#5 When I was a lad, and lunch milk was two cents (three cents for chocolate!) we were too poor to buy the school lunches, so we had to bring ours in a paper bag. And my Mom quit making my lunch in first grade.

Clearly, that was a millennium ago.

If one keeps properly kosher, it's not just the food ingredients, but also the kitchen. So either the food would have to be brought in in sealed portions, or the entire kitchen would have to be koshered and kept so -- basically sterilized, then only kosher ingredients with separate dishes, storage, and prep tools for meat and milk meals. People whose children keep kosher either send them to school with bag lunches from home, or send them to private schools.
