India-Pakistan
J&K: Security Forces Kill A Terrorist After Gunbattle In Udhampur
Since it’s Kashmir, the terrorist is probably a Pakistan proxy. Story from Friday — just checking it to see if anything has happened since the last big blowup in April.
[OneIndia] In a joint operation, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Police successfully eliminated a terrorist in Basantgarh, Udhampur district. The operation, named Operation Bihali, was conducted by the Army's White Knight Corps. Although the terrorist has been "neutralized," the operation continues. This action was initiated based on specific intelligence received earlier today.

Security measures in Jammu and Kashmir have been heightened ahead of the Amarnath yatra. To ensure safety, 180 companies of Central police forces have been deployed. The 38-day pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in the south Kashmir Himalayas, is set to begin on July 3. Pilgrims can choose between two routes: the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag district or the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Following the Pulwama terror attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 casualties, anti-terror operations have intensified in the region. Some holy warriors involved were Pak nationals. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror bases within Pakistain. These included Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...>
's headquarters in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammed's base in Bahawalpur.

On May 22, a soldier lost his life during an encounter with holy warriors in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. Four holy warriors were trapped during this incident. This encounter occurred a week after six holy warriors were eliminated in another operation in south Kashmir.

Pakistain attempted to retaliate by targeting Indian military and civilian installations using drones and missiles over three consecutive days. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
these attempts largely failed to achieve their objectives.

Syrian forces seize 3 million captagon pills in operation near Lebanese border
[IsraelTimes] Damascus says forces set up a roadside ambush that ‘led to clashes between the security forces and members of the cell’; drug was key source of income for ousted Assad regime

Syria said Friday that authorities had seized some three million pills of the illicit stimulant captagon after festivities with a drug trafficking network near the Lebanese border.

Authorities observed the network "coming from Leb
...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
into Syrian territory" via illegal border crossings in the Jarajir area in the northern Damascus countryside, according to a statement released by the interior ministry.

Syrian forces set up a roadside ambush that "led to festivities between the security forces and members of the cell," some of whom abandoned their vehicle and fled, the statement said.

"Around three million pills of the drug captagon were seized in addition to 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of hashish," the statement said, adding that authorities would not allow Syrian territory "to be a passage or haven for drug smuggling."

Lebanon and Syria share a porous, 330-kilometer (205-mile) border that is notorious for smuggling.

Captagon, which is also produced in Lebanon, became Syria’s largest export during Syria’s civil war, which erupted in 2011.

The drug turned Syria into the world’s largest narco state. It became by far Syria’s biggest export, dwarfing all its legal exports put together, according to estimates drawn from official data by AFP during a 2022 investigation.

It was also a key source of illicit funding for the government of longtime ruler Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
The deposed strongman’s brother, Maher, a military commander, was widely accused of being the power behind the lucrative captagon trade.

Since his overthrow in December, the new Islamist authorities have sought to crack down on the drug trade and have announced the discovery of millions of captagon pills and said they have thwarted smuggling attempts.

Earlier this month, Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab said authorities had seized all captagon production facilities in Syria.

Gulf shipping costs drop as Israel-Iran ceasefire holds
[IsraelTimes] Shipping costs for the Gulf have fallen in the past two days after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Iran, although rates could rebound if tensions increase, shipping and insurance industry sources say.

The conflict had raised concerns that Iran could close Hormuz, the strait between Iran and Oman through which around 20% of global oil and gas demand flows, amid broader fears that oil could soar to $100 a barrel.

Shipping rates for supertankers, which can carry 2 million barrels of oil, jumped over the past week before the ceasefire, more than doubling to over $60,000 a day. Rates were quoted around $50,000 a day on Thursday, freight data shows.

“Tanker rates … have been pulling back following the halt to hostilities between Israel and Iran,” Jefferies analyst Omar Nokta says.

UK college apologizes for allowing ‘culture’ of antisemitism, launches improvement plan
[IsraelTimes] Goldsmiths, a college in the University of London, has apologized to its Jewish students and staff for allowing a “culture” of antisemitism to build up on its campus over recent years.

Following an independent inquiry commissioned by the school’s governing council, it will now work to implement a two-year action plan to tackle the problem, the school says.

“The inquiry sets out a disturbing picture, and I am sorry that our community and culture fell short of the behaviors we expect,” says the school’s Vice-Chancellor Frances Corner.

The report laid out a set of 17 recommendations to be implemented by 2027 that will improve support services for students, upgrade reporting and tracking mechanisms, and rethink staff training, the school says.

Antisemitism has spiked in the UK and around the world since Hamas launched its war against Israel on October 7, 2023. A report presented by StandWithUs UK to the UK Parliament’s House of Lords in May showed that Jewish university students across Great Britain are facing unprecedented levels of antisemitism, with many reporting being attacked, threatened and intimidated on campus.

In 2022, Goldsmiths said it would investigate allegations of antisemitism after a Jewish professor, David Hirsh, was publicly attacked as a “far right white supremacist” and a “Zionist Goldsmiths academic.”

34 Gazans said killed in IDF strikes; army issues evacuation warning after rocket fire

by Israeli strikes on Friday night and Saturday morning, local health staff said, as Paleostinians face a growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

One strike reportedly killed 12 people at the Paleostine Stadium in Gaza City, which was sheltering displaced people, and eight more living in apartments, according to staff at Shifa Hospital, where the bodies were brought.

Six others were killed in southern Gaza when a strike hit their tent in Muwasi, according to the hospital.

The military has yet to comment on the strikes, which came a day after IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that the military’s latest offensive in Gaza will soon "reach the lines" defined by the government.

By declaring that the military was in sight of achieving its goals, analysts said that Zamir was signaling to the government the need to decide whether to move forward with a hostage-ceasefire deal or prepare for the IDF to establish military rule in the Strip.

Meanwhile,

on Friday night, a rocket launched from the central Gaza Strip was intercepted by air defenses, the military said.

No sirens sounded in towns, but an alert was activated in open areas near the border. The IDF said no injuries were caused.

After the rocket fire, the IDF’s Arabic spokesperson issued an evacuation warning for residents in parts of the central Gaza Strip, instructing them to head southward ahead of military operations in the area.

The statement said the IDF will employ intensive firepower "to destroy the capabilities of terrorist organizations in these areas, and will attack any area used for launching rockets."

Khamenei adviser rumored killed by Israel makes first public appearance at funeral
If at first Israel doesn’t succeed…
[Rudaw] Ali Shamkhani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...>
, was severely injured in Israel’s first wave of strikes. On Saturday he made his first public appearance at a funeral for dozens of people killed in the war with Israel, and he described the moment the room he was in was hit.

Shamkhani said he was asleep in his room when it collapsed under an Israeli strike, leaving him trapped beneath the rubble for three hours. "My whole room collapsed, a lot of debris fell on me," he told state TV. "At first, I thought it was an earthquake."

With limited oxygen, Shamkhani began digging with his foot in an attempt to free himself. "I was taking small, sharp breaths. It wasn’t even a breath," he recalled.

Rescue workers searching for survivors heard him shouting and called out, "He’s here!"

"I wasn’t afraid for a moment. I said I was going to die... I’ve lived my life. Let’s see how long I live," he said.
"We're taking bets"
Shamkhani, a key figure in Iran’s military and political establishment, has held senior roles across both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the regular army.

He served as defense minister from 1997 to 2005 and later as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council from 2013 to 2023, where he oversaw national security and nuclear diplomacy. Known for bridging reformist and conservative camps, Shamkhani has played a lasting role in shaping Iran’s regional and strategic policies.

He was wrongly reported killed in Israel’s first strikes on Iranian military leadership and nuclear sites on June 13.

"They knew why they targeted me, and I know why they targeted me," Shamkhani said.

On June 21 he posted on social media that he had been injured.

In its operation against Iran, Israel targeted the top echelon of Iran’s military, killing many senior commanders including IRGC commander General Hossein Salami, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri, head of IRGC’s main operational command General Gholam Ali Rashid, and head of the IRGC’s aerospace division General Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

"These soldiers, my dear brothers, who were all martyred, were friends, comrades, and fellow soldiers," said Shamkhani. He described them as "the minds and pillars of Iran’s authority" with whom he used to plot strategy.

The commanders were all quickly replaced and Iran

began a retaliation campaign that had been pre-planned as a contingency.

"We predicted that we would be attacked, so what happened next was based on the decisions of the Supreme Leader during these meetings. We knew what to do if this happened and we knew what our capabilities were," Shamkhani said.

His interview was done on the sidelines of a large, state funeral ceremony for around 60 people, including military personnel, scientists, and civilians killed in the war with Israel. The event grew massive crowds.

President Masoud Pezeshkian joined brass hats at the funeral, as did Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba.

The conflict brought an end to indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has ruled out the possibility of resuming the talks, though US President Donald Trump
...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania...
has said he expects they will meet.

Shamkhani said that the US was not negotiating with Iran with the goal of reaching a nuclear deal, but in order to "provoke the internal situation in the country and force them to protest."

Those behind the conflict believed "that with a single action, Iran’s internal situation will be ripe for an uprising," he said, but added that Iranians have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to national illusory sovereignty.

"Now it is our duty to resolve even the smallest disagreement [with the people]," he added.

Man suspected of spying for Iran planted explosives near defense minister’s home – report
[IsraelTimes] Roy Mizrahi reportedly told to kill Weizmann Institute scientist, refused when not paid 50% upfront; Iran said to have prepared several plots to hit top Israelis in event of war

An Israeli arrested in April on suspicion of conducting intelligence-gathering missions on behalf of Iran

was involved in a plot to assassinate Defense Minister Israel Katz, it was revealed on Saturday, marking the latest development in a widening Iranian espionage campaign inside Israel.

The suspect, 24-year-old Roy Mizrahi, placed powerful explosives somewhere near Katz’s home in the town of Kfar Ahim as part of an "Iranian plot to assassinate him," Channel 12 reported.

It said he has been charged with "aiding an enemy at a time of war."

The explosives were intended to detonate when Katz passed close by, Channel 12 reported, alleging that the Iranians were "very close to succeeding."

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
the report did not specify how close to Katz’s home Mizrahi placed the explosives, nor did it state that the explosives were primed to detonate, indicating that Mizrahi’s action was not the final stage in the plot.

The report said, without elaborating, that the plot against Katz was one of several Iranian plans to target senior Israelis that were being put in place by Iran in the event of war.

The report detailed how Mizrahi was recruited via a Telegram channel and then roped in a friend, Almog Atias.

Atias, also 24, was arrested with Mizrahi back in April following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police’s Lahav 433 major crimes unit. Both men are residents of Nesher, near Haifa.

Initially, the two men filmed various locations, including the Shin Bet headquarters and the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv, at the behest of an Iranian agent named Alex, Channel 12 said.

They were then asked to place two spy cameras in Katz’s hometown, Kfar Ahim, in southern-central Israel. They collected the cameras from a home in Holon and went to install them, but were spooked when a security vehicle with flashing lights drove by, and they instead tossed the cameras into some bushes.

Mizrahi was then asked to assassinate a scientist at the Weizmann Institute for a payment of $1 million, but he refused to do so after "Alex" declined to pay him half the sum in advance.

Subsequently, Mizrahi was contacted by a second Iranian agent, named Getz, who tasked him with placing the explosives near Katz’s home.

Mizrahi collected a blue bag with the explosives from a location not specified in the report and transported it to a spot near Katz’s home.

He was reportedly paid in cryptocurrency for doing so.

According to the report, Mizrahi also took a brick of the explosives home with him.

His lawyer told Channel 12 he was a foolish youth who had caused no harm to state security.

Following his arrest earlier this year, Israeli officials said Mizrahi had been in contact with Iranian operatives throughout 2025 and carried out a series of security-related missions — some alongside Atias — fully aware they were acting under Iranian direction.

Superintendent Maor Goren said in Saturday’s report that, time after time throughout the recent 12-day war with Iran, it became clear that the Islamic Theocratic Republic was targeting sites that had been filmed for it by Israeli spies.

City on Friday night, the Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday.

Hakem al-Issa, who served as chief of staff at the "combat and administrative support division" in the Paleostinian terror group’s military wing, was killed in a strike in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, according to the military.

The IDF said Issa was a "central source of knowledge and one of the last senior Hamas operatives who held high-level positions before October 7 and remained in the Gaza Strip."

