#1 A '63 split at no reserve?
They don't need a reserve, it'll go large.

#2 MSRP in '63 somewhere in the neighborhood of $4250. Would not be surprised to see this one fetch $350,000.

I'm guessing a road trip to Albuquerque in this one would be a non-start.

#3 Wonder if it's been modified for unleaded fuel?

The FI 327 was a beast in it's day and probably still would launch you in a pretty convincing fashion.

#4 ^ You'd have to replace the heads.

#5 If you want to run on Unleaded, you'd need to change the valves. About 15 years ago at an auto consignment place, had the opportunity to buy a numbers matching unrestored Split for $49K. Thought it was too much given my circumstances at the time.

If this car is in decent shape and is numbers matching, I think the $350K number is too low...

#6 IIUC it's the lack of lead "softening" the valve seats in the head. Is that wrong?

#7 They had to tighten the clearances on the valve guides to allow for lack of lead buildup on the exhaust valve stems.

#8 There are additives.
