June 14 to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army as well as his 79th birthday. Bowser was asked about the reports during a presser.

She was asked by a news hound, "The first time that the President was in office, he had talked about military tanks running down Pennsylvania Avenue. There was some pushback from the city. Yeah. Would you have the same kind of pushback?"

"Yeah, military tanks on our streets would not be good. If military tanks were used they should be accompanied with many millions of dollars to repair the roads. ... The other thing I'll note is, I think our initial report is that it would be starting from Virginia, from Arlington," Bowser said.

The news hound noted that the parade would be starting at the Pentagon in Arlington, and the mayor said that Department of Homeland Security had "reached out" to the special events taskforce, which is in charge of events such as parades.

Arlington County Board Chair Takis Karantonis said of the plans regarding the military parade, "It's not clear to me what the scope of a parade would be. But I would hope the federal government remains sensitive to the pain and concerns of numerous [military] veteran residents who have lost or might lose their jobs in recent federal decisions, as they reflect on how best to celebrate the Army's anniversary."

Is President Trump Planning a Military Parade for Army's 250th Birthday? Here's what we know

[CommonDefense] President Donald Trump appears to be planning a military parade in Washington, D.C., that would celebrate both the 250th anniversary of the United States Army and his own 79th birthday on June 14th.

The move has already drawn sharp criticism from familiar corners of the media and the political class, but for many conservatives, it reflects a patriotic commitment to honoring the men and women who defend this nation.

According to a report from Washington City Paper, Arlington County Board Chair Takis Karantonis
…immigrant Greek-American with an MA in economics from Berlin’s Freie Universität and a whole bunch of languages, suggesting high likelihood he is a Progressive even before his snide comments about the president…
disclosed that the White House had given local officials a “heads up” about a possible military parade stretching four miles through the capital.

While no official announcement has been made, Karantonis noted the early warning came last Friday.

“It’s not clear to me what the scope of a parade would be,” Karantonis said.

“But I would hope the federal government remains sensitive to the pain and concerns of numerous [military] veteran residents who have lost or might lose their jobs in recent federal decisions, as they reflect on how best to celebrate the Army’s anniversary.”

The criticism is not unexpected. The mainstream media and progressive commentators have long framed any display of military strength as dangerous or authoritarian—especially when associated with Donald Trump.

Fifth Column
American billionaire granted USAID funds for Gaza project allegedly funneled cash to Hamas for 'terror tunnels'
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] In a bombshell lawsuit, Paleostinian-American billionaire Bashar Masri
…sometimes Bashar al Masri, which suggests that at some point his family was in Egypt, but he’s from Nablus in the West Bank. As a boy he amused himself throwing stones at Israeli soldiers and organizing demonstrations, leading him to being jailed eight times before graduating high school, so his father sent him to Egypt to finish school far from such temptations, followed by a degree in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech…
is being accused of using United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and international-funded Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
infrastructure projects to help Paleostinian Lions of Islam build their terror tunnel network.

According to a lawsuit filed on Monday on behalf of American October 7 massacre victims by law firms Osen LLC, Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Stein Mitchell Beato & Missner LLP, and Motley Rice LLC, in 2021, Masri allegedly rebuilt the Gaza Industrial Estate (GIE), a 480,000 square meter industrial park that had been established in 1997 with support from USAID, turning it into a hub of Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
operations including for the terrorist tunnel network, which was used to cross under the border to attack Israelis.

"Above ground, the GIE was a showcase for legitimate businesses like Coca-Cola and a variety of light manufacturing companies," the suit stated. "But beneath the surface, Masri and the companies he controls worked with Hamas to construct and conceal an elaborate subterranean attack tunnel network which Hamas used to burrow under the border into Israel, to attack nearby Israeli communities, and to ambush Israeli military personnel. Hamas also used the GIE to probe the border fence and test the IDF's response times and countermeasures in the lead up to the October 7 Attack."

The lawsuit claimed that Masri in May 2022 "personally presided over the signing of a joint venture agreement with Hamas to rebuild parts of the GIE," with Hamas manufacturing division commander and economy minister Abd al-Fattah al-Zari'I, who was killed in an Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in August for his role in organizing terrorist operations and seizing humanitarian aid, attending the signing representing Hamas.

Clearly an unexpected development. This was published in the Jerusalem Post a mere month ago:
Bashar Masri’s quiet role in Trump’s post-war Gaza plans
Palestinian billionaire Bashar Masri is advising Trump’s special envoy Adam Boehler on Gaza’s future.
More from the Times of Israel at 12:30 p.m ET:
The plaintiffs were around 200 American victims of the October 7 attack and their family members, including the families of slain hostages Hersh Goldberg-Polin and Itay Chen, and Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the US, whose son was killed in Gaza in November 2023.

The lawsuit did not say that Masri knew about the October 7 attack, but it did assert that he was aware that Hamas was using his properties for military purposes.

The lawsuit said that Masri held longtime animosity toward Israel, including by helping plan the First Intifada. He sought to remake himself as a businessperson after moving to the US and investing in development projects in Palestinian areas, but continued “conspiring with Hamas” to build infrastructure used in the October 7 attack and provided cover for the terror group’s “true violent aims,” the lawsuit said. Masri used his image to solicit investments from US institutions, the World Bank, the United Nations and the European Union, it alleged.

Some of Masri’s development projects appeared to be legitimate, but were also used to build and hide Hamas tunnels, store rockets, host Hamas leaders, train Hamas operatives, and produce electricity for Hamas tunnels, the case said.

The lawsuit focused on the Gaza Industrial Estate, a 480,000-square-meter industrial park across the border from Kibbutz Nahal Oz, one of the hardest-hit communities in the October 7 attack. Masri regularly visited the property after it housed Hamas tunnels and weaponry. Masri’s companies later condemned Israel for striking the properties, despite knowing they were used by Hamas, the lawsuit said.

Masri also oversaw two luxury hotels in Gaza that Hamas, including its late chief Yahya Sinwar, used to host events. The terror group’s tunnels ran underneath, and were connected to, the hotels, the suit said. One of the hotels, the Blue Beach, was allegedly connected by tunnel to a Hamas training facility. The terror group used the hotels as a base of operations and to ambush IDF troops, the lawsuit said.

Massive win for Trump as Supreme Court rules he CAN deport illegal migrants
[Daily Mail, were America gets its news] President Donald Trump scored a huge win in his efforts to deport migrants living in the United States illegally with a major Supreme Court ruling on Monday.

The country's highest court, in an unsigned 5 - 4 ruling, ruled that the Trump administration can invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members.

Trump had declared that members of the Tren de Aragua gang were terrorists, and his border czar Tom Homan spectacularly rounded up suspected gangsters across the United States last month to send them back to 'hell hole' prisons in Venezuela.

But the president's efforts were halted on March 15 when Obama-appointed US District Court Judge James Boasberg issued an injunction blocking the deportations.

That injunction has now been lifted under the Supreme Court's ruling - allowing the president to once again send suspected gang members to their home countries.

Trump hailed the ruling as a 'GREAT DAY FOR JUSTICE IN AMERICA' in a post on his Truth Social page Monday night.