"In the past, Issa led Hamas’s force build-up efforts in the Gaza Strip, was one of the founders of the military wing’s operations division, served as head of the training division, and was a member of Hamas’s general military council," the IDF said in a statement.

The military added that Issa "played a significant role in planning and executing the murderous massacre on October 7."

During the war, including in recent days, "Issa served as head of combat support, advancing terror plans from the air and sea against Israeli civilians and IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip," the IDF said.

"Alongside advancing these plans, Issa worked to rebuild Hamas’s arrays that were damaged during the war," the statement continued.

Shaken by depth of Israeli penetration, Iran said to launch sweeping internal crackdown - Mossad there since 2010 (!!)
Spy squirrels! Spy herons!!! OMG MOSSAD!!!!!!!!!
[IsraelTimes] Tehran reportedly detains over 1,000 in spy hunt; leaked documents reveal Israel had ‘boots on the ground’ across Iran’s nuclear and military sites since 2010

The Iranian regime has launched a sweeping internal crackdown aimed at rooting out Israeli spies, dissidents and opposition figures, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported Saturday, in light of Mosssd
...sees all, knows all, gets 'em all in the end...
’s deep penetration of its ranks that gave Jerusalem extensive intelligence on the nation’s nuclear program and allowed it to eliminate numerous brass hats during the 12-day offensive against the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

The Journal, citing Amnesty International, said more than 1,000 Iranians have been detained over the past two weeks on allegations of aiding Israel.

There are now daily reports in state media of new arrests and weapons seizures, the report said. In the western city of Hamedan — home to an air base heavily damaged in Israel’s opening strike — authorities announced 24 cases against suspected Israeli operatives accused of "sending information, photos, and videos to the enemy."

The regime’s sweeping response comes amid revelations of a years-long Israeli intelligence-gathering effort that penetrated deep into the heart of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

Mohammad Amin-Nejad, Iran’s ambassador to La Belle France, acknowledged the extent of the penetration in an interview last week with La Belle France 24, saying, "The Israelis organized penetrations, transfers of bombs and explosives, and recruited people from within. It happened right before our eyes. There were vulnerabilities."

A senior adviser to Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mahdi Mohammadi, acknowledged in a leaked audio recording that Iran

had suffered a "massive security and intelligence breach," according to The New York Times.

In a reflection of the regime’s mounting anxiety, internet access, which had been cut nationwide for more than a week, was only restored on Wednesday. Even so, authorities have continued to warn against using messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, citing fears that Israeli intelligence services could exploit them to intercept communications.

The intelligence ministry has urged citizens to report suspicious activity and has released detailed guidance on how to identify potential spies. The Journal said that among the behaviors flagged in the materials are people coming and going at odd hours, wearing masks or donning hats and sunglasses indoors, as well as metallic banging noises inside homes and curtains that remain closed during daylight hours.

The New York Times reported that the Iranian government has fast-tracked trials and executions for alleged spies and is advancing legislation to expand the death penalty
for espionage.

Mohammad Ali Shabani, an analyst cited in the report, suggested the Israeli strikes may have generated a rare "rally-around-the-flag" effect, with some Iranians moved to assist the regime out of fear or nationalistic impulse.

Human rights organizations cited by the paper warned that the crackdown was disproportionately affecting ethnic and religious minorities, opposition figures nand foreigners, with many held without warrants or access to lawyers.

A YEARS-LONG EFFORT
British daily The Times reported that Israel had had "boots on the ground" for years in the lead up to its strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and ballistic missiles program, monitoring and gathering intelligence from several locations as early as 2010. The report cited an intelligence source and leaked intelligence documents shared with Western countries.

According to leaked documents shared with Israel’s Western allies, including the US and Britannia, and seen by The Times, Israel assessed that by the end of 2024 Iran had moved beyond the research stage of weaponizing nuclear materials and had begun experiments to be able to build a bomb "within weeks."

The leaked documents also showed that Iran aimed to dramatically ramp up its ballistic missile capabilities, producing dozens of surface-to-surface missiles each month with a goal of reaching 8,000 in total. Israel believed such an arsenal would allow Iran to cause devastating damage to the Jewish state.

At the time of the war, Tehran was thought to have some 2,500 ballistic missiles. It launched around 500 at Israel, and was prevented from launching more due to Israel’s destruction of around half of its 400 launchers and its repeated strikes on missile caches and command centers.

Based on the intel it had gathered, Israel targeted numerous sites beyond the well-known facilities at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, including labs and sites used to produce materials for nuclear weaponization, The Times said. Many of the sites struck were operated by the SPND, the military organization led by nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, whom Israel allegedly assassinated in 2020.

Israeli intelligence had agents "monitoring multiple locations" in Iran for years as it readied a potential attack, the paper said.

It said intelligence officers had spies map out the layout of the Natanz facility before it was attacked and destroyed, identifying overground and subterranean targets involved in uranium enrichment, electrical infrastructure and R&D.

Reconnaissance infiltrated other sites, including Isfahan, Nur, Mogdeh, the Sanjarian nuclear component facility, the Shariati military base, and the Shahid Meisami hangar — believed to house plastic explosives and advanced materials used in nuclear detonation testing.

The report also said intelligence documents show Israel penetrated the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which was also heavily targeted by the IDF.

Israel launched its surprise operation against Iran on June 13 when it launched a sweeping assault on Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The 12-day conflict came to a close Tuesday when a US-brokered ceasefire took hold.

Israeli forces targeted top military leaders, nuclear scientists, uranium enrichment sites and ballistic missile programs in the country to dismantle the "existential threat" posed by the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Iran responded by launching over 550 ballistic missiles and around 1,000 drones at Israel, killing 28 people and wounding thousands, according to health officials. The missiles hit apartment buildings, a university and a hospital, as well as critical infrastructure sites, causing heavy damage.

#1  If they haven't figured it out by now, what makes them think putting in some extra effort will work? They'll get a bunch of folks who might carry a bit of circumstantial evidence--were you assigned to the personnel office this date two years ago--torture them into accusing others.
And go on from there.
Eventually, they'll get enough people shot to look as if they made their numbers. After which, even more people will be annoyed with them and Mossad will have even more fertile prospects for penetration.

Thousands in Tel Aviv demand PM seal Gaza hostage release deal in 1st demo in 3 weeks
All the usual emoting and illogical, hateful nonsense snipped.
[IsraelTimes] Thousands of Israelis returned to Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square and Begin Road on Saturday night for the first time in three weeks, reigniting weekly demonstrations in support of a hostage deal and protest of the government’s handling of the war.

Liri Albag, one of five IDF soldiers released from Hamas captivity during a brief truce in January-March, delivered an emotional speech before a crowd of some 2,000 people in Hostages Square, calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to follow his “brave decision” on Iran with an equally decisive move to secure a ceasefire and bring back the remaining 50 hostages held in Gaza.

“Over the past two weeks, all the headlines were about Iran. My brothers and sisters were pushed aside,” Albag said, referring to Israel’s recent 12-day war with Tehran, which ended Tuesday in a US-brokered ceasefire. “Fifty souls, 50 worlds — and it’s time to bring them back.”

Albag shared harrowing details of her time in captivity, including being disguised in Palestinian garb and marched through Gaza’s streets before being locked with five other women and girls in an underground cage, two by two meters (yards) in size, and barely high enough to stand.

“We were fed a quarter of a pita, a date, and half a bowl of rice a day,” she said. “Every second there is an eternity. This is the reality of the hostages.”

Elsewhere in Tel Aviv, around 1,500 demonstrators gathered at the Begin Road entrance to IDF Headquarters. An Iranian missile struck there earlier this month, and local businesses that once thrived during the protests, including a nearby bakery and cafe, remained shuttered due to damage from debris.

Saturday’s demonstrations were the first weekend protests in three weeks, with rallies paused due to Israel’s war with Iran and the prohibition on large gatherings amid repeated missile attacks.

‘We won’t stand for this’: Trump doubles down on attack against Israeli prosecutors in Netanyahu’s corruption trial
[IsraelTimes] For the second time within days, US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
lambasts the ongoing criminal trial against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming that it harms efforts to strike deals in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
and with Iran.

While not directly threatening the prosecution, Trump highlights the billions of dollars in US aid to Israel before declaring, "We are not going to stand for this."

"It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu," Trump writes on Truth Social.

"He is a war hero, and a prime minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring great success in getting rid of the dangerous nuclear threat in Iran," Trump continues.

"Importantly, he is right now in the process of negotiating a deal with Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
, which will include getting the hostages back."

"How is it possible that the prime minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a courtroom all day long, over nothing," he adds, downplaying the charges against Netanyahu while calling the corruption trial a "witch hunt."

"In other words, it is insanity doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu."

"The United States of America spends billions of dollar(s) a year, far more than on any other nation, protecting and supporting Israel," he adds

"We are not going to stand for this," Trump says, adding that "this greatly tarnishes our victory.

"Let Bibi go. He’s got a big job to do," Trump adds.

Iran could resume uranium enrichment in ‘matter of months,’ IAEA chief says
There’s able to and there’s permitted, which they should consider carefully
[IsraelTimes] UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi says Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. likely will be able to begin to produce enriched uranium "in a matter of months," despite damage to several nuclear facilities from US and Israeli attacks, CBS News says.
If the bombs were effective, he’s pretty much out of a job, which is unthinkable. Therefore the bombs must not have been effective., amirite?
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the extent of the damage to the nuclear sites is "serious," but that the details are unknown, while US President Donald Trump
...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down...
insists Iran’s nuclear program has been set back "decades."

But Grossi, the director general of the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, says "some is still standing."

"They can have, you know, in a matter of months, I would say, a few cascades of centrifuges spinning and producing enriched uranium, or less than that," Grossi said Friday, according to a transcript of the interview released Saturday.

Another key question is whether Iran was able to relocate some or all of its estimated 408.6-kilo (900-pound) stockpile of highly enriched uranium before the attacks.

The uranium in question is enriched to 60 percent — above levels for civilian usage but below weapons grade. That material, if further refined, would theoretically be sufficient to produce more than nine nuclear bombs.

Grossi admitted to CBS: "We don’t know where this material could be."

"So some could have been destroyed as part of the attack, but some could have been moved. So there has to be, at some point, a clarification," he says in the interview.

For now, Iranian politicians voted to suspend cooperation with the IAEA and Tehran rejected Grossi’s request for a visit to the damaged sites, especially Fordo, the main uranium enrichment facility, which was struck by the US last Sunday.

"We need to be in a position to ascertain, to confirm what is there, and where is it and what happened," Grossi said.

US says it monitored all Iran nuke sites before strike and didn’t see any enriched uranium moved
[IsraelTimes] White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says the US was monitoring all of Iran’s nuclear facilities — not just the main underground one at Fordo — in the days leading up to its strike on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear facilities and did not identify any enriched uranium being moved out of the facilities.

Trump says nothing was taken out of Iran nuclear facility
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump says nothing was moved from an Iranian nuclear facility, echoing his defense secretary who earlier today said he is unaware of any intelligence suggesting Iran had moved its uranium to shield it from US strikes over the weekend.

“The cars and small trucks at the site were those of concrete workers trying to cover up the top of the shafts. Nothing was taken out of facility. Would take too long, too dangerous, and very heavy and hard to move!” Trump, without providing evidence, writes on his social media platform.

No known intelligence that Iran moved uranium, US defense chief says
[IsraelTimes] US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says he is unaware of any intelligence suggesting Iran had moved any of its highly enriched uranium to shield it from US strikes on Iran’s nuclear program over the weekend.

“I’m not aware of any intelligence that I’ve reviewed that says things were not where they were supposed to be, moved or otherwise,” Hegseth says.

Britain
‘Death to the IDF’: Palestine takes center stage at Glastonbury music festival
[IsraelTimes] Irish rap group Kneecap, other performers, lead pro-Palestinian chants and deliver profanity-laden rants about ‘Zionists’ to cheering crowds at the world-renowned event.

NO STRANGERS TO CONTROVERSY
Formed in 2017, Kneecap is known for anarchic energy, satirical lyrics and use of symbolism associated with the Irish republican movement, which seeks to unite Northern Ireland, currently part of the UK, with the Republic of Ireland.

