#2 ISIS is obviously not dead. Time to halt the withdrawal. The real drain on our resources is Afghanistan. $5b to local Afghan security forces for equipment purchases (to rebuild their equipment inventory lost through the Taliban era via attrition and wear and tear), supplies and payroll and $40b to support GI's in providing training and air support in Afghanistan. A big chunk of that $40b is probably to route supplies, with the associated payoffs to local clan chiefs, through Pakistan.

Things would be a lot easier and cheaper if we could just go through the area, Roman-style, slaughtering anyone who got in the way, along with their entire clans. There'd be tens of millions of Pakistani and Afghan carcasses for the local vultures to dine on, but we'd be done already.

I'd say he's completely wrong. He said ISIS was dead so we could pull out. This incident shows ISIS is very much alive. And capable.

#5 Islamists have been murdering people for over 1,400 years. To send our youngsters over there to completely stop 1400 years of Islam's tradition in Syria is deadly ignorance. ISIS came into existence in Iraq after our military had been in Iraq for years.
