At least 10 more US airstrikes on Sana’a, Hodeidah toll rises to 10, and an MQ-9 drone shot down
[HodhodYemenNews] The American aggression resumed its airstrikes on the capital, Sana’a in the early hours of Wednesday.

A local source explained that the American aggression carried out 10 airstrikes on the Mount Nuqum, east of the capital.

The source confirmed the airstrikes caused damage to many nearby houses.

Death toll from US aggression on Yemen's Hodeidah rises to 10
[HodhodYemenNews] The Yemeni Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that the death toll from the US aggression in the western governorate of Hodeidah has risen to ten, with 16 others wounded. Rubble removal operations are still underway.

“Among the martyrs were four children and five women. The casualties resulted from a US strike on the Amin Muqbil residential neighborhood in the al-Hawak District of Hodeidah,” the ministry explained in a statement.

The ministry condemned the continued targeting of civilians and civilian objects by the US enemy, calling it “a full-fledged war crime that violates all international norms and laws.”

Continuous efforts are underway to recover and rescue victims of the airstrikes on the Amin Muqbil residential neighborhood in the al-Hawak District, the ministry added, highlighting the civil defense teams’ search and rescue efforts.

The US-led aggression on Yemen targeted several locations with airstrikes on Tuesday, killing several people as rescue missions continue to extract people from under the rubble.

Yemen shoots down third US drone in ten days
[HodhodYemenNews] The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the downing of a US MQ-9 drone while it was conducting a hostile mission over Jawf Governorate. This marks the 18th such incident since October 7, 2023 and the third drone Houthi air defenses have successfully shot down in ten days.

Suspected US strikes overnight in Yemen kill at least 3 people, Houthi rebels say
[IsraelTimes] Suspected US airstrikes in Yemen overnight kill at least three people, while the death toll in an earlier attack rose to 13 dead, the Iran-backed Houthi rebels claim.

The rebels meanwhile air footage they say shows the debris left after shooting down yet another American MQ-9 Reaper drone.

The Houthis say airstrikes targeting the al-Sabeen District in the south of the rebel-held capital, Sanaa, kill at least three people. The area is home to al-Sabeen Square and a major mosque that has been a gathering point for months for Houthi demonstrations against the war in the Gaza Strip. Other strikes hit the capital as well.

More airstrikes hit Kamaran Island in the Red Sea, the Houthis say.

IDF says it has expanded northern West Bank counter-terrorism op to Nablus area
See also here.
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it has expanded its ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the northern West Bank, with troops now operating in the Nablus area.

The military has been carrying out a major offensive in the northern West Bank, dubbed Operation Iron Wall, since January 21, mainly focusing on the Jenin and Tulkarem areas.

Yesterday, officers of the police’s elite Gideonim unit (Unit 33), alongside the IDF and Shin Bet security agency, detained Mohammed al-Bana, a senior member of the former Lion’s Den terror group, the military says.

The IDF says Bana was armed with an assault rifle and a grenade when he was arrested. He was also shot in the leg during the arrest. Bana was involved in numerous shooting and explosive attacks against troops in the West Bank, the military adds.

Troops of the Duvedavan commando unit, meanwhile, detained another wanted Palestinian who the IDF says was involved in shooting attacks on soldiers and was a “prominent weapons dealer” in the West Bank.

Ansarullah condemns Muslim Brotherhood offshoot in Yemen for collaboration with US attacks
[HodhodYemenNews] Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Ansarullah Political Bureau, sharply criticized the leaders of the Islah Party in Yemen

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, al-Bukhaiti described the Islah Party leaders as among the most prominent mercenary tools in efforts to persuade the United States to escalate violence against Yemen, in an effort to halt Sanaa’s military support for Gaza.

He also ridiculed the visits of this party’s leaders to countries such as Russia, China, and some Arab countries, claiming that they are trying to gain these countries’ cooperation with Washington.

He noted the pride these leaders take in these efforts, saying, "They brag about it, and when they are criticized, they say to people, Where is the evidence? Prove and clarify, and do not repeat what our opponents say."

Al-Bukhaiti continued his criticism, stating that Islah leaders are not content with pushing the world to attack Yemen but are also mobilizing internal fighters to fuel internal conflicts, seeking to ensure the effectiveness of US Arclight airstrike

He concluded his post by calling on the Islah party to take clear positions, challenging them to declare their support for military operations in support of Gaza, issue an explicit condemnation of the US aggression against Yemen, or pledge not to participate in any potential ground operation carried out by the pro-Saudi-led coalition government on behalf of the United States against the Sana’a government.

, the UAV force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting an Israeli military target in the occupied area of Jaffa (Tel Aviv), using a "Yaffa" drone, according to military front man General Yahya Sare’e.

"The armed forces continue to confront the ongoing American aggression against our country. In response to its crimes against citizens in several governorates, the Air Force carried out a targeted operation targeting a number of enemy warships, led by the US aircraft carrier Truman, north of the Red Sea, using a number of drones," Sare’e statement read.

"The armed forces, as they fight this battle with valor, defiance, and faith, reaffirm, as they have affirmed over the past years, that great Yemen is resilient and will not back down from supporting and backing the oppressed Paleostinian people. It will not surrender to the American aggression, and will remain, as it was, and will always be a graveyard for invaders."

We continue to prevent Israeli navigation in the Red and Arabian Seas, the statement added.

"We will continue with trust in Allah to confront this brutal aggression, we will continue, with Allah’s help, to support the oppressed Paleostinian people until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted."

Missile launched at Israel by Yemen’s Houthis lands in Saudi Arabia
[IsraelTimes] A ballistic missile launched by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, apparently aimed at Israel, fell short in Saudi Arabia a short while ago.
This is where we point and laugh loud and long.
The military identified the launch, but no sirens sounded in Israel because the missile did not pose a threat.

7 arrested during Jerusalem protest denouncing the war in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Police arrest seven demonstrators at a small anti-war protest in Jerusalem earlier tonight, in Paris Square near the prime minister’s residence.

The left-wing protesters amounted to several dozen and did not appear to have blocked roads to traffic, but police made arrests regardless, confiscating signs bearing controversial slogans.

Participants held banners in Hebrew, English and Arabic demanding an end to Israel’s ongoing Gaza offensive and calling on Israelis to refuse IDF service.

In a clip posted to social media, a protester in a Pikachu costume — a viral symbol of the anti-Erdogan protests in Turkey last month — is seen holding a banner that reads “stop the massacre,” before a plainclothes officer tears it away.

Israel and Turkey hold Syria deconfliction talks to avoid military clash

The source told Channel 12 news that "a mechanism will be established, similar to the one built between Israel and Russia."

The comment follows remarks on Wednesday by Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in a live interview on CNN

According to a report by the Ynet news site, a senior Israeli official said that during a Wednesday night security cabinet meeting, Netanyahu told ministers that Israel is not seeking a confrontation with Turkey in Syria, but will not hesitate to act if necessary to defend itself.

The prime minister added that he would request assistance from US President Donald Trump

Fidan’s remarks came a week after Israel stepped up Arclight airstrike

s on Syria, declaring the attacks a warning to the new government in Damascus as it accused Turkey of trying to turn the country into a Ottoman Turkish protectorate.

Israel has carried out a campaign to destroy Syrian military capabilities so that they cannot threaten Israel, and fears that if Turkey establishes a military presence in Syria, it could hamper the Israeli Air Force’s freedom of action in the region.

Turkey is a key backer of the Islamist-led coalition that toppled Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

in Syria after almost 14 years of civil war. Israel is wary of the Islamist presence on its border and has lobbied the United States to curb Turkey’s growing influence in the country.

On Saturday, Rooters reported that Turkey scoped out at least three airbases in Syria where it could deploy forces as part of a planned joint defense pact that could see new Ottoman Turkish bases in central Syria and use of Syria’s airspace, before Israel hit the sites with airstrikes.

The Israeli strikes on the three sites Turkey was assessing, including a heavy barrage last Wednesday night, came despite Ankara’s efforts to reassure Washington that a deeper military presence in Syria was not intended to threaten Israel, the report said, citing four people familiar with the matter.

"While we are conducting certain operations in Syria, there needs to be a deconfliction mechanism with Israel, which flies aircraft in that region, similar to mechanisms we have with the US and Russia," Fidan said on Wednesday.

"There are technical contacts to prevent combat elements from misunderstanding each other," Fidan continued, adding that technical teams are communicating "when needed."

The Ottoman Turkish foreign minister said these talks are solely for deconfliction in Syria and do not aim at normalizing relations.

Turkey’s foreign ministry last week called Israel "the greatest threat to regional security."

Fidan told Rooters last Friday that "We don’t want to see any confrontation with Israel in Syria because Syria belongs to Syrians," but that repeated Israeli strikes there are eroding the new government’s ability to deter threats from enemies, including the Islamic State

AZERBAIJAN, US OFFER HANDS
At the annual ADA University Policy Forum in Baku earlier Wednesday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev referenced his country’s past role in facilitating Israeli-Ottoman Turkish ties, noting that "both countries are close friends of Azerbaijan."

"We hope that the process will lead to normalization," Aliyev said of the new development, adding: "I think, despite the legitimate concerns and despite the quite a high level of mistrust, there can still be found grounds for normalization and areas of mutual interest. So the process, to my mind, should not stop, and Azerbaijan is doing everything in its position to facilitate the process."

Netanyahu voiced Israeli concerns over Ottoman Turkish influence in Syria while touting the US president as a mediator.

"We’ve had neighborly relations with Turkey that have deteriorated, and we don’t want to see Syria being used by anyone, including Turkey, as a base for attack in Israel," he said.

"We discussed how we can avoid this conflict in a variety of ways, and I think we can’t have a better interlocutor than the president of the United States for this purpose," Netanyahu added.

Strip, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages.

Erdogan was quoted in a speech two weeks ago calling on Allah to "destroy Zionist Israel."

Less than a month after the October 7 attack, Erdogan, whose government had only recently restored full diplomatic ties with Israel, massively stepped up his criticism of the country. In late October 2023, he asserted that Hamas was not a terrorist organization but a liberation group of "mujahideen" fighting for its lands and people, and said in an address to a mass pro-Paleostinian rally in Istanbul that his country was making preparations to proclaim Israel a "war criminal" for its actions in Gaza.

Israel announced it would pull its diplomats out of Turkey in response to Erdogan’s inflammatory statements.

Turkey hosts several Hamas officials, and was also expected to absorb more of them when Qatar

expelled the terror group’s leadership in November 2024, reportedly under pressure from the US.

In May 2024, Turkey halted all bilateral trade with Israel, aiming to pressure Israel into allowing unhindered aid flow into Gaza.

PAST NORMALIZATION EFFORTS
In September 2023, less than a month before Hamas’s attack would set off the current conflict, Netanyahu and Erdogan discussed the effort to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. General Assembly in New York.

The leaders agreed at the time to coordinate mutual visits "in the near future," according to Netanyahu’s office.

It came amid a warming of ties between Israel and Turkey after years of animosity between the two countries’ leaders. President Isaac Herzog was hosted by Erdogan in March 2022 in Ankara — the first high-level Israeli visit since 2008.

Israel was a long-time regional ally of Turkey before Erdogan came to power, but ties imploded after a 2010 Israeli commando raid on the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara ship, part of a blockade-busting flotilla, that left dead 10 Ottoman Turkish activists who attacked IDF soldiers aboard the ship.

Netanyahu and Erdogan repeatedly aimed brickbats at each other in the ensuing years. In July 2014, Erdogan accused the Jewish state of "keeping Hitler

’s spirit alive" during a war with Gaza.

Facing hardening diplomatic isolation and economic woes, Erdogan began to publicly display an openness toward rapprochement in December 2020.

In August 2022, Israel and Turkey announced a full renewal of diplomatic ties, a move that Aliyev said on Wednesday Azerbaijan played a key role in facilitating.

Despite laws banning it, UNRWA continues to operate almost as usual in East Jerusalem
It’s a process.
[IsraelTimes] UN refugee agency’s schools and most facilities still open in capital despite closure orders from police and city, while service disruptions in West Bank and Gaza are blamed on war, not laws

In late October, the Knesset passed a pair of laws effectively banning the UN’s agency for Paleostinian refugees from operating within Israeli territory. The legislation also prohibited state officials from cooperating with the organization, in a step deemed likely to radically constrain its activities in the West Bank and Gazoo

Shrugging off international criticism of the measures, Israeli politicians celebrated the passage of the laws targeting the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Relief and Works Agency for Paleostine Refugees. "UNRWA terrorists, your story ends here; enemies have no right to exist in the State of Israel," tweeted MK Boaz Bismuth, a Likud hawk who sponsored the legislation.

