#1 [clap clap clapitty claps] for the science, the engineering, the sheer dedication to produce something deadly-ish.

Now put an AI in it and tell it to seek out enemies of the USA and kill kill kill 'em dead. I guarantee you it'll bomb Washington DC.

#3 Presumably, you're not doing Mach 6 when you open the bomb bay.... So then is there some vulnerability?

#4

I seem to remember a USSR defense scenario against the Black Bird to protect key sites and locations.

Called something like the "Wall of Death"

Where the USSR exploded 5 x 100kt nukes at 36k ft. in front of the flight path Black Bird. (yes like in Dr. Strange Love)

Yep! The Reds were willing to radiate/kill 10's of 1000's of their own people to protect certain key locations and win a Nuke War.

Should we think much has changed with Putin (A LTC USSR-KGB) at the helm?

#6 *Yawn* Remember the redesign of the B-1 Lancer from supersonic to low altitude and stealthy? Unless someone has figured a way to change aerodynamics this weapon system is only as lethal as the flying aerial tanker fleet that gets it in range. Basically an IRBM that flies really, really low.

#7 Remember the days when we didn't hear about a 'new' weapons system until after it had been deployed for a while?

#8 Remember the days when individual Soviet military officers PREVENTED WW III? E.g. Vasily Arkhipov Soviet naval officer 1962, Lt. Col Stanislav Petrov 1983. Had the Russians never opened their archives after the USSR dissolved, we would never had known of these men.

#9 I'll believe Russian military propaganda after they manage to take over Sumy.

#10 "Son" of Blackbird?

Will the DoD have to twist this to comport with noun standards at time of roll-out?

Oh, and like Mullah Richard sez...

#11 Why would you name a drone bomber after a stealth plane?
