All of this reminds me of German Socialists in 1933, the Reichstag fire. The German National Socialists needed a national catastrophe to fire up their base and to attack their opponents. They had to create that incident themselves. They did. And their opponents rolled over.

So if I threaten not to vote for Senator XXX. I can be thrown in jail? Because that could be construed as 'inciting violence'....
