Because the US and NATO have a supply route through Pakistan to Afghanistan?

As for support to the Taliban/jihadi terrorism/carrying out Pakistani national interests by unconventional means - I suspect that the situation would be much, much worse were the 'screw you Pak-boy' foreign policy applied.

Baksheesh is an unfortunate, but long standing, process in foreign policy.
