#1 Argh. Look, you don't fight an attritional campaign in which your side doesn't, y'know, attrit. Do they bother to teach basic strategic concepts to journalists or diplomats anymore? I'd describe the current campaign as a basic raiding campaign. You operate from an inaccessible base, chase the enemy into his strongholds, and burn his shit down. Rinse, repeat, until he agrees to give in or his people knife him & replace him with someone who'll give you what you want. This is, in point of fact, the preferred Arab strategy, historically speaking.
