#1 Ok why all this Regnum BS? Yes has snippets of truth but is very hard to read due to all the propaganda...

#2 Simple enough: We get our news from the sources. In this case, we have both Russer and Uke versions of what's happening. Both sides rely heavily on nationalist propaganda, so y'gotta bang the two together to try and shake out the truth. It's what we've been doing for 22 long years, every day of the week.

#4 ^ Yes, there's a LOT of propaganda and lies on both sides. Badanov has done the vast majority of work in bringing what the two sides are feeding their people (and the outside world to some extent). AP and our wretched MSM are not much better at unbiased reporting, so you're getting spin there as well. The actual info buried can be hard to sift, but worth it

#6 Yes totally understand, once I stumbled onto rantburg right after 9-11 have read every day (not much posting since around 2010 though)
But Regnum is the top of the chain for propaganda (well certain govt agencies maybe higher;)...just makes my eyes bleed...

#10 regnum.ru is my go to source for news from the Russian perspective, as it has a wider variety of news than other Russian language publications.

I also would like to remind that something like 85 percent of all news stories in the west are institutionally generated by government and other organizations.

That is propaganda as well.

As to the story itself, it is what used to be called in journalism, a feature story, not hard news, but an exposition of a subject, in this case praising the subject for his work. I would like for someone to show me how this is propaganda.

#11 I went to the site, regnum.ru, I have no time to translate...from the pics seems to report on all russian culture

But what is posted on the Burg is over the top on hard russian nationalism that is hard to read the english translations, If that is journalism I want back Cronkite and the ignorant bliss we had pre-internet mass information...well not really :)

Not so much propaganda as it is psych-ops. This seems like an attempt to get readers to view the author in a positive light, which in turn tend to color the reader's perspective of future articles by the same author.

Sometimes it backfire, badly...

At least that's my $0.02.
