#3 It could be a journo screw up. Or, more likely, Russians do not like to throw staff away with so many ways it can be used to cause mischief in "right" hands. And, they haven't discovered "planned obsolescence" until recently.

#4 Not a screw up. Russian sources identify the tank as a T-34-85, and they should know.

As a matter of fact, the Russians probably delivered them to then Socialist Republic of Yemen.

#5 ...There were some stories a year or two back - with pics that didn't seem to be faked - of WWII German gear, including a couple of vehicles, that popped up in Syria. More at:

#7 Yemen on paper has 200 of the things, but less than 20 are thought to be serviceable. Vietnam has the largest group of working T-34s still.

#8 Saw a segment on a channel which prides itself on knowing firearms, about some sturmgewehr 44s showing up in Syria.

Didn't say whether they were era or recently manufactured; apparently the cartridge is still produced in Serbia.

#9 Why go with a sg44 when AK varieties are so cheap and plentiful?

#10 Dunno. Looking up if anyone still manufactured 7.92x33 wiki states,

"...still in use by some within the Lebanese Forces militia, Djibouti and Pakistan [19] as well as irregular forces in some countries in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East, where captured German arms were distributed as military aid by Eastern Bloc countries as well as Yugoslavia."

Best weapon available in a fight I guess.
