#2 Anti-americanism is for the most part a reflection of domestic political and ideological issues, not US policy. This is why the highest level of anti-americanism's always registered in the nation we've helped most and harmed least, Canada.

The next biggest factor is realpolitk, a result of US policy toward a nation's allies or sphere of interest. Which is why Russian hostility to the US reached a fever pitch during the Clinton era and has subsided greatly during the GW Bush era, and why (contrary to Hanson's rather naive view) most Indians to this day resent and fear Pakistan's longtime ally.
