#1 The now-powerless RPG might still hit its target, but with no more force than any other metal object, and would certainly not be able to penetrate

Oh wow, it's disables the shaped charge! Awesome work.

#2 Should work for ships and EFVs, too.

#3 This is a rewrite of a 3 year old Fox News video. The US Army rejected Trophy.

#4 First Upgrade:

Plot trajectory-Very simple, hint: its parabolic.

Return fire to point of origin- Make it a flatter trajectory so it actually hits them before they see their own report.

Leave unit set on 'Automatic'- Enjoy your drive through the countryside.

#5 Things change in 3 years, ed. Like, maybe, somebody finally figured out that preserving lives (not to mention expensive equipment) is more important than NIH.

#6 Wrong defense for the current battlefield. It might be useful against ATGMs but slat armor already works better against RPGs and is cheap and reliable. In addition, slat armor won't kill nearby foot infantry. Trophy may be useful on another battlefield, say Lebanon.

Where an active defense could be useful is on Humvees where slat armor is too heavy. Unfortunately, Trophy is too heavy and too power hungry for the Humvee's systems.

#7 The US is obsoleting Humvees for better protected vehicles so my last point will soon be moot.

And to combat our new fleet of vehicles the bad guys are upsizing their Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) with Home Made Explosives (HME). Sadly, little can survive 90kgs of AN/FO.

We do something - They do something. And so it goes.

#9 IEDs are another problem and Trophy won't solve that. That requires another set of solutions like increased surveillance and better ground penetrating radar. By forcing the enemy to go to larger IEDs, it increases both the time and effort required emplace it (counter ambush) and the odds for its detection.