'The Supreme Court has upheld the Rule of Law in our Nation by allowing a President, whoever that may be, to be able to secure our Borders and protect our families and our Country, itself,' he wrote.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi similarly hailed the court's decision on Monday as 'a landmark victory for the rule of law' and criticized Boasberg as an activist judge who exceeded his powers.

'The Department of Justice will continue fighting in court to make America safe again,' she said in a social media post.

Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act last month to swiftly deport the alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang, attempting to speed up removals with a law best known for its use to intern Japanese, Italian and German immigrants during World War Two.

He had claimed that members of the gang were 'conducting irregular warfare and undertaking hostile actions against the United States' with the goal of destabilizing the nation.

But Boasberg quickly fought back - ruling that the Alien Enemies Act 'does not provide a basis for the president's proclamation given that the terms invasion, predatory incursion really relate to hostile acts perpetrated by any nation and commensurate to war.'

The liberal judge also said that he needed to issue his order immediately because the government already was flying migrants it claimed were newly deportable under Trump's proclamation to be incarcerated in a notorious El Salvador prison called the Terrorism Confinement Center.

The Trump administration, though, has claimed that the flights had already left US airspace by the time Boasberg issued a written order and were therefore not required to return.

Lawyers with the Justice Department dismissed the weight of Boasberg's spoken order calling for any planes carrying deportees to be turned around.

In court documents urging the Supreme Court to overturn Boasberg's order, the Trump administration also argued that Boasberg's temporary ban encroached on presidential authority to make national security decisions.

It said the judge had 'rebuffed' Trump's immigration agenda, including the president's ability 'to protect the Nation against foreign terrorist organizations and risk debilitating effects for delicate foreign negotiations,' Fox News reports.

'This case presents fundamental questions about who decides how to conduct sensitive national security-related operations in this country - the President, through Article II, or the Judiciary, through [temporary restraining orders],' lawyers for the Justice Department wrote in their March 28 application to Chief Justice John Roberts - who handles emergency litigation coming out of DC.

'The Constitution supplies a clear answer: the President. The republic cannot afford a different choice,' they argued.

Opposing the government's application were a group of Venezuelan men in custody of US immigration authorities.

They argued that if Boasberg's injunction were to be lifted they 'will suffer extraordinary and irreparable harms - being sent out of the United States to a notorious Salvadoran prison, where they will remain incommunicado, potentially for the rest of their lives, without having had any opportunity to contest their designation as gang members,' NBC News reports.

The plaintiffs' family members have denied their alleged gang ties - with lawyers for one of the deportees, a Venezuelan professional soccer player and youth coach, saying U.S. officials had wrongly labeled him a gang member based on a tattoo of a crown meant to honor his favorite team, Real Madrid.

But in Monday's decision, the court's majority said it was not resolving the validity of the administration's reliance on the 18th century law to carry out deportations.

The plaintiffs in the case 'challenge the government's interpretation of the Act and assert that they do not fall within the category of removable alien enemies. But we do not reach those arguments,' the majority wrote.

It instead emphasized that it was deciding that any challenges to deportation under the Alien Enemies Act must be brought in the federal court district where the migrants are detained, meaning that the proper venue for challenges would be Texas - not DC.

At the same time, the majority placed limits on how deportations may occur - emphasizing that judicial review is required.

It said that detainees 'must receive notice after the date of this order that they are subject to removal under the Act.

'The notice must be afforded within a reasonable time and in such a manner as will allow them to actually seek habeas relief in the proper venue before such removal occurs.'

Those who dissented with the court's decision were conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett and the court's three liberal justices.

In her dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor called her colleague's conclusion 'suspect.'

She said the court granted the government 'extraordinary relief' and did so 'without mention of the grave harm Plaintiffs will face if they are erroneously removed to El Salvador or regard for the Government's attempts to subvert the judicial process throughout this litigation.'

Others have argued that Trump's order exceeded his powers because the Alien Enemies Act authorizes removals only when war has been declared or the United States has been invaded.

The law specifically authorizes the president to deport, detain or place restrictions on individuals whose primary allegiance is to a foreign power and who might pose a national security risk in wartime.

Amid the questions over the legality of the Alien Enemies Act, Trump called for Boasberg's impeachment by Congress - a process that could remove him from the bench - drawing a rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Trump on social media called Boasberg, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2011 in a bipartisan 96-0 vote, a 'Radical Left Lunatic' and a 'troublemaker and agitator.'

Meanwhile, Boasberg is continuing to weigh whether to bring potential contempt charges against administration officials for sending the plane of alleged gangsters to El Salvador despite his order.

A preliminary injunction hearing in that case is set for Tuesday.

#3  A closer reading is that the court punted, saying the DC court lacked jurisdiction and the plaintiffs should have filed in Texas where they were detained.

I suspect the court is starting to get nervous about its integrity getting bashed with all the TROs which have no basis in Article III nor federal statutes but rather a power it granted itself.

The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 was upheld by SCOTUS in Ludecke v. Watkins, 335 U.S. 160 (1948) which recognized the Alien Enemy Act precludes judicial review of a removal order.

Given that the gangs are on the official State Department list of Terrorist Organizations, their incursion is no different that that of the Apache or Poncho Villa from Mexico, aka acts of war.

#4  "The Alien Enemies Act granted the government additional powers to regulate non-citizens that would take effect in times of war.Under this law, the president could authorize the arrest, relocation, or deportation of any male over the age of 14 who hailed from a foreign enemy country. It also provided some legal protections for those subject to the law."

I see quite a few problems here. The United States is not at war with Venezuela. If it were it could technically deport ALL (male) Venezuelan citizens including those who reside in the U.S. legally. The United States would still have to establish that those people are indeed Venezuelan citizens who fall under this act.

The argument now is that Tren de Aragua is sort of a terrorist force sponsored by Venezuela "invading" the U.S., and this would trigger the Alien Enemies Act.

Does this equal war with Venezuela hence justifying the deportation of ALL Venezuelan citizens (inclusing those residing in the U.S. legally, with a Green Card)?

Or does it only concern (presumed) members of TdA? If so, wouldn't the government need to establish that those to be deported are IN FACT members of TdA, as it would have to establish that Venezuelan nationals are indeed Venezuelan nationals?

Because if it is not required to do that, it could deport ANYONE it wanted without any due process, including ANY foreigner of ANY nation who lives in the U.S. legally. And if "errors" occurred, the government would just say: Oops, not my bad?

Do you really want this?

#16  The United States is not at war with Venezuela.

Depends on how you define war. You might be excused from thinking that a formal declaration by Congress is required. But our congress critters don't have the guts to declare war anymore. The last time they did it was in 1941 and we have fought a lot of wars since then.

IIRC, they called the Korean War a "police action". Ask any veteran of that war what they think it was.

Lyndon Johnson never got a formal declaration of war against North Vietnam. Instead, he got Congress to pass the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. He used that fig leaf to wage a full scale war in Vietnam.

In 1990 President George Bush invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to go to war against Iraq. That's how presidents do it these days.