But five months later, UNRWA continues to operate in East Jerusalem almost entirely uninterrupted, according to Paleostinian sources and the agency itself, with police only taking action in recent days. And the legislation is seen as having had little effect on UNRWA operations in other areas where Israeli cooperation is required.

Shortly after the law went into effect at the end of January, Israel shut down UNRWA’s logistics center in East Jerusalem. But the agency’s service centers across East Jerusalem remain operational.

The main hub of UNRWA’s activity is located in the Shuafat refugee camp, the only Paleostinian refugee camp within Israel’s declared sovereign territory and thus subject to the law. Two UNRWA-run schools, several healthcare centers, and social service facilities in Shuafat continue to operate as usual.

"The staff who operate the facilities in the camp say that if the police or army come in with an order to shut the place down, they’ll comply," said a resident of the Shuafat refugee camp who is an UNRWA aid recipient and who asked not to be identified by name. "But for now, it’s business as usual."

The agency, which was established in 1948 to provide services to Paleostinian refugees and, later, to their descendants, operates primarily inside refugee camps, which have grown in the last 77 years from tent cities into densely packed urban slums.

It also operates outside the camps, providing services to refugees and their descendants living in regular East Jerusalem neighborhoods such as Silwan.

While police and city officials have issued closure orders, including this week, it’s unclear whether actual action is being taken to shutter the facilities.

Asked for comment on Tuesday, an Israel Police spokesperson told The Times of Israel that "the relevant authorities should be contacted," implying that enforcing the ban fell outside the police force’s purview.

Three weeks ago, representatives from the Israel Police served notice ordering UNRWA’s Kalandia Training Centre in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Kafr Aqab to shut down within 30 days.

That came a month after the same center was ordered to shut down, along with East Jerusalem schools, to little apparent affect.

On Tuesday, UNRWA said that Jerusalem city officials and police served notices to six East Jerusalem schools, apparently also including small educational centers in Silwan and the Old City, ordering them to close within 30 days. The agency complained that the "illegal closure orders" would put the education of 800 students at risk.

As of Wednesday, the schools and the training center were still operating.

According to the city, preparations were made before the law began to be implemented to identify temporary learning locations for the few hundred students enrolled in UNRWA schools, out of 105,000 total students in East Jerusalem.

The municipality said it had contacted parents after the law passed and again once it came into effect, reminding them they could transfer their children to non-UNRWA schools. Communication with parents was facilitated through parent committees, community council activists, and digital announcements.

"Every resident of Jerusalem, including those living in the Shuafat refugee camp, has always had the option to enroll their children in municipal schools — even before the law was passed," the municipality told The Times of Israel, but denied being responsible for enforcing the ban.

Though the police action did not apparently extend to UNRWA healthcare services, the city also noted that Shuafat residents do not need to rely on UNRWA and have access to Israeli health maintenance organizations and well-child clinics across East Jerusalem.

PERPETUATING REFUGEEHOOD
Israel has long lobbied for UNRWA to be disbanded, accusing it perpetuating Paleostinian victimhood and dependency on aid by controversially bestowing refugee status even on descendants of those displaced in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence.

It has also accused the agency, which also operates in Jordan, Syria and Leb
...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, of adopting virulent anti-Israel ideology in its educational materials and employing members of Paleostinian terror groups as teachers, administrators and in other roles.

Paleostinian residents of refugee camps who spoke to The Times of Israel emphasized that UNRWA’s role is not only about providing essential services such as education and healthcare, which some refugees indeed receive elsewhere, but that it is also deeply tied to their identity as Paleostinians displaced in 1948.

"This is a political and moral issue," a resident of the Shuafat refugee camp explained. "Having a refugee card from UNRWA is a declaration: I am a refugee. My father had a house and property that were taken from him in the 1948 war, and one day, I will return to my home."

But despite opposing UNRWA’s existence, Israel also cooperated with the agency, allowing it to operate and provide services in areas under its control, which some officials regarded as a means of keeping Paleostinians from sinking into deeper poverty and being drawn into violent mostly peaceful activity.

That appeared to change following the October 7, 2023, Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
massacre, after Jerusalem provided evidence that a number of UNRWA employees participated in slaughtering and kidnapping Israelis and the Israel Defense Forces revealed that Hamas faceless myrmidons had maintained a data center directly beneath UNRWA’s Gaza Strip headquarters.

Though most donor countries resumed funding following a brief pause, arguing that the agency was an indispensable distributor of aid during the war in Gaza, the discoveries provided a tailwind for politicians in Jerusalem to take action against the group.

On October 28, Knesset MKs voted 92 to 10 to approve a law barring UNRWA from operating in Israeli territory, and 87-9 in favor of another measure banning state authorities from having any contact with the agency.

While some Israeli politicians recognized the humanitarian risk and the international backlash that would result, "the political cost of opposing the legislation became too significant to endure," an Israeli official told The Times of Israel at the time.

CURTAILED COOPERATION
Much of the concern around the laws’ passage revolved around the measure banning cooperation between Israeli officials and UNRWA, which was considered the most important provider of width:1px;border-bottom-style:dotted;border-bottom-color:gray;' title='humanitarian aid'>humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. Experts had warned the law would make it impossible for UNRWA to work in Gaza or the West Bank, since Jerusalem would no longer be issuing entrance permits to those territories or allowing coordination with the IDF, which controls all access into the Strip.

UNRWA confirmed to The Times of Israel that a few senior international staff left the West Bank when the law took effect and now work remotely from Jordan to avoid potential travel restrictions imposed under the new legislation.

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
while UNRWA’s operations in Gaza and the West Bank have been curtailed in recent months, the agency asserts that this reduction is due to Israeli military activity rather than legislative changes.

In the northern West Bank, for instance, UNRWA schools and clinics in refugee camps adjacent to Jenin and Tulkarem were closed due to a major ongoing IDF anti-terror campaign, which has led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents. In Gaza, UNRWA schools that had reopened during a ceasefire closed again when fighting resumed a month ago.

In October, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was eager to replace UNRWA as the main provider of humanitarian aid into the Strip with other international organizations. Even before the legislation, Israel had looked to the World Food Program, UNICEF and other agencies to replace UNRWA.

In March, though, Israel announced it would stop allowing humanitarian aid into the Strip anyway. In the meantime, UNRWA has continued distributing what remains of its humanitarian aid supplies inside the Strip.

The measure halting cooperation could also be linked to reports that the agency is running out of medications in the West Bank, though Salah Haj Yahya, a senior Physicians for Human Rights Israel official, attributed the scarcity to UNRWA’s worsening financial crisis rather than the legislation.

According to PHRI, which provides volunteer medical assistance to Paleostinians in the West Bank, the shortage of medication at UNRWA clinics has grown over the last few months.

Haj Yahya, who heads PHRI’s mobile clinic, told The Times of Israel that during the group’s most recent visit to the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, thousands of people turned up seeking medication after being unable to obtain what they needed from UNRWA.

"People came with prescriptions in hand after UNRWA simply couldn’t provide them with the medicines," he said.

A resident of the Jalazone refugee camp near Ramallah, who requested anonymity, told The Times of Israel that UNRWA clinics in the camp have faced recurring medicine shortages in recent weeks.

"Medicines are available only in the first few days of the month, likely when new supplies arrive, but within five days they run out," he said.

In a formal response, UNRWA denied that there was a shortage of medicine.

Some aspects of the legislation remain unclear, including whether it forces Israeli banks to shutter accounts held by the agency, which would hamper UNRWA’s ability to pay its employees, who are largely Paleostinian residents of the West Bank and Gaza.

UNRWA said its sole Israeli bank account, at Bank Leumi, was frozen at the end of 2024 even before the law took effect. According to the agency, the account was used to pay Israeli vendors for services such as office and telephone expenses, not to pay salaries to Paleostinian employees.

The Bank of Israel told The Times of Israel that banks providing services to UNRWA inside the country were liable to be sanctioned.

"The banking system in Israel is required to comply with all relevant legal provisions governing its operations," a spokesperson said. "The Law for the Termination of UNRWA renders UNRWA’s activity within Israeli territory illegal. Consequently, any financial activity that enables UNRWA’s operations within Israel exposes banking corporations to various risks, including compliance and legal risks, which the banks are required to manage."

US Senate confirms Huckabee as next Israel envoy, voting largely along party lines
[IsraelTimes] The US Senate voted almost entirely along party lines on Wednesday to confirm the nomination of former Arkansas governorMike Huckabee to be Washington’s ambassador to Israel.

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania — an ardent supporter of Israel and virtually the only Democratic ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — was the lone lawmaker to break with his party by joining Republicans in backing Huckabee’s nomination.

The final vote tally was 53 to 46 in favor of Huckabee, a passionate evangelical supporter of Israel and its West Bank settlement movement.

#2  The party-line stuff needs to be brought out...somehow.

A resolution could be offered declaring what day of the week *today* is, and here's the possible outcomes:

IF a Republican offered it, it would pass on party line vote. The Democrats would vote against it in mass.

IF a Democrat offered it, it would pass with a 90% approval rate, and the majority of those voting "no" would be those Republicans who vote against anything that doesn't include a balanced budget, and serve to annoy everyone of both parties.

Trump: Israel would ‘be the leader’ of strike on Iran if nuclear talks fall apart

along with the US if upcoming nuclear talks don’t succeed.

The remark came days after Trump appeared to blindside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by announcing alongside him at the White House that direct US-Iran talks on curbing Tehran’s nuclear program would take place this coming Saturday, a timing that Netanyahu’s cabinet secretary said Wednesday had taken Jerusalem by surprise.

Asked by news hounds in the Oval Office Wednesday whether he would use military means against Iran if the latter doesn’t agree to a nuclear deal, Trump responded: "If it requires military, we’re going to have military."

"Israel will obviously be very much involved in that — it’ll be the leader of that," he said, in what appeared to be the first time he’s explicitly threatened an Iranian strike by Israel, let alone one led by the Jewish state.

But he appeared to partially walk back the comment in his next breath. "Nobody leads us. We do what we want to do."

He said the US would "absolutely" use military force against Iran if necessary and that he has a timeline for how long they will take, though he didn’t specify. Reports have said Trump is giving the process two months.

The US president said that Saturday’s slated summit in Oman was the "start" of a process. His envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is slated to represent the US, while Iran will be represented by its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Trump has said the talks will be direct, while Iran has said they will be through a mediator.

"We have a little time, but we don’t have much time because we’re not going to let them have a nuclear weapon," Trump said. "We’re going to let them thrive. I want them to thrive. I want Iran to be great. The only thing they can’t have is a nuclear weapon. They understand that."

"I was a little bit surprised because when the election was rigged, I figured that they would get the weapon because with me, they were broke," he claimed, without elaborating.

Witkoff may end up holding off on traveling to Oman on Saturday if Iran refuses to hold direct talks with him in Muscat, The Washington Post reported.

US officials have been insisting that the negotiations will be direct, having argued that indirect talks aren’t as effective.

"We won’t be played for fools," a Trump administration official was quoted as saying, arguing that what is needed to break through the deep mistrust on both sides is a "full-fledged discussion" and a "meeting of minds."

Witkoff would even be willing to travel to Tehran if invited, two administration officials told the Post. One of the officials speculated that Trump’s decision to announce the talks alongside Netanyahu in the Oval Office on Monday was to keep the premier in check and preempt Israeli criticism.

Trump is more eager to engage in diplomacy than bombing, the officials told the Post.
Of course. Who wouldn’t be?Meanwhile,
...back at the saloon, Butch got the bill for the damage caused by the fist fight, the mirror broken in the shootout, and drinks for everyone......
Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs acknowledged that Netanyahu was caught off guard by Trump’s announcement of the direct talks this weekend. Speaking with the Kol Berama radio station, Fuchs insisted that Netanyahu had known in advance about the planned US negotiations with Iran, but "he did not know the talks will take place on Saturday."

"There is a close connection between the president and the prime minister. The president’s team competes over who loves Israel the most," said Fuchs.