To their fans, they are daring provocateurs who stand up to the establishment; to their detractors, they are dangerous extremists.

The group has faced criticism for lyrics laden with expletives and drug references, and for political statements, especially since videos emerged showing the band shouting “up Hamas, up Hezbollah” and calling for the death of British Conservative lawmakers.

They have since apologized for the latter incident, which sparked outrage as two MPs have been murdered in the UK in the past nine years, and many worry about their safety.

But the group denies the terrorism charge and says the video featuring the Hezbollah flag has been taken out of context.

Asked whether he regretted waving it, and other comments caught on camera, Chara told the Guardian in an interview published Friday: “Why should I regret it? It was a joke — we’re playing characters.”

GLASTONBURY REJECTS CRITICISM
Since Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, was charged, the group has been pulled from a slew of summer gigs, including a Scottish festival appearance and various performances in Germany.

But Glastonbury organizers defied Starmer, who had said it was not “appropriate” for Kneecap to perform at one of the country’s biggest and most famous music festivals.

“People that don’t like the politics of the event can go somewhere else,” Michael Eavis, co-founder of the festival, said in an article published in a free newspaper for festival-goers.

“There have been a lot of really heated topics this year, but we remain a platform for many, many artists from all over the world and, you know, everyone is welcome here,” Emily Eavis, one of the organizers, said.

During their hour-long set, Kneecap thanked both organizers for not bowing to the pressure to cancel their appearance.

Approached by the Daily Mail for comment following Saturday’s performances, Glastonbury Festival said only that it “does not condone hate speech or incitement to violence of any kind from its performers.”

Dozens of Iranian Jews said summoned for questioning on suspicion of having ties to Israel
[IsraelTimes] Iranian woman tells Israeli news outlet that she witnessed the arrest of 10 Jewish neighbors, says women were released but men still in custody

Iranian authorities have summoned at least 35 Jews for questioning about their ties to Israel in the aftermath of the 12-day conflict between the two countries, a human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
organization reported on Saturday, amid unconfirmed reports that several Jewish community leaders had been arrested on suspicion of having ties to Israel.

Iranian authorities have cracked down on anyone they suspect of having ties to Israel in the wake of the war it launched against the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s nuclear program on June 13. Since then, more than 700 people have been arrested, Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Thursday.

According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), at least 35 Jews from Tehran and Shiraz have been called in for questioning since June 23 — the day before the US announced that a ceasefire deal had been reached.

It said that those called in for questioning were primarily interrogated about relatives who live in Israel and were warned not to contact them, or anyone else abroad, for the time being.

An unnamed member of the Iranian Jewish community told HRANA that the number of people from the community who had been summoned for questioning was "unprecedented" and that there were concerns about "the psychological and social well-being" of the community as a result.

Also on Saturday, an Iranian woman told Israel’s Channel 12 news outlet that she had witnessed the arrest of 10 Iranian Jews in recent days.

The woman, identified only as Miriam, told the news outlet that she saw six Jewish women and four Jewish men being arrested at 1:30 am on a recent morning.

Miriam, whom Channel 12 says it has spoken with in the past for reports on life in Iran, said that gunnies "jumped over the wall" into the courtyard of the area where she lives, threatened residents and told them to hand over their phones.

"I had hidden mine under the carpet as soon as I heard their voices," she said.

"They took away 10 people simply because they are Jewish... loading them like sheep into the car," she said.

The six women have since been released on bail, she said.

Miriam’s account appeared to correspond with unconfirmed reports from Friday which claimed that several Jewish community leaders had been arrested on suspicion of having ties to Israel.

The French-Iranian women’s rights group Femme Azadi reported that rabbis and other religious leaders in both Tehran and Shiraz were accused of having a connection to Israel without any evidence.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
Israel’s Ynet news outlet had reported that Iranian authorities arrested multiple members of one family and confiscated their electronic devices.

It said that the women were later released from custody, but the men, one of whom it said is a rabbi, remained in detention.

Rani Amrani, from an Israeli radio station called Ran Radio, said on Saturday that the Iranian Jewish community had recently organized a gathering, attended by its rabbis and by many Iranian Jews who serve in the Iranian army, designed to "avert any suspicion of spying or, heaven forbid, betrayal."

It was unclear if the event she was talking about was the same event publicized by Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency, which on Thursday published photos of the Jewish community in Tehran gathering at the Abrishami Synagogue for an event in support of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...>
and the Iranian military after the war with Israel.

SDF says ‘disinformation campaign’ seeks to undermine the force
[Rudaw] Kurdish-led forces in northeast Syria (Rojava) said on Saturday that there is a targeted "disinformation campaign" to undermine the force by falsely linking them to the terror attack on a Christian church in Damascus.

"A renewed targeted online disinformation campaign falsely claims that an ISIS [Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
] member who contributed to the terrorist attack on the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus had previously received kerosene aid from an American NGO while residing in al-Hawl camp. This narrative is part of a broader effort to attack the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), continuing a pattern of falsifying documents to undermine their legitimacy," the SDF said in a statement on Saturday.

On Sunday, a jacket wallah affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) entered Mar Elias Church in Damascus during mass, opened fire on worshippers and detonated an explosive vest, killing 25 people and injuring 63 others. The attack renewed fears of sectarian violence in Syria as it tries to recover from decades of dictatorship and years of civil war.

Syrian authorities arrested six suspects and killed two others during a raid on an ISIS cell. Interior Ministry spokesperson Noureddine al-Baba said that two of the suspects were not Syrian nationals and had infiltrated the capital from al-Hol camp that houses thousands of ISIS family members in the SDF-held northeast.

The SDF denied the connection, saying that it reviewed camp files and no one fitting the ministry’s description had been released during the timeframe specified. The SDF, which is keeping several thousand ISIS fighters in prisons, further explained that the camp mostly comprises women and kiddies rather than imported muscle of ISIS.

The director of the Middle East Institute’s Syria Program, Charles Lister, then shared on X a document that claimed to show one of the suspects received aid in al-Hol delivered by the humanitarian organization Blumont.

Blumont on Friday said the document is not legitimate. "We are aware of images circulating online reportedly from our team’s work in Syria. The images are not authentic and do not reflect how we track the distribution of humanitarian assistance," it said.

Lister has since deleted the post and on Friday he confirmed that the document was fake but said a senior Syrian government official had confirmed that two of the six members of the ISIS cell were "smuggled out from al-Hol in late-2024."

Smuggling people out of al-Hol is a problem at the sprawling camp. The SDF has reported arresting suspected smugglers. In March they captured a man accused of "smuggling terrorists, particularly foreign ISIS women, out of al-Hol camp.

The accusations against the SDF come at a sensitive time as the Kurdish administration in Rojava is in talks with the interim government about their integration into national institutions. Kurds are looking for guarantees of their political and cultural rights that had been denied under the former regime.

SDF chief Mazloum Abdi and Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a landmark agreement in March over the future of SDF and the Kurdish enclave. Several articles of the agreement have been implemented, including swapping of prisoners, and there are ongoing talks between both sides.

Sheikhmous Ahmed, who supervises Rojava’s camps, told Rudaw English on Friday that the recent deadly festivities between Damascus-affiliated gangs and religious minorities like the Druze and Alawites created the belief that only the SDF can protect the minorities.

He claimed that Damascus is using the attack on the church as a pretext to spread disinformation about the SDF as part of "a smear campaign."

Rojava has been internationally praised for its coexistence and women rights.

Violence broke out in early March in the Alawite-majority coastal areas of western Syria after loyalists of ousted Syrian dictator Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
launched attacks on security forces affiliated with the new Syrian leadership.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) then reported that around 1,500 people, mostly Alawite civilians, have been killed in the violence. The UK-based war monitor added that most casualties were caused by government or government-affiliated forces.

In April, global human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
watchdog Amnesty International censured the "mass killings," accusing Damascus of perpetrating a "war crime" against the minority group and warning of further "atrocities" if accountability is not enforced.

Many members of the Druze community were killed in late April following attacks by groups linked to Damascus. The fighting was initially triggered by an audio recording that was allegedly blasphemous toward the Prophet Muhammad. Initially attributed to a prominent Druze holy man, the recording was later discredited by both the holy man and Syrian authorities.

ICE arrests Iranian sniper with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in North Alabama
[1819News] As federal officials began looking for potential threats to the United States after its actions in bombing Iran this week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday that it had arrested a Locust Fork man with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in a nationwide roundup.

According to DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Ribvar Karimi on Sunday in Blount County's Locust Fork.

Karimi reportedly served as an Iranian Army sniper from 2018 to 2021. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card. He entered the United States on a K-1 visa, which is reserved for aliens who are engaged to be married to American citizens, in October 2024, under the Biden administration. Karimi never adjusted his status as required by law and is removable from the United States. He's currently in ICE custody, where he'll remain pending removal proceedings.

Iraq
Lessons Unlearned from Israel's Bombing of Iraq's Osirak Reactor
[Libertarian Institute] In a New York Times opinion article on June 21, Amos Yadlin, a former chief of Israel’s military intelligence, attempted to defend Israel’s recent decision to start a war with Iran, in which Israel was briefly joined by the U.S. government under the administration of President Donald Trump.

Under the headline "Why Israel Had to Act," Yadlin’s opening sentence states, "Forty-four years ago this June, I sat in the cockpit on the Israeli air force mission that destroyed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear reactor. In one daring operation, we eliminated Saddam Hussein’s nuclear ambitions."

The parallels between that event and the current war on Iran are indeed remarkable—but the real lesson to be learned from it is precisely the opposite of the one Yadlin draws.

In addition to constituting aggression under international law, "the supreme international crime" as defined at Nuremberg, the American and Israeli bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities proves how policymakers in both countries refuse to learn from the lessons of history.

The claim that Israel’s bombing of Iraq’s Osirak reactor in 1981 halted or set back Saddam Hussein’s efforts to acquire a nuclear weapons capability is a popular myth.

In fact, Iraq had been a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) since it came into force in 1970, and its nuclear program was under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which had reported that the program was in compliance with Iraq’s legal obligations under the treaty.
[/sarc]
Israel, by contrast, is known to possess nuclear weapons and "has not adhered to" the NPT, as the United Nations Security Council observed in Resolution 487. Unanimously adopted on June 19, 1981, that resolution strongly condemned Israel’s act of aggression.

After criticism from MAGA world, Amy Coney Barrett delivers for Trump
[NBC] WASHINGTON — As President Donald Trump reveled in a major Supreme Court victory that curbed the ability of judges to block his policies nationwide, he had special praise for one of the justices: Amy Coney Barrett.

"I want to thank Justice Barrett, who wrote the opinion brilliantly," he said at a White House press conference soon after Friday’s ruling.

Barrett’s majority opinion in the 6-3 ruling along ideological lines, which at least temporarily revived Trump’s plan to end automatic birthright citizenship, is a major boost to an administration that has been assailed by courts around the country for its broad and aggressive use of executive power.

It also marks an extraordinary turnaround for Barrett’s reputation among Trump’s most vocal supporters.

Incoming Riots Or Just July 4 Prep? White House, Treasury Lined By Anti-Scale Fence
[ZH] Reporters and breaking news X accounts indicate that anti-scale fencing was erected late Friday night into early Saturday morning around the White House and Treasury Department buildings in Washington, D.C.

While no official statement has been released, prevailing speculation online attributes the move to:

Preemptive security posture ahead of the July 4th holiday.

National March on Washington scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at 1 PM, led by ANSWER Coalition and affiliated anti-war organizations, protesting potential U.S. military escalation with Iran.
Doesn't seem like that did squat
NBC News reporter Ben Popken questioned a U.S. Secret Service agent about the sudden construction of fencing and the apparent elevation in security posture. The agent attributed the move to standard protective measures ahead of the July 4th holiday.

Trump Should Name His Fed Chair Replacement Now, Not Later
[American Liberty] Markets do not wait. Investors, lenders, and entrepreneurs thrive on clarity, not suspense. President Trump understands this better than any recent occupant of the Oval Office. When he senses uncertainty, he instinctively moves to resolve it. He did so with taxes, with regulation, and with foreign policy. The time has come for him to do it again, this time by naming Jerome Powell’s successor as Chairman of the Federal Reserve now, not eleven months from now. This is not a rupture of norms, but an embrace of responsibility. Naming the next Fed Chair is not simply an administrative matter, it is a macroeconomic signal, a moral declaration, and a political necessity.

