#1 A bit like Trump, SA's new multi-millionaire president Cyril Ramaphosa is pushing hard for foreign investment, and he is getting it.

"Rahmphosa is well known as a businessman, and his estimated net worth is over R6.4 billion ($550 million) as of 2018,[12] with 31 properties[13] and previously-held notable ownership in companies such as McDonald's South Africa, chair of the board for MTN and member of the board for Lonmin. He also works for Coca-Cola Company."

Ramaphosa is from the tiny Venda (not Xhosa or Zulu) tribal district of South Africa, close to the northern border with Zimbabwe. He is a well educated business man and shrewd negotiator.

The South African GDP still remains below 1%, but a new middle-class is emerging.
