Decrease in Foreign workers in the USA spring 2025

[Powerline] According to official U.S. Government statistics, in the two months from March 2025 to May 2025, the number of foreign-born workers in the U.S. workforce dropped by over one million.

As you can see from the graph above, the data are volatile. We've seen intervals of similar declines (Aug. to Dec. 2024) and intervals of big jumps (Dec. 2024 to Jan. 2025).

During the first few months of COVID, 2.5 million foreign-born workers left the U.S. workforce. But, within a year and a half, the number had recovered to its pre-Covid level.

The numbers are based on sampling and reports by employers. There are a fair number of blips in the time history of the reports. It remains a question how far this will go.

#1 Interesting to know whether anyone is paying the illegals that are igniting cars in LA. Just for statistics, of course.

#3 Just to emphasize, the foreign born workers include both citizens, legal residents and illegals and we don't really know how many there are of each. The data comes from employers who obviously are not going to report illegal workers because then they would be confessing to a crime.

The spring 2025 decrease is probably due to illegals leaving since these months had basically stable total employment in areas where illegals work, e.g., landscaping, unskilled health care.