Further, many wars these days are asymmetrical in nature. Often, non-state actors will commit acts of terrorism against the civilized world as the Houthis are doing in Yemen. You think we should allow Houthis to remain in our country?

We have the Chinese conspiring with Mexican drug cartels to smuggle fentanyl into our country causing upwards of 100,000 overdose deaths a year. You can call it crime if you want. Of course the Chinese and Mexican governments won't admit complicity but I'd call it war.

Then you have chickenshit dictators like Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela who could never win on a conventional battlefield against the United States so they send gangsters into our country to wreak havoc with illegal narcotics and other criminal activity.

When Biden was president and Texas governor Abbot was resisting the influx of illegal aliens across the Rio Grande River, one news report included pictures of a gang waving a Venezuelan flag on the Mexican side of the river and just waiting for a chance to cross it. I'm no lawyer but it looked like war to me.

#17  A person with a green card is not a visitor. This person has rights. If you want to kick this person out, it should be with due process.
Posted by: European Conservative || 04/08/2025 13:09 Comments || Top||

#18  Yeah, and we don't have the time or money to give millions of illegal aliens their day in court. We just don't. And when a problem gets too big for the judicial system, it seems reasonable to treat it as a war.

Just because they're not invading our country with assault rifles, tanks and war planes doesn't mean it's not an invasion.
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 04/08/2025 13:24 Comments || Top||

#19  If you have a Green Card and you behave yourself you'll probably be OK. But we have people here with visas who were stirring up trouble on college campuses, violating our laws and the rights of our citizens. We don't have to tolerate that. We can revoke the visas and send those people home. It is a privilege for people to come here with Green Cards or visas, not a right.

#20  Your Rights as a Permanent Resident

As a permanent resident (Green Card holder), you have the right to:

Live permanently in the United States provided you do not commit any actions that would make you removable under immigration law

Work in the United States at any legal work of your qualification and choosing. (Please note that some jobs will be limited to U.S. citizens for security reasons)

Be protected by all laws of the United States, your state of residence and local jurisdictions.

I agree that GETTING a green card is a privilege, not a right. KEEPING it is a different manner. Since I'm protected by all laws of the United States, my state of residence and local jurisdictions, the United States is required to make its case to prove that I violated "any immigration law". And I have the right to my day in court.

Would you agree with that?

#21  If you clicked on site classification in #5 it is the State Department official list of Terrorist Organizations. If you read that, it shows Tren de Aragua and the Cartels are there for all to see. No different than ISIS. They have no judicial appeal per the Alien Enemies Act. Period.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 04/08/2025 14:10 Comments || Top||

#22  The Tren de Aragua soldiers did not suddenly go bad after they arrived here legally and got a permanent residency green card. Rather, they lied on their application about their affiliation. It’s my understanding that once that significant falsehood has been determined by the immigration authorities, the approval is invalidated, making them resident in the country illegally and subject to expulsion. That’s very different than being arrested for driving drunk once here, or even for murder or rape after permanent residency has been approved, which do indeed merit a proper trial and conviction.

US judge won't immediately toss Trump deportations case despite Supreme Court action
Posted by: Beavis || 04/08/2025 14:47 Comments || Top||

#24  No, that's not what the Act says. It says this (emphasis mine):

"Whenever there is a declared war between the United States and any foreign nation or government, or any invasion or predatory incursion is perpetrated, attempted, or threatened against the territory of the United States by any foreign nation or government, and the President makes public proclamation of the event, all natives, citizens, denizens, or subjects of the hostile nation or government, being of the age of fourteen years and upward, who shall be within the United States and not actually naturalized, shall be liable to be apprehended, restrained, secured, and removed as alien enemies."

Now it's quite a stretch to define the existence of TdA as an "invasion by any foreign nation or government", but if - for the sake of the argument - we accept this as a fact, then not only members of TdA are removable without judiciary review, ALL citizens (or "natives") of Venezuela are removable without judiciary review, even legal residents who've never broken any law. And they could be deported to a Salvadorian prison in the middle of the night.

And if you declare Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups perpetrating an invasion, the Act would apply to all Mexican citizens.

And let's say it did, would the government be entitled to deport ALLEGED Venezuelan or Mexican citizens, or would it at least have to prove that you actually are a citizen of Venezuela or Mexico?

But if the Act only applied to members of TdA or a Mexican drug cartel, would it also apply to ALLEGED members of said groups? Without giving the person to be deported the right to contest this allegation at court?

If you say such a right doesn't exist, then no right exists. For nobody. The government decides that you are what it thinks you are, and off you go to a prison in a foreign land.

"Rather, they lied on their application about their affiliation. It’s my understanding that once that significant falsehood has been determined by the immigration authorities, the approval is invalidated, making them resident in the country illegally and subject to expulsion."

Are you saying that the immigration authorities may just "determine" that without the individual having the right to challenge this determination legally?

#26  EC, I admire your commitment to truth and the rule of law. That said, exigent circumstances can exist that require swift executive action, prior to scheduled and often slow judicial process. Ex post facto proceedings may then remedy a wrong that lacked specific malice, and maintain the overall rule of law. Surely you can conceded the illegal immigration threat to American economic well-being and sovereignty is a dire one that requires broad, sweeping action that will have, sadly, individual mistakes requiring remediation afterwards? Perhaps this is just such a case?

#28  Are you saying that the immigration authorities may just "determine" that without the individual having the right to challenge this determination legally?

Certainly they might challenge, European Conservative. They may just have to do it from outside the country — bureaucracy versus police. It is no trivial thing to lie on a visa application. Or even just to be suspected of telling less than the complete truth. I once wanted to bring our Czech Haustochter with us on a vacation to America, a matter of some two or three weeks. When I went to the embassy in Frankfurt a.M. to get her a tourist visa, the clerk mistakenly concluded that Hana meant to run off illegally after arrival, and not only refused to issue the thing but put a note in her file that kept her out of America until she married an American citizen whom she’d met at a professional conference in Canada some years later.

#29  @tw
With all respect, but this is a different matter, right or wrong. You have no "right" to enter the U.S., but once you have been granted the right to enter and stay, you must be able to defend that right. And I quoted the info given by U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services who say exactly this.

So if the U.S. government at some point thinks you may have lied to them, it should be possible to challenge this in a U.S. court, not at some point later outside the country, when all the damage has already been done.

Which also answers the thoughtful question of NoMoreBS. I think a state adhering to the rule of law cannot allow legal shortcuts claiming some "emergency". Even the worst offender is entitled to the rule of law. Because if he isn't, nobody is.

And in the case of that Salvadorian "erroneosly" deported into that megaprison, the government even seems to say: Oops, nothing we can do about it.

We certainly agree that murder or rape are grave problems. That doesn't mean we should just convict anyone we suspect of having committed murder or rape and, well, if some people turn out to be innocent, we can correct this later (maybe). No, we insist on "beyond any reasonable doubt", not on "he probably, likely did it".

Immigration law may have standards which are somewhat less strict, but deporting someone into a Salvadorian prison (which btw is a lot different from just sending someone back to his home country) without giving him the possibility to legally challenge this decision is a very dangerous slippery slope.

