I beg your pardon?

#3 I never met a man, woman, or even animal who didn't like north Indian cuisine. Must be talking about southern, Gujarati or bengali food.

Anyway, what can be racist about it ? You like what you like. To an Indian, English fish and chips would be boring.

#6 Don't like most Indian food or Mexican food. Generally don't like Cumin or too much heat.

Like Italian and Chinese in general. But food is like people in that the individual dish is what matters.

#7 Was called a racist once for criticizing Mexican restaurants - don't know how they are in general, but in NM they think that slow service is a mark of a fancy restaurant.

#8 Some Indian food is good, some is bad. Just like all regional cuisines.

#9 Traditional northern & western European food is terrible - it's why so much time and effort was made bringing back spices from Indonesia etc.

#11 Mexican restaurants in California are generally pretty good. But pardon me if I'm not crazy about curry.

#14 Indian food is high Beta. Done well, there's none better. Done poorly, none worse.
Did I just commit a hate crime?

#15 Nothing beats a junky pepperoni pizza for me. Or a good ham sandwich when you need one. Food is food.

Hell, I've survived in Siachen on slim jims and beef jerky that is just divine after an 8 hour trek.

#16 I've been told by Indian guys I used to work with that the best Indian food on the planet was in London.

Personally, put me down in the Hitler column (Like I wasn't already there!)
And if you are not familiar with Titania McGrath, it is one of the most savagely funny parody accounts going.

#19 do they have curry roller dogs in India

What's that, curry and ... sausage ? Errm...not that I know of. The possibility can't be negated though. India is so freakishly diverse you can travel it all yet miss some weirdo demographic that might eat just that. I think Goa could have such a thing.

#27 I like chili, just not that Cincinnati stuff. I like Indian food even tho they insist on spelling "chile" as "chilli." Panang curry please...
Posted by M. Murcek 2019-11-26 15:14||   2019-11-26 15:14|| Front Page Top

#28 Mr. Wife brought me home a cookbook from his time in India — the pages are falling out. I really ought to scan the key recipes into the computer before he mistakes the scraps of stained paper for garbage, which is how I usually lose recipes.

M.Murcek, Cincinnati chili is strongly polarizing for those not born to it. It”s basically an unbaked Greek pastitsio without the bechamel sauce and with beans and/or chopped onion optional. (The pages of the Greek cookbook Mr.Wife brought home when he was starting up the factory in Athens also has loose pages...)

#29 As for the good professor, we all now know better than to rond to a joking “Say something controversial about X,”right? The humourless scolds have destroyed another opportunity for lighthearted human interaction. I can’t wait until the Crazy Years are over.
