#1 They are not doing all that well with the guns they looted for Libyan army bases.

#2 Obligation = Codeword for requirement.
Ensure = Codeword for US involvement.
Massacre = Codeword for event focused guilt.

#3 They are not doing all that well with the guns they looted for Libyan army bases.

1. Action films are no substitute for training.

2. What army that defected wasn't much better in quality than the rebels they joined.

3. The looted weapons are old.

4. The looted weapons weren't maintained well, even by Arab standards.

5. The ammunition is in short supply and aged.

6. Faith in Allan is no substitute for fire discipline.

#6 ...meanwhile the military regime in Myanmar continues to operate isolated from 'world' after repeated suppression of it own citizens. What 'obligation' has the world shown there? /rhet question.

#8 When I heard how they treated the British that went to meet with them and discuss how to help I decided I didn't care much for the rebels. I don't think they'll be friendly when its all over.

The best case scenario is the government of Egypt conquers the place and hopes that by doing so they can distract their own people. Wars are often good for that sort of thing.

#9 When I heard how they treated the British that went to meet with them and discuss how to help I decided I didn't care much for the rebels.

Based on personal experience from when I was a young and dumb ensign, dropping in unannounced on a group of nervous Arabs with guns does not result in a warm welcome.

#10 A cynical person would suggest bombing the crap out of both sides and keeping the oil for ourselves, if only to show the world what "Blood for Oil" really looks like. But that would be mean, wouldn't it?

#11 mean?
In Frank G's world that would be called: "because we can. Do you want us to come back?"

#12 F***in-A, Frank. Bet you wouldn't hear much from the "no blood for oil" crowd now that gas is pushing $4/gal.
