#2 Lend Lease? Possibly my father’s signature is still somewhere on the original paperwork translations.

ZIS trucks.

#4 Thanks. The trucks looked suspiciously like wartime GMC 2.5 ton trucks w/ the rectangular cab.

Delving further, the ZIS-5 was not based on the previous AMO-3 designed two years previously, but on the American Autocar Model CA, faithfully copied under licence.

Also: According to Soviet registers, the most produced trucks in USSR ever was the GAZ MM (419,812), a derivative of the Ford built in USSR.

Two trucks really made the bread and butter of motorized units on the eastern front during WW2: The ZIS-5 and GAZ AA/AAA/MM. Together they represented a total of 1,400 000 light utility trucks. They represented together about 50% of the trucks produced in USSR and used by Soviet troops.

Unless this is disinformation, it is incredible that WW2 era trucks with Katusha launchers and towing 85mm antitank guns are seen outside of Victory Day reenactments. Goes with reactivating T-54 and T-55 tanks while Russian leadership brags of producing 1600 new tanks this year while real capability is 20 or less a month and that is without modern optics and fire control systems that are embargoed by the West. Kim Jong-un is cringing.

#5 Thanks FC. I'm going with the re-enactment vehicle theory. Tires and fuel pump availability might soon be limiting factors.
