#2 Thanks, Fred - missed my morning Rantburg fix until now.

Hopefully those 6TB drives are standard 5400 RPM Barracudas or something like it. I scored 8TB Seagate Ironwolf drives (7200 RPM) and I noticed two big differences between the two - the Ironwolf drives make a lot more noise and if they're dormant (mine shut down after 20 minutes of inactivity), they take a lot longer to spin up to speed.

Just out of nosy curiosity, what happens to your old boxes after the new one proves stable? You must have gone through half a dozen or so since the original beast back on 9/11.
