#2 Louisiana finally catches a break. Now let's see if they're smart enough to use it. Given their past performance, I'm doubtful.

#4 “The storms are blamed for not only destroying much of south Louisiana but Blanco's political career.”

I recognize this might seem as sour grapes but the majority of news accounts about the La. Governor, as well as the Mayor of NO, are usually framed as if the storm itself was the cause of all their political challenges – not their preparation and performance (Or lack there of). Contrast those with the critiques of the President’s performance and you would think he should have been personally handing out sandwiches at the Super Dome.

#5 A team of scientists and engineers just issued a report saying it was all the Corps of Engineers fault. And they make a pretty reasonable case for it.
The demand is now for the federal government to 'make everyone whole' that was affected by Katrina. If that even starts to happen, I hope the rest of America will petition their Congresscritters to cease all federal funding of anything in south Louisiana (and I live here). If we, the taxpayers, are to be held responsible for levee failure, then the clear solution is to not build levees (and remove those already built). We, the taxpayers, may have to make you, the flood victims, whole ONCE, but by golly, not twice. Take your money and go someplace else.