#31  EC, I think you are putting too much emphasis on the Green Card situation...just like our own main stream media. They go on and on about one guy who might have been deported mistakenly but they don't have much to say about Laken Riley and she's not the only victim of Joe Biden's border policies. Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is the people getting deported are here illegally which means they don't have Green Cards. Those guys with the shaved heads and full body tattoos are not here to do honest work.

Mistakes might be made but how about, if for the sake of national security, we err on the side of safety?

For one thing, like I said, we have untold millions of people in this country right now who don't belong here. Most of them are probably decent people but we just don't know and it is not practical to process them all through the judicial system. Just imagine the outcry if we incarcerated all those millions of people while they wait for their day in court. When problem is too big for the judicial system, whether you admit it or not, it's war.

Further, you argue that the invasions are not being perpetrated by foreign governments. Maybe we can't prove that Claudia Sheinbaum and Nicholas Maduro are deliberately sending these people into our country. But we don't know for certain that they're not. Here again, it's gotten to the point that we must act as if they are and if we're wrong we err on the side of safety. The safety of our own citizens is more important than the safety of illegal aliens. Our sovereignty is more important.

You remember seeing reports of all those caravans? Thousands of people moving in groups through Mexico on their way to our country. Somebody organized those caravans and paid lots of money so those people could eat and sleep while in transit. Maybe the governments of Mexico and Venezuela didn't pay for it. Hell, it might have been George Soros. I even heard reports that some of the money comes from the UN. It doesn't matter. Again, I'm no lawyer. But as far as I'm concerned, that's an act of war and we have a right to fight back.

#33  I think it is a pretty easy case to make that TdA is a government, which puts itself if not above then certainly apart from the government of Venezuela, making its members citizens of TdA, something different than citizens of Venezuela, and being designated a terrorist organization by the USA, the USA is at war with TdA therefore Tda citizens can be sent off.

I mean, to call all Mexicans cartel members is a bit much, a bit cringe. Not all Syrians are ISIS members, right? But ISIS is a bit different than the government of Syria, its own rules and laws and taxes and behavioral understanding and law enforcement, so forth.

And, I quest, is if Russia is an officially declared terrorist organization, disturber of the peace if you will, of the EU?

#37  Trump to Spend $45B Expanding Facilities for Illegal Migrant Detention

That's a helluva lotta money to have to pay to incarcerate these people so they can have their day in court. I assume it's for run-of-the-mill illegal aliens and not the violent gangsters. So it seems they will not be deported without a trial. That's a heavy burden for any country to bear, especially one that's already $36 trillion in debt.

Cyber
Alliance of pro-Russia and pro-Palestine hackers who despise western values hits UK army, navy and nuclear security office with cyberattacks
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The British Army, Royal Navy, and the Office for Nuclear Security have been hit with cyberattacks by an alliance of pro-Russian and pro-Palestinian hackers, it has emerged.

The simultaneous attacks targeting the agencies' websites were carried out last month, hacker Mr Hamza claimed on the Holy League coalition's Telegram Channel.

'Our message is clear: this is just a warning … and worse is yet to come,' the pro-Palestine hacker, who is believed to be based in Morocco, posted.

The Holy League coalition is comprised of roughly 90 'hacktivist' groups that are unified by their despisal for western values and have vowed to 'wage cyberware' against Ukraine, Israel and their allies.

The coalition reportedly includes hackers trained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and groups who work alongside Russian intelligence.

Britain has become a bigger target after having taken a more prominent leadership role in support of Ukrainian troops over the last months, analysts told The Times.

GCHQ recently issued a warning about the 'stark increase' in threats from state-aligned hacktivists looking to target Britain's critical infrastructure systems.

The majority of attacks are rudimentary distributed denial of service (DDoS) strikes that overwhelm a website or online server with traffic to make it inaccessible.

Experts note that DDoS attacks are relatively 'low impact', typically lasting just a few minutes, but can cause significant disruption to a website's services and interfere with its defences, making it easier to hack into the site.

The alliance is reportedly launching weekly cyberattacks against the UK's state agencies, armed forces, infrastructure operators, councils and security services, including the MI6 website which was allegedly targeted in March.

National Highways, the North East Combined Authority and several local councils were attacked by Holy League member NoName057(16) in January after Britain and Ukraine signed a 100-year partnership.

The alliance also launched a wave of attacks targeting the UK in December last year as retaliation for Ukraine's use of British Storm Shadow missiles, according to the Times.

The Holy League was created last summer by Abu Omar, a cybercriminal and leader of the Cyber Islamic Resistance.

In an interview with Kremlin-backed state media last November, Omar revealed that he works with partners from Russia, Belarus, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria, as well as with 'my brothers in the Middle East'.

He also claimed that the Cyber Islamic Resistance had been trained by an IRGC militia group in Iraq called the Badr Organisation.

Omar told the outlet that he wants the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza to 'end with the destruction of the 'Evil Empire', including Ukraine, Israel and NATO'.

The Holy League has claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting intelligence services across Europe. The group supports its claims by providing evidence from 'check host' links that demonstrates how long a site was down for.

Members of the Cyber Army of Russian Reborn (Carr), which is believed to working for the Russian military intelligence agency's cyberwarfare unit, are understood to be part of the Holy League.

Carr members Yuliya Pankratova and Denis Degtyarenko, both Russian nationals, were sanctioned by the US government in July 2024 after they allegedly hacked into water facilities in the US and Poland. The pair also allegedly disrupted operations at a facility in France.

Carr and a hacker known as NoName057(16), whom Ukrainian intelligence have identified as Pankratova's husband Artem, attacked the M6 toll road in Britain on December 6 last year.

A UK Government spokesperson said in a statement to The Times that it does not 'routinely comment on cyberactivity claimed by online groups'.

'The government is committed to using all of its levers to disrupt cyberthreats and to keep the public safe,' the statement added. MailOnline has approached authorities for comment.

Victoria Spartz says Ukraine should consider giving up land, slams Zelensky at town halls
If we let Putin keep the Sudeten, it will lead to Peace in Our Time.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Despite being told to not attend town halls amid protests, Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) did not take a break last weekend. Instead, the Ukrainian-born Indiana congresswoman showed up and took tough questions from voters, some of whom were angry at her over her support for Trump and comments on Ukraine. She held another town hall the next day.

Spartz, the only member of Congress born in the embattled country, did not hold back in a recent interview with The Telegraph before the town halls, she said Ukraine might have to accept losing territory to Russia if it wants to avoid total collapse.

"I just don't see how they (Ukraine) can be positioned to demand to keep the land. If they would be winning the war, that will be very different,'' Spartz said. She backed Trump's idea of negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
and criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying, ''There are no easy solutions.''

Trump says furniture makers coming back to North Carolina as Canadian company moves to state
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Trump has applauded furniture makers moving production to the US amid tariffs, with one company closing its Canadian production facility and shifting all production to the United States, while a North Carolina furniture maker is closing its doors due to ongoing production issues with its main supplier in Mexico, among other issues.