In a cabinet meeting Wednesday night, Netanyahu reportedly told ministers that Israel had had advance knowledge of the US talks with Iran, with Washington having asked Jerusalem what it would consider to be a good deal.

The Kan public broadcaster cited an Israeli source as saying that Netanyahu answered that a good proposal would be similar to one that led to the dismantlement of Libya’s nuclear program, and added that time for diplomacy was limited.

Netanyahu convened the cabinet to discuss his recent trips to Hungary and the United States, with a focus on the US. The premier called on Monday for the forum to convene, immediately after he finished his meeting with Trump, The Times of Israel has learned.

The Trump meeting contained a series of unwelcome surprises for Netanyahu even beyond the Iran talks, namely on the lack of immediate tariff relief, and on tensions with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Only cabinet ministers were invited to the cabinet meeting. Security chiefs, including Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar as well as the heads of the IDF and the Mosssd

, were not invited according to Hebrew media outlets. The Kan public broadcaster cited an unnamed source as asserting this was due to the diplomatic, non-security nature of the meeting.

Netanyahu also met CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Jerusalem on Wednesday, his office said, adding that Mossad chief David Barnea was also present.

Efforts to settle a dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, which it says is purely for civilian use but which Western countries see as a precursor to an atomic bomb, have ebbed and flowed for more than 20 years without resolution.

Trump tore up a 2015 deal between Iran and six world powers — the US, Russia, China, La Belle France, Britannia and Germany — during his first term of office in 2017, and also imposed stiff sanctions. Iran responded by dropping some of its commitments to the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Iran, which is sworn to Israel’s destruction, denies seeking a nuclear weapon, but it has ramped up its enrichment of uranium to 60 percent purity, which has no application beyond nuclear weapons, and has obstructed international inspectors from checking its nuclear facilities.

International talks to bring both countries back to the deal have stalled.

The US issued fresh sanctions on Iran on Wednesday, with the Treasury Department saying that the measures targeting five Iran-based entities and one person based in Iran were imposed due to their support of Iran’s nuclear program with the aim of denying Tehran a nuclear weapon.

Iran directed teens who attacked Israel’s embassy in Stockholm last May, police says
[IsraelTimes] Tehran’s embassy slams Swedish Security Service accusation as ‘fake and propagandistic,’ as US treasury sanctions local gang allegedly contracted by Iran to stage another attack

Two Swedish teens tried to attack the Israeli embassy in Stockholm last year at the direction of Iran, Swedish police have determined.

had been using organized crime networks in the country to carry out terror plots.

The Iranian embassy in Sweden called the accusations "fake and propagandistic."

Last month, following yet another attempted attack on the Israeli embassy in Sweden in January, the US Treasury sanctioned one of the Swedish gangs allegedly behind the plots, a crime ring called Foxtrot, as well as its leader Rawa Majid, over its collusion with Iran.

Majid collaborated with the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security, according to the Treasury’s blurb, which also referenced the gang’s manipulation of teenagers to carry out its attacks on Israelis and Jews.

The threats to the Israeli Embassy follow a pattern of reports of Iranian-linked terror plots against Jewish populations and leaders in recent years, including a shooting at a German synagogue and planned attacks at Jewish sites in Cyprus.

Authorities in Australia recently announced that a wave of attacks on Jewish targets were the work of a criminal gang but did not implicate Iran.

Government Corruption
Rubio Exposes Leftist Agenda and Corruption of USAID Programs
[PJ] There's a story going around in the mainstream media today about how eight cholera patients, including five children, in South Sudan died walking to get treatment last month. The United Kingdom-based charity Save the Children blames the cutting of USAID funding, though a spokesperson mentions that European countries have also cut funding. (The MSM headlines don't mention that, of course).

It's absolutely heartbreaking that people are dying from a treatable disease and I wish that wasn't so, but the MSM's attempts at blaming the Donald Trump administration are ridiculous, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. It's the same BS they do with illegal immigration — making it seem like Trump is only deporting grandmothers and nurses rather than some of the most violent and deranged people on the planet.

The truth is that the blame doesn't lie with Trump. It lies with everyone who led our country before him. It lies with corrupt government officials, diplomats with agendas, and the many disingenuous nonprofits around the world. It lies with, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio often puts it, the "federal aid industrial complex." And it's time to stop using United States tax dollars as an ATM to line everyone else's pockets.

Reuters reports that a State Department "spokesperson said many U.S. government programs remained active but medical sources had also been used to enrich the country's leaders." Reuters also reported that "South Sudan's government has acknowledged a significant amount of public corruption." (And I'm not giving Reuters any credit here because it buried all of this under the headline "South Sudan cholera patients died walking to clinic after US cut aid, charity says." )

Rubio appeared on Donald Trump, Jr.'s podcast "Triggered with Don Jr." on Tuesday evening, and the two men dove into this important topic of foreign aid and the changes we'll see going forward. Rubio pointed out that the U.S. is no longer the world's cash cow. We're still willing to help, but we're taking care of ourselves first. Every dollar we spend on foreign aid from here forward must "make America stronger, it has to make America more prosperous, or it has to make America safer."

Transgender Activists Slam Gay Nudist Camp for Male-Only Policy
[Breitbart] Transgender activists are claiming outrage after a male-only gay nudist camp rejected their demand for female participation in an upcoming all-male social event in May.

The staged uproar spotlights the aggressive demand by advocates for transgenderism that gay men must pretend that women miraculously become men once they say they feel “transgender.”

For years, ordinary women and lesbians have faced the same intrusive “transgender” demands in bathrooms, civic events, and sports from men who say they feel like women.

This time, gay men- who are sexually attracted to male bodies, not females who insist they are “transgender men”- are facing similar political pressure to submit to the transgender political campaign.

The female group “knew full well of our policy regarding trans-men well advance of their organization booking their dates,” said a March 31 explanation by the “Grizzly Pines” camp owners. They added:

At Grizzly Pines, our mission has always been to provide a safe, affirming, and liberating space exclusively for cis gender [sic] men … Grizzly Pines exists as a private niche retreat and its purpose is not to serve as a one size fits all solution for the entire LGBTQ+ spectrum.

A pro-transgender outlet, Advocate.com touted the transgender demands above the gay rights group, saying:

The controversy has prompted a conversation about exclusion, transphobia, and who gets to define community in LGBTQ+ spaces traditionally rooted in body positivity and inclusion.

The fight was staged by a pro-transgender group called the “Houston Bears,” which includes both male homosexuals and women who claim to be “transgender.” Their site says, “Our membership transcends gender, race, age and ethnicity to include bears, cubs, otters, admirers and other allies to the Bear Community.”

The “bears” term refers to hairy men, as opposed to the clean-shaved look more common among gay men.

The Advocate.com reported:

“The idea of having an event where we would be forced to tell some of our members ‘not you’ is incompatible with our values,” the Houston Bears said in a statement sent to The Advocate and posted online. “We know that it is very late in the process, but we also believe that it is never too late to do the right thing.”

The Houston Bear’s summer event has been moved to an alternative site at Rainbow Ranch in Groesbeck, Texas.

Yet transgender activists insist they are being politically betrayed by the managers of the gay campground.

“There’s a huge swath of the LGB community that feels like the fight is over for them,” John Anderson, founder of the Gay Camping Friends civic group, told Advocate.com:

They’ve made progress and now want to separate themselves from trans people. People post graphics that read ‘LGB’ with a slash through the ‘T.’ What they don’t understand is that attacks on trans people are the precursor to attacks on all queer people. They’re next.”

However, the niche fight helps to reveal the supremacist demands by “transgender” groups that everyone else must accept their claims to have changed their sex once they mimic members of the opposite sex. Some people who claim to be transgender prefer to have homosexual sex with people who share their biological sex. Others prefer to have straight sex with people of the opposite biological sex.

Their sexual demands are hidden underneath their revolutionary claims that each person’s feeling of their “gender” is more important than the differences between the two sexes. For example, the pro-transgender group, GLAAD, is trying to redefine both heterosexuality and homosexuality around the invented idea of “gender.”

Breitbart News reported in March 2024:

Same-Gender Loving …Also known as SGL, this is a term used by some African American people as an Afrocentric alternative to what are considered Eurocentric, or white, identities like gay and lesbian. Coined by activist Cleo Manago in the 1990s, the term and its usage explicitly recognizes the histories and cultures of people of African descent.

For example, a transgender woman [a man pretending to be a woman – added] who is attracted exclusively to women would typically describe [himself] a lesbian; if [he] were exclusively attracted to men, she would likely describe herself a straight woman.

“Drunked Octopus” tweeted: “Wow. GLAAD are actively erasing same sex attraction as a concept. They are erasing LGB. This is homophobia.”

A similar political campaign by transgender groups killed a women-only music festival held in Michigan from 1976 to 2015.

The transgender campaign is being funded and backed by elite-funded progressives who impose diversity to help fracture the civic and political power of ordinary American families in a society that recognizes men and women as equal, different, and complementary.

Polls suggest that the “transgender” campaign is weakening public acceptance of gays and lesbians. NBC News reported in March 2024:

After steadily increasing over the last decade, support for same-sex marriage dipped to 67% in 2023 from a record high of 69% the year before, according to the survey of more than 22,000 U.S. adults, which was conducted by the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute, or PRRI, and reported a margin of sampling error of 0.82%. More than three-quarters of those surveyed (76%) favored laws that protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodation, a decline from a record high of 80% in 2022.

The demand is increasingly unpopular among Americans, some of whom switched parties from Democratic to Republican in the 2024 elections. The demand also pushed some gays and lesbians into the GOP column, partly because transgender advocates are pressuring many same-sex attracted teenagers to submit to transgender claims.

Since then, Trump has aggressively pushed back against the transgender claim that gender is both real and more important than each person’s obvious male or female sex- whatever their straight, gay, or lesbian sexual feelings.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Dismembered UK scientist may have been killed by organ traffickers, his horrified relatives fear as map shows how hacked up body was scattered around Colombian town
[DM] Relatives of the UK scientist found dismembered in Colombia fear he may have been murdered by organ traffickers.

Alessandro Coatti's remains have been found scattered around a town in Colombia, with his torso found miles away from his dismembered legs, head, hands and feet.

The discovery in the Colombian port city of Santa Marta has left police and his family in Italy in shock.

Police are still scrambling to understand how the London-based 38-year-old was killed on a trip to the South American country, just days before he was due to return.

Mr Coatti's family fear he may have been killed by organ traffickers.

'Alessandro didn't have any enemies; he was a quiet person,' said his uncle, Giovanni Coatti.
He certainly is now
'The theory of a robbery doesn't convince me; he didn't have anything of value. What's really troubling us is another possibility, that of organ trafficking.
or someone nasty was just having nasty fun…
'When you see how his body was found, in pieces, without the chest. It's something horrible to even say but at this point nothing has been ruled out.'

Mr Coatti's head, hands and feet were found in a suitcase near the Sierra Nevada stadium on April 6, two days after he was last seen leaving his hotel by the coast.

His torso and other body parts were then found near the Minuto de Dios bridge a day later, before his legs were found in a coffee sack near the stadium on Tuesday.

Mr Coatti, originally from Longastrino, Ravenna, was visiting the country in the hopes of one day moving there.

'He wanted to go and live in South America so he went for a trip to see; he was supposed to be back next week,' his uncle shared.

The molecular biologist had left the Royal Society of Biology in 2024 to volunteer in Ecuador and travel to South America.

While in Colombia, he had asked about the local area, showing interest in learning about the local fauna and vegetation, Agenzia Nova reports.

Investigators believe he had taken the evening of April 4 to go to a local club before vanishing.

They are still working to understand whether or not he ever arrived, scouring CCTV and phone records.

According to his uncle, he would not have been an obvious target for thieves.

'He never had much money in his pockets, or a watch or other precious objects,' he said.

'All he had was a new mobile phone to take pictures but even that was a cheap one.'

A parallel investigation has also been opened in Italy and his parents have handed over devices containing his last messages.

Officers are also expected to travel to Colombia to assist in their probe.

The Grand Turk
Mystery of village where nearly half the population is deaf - with locals fearing too many cousins marrying could be to blame

[Mail] A remote Turkish village where more than half the population are deaf and non-verbal has left doctors and scientists baffled.

Isolated Gokova - which is located 450 miles from Istanbul and has a small population of 120 - has such profound disability problems that sign language has become the primary means of communication, Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reports.