Consider the context. The US economy is wobbling between resilience and recession. Inflation has cooled but not vanished. Consumers are cautious. Small businesses hesitate to expand. The yield curve remains inverted. And yet the Federal Reserve, under Powell’s sluggish stewardship, refuses to cut interest rates decisively. Their reasoning? Prudence, or perhaps cowardice, cloaked in the language of inflation targeting. But there is a more unsettling possibility, one that few in polite circles dare acknowledge: partisanship. Every single economist at the Federal Reserve is a registered Democrat. Not one has donated a dollar to a Republican candidate in over twenty-five years. That fact, standing alone, ought to give the public pause. Powell told the Senate this week, "If we make a mistake here, people will pay... the cost for a long time." But millions are already paying the price for the Fed’s mistake of raising rates too far, too fast, and keeping them high for too long, even as Europe cuts rates in response to similar economic conditions. The Fed’s refusal to follow suit cannot be attributed solely to monetary caution. It increasingly appears ideological, a quiet campaign of economic resistance against a president they loathe and a movement they fear.

Now enter the central philosophical question. Should the executive branch, led by a duly elected president with a national mandate, exercise some influence over the nation’s monetary trajectory, or should it leave such questions entirely to an unelected elite ensconced in an institution that prides itself on "independence"? That word, like many others in modern technocracy, conceals more than it reveals. Independence, in practice, often means unaccountability. The Federal Reserve is not a Platonic guardian class. It is a government agency, and its decisions, however "data driven," have massive distributive consequences. Rate policy determines who gets a mortgage, who hires, who invests, and who saves.

Historically, presidents have understood this reality and have acted accordingly. Lyndon Johnson infamously browbeat Fed Chair William McChesney Martin at his Texas ranch in 1965 for raising rates during the Vietnam buildup. Richard Nixon hounded Arthur Burns into keeping rates low ahead of the 1972 election. Ronald Reagan, while more tactful, made it abundantly clear what kind of monetary policy he expected from Paul Volcker, and later appointed Alan Greenspan to ensure continuity. These interventions, while criticized in retrospect, were hardly the undermining of constitutional order. They were expressions of democratic accountability.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
VDH - In the End, Everyone Hated the Iranian Theocracy
[Townhall] It is hard even to digest the incredible train of events of the last few days in the Middle East.

Iran had been reduced to an anemic, performance-art missile attack on our base in Qatar -- the last Parthian shot from a terrified regime, desperate for an out -- and a ceasefire.

Iran would have been better off not launching such a ceremonial but ultimately humiliating proof of impotence.

Even worse for the theocracy, Iran's temporary reprieve came from the now magnanimous but still hated U.S. President Donald Trump.

So ends the creepy mystique of the supposedly indomitable terror state of Iran, the bane of the last seven American presidents over half a century.

For Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, it was hard to swallow that U.S. bombers got their permission to fly into Iranian airspace from the Israeli air force.

A good simile is that Trump put a pot of water on the stove, told Iran to jump in, put the lid over them, then smiled, turned up the heat -- and will now let them stew.

As postbellum realities now simmer in Iran, the theocracy is left explaining the inexplicable to its humiliated military and shocked but soon-to-be-furious populace. All the regime's blood-curdling rhetoric, apocalyptic threats against Israel, goose-stepping thugs, and shiny new missiles ended in less than nothing.

A trillion dollars and five decades' worth of missiles and centrifuges are now up in smoke. That money might have otherwise saved Iranians from the impoverishment of the last 50 years.

How about the little Satan Israel, to which Iran for nearly 50 years promised extinction?

Israel had destroyed Iran's expeditionary terrorists, Iran's defenses, its nuclear viability, and the absurd mythology of Iranian military competence. And worse, Israel showed it could repeat all that destruction when and if necessary.

So, the most hated regime in the world crawled into the boiling pot because it looked around in vain for someone to void Trump's ultimatum for a cease and desist.

UK authorities seize cocaine worth more than $130 million from a ship at London port
[FoxNews] Somebody's gonna get whacked
One can only hope.
British authorities discovered 2.4 metric tons hidden under containers at London Gateway port

British authorities seized 2.4 metric tons of cocaine in a ship arriving in England from Panama, authorities said Saturday, calling it one of the U.K.’s biggest drug busts in years.

The drugs, valued at $132 million, were found under containers on a vessel at London Gateway port, east of the British capital. The shipment was discovered after what officials said was an intelligence-led operation.

Britain’s interior ministry, the Home Office, said it was the sixth-largest cocaine seizure on record.

Britain is one of Europe’s biggest markets for cocaine, according to the National Crime Agency. The U.K. government says cocaine-related deaths in England and Wales rose by 31% between 2022 and 2023.

DOGE Cancels Hundreds More Wasteful Contracts
Doing it right: Elon Musk and his team set up a process and a group well able to carry on without them. Bless them all for stepping up.
[PJ] The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) continues to work hard to save Americans money. If only Congress would follow its example.

DOGE remains committed to identifying the heinous number of wasteful contracts and the stunning amounts of fraud across our federal government and its hundreds of unconstitutional agencies. If there’s one thing that has become abundantly clear in the last few months, it is that our federal government is completely out of control, and is using our taxpayer dollars to run the country into financial catastrophe.

Though the Iran-Israel conflict understandably pushed DOGE out of the news, the work goes full steam ahead. DOGE posted on X June 26:

Over the last 7 days, agencies have terminated 312 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $2.8B and savings of $470M, including a DoD $286k professional and management development contract for an "entrepreneurship course at Harvard University", and a $485k USAID contract for a "senior general development advisor at USAID Madagascar."

Fortunately, that’s not all DOGE is doing. It provided an update Friday on the National Weather Service (NWS) modernizing its Weather Radio system, since around 380 of their stations still relied on copper lines from the 1960s. Since the last DOGE update, 33 NWS stations had upgraded to wireless, which DOGE claimed saves $118,000 monthly in copper contracts.

Cancer, blood clots, death: Study exposes risks for males who take estrogen to 'affirm' trans identity
[Daily Signal] Biological males who identify as transgender and take estrogen in order to appear female face myriad health risks, from infertility to diabetes, to testicular and breast cancer, and ultimately to early death, according to a new study.

The study, published in the academic journal Discover Mental Health earlier this month, highlights adverse reactions to estrogen, both health risks that have been widely known and "newly identified adverse outcomes." While activists claim people who identify as transgender may commit suicide if they cannot access these medical interventions, which they call "gender-affirming care," some studies actually suggest that suicidal thoughts increase among those taking these drugs.

"Several recent systematic reviews have found the evidence of benefit to be of low or very low certainty, while some risks, such as infertility, have long been recognized," the authors, led by Lauren Schwartz of Oklahoma City Psychiatry, write.

Super Bowl halftime performer charged for running on field with ‘Sudan and Free Gaza’ flag
[IsraelTimes] A Super Bowl halftime show performer was charged yesterday with two misdemeanors, about 4 1/2 months after he ran across the field at the Superdome waving a flag that included the words “Sudan and Free Gaza,” Louisiana State Police say.

Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, 41, turned himself in to authorities to face charges of resisting a police officer and disturbing the peace by interrupting a lawful assembly, police say. He surrendered in coordination with his attorney and was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Nantambu revealed the flag and ran on the field during rapper Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance on Feb. 9. He was detained on the field after his demonstration but not charged. The NFL said at the time he would be banned for life from league stadiums and events.

According to a statement from police, Nantambu had been hired as an extra performer and “had permission to be on the field during the performance, but did not have permission to demonstrate as he did.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy thanks investigators for their work.

“We take any attempt to disrupt any part of an NFL game, including the halftime show, very seriously and are pleased this individual will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” McCarthy says in a statement.

#1  Man allegedly shot by Antonio Brown also staged a pro-Palestine protest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX show

The man allegedly shot by controversial former NFL star Antonio Brown has been identified as the protester who invaded the field during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show.
Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, 41, of New Orleans, is listed as a victim after Brown was accused of firing off two rounds with a handgun outside a celebrity boxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood in the early hours of May 17.
Nantambu told investigators that one of the rounds grazed his neck, according to the Associated Press.
The 36-year-old former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver is wanted for attempted murder, with authorities calling for a $10,000 bond and house arrest pending trial, according to a Miami-Dade arrest warrant. Brown contests that he was a victim of attempted robbery.
Most recent reports suggest that Brown has now fled the country.

Israel says UN ‘aligning itself’ with Hamas over Gaza aid
[IsraelTimes] Israel accuses the United Nations of aligning itself with Palestinian militant group Hamas after Secretary-General Antonio Guterres denounced an Israeli-backed aid distribution system in war-ravaged Gaza.

The US-and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation had provided “46 million meals” in the territory, the foreign ministry says in a post on X, but “the UN is doing everything it can to oppose this effort. In doing so, the UN is aligning itself with Hamas, which is also trying to sabotage the GHF’s humanitarian operations.”

Fifth Column
Grand jury indicts Yassin Terou, 11 others more than a year after UT protests calling for Gaza ceasefire
[WBIR] The indictments come more than a year after two different protests on UT's campus ended in several arrests.

A Knox County grand jury indicted a prominent Knoxville restaurateur and several others for criminal trespassing more than a year after they participated in peaceful protests on the University of Tennessee's campus.

Yassin Terou, who owns Yassin's Falafel House in Knoxville, and nine others are facing criminal trespassing charges for participating in the "Nakba Day Vigil" on May 15, 2024, at UT's campus.

UT police cuffed Terou and others outside the law school after a group participating in the vigil was warned they were in an unauthorized area and told to leave. Terou said he tried to speak with police and asked if they could quickly use the area to mourn Palestinians killed and communities uprooted during the Nakba.

According to the arrest report, the group had been assigned a space for the event immediately across the street on Cumberland Avenue outside the Student Union Plaza, which had been reserved until 10 p.m. UTPD said the group did not leave the unreserved space outside the law school and were given two warnings to leave before they took them into custody.

Following his arrest, Terou filed a complaint with UTPD about the arrest, claiming officers aggravated existing nerve damage during the arrest, which caused his arm to need a sling. He spent part of the night in the hospital after he was arrested. UTPD said it conducted an internal investigation and found no policy violations were committed.

WBIR 10News reached out to Terou's attorney. The attorney said he was out of town on a humanitarian mission, but said he was "disappointed it is necessary" after she told him about the indictment:

Two others were charged with criminal trespassing for participating in peaceful protests on UT's campus on May 2, 2024, to raise awareness of the ongoing attacks in Gaza and to stand in solidarity with Palestinians. The two were not students at UT and are scheduled to be arraigned in court on July 16.

The following people were indicted, records show:

  • Zanne Soliz – criminal trespassing

  • Yassin Terou – criminal trespassing

  • Layla Soliz – criminal trespassing

  • Stephen Wilhelm – criminal trespassing

  • Rachel Tanon – criminal trespassing

  • Theodoros Kyriakopoulos – criminal trespassing

  • Sophia Ellis – criminal trespassing

  • David M. Murray – criminal trespassing

  • Hezekiah McDonald – criminal trespassing

  • Andreas Bastias – criminal trespassing

  • Jessica McGill – criminal trespassing (from the May 2 protest)

  • Wesley McCool – criminal trespassing (from the May 2 protest)

Seven other UT students were taken into custody and cited during the May 2 protests. UT said the seven were sanctioned for violating university policy over the use of outdoor space.

Academics Who Call For Iranian Attacks on America
[HotAir] What does it say that a professor at Georgetown University--an Episcopalian, no less--is calling for Iran to strike US bases in the Middle East?

At first, it would seem an odd flex until you understand that it is part of the "decolonization" effort that we hear so much about. After all, the very same people who argue that America is evil and must be destroyed are deeply invested in open borders and unlimited immigration into the United States. If the US is so racist and cruel, why would every Mahmoud, Mohammed, and Jose want to come here as "refugees" from countries they purport to love so deeply?
The names:

UChicago professor Alireza Doostdar, whose brother is in prison for spying for Iran

Princeton refuses to punish masked students who hurled slurs at Jews
[CampusReform] Princeton University has yet to punish anti-Israel demonstrators for disrupting an April event at the school’s campus that featured a former Israeli politician.

