#4 The original ghettos (an Italian word, by the way) were built by the Jews as walled communities to keep out the ravening mobs trying to get at the Christ killers. It was only later that they became prisons.

The Jews in Yemen are the ones who chose not to go to Israel when it was offered, "on the wings of eagles", and at Israel's expense. It will be interesting to see what happens this time, especially given that even high, stout walls are inadequate protection against rocket-propelled grenades and such.