Local mayor Eyup Tozn said: 'We've learned to rely on sign language as a community but any outsiders have trouble communicating.

'There are almost no healthy people', he said.

Villager Sati Tozun said: 'I have four children with disabilities and one of them has three children, all deaf and mute.

'My sister-in-law has children with disabilities. This village is completely disabled.'

Causes for the condition that has affected several families are not known, but some have blamed the high deafness rate on inbreeding in an area where newcomers are a rarity.

But others say locals have been slowly poisoned by generations of water pollution, with metals like iron and arsenic and chemical contamination from industrial waste having been linked to deafness.

'I think this is not caused by inter-marriage, but because of unhealthy water sources', mayor Tozn added.

Another local, Rahmi Cizin, noted how villagers 'don't have access to clean water', adding that 'the rate of disability here is very high. All of them need care.'

Gokova is a picturesque village with stunning turquoise waters and rolling mountains.

The mystery surrounding the high deafness rate in the Turkish village comes more than 10 years after Australian authorities uncovered a hidden community where children born from generations of incest lived with physical deformities.

Incapable of intelligible speech, some of the children had oddly-formed features as the result of being born to parents who were themselves related.

The discovery was made in 2012, when officials raided a 'bush camp' in the hillside valley.

Lots of studies in Britain because of the high rate of close cousin marriage-caused birth defects:in the “Asian” (Pakistani) community. Here is a recent news report:
The disturbing risks of 'extreme inbreeding' revealed, despite NHS claims it's no more dangerous than being an older parent - as MPs call to BAN marrying first cousins

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Data suggests the risk of a child of first cousins developing a genetic condition is between 3 to 6 per cent, which is double the risk compared to children from unrelated parents. While this still means the majority of children born in such circumstances will be healthy, the increased risk is undeniable. Potential conditions children of first cousins are at increased risk of include birth defects, developmental delays, and ongoing genetic disorders.

These can include conditions such as blindness, hearing loss, neonatal diabetes, limb malformations, low IQ, cleft palate, heart problems, cystic fibrosis, and even an increased risk of infant death. Risks broadly increases if there is a family history of such unions, as genetic errors can compound between generations.

Cousin marriage is still common in some UK communities.

Experts have previously found that a preference for such unions among British Pakistanis was a contributing factor in child mortality rates in Bradford due to an increased risk of genetic conditions. NHS studies between 2007-11 found consanguineous marriages, a genetics term meaning parents are at least second cousins or more closely related, accounted for 60 per cent of marital unions in people of Pakistani heritage in Bradford.

This compared to just 1 per cent among white British couples in the area.

Of the Pakistani-heritage marriages, 37 per cent were specifically to a first-cousin and would be the type of unions that Mr Holden's bill would forbid if passed into law. Subsequent NHS studies, conducted between 2016 and 2020, found the rate of consanguineous unions among this community has fallen to about 43 per cent.

The NHS has previously stated in leaflets distributed to families in Bradford, that cousin marriage accounts for about a third of birth defects.

Worldwide, one in 10 people are thought to be the result of a consanguineous union.
Studies have put Pakistan as having one of the highest rates globally at 65 per cent. This is followed by India (55 per cent), Saudi Arabia (50 per cent), Afghanistan (40 per cent), Iran (30 per cent) and Egypt and Turkey (20 per cent each).

Government Corruption
DOGE reveals bizarre findings of unemployment insurance claims survey: 'This is so crazy'
[FoxNews] The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) account on X shared eyebrow-raising findings from a survey of unemployment insurance claims.

The "initial survey of Unemployment Insurance claims since 2020" found that thousands of people with future birthdates claimed benefits.

The survey also indicated that thousands of supposedly very young and very old people had claimed benefits.

The DOGE post states that the survey found, "24.5k people over 115 years old claimed $59M in benefits," "28k people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254M in benefits," and "9.7k people with birth dates over 15 years in the future claimed $69M in benefits."

"In one case, someone with a birthday in 2154 claimed $41k," the post also notes.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Labor for comment: "This is another incredible discovery by the DOGE team, finding nearly $400 million in fraudulent unemployment payments," Department of Labor Sec. Lori Chavez-DeRemer said in a statement. "The Labor Department is committed to recovering Americans’ stolen tax dollars. We will catch these thieves and keep working to root out egregious fraud — accountability is here."

"Your tax dollars were going to pay fraudulent unemployment claims for fake people born in the future! This is so crazy that I had to read it several times before it sank in," Elon Musk tweeted.

Musk is spearheading the DOGE effort to uncover waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.

"The oldest living American is 114 years old, so it is safe to say that anyone 115 or older is collecting 'unemployment' due to being dead. There was no sanity check for impossibly young or impossibly old people for unemployment insurance," he noted in another post.

[MedRxIV] Effectiveness of the Influenza Vaccine During the 2024-2025 Respiratory Viral Season

This article is a preprint and has not been peer-reviewed

ABSTRACT

Background The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season.

Methods Employees of Cleveland Clinic in employment in Ohio on October 1, 2024, were included. The cumulative incidence of influenza among those in the vaccinated and unvaccinated states was compared over the following 25 weeks. Protection provided by vaccination (analyzed as a time-dependent covariate) was evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression.

Results Among 53402 employees, 43857 (82.1%) had received the influenza vaccine by the end of the study. Influenza occurred in 1079 (2.02%) during the study. The cumulative incidence of influenza was similar for the vaccinated and unvaccinated states early, but over the course of the study the cumulative incidence of influenza increased more rapidly among the vaccinated than the unvaccinated. In an analysis adjusted for age, sex, clinical nursing job, and employment location, the risk of influenza was significantly higher for the vaccinated compared to the unvaccinated state (HR, 1.27; 95% C.I., 1.07 – 1.51; P = 0.007), yielding a calculated vaccine effectiveness of −26.9% (95% C.I., −55.0 to −6.6%).

Conclusions This study found that influenza vaccination of working-aged adults was associated with a higher risk of influenza during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season, suggesting that the vaccine has not been effective in preventing influenza this season.

Summary Among 53402 working-aged Cleveland Clinic employees, we were unable to find that the influenza vaccine has been effective in preventing infection during the 2024-2025 respiratory viral season.

#3  Of course it received funding.

The last time I got a flu shot, I got sick anyways, and suspiciously soon after the shot. I no longer get one. The rest of the family does, and always end up suffering through flue season anyways. If I've been sick in the last 10 years, I haven't noticed. So, as at least a premise to a study, I'm going to agree, after the Covid response, have earned the skepticism.

#6  This study did not receive any funding

Either they added a question about getting sick to the usual follow-up satisfaction survey done on their patients or they just did a data analysis of their patients during the period, noting who did and did not get the shot, and then in each set how many came back for treatment for the flu. Either way the effort and expense could be absorbed within the ordinary cost of doing business.

#7  #3,4. There is an obligatory place on an article where the authors detail funding. It has nothing to do with it being true or false.
However, the research detailed in the article cost money - not lots (by med research statement) but not negligible (unless they stole somebody else's data).

/devil's advocate mode
The study controlled for the usual age, sex, job, etc. I wonder if there was a behavioral component. Did the vaccinated subjects feel more protected and hence went out socializing, drinking and whoring more than the unvaxxed subjects?

Is it possible that year's vaccine was a miss for providing effective protection against that season's strain of the flu?

I mean, I did eat at a 3rd world corner street food until I got through my second portion and saw the shrimp still had shells on them, and to my surprise they dumped my remaining dip sauce back into the pot and didn't get sick, so what that's worth.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Austin Metcalf And The Endless Race War
[ZERO] Recently, a young Black male killed another young White male. This is hardly news, seeing as how every day, young Black males kill. It’s a ’hood workout. The apparent motive in this case, was that the young Black male felt "disrespected." In ghetto culture, you don’t accept "disrespect." You have to respond, too often in a deadly way.

Now why this story has become national news is puzzling. The young victim, an honor roll high school student named Austin Metcalf, who was a Division 1 college football prospect, is no different than countless other White victims of Black pathology who remain anonymous because the crimes were ignored by mainstream media. The murderer is named Karmelo Anthony. We were assured that he came from a good home, unlike the vast majority of young Black killers. In this case, Anthony appears to have wandered into the tent provided for members of Metcalf’s high school track team. Maybe Karmelo forgot what school he went to. Metcalf asked him to leave, because the tent was reserved for track players at his particular high school. Now, no one asks a young Black man to leave any place. If he’s there, he must have a reason. So, Karmelo felt "disrespected." And he responded in an appropriate ghetto style.

According to Austin’s twin brother, who will be haunted for the rest of his life by reliving the indescribable agony of his twin dying in his arms, Austin represented no threat to Karmelo. Austin didn’t bring a knife, or any other weapon, to a track meet. Karmelo Anthony did. The mainstream media normally suppresses stories like this, because they are so common that even the comatose "normies" might eventually start wondering. But they did report this one. Why? And the reaction has been predictable; uniform and irrational Black solidarity online. I’m sure Joy Reid and the shrews from The View will be chiming in soon. There is no other racial group that would attempt to justify cold blooded murder. You couldn’t find a single White person on earth defending this killer, if the races were reversed. This case is as cut and dry as can be. A knife to the heart for being asked to move from a restricted area?

This is the problem we face, and have faced for a very long time. It’s why I have African American Fatigue Syndrome (AAFS). We have to pretend that Blacks don’t kill Whites and Asians far, far more often than the reverse. If any White person kills any Black person, you’ll know, because it will become front page news. I’m not sure any Asian has ever killed a Black person. You’ll be required to "say his or her name!" Loudly. When you first heard about the story, and that a White and a Black teen were involved, there was no doubt in your mind about which one was the perpetrator. Despite the best efforts of Hollywood to convince us that Whites bully and kill Blacks, and rape Black women, in real life these events are so rare as to be almost statistically meaningless. And you will not find a single Black public figure who will condemn this murder without some kind of ridiculous qualification. And that’s the real issue here.

Why is it so hard for good Black people to call out the atrocious behavior of young Black thugs, who are seemingly committed to criminal activity like some kind of twisted catechism? More significantly, why are the vast majority of White people afraid to condemn the violent trappings of this absurd "culture?" There should be nothing glamorous or attractive about learned stupidity, and gang activity. About single mothers and drive by shootings. About "wilding." I guess they still engage in "wilding." I’m old and White, so I wouldn’t know. This ghetto mentality has resulted in a perpetual morass of death and poverty. And yet every Black entertainer pays homage to it. They genuflect to the likes of stoned "gangsta" Snoop Dogg. Even more remarkably, so does polite White society. How can any intelligent person not laugh when saying his infantile rap name? Is it supposed to sound intimidating?

As psychiatrist Theodore Dalrymple’s work with the English underclass makes clear, it’s actually an underclass cultural issue, not a race issue. The native poor of England have the same problems with violence and excuse-projecting as is in America blamed on racial differences. His Life At The Bottom — sorry, I can’t provide an Amazon link at the moment, but that’s where I got it — gets into his experiences with both natives and colonists from various cultures of the British empire. He has also been a prolific editorialist for decades, so his thoughts under both that name and his real name since he retired a few years ago can be found all over the internet.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu speaks out…
[IsraelNationalNews] Upon landing in Israel this morning from his whirlwind trip to Hungary, and then last minute invitation to DC, Netanyahu had to go straight to the court room, and boy did he have what to say in the court room today!

For years, Prime Minister Netanyahu held back. All these years he has remained quiet waiting for the day he would be able to defend himself in court, and refusing to expose the full extent of the corruption inside Israel’s justice system.

But now, with every passing day of these sham court proceedings, and as more Israelis wake up to the truth, Netanyahu is finally saying out loud what many of us have known for a long time.

..."It’s terrible, it’s horrifying. It breaks all boundaries. There’s no offense, no suspicion, nothing! And these people go from one close associate to another, to the people around me, fishing for something. And even Shimron was acquitted! So what is this? This is a witch hunt, a fishing expedition. This is simply a dark regime, a dark trial, criminal. You’re trying to bring down a Prime Minister — since you can’t beat him at the ballot box, you’re laying a net around him. What’s going on here?"
If you think Trump was hounded by politicized Judicial System - you should look at Israel.
Ditto for judicial obstructionism - see at the link.

