#2 Idlib is home Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), that whole area is populated by hardcore followers of al-Zawahiri. Cindy McCain did some NonProfit work around Idlib, and McCain visited the city - one might think these were his moderate rebels. Maybe.

I've read: HTS leaders have been coordinating with senior leaders of the Turkistan Islamic Party group, Ansar al-Tawhid, and Hurras al-Din groups, to facilitate the passage of the extremists from Idlib to Turkey and then on to Ukraine.
