#1 Wow! I'm actually shocked, but there may be some level-headed folks left at Syracuse. I think this approach (let's open up the floor to BOTH sides of the debate and let the public decide) is the ONLY thing many of us would ask for. There may be some hope left for some of these colleges, yet. Not "free speech for me, but not for thee."

#11 #2 Spot, the faculty handbook at my university defines a Professor of the Practice as faculty who "shall have attained regional and national prominence and, when appropriate, international recognition of outstanding achievement."

It's listed at the very top of all the possible ranks (assistant, associate, full professor, etc.), so, it's the academic equivalent of a Field Marshal, I guess.
