#4 this is the strength of democracy. It allows the other side, those with different opinions the chance to make a few mistakes.

It stops us killing each other. The best thing about this story is that the elected president orders and the CIA obeys.

In Russia, it is the ex-secret service that orders and the elected puppets that obey

If Obama has truly wrecked the ability of the CIA to protect the country with intel, then there will be another big atrocity.

And the mistake will be recognised and rectified, as long as it is reported openly.

it is a longer, messier way but it is the best way we have.

A valid point, but I wouldn't want my family to be on the receiving end of one of Obama's mistakes. The other problem with your approach is that it may take many years for the truth to be revealed and publicized adequately by various media channels-- in this case, the fact that so many CIA directors adamantly opposed this madness. I don't see that there's been any serious, detailed, well-informed debate on the actual RESULTS obtained by these techniques, only a one-sided tendentious campaign by the mainstream media against them. Let alone a "national dialogue" of the sort Barry seems to favor for other contentious issues of great (or not-so great) import.

The problem is, a mistake like this cannot be rectified as it is disclosure of technique.

I honestly believe this President has major foreign influence over him, and it is to the whole worlds detriment.

#7 I am a little hesitant to accept a book written by a speech writer. Why would a speech writer need access to classified CIA documents? OS would understand the statement 'Need to know" this guy did not need to know what was going on at a secret CIA base or any base to write a speeches. Actually I think they restrict his access lest he inadvertently include it in a speech.