"Those tariffs, next year will make us $1 trillion. In addition to the $1 trillion, thousands of companies are gonna relocate back into the United States. In North Carolina, already furniture people are starting to move back in," Trump said.

Progressive Furniture, a subsidiary of Sauder Woodworking and importer of "budget friendly" furniture from Asia and Mexico, will be closing at the end of the year and laying off around 30 employees, per Furniture Today.

President of the company, Dan Kendrick, told the outlet, "This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees, customers and partners. We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition and will aid where possible to help them find new opportunities."

The closure of the company was blamed on multiple issues, but mainly on the closure of the company's primary supplier in Mexico. Kendrick said, "Obviously, business conditions have been challenging for the past few years, but the closure of our primary supplier in Mexico has made a major impact. This factory supplied 60% of our products."

According to Home News Now, the company's main supplier, Baja Wood, was based in Rosarito, Mexico. In January, around 60 of Baja Wood's 320 employees protested outside of the factory over reduced hours. The factory was shut down as government officials investigated the claims, which required a lengthy interview process. At the end of the investigation, the plant owner decided not to reopen. Baja Wood and Progressive furniture were closely intertwined, with the US company receiving over 50 percent of its wood furniture from the Mexico plant, and Progressive being the plant's primary customer in the US.

Fundraiser for suspect in stabbing death of Texas teen rakes in over $160,000

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] A fundraiser for the 17-year-old who reportedly admitted to fatally stabbing Austin Metcalf at a Texas track meet has now raised over $160,000 in total donations on GiveSendGo.

Last week, there were multiple GoFundMe webpages that were set up, raising over $16,000 before multiple were taken offline. At the same time, a GiveSendGo that has remained active has raised over $160,000 to support murder suspect Karmelo Anthony and his family.

As of Monday morning, the fundraiser had amassed over $161,000 and the goal has been set to $200,000. Anthony has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond in Collin County Jail.

The GiveSendGo webpage reads, "This is the Official Support Fund for Karmelo and his family during this challenging and difficult time. The narrative being spread is false, unjust, and harmful. As a family of faith, we are deeply grateful for all of your support during this trying period. Your prayers and assistance mean more to us now more than ever."

Last week, it was reported that Metcalf saw Anthony under his team's tent at a Texas track meet and as a result, a confrontation occurred. Witnesses said that Anthony was told to leave by Metcalf after he walked over to the tent and then Anthony reached in his bag, telling Metcalf, "Touch me and see what happens." One witness said that Metcalf touched Anthony, another said he grabbed him, and then Anthony stabbed Metcalf and ran off, later telling police that he "did it" but said that he thought it was self-defense.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 7, 2025
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:10 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky heard a report from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky. He spoke about the situation at the front and the operation of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia. This was reported in the evening address of the head of state.

18.50 In March, more than 77 thousand hostile targets were hit and destroyed using drones of various types. This is 10% more than in February, said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky, publishing a video of the combat work of Ukrainian UAVs.

17.08 Since the beginning of the day, 77 combat clashes have occurred on the front. Russian invaders are active in the Pokrovsky and Limansky directions. At the same time, there have been no battles in three directions yet. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an operational summary as of 16:00.

16.47 A Russian informant who spied on the ships of the Defense Forces near the Nikolaev seaport has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The suspect was detained at his place of residence in Nikolaev in early 2024 when he returned from a reconnaissance mission.

15:28 China continues to insist that "only dialogue and negotiations are the only way out of the "Ukrainian crisis", despite the massive shelling by the Russian Federation and the killing of Ukrainian children and civilians. This was stated by the spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, at a briefing."

14:59 Ukraine initiated a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on Tuesday, April 8, in the context of the Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. This was reported by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna Yuriy Vitrenko.

"At the request of Ukraine, in response to the bloody Russian missile attack against children and adults in Krivoy Rog, as well as the escalation of Russian terror against civilians throughout Ukraine, tomorrow (08.04) the OSCE is convening an emergency special session of the Permanent Council," he wrote on Facebook.

14:30 Soldiers from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense destroyed Russian tactical-level drones in the skies over eastern Ukraine.

The Wings' specialized unit carried out successful operations to destroy drones in the air.

The video released by the military shows the moment of the destruction of enemy UAVs in the skies over the Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions, in particular, in the Pokrovsk direction.

Eight enemy drones were destroyed:

Zala – two units;
Supercam – five units;
Orlan – one unit.

13:33 A Russian serviceman who committed a war crime in the form of sexual violence against a 13-year-old girl in the temporarily occupied Mykolaiv region has been identified and has been placed on suspicion. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

13:30 The Security Service has exposed new arsonists who, on instructions from Russia, were operating in the northern and central regions of Ukraine. The youngest of the suspects was only 12 years old, the oldest was 16. All of them were local schoolchildren and students who were "hooked" by Russian special services while looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels.

After drawing minors into subversive activities, the occupiers "aimed" them at destroying Ukrzaliznytsia relay cabinets. To commit arson, the defendants used flammable mixtures and then recorded the burning of damaged objects on video.

12:59 The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Ukrainian-made ground robotic complex D-21-12R. This was reported by the Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Weapons and Military Equipment.

The robot can perform a wide range of tasks on surveillance, patrolling, fire support for our units, and the destruction of enemy manpower and lightly armored vehicles.

12:54 The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has prepared a bill on demobilization. However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not support the document. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda on Monday, April 7.

"The bill on dismissal from service and rotation of fighters during martial law is already ready, representatives of the Ministry of Defense reported in response to a request from UP back in late January 2025. However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not support the document, so officials did not register it in parliament," the article says.

It is noted that if the Verkhovna Rada adopts this bill, a significant number of military personnel will have to be demobilized at once, which will lead to a significant reduction in the staffing of combat units. According to several interlocutors of UP in parliament, we are talking about 108 thousand soldiers, including 14 thousand officers.

Key provisions of the "demobilization" bill of the Ministry of Defense.

12:49 Russians continue to build a large landing ship in the occupied Crimea. This was reported by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Dmitry Pletenchuk on the air of Espresso.

We are talking about the universal landing ship Ivan Rogov. Its construction has not yet been completed, and it is still unclear whether the ship will be put into operation at all.

Russia continues to implement a number of military projects in the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to Pletenchuk, the Kremlin is trying to compensate for the lost "Mistrals" - helicopter carriers that France did not transfer due to sanctions.

12:09 In the Kirovograd region, in the Blagoveshchensk community, restoration work continues after the Russian missile strike on April 6. As a result of the attack, 52 houses were damaged. This was reported by the head of the Kirovograd OVA Andriy Raikovich.

10:35 Ukrainian military have destroyed three Russian anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) Buk of the Russian army in the Kursk region in 12 hours. This was reported by the Unmanned Systems Forces (Soon! S) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

10:16 Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented a series of terrorist attacks in the Poltava region. A Russian agent who was preparing explosions near local military and law enforcement administrative buildings was detained.

A woman received an order from Russia to carry out explosions near the district police department and the city's shopping mall during rush hour. The attacker was supposed to plant a homemade explosive device (IED) near the government agency.