ISIS ramps up attacks in SDF-held regions: War monitor
[Rudaw] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) has been ramping up its attacks in regions controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) against both civilians and the Kurdish-led force. Over 50 such attacks have been documented since the start of 2025, according to a war monitor.

The US-backed SDF serves as the de facto army of northeast Syria (Rojava), and remains the main partner of the US-led global coalition to defeat ISIS.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Tuesday reported that holy warriors likely linked to ISIS launched a "machine-gunfire attack on a military vehicle" in SDF-controlled regions, northeast of Deir ez-Zor province in east Syria.

A day prior, the UK-based war monitor reported four other attacks in similar regions in Deir ez-Zor "within the span of 72 hours" since Friday.

The Observatory also said that "an oil investor sustained different injuries" after he "was targeted by ISIS button men" east of the province on Monday.

A day prior, a civilian was rubbed out by ISIS holy warriors north of Deir ez-Zor "on charges of collaborating with the SDF" after "he had received several threats" from ISIS.

On Saturday, ISIS holy warriors also bumped off a civilian east of the province, and the day before members of the organization launched a gunfire attack on a currency exchange office after its owner refused to pay extortion money to the group.

SOHR on Monday characterized these incidents as part of a wider resurgence activity by ISIS.

The war monitor noted that since the beginning of 2025, it has documented 53 attacks carried out by ISIS against civilians and employees of the SDF-held Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) in Rojava.

The corpse count from these attacks has reached 13, ten from the SDF military personnel and three civilians, according to the war monitor.

The SDF played a key role in defeating ISIS in Syria in 2019 and capturing thousands of the group’s fighters and their kin. The SDF operates alongside hundreds of US troops as part of the global coalition to defeat ISIS.

The SDF, through its military forces and affiliated internal security forces (Asayish), are also the main on-the-ground personnel responsible for the physical securing of the Roj and al-Hol camps in northeast Syria.

Roj and al-Hol camps house an estimated 2,600 and 40,000 persons, respectively, who are believed to have ties to ISIS and have largely been branded as a breeding ground for terrorism.

Since its defeat in 2019, ISIS has been trying to regain its strength, particularly after a coalition of opposition groups led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

SDF chief Mazloum Abdi has repeatedly warned of the growing threat posed by ISIS, especially within detention centers and camps.

On January 12, Abdi highlighted that while 10,000 ISIS fighters are imprisoned in Syria, 2,000 of whom are considered "highly dangerous."

He stressed the "need to intensify efforts to continue the fight against ISIS if we don’t want to see it make a comeback."

Europe
Italy to Resettle 700 Afghan Refugees
[KhaamaPress] Italia has announced plans to resettle 700 Afghan refugees, part of a larger effort to bring 8,200 individuals to Europe, amid global challenges in refugee resettlement.

Italian media recently reported that the government of Italia has decided to relocate 700 Afghan refugees to the country as part of a new humanitarian effort. The initiative is aimed at offering a safe haven to individuals who have been displaced by the ongoing political turmoil in Afghanistan, particularly after the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
’s resurgence in 2021.

According to reports, the "Humanitarian Corridor" agreement was finalized on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The deal, struck between the Community of Sant’Egidio, various Italian ministries, and international organizations, outlines the logistics of safely transferring Afghan refugees to Italia. The arrangement is set to be implemented over the course of three months, ensuring a streamlined process for those in need of asylum. The program focuses on providing a dignified and secure resettlement for Afghan nationals.

The initial group of refugees, totaling 338 individuals, has already been granted entry into Italia. Following this, an additional 362 refugees are expected to arrive by July 2025, bringing the total number of Afghan refugees relocated to 700. This phased approach is part of Italia’s broader strategy to offer sanctuary to vulnerable individuals while managing the logistical and security aspects of their integration into society.

Vatican News reported that the agreement was signed at the Italian Ministry of the Interior, with key participation from organizations like the Community of Sant’Egidio. The program’s implementation is expected to bring a much-needed sense of stability to those fleeing Afghanistan, a country that has faced severe political upheaval since the Taliban’s return to power. The initiative provides critical support for individuals who have endured tremendous hardship and are seeking refuge.

Marco Impagliazzo, president of the Community of Sant’Egidio, expressed that the program represents hope for Afghan refugees, many of whom have been living in uncertain and precarious conditions since their initial displacement in August 2021. These individuals have waited for resettlement, often feeling forgotten by the international community.

Reports indicate that with the implementation of this agreement, a total of 8,200 refugees will be granted safe entry into Europe. The project is fully funded by internal resources and supported by Italian citizens, while thousands of Afghan refugees remain in unstable conditions after fleeing to neighboring countries.

The project also contributes to the broader goal of European countries working together to address global displacement issues. As thousands of Afghan refugees continue to reside in neighboring countries under difficult conditions, the relocation program is seen as a significant step towards providing a more stable future for those who have fled the conflict.

Three Afghan Refugees acquitted of Greece’s Moria Refugee Camp Fire Charges
The fire at the grossly overcrowded camp was in 2020, the lads were convicted and sentenced in 2021, when last we heard.
[KhaamaPress] Three Afghan refugees were acquitted of charges related to a fire at Greece’s Moria refugee camp, initially sentenced to prison.

Three Afghan refugees have been acquitted by a juvenile court in Mytilene, on the island of Lesbos, Greece, after being accused of starting a fire at a refugee camp. The fire occurred at the Moria camp, which was originally designed for 3,000 people but was housing 12,600 refugees at the time.

The three refugees had initially been tried as adults and sentenced to 10 years in prison for their involvement in the fire. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
after presenting documents showing they were underage, the court decided to drop the charges and acquit them. The prosecution’s case was based solely on statements from another Afghan citizen who never testified in court.

Reports from the Greek media highlight that the refugees had provided evidence of their underage status during the trial, which led to their eventual acquittal. Their defense argued that they were unfairly targeted based on an anonymous accusation without concrete evidence.

With the acquittal, the refugees are now expected to pursue compensation for the time they spent unjustly imprisoned. The case has raised concerns over the treatment of minors and refugees in Greece, especially in overcrowded camps like Moria, where conditions are often harsh.

The Moria camp had been a focal point for protests and criticisms due to its overcrowded conditions. At the time of the fire, it had more than four times its capacity, leading some refugees to set fire to the camp in protest against the dire living conditions.

US aid cuts threaten life-saving services in Yemen: Amnesty
[GEO.TV] Amnesty International warned Thursday that sweeping US aid cuts, compounded by air strikes on Iran's Houthi sock puppets

, more than half of whom rely on assistance to survive.
If more than half your population relies on someplace else's generosity, it takes an IQ on the order of a shoe to start a fight with them.
The cuts risk deepening one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, Amnesty said, with the United States having been Yemen's largest humanitarian donor for years.
"Jimmy crack corn and I don't care...!"
Citing aid workers, the organization said slashing funding "has led to the shut-down of life-saving assistance and protection services".
Shooting missiles at ships at sea has led to slashing funding.
This includes treatment for malnutrition in children, services for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and other healthcare services for children.
Not of concern to the guys shooting the missiles, of much less concern to me. I think I'm into negative numbers now.
Dozens of safe spaces for battered women and girls have also been closed, Amnesty said, warning that multiple facilities providing reproductive health services or protection for women were also at risk.
The safe spaces for battered wimmin closed? Perhaps the heroic Yemeni men should stop thumping them.
"The abrupt and irresponsible cuts in US aid will have catastrophic consequences on Yemen s most vulnerable and marginalised groups, including women and girls, children and internally displaced people," said Diala Haidar, Amnesty International s Yemen researcher.

Did they ever? Back in the previous century, I heard an interview on the Beeb with an Amnesia International spokesdroid. After some chit-chat and the usual softball questions, the interviewer suddenly brought the heat: "All we ever hear about is Western evil? How come you never bitch about the bad guys?". In a surprising burst of candor, the answer was "The bad guys don't listen to us."

IDF advances in Gaza, expands buffer zone to pressure Hamas, but no fighting taking place
[IsraelTimes] Defense Minister Israel Katz claims ‘great achievements’ bringing terror group closer to agreeing on hostage deal; says military preparing for ‘big move’ to defeat Hamas

terror group several weeks ago.

The Israel Defense Forces has advanced in the Strip’s south, capturing the so-called Morag Corridor, located between the Paleostinian cities of Rafah and Khan Younis; vastly expanded its buffer zone along the Gaza border; carried out over 1,000 Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on Hamas targets, eliminating more than 40 bigwigs and mid-level commanders; and located several new tunnels.

The current offensive is aimed at "increasing the pressure on Hamas for the sake of releasing the hostages" and preparing the ground for Israel’s plan to "defeat Hamas," Defense Minister Israel Katz told news hounds on Wednesday during a visit to the Morag Corridor, an area where the IDF has previously not operated.

Katz said the IDF was bringing about "great achievements" during the resumed fighting, including evacuating the civilian population in Rafah and encircling the city.

But those "achievements" do not appear to be affecting Hamas for the time being.

Talks with the terror group to release the remaining 59 hostages still in captivity have seemingly stalled, and at the same time, Hamas operatives are almost entirely not engaging Israeli troops on the ground.

The terror group has also been recruiting more fighters and attempting to restock its limited weapon caches. The IDF estimates that the terror group has some 20,000 active fighters, half of what it had before the war.

Israeli officials have said the country is willing to engage in talks on ending the war in Gaza but will insist on achieving its aims — the return of all the hostages, the disarming of Hamas and other Gaza terror groups, the exile of Hamas leaders, and a new governing structure that does not include Hamas.

And if the terror group continues to dig in its heels and refuses to meet Israel’s demands, the IDF will eventually call up a large number of reservists to "defeat Hamas," Katz said.

"If Hamas continues its refusal and will not release the hostages soon, the IDF will move to intensive fighting across all of Gaza, until the hostages are released and Hamas is defeated," he said.

Some military officials believe that Hamas will never surrender, no matter how hard the IDF hits it.

Katz said he believed that reaching a new hostage deal with Hamas was "more likely than it was before" because of the new IDF offensive, which he said was pressuring the terror group.

"Moving the population, capturing territory, the continued humanitarian blockade, all of these bring strong pressure on Hamas to release the hostages. I hope that this pressure, alongside the powerful IDF activities, will work, and we will return to the path of releasing the hostages," he said.

Regarding the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, after Israel stopped allowing the entry of aid, Katz asserted: "There are no shortages in Gaza, and there is no intention to reopen."

Katz said that if a hostage deal happens, the IDF’s current offensive would stop "immediately."

But he said the military was still preparing for "the big move," which would involve drafting numerous reservists to defeat Hamas. "This will happen eventually," he said.

NEW CORRIDOR, EXPANDED BUFFER ZONE
Some 250,000 Paleostinians — mostly from Rafah — have evacuated areas in Gaza declared by the IDF as combat zones since March 18, and among them are many terror operatives who are choosing not to fight, according to military estimates.

The IDF launched massive strikes in southern Gaza before troops of the 188th Armored Brigade and Golani Infantry Brigade — operating under the 36th Division — entered the Morag Corridor area for the first time.

The Morag Corridor is set to run for some 15 kilometers from the Israeli border community of Sufa to the coast of the Strip, parallel to the Philadelphi Corridor on the Egypt-Gaza border area, which is also controlled by the IDF.

Once the corridor is fully established, the IDF will have effectively cut off Rafah from Khan Younis.

The military aims to operate inside areas of Rafah to defeat the remaining Hamas forces there, despite declaring six months ago that the terror group’s Rafah Brigade had already been defeated.

So far, the IDF has located several Hamas tunnels in the area between Rafah and Khan Younis, along with other terror infrastructure.

In all, the military estimates that it has destroyed just 25% of Hamas’s tunnels across the entire Strip since the beginning of the war. It argues that the main focus has been on Hamas’s attack tunnels and those used as command centers or for weapons manufacturing — the majority of which have been destroyed — rather than the numerous tunnels that Hamas uses to move around the Strip.

After Hamas’s Rafah Brigade has been defeated, the IDF’s buffer zone in southern Gaza will stretch from the Egypt border to the outskirts of Khan Younis — around 5 kilometers away — and include the entire city of Rafah within it — around 20% of the Strip.

The IDF’s buffer zone elsewhere on the border with Gaza has also been expanded from several hundred meters to around 2 kilometers in most areas.

