#1 Again I question why so many are concerned about Shiite militias (non Tater, anyway). If they take the law into their own hands, maybe this barbaric behavior will be discouraged. I do not understand why the Shia seem to submissive.

#2 If they (citizens) take law in their own hands, you'll end up very soon with a civil war.. It's clear the Shia will gain more from the political process then from the outbreak of a war.

#3 1,345 people dead since April. For the UK that would work out to be about 4,000 dead and for the US, 20,000! - the killings over the last two days alone equate to 350 (UK) and 1800 (US)...

Now, what would *you* do, faced with that level of killing in your country?

Seems to me that a civil war is only being prevented by the presence of the coalition, and that the Sunnis would get totalled were it to happen.

#4 The Shiites are quietly and neatly killing former Baathists and current Al Qaeda. AQ is going after civilian mass casualties. The Sunni Arabs not involved with either of the terror groups see themselves as potentially next. Who do you think will win the hearts & minds battle that leads to quiet phone calls to the authorities, naming names and hiding places?