At the time of mining the territory of the administrative building, the occupiers planned to detonate the explosives along with their agent. SBU officers exposed the enemy's intentions in advance and detained the terrorist.

09:30 US President Donald Trump said that Washington continues to talk with Russian representatives in order to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Trump said that he "does not like" the bombings and called on the Russians to stop them.

"We are talking to Russia. I do not like the bombings, the bombings go on and on, and thousands of young people die every week. We would like them to stop," the American leader said.

09:16 As of the morning of April 7, 33 residents of Kryvyi Rih are in hospitals, who were injured as a result of the Russian ballistic strike on the city on April 4. This was reported by the head of the city's Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, on Telegram.

"33 wounded after the attack on April 4 are now in hospitals, including four children. 18 wounded are in serious condition, including two children," he wrote.

08:30 Over the past 24 hours, 165 combat clashes have been recorded at the front. In the Pokrovsk direction, defenders have stopped 53 Russian attacks. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

08:18 In the village of Tokarovka Vtoraya in the Kharkiv region, a man was killed as a result of a strike by a Russian guided aerial bomb. This was reported by the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

"The occupiers dropped a UAB on the village of Tokarovka Vtoraya Dergachevskaya TO. As a result of the strike, a 48-year-old man died. Two women suffered an acute stress reaction," he wrote on Telegram.

07:55 As of April 7, 2025, the total combat losses of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine amounted to approximately 925,020 people (+1,350 per day).

07:20 American billionaire Elon Musk condemned the Russian-Ukrainian war and those who encourage it. According to him, this war looks "cruel, senseless and inhumane."

"President Trump is right: it's time to end this bloodshed. We should be concerned about the soldiers who are dying every day in the trenches in Ukraine and Russia. They are forced to kill each other without understanding the reasons and timing of this war. It's time to say - enough," the billionaire said.

02:07 Russians hit Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast with a drone. Six houses were damaged as a result of the fire.

01:03 Occupiers advanced near Zapadnoye (Kharkiv Oblast), in Lisovka and Razliv (Donetsk Oblast). This was reported by the Deep State project.

Josh Shapiro awards $5 MILLION grant to Al-Aqsa Islamic Society in Philadelphia to expand school, the largest ever awarded to a Muslim group
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has awarded Philadelphia's al-Aqsa Islamic Society a $5 million grant from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, marking the largest grant under the program awarded to a Moslem organization to date.

According to WHYY, Shapiro announced the grant at an iftar dinner on March 25 at the organization, telling a few dozen community members that organizations such as al-Aqsa "are more important than ever before" as "we're facing tumult overseas, and we're facing a lot of rising hate here at home."

Shapiro said, "So I'm really proud that we've been able to work together with your leaders here to invest $5 million in making this place an even greater center of activity in the community."

Chairman of the board of al-Aqsa Islamic Society Asif Hussain said that one goal for the funds is to expand the center's school. The group is looking to add classrooms and teachers to meet local demand, and increase attendance from 300 to 3,000.

Hussain said, "The idea is to have an academic center of excellence at school. We have a school that's K-12. It is very, very small and we have more candidates and more students than we have classrooms. So the idea would be to expand the facility and actually develop it into a full-fledged academic program."

Al-Aqsa Academy was established in 1996 and is a private Islamic day and weekend school that blends the standards kindergarten through 12th-grade curriculum with Koran classes, Islamic studies, and Arabic language coursework.

Liberal pundit wishes Biden DEAD in shocking post, as anger mounts over health lies that helped Trump win
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A liberal pundit who worked for the New York Times has sparked outrage after openly wishing for the death of former President Joe Biden in a shocking social media post.

Taylor Lorenz, who now contributes to former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan's website, expressed disappointment when she realized a false report about Biden's death wasn't true.
Taylor Lorenz is an awful human and any ill that befalls her is karma
The controversial journalist responded to a post falsely claiming 'RIP Joe Biden 1942-2025' by writing 'This tweet got my hopes up' followed by a sad face emoji.

The original post stated: 'You were always a racist f***ing monster, and will not be missed,' alongside an old photo of Biden.

'Buddy, he was a walking corpse in the White House. We all watched elder abuse in real time. The only person who wishes for Biden's death more than anyone else is Biden himself.'
Multiple new books have detailed how Democrats conspired to lie about the 82 year-old former president's declining health, only for it to be revealed at a June 2024 debate which forced Biden to step down and may have cost the party the election.

The message appeared to be based on Biden's policies on the Gaza war while president - an issue Lorenz has frequently criticized.

The post quickly went viral Sunday morning as horrified users shared screenshots of her disturbing comment.

A reporter for the Free Beacon retweeted her post, writing: 'A writer for @mehdirhasan publicly wishes death on President Biden.'

'She's just raw-dogging
…the internet defines it as having s3x without a condom, which I suppose is riskier and more abusive by some than others…
social media now,' one user commented.

Another commented: 'It's hard to find words that capture just how repugnant and detestable Taylor Lorenz can be.'

'Well he has always been a racist and not smart but, don't wish death on him, it'll come soon enough for him,' another user commented.

Some agreed with her shocking take: 'Buddy, he was a walking corpse in the White House. We all watched elder abuse in real time. The only person who wishes for Biden's death more than anyone else is Biden himself.'

Many slammed Hasan's media platform, saying they weren't surprised by Lorenz's comments after Hasan's own history of controversial comments.

'Mehdi Hasan's @zeteo_news has featured multiple writers who've expressed joy at the thought of dead Israelis. Now his writers are expressing the same about Americans-including a former U.S. president,' one user wrote.

In February, Hasan called for more plane crashes in America amid a spate of tragedies, then claimed he was a victim of Islamophobia after being condemned.

This isn't the first time Lorenz has courted controversy either.

She has built a reputation for divisive commentary during her time at both the New York Times and Washington Post. In December of last year, Lorenz doubled down on her unsympathetic comments she made about the death of UnitedHeath's CEO. oThe former Washington Post journalist sparked outrage after she appeared to celebrate Brian Thompson being gunned down in Manhattan.

Lorenz has since defended her sentiment in an interview with TMZ amid the backlash, telling critics it's important to consider context.

'Let me just be super clear. No, we should not murder CEOs. No, we should not go around shooting people in the street. That is the wrong lesson to take from this,' Lorenz said.

She said her social media posts aligned with the beliefs of America's masses.

'When you see the entire internet, left and right, united around one thing, and that is celebrating the death of a healthcare CEO, you have to ask why.

'UnitedHealthcare has murdered thousands of Americans by denying them coverage.

Trans Covenant School shooter referred to Columbine killers, herself as 'gods,' stated wish to 'kill all the white kids': report
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Journalist Megyn Kelly revealed on Monday that she had obtained over 1,000 pages of writings left behind by Nashville Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale,
…more fully Audrey Elizabeth Hale, unhappy former student of the Covenant School and wannabe fake boy, who was shot dead by police fourteen minutes after she started massacring students and staff to actualize her learnt hatred of whites, Christians, and all the usuals…
with the never-before-published pages providing "clear insight into the depraved mind of a killer."

