Thats the problem - they are more political and that prevents them from being capable of proper reporting (bias kills that), and effective practice covert operations (protecting the power structure undermines that).

This is an aberrant thought process that affects the leadership once they start believing their own bullshit, and are tucked comfortably inside their political bubble.
