#2 See Catalan independence for an idea of the difficulty in breaking away. Also see Brexit. There is a lot of push-back by the Globalists/NWO types against nationalism movements.

A Kurd nation would probably be good for the Kurds but it's not too popular with Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq.
