#1 Slavery was a common form of labor before the industrial revolution around the world. White folk in the New England colonies had to free themselves from the bondage of steep taxation from the Crown before they could build the economy to free all men which occured 4 score and 7 years later.

After George Washington died his wife lived on their plantation in fear because if both husband and wife masters are dead the slaves were freed men.

#2 It seems the only thing you have to fear after death is where your soul goes, assuming (as I do, anyway) that there's an afterlife.