Amid all of the new operations in Gaza in the past weeks, the IDF has only reported one incident of troops coming under fire.

With 20,000 active operatives and apparently no plans to surrender, it is unlikely that Hamas is too weakened to engage the IDF.

Rather, Hamas is preparing, just like the IDF is, for a much more major battle, one that would more than likely endanger the remaining 24 living hostages still being held by the terror group.

Iran sends new missiles to Iraqi proxies that were said to be disarming – report

has transferred new long-range missiles to proxy groups in Iraq over the past week, defying hopes that the anti-American militias would disarm amid concern of an escalation with US President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
, according to a Tuesday report, amid preparations for high-level US-Iran nuclear talks in Oman Saturday.

The deliveries from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ air force include surface-to-surface missiles that could reach as far as Europe, as well as shorter-range Quds 351 cruise and Jamal 69 ballistic missiles, The Times of London reported, citing regional intelligence sources involved in monitoring the Iran-Iraq border.

A source cited by The Times said the new long-range models had never before been given to Iraq’s separatist pro-Iranian militias, which last year killed US and IDF troops in dronezaps on military bases in the region.

"It’s a desperate move by the Iranians, risking the stability of Iraq," said the source.

The report came after Rooters reported on Monday that several powerful Iran-backed militias in Iraq had agreed to disarm for the first time to avert the threat of an escalating conflict with the Trump administration.

Arab media later cited an Iraqi political source as saying that the gangs had refused to disarm. A regional diplomatic source quoted by The Times said "the efforts seen in the last 48 hours to create a picture that the militias are disarming is a ruse."

The diplomatic source said the militias were "concerned about internal Iraqi opposition" that was wary of playing host to an Iran-backed state-within-a-state in the mold of Leb

"There are discussions in Iraq, among politicians but also in the public sphere on social media, against importing Iran’s problems to their home turf," said the source. "They look at Lebanon and are actively trying to avoid that."

rebels and pro-Iranian militias in Syria and Iraq, have also attacked Israel with missiles and drones.

Amid the conflict, Iran itself has fired hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel on two occasions last year, in the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s first-ever direct attacks on Israel. The attacks triggered Israeli responses that reportedly degraded Tehran’s air defenses and missile production capabilities, eliciting fear in Iran of a US-Israeli strike against its nuclear program.

While most of the attacks from Iraqi pro-Iranian groups have been largely ineffective, two soldiers were killed and 24 others maimed when an Iraqi drone hit their Golan Heights base in October.

The Iran-backed groups reportedly agreed to stop attacking Israel in December at the urging of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudan

i, as they waited to see how Trump would approach the region upon taking office in January.

...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier...
to launch strikes on dozens of Iranian proxy sites in Iraq and Syria, including a strike that killed the leader of pro-Iranian Iraqi militia Kataeb Hezbollah that February.

In the same month, it was reported that Iraq’s pro-Iranian militias had agreed to scale back attacks on the US at the request of the commander of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force, who had warned of a harsh US reprisal.

Iran is set to enter high-level nuclear talks with the US in Oman this Saturday, Trump announced Monday during a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

Since taking office in January, Trump has reinstated his "maximum pressure" policy, which in his first term saw the United States withdraw from a landmark 2015 agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and reimpose sanctions on Tehran. He said last month that "there will be bombing" if Iran fails to sign a nuclear deal.

The US State Department said Tuesday that Tehran was "going in" the direction of an agreement about its nuclear program, and reiterated Trump’s threat that Iran would have "hell to pay" if it fails to make a deal.

Netanyahu has argued that Iran’s nuclear facilities must be completely destroyed, either by force or through agreement. He was reportedly updated about Trump’s announcement just hours before it was made, and given no assurances that Israel’s criteria for a nuclear deal would be met or what would happen if the talks fell through.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic, whose leaders are sworn to destroy Israel, has said it opposes nuclear weapons, but has increased production of 60%-enriched uranium and already possesses enough to create a sizable nuclear arsenal, according to analysts and international watchdogs. The enrichment rate is far beyond what is necessary for a civilian nuclear program and a short step away from developing nuclear warheads.

India-Pakistan
Imran Khan backs call to make Pakistan ''hard state''
[GEO.TV] Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Wednesday that incarcerated party founder Imran Khan backed calls for making Pakistan a "hard state", stressing the importance of ensuring equal justice for all citizens.

Speaking to Geo News, Gohar quoted Imran as saying that a "hard state" would guarantee the rule of law and uniform implementation of justice.

"Imran said Pakistan should not remain a soft state, where the law is not consistently upheld," he added.

The 71-year-old cricketer-turned-politician, who has been behind bars since August 2023 after he was booked in multiple cases from corruption to terrorism, apparently backed the statement made by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.

Last month, the army chief blamed the "soft state" image for the loss of innocent lives amid rising terror activities, asking for how long they [armed forces] will fill the "gaps of governance" with martyrs' blood.

"We need better governance... we should make Pakistan a hard state," he said while addressing a high-level in-camera meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, which was skipped by major opposition parties, including the former ruling party.

The in-camera session came against the backdrop of rising terrorism in Pakistan, including a major terrorist attack on a passenger train in the Mushqaf area of the Bolan district in Balochistan.

Dozens of militants, affiliated with the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), blew up a railway track and assaulted the Jaffar Express on Tuesday, carrying more than 440 passengers — who were taken hostage.

The security forces, after a complex clearance operation, neutralised 33 attackers and rescued the hostage passengers.

Addressing the crucial session, COAS Munir asserted that no agenda, movement, or individual is greater than national security. "If this country exists, so do we; therefore, nothing is more important to us than its security," he added.

"All elements of national power must operate in unison to achieve lasting stability," he emphasised, declaring that it is a fight for the nation's survival and the future of generations to come.

Trump again warns Iran against nuclear ambitions, issues more sanctions
Carrot and stick.
[GEO.TV] US President Donald Trump on Wednesday repeated his threat to use military force if Iran did not agree to end its nuclear program, saying Israel would play a key role.

Trump said Iran could not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.

US issues new sanctions on Iran as Trump seeks nuclear talks

[IsraelTimes] Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Tehran’s ‘reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons’ is a ‘grave’ threat; among those targeted is company supplying Iranian centrifuge-maker

The United States issued fresh sanctions targeting Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Wednesday, the Treasury Department said, two days after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th and 47th President of the United States...
announced planned direct talks with Tehran over its nuclear program.

The US Treasury Department, in a statement, said it imposed sanctions on five Iran-based entities and one person based in Iran for their support of Iran’s nuclear program with the aim of denying Tehran a nuclear weapon.

"The Iranian regime’s reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons remains a grave threat to the United States and a menace to regional stability and global security," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in the statement. "Treasury will continue to leverage our tools and authorities to disrupt any attempt by Iran to advance its nuclear program and its broader destabilizing agenda."

Iran’s mission to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
in New York did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The action came after Trump made a surprise announcement on Monday alongside visiting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US and Iran were poised to begin direct talks on Tehran’s nuclear program, but Iran’s foreign minister said the discussions in Oman would be indirect.

In a further sign of the difficult path to any deal between the two geopolitical foes, Trump issued a stark warning that if the talks were unsuccessful, "Iran is going to be in great danger."

The Treasury said those targeted on Wednesday supported two previously sanctioned entities that manage and oversee the country’s nuclear program, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and its subordinate, the Iran Centrifuge Technology Company (TESA).

Among those targeted was a company that manufactures aluminum for TESA, an AEOI subordinate responsible for a number of nuclear reactor projects and a company tasked with developing thorium-fueled reactor technologies.

In practical terms, the move is symbolic as the US already enforces sweeping sanctions on Iran, particularly its nuclear program. But the sanctions are the latest show of pressure by the United States ahead of the talks, which are set to take place Saturday in Oman.

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Tuesday that Iran can expect tighter sanctions if it does not come to an agreement with Trump on its nuclear program.

Efforts to settle a dispute over Iran’s nuclear program, which it says is purely for civilian use but which Western countries see as a precursor to an atomic bomb, have ebbed and flowed for more than 20 years without resolution.

Iranian officials told Rooters on Tuesday that Tehran is approaching weekend talks with the United States over its nuclear program warily, with little confidence in progress and deep suspicions over US intentions.

Germany halts Refugee Resettlement through UNHCR
[KhaamaPress] Germany has suspended its refugee resettlement program through UNHCR due to political shifts, halting future voluntary refugee intakes.

Germany has temporarily suspended its refugee resettlement program through the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The Interior Ministry of Germany announced the decision on Tuesday, April 8, stating that the program, which has been active since 2016, is currently on hold.

This suspension comes at a time when a new coalition government is expected to be formed between the conservative CDU/CSU party, led by Friedrich Merz, and the Social Democratic Party. According to documents obtained by Rooters, the coalition parties have agreed to halt voluntary refugee intake programs, including the UN resettlement program, and not to launch any new programs.

Since 2016, Germany has been part of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s resettlement scheme, which transfers refugees identified by the UNHCR in countries like The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya, and Libya to European countries. As of 2024, Germany has accepted 4,711 refugees through this program.

Despite this temporary halt, Germany had committed to accepting 13,000 refugees under the program in 2024 and 2025. The Ministry of the Interior stated that cases already in advanced stages, where specific commitments have been made, will continue to be processed.

The decision to suspend the program follows rising domestic pressure, particularly the increasing popularity of the far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), and several violent mostly peaceful incidents attributed to refugees. These developments have pushed conservative German parties to adopt stricter immigration policies.

The suspension of the UNHCR refugee resettlement program in Germany reflects the growing challenges faced by European countries in balancing humanitarian commitments with rising political pressures. With the formation of a new government, the future of Germany’s refugee policy remains uncertain.

Many human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
groups have criticized the move, arguing that it will reduce the support available to refugees who have already been displaced by conflict. The halt in resettlement programs also raises questions about Germany’s role in the broader European refugee crisis.

Iraq arrests 48 for ‘witchcraft and sorcery’ in crackdown on fraud, human-trafficking
I don’t see where human trafficking comes into it, but the international trade does not appear to be involved.
[Rudaw] Iraq’s interior ministry announced on Tuesday the arrest of 48 individuals, both men and women, across several provinces for engaging in "witchcraft and sorcery," in a campaign that saw the direct backing of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council.

The state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) cited the ministry as stating that "the arrest was made by the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency [FIIA], specifically the Directorate for Combating Human Trafficking, over a period of two weeks."

The campaign targeted locations in Baghdad and other provinces "where witchcraft and sorcery were practiced in Baghdad and other provinces" the ministry said, adding that "those arrested were involved in human trafficking, exploiting victims through fraudulent and deceptive means," and "practicing sorcery while claiming to offer spiritual healing or solutions to family problems."

The operation was conducted with the direct support of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council, which "emphasized the importance of combating these dangerous phenomena, as they intersect with human trafficking crimes and pose a direct threat to social peace, ethical values, and the rule of law."

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in extortion, deception, and psychological and physical exploitation of victims, particularly women and kiddies, in blatant violation of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
and dignity.

FIIA affirmed that this campaign is "part of the national strategy to combat human trafficking," stressing that "the effective coordination with [Iraq’s] Supreme Judicial Council contributed to accelerating judicial procedures and bringing the perpetrators to justice."

Under Iraq’s Penal Code, witchcraft and sorcery are addressed under fraud Article 456, which punishes anyone who profits from fraudulent practices, including exploiting people's beliefs in magic for financial gain, with penalties of up to five years in prison.

Civil society organizations in Iraq have long warned about the growing prevalence of witchcraft and sorcery in the country. Many Iraqis seek these services, which, they argue, contribute to social and security issues.

A 2012 Pew Research Center survey found that belief in witchcraft exists among a substantial number of Moslems in the Middle East and North Africa.

In Iraq, 55 percent of Moslems surveyed said they believed in witchcraft, evil eye as well as supernatural beings.

Of note, in Islam, the majority view considers witchcraft sacrilegious, as it may involve associating others with God, a concept known in Arabic as ’Shirk.’ The latter is regarded as the gravest sin in Islamic theology, as it undermines the fundamental belief in the oneness of God.

At least 60,000 of Gaza's children malnourished as Israel's aid block continues
[GEO.TV] At least 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip are "at risk of serious health complications due to malnutrition" amid dwindling food supplies as Israel continues to block aid, says the health ministry.

