#1 "In the past there has been evidence that some people in Ireland, who have an extremist point of view, have been engaging in logistical support activities for terrorist- type activities in Europe and elsewhere. That is a worrying thing," the justice minister said.

And this is news?

#2 I remarked 6 months back that the jihadis should hire a dozen currently unemployed Irishmen to handle the logistics given they are so dismally bad at it. Also Novosti had a report immediately after the bombings saying there was an Irish connection. I'm getting mildly paranoid about posting stuff here in case I am giving lurkers ideas. A few days ago I debated posting about an obvious and vulnerable target and thought about how I could do it cryptically in a way a casual reader wouldn't get, before deciding to keep quiet (about it).

#3 Phil, you could e-mail it directly to Fred or one of the moderators, then let them decide. That way your thought can flow to useful channels, but stay out of the public eye.

#4 or contact your local anti-terrorist unit to let them know of the risk and what might be done to protect targets.

#5 If this is true, then the IRA has truly demonstrated what to do when you reach rock bottom - commence an excavation. Sharia doesn't seem like it would be a good fit for the Gaelic majority.
I don't kow what conditions are in Northern Ireland but I think that employment levels in the rest of Ireland are very good. EMC, for example, chose to Ireland for a manufacturing center because the population is well educated and hard working.

#6 The relevant authorities are well aware of the vulnerability I thinking of and there is very little they can do to stop an attack, short of doing something that would be iconic of the power of terrorism to change the way we live in the West. Sorry to be so cryptic.

Terrorism is a business and to a significant degree the objective is the publicity that 'succesful' attacks generate and which bring in money and recruits, but like all businesses (and far more than most) there is much that is only learned 'on the job'. There is a pool of Irishmen who have that experience and some would be willing to hire themselves out the highest bidder. Do you really think the four caught in Colombia cared about FARC's objectives?
