#1 ...The fun part here is a tacit admission that when we got hold of -29s years ago, we took the damned things apart, rebuilt them, and wrote our own manuals and specs, against the day when this might be needed.

To put this in perspective, the last thing I can think of that was even close to this was during the Falklands War, when the RAF rigged AGM-45 Shrike on their Vulcan bombers.