No aid has entered the enclave since March 2 as Israel continues to seal vital border crossing.
Hamas warehouses are full to bursting with confiscated supplies intended by the donors for Gaza civilians. Hamas is making pots of money selling to those civilians at war profiteer prices, which of course leads to hunger for those with little money and few connections. Barring entry has nothing to do with it.
Barring of entry of food to medical supplies and fuel has forced the closure of 21 nutrition centres, disrupting care for about 350 children already severely malnourished, says the UN.
1. Lay down arms.
2. Stop strutting around like conquering heroes. You ain't.
3. Hang anybody who calls for jihad, against Yehuds or anybody else.
4. Try to at least approximate a civilized society.

Fun facts:
1. If there's a Paradise, everybody's got the same crack at it.
2. If there's not a Paradise and you get yourself killed for the sake of a non-existent Allen, you've expended all the life you're ever gonna get.
3. That means no 72 self-reflowering virgins. What do you get if you get an arm or a leg blown off? You'll get even less when you're dead, regardless of what your holy man told you back in the madrassa or the UN school. Don't believe me? Ask him how he knows. How long was he dead?

Once again, I ask.
How about getting our own nation in order, before feeding the world?

While I am sure we all feel bad for the kids affected.
The Gaza adults and their idiotic support of Terrorists willing to sacrifice all, including Gaza kids, for a Genocidal agenda.

Remember the recent last time #,#### trucks delivered food and supplies?
Remember how many were hijacked by the terrorists to refill their tunnels?
Remember how many were caught trying to funnel in war materials hidden in with the food and supplies?

NOW STOP & LOOK AT THE USA.

Google & Pull up the 2024 USDA Food Security Report.
It clearly shows, while the DC Swamp was dumping $$$'s Billions around the world
in 2020-2024, and skimming $$$ Millions for their own pockets in the process.

We here in the USA saw very significant increases in the number of US citizens NOT
being able to obtain or afford to buy basic food supplies.

The USDA own 2024 official numbers show: 47.4 million US people affected in just 2023.
Which was clearly 3 years into the O'BIDEN Regime and its PP handling.

NOTE: That number, included 13.8 million US children.

Question: If the Liberals, Socialists, and Democrats (LSD's) are
the champions of the poor, as they claimed. Then where #$%^& were they? Because even the Liberal MSM was reporting these numbers and who were affected the most. Yes!. The same voters the LSD's claim to protect and care for, all while they brought in 10.5 Millions more Illegal mouths to feed and house.

Based on recent DOGE findings, it seems many LSD's were filling their own Families pockets in creative ways.

Three Quetta police cops martyred in terrorist attack
[GEO.TV] A police mobile van came under attack of bully boyz that left three personnel dead and another maimed, police said on Thursday.

According to police officials, personnel from the New Sariab cop shoppe were on board the van that were ambushed by terrorists. Police officials said that bully boyz opened reckless fire at the personnel.

The martyred personnel include a sub-inspector and two constables, said the police officials.

Reacting to the terrorist incident, Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned it and dubbed it a "dastardly assault" by the terrorists.

"We will take the bully boyz to their logical end," the chief minister reiterated, stressing the state is not weak and it will respond with full force by eliminating the bully boyz completely.

Last week, security forces killed two bully boyz during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Kech district of Balochistan, the military's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, adding the IBO was conducted in the general area of Buleda on the reported presence of terrorists.

The killed bully boyz were involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the law enforcement agencies as well as the innocent civilians, the military said.

The country has been reeling under increased terrorist attacks targeting law enforcers and security forces since the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Terrifying image shows hooded gunmen roaming Virginia neighborhood before killing three, 4 teens tied up after illegal gun sale gone wrong
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Authorities in Virginia are on the hunt for multiple suspects who are believed to have opened fire on a townhouse - killing three people, and wounding three others.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff's office announced Tuesday night that it had received a call at around 5:30pm about a shooting at a complex outside of Fredericksburg.

When deputies then arrived on the scene, they found three people dead from gunshot wounds outside and three others who were rushed to a local hospital for their injuries.

Their conditions remained unclear early Wednesday morning, as did a motive for the shooting.

But Maj. Elizabeth Scott, spokesperson for the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, said at a news conference that deputies are looking into the possibility that the shooting was committed by more than one person.

Photos obtained by Fox 5 also showed two people holding what appeared to be long-guns walking down the street in the moments before the shooting.

'There's dozens upon dozens of officers out actively looking for suspects and preserving the scene of the crime,' Scott said.

'We will be here all night until we find the suspects,' she said during an evening news conference.

4 teenagers arrested after Spotsylvania mass shooting

[MSN] Four teenagers were arrested after Tuesday night's deadly shooting in a residential area of the county, which police have now characterized as an illegal gun sale that turned violent mostly peaceful.

Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said it found and took all suspects into custody around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Now, they've confirmed that two 16-year-olds, one 17-year-old and one 18-year-old were arrested. Only the 18-year-old, Jeremiah Upson, has been named at this time. Two of the teenagers are from Spotsylvania County and two are from Caroline County.

Police responded to the shooting around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Olde Greenwich Circle in Spotsylvania. Three people were killed and three people were critically injured, the sheriff's office and State Sen. Bryce Reaves confirmed.

"Initial investigation reveals that this was an illegal gun sale/robbery," Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office wrote in a blurb Wednesday morning. They did not provide any more details on the relationship between the people involved. They also did not say what prompted the shooting.

The two of the three people killed in the incident have now been named. They are 18-year-old Chase Feaster and 18-year-old Alonzo Goffney, both of Spotsylvania County. The name of the third victim, a 20-year-old, is being withheld pending confirmation from the medical examiner's office.

The three injured people have not been named, but police have confirmed that one of the 16-year-old suspects is injured in the hospital. They will be moved to jail when they are released, where the other three are also being held with no bond.

Trump Weighs Drone Strikes On Mexican Cartel Terrorists Amid Major Hemispheric Defense Push
[ZeroHedge] After two months of U.S. military surveillance flights targeting Mexican drug cartels—with the initial phase focused on gathering signals intelligence (SIGINT) over cartel-controlled territory—a new NBC News report hints at the second phase...

The report cites six current and former U.S. military, law enforcement, and intelligence officials with knowledge of the Trump administration are considering targeted drone strikes against Mexican drug cartels - now designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

Here's more from NBC News:

Discussions among White House, Defense Department and intelligence officials, which are still at an early stage, have included possible drone strikes against cartel figures and their logistical networks in Mexico with the cooperation of Mexico's government, the sources said.

Still, the administration has made no final decision and reached no definitive agreement about countering the cartels. And unilateral covert action, without Mexico's consent, has not been ruled out and could be an option of last resort, the sources said. It is unclear whether American officials have floated the possibility of drone strikes to the Mexican government.

All six sources said SIGINT operations over Mexico have dramatically risen in recent months. A development readers have understood from the start of February:

  • USAF Spy Plane Runs SIGINT Operation Near Cabo As U.S. Preps For Potential Cartel Fight

  • USAF Spy Jet Flies Second SIGINT Operation On US Border With Focus On Narco Hub

  • CIA Reportedly Flying MQ-9 Spy Drones Over Mexico As Cartel Fight Nears

  • Border Czar "Expects" Kinetic Warfare Between U.S. Troops & Mexican Drug Cartels

  • U.S. Designates Mexican Cartels As "Foreign Terrorists," Signaling Financial Warfare Looms

Sources noted that Trump officials had pivoted the military, intelligence, and law enforcement resources toward combating the cartels.

Two guided-missile destroyers have recently been positioned in the region for a "southern border mission"...

  • NORTHCOM Deploys Guided-Missile Destroyer For "Southern Border Mission" As Hemispheric Defense Takes Shape

  • NORTHCOM Deploys Second Guided-Missile Destroyer For US Southern Border Operations

Making sense of it all: Dismantling the command-and-control structures and networks of FTO-designated drug cartels in Mexico is part of a broader mission to secure hemispheric defense. We suspect Mexican banks could be targeted next—similar to the recent anti-money laundering penalty against TD Bank—as part of efforts to clean up the financial system across North America.

This will all come to an end under Trump.

Economy
Trump chose a trade war to avoid dragging the world into a real one
[REGNUM] The global trade war declared by America to the entire world is most often assessed as simply a whim of Donald Trump - the US President decided to change the rules of the game in America's trade with the world, albeit at the cost of a global economic crisis.

He believes in his plan, and now everything depends on whether he can bend most of the world's major countries or whether an economic crisis will unfold that will engulf the United States and the rest of the world. A global crisis will eventually lead to a restructuring of the entire world trade and financial system, and globalization will become a thing of the past.

But such a contrast is at the very least incorrect. Because globalization will die in any case. More precisely, it is already dying, and Trump's trade revolution has become precisely the consequence of this process, not its cause.

The model of US global dominance based on military power and the dollar as the world's trade and reserve currency has no future. It could only be successful with the endless, progressive, victorious march of Anglo-Saxon globalization.

That is, a model of globalization in which the collective West (with an Anglo-Saxon core) controls the global financial system and trade, and is also a military-political hegemon capable of suppressing all attempts to consolidate alternative centers of power (or at least manage all significant conflicts).

This model does not work. Not because Russia has issued a military challenge or because China has become the number one trading power, but because the very idea of a "world government" — not only as a collective leadership, but also as the management of the entire world order from the United States, which was supposed to "shepherd the people" — has failed.

Although the world has become unimaginably united and interdependent, its complexity and diversity have proven to be far beyond the capabilities of the globalizers, and the continuation of the construction of the Tower of Babel has become dangerous for them.

At any moment it could fall on their heads. And although it was quite possible to try to delay the end for a few more years, Trump and part of the American global elite decided not to take risks. They launched a preemptive strike, collapsing the unfinished Tower of Babel.

This fall, according to their plan, should not bury the USA, but, on the contrary, strengthen them. Only it will not be "the USA - the global hegemon and the center of world governance", but the USA as the most powerful state in the world. Trump is finishing off globalization in order to save the USA as a national state. And he will not stop on this path.

It is now impossible to predict the course of events, but we can speak with much more certainty about their outcome.

Will there be a protracted global economic crisis or will everything be limited to a fall in financial markets and a decline in world trade with its subsequent restructuring? The second option is much more likely.

Will the US experience an economic recession, developing into a depression, which will provoke an internal political crisis, up to the collapse of the state, or will the States be able to rebuild their trade balance, move to new industrialization and maintain the dollar's status as a world reserve currency? And here the second option seems more realistic in the medium term.

However, the US will still be burdened with a huge debt and the problem of de-dollarization of the global economy. A trade war, successful or not, will in any case accelerate the process of forming a global alternative to the dollar.

It is unclear whether it will be the yuan or a specially created (BRICS or pan-Asian) unit of account, but the reduction in US-Chinese trade turnover and the general separation of the economies of the two largest countries in the world will be combined with the creation of separate trade and financial systems of the West and the East.

The polarization of the world will accelerate, but it will occur not only around the United States and China, but also due to the strengthening of several regional centers of power (associations) that will try to play on two poles.

The US, of course, wants to maintain the dollar's dominance, but after the burial of globalization it will be impossible to maintain it for long. The dollar, of course, will remain the world's main reserve and trading currency for some time, but with an ever-decreasing share.

The inevitable decline in America's military dominance in the world - one of the key ideas of Trump and Trumpists - will also lead to a decrease in the value of the dollar.

The United States will, of course, save trillions by abandoning its claims to global hegemony, but ultimately it will lose control over the entire global financial system, which will fragment.

So Trump (or rather, the continuation of his course in the next decade) will ultimately leave the US without military dominance and the dollar as a global weapon? Yes. But this will not be America's defeat. This will be its salvation and restoration as a national state, that is, the strongest power in the world (and later - only in the Western Hemisphere).

Europe
German Journalist Given Seven Month Sentence for Meme
[Breitbart] Germany has been accused of violating basic Western values yet again, as a news editor in Germany faces a hefty fine and a seven month prison sentence for posting a meme mocking the government’s "hatred" of free speech.

The Bamberg district court in Bavaria sentenced Deutschland-Kurier editor David Bendels this week to seven months in prison on probation and a fine of nearly sixty per cent of his annual income, or 210 ’daily rates’, for posting an image on social media of Interior Minister Nancy Faeser holding an altered sign.