At the April 7 protest, around 250 protesters called former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett a 'war criminal,' referred to Jewish students as 'inbreds,' and demanded they return to Europe.

Antisemitic law student at U of Florida awarded for paper defending white supremacy
A University of Florida law student who posted that Jews must be “abolished by any means necessary” won an award for a paper in which he argued that the Constitution applies solely to white people.

The honor for an avowed white supremacist and antisemite has roiled the campus at the public university, in a state where a 2023 law prevents state funding for university programs that advocate for “diversity, equity and inclusion or promote or engage in political or social activism.”

Preston Damsky, 29, received the “book award” for a paper he wrote for a class last fall. In the paper, he argued for the removal of voting rights protections for non-white citizens and orders to kill “criminal infiltrators at the border,” according to the New York Times.

The award for the paper was given to Damsky by Federal Judge John L. Badalamenti, a Trump administration appointee who taught Damsky’s class.

The law school’s interim dean, Merritt McAlister, initially defended Damsky’s accolade, invoking “institutional neutrality,” arguing in an email to the law school community that professors must not engage in “viewpoint discrimination” according to the Times.

Britain
Interesting: Iran Was a Main Driver of Scottish Independence Social Media Campaign
[HotAir] The Scottish National Party appears to have had the substantial backing of the Iranian government.

At least it sure seems that way.

How do we know? Dozens of the most prominent pro-SNP X accounts that accounted for about 250,000 pro-Independence posts on X all went silent at once--on the day Israel started bombing the crap out of Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Iran's internet went dark.

It's almost as if Iran were interested in sowing division and social strife in a country to which tens of thousands of Moslem immigrants colonists were streaming.

Dozens of anonymous social media accounts backing Scottish independence abruptly fell silent after Israel’s air strikes caused an internet blackout in Iran, it has been alleged.

The UK Defence Journal (UKDJ) reported that many of the accounts on X had posted hundreds of messages per week backing independence or criticising the UK.

But the posts suddenly stopped at the same time on June 13 after a major Israeli air strike campaign crippled Iran’s cyber infrastructure, causing an internet blackout that affected 95 per cent of national connectivity.

Some of the accounts included a first name and a description in their bios such as "NHS nurse" or "Glasgow socialist", and were accompanied by a photograph of a young, attractive person.

The disclosure comes after US researchers last year identified a network of more than 80 X accounts linked to Iran that had posted more than 250,000 messages since late 2021.

Iran buys 40 Chinese fighter jets
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[ColonelCassad] Iran, after the failures of its air defense system during the war with the US and Israel, promptly buys 40 Chinese 4th generation J-10C fighters at once.
J-10Cs for oil. Next comes the fun of trying to get them delivered. How long does it take to build that many, and will it be the Mullahs who take possession in the end, or their successors?
These aircraft showed excellent performance in combat (in combination with Chinese long-range air-to-air missiles PL-15) during the last Indo-Pakistani war, when they outperformed the French Rafales.

Successes on the battlefield immediately increased interest in the arms trade market for Chinese aircraft.

Iran does not have a very rich choice when it comes to purchasing modern aircraft. Either buy from China or from Russia. But since Russia has reduced arms exports in the interests of the Central Military District, China looks like an obvious option. The same applies to potential purchases of air defense systems and radars.

But since Iran's rearmament will be long-term, in the future Russia may also consider selling the S-400 air defense system to Iran, as well as the Su-35, Su-57 and Su-75 fighters, which it can earn good money on.

Muscovites warned of cold snap and rain next week
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] At the beginning of next week, Moscow will get colder and start to rain. This was warned on June 28 by leading specialist of the Phobos weather center Mikhail Leus.

The weather forecaster said that the weather in the capital will start to deteriorate on Sunday evening, June 29. This will happen due to a cyclone approaching from the northwest.

"On Monday, its center will reach the Upper Volga region, covering the sky above the capital with dense clouds and causing heavy rains. At the same time, it will be windy during the day and only +15…+17 degrees," Leus wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the forecast, the weather on July 1 in Moscow will be one of the coldest on this date since the beginning of the 21st century, the air temperature will be +16…+18 degrees. Summer warmth will return to the capital on July 3.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, reported on June 28 that no sustained warming is expected in Moscow in the coming days. On June 3–4, the temperature will rise to +22…+25 degrees, which corresponds to the climate norm, but then it will drop to +18…+23 degrees. Heavy rain is expected in the metropolis on July 6.

The weather in Central Russia, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, is expected to be mostly cloudy and rainy in July. At the same time, the southern regions may experience the driest summer in decades.

Somali Forces Launch Operations Against Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle Regions
[ShabelleMedia] Somali National Army and allied militia forces have launched coordinated operations in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions targeting al-Shabaab bully boys, military sources confirmed on Saturday.

The security offensive focuses on areas between Ceel Hareeri in Hiiraan and Aadan Yabaal in Middle Shabelle, with particular attention on the Mabaax area, where bully boy activity remains a concern.

Government forces recently regained control of small areas near Aadan Yabaal district and are working to consolidate their hold, aiming to restore state authority in the area.

Simultaneously, operations continue in Middle Shabelle and Lower Shabelle regions as part of broader efforts to weaken al-Shabaab’s presence. The government has reclaimed key localities, including Sabiid and Caanoole, which were long-held by the bully boy group.

Police use force against protesters in Belgrade
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Belgrade police used force against participants in an unauthorized protest in the center of the Serbian capital. The protesters were pushed back from the street adjacent to the building of the republic's parliament.

According to TASS, law enforcement officers used shields and batons to push back students and opposition supporters participating in the protest.

Protesters began throwing firecrackers and bottles at the police and causing clashes. Detentions are reported. This information has not yet been officially confirmed.

A large-scale protest action began in the center of Belgrade on the evening of June 28. On June 25, its participants demanded that the Serbian parliament be dissolved and a date for early elections be set. According to their demands, this had to be done by 21:00 (22:00 Moscow time) on June 28.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, about 36 thousand people took to the streets of Belgrade to participate in the unauthorized protest . This figure was given by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia. The department also noted that approximately the same number of protesters gathered for the action that took place on December 22, 2024.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic did not rule out that protesters in Belgrade on the evening of June 28 could move from slogans to violence . The Serbian leader also stated that the authorities and relevant bodies are ready for this.

On June 25, six suspects in preparation for a coup d'etat were detained in Serbia . A pistol with an erased serial number and seven rounds in the clip was found in the car of one of the detainees. The security forces also seized a box with 25 rounds of ammunition for the pistol.

Political scientist Ozer: The West lost in Ukraine, but is unable to admit defeat
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The West has lost the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on June 28 by Turkish political scientist, leading expert of the expert-analytical network "Ankara - Moscow" Engin Ozer.

He noted that after the Russian-Ukrainian talks held in Istanbul on June 2, the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the dead was almost complete. This is an important sign that these talks are moving forward.

“Everything is moving towards the final stage of peace talks on Ukraine, which will probably take place in Turkey in the very near future,” RIA Novosti quoted Ozer as saying.

He believes that one of the important points of the future agreement on Ukraine will be the lifting by the West of a number of anti-Russian sanctions, in particular the flight bans.

“The lifting of sanctions against some Russian banks involved in agricultural exports, international insurance and Russian ports is in question,” Ozer said.

He noted that the world is entering a period when the confrontation in Ukraine has effectively ended with the defeat of the West.

“But the West is not in a position to announce this,” Ozer concluded.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier stated that the West's long-standing policy of non-recognition of Russia's independence and sovereignty contributed to the start of the special operation in Ukraine. History teaches nothing to Western politicians who are still trying to defeat Russia. On June 27, the head of state stated that Russia's one-sided game with the West was over.

Following the talks in Istanbul, Russia and Ukraine conducted a large-scale prisoner exchange. The parties are currently discussing a possible date for the next round of talks to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is ‘mad as a bag of cats' over SCOTUS ruling says Republican senator: ‘That's a good thing'
[The Grio] In her 22-page dissent, Justice Jackson warned, "The Court’s decision to permit the Executive to violate the Constitution with respect to anyone who has not yet sued is an existential threat to the rule of law."

U.S. Senator John Kennedy, R-La., praised the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling that blocks nationwide injunctions, potentially paving the way for President Donald Trump’s plans to eliminate birthright citizenship and other executive policies.

The 73-year-old lawmaker said he was "proud" of the 6-3 decision from the conservative majority of the court, which limited lower courts to injunctions for any said policy only in a plaintiff’s jurisdiction.

"The Supreme Court has turned the universal injunctions into fish food, as well it should have," Kennedy told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner. "There’s no basis in statute. There’s no basis in Supreme Court precedent. There is no basis in English common law for universal injunctions."

When he is in the majority, the Chief Justice assigns the justice to write the majority opinion. Jackson will not be in the majority in any case where Roberts is not also in the majority. There is no way that Roberts is going to be onboard with an opinion drafted by the DEI hire clerks that penned this hallucination for Jackson. Her opinions will remain all be minority opinions that will be cited by legal scholars as cautionary tales or for comedy.

Iraq
Iraq’s marshlands are drying up
Inshallah — regardless of drought or flood, they take too much groundwater without care for conserving use. Gaza has the same problem.
[Rudaw] Marshlands in southern Iraq are drying up due to worsening drought and declining groundwater levels, a local official warned, as authorities scramble to mitigate the crisis that has already displaced over 10,000 families.

“Most of the marshlands in the north of our province have dried up, and we are trying to revive some of them through the Tigris River, but there is no solution for the other dried marshlands in our province,” said Zeinab al-Asadi, head of the provincial agriculture committee in Dhi Qar.

The Tigris River, one of Iraq’s two major waterways, flows from Turkey through northern and central Iraq and is a vital source of water for agriculture, drinking, and the marshlands.

“The groundwater level in our province has decreased significantly, and groundwater continues to drop further. This is a major problem facing the residents,” Asadi added.

According to Dhi Qar’s meteorology directorate, less than 50 millimeters of rain fell in the province last winter - a decline from over 80 millimeters recorded in previous years.

“This year, there was a drought in our province. The water level in the marshlands has decreased to nearly half a meter, when previously none of them were less than a meter [deep],” Asadi said.

“Certainly, in this season, that remaining half meter will also decrease, because much of it will evaporate,” she said.

The prolonged drought and desertification have already displaced thousands of people. The local office of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement reported that by October, more than 10,000 families had been forced to move out of areas surrounding the marshlands.

“Part of the citizens were displaced due to the drying of marshlands and desertification,” Asadi said.

To address the crisis, Asadi said they are coordinating with the Ministry of Water Resources to dig new artesian wells across the province.

Dhi Qar is home to much of Iraq’s historic marshlands, a UNESCO World Heritage Site considered one of the most fertile and ecologically significant areas in the country. The province’s population is over 2 million, according to Iraq’s census done in November.

Iraq’s water crisis has been exacerbated by five consecutive years of drought, soaring temperatures, and the construction of upstream dams in neighboring Turkey and Iran. These dams have sharply reduced water inflows into Iraq, leaving the country with less than 40 percent of its entitled share from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers - Iraq’s primary water sources.

Iranian citizens have suffered tremendously and lost hope. For example while the Persian carpet industry may flourish it’s under rigid control, but other industry's have been decimated. They’re all friends of America just as much as before 1979 and they were the first ones to be targeted by the regime. Thousands of Americans have been killed for their purpose.

His solution is to lead the country to an organized and stable transition. Citizens will vote by referendum to establish the rules, with separation of religion from state. They will be peaceful with all neighbors and especially America.

Houthis Attack Israeli Facility With Rockets, once again missile knocked out of the sky

The Houthis continue to blithely mistake intent for occurrence. Allah continues to show favour to Israel over those who consider themselves the Master Religion. Other than shipping continuing to avoid the area, I’m not sure anyone notices that they’re the only ones still trying to help their masters in Tehran.
[Regnum] Fighters from the Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) struck a target in the city of Be'er Sheva in southern Israel with a missile, despite a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Tehran. This was reported on June 28 by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria.

"We carried out a high-quality operation against a sensitive enemy target in Beersheba using a Zulfikar missile, successfully achieving our goal," he wrote on Telegram.

Saria added that the Houthis will continue operations to support the Palestinian people until the Israeli army stops fighting in the Gaza Strip and lifts the blockade on it.

