#1 This is actually a good sign. All cultures have "social sanctions", which are unwritten laws enforced by the man on the street. In France this likely means that a burqa is starting to be seen in the same light as if someone donned a t-shirt in the US, which said "I molest children and like it", and walked down a busy sidewalk.
