#2 Ah, so it is not the consumption of alcohol that is un-Islamic, but the hydroxyl group itself. I'm glad we cleared that up. Doesn't most gasoline in the US contain some ethanol?

If I was a follow-the-money sort of guy, I would suspect this has more to do with petrodollars and declining prices than religious observance.
