And now the admin sends what everyone agrees is the most ludicrously ineffective administration member, a laughingstock who's so incompetent and pathological that even her own supporters have abandoned her, to go to a "conference" that doesn't even include the Russians.

If war is imminent, what's the point if a western-only "conference"? What great military power holds a political gabfest with hundreds of staffers when there's a war on?

This is a signal that Magoo and his handlers want as little to do with Ukraine as possible. A diplomatic settlement is coming.

Investors bet Ukraine-Russia war will be averted

Russian troops are continuing to build up on the Ukrainian border, but investors are piling into bets that there won’t be a war.

The Russian ruble and Ukrainian hryvnia have strengthened against the dollar in recent days, appreciating 3% and 1.5% this month so far, respectively. The currencies traded at multiyear lows in the last week of January.

Hedge funds have been especially active, with the most net long positions in the ruble in 23 months as of last Friday, according to data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Ukraine on Sunday said its airspace was open, despite warnings by the United States that a Russian invasion could happen at any time and the suspension of flights to the country by airlines.

“Information about the closure of Ukraine’s airspace is not true,” the Ukrainian ministry of infrastructure said in a statement on Sunday, “Closure of airspace is a sovereign right of Ukraine, no decision has been made.”