The common meme tactic of changing the words on signs held by politicians for satirical purposes was used to make Faeser’s sign read: "I hate freedom of speech".

Bendels was initially convicted in November, and the ruling was confirmed on Monday, finding that he had committed "defamation directed against people in political life," Die Welt reported on Tuesday.

#5  Probably a good thing. Many Germans believe that this law (and its interpretation) has gone way to far. The ruling will of course be appealed and I doubt it will stand. The whole law will probably be challenged at the Federal Constitutional Court.

The meme is clearly satire. The court held that Bendels published a “factual claim about the Minister of the Interior, Ms. Faeser, that is not recognizable by the unbiased reader as deliberately untrue and disparaging, and which is likely to significantly impair her public image”.

If you believe that a Minister of the Interior would hold up a sign saying "I hate freedom of speech" you're an idiot, not an "unbiased reader".

Funny enough, the post is still up.

The prosecution asked to sentence General Popov to six years in prison
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The state prosecution has asked to sentence the former commander of the 58th Army, Major General Ivan Popov, who is accused of fraud, to six years in prison and to strip him of his rank, Popov's lawyer Sergei Buinovsky reported on April 9.
A Russian major general is the US equivalent of a brigadier general.
“During the debate of the parties, the state prosecution asked that Ivan Ivanovich be deprived of his freedom for a period of six years, with the sentence to be served in a general regime penal colony,” Buinovsky told TASS.

More from regnum.ru

Stripped of rank, General Popov will be sent to the modern Russian equivalent of a penal battalion.

General Popov, accused of fraud, will be sent to the SVO zone
The former commander of the 58th Army, Major General Ivan Popov, will be sent to the special operation zone. This was reported on April 9 by his lawyer Sergei Buinovsky.

He clarified that the Ministry of Defense decided to sign a contract with Popov for participation in the SVO.

"We have filed a motion to suspend the proceedings and cancel the preventive measure. The same motion has been filed on behalf of the Ministry of Defense," Izvestia quoted the human rights activist as saying.

Buinovsky added that the general thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his support and trust.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Major General Popov was detained in May 2024. According to investigators, the officer participated in the theft of more than 1,700 tons of metal structures intended for the construction of fortifications in the Zaporizhia region. The damage was estimated at 114.5 million rubles. The key evidence of the general's guilt was the transfer of more than 1 million rubles to his bank card from Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov.

, particularly its southern regions, despite a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reports that an Israeli drone targeted the vicinity of a public school in the town of Ramyah earlier in the evening, but there was no immediate confirmation on potential casualties.

Israeli warplanes also conducted several mock raids over Nabatieh, Iqlim al-Tuffah and Jezzine in the south, while a drone flew continuously over Tyre and its surroundings at a low altitude.

A number of Lebanese homeowners in the town of Yater located in Tyre reportedly received threatening phone calls from the Israeli army that they will be bombed if they do not flee their houses.

Syrian Kurds struggle to repair key dam damaged by militants
[Rudaw] Kurdish authorities in northern Syria have used nearly two weeks of no bombardment on the crucial Tishreen Dam to repair damages caused by months of attacks by militia groups, an official told Rudaw English on Monday.

The dam, located southeast of Manbij city on the Euphrates River, was constructed in 1999 and is one of Syria’s largest in terms of production and capacity. It generates electricity and once provided power to much of the Kurdish-held northeast Syria (Rojava).

But The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

and the Syrian militia groups it supports have launched attacks on the structure since November, seeking to control the dam for easier access into other areas held by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Despite the surrounding area remaining a hotspot of conflict, the dam’s structure has not been attacked for nearly two weeks. Workers have used the brief window of opportunity to repair parts that have been severely damaged by the conflict, a senior dam official told Rudaw English on the condition of anonymity.

"The dam is not in good condition and needs much repair. There is no fear of collapse so far, but the structure has definitely been harmed. We planned to repair the part that transmits electricity [to other areas], but I am not sure if we will succeed," said the official, fearing renewed attacks on the dam.

He explained that six groups are working at the dam. One group is focused on repairing the electricity, while another is responsible for controlling the water. Some of their computers have stopped working due to bombing and water infiltration.

Syria’s state-owned SANA news agency reported on Saturday that maintenance teams arrived at the key dam to begin repairing the structure for operation.

The dam official said that some workers who live in areas outside Kurdish control have returned to the dam after abandoning it for months due to constant attacks on the structure. He noted that Damascus may have instructed these workers to return to the dam.

"We have not been informed that anyone would be sent [by the central government]," he said, adding that the personnel who returned to the dam had contacted him before making the decision to make sure that their stay would be safe.

Ali Demir, the manager of the dam, has repeatedly warned that a "disaster" could happen if attacks on the structure continue. He also said any huge damage to the dam would pose a threat to the people living downstream, which includes neighboring Iraq.

Convoys of civilians from SDF-held areas have arrived at the dam to form a human shield. Several have been killed while on the way to the dam or during protests. The SDF has blamed Turkey and the militia groups it supports, who call themselves the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The SDF said on Sunday that there are local and international efforts for "a ceasefire across all Syrian territories."

SDF chief Mazloum Abdi and Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a landmark agreement last month that calls for a ceasefire across Syria.

Kurdish officials in northeast Syria have also hinted at talks between them and Ankara to end tensions despite ongoing festivities.

IDF: Hezbollah working to rebuild Beirut arms production site in breach of ceasefire
[IsraelTimes] Terror group has allegedly returned equipment to facility — located under residential buildings, next to a school — that Israel bombed in November, as US urges group’s disarmament

The Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday that the Hezbollah terror group is attempting to rebuild a weapons manufacturing site in Beirut’s southern suburbs and trying to conceal its activity from a US-led mechanism monitoring the ceasefire, of which this would be a violation.

In a post on X, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, Col. Avichay Adraee, said the weapons site, located under residential buildings and next to a school, was bombed by Israel in November 2024.

Adraee said that after the IDF sent the truce mechanism information on Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild the site in early January, a surprise inspection was carried out.

"However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
aerial photographs show that Hezbollah, which had been informed in advance of the date of the inspection, had evacuated the engineering equipment that had been operating at the site on the day the inspection was conducted, and then returned it after it had ended," he said.

He added that the Hezbollah activity at the site is a "blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Leb
...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. Only one of those statements is an exaggeration....
under the ceasefire agreement."

The area south of Beirut, known as Dahiyeh, in which the alleged manufacturing facility is located, has long been a Hezbollah stronghold. The IDF frequently hit targets there during the recent war, including in the massive strike that killed Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah in September 2024.

Adraee’s post about the facility came amid calls to disarm the group, whose overland and air conduits for weapons were largely shut down due to Israeli attacks, the fall of Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

in Syria and crackdowns on smuggling by the Lebanese government.

According to a Tuesday report in the Saudi al-Hadath news outlet, citing a Western official, the Iran-backed terror group has shifted to using a sea-based route for smuggling, beginning to reassert control over Beirut’s seaport for that purpose.

A US envoy in Lebanon last weekend repeated Washington’s position that Hezbollah and other gangs should be disarmed as soon as possible, and that the Lebanese army is expected to do the job.

A Rooters report on Tuesday, citing Lebanese political officials, said that US-backed President Joseph Aoun intends to open talks with Hezbollah over its arsenal soon.

The report also quoted an unnamed senior Hezbollah official, who said the group was ready to discuss its arms in the context of a national defense strategy, but that this hinged on Israel pulling out its troops from the five hilltops in southern Lebanon where the IDF maintains a presence.

Ihab Hamadeh, a Lebanese MP for Hezbollah, rejected that report on Wednesday, telling Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...

This is how Hezbollah is trying to rebuild a production site in the southern suburb, concealing its activity from the oversight mechanism and lying to the Lebanese: During a surprise inspection, the engineering equipment disappeared and returned to work after it was completed, contrary to the ceasefire agreement.

🔸 The IDF reveals that in recent months, Hezbollah has been trying to rebuild an underground weapons production site in the heart of the Choueifat neighborhood in the southern suburb, which was established near a school and under residential buildings, after it was targeted in November 2024.

🔸 Information about these attempts was transferred to the monitoring mechanism in early January, and accordingly it was decided to conduct a surprise inspection of the site. However, aerial photographs showed that Hezbollah, which had been informed in advance of the date of the inspection, had evacuated the engineering equipment that had been operating at the site on the day the inspection was conducted, and then returned it after it had ended.

🔸 This dangerous activity constitutes a flagrant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon under the ceasefire agreement.

🔸 The IDF remains committed to the continued implementation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel and prevent any attempt to establish itself by the terrorist Hezbollah.

Pakistan among four countries making up half of global maternal deaths: UN report
[GEO.TV] Pakistain is ranked among four countries — together with Nigeria, India and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC) — that accounted for nearly half of the estimated 260,000 maternal deaths worldwide in 2023, according to UN data released on Monday that has prompted stark warnings about the impact of cuts to aid funding by the US and the UK.

Maternal deaths include those related to complications during childbirth or pregnancy, three UN agencies said in a joint report.

The trends in maternal mortality report was published by the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organisation
...Kind of like the Center for Disease Control only run by the UN, with about the results you'd expectt...>
(WHO) and UN sexual and reproductive health agency UNFPA, in observance of World Health Day on April 7.

The report showed that Nigeria had the highest number of maternal deaths and accounted for more than a quarter (28.7%) of all estimated global maternal deaths in 2023, with approximately 75,000 deaths.

Only three other countries had more than 10,000 maternal deaths in 2023 — India and DRC tied at 19,000, with Pakistain totaling 11,000. India and DRC accounted for 7.2% each, while Pakistain accounted for 4.1% of global maternal deaths.

Together, these four countries accounted for almost half (47%) of all maternal deaths globally in 2023, according to the report.

The report warned that unprecedented aid cuts are putting global progress to end maternal deaths at risk and called for greater investment in midwives and other health workers.

It shows that maternal deaths declined by 40% between 2000 and 2023, largely due to improved access to essential health services.

US stock indices began to rise sharply after Trump's statement
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The main indices on the New York Stock Exchange are showing a sharp rise after US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of tariffs for a number of countries. This is evidenced by trading data.

Thus, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 6.2% and amounted to 39,979.36 points, and the S&P 500 increased by 6.94% to 5,328.47 points. The Nasdaq Composite index increased by 9.68% and amounted to 16,745.67 points. This index includes quotes from over 3 thousand corporations from the US and beyond.

Earlier, the head of the White House called on stock market players to buy up shares amid a drop in their prices due to duties. Following this, shares of the American leader's company Trump Media & Technology Group began to grow.

On the evening of April 9, the US President announced the suspension of tariffs on more than 75 countries. The retaliatory tariffs will be suspended for 90 days, the measure comes into effect immediately. At the same time, Trump announced an increase in tariffs on goods from China to 125%.

In turn, Beijing called on the United States to abandon threats, blackmail and unilateral economic intimidation. Countermeasures after the introduction of additional American tariffs will continue "until the end," said the official representative of the embassy in Washington, Liu Pengyu.

#1  During the "Weekend at Bernie's" presidency, the leftist media pretended not to know what was going on with the economy, and the right *still* believed America is the greatest nation on earth. Stocks remained strong, not because anyone believed in *that* joke of an administration, but because we still believed in our nation.

Today, half of our nation (still) doesn't believe in anything, and that half caused the bumpiness we've endured.

By June, the market will be roaring...and the left will be whining about mean tweets or something else similarly unimportant.

Ukrainian Armed Forces on how they broke into Belgorod region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are fighting in the Belgorod region.

In the Belgorod region, they spent more than 10 billion rubles on "modern and reliable fortifications", but they were overcome.

Russian military showed a video of a breakthrough of the border of the Belgorod region of Russia. The video was published by the 225th separate assault regiment (OShP) on Wednesday, April 9.

"After our operation in the Kursk region, the Russians "drew conclusions": they strengthened all borders to prevent a repeat breakthrough in another place. In the Belgorod region, they spent more than 10 billion rubles on "modern and reliable fortifications"... What's wrong with your face, Russians?" the report says.

The military accompanied the recording with a video of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' armored vehicles successfully overcoming Russian fortifications - minefields, a ditch, an embankment, and "dragon's teeth."

Let us recall that on March 20, there were reports of an alleged breakthrough of Ukrainian troops into the territory of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation. The Russians announced the evacuation of civilians in the Krasnoyaruz district.
