#1 Military Informant on Vkontakte reports that elements (presumably a regiment) of the Russian 76th Guards Airborne Division (Pskov) and a similar Belarusian airborne unit has arrived in Alma Ata.

I forget where, but I read where the Russian 56th Guards Airborne Brigade arrived a few hours earlier.

Also, the Russian 77th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade, -- part of the Caspian Sea Flotilla -- recently on emergency exercises, is available.

Fleet naval infantry units are the fleet/flotilla commander's personal guard, and as such can only be committed as part of the fleet mission; i.e. No one can make the Caspian Sea Flotilla commander use his forces against his will.

While it is unlikely any part of the 77th NIB will be deployed to Kazakhstan, it is likely special forces and their naval components will be monitoring Kazakhstan's long eastern shore with the Caspian Sea.

#2 Military Informant also reports a battle between Kazakhstan security forces an protesters during an attempt to storm the police building in Alma Ata has resulted in "dozens" being liquidated.

Elements of the Russian 45th Guards Spetsnaz Brigade are being sent to Kazakhstan, according to Military Informant on VKontakte.

#3 Russia does keep a specially trained peacekeeping force, the Russian 15th Separate Motorized Rrifle Brigade.

If this unit does make an appearance in Kazakhstan it will be railed in.