California Energy Commission calls for shelving plans to fine oil companies
[SDUT] OOPS! Realizing they've f*&ked themselves along with CA voters and gas consumers? Yes
A 24-page letter offers recommendations to Gov. Newsom. The commission also says refinery closures will add 15-30 cents to gas prices if changes are not made.

In the wake of plans by two refineries to close down, the California Energy Commission offered a series of recommendations Friday to Gov. Gavin Newsom, aiming to help maintain a steady supply stream of gasoline to Golden State motorists.

Among the items in the 24-page letter to Newsom, the energy commission backed off plans to slap potential financial penalties on oil companies if the state deemed they made excess profits at the pump.

In addition, in a media briefing, energy commission Vice Chair Siva Gunda estimated that if no action is taken, the two anticipated refinery closures would add 15 to 30 cents per gallon in the near term.

In April, Valero, one of the country’s major transportation fuels producers, gave notice of intent to shut down operations at its refinery in the Northern California city of Benicia in 2026.

The CEO of the San Antonio-based company said, "California has been pursuing policies to move away from fossil fuels for the past 20 years, and the consequence of that is the regulatory and enforcement environment is the most stringent and difficult of anywhere else in North America."

The Valero announcement came just a few months after Phillips 66 announced it will shut down its twin Southern California refinery facilities in Carson and Wilmington by the end of this year.

The Valero and Phillips 66 facilities combine to account for roughly 20% of the state’s crude oil capacity, leading fuel analysts to raise concerns that the closures will strain supplies of the specially blended gasoline that is sold to California drivers.

In response, Newsom directed the energy commission, along with other state agencies such as the California Air Resources Board, to "redouble the state’s efforts to work closely with refiners" to help ensure Californians have access to transportation fuels such as gasoline in the short and long term.

California is in a tricky spot.

The state has moved aggressively to meet decarbonization goals — including a mandate issued via executive order by Newsom in 2020 to ban the sale of new gasoline-powered cars, SUVs and light trucks by 2035 — while simultaneously making sure there is enough supply of gas to meet demand.

In his letter to Newsom, Gunda described the current state as a "mid-transition" phase as the state tries to shift to massing adoption to electric vehicles.

"Keeping in-state and imported fuel competitive will be an important balancing act moving forward," Gunda wrote, "because if the cost of refining fuel in state exceeds the cost of importing fuel, it could further accelerate additional petroleum refinery exits."

Fuel imports are important because, as Friday’s letter mentioned, California imports more than 75% of its crude oil to meet the demand from in-state refineries and about 10% to 20% of its gasoline from foreign and out-of-state sources.

"Gasoline imports statewide could increase to 25-30% of demand by the summer of 2026, and up to 50% in the northern California region" after the Valero and Phillips 66 closures, the letter said, "bringing risk of supply disruptions and price volatility."

To help boost import of refined products, the energy commission letter in part called for streamlining regulatory and permitting issues that could help support "confidence for the private sector" to make investments.

As for stabilizing oil production within the state, the letter suggested the Legislature make zoning changes in Kern County — the heart of California’s Oil Patch — to "allow for a more appropriate amount of extraction."

Finally, the commission’s letter to Newsom said near- and medium-term actions should take a more "holistic transition strategy" for developing policies to transition California’s transportation system away from petroleum-based fuels.

"The problems laid out in this letter are complex but solvable," Gunda wrote.

As for the petroleum industry’s response, a spokesperson for the Western States Petroleum Association trade group said in an email to the Union-Tribune, "we are still reviewing what is in the letter."

Consumer Watchdog, a Los Angeles-based consumer advocacy group and longtime critic of the petroleum industry, labeled the California Energy Commission’s letter an "oil refiner bailout."

"California’s oil refining and distribution sector are charging Californians more than double what they take in elsewhere," the group said in a news release supported by 51 public and environmental organizations.

The groups also criticized the pause on potential financial penalties.

At Newsom’s urging, in 2023 the California Legislature in a special session passed Senate Bill X1-2, which created the Division of Petroleum Market Oversight to monitor California’s oil and gasoline companies.

Among its provisions, the legislation also gave the energy commission authority to penalize oil companies if they exceed a "maximum gross refining margin." The penalty, which would have been the first of its kind in the nation, has yet to be implemented.

Asked about the recommendation to suspend the penalty, Gunda told reporters, "It’s important to provide the necessary certainty and regulatory conditions to allow for the private investments to come in."

He added that a separate bill that passed in another special session "really gave us tools that actually increase the supply and solve this through the marketplace."

Gunda is referring to another gasoline-related bill called Assembly Bill X2-1 that Newsom signed into law last year. It requires California refineries to maintain minimum amounts of gasoline inventories in the hopes of preventing price spikes.

California has 13 refineries operating in the state but five of them are very small. Eight major refineries account for about 96% of crude oil capacity in the state — and that figure includes the Valero refinery in Benicia and the Phillips 66 facilities in Carson and Wilmington.

Gas prices have been a long-standing complaint for California motorists.

According to AAA, the average price in the Golden State stood at $4.61 for a gallon of regular on Friday — $1.40 higher than the national average. The price in San Diego on Friday came to $4.646.

#4  We seem to be under capacity for refineries nationwide; 30 cents seems low to me. Also I thought that California requires a bunch of special mix formulations. Why would they expect to be able to farm that out? Switching over other refineries to make batches of California brew is going to impact capacity and cost for other states unless they drop all the special requirements. I don’t see them doing that.

1,000 Barrels of Nuclear Waste Found at the Bottom of the Atlantic Ocean
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Scientists have found more than 1,000 barrels of nuclear waste on the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. This was reported by the ZDF publication, citing the press service of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

In mid-June, an international research team set off from the western French city of Brest on the ship L'Atalante to the western European part of the Atlantic. The scientists hope to find all the barrels within a month and assess the impact of their contents on the local ecosystem.

According to researchers, a number of countries have been dumping nuclear waste into the ocean for 30 years since the 1950s. The ocean depths, far from the coast and human activity, have proven to be a cheap and easy solution for disposing of what has accumulated in industrial developments and laboratories, the authors of the material note.

In the north-eastern Atlantic alone, at depths of 3,000 to 5,000 meters, there are at least 200,000 barrels (30 cubic meters) of waste.

The team of scientists wants to create a map that will mark all the waste locations. They will take water, soil and fauna samples at each point. The researchers will be assisted by the Ulyx diving robot, equipped with a 3D camera and sonar.

It is not yet clear what danger this nuclear waste poses. Patrick Chardon, the head of the project monitoring radioactive waste disposal sites in the ocean, estimates that the radiation will disappear in about 300 to 400 years. The barrels are designed to withstand the pressure of the depths, but not to stop the radioactivity. Therefore, the researcher suspects that radioactive substances could have leaked into the water.

"Our goal is to use the radioactive waste that was produced to better understand the depths of the ocean," said project co-leader and CNRS researcher Javier Escartin.

In the years when the waste was dumped, it was considered safe, 20minutes.fr reported, citing a report by the National Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (Andra). Studies conducted in the 1980s and 1990s found low levels of radiation, and it was decided that there was no need for permanent monitoring of the waste.

"When we did the research in the 1980s, we were taking samples blind, we didn't have an underwater device to search for barrels," Escartin said.

The North-East Atlantic is not the only area affected by radioactive waste dumping, the publication reported. Before the process was completely banned in 1993, 14 countries were involved in dumping waste into the ocean, notably the United Kingdom, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland, as well as the United States and the Soviet Union. This involved more than 80 sites in the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.

Trump denies US plans to give Iran $30 billion for peaceful nuclear energy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Information spread in the media about Washington's alleged plans to help Tehran receive about $30 billion in investments for the development of a peaceful nuclear program was denied by US President Donald Trump on his social network Truth Social.
Good to see the word spreading so quickly around the world.
"Who in the Fake News Media is saying that 'President Trump wants to give Iran $30 billion to build non-military nuclear facilities'? Never heard of that ridiculous idea. This is just another FRAUD made up by the Fake News Media to humiliate [me]. These people are SICK!!!" the American leader wrote.

CNN notes that such information is being actively discussed by key players in the Middle East. One of the proposals involves investments of $20-30 billion in the Iranian nuclear program, with the funds coming from Arab countries.

The issue was raised at a secret meeting between US Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff and representatives of the Persian Gulf countries. In addition, the possibility of easing sanctions on Iran and the idea of replacing the Fordow nuclear facility with a program that excludes uranium enrichment were discussed.

Earlier, Regnum News Agency reported that, as US President Trump stated, the United States will again use military force against Iran if it becomes aware of a dangerous level of uranium enrichment.

On the night of June 22, the US Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes on Iranian territory. Trump said the attacks were carried out on sites allegedly related to the nuclear program.

IDF says Lebanon drone strike killed intel commander in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force
[IsraelTimes] Another Hezbollah commander was killed in an Israeli dronezap in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel...
earlier today, the IDF says.

According to the military, the strike in Mahrouna killed Abbas al-Hassan Wahbi, chief of intelligence in a battalion of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.

Wahbi was involved in efforts to restore Hezbollah’s capabilities as well as transfer weapons, the IDF says.

His actions "constitute a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the military adds.

Hamas leader Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa killed in airstrike, IDF says
[NYPOST] Israel's military ''eliminated'' a founding Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
military leader and criminal mastermind behind the Oct. 7 attack, Tel Aviv officials said Saturday.

Hakham Muhammad Issa al-Issa
was killed during a targeted Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on the Sabra neighborhood of Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
City, Israel Defense Forces said.

Al-Issa was one of the final remaining founding members of the terrorist organization's military wing and played a crucial role in the Oct. 7 attack that launched the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

''Issa led Hamas' force build-up, training, and planned the October 7 massacre. As Head of Combat Support, he advanced aerial & naval attacks against Israelis,'' said an IDF post on X.

''The IDF & [Israel Security Agency] will continue to locate and eliminate all snuffies involved in the October 7 massacre.''

Al-Issa was a ''key source of knowledge'' for Hamas and held a litany of high-ranking positions within the group prior to Oct. 7, including as the Head of the Training Headquarters.

He was pivotal to rebuilding Hamas' organizational systems that were damaged over the last several months.

Issa was also a co-founder of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades' military academy, where he trained thousands of snuffies and influenced the structure of the military wing, the Jerusalem Post reported.

He arrived in Gaza in 2005 from Syria, and was reportedly with his wife and grandson during the strike.

Issa’s death comes just days after the IDF claimed to have killed the leader of a brutal Palestinian jihadist group responsible for the kidnappings and cold-blooded murders of Hamas hostages captured on Oct. 7.

Asaad Abu Sharia
, head of the Mujahideen Brigades, was taken out in a joint operation in Gaza City on Saturday by the Israeli Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency.

Also, last month, the IDF killed Hamas chief Mohammad Sinwar during an airstrike on a Gaza hospital.

Sinwar was hiding in tunnels beneath the building — and dramatic footage captured the moment IDF soldiers ripped his body from the rubble.

China-Japan-Koreas
Is Chinese President Xi Jinping on his way out?
[NY Post] Over the past few months, unprecedented developments point to the potential, and potentially imminent, fall of China’s "Chairman of Everything" Xi Jinping. Chinese Communist Party elders — including Hu Jintao, Xi’s immediate predecessor, whom Xi humiliated at the 20th Party Congress in 2022 — are now running things behind the scenes.

Xi is in poor health and likely to retire at the CCP Plenary Session this August or take a purely ceremonial position.

Xi’s downfall has been rumored before. But never have we seen the recent purges (and mysterious deaths) of dozens of People’s Liberation Army generals loyal to Xi; all replaced by non-Xi loyalists.

Zhang Youxia, with whom Xi had a major falling out after helping Xi secure an unprecedented third five-year term, is now the de facto leader of the PLA.

Also, the "un-naming" of Xi’s father’s mausoleum last month was unprecedented. The mausoleum, which Xi has built to honor his late father, was larger than the mausoleums of either Mao’s or Deng’s.

Meanwhile, Xi’s personal protective detail has recently been halved. What world leader cuts his own security?

There was no explanation for Xi’s disappearance for almost two weeks in late May and early June while foreign dignitaries were hosted in Beijing by other CCP Leaders. Xi has also been conspicuously missing from the pages of the People’s Daily, the CCP organ that until recently ran fawning front-page stories on Xi daily.

