#1 When I majored in anthropology (don't ask), ethnographies that focused on Latin America always talked about the need for land "reform." At the time, I was too dumb to understand what such reform would entail, but it is fascinating the extent to which the curriculum was infused with normative politics, not to mention the notion that perhaps the key to wealth might be to acquire human capital.