On her morning show, Kelly read out portions of the writing, including a passage written in the one of the final pages before the attack that stated, "I have to kill so I can be remembered in the most horrific way possible that no one will ever forget," with Hale signing off under the name Aiden, Hale's preferred male name.

Kelly said the pages, which her team reviewed over the weekend, "detail a deeply disturbed individual planning meticulously over years to carry out a mass shooting and then kill herself. The killer discusses her autism diagnosis, race, and her desire for 'black love' and acceptance, as well as her hatred of her own whiteness."

Many pages had content that was "sexual in nature," including "frustration with her virginity," and also included information about Hale's guns and training with firearms, as well as references to other school shootings.

Kelly said that Hale referred to the Columbine school shooters as "gods," and the words "dark abyss" frequently pop up in the writings, either directly in the writings or in the margins, alongside "an image resembling a radioactive symbol, the logo created by the killer to represent her all-consuming depression and commitment to gaining notoriety via a mass shooting."

Economy
How actual 'fake news' sent Wall Street on a $2.4 trillion rollercoaster in just 15 minutes
[Daily Mail, where America get its news] Wall Street went on a $2.4 trillion joyride Monday— all because of a rogue tweet claiming that President Donald Trump might pause his punishing new tariffs for 90 days.

The massive swing played out in just 15 chaotic minutes before markets snapped back to reality.

The dizzying market U-turn exposed just how jittery Wall Street has become — where even a hint of hope sends stocks soaring, only for rumors to trigger a crash minutes later.

By the close, the Dow Jones was down 1 percent, the S&P 500 had slipped 0.2 percent, and the Nasdaq just green. It was hardly a good day on Wall Street — but it was far better than feared. At one point, there were whispers of a repeat of 1987's Black Monday.

In the morning, all three major U.S. indexes touched their lowest levels in more than a year, while the VIX — Wall Street's fear gauge — hit its highest level since August 2024.

It was fuelled by Trump doubling-down on his sweeping new tariffs. Mid morning, the President threatened to hike tariffs on China by an additional 50 percent.

Then came the twist. Stocks abruptly reversed course after White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett was reported as saying Trump was considering a tariff pause on all countries except China.

CNBC anchors read the headline live on air as they tried to make sense of the sudden market surge. In total, the S&P 500 jumped nearly 6 percent from its level just before the mysterious headline appeared.

The false tweet spread quickly on X and investors poured money into stocks on the news. Not long after, the White House shot it down — calling the delay 'fake news.'

Stocks slumped immediately on the administration's clarification and then whipsawed for an hour before settling down to be largely flat on the day.

The false posts appear to have stemmed from a real Fox News interview with Hassett around 8.30am ET.

When asked if Trump might consider a 90-day pause in tariffs, Hassett vaguely replied, 'The president is going to decide what the president is going to decide.'

The tweet at 10.10am ET read:'HASSETT: TRUMP IS CONSIDERING A 90-DAY PAUSE IN TARIFFS FOR ALL COUNTRIES EXCEPT CHINA.'

Initially, it had looked like US stocks would be slammed for a third trading day in a row as Trump said he wouldn't back down on his sweeping new tariffs. In fact, just after 11am the President threatened to hike tariffs on China by an additional 50 percent.

The wild moves meant trillions is being wiped off then added to the value of US stocks, which are a key component of Americans' 401(K)s and other savings accounts.

Trading floors across Asia and Europe were all down. Hong Kong led the collapse, crashing 13.2 percent — its worst drop in nearly 30 years. Tokyo was down 8 percent.

There were fears of a repeat of 1987's Black Monday. 'Black Monday' started trending on X - a reference to the global and severe stock market crash of 1987, as uncertainty grows before the US markets open at 9.30am EST Monday.

'The underlying problem of the market is that the administration's approach to trade imbalances is to try a cure that's worse than the disease,' said Rick Meckler, partner, Cherry Lane Investments, a family investment office in New Vernon, New Jersey.

'It's clear that investors favor either a pause or a different look at how to do this. It's very telling that of the many Trump supporters in the investment and business community, it doesn't look like there's anybody stepping up and endorsing the administration's approach to tariffs.'

In the two days following Trump's tariff announcements last week, stocks cratered.

It was the worst two-day wipeout in US stock market history — with $6.6 trillion wiped off the value companies.

Trump's 10 percent 'baseline' tariff began Saturday, hitting all US imports except goods from Mexico and Canada. Come April 9, higher levies on goods from 57 larger trading partners — including the European Union — begin.

Bill Dudley, a former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said Monday that stagflation is now the 'best case scenario' for the US economy.
I suspect not, but nobody has ever paid me for my opinion, even if I were good at money.
Stagflation is the combination of economic stag-nation and in-flation. Prices continue to soar at the same time as economic growth slows and unemployment rises.

Many economists consider stagflation, which was last seen in the US in the 1970s, to be worse than a recession.

Dudley, who served as the president of the New York Fed from 2009 to 2018, made the comments in a column for Bloomberg.

'Don't expect the Federal Reserve to rescue the US economy from the epic tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on imports from most of the world. The only question now is how bad the damage will be,' he wrote.

'All told, stagflation is the optimistic scenario. More likely, the US will end up in a full-blown recession accompanied by higher inflation.'

Meanwhile, one of Fox News' most respected business experts has admitted Donald Trump's tariffs may well cause a recession, hours after providing a cheerier outlook before Monday's opening bell.

Maria Bartiromo acknowledged the potential economic nightmare live on-air Monday morning, as a ticker next to her face showed the Dow Jones stock index plunging in real-time.

Earlier in the day, Jamie Dimon, 69, the CEO of JPMorgan, has sounded the alarm on tariffs.

The banker wrote to his shareholders saying that President Trump's import taxes would 'slow down growth.'

Science & Technology
The Return of the Dire Wolf
[Time] Romulus and Remus are doing what puppies do: chasing, tussling, nipping, nuzzling. But there’s something very un-puppylike about the snowy white 6-month olds—their size, for starters. At their young age they already measure nearly 4 ft. long, tip the scales at 80 lb., and could grow to 6 ft. and 150 lb. Then there’s their behavior: the angelic exuberance puppies exhibit in the presence of humans—trotting up for hugs, belly rubs, kisses—is completely absent. They keep their distance, retreating if a person approaches. Even one of the handlers who raised them from birth can get only so close before Romulus and Remus flinch and retreat. This isn’t domestic canine behavior, this is wild lupine behavior: the pups are wolves. Not only that, they’re dire wolves—which means they have cause to be lonely.

The dire wolf once roamed an American range that extended as far south as Venezuela and as far north as Canada, but not a single one has been seen in over 10,000 years, when the species went extinct. Plenty of dire wolf remains have been discovered across the Americas, however, and that presented an opportunity for a company named Colossal Biosciences.