Xi reappeared to host Belarus dictator/Russian puppet Alexander Lukashenko in early June. Xi looked tired, uninterested — even defeated.

The meeting location was a low-key family-style area of the CCP leaders’ compound (Zhongnanhai) in Beijing that had never before hosted a state visit. Stripped of the pomp and circumstance that used to accompany every Xi gathering, the entire entourage was a mere handful. None of Xi’s translators or senior aides were present.

Compare that to the state visits recently hosted by other CCP leaders; large, extravagant affairs in prestigious CCP conference halls. And following his recent call with President Trump, Chinese state media, including state TV, referred to Xi without any formal title at all. This has never happened before.

While this was later partially corrected, it is inconceivable that such a glaring oversight was an accident. Recently, professors at some of China’s most prestigious universities have published articles directly criticizing Xi, which was unthinkable previously.

These are just a few of many unusual signs from Beijing that signal major changes in the CCP power structure. Although not yet certain, it appears that Zhang Youxia and CCP elders have chosen Wang Yang, whom Deng Xiaoping lifted out of obscurity and who served as a successful technocrat until his forced retirement in 2023, to be the next CCP chairman.

He is known as a soft-spoken reformer who supports more free-market policies, more decentralized decision making, and a much less confrontational foreign policy.
Now is not a good time to be confrontational with Donald Trump in the White House, as Iran and its allies have learnt to their sorrow.
To paraphrase Churchill, China is a riddle wrapped in an enigma surrounded by a mystery. So no one can know anything with absolute certainty. But given the disastrous results of Xi’s one-man rule, his ouster would be no surprise.

With over $50 trillion in total debt (national, local and private sector debt is larger than the combined economies of the US and EU),
…to be fair, the debt is the result of stupid CCP ideas since the Clinton era….
well over 50 million unused (and mostly unusable) apartments due to government policy failures (enough for all of Germany), wealthy Chinese emigrating en masse with their assets and an unemployment rate in depression territory... it is not surprising that local riots, factory arsons and anti-government protests have flared all over China.

CCP elders understand China needs a new pragmatic leader to have any chance of escaping the disaster now unfolding.

Such a change will have huge positive implications for the US and our democratic allies if handled correctly. Trump can win the Cold War with China without firing a shot. But Russia, North Korea, and Iran could be devastated by this momentous change.

In fact, Iran’s rapid defeat by Israel and the US has underscored the weakness of Xi’s foreign policy. One CCP elder recently lamented China’s complete isolation on the world stage under Xi, except for a handful of countries that are "good for nothing."

Vladimir Putin, take note: You lost Syria last year, you are on the brink of losing Iran, and you may soon lose China. Excellent news for all democracies, and especially for Israel, America, and the brave people of Ukraine.

Xi Jinping once again proved the adage that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." May his replacement learn from the success of the global West (including Asia’s most successful countries) and lead his nation onto the oftentimes messy but ultimately rewarding path of free markets, free people, real democracy, and the rule of law.

Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong (before the CCP takeover), and the tens of millions of successful Chinese people outside China make it clear that this is the best, and indeed the only sustainable path forward for China.

Caribbean-Latin America
Argentina: Judge OKs Putting Former Iranian Officials on Trial for Terrorism
[Breitbart] A judge in Argentina ruled on Thursday that the country could place ten Iranian and Lebanese citizens — including the recently appointed head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) — on trial in absentia for their suspected roles in the 1994 bombing of the Argentine-Israeli Mutual Association (AMIA).
Known locally as the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina, a very fancy name for the Buenos Aires Jewish community center, the Jewish version of the YMCA.
The AMIA bombing killed 85 people and left hundreds injured; it was the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the Western Hemisphere at the time and retained the title until September 11, 2001. The individuals approved for an in-absentia trial on Thursday are Iranian current and former officials and suspected members of the Iranian proxy terrorist organization Hezbollah — all Iranian and Lebanese citizens.

Argentine authorities identified these individuals decades ago — and some others who have since died — as the masterminds and executers of the attack as well as the 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, which killed another 29 people. Iran has adamantly rejected any evidence linking it to the attack, condemned Argentine officials for seeking justice in the case, and have been otherwise uncooperative with the investigation. The significant evidence against the individuals in question led Interpol to issue red notices, requests for arrest, in 2006 for several senior Iranian officials.

Argentina has traditionally not permitted in-absentia trials. Under current President Javier Milei — who recently declared Iran an “enemy of Argentina” following a visit to Israel — the Argentine Senate passed a law in February that legalized in-absentia trials. The AMIA case is the first and most high-profile attempt to implement the law since it passed.

Judge Daniel Rafecas approved such trials for ten fugitives. The most prominent name on the list is the commander of the IRGC, General Ahmad Vahidi, who received the title this month after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated his predecessor, Major General Hossein Salami, in an airstrike on June 13. Israeli launched a military operation that day to contain Iran’s threats of attack after the United Nations declared Iran in breach of international legal obligations regarding nuclear non-proliferation. The IRGC is a win of the Iranian armed forces and a U.S.-designated terrorist organization.

Others approved for in-absentia trials include two current members of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, a top government body, Ali Akbar Velayati and Mohsen Rezai. Rezai is also a senior IRGC officer. Rafecas approved trials for cleric Mohsen Rabbani, Iranian official Ali Fallahijan, and several Lebanese accused Hezbollah members.

The individuals in question have never presented themselves before the Argentine legal system despite being wanted for decades. The attorneys tasked with their defense at the court argued that in-absentia trials were unconstitutional in the country, but failed. Judge Rafecas did assert, however, that in-absentia trials should be limited to special cases in which no other viable option exists and the absence of such a legal process would actively deprive the victims of a grievous crime of justice.

“Especially in grave international crimes (genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity), the accused are military or political leaders with resources to hide or flee countries without extradition,” the judge wrote in his ruling, according to the Argentine newspaper Clarín. Without such a trial, the individuals “may remain indefinitely fugitives and the cases could remain paralyzed… and depriving victims of justice.”

Rafecas also warned that, “in situations of war crimes or terrorism, not judging the accused could weaken the [public] trust in the justice system.”

Argentina’s road to justice for the AMIA victims has been a long and dangerous one, impeded for years by leftist governments seeking to improve diplomatic ties with the Iranian regime. While years of research led to the Interpol red notices in 2006, no significant action to enforce those notices was taken for nearly a decade. In a breakthrough for the case, the prosecutor tasked with it, Alberto Nisman, had prepared an extensive case to present before Congress in 2015 accusing then-President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of conspiring with Tehran to protect the accused perpetrators of the bombing in exchange for favorable trade deals.

The day before Nisman was to present his case before Congress — on January 15, 2015 — he was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in his apartment. A draft arrest warrant for Fernández was found in his trash bin. His death was ruled a suicide.

Former President Mauricio Macri, who succeeded Fernández de Kirchner, rescinded her memorandum of understanding with Iran, but the case did not move forward in any other major way during his term. Fernández de Kirchner returned to power as vice president under former President Alberto Fernández (no relation) in 2019; only following the election of current President Javier Milei, who took office in 2023, did legal processes in the AMIA case accelerate.

In addition to the in-absentia trial law, the Milei administration expedited a case in the country’s Federal Criminal Cassation Court against the Iranian government and Hezbollah as organizations, finding them both responsible in April 2024 for the AMIA attack 30 years prior.

In April, prosecutor Sebastián Basso, who succeeded Alberto Nisman, requested an arrest warrant for Iranian “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Wikipedia on the attack:
On 18 July 1994, a suicide bomber drove a Renault Trafic van bomb loaded with about 275 kilograms (600 lb) of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and fuel oil explosive mixture,[21][22] into the Jewish Community Center building located in a densely constructed commercial area of Buenos Aires. The explosive is thought to have been arranged to focus the blast on the building 3 to 5 metres (10 to 16 ft) away, exhibiting a shaped charge or explosively formed penetrator effect.[citation needed] The exterior walls of this five-story building were of brick masonry construction, which supported the floor slabs. The air blast from the bomb totally destroyed the exposed load-bearing walls which, in turn, led to progressive failure of the floor slabs and virtually total collapse of the building

Government Corruption
Ex-Hochul and Cuomo Aide Arrested As Chinese Agent, Kash Patel Calls for Full DOJ Investigation
Not new, more info
[Townhall] A former Hochul and Cuomo aide is facing serious new allegations after being accused of secretly working as a Chinese foreign agent and embroiled in fresh bribery charges. The accusations underscore a growing concern among the Trump administration that loyalty to America isn’t a given in today’s world of political insiders. FBI Director Kash Patel vows to hold accountable those who endanger lives through corruption.

Linda Sun
…former deputy chief of staff to New York Governor Kathy Hochul…
and her husband, Chris Hu, allegedly profited nearly $8 million through wide-scale fraud after she facilitated multiple contracts between New York state and two Chinese-based vendors for pandemic equipment. Sun was initially tied to a COVID-era kickback scheme worth millions. She allegedly doctored documents that showed the two companies were recommended by Chinese officials.

Meanwhile, Hu has been accused of keeping track of the expected ill-gotten proceeds on a spreadsheet under the title "Me."

"While Americans were locked down and desperate for PPE, Linda Sun and Chris Hu cashed in - allegedly lining their pockets while serving CCP interests," Patel wrote on X. "This is corruption that endangered lives. The FBI will not tolerate public officials who sell out their country."

At the start of the pandemic, Sun was involved in helping secure personal protective equipment (PPE) for New York. Utilizing her position and connections within the Chinese government, she secured critical supplies. However, according to prosecutors, she manipulated a key vendor list sent by the Jiangsu Department of Commerce on March 20, removing the top recommended supplier and replacing it with a company owned by her cousin. Sun also doctored the wording that claimed her cousin’s company’s surgical masks were "the gold standard."

Between 2020 and 2021, Sun’s cousin’s company allegedly paid out $2.3 million in kickbacks. Prosecutors say a spreadsheet maintained by Sun’s husband projected that the couple stood to make a total of $8.02 million from the two companies involved and the broader scheme.

Sun was arrested in September for allegedly acting as an unregistered agent of China, secretly promoting Beijing’s interests in return for millions in bribes. Her husband was separately charged with laundering that money by setting up bank accounts under a relative’s name. Now, both face additional charges, including honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and bribery.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
About Russian GRU Colonel Igor Bezler
A little "inside baseball" stuff from the Russian/separatist side in 2014: Text taken from a thread in the X account of Desiderius | Casus Belli 🔱.
Bezler is a far more interesting character than Girkin. GRU agent living in Horlivka for a decade waiting for shit to hit the fan, becomes respected in the mafia community, captures a police station by walking in and appointing some SHADY dude the new chief,
Girkin refers to Igor Girkin, AKA Igor Strelok, the reenacting reserve FSB colonel, who claimed at the time he had an active role in the takeover in Crimea and Donetsk.
He has served time for his remarks on the Russian army.

Had the rare reputation of being kind to POWs even though he mock executed three captives on camera, making it look real, then couple of days later said they're fine lol wanna exchange the boys👉👈.

Also kidnapped and killed political opponents and journos

Despises Girkin so much you can't call it a beef, he just sees him as gay crying dumbass. When Girkin fled Sloviansk, Bezler hosted him in Gorlovka and as sign of hospitality let Girkin use the sauna to unwind, then called Moscow laughing that Girkin fled Sloviansk to his sauna.

One of Girkin's officers overhears this and takes out a grenade, but Bezler's new bride stunlocks him with an AK. Then Girkin walks in, refreshed and ready, wearing new camo fatigues that Bezler gifted him. They are actually his wife's.

Sends a squad to Donetsk to attack the central police station (he had a beef with one of the guys there). His squad captures the building and then gets besieged by Vostok, Oplot and other Donetsk-based groups.

They hold them all off, because Bezler had cultivated the least idiotic and the only competent Russian militia. Hearing of their plight, Bezler sends reinforcements and heavy artillery. No half measures kind of guy.

Vostok commander and essentially reluctant ruler of Donetsk Khodakovsky calls him and tells him to chill the fuck out, they'll give him the dude, call it all off. Bezler calls it off. By that time Russian and Ukrainian media alike are full of headlines about civil war in DPR

Nothing happens to him because everyone realize he's actually insane and become scared of him. Khodakovsky says he wanted to make Horlivka a city-state. Plays a role in MH17 shootdown, in that the BUK had to travel through his turf. Apparently becomes somewhat of a sex pest.

