#1 IMHO, it's a remarkable fact that honor in Islam / Shari'a always means the death of someone else. In Western culture, almost all honor involves the death of self in a selfless act. Odd, that.

Or death of the offender. If, for example, someone close to you is raped, then "defending the family honor" may mean killing the rapist.

Which always made more sense to me than the Sharia-based concept of killing the victim to prove your honor.
