#8 Perhaps he should put a copy of the news articles in the windows most likely to be broken into. Or a chalk outline just beneath the window for those tht can't read.

#9 I remember some inner city liquor store owner did that. When the police removed the body of the last robber, he took some masking tape and made the chalk outline permanent with white paint.

After then, he said about once a month, some creep enters the store, takes one look at the floor, then marches out again without a word.