Realizes the state of things (Girkin & co fucked it all up, Moscow will now take over). Peaces out instead of sticking around and getting blown up in an elevator. Is old as fuck now but instead of going to SVO shitshow he jumps with parachutes and a cane, chills on yachts.

Several days after he takes over Horlivka, Zelenskyi does a show there. In 2020 Bezler said he regrets not "feeding him lead instead of patties"

Northrop Grumman are developing new large solid rocket motors for the SLS, because if they don't SLS could run out of the old shuttle parts they're using. This is part of a program called 'BOLE' Booster Obsolescence and Life Extension - rather than simply building new boosters they're removing all the bits that were needed for the Shuttle but no longer make sense for SLS. They're using a new casing, new fuel and new support systems.
But their first test did not go as planned.

Israel surprised, skeptical of Trump's Gaza ceasefire optimism
[Ynet] Senior Israeli officials involved in hostage deal and Gaza ceasefire talks said Saturday they see no basis for U.S. President Donald Trump's optimism on the issue.

Trump declared Friday at the White House that a Gaza ceasefire might be achieved as soon as next week. His statement surprised Jerusalem policymakers, who received no prior update suggesting that such a development justifies this forecast.
He does talk a lot.
He makes a point of being positive, it seems to me, until the point is reached when he goes strongly negative — that’s how things went with Iran, too.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria expects to elect new parliament in August: Official
[Rudaw] A committee tasked with electing Syria’s new parliament expects the vote will take place in August, a Kurdish member of the committee told Rudaw on Friday.

"We are now at the stage of visiting Syrian provinces where we are holding meetings with activists, sociologists, politicians, and academics from each province as public gatherings. This is to draft the temporary system for electing People's Assembly members as our program continues. We hope these elections will take place at the end of August," said Mohammed Wali.

Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa established an 11-member Higher Committee for the Elections of the People's Assembly on June 2 and instructed it to form provincial committees that will be responsible for electing suitable representatives for the assembly.

The vote will not be open to the public. Wali said 70 percent of the members of the assembly will be experts and intellectuals while the rest will be notables and dignitaries. One third of the members will be directly chosen by Sharaa.

It remains unclear whether the elections will be held in the Kurdish-held northeast (Rojava). Wali said this is linked to political developments. The Rojava administration is in talks with Damascus about integrating into national institutions.

DHS Raids Los Angeles Home Tied to Iranian Smuggling Ring; Terror Watchlist Suspects Arrested
[Townhall] The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) raided a home in Los Angeles this week as part of a sweeping investigation into an Iranian human trafficking ring. The raid, which targeted a suspected safe house tied to a network smuggling Iranian nationals into the U.S., comes amid the ongoing conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Federal agents arrested nine individuals at a San Fernando Valley home in Los Angeles who are reportedly connected to a human smuggling hub tied to national security threats. Seven of them are Iranian nationals who were on the FBI Terror Watchlist and "associates of an Iranian human trafficking network," according to Customs and Border Protection.

“The location has been repeatedly used to harbor illegal entrants linked to terrorism,” CBP wrote on X. “CBP is taking aggressive action to shut down smuggling networks and remove national security threats before they can do harm.”

Border Patrol agents were serving a warrant at the home connected to an investigation into a human smuggling hub when they discovered the Iranian nationals. CBP Assistant Commissioner Hilton Beckham stated that the site in question has repeatedly been used to shelter illegal entrants, including foreign nationals tied to terrorism and listed on the FBI's Terrorist Watchlist. He added that intelligence shows the smuggling network has trafficked individuals from hostile nations like Iran, creating a direct threat to U.S. national security.

Neighbors told CBS News that a new resident moved into the home roughly six months ago, and they were shocked to learn that individuals on a terror watchlist had been living nearby without their knowledge.

The Trump administration has intensified its deportation push against Iranian nationals following President Donald Trump’s strike on Iran’s top three nuclear facilities. In the aftermath, federal agents arrested 130 Iranians across the country, including individuals flagged as terror suspects or listed on watchlists. Additionally, authorities picked up 11 Iranian nationals and one American citizen in coordinated raids across nine cities, citing growing concerns over potential sleeper cells operating within the U.S.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
The US did not even try to destroy the nuclear facility in Isfahan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[ColonelCassad] Despite Trump's calls to "Fire Natasha!" CNN continues to pile on that Trump's strikes on Iran were futile.
CNN has biased idiots on staff. There are rumbles that they’re getting nervous over there that CNN can no longer afford to keep most of them.
CNN: The US did not drop a bomb on the facility in Isfahan, it is too deep.

The US Air Force did not drop a bunker buster bomb on the nuclear facility in Isfahan, Iran, because it is located deep enough underground.

This was reported by CNN, citing comments from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, US Air Force Lieutenant General Dan Kane.

In fact, the strikes on the nuclear facility in Isfahan were first carried out by Israel, and then the US attacked the facility with Tomahawk cruise missiles. The main damage was inflicted on the buildings on the surface.

The underground complex itself was not actually damaged, since Israel had nothing to destroy it with (except nuclear weapons, and even that is not a fact), and the US did not even try to destroy the underground facility in Isfahan.

So the underground part of the complex has not gone anywhere and can be reactivated after repair work on the surface. At the same time, the IAEA will now not be allowed into the facilities to objectively monitor what is happening. It's about the same with Fordow.

Only the facility in Natanz, which is not located so deep, could potentially have suffered more serious damage from one of the bunker buster bombs.

P.S. Regarding Iran's strike on the US, the published satellite images of the Al Udeid base so far show one hit on the presumably radar system on the base's territory.

Equipment key to producing a nuclear bomb was destroyed in strikes on Isfahan — NYT

[IsraelTimes] Israeli and American airstrikes at Iran’s Isfahan nuclear site destroyed equipment key to the production of nuclear weapons, according to The New York Times.

The report says the equipment is used for a process known as metallization that converts enriched uranium gas into metal, one of the final steps to producing the explosive core inside a nuclear bomb.

Analysts cited by the US newspaper say that Tehran intensified its nuclear activities at Isfahan after US President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018, adding that the strikes on the metallization gear have denied the Islamic Republic the ability to assemble an atomic weapon in the near future.

“It’s a bottleneck,” David Albright, a former UN nuclear inspector, tells The New York Times regarding the destruction of the equipment. “They have to rebuild it.”

Haitian migrants face mass deportation from America after dramatic update
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Haitian migrants risk deportation from America after the Trump Administration terminated their temporary legal protections.

On Friday, the Department of Homeland Security that it is terminating legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Haitians, setting them up for potential deportation.

DHS said that conditions in Haiti have improved and Haitians no longer meet the conditions for the temporary legal protections.

'This decision restores integrity in our immigration system and ensures that Temporary Protective Status is actually temporary,' a DHS spokesperson said.

'The environmental situation in Haiti has improved enough that it is safe for Haitian citizens to return home.'

The Department of State, however, has not changed its travel advisory and still recommends Americans 'do not travel to Haiti due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited health care.'

'The decision today will leave returning Haitian citizens at very high risk of persecution, danger, homelessness. People have nowhere to go,' Pastor Dieufort Fleurissaint, of Boston, told The Boston Globe.

'You have a humanitarian collapse... The only hope we have is God. God and to call upon our friends and allies, elected officials, to advocate on our behalf, so these families can be protected and find a way to enact permanent solutions.'

He told the outlet that migrants have been calling him left and right since the news dropped as they are now unsure what their and their children's futures look like and their employment.

Massachusetts Representative Ayanna Pressley condemned DHS, writing on Bluesky: 'We should NOT be deporting anyone to a nation still dealing with a grave humanitarian crisis like Haiti.'

Heather Yountz, senior immigration staff attorney at the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, said the Trump Administration was revoking Haitian's protect 'simply to fulfill the harmful mass deportation he promised,' she told The Boston Globe.

Haitian migrants who are in the US under a temporary protection status (TPS) will have to leave by September 2. The program ends on August 3, but it doesn't go into effect for a month.

DHS advised TPS holders to return to Haiti using a mobile application called CBP Home.

The majority of Haitian migrants live in Massachusetts and Florida.

Gang violence has displaced 1.3million people across Haiti as the local government and international community struggle to contain an spiraling crisis, according to a recent report from the International Organization for Migration.

The report warned of a 24 percent increase in displaced people since December, with gunmen having chased 11 percent of Haiti’s nearly 12million inhabitants from their home.

Fresno police release absurd shooting video
[YouTube]

On May 7, 2025, the Fresno Police Department received reports that a man, later identified as 31-year-old Martin Campos, had physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend and that he was chasing her and her 3-year-old daughter as they drove southbound on Freeway 41. During the pursuit, Campos rammed his car into the victim’s vehicle and pointed a gun at her, threatening to kill her. Officers located the vehicles stopped at a traffic light near Jensen Avenue and Highway 99. As an officer approached, Campos fired at least one round at the victim, prompting the officer to return fire. The child was in the rear passenger’s side. The woman reacted to the gunfire by putting the car into reverse, but collided with the sergeant’s patrol car. Campos then fled the scene, striking two nearby vehicles before surrendering to police.

The sergeant chased the car as Campos tries to escape, that’s when the sergeant fired his gun. Campos placed his hands out of the window and was arrested without being hit by gunfire. The woman who was pistol whipped and two other people in other cars struck by Campos were transported to an area hospital with injuries that weren’t considered serious. The victim's child, who was in the backseat, was examined by EMS at the scene and was not physically harmed during the incident. Campos has been charged with 11 counts including attempted murder on the woman as well as several more child abuse and firearms crimes by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office. If convicted on all charges and enhancements, Campos faces a maximum sentence of 35 years, 8 months, plus life with the possibility of parole in state prison. Campos remains in custody. His bail was set at $1,785,600.00.

UAE top court upholds life terms for 24 convicted for ‘terror’ links in controversial mass trial
Do not pass go, do not collect $200. It’s straight to jail for you lot, boys.
[IsraelTimes] The UAE supreme court has jailed 24 people for life after upholding their convictions for “terrorist” links, which had been dismissed following a mass trial criticized by human rights groups.

“The Criminal Chamber of the Federal Supreme Court ruled [on Thursday] to partially overturn the judgment issued by the State Security Chamber at the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal and to reconvict 24 defendants,” the United Arab Emirates’ official WAM news agency reports.

The 24 were originally convicted in a mass trial of 84 people in July last year, most of whom had been behind bars since a similar mass trial of 94 people in 2013, according to human rights groups.

“Following yesterday’s ruling… the total number of convicted individuals in this case has risen to 83 out of 84 referred to trial,” WAM says. Sixty-seven of them were jailed for life.

“The court sentenced the defendants to life imprisonment for collaborating with the ‘Terrorist Justice and Dignity Organisation’, and providing funds to the Al-Islah,”
…translates as The Reform, it is the UAE branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, formed on a core of Egyptian Brotherhooders who fled Nasser’s crackdown in the 1960s. Recruited by the government of one of the emirates as teachers to counter pan-Arab national socialist enthusiasts, they were tapped to run a number of domestic government ministries even as they formed a militant arm to overthrow the government, for which they were banned as terrorists in 2014. This despite two of their number having been involved in 9/11…
WAM adds, referring to a group with ties to the outlawed Islamist group, the Muslim Brotherhood.

The original 2013 trial of the so-called UAE 94 followed a round-up of dozens of government critics, including activists, lawyers, students and teachers in the aftermath of the Arab Spring uprisings around the region. It was strongly criticized by human rights groups.

In March, the UAE rejected the appeals of 53 of those convicted in the July 2024 trial.

The Abu Dhabi Federal Appeals Court overturned the convictions of the other 24 defendants, but the attorney general sought to reverse that decision, arguing it had been “legally flawed.”

Prominent activist Ahmed Mansoor and academic Nasser bin Ghaith were among those tried last July, Human Rights Watch says.

The UAE, a federation of seven absolute monarchies, prohibits criticism of its rulers and any speech that is deemed likely to spark social unrest.

The Emirati courts have convicted dozens of citizens and Egyptian expats of forming clandestine cells, including Al-Islah.