Relying on deft genetic engineering and ancient, preserved DNA, Colossal scientists deciphered the dire wolf genome, rewrote the genetic code of the common gray wolf to match it, and, using domestic dogs as surrogate mothers, brought Romulus, Remus, and their sister, 2-month-old Khaleesi, into the world during three separate births last fall and this winter—effectively for the first time de-extincting a line of beasts whose live gene pool long ago vanished. TIME met the males (Khaleesi was not present due to her young age) at a fenced field in a U.S. wildlife facility on March 24, on the condition that their location remain a secret to protect the animals from prying eyes.

The dire wolf isn’t the only animal that Colossal, which was founded in 2021 and currently employs 130 scientists, wants to bring back. Also on their de-extinction wish list is the woolly mammoth, the dodo, and the thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger. Already, in March, the company surprised the science community with the news that it had copied mammoth DNA to create a woolly mouse, a chimeric critter with the long, golden coat and the accelerated fat metabolism of the mammoth.

If all this seems to smack of a P.T. Barnum, the company has a reply. Colossal claims that the same techniques it uses to summon back species from the dead could prevent existing but endangered animals from slipping into extinction themselves. What they learn restoring the mammoth, they say, could help them engineer more robust elephants that can better survive the climatic ravages of a warming world. Bring back the thylacine and you might help preserve the related marsupial known as the quoll. Techniques learned restoring the dire wolf can similarly be used to support the endangered red wolf.

"We are an evolutionary force at this point," says Beth Shapiro, Colossal’s chief science officer, speaking of humanity as a whole. "We are deciding what the future of these species will be." The Center for Biological Diversity suggests that 30% of the planet’s genetic diversity will be lost by 2050, and Shapiro and Colossal CEO Ben Lamm insist that genetic engineering is a vital tool to reverse this. Company executives often frame the technology not just as a moral good, but a moral imperative—a way for humans, who have driven so many species to the brink of extinction, to get square with nature. "If we want a future that is both bionumerous and filled with people," Shapiro says, "we should be giving ourselves the opportunity to see what our big brains can do to reverse some of the bad things that we’ve done to the world already."

The woolly mouse, to a minor extent, and the dire wolves, to a scientifically seismic one, are first steps in that direction. But not everyone agrees. Scientific history is rife with examples of newly introduced species becoming invasive species—the doctrine of unintended consequences biting humans when we played too cute with other animals. An exotic pet escapes and multiplies, decimating native species. A toad brought in to kill off beetles ends up killing off the marsupials that eat the toads. And genetic engineering is still a nascent field. Nearly 30 years after Dolly the sheep was cloned, the technology still produces problems in cloned animals, such as large birth size, organ defects, premature aging, and immune-system problems. What’s more, cloning can be hard on the surrogate mother that gestates the cloned embryo.

"There’s a risk of death. There’s a risk of side effects that are severe," says Robert Klitzman, professor of psychiatry and director of the bioethics master's program at Columbia University. "There’s a lot of suffering involved in that. There are going to be miscarriages."

Still, Colossal’s scientists believe they are on to something powerful. Matt James, the company’s chief animal officer—who once worked as senior director of animal care at the Dallas Zoo and Zoo Miami, where he managed the welfare of 7,000 animals representing 500 species—felt the significance of the science when Romulus and Remus were just 5 or 6 weeks old. The staff was weighing the little pups, and one of the veterinary techs began singing a song from The Little Mermaid. When she reached a point at which she vocalized first up, then down, Romulus and Remus turned her way and began howling in response.

"For me," James says, "it was sort of a shocking, chilling moment." These pups were the first to produce a howl that hadn’t been heard on earth in over 10,000 years.

It takes surprisingly few genetic changes to spell the difference between a living species and an extinct one. Like other canids, a wolf has about 19,000 genes. (Humans and mice have about 30,000.) Creating the dire wolves called for making just 20 edits in 14 genes in the common gray wolf, but those tweaks gave rise to a host of differences, including Romulus’ and Remus’ white coat, larger size, more powerful shoulders, wider head, larger teeth and jaws, more-muscular legs, and characteristic vocalizations, especially howling and whining.

The dire wolf genome analyzed to determine what those changes were was extracted from two ancient samples—one a 13,000-year-old tooth found in Sheridan Pit, Ohio, the other a 72,000-year-old ear bone unearthed in American Falls, Idaho. The samples were lent by the museums that house them. The lab work that happened next was painstaking.

Cloning typically requires snipping a tissue sample from a donor animal and then isolating a single cell. The nucleus of that cell—which contains all of the animal’s DNA—is then extracted and inserted into an ovum whose own nucleus has been removed. That ovum is allowed to develop into an embryo and then implanted in a surrogate mother’s womb. The baby that results from that is an exact genetic duplicate of the original donor animal. This is the way the first cloned animal, Dolly, was created in 1996. Since then, pigs, cats, deer, horses, mice, goats, gray wolves, and more than 1,500 dogs have been cloned using the same technology.

Colossal’s dire wolf work took a less invasive approach, isolating cells not from a tissue sample of a donor gray wolf, but from its blood. The cells they selected are known as endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), which form the lining of blood vessels.

The scientists then rewrote the 14 key genes in the cell’s nucleus to match those of the dire wolf; no ancient dire wolf DNA was actually spliced into the gray wolf’s genome. The edited nucleus was then transferred into a denucleated ovum. The scientists produced 45 engineered ova, which were allowed to develop into embryos in the lab. Those embryos were inserted into the wombs of two surrogate hound mixes, chosen mostly for their overall health and, not insignificantly, their size, since they’d be giving birth to large pups. In each mother, one embryo took hold and proceeded to a full-term pregnancy. (No dogs experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth.) On Oct. 1, 2024, the surrogates birthed Romulus and Remus. A few months later, Colossal repeated the procedure with another clutch of embryos and another surrogate mother. On Jan. 30, 2025, that dog gave birth to Khaleesi.

#2  Oregon Dave, our ancient ancestors obviously hated them so so much they exterminated them all over their range and long before even "nations" form. Dire Wolfs are a horrible choice to bring back from extinction.

#7  If all this seems to smack of a P.T. Barnum, the company has a reply. Colossal claims that the same techniques it uses to summon back species from the dead could prevent existing but endangered animals from slipping into extinction themselves.

Note well. That will kill the Luddites who've obstructed lots of progress with appeals to emotion for rather preservation of 'rare' species. Over a century ago, the concept of species meant one that could mate and reproduce a viable offspring rather than a sterile offspring. Now mere coloring or slight variation in bone structure seems to justify a newly defined species.

#12  When I awoke, the dire wolf
600 pounds of sin
Was grinning at my window
All I said was, "Come on in"
The wolf came in, I got my cards
We sat down for a game
I cut my deck to the Queen of Spades
But the cards were all the same

Snow White Box Office Update
[BoxOfficeMojo] Third weekend total domestic was about $6M which is pretty low.
Total domestic after third weekend about $77M

Probably will ultimately gross about $100M domestic, another $130M overseas, and another $40M for streaming and merchandise. Figuring that Disney will get about 50% of gross and 80% for streaming and merchandise, that will amount to about a $100M-200M loss for the corporation.

The reviews (from Rotten Tomatoes) are pretty negative from reviewers (ave about 50% positive) but better with viewers (about 75% positive) and higher still among pre teens.
