#3 The Louisiana PURCHASE of 1803 was where Thomas Jefferson BOUGHT Louisiana from the French, who had "conquered" it (not very convincingly beyond Baton Rouge). The Gadsden Purchase was also a financial deal, not conquest, as was Alaska. Maybe it's time Mexico City received an ARCLIGHT strike or six to remind them we, too, are a sovereign nation, and have become very tired of their "reconquesta" bullsh##.

#5 The more I read about the Aztecs, the more I think it was a good thing that the Spaniards conquered them.

Many of the ancient Mesoamerican cultures practiced human sacrifice but the Aztecs did it more. They would take people from other tribes that they conquered, haul them to the top of one of their pyramids, hold them down on a stone slab, cut their chests open, rip their hearts out and show it to the cheering crowd. Quetzalcoatl told them not to do it but then they kicked him out and went at it with renewed gusto.

Yes, they were good at math, astronomy and architecture but a lot of what they did in those fields they learned from the Mayans.

They were enthusiastic conquerors themselves, making war on neighboring tribes to expand their empire.

We don't need that shit in America.

#8 IIRC, after the Mexican-American war in the 1840s, we defeated Mexico so badly that some considered annexing it. The idea was rejected, partially because it was claimed that we did not want to expand by conquest. However, at the time Mexico was largely a Catholic country, and many Americans felt that they did not want a bunch of Catholics in the country.
